Looove this little cafe and count ourselves lucky to have it so close. Friendly folks greet and serve you luscious, reasonably priced food. Creatively decorated ex butchers shop... kitsch 50s / 60s tables & chairs. ... excellent coffee... mmm mmm.. in fact writing this has given me a hankering. Think I might just go there right now!
Great Cafe, was on a bike ride with a group from Hamilton.
Good food and service in spite of a large group of motorcycle riders.
Great local cafe which we enjoy every time we get the chance to visit. Good selection of delicious food and drinks. The service is always outstanding and we are always greeted with a warm welcome. Being local, we sometimes phone ahead with our orders, especially if a large number of us are planning to visit.
I have been here several times now and the latest was by far the best.
The food is out standing and the sweets are delicious. I have only found one other cafe in the South Waikato that remotely equals this.
If you get a chance - come here and eat. The people who work here are really nice too!
Have been dropping in here for 2 years now. Always a friendly warm welcome. Menu choices wide enough & generous. Coffee lovely & HOT! Pity we're too long in the tooth for the bike hire.
Best wishes.
Karen B, we moved into the village 10 months ago and feel this is a great asset to the village, lovely fresh food and very friendly staff. As a local we go down most weekends, this cafe is well worth a visit.
Have been out to Rhubarb several times for brunch. Menu remains the same since I started patronising the place but it is always good quality and value for money. Service is great. Love the decor. But I have learned to order tea not coffee.
Several month ago, my partner and I mountain biked the waikato river trails. The Rhubarb cafe was highly recommended by friends. We thoroughly enjoyed riding the trail, and unfortunately, we ended up arriving late at the cafe just after it closed. Riding back to our base camp, we decided to return the following morning for breakfast.
We were blown away with the friendly service and we had a beautiful breakfast. My partner, while on our adventure weekends, eats like a horse, and she ordered 2 items from the breakfast menu. She also loves her smoothies, and was not disappointed to find them on the menu.
We loved the decor and ended up having a look around the town.
We have recommended this cafe to many people, and this weekend, it is one of my son's 17th birthday, and we will be riding the trails and the Rhubarb cafe is high on our priority list of things to do while we are away.
Fabulous cafe in the middle of Arapuni, walking distance to the amazing swing bridge. We drive there regularly from Cambridge for breakfast in the weekends or to drop in for an amazing coffee while out on a bike ride. Owners are friendly, warm and obliging in every way - real foodies! They've gone to no end of trouble to decorate this spotless, homely cafe in cool retro style, right down to the souvenir teaspoons! I notice on our last visit they have introduced a new smoothie - banana and blueberry - yum, will go down perfectly with the Kiwi Hamburger I'll be trying next time - mustn't miss the mince on toast with poached eggs, or the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate brownies - they're HUGE! Just can't recommend this spot highly enough!!
Stopped in during a motorcycle road trip last Thursday.Clear sunny day but cold, cafe was busy, ordered a flat white and a burger .Sat at table directly in front of wood fire and warmed up,coffee and burger were great.Served by friendly people .Pictures of earlier times from district on walls.Nice, will now be a regular stop in future.
Awesome service, great atmosphere and staff and owners so friendly. Very helpful and can give info
on nearby Waikato River Trails.
Great place to have a cuppa (and a meal or snack) after the bike ride or after walking one of the local trails as we did. Lots of choice whether you want a little snack or a full meal. Love the fritata.
What a delightful place to eat. Lovely fresh food, fabulous coffee, very friendly operators and an interesting retro decor. Well worth a visit.
What a wonderful place. Great yummy food, coffee, and atmosphere. The lemon muffins, cappuccinos, and the big breakfast are well recommended. We received such a friendly welcome. Will definitely visit again, and it's worth a stop if you are passing thru. Such a find.
I got a Kiwi Burger standalone around 20 minutes before the kitchen closed and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had.

Great little cafe near the Arapuni Suspension Bridge (foot bridge). Popular with the trail bikers and hikers along with locals. Coffee was excellent as was my toasted sandwich. It has both indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor spaces were nice and comfortable. I want to go again to try their pies.
Wow what a fantastic cafe...1st time visiting, the food & coffee was amazing, staff we very friendly. We will be back.
Dropped by for a quick lunch. Coffee was decent and the burger was good. There were others like the savoury muffins and bagels on display which were affordable.
A must do for the bikers and the beautiful at heart!!! - - - there's a rustic yet retro vibe - - - a 'rebel' with a cause in a rural settlement. Rhubarb Cafe unites an outdoor covered courtyard bordered by rhubarb plants with a 'jive' of an indoor cafe - - - all set in grounds of mature trees and numerous raised beds filled with herbs - - - and an open sided cabin out back that is perfectly geared for small gatherings!
From a bacon buttie to a rhubarb and blueberry cake (depending on the season) the menu and cabinet food have every taste catered for with a bounty of delectable dishes - - - - all served by a brigade of 'bad' boys and girls who are utterly brilliant!
If this 'joint' isn't on your leather list or indeed your bucket list - - - IT SHOULD BE !!!
PS: A must try is the outstanding carrot cake with butter cream icing so thick you could get lost in it!
A welcoming and friendly staff. Pricing is competitive and reasonable (enlarge menu image). Cafe & restroom facilities clean and tidy. There is an all weather outside garden area. Thanks to our hosts.
Great little cafe. Our family of four all ate and it was all good. Great flat white. Sandwiches were all good. I see they are selling it. If looking for a weekend biz, this is the place every weekend it’s banging, i image weekdays are mild. I inly took a pic of this old school metal mug i liked there. Place is charming as tho. Like at a family members house, comfortable.
We had the Eggs Benedict with Salmon, and Bagel with Salmon. Both absolutely amazing, highly recommend. Customer Service exceptional. Rhubarb Cafe definitely a WOW factor from us.
Always wonderful food and served by friendly sociable staff. Can be busy on nice weekends, but sitting out under the shade sail while waiting is fantastic.
