Amazing meal... and to put it simply...You have to have the bread and truffle butter.
The beef tartare and Salmon Gravalax is as good as you'll get anywhere, the steak au poivre (beef cheeks) came to us highly recommended and lived up to it every mouthful. Duck pie was a generous portion of delicate pastry with enough flavours inside to keep anyone happy. We ordered the Kale and bitter lemon salad side which was a fabulous mix of flavours. Dulce de Leche creme brûlée and Cafe au chocolate had the sweet that we were hankering for to round off our meal. More than adequately accompanied by a supremecoffee.
Great meal with matching service from the amazing Becca to celebrate a birthday. We'll be talking about the truffle butter for some time to come!!
What an amazing place. The food was exquisite. Probably the best we have had in New Zealand. I will recommend Paris Butter to everyone.
Visited on Saturday for my birthday with a large group and used the private room.
Service was fantastic and food even better.
Beef cheek, clams and bread with truffle butter was exceptional. They all came out looking great and tasting amazing.
Everyone in the group loved their meals. Reasonably priced and decent sized portions which was great. Well worth it!
Espresso martinis were not great but the wine was. Will definitely be back
Thanks team
brunched it on a stella sunday morning
space vibe service feel top as good as can be
the food , as expected better than anticipated , prompt and flawless on the plate , slow scram with salmone grav , balanced simplicity at its best
the omelette , spot on - all the tiny touches setting it apart from something you would knock out at home
coffee , smooth and tasty ,
will be back as soon as possible
The food here is exceptional. So many bursts of flavour in one mouthful it’s too hard to describe! The duck for main and the Pina Colada style dessert were my favourites. This restaurant is also reasonably priced for the outstanding food, customer service and decor. It’s a real treat to eat here.
Thanks Paris Butter. What a fabulous night with amazing food. But most outstanding service shoutout is the care you took when I mentioned my friends very strict diet for health reasons. You didn't hesitate for her to contact you & prepared a meal especially. That was so appreciated. Five stars !
We came for a celebratory dinner last weekend and I just wanted to say what a great time we had - the food was absolutely wonderful (the terakihi and artichoke special should become a menu staple!) and we had lovely service from your wait staff, notably the waitress with the gorgeous cat tattoo. Thank you for a very memorable meal, we’ve been raving about it.
Beautiful food love the breakfast menu. I will recommend this Paris butter French restaurant to my family's and friends. Staff were excellent will be back again. 5/5....
Great flavours, wholesome and delicious. Obviously passionate about food, staff efficient and professional yet still warm and friendly. Not the often seen pretentious 'Emperor Has No Clothes ' menu, but solidly good dining. Reasonable price and nice wine list. We'll be back.
A big thank you to Nick and the guys for last night. The new menu and its flavour combinations are outstanding. The duck was the best I've ever had. Cooked perfectly. Thanks for the venison taster too... That's going to be a winner. See you in the next few weeks. Table 43. Cheers Jon
Outstanding in every sense! Impeccable front house and remarkably cheap for a degustation menu including: scallops, salmon, duck, eye fillet and 2 desserts. $75!! I would've happily paid $100 more, seriously. Hats off to the chef. If you haven't been there, you are missing on something quite special in Auckland. 5 STARS!
We had a great night and enjoyed ourselves.
The food was nice, wine match was very present, the stafff were friendly and attentive.
Would definitely recommend.
Very enjoyable dinner here. Can highly recommend the nz clams escargot style. Slick service especially when we had messed up our booking but the staff sorted a table out without any fuss despite being super busy. Much appreciated.
Love this place. The 5 course degustation is always the best choice
We were there for brunch and it was excellent. We had the Open Croque Monsieur and the French Farmer’s Assiette. I could go on about the details but the food was excellent and the service was excellent. Just go there.
Fantastic food - loved the steak and the soup starter. Service was great - James is a great host! Ambiance is relaxed and done well. Lots of good places around Herne Bay and Ponsonby but ParisButter is one of the best!
It was a very enjoyable celebratory evening. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and considerate. Ticked all the boxes for a special evening out. Will be back.
Paris Butter, which started its journey as more classic French fare and has now graduated to modern French fine dining-meets-Kiwi cuisine, pairs elegant decor with equally classy food. Their Menu du Chef is absolutely one of the best tasting menus on offer in New Zealand - read our full review on TheLuxeologist.com here.
Love this place. Elegant and beautifully decorated. A perfect place for a romantic date.
The Menu De Chef is highly recommended.
The snacks is amazing and made to perfection.
We love everything that was plated except for the last 3 treats. I would rate 4.5 star but there is only 4 or 5
The combination missed the mark, strictly base on our pallate.
The service is excellent and definitely recommending this place to others.
.
If there is only one thing that make me rate 4 or not 5 was the last 3 dessert.
Came here for a 7 course degistrstion secret menu two days after alert level 3 had been lifted. Because of Covid restrictions, we were lucky to get a reservation on a Friday night. Place was empty at first but slowly filled up around 7pm onwards. Each table was thoroughly spaced out which allowed nice privacy and ambience to meal. Food was absolutely delicious and creative to boot. Service was friendly and waiters had a good knowledge of their food and wine selection. We did have to wait quite a bit between the last three courses but we attributed that to the possibility of it being busy with takeaway as well as dining services. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other fine dining restaurants. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
I had the menu du chef and was pleasantly surprised. I loved all the innovative little starters and all the dishes were consistent. The reason for 4 stars not 5 is I think compared to other fine dining in Auckland, Paris butter is still lacking a bit. I enjoyed all the food but I wasn't blown away by each dish. If their main dishes had the level of innovation of their starting treats then this would be a 5.
Personally also liked how small and cosy the restaurant was. Didn't feel obnoxious.
Long overdue, I thought I'd share my lovely experience at ParisButter.
My family took me here for my 25th birthday and I had a great time. I hardly had time to take any pictures of all the nice dishes they served, but I managed to get a few.
The standout dish for me would be the sourdough bread with the truffle butter. That may sound boring but it was actually so damn delicious. Definitely go for the package that includes the sourdough bread and truffle butter!
For dessert, they even gave me a birthday card which I really appreciate. They also have a nice selection of drinks, plus my personal favourite, craft beer!
The staff here were lovely and very professional. The relaxed, tranquil atmosphere also adds to the experience.
Be prepared to fork out a few dollars for this fine dining experience, but its definitely worth it!
Excellent meal at Paris Butter. Staff were friendly and very helpful from the moment we walked in and answered all our questions. The food was amazing, well presented and were very good portions. The flank steak (main) was a highlight, as was the honey and ginger dessert. All the other courses had elements we enjoyed (e.g. the black garlic, herb oil, fresh fish, whipped butter). The snacks and treats were also a fun addition to the meal, highlighting some great New Zealand food ideas like onion dip, trumpet cones etc. Our only complaint was that we didn't feel the kingfish course compared well with the other courses on offer and fell a bit flat in relation. However, it was still good. I really liked the focus on local New Zealand producers and trying things that we wouldn't ordinarily eat. We will definitely return! FYI, this menu is seasonal so will change over time (and potentially on the day as the chef may decide to be creative!)
Service: 5/5
Food:5/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Been here first time couple weeks ago for a friend’s farewell party. The service, food and whole dining experience has absolutely blown me away. Will definitely come back for more.
Have been here twice for dinner , really like their deco!
We had their 6 course dinner both times , one year apart , love every single dishes, was amazing dinner both times.
Note: I would buy their home made butter if they sell them! I cannot believe how much bread I had with that butter spread!
Definitely one of the place we will bring our friends visiting us from overseas.
Excellent from start to finish. Food was superbly plated, great combinations - inspired but not weird. Every mouthful a sensation! Flavours were subtle but delicious like the minute thyme jelly squares in the pino colado dessert - a lovely surprise and so refreshing. Service was also fantastic - warm and friendly and super professional, no pomp or affectation! We had an unusual salmon sashimi-type starter with pieces of salmon rolled into sliced seaweed 'crazy pavers' - visually stunning, fresh, tasty with minuscule rolls of cucumber and courgette filled with things I don't remember what, but they were divine. For main course we had market fish - terakihi, soft full and juicy with a corn theme - colours, texture and flavours that were delicate, delicious and very satisfying. The dessert I'll leave as a mystery to be discovered. Oh, and the truffle butter, you could go just for that! Nick Honeymann also runs a restaurant in France. Well that explains some .... :)
You can have 2 courses, 3, or a degustation menu, and they're very happy to accommodate dietary requests. Can't wait to go back.
It was a dinner with a degustation menu at Paris Butter. It started with a number of snack dishes - egg cocotte, Monk fish; Nori rice tuile; gougère; potato & truffle veloute; chicken liver parfait & truffle butter with bread. The first entrée was venison tartare; the second entrée was pork & mushrooms in ravioli. The rivioli dish had a wonderful taste (& flavour). The main was lamb & braised beef cheek. For the desserts, we had rhubarb & coconut ice-cream, chocolate & lemon donuts, & snickers chocolate mousse with hazelnut ice-cream.
It surely was a lovely dinner - every dish had something special in it. The egg cocotte & the Monk fish were particularly good.

Food is 5/5:
The truffle butter that is served with bread is amazing, I would have purchased a jar if they sold it.
The salmon entrée was interesting as it comes out with some foam, the mains Roast Duck Breast and Steak were both excellent – the steal was tender and juicy and came out well presented.
The dessert which was Chocolate & Hazelnut with caramel icecream was rich and sweet, just how I like it.
Service is also 5/5: great from start to finish, checking regularly to see that we had enough drinks. There was an error during the main course which is why I had two mains, I got the steak dish instead of the duck which I was completely fine with, but the staff insisted that they serve the Duck as well (I enjoyed the steak more).
Atmosphere 4/5: the toilet is kind of shabby compared to rest of the restaurant, but I like how you get a small glimpse of the kitchen area when you need to go to the bathroom. The rest of the area is classy, and quite surprisingly large compared to how it is presented from the outside.
Our dining experience last night was divine. We loved the elegant decor and the beautifully presented food but most of all the service was perfect - even down to checking with us on the speed of service we wanted. We can’t wait to return and are already planning our next event.
We tried the $69 three course meal on a weekday evening and it was a great dining experience.
I selected the beef tartare, duck breast, and deconstructed vanilla cheesecake for my 3 courses, and the meal came with a complementary bread basket and a cute and unique little eggshell of some sort of pumpkin soup. All the dishes were plated beautifully and had surprisingly pleasant combinations of flavours.
The service was professional and got the right balance of being attentive and polite but still friendly and not overbearing.
Came here for my 19th birthday with 5 friends. Very Delicious creme brûlée. Great customer service and lovely restaurant. Highly recommended.
5 STARS!
I've been here twice now, both occasions were special events, and on both occasions I've left feeling highly satisfied.
I love the option where you choose your own three course meal for $69. I personally think this is good value for such high quality food. The restaurant also serves complimentary appetisers which is a genuine nice touch.
The serving staff are knowledgeable of the menu and always courteous in their checkups. I would recommend Paris Butter to anyone looking for a pleasant night out.
I have been there for diner:) atmosphere was gorgeous . I had a course with drinks. Was amazing with recommended wine! I had venison, snapper for main.
We had a seriously divine dinner here. Really attentive service and inventive, delicious food. The ambience was great too, a beautiful space. This is a great place to come for a special night out!
Extremely satisfied. Not hard to find a parking space. Waitress was very friendly and professional. Food was extremely well presented and tasted amazing! The salmon and steak was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!
Went with the wifey for dinner last night. Food was amazing. The tomato gazpacho was refreshing, an
d the potato veloute had a comforting, creamy texture that compliments the other appetizers.
The other courses to follow were delicious, but I was distracted by the wife and how good she looked so I'll let the photos speak the thousand words :
Good wine and location. Not many options for Vegans but the kind staff are always willing to find something for us to eat. Food is always tasty 🥂

Eight of us enjoyed a lovely evening meal here. We all had the chefs choice which was 5 dishes of beautiful food, elegant, tasty and so well presented. A great location for a special occasion.
What a pleasant surprise! I was pretty impressed with quality and taste of the food. 3 course for 65 dollars were pretty much bargain for the quality you get. Nice interior decoration very luxurious and comfortable. I think service can be improved by hiring more experienced staff as we had to wait quite a bit to get their attention. However, I will definately come back here again and try duck breast.
Best dining experience so far in auckland! Paris Butter beats all the big popular restaurant! The floor staff are super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. They do $65 for 3 course and the portion size us definitely worth it!
Been wanting to try this place for a long time, finally had dinner with a couple of girlfriends here.
$65 for 3 course seems good value, I had the beef tartare and duck breast, both tasted amazing. Creme Brûlée was a little too sweet for me but it didn't stop me from finishing it. Great food, great service, I will be back again.
Wow, a birthday dinner to remember! The chef's 5-course menu was fantastic from start to finish. The menu featured a tomato gazpacho, salmon, gnocchi, duck and a strawberry dessert and we will certainly return to try some other dishes from the menu. Service was attentive and friendly with excellent wine to match. The best meal I have had so far in New Zealand!
Inviting dining room, friendly service, attractive and tasty food. We enjoyed the tasting menu, which included numerous extra snacks. Highlights of the meal included a venison tartare dish, a beautiful quail main and a decadent chocolate and peanut snickers bar inspired dessert
Great restaurant ...lovely staff..had an amazing dinner last night...the waitress was amazing..and food out of this world...would recommend the lamb rack followed by bread and butter pudding.....keep up the good work...
Updated review 11/05/18: Tried the degustation menu which was such a good experience
Shan's Review:
Came here on Saturday night with the sis Roxanne Sarkari and had a lovely experience. The actual decor is so warm and romantic, i didn't expect it to be so beautiful inside.
The service was 10/10! We were greeted by a super friendly lady who was really chatty and down to earth. Our waitress was also super cute and helpful, and recommended things for us to try. Really enjoyed talking to them. It's good to see such a relaxed relationship between staff members at a restaurant, as this makes for an enjoyable experience.
We started off with the 'escargot' clams which were delicious! Garlicy, buttery and just yum. The complimentary breads with the paris butter are a must. The truffle butter is so good i could just keep eating it with bread.
For mains we both ordered an eye fillet with chickpea chips and i think it was a fennel mayo on the side. The steaks were cooked to perfection. They would cut like butter and it was a really generously sized eye fillet too. Much larger than what you would get in another restaurant such as Oyster and Chop. The Chickpea chips were good, i'd probably go for normal chips next time but my sis loved them. The fennel tasting mayo wasn't to my liking as in general i don't like aniseed flavour, but that's just me, again my sister loved it.
No space for dessert on this occasion as we were pretty much food coma'ed by 8.30pm.
Total bill came to $75 for the both of us including a 25% entertainment card discount.
We loved it so much that we're coming back here in the next week for my Birthday !
Ghaz's review: Heavenly is one word to describe this place. I'm not usually a fan of butter but if you're going to a place thats named "Paris Butter" then its mandatory for you to try it! They brought along some bread before we dug into out mains this was complemented with their delicious garlic butter mmm! The steak here was cooked to perfection, the servers were extremely lovely. I'll definitely be back soon!
We had been to Paris Butter previously for dinner but this time it was the Sunday brunch that attracted us - and the great thing about them is that they take bookings - such a rarity these days more's the pity.
After a slightly underwhelming start re water and menus arriving, our party of 4 got down to the serious job of deciding what to have from a menu. It’s one of those (rare) menus where I think “I could have any of these dishes”!
I had been drawn to the French Farmer’s Assiette, with fromage, soft boiled egg, parfait, tete de porc, tomato & feta after having read a review and so that was for me. The others had the Salmon Gravlax, with slow scrambled eggs, mustard creme fraiche and the Salade Niçoise, sashimi tuna, melon, potato, anchovy rouille.
We all very much enjoyed our dishes – and they looked very appealing as well. And significantly I’d have been very happy to have either of the other dishes. I did like the idea of a slightly deconstructed Salade Nicoise.
Having got their service act together we were impressed by the fact that 4 complimentary glasses of champagne arrived at the table. Now that’s how to handle the potential for having grumpy customers - very well done Paris Butter.
So top marks to Paris butter for the lovely food and being able to book, and for reading the signals about us not being too happy with the service initially. I do like their take on traditional French cuisine with a modern twist.
Would we go back? Absolutely. I’ve got to try the Salmon Gravlax and the Salade Niçoise.
The beef cheek with truffle juice is ridiculously delicious! The Duck pie comes with lobster flavour is also outstanding! Truffle butter is smooth & flavorsome. If you haven't tried this new menu yet, you won't want to miss it!
its my first time visit this restaurant tonight. We arrived in 5:30 pm , the staff very kindly and polite. We ordered to entree which is clam and beef tatare, that clam very soft and juiciness. Baked snapper and steak were so so tasty . At last, we choose special desert -pudding. I've never tasted such good pudding. Its very recommitted must try it. I definitely want to come back try other dishes!!
Had dinner here on a very rainy and windy Saturday night, wasn't expecting many people to be out but the restaurant was half full. The service was attentive and we were seated straight away with our drink orders taken. They bring out free bread to have with your meal -if you want truffle butter with it, you will have to purchase that, which we obviously did!
I had the parmesan soup to start. When it first arrived I was a little bit taken aback by how small the portion was. However, this soup is incredibly rich (and delicious), and the portion was more than enough. Had the ricotta tortellini as a main, which was tasty enough but nothing special. What I did like about it was that it had fresh dill in it, not really what you would expect in a tortellini but it worked well! My partner had the duck pie, which he said was excellent. All in all a good experience and am likely to return.
It was my first time visiting Paris Butter and we went with a group for brunch. At the beginning we were brought out bread, crossiants and pain a chocolat's along with their homemade jam and Nutella! There were all so tasty it was difficult not to completely full up on them! I then ordered the croque Monsieur, after all the pre bread and topping I was worried it might be too rich or filling but it was just perfect! I definitely want to come back and try their dinner menu!
Paris butter has the most beautiful ambience.
The decor and lighting was very romantic.
Service was brilliant and the young female waitress was very bubbly and helpful.
Me and a friend shared the duck pie and beef cheeks
The duck pie was nice but not amazing
Beef cheeks were tender and covered in the most amazing sauce
I will definitely be returning!
Brunch to die for! We had the croque monsieur for a Sunday brunch and I was blown away by the depth of flavour and creative presentation.
Definitely coming back to try the lunch and dinner menus!
Also the decor is beautiful so 10/10 for ambiance
Came here on the third day it opened after anticipating it for sometime via Vinnie's newsletter. Food was excellent. I had the Roasted Wagyu (main), Mushroom Gratin (side) and the Kiwi/Feijoa Cheesecake.
Service was excellent. Our waitress was really helpful and checked on us regularly to make sure that everything was alright.
I've been wanting to return ever since!
My compliments to Nick Honeyman and his team!
Had a great night at Paris Butter on Saturday night. Service was fantastic. Entrees were superb. Infact the entrees were the highlight of the menu. At our table the Parmesan soup, Beef tartare, and the chicken liver parfait were ordered. All were a 10/10, The mains were good but were overshadowed by how good the entrees were. I would have doubled up on the entrees and asked if some of them would be able to be turned into mains. I had Duck which was good, crayfish Mac n cheese was good and the pork was also ordered. None of these were as good as the entrees. The Desserts were very good too. On a side note we were over charged for 2 wines.
After having heard so much about this place and it's three week long waiting lists, I finally managed to enjoy an evening here in the heart of Herne Bay. It is a slick set up and attracts an older well to do clientele with it's French fusion cuisine. The standout for me was my crispy snapper main with its sublime bisque sauce which deserved high praise indeed. Would definitely have this again. Actually everything on the menu looked tantalising. A couple of minor points, the pork belly isn't the normal NZ style with crackling (served differently in France I guess), and the service a bit haphazard, we would've ordered another bottle of wine and more water if we had been able to find our waitress. However having said all that, we had fun and enjoyed the night, and it makes a nice change to find a French influenced restaurant so close by!
A wonderful dinner tonight at Paris Butter. Relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, elegant decor and delicious bistro food. We will definitely be back.
Combine ambient lighting, elegant decor and an impressive and comprehensive menu. What do you get? You get chic neighbourhood bistro, Paris Butter. Nestled in the heart of Herne Bay, this restaurant is worth venturing out to the suburbs for. We can’t say enough about the decor of this place. Everything was so elegant, fresh and contemporary yet at the same time the restaurant had warmth and intimacy. Table settings were simple yet refined and the service was outstanding. The staff really are an asset to Paris Butter and our waitress really took the time to explain everything on the menu in depth.
My partner and I were lucky enough to have dinner here with his parents. You need to book ahead, even on a Wednesday night because the place fills up! We went all out and ordered entree, main and dessert.
I had the leek and potato veloute. It was presented beautifully in a jug to pour over the solid contents in the bowl. It was deliciously rich, without being overpowering and perfect for a cold spring evening. My partner enjoyed the beef tartare but couldn't finish it due to the richness. The others got pork belly and the salmon. The salmon came as huge portion which you don't usually see at this type of restaurant.
My partner and I both had the lamb steak as our main and it was divine. If we hadn't eaten entrees we both would have wanted more! The others had the chicken and duck. Up until this point the service had been very attentive and informative, then we were given dessert menus and forgotten about.
By this time the restaurant was full and the staff were starting to look a little less composed. My partner and I eventually ordered desserts, they came out promptly but were unfortunately disappointing compared to the other dishes of the night.
Overall it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Auckland and would love to go back if we get the chance.
Last night, I celebrated my birthday at Paris Butter. Located in the heart of Herne Bay, the restaurant opened in May this year, serving classic French cuisine mixed with seasonal fare and exotic flavours inspired from around the globe. We enjoyed a dinner full of delicious food along with beautiful cocktails & wine.
To begin, we started with drinks, some of us starting with red wine from their expansive wine menu. I chose a Tamaroska cocktail. With Peppermint-Vanilla Infused Vodka, Cherry, Tamarillo, Lime & Mint, this was sweet, fruity, light and refreshing. My friend chose a Mt Blanc, served in a martini glass, with Cinnamon-Clove Infused Bourbon, Banana-Chocolate Liquor, Nutella. This was smooth, sweet & creamy – the perfect treat for chocolate lovers!
Our table of 8 were served complimentary bread before ordering our mains, some of which I managed to photograph. My Prawn Spaghetti, with sobrasada, saffron, root vegetables & sauce bisque was incredible! The prawns were juicy, fresh & succulent, and the sauce was rich & flavoursome while subtle, complementing them perfectly.
Other mains we ordered included the Southern Lamb Steak served with kale, truffle jus & Paris mash, Risotto aux Champignons with hazelnut & grana pedano, and Confit Duck Leg with cassoulet lentils & truffle vinaigrette. Everyone was very satisfied with the full, hearty portions and mouth-watering flavours!
We had birthday cake for dessert, a chocolate hazelnut cheesecake from Bluebells Cakery decorated with flowers, hazelnut praline & macarons. There was only a small cakage fee of $3 per person as we weren’t having desserts from Paris Butter, but if I hadn’t bought a birthday cake I would have been partial to the creme brulee or the Valrhona bitter chocolate delice from their tempting dessert menu.
All in all, we absolutely loved our experience at Paris Butter, made all the more wonderful by the wholesome food and excellent customer service. The wait staff were not only attentive all night, but also incredibly warm and welcoming, making a special occasion even more special. I’ll definitely be recommending Paris Butter to anyone looking for a luxurious and hearty fine dining experience!
Tamaroska $22
Mt Blanc $17
Prawn Spaghetti $33
Southern Lamb Steak $33
Risotto aux Champignons $27
Confit Duck Leg $29
Nested within Ponsonby is this trendy new restaurant.
The interior is not huge, but tastefully and elegantly decorated. We visited in the evening, so the place was dimly-lit, which provided a very intimate ambience.
The service staffs were friendly, with gorgeous French accents, and great senses of humour.
The food did not disappoint. The complimentary bread starters was soft and fluffy, with yummy crunchy crusts.
Being a vegetarian I was most relieved to see that there was a vegetarian main. The mushroom risotto was rich and divine, it was pretty amazing how much flavour they managed to infuse into the sauce. I'm normally not a fan of kale because I find them too bitter, but the way they were cooked all crispy and light complimented the rest of the dish flawlessly.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the Mt Blanca - vodka with Nutella and banana. It was punchy and complex in flavour, definitely the perfect dessert cocktail.
We were actually celebrating a friends' birthday so brought along our own cake. Not only did they store it in the fridge for us, they were also happy to provide plates and cutlery. Such service standards is always seen ;)
The only suggestion I would give is for them to provide more vegetarian options. But all in all, the lovely evening was had :)
We loved this new restaurant! Loved the decor - relaxed and full of character yet still classy. Loved the staff, fun , relaxed, very knowledgeable and attentive. Best of all was the really exciting menu...interesting, delicious food, large portions, new ideas. Will be back soon!

My prospects aren't good: Paris Butter is not good for my waistline and destroys any dreams to look like a supermodel.
Yet my tastebuds and belly sing a different song and couldn't be more satisfied. The meals were simply wonderful and the portions were strangely generous - with a burly hubby, portions are everything to please his highness.
My girlfriend and I couldn't even make it to the desserts so sadly this means I'll have to come back.
Service was generally excellent. I'm a bit of a stickler for waitstaff that don't over attend so I did find one slightly too much.
Otherwise, what a brilliant addition to the jervois hood which has a lot of poncey food but nothing as fulfilling as this. I will be back more frequently than my hips would like.
We booked for a table at 8pm but some friends got there half and hour early and was told that the table was ready. The inside of the restaurant felt like a cottage rather than a high end restaurant, very relaxing and cosy. The best bit was the wine locker around the back.
Friendly service and did come multiple times since we our table came at different times.
Even though it was a place that did individual meals, we managed to share what we had ordered. The highlight for me was the truffled eggs. The eggs were cooked just right and had just the right consistency with an amazing flavour. The other items we tried were also quite good but this dish was what made the night for me. I personally found that the entrees were more memorable than the mains and the desserts were a bit flat.
Definitely a place to try if you like simple delicious food.
A solid 5/5 for the food and service here. I had been told by a few friends that the chicken liver is a must have, and I am so glad I chose it! The duck is hands down THE best duck I have ever had. It was meaty, melts away from the bone and the skin is thin and ever so crispy. Highly recommend.
Went here for a Wednesday night dinner - food was outstanding - 5/5, however service needs to catch up a bit. Very noisy restaurant so hard to hear, and quietly spoken waitresses did not help this. Also were left waiting in the cold front doorway while they reset our table - could have been a bit more hospitable and suggested we wait in the bar or somewhere more comfortable? Would definitely go back for the food with the hope the service is brought up to speed.
We tried Paris Butter for Sunday brunch. They were fully booked but they managed to find us a table outside under one of the heaters which suited us fine. We had the pate (divine - so much so we ordered another), the Christchurch black truffle scrambled eggs (slightly watery but great flavour) and finished with rice pudding. We purchased a carafe of the rose from Provenience for $28 - good value and a great wine. Total cost $130. So to sum up, great food, charming staff - we will be back.
What a fantastic evening we had Friday night.
My partner was celebrating his birthday and had flown from Australia for the occasion.
Absolutely loved the food, and the impeccable service.
Thank you Paris Butter for making our night.
Went here for dinner a few nights ago and had an amazing time. The food was fantastic (the gin cured salmon and the beef cheek are to die for!) and the service is just as good. Definitely going to be recommending this to friends and family. Can't wait to go back!
Great expectations but somehow disappointed?
I was looking forward to visiting Paris Butter tonight but it didn't live up to the hype. Lovely waitress, pretty restaurant but plastic flowers, really? Good entree but average main, the butchers cut did not deliver the same wow factor as the very similar offering at Ponsonby Bistro or The Engine Room and the delay in settling our bill with the ever annoying tip option ended the night on a low. Probably won't be back which is a shame as it was destined to be our local.
Absolutely Divine! True Ambrosia!
I went to Paris Butter last weekend, as I had been hearing nothing but excellent reviews and hype, and I was just as astounded as the rest! We started with the venison carpaccio & parmesan soup to entice our taste buds before the mains, and the flavors were just remarkable. The way the chefs had combined an array of flavors that so perfectly contrasted and complimented each other awakened all of my taste buds. I was fearful that I had peaked too soon by ordering the right entree, but my doubts were put to rest when our mains (the butchers cut & "KFC" confit chicken) arrived. Once more I found myself lost in the luscious flavors of each dish. Having been so mesmerized by the food so far, I did something I normally do not; I ordered dessert. I must say I'm glad I did! We got the creme brulee and the kiwi & feijoa clafoutis which both were dulcet and delicious. The staff was great, the interior was absolutely stunning and the whole experience a 5 stars. I would definitely recommend putting this venue on your list. I will be back!
Such a wonderful experience! The food was so flavorful and looks gorgeous , the waiter and chef were friendly and professional. At the end, the chef even came out to us with a complimentary dessert! Such a surprise! Guess we were lucky😀
We went to Paris Butter for the first time yesterday and we were not disappointed. We had a 7:30pm reservation for the 7 course menu.
Every dish was executed with such perfection. The chefs play with the beautiful flavours of the quality ingredients. They utilise texture and colour so well, that every mouthful is a different experience. The chefs bring the dishes to the table and explain each item on the plate.
The chefs also cater very well to dietary requirements - be sure to mention this in your booking. The staff also confirmed this when we arrived. We had delicious duck mains, in place of the beef. The duck was so beautiful and tender. I'm very picky about how meats are cooked but I had no complaints.
The waitstaff were wonderful and attentive. They were very warm and friendly but also didn't disturb active conversation. They were smooth in collecting dishes and also made sure to refill water without disruption.
Would recommend. Worth Trying.
Nested in a neighborhood setting, offers a more relaxed private dining experience where it feels the whole restaurant opened just for your booking. Overall it's a refined experience, perfect for date nights and special occasions. You won't be disappointed.
Liked:
Wagyu Tri-tip. Wasn't expecting a cheaper cut, but the execution was absolutely spot-on perfect. Tasted like it was treated with a quick smoke/binchotan, absolutely devine.
Beetroot Sorbet: Clean, not too sweet, citrus rinds brighten the end. Perfect finisher. Should be served after the caramel cake (I'd scrap the cake altogether).
Bread and butter: Bread wasn't cut fresh, or it was but the reheating left it dry. truffle/garlic butter was very delish.
Mushrooms : intense flavours, very moreish, belongs in a pie. A little too much as a main, but flavours amazing.
Potato (snack): Some kind of miso? based potato puree soup. One of the best I've had. Huge umami. Slight bonito undertones.
Below Par:
Fish - both fish dishes were lacking in execution. The cooked fish was overdone, the raw starter was lukewarm and lacked texture with a slight fishy aftertaste.
Although evolution menu sounds short at 6 courses, they bring out many snacks and bites at the beginning and end, so I wouldn't worry. Drinks $20+
Service was immaculate, I liked the touch of warm towels and the little gift at the end. $175pp.
Takes AMEX. Reservation is required.
We visited just before New Years and had a fantastic meal (Evolution menu) with Wagyu rib and eye fillet as the mains. I loved every dish; the trevally and scallop with asparagus were my favourite. The orange dessert reminded us of our beloved and prolific orange tree. Well worth a visit!
Absolutely perfect. I had started to get a bit disillusioned with degustation fine-dining as the last few I've been to just hadn't met my expectations, Paris Butter redeemed the category for me! Everything from the moment we entered till we left was perfect. The food was super delicious, presentation superbly immaculate, atmosphere was spot on and the staff were just the best. I could go on about each dish we had but what's the point, it's going to change there's only tasting menus so just get down there and dig in.
ParisButter was highly recommended by our friend who goes there regularly and it didn’t disappoint. The service and ambience is elegant and the food is just amazing. The value for money is actually very good compared to other expensive fine dining restaurants in Auckland and come in generous portions. Also beware that the menu and wine list changes frequently as well so be prepared to be surprised every time you visit! We came here for our wedding anniversary which was perfect but it’s also very suitable for group or small party settings! Highly recommended!!
Went in for the collaboration with Teresa, food and cocktails were perfect and was easily the best dining experience I have ever had. We even got to dine at the young industry table which gives passionate people a chance to experience this incredible restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again
Great restaurant. My wife and I dined here tonight and having heard of it before but never been, were looking forward to some fine food. We weren’t disappointed. From the chefs take on classic kiwi dip in the shape of NZ (immaculately done) to the delectably complex chocolate dessert the food did not disappoint. The service was also nothing short of perfect. There when you needed something with great charm and banter and also left to enjoy the meal. Credit to the entire team. Will definitely recommend.
Had a lovely evening here. Beautiful presentation. French style. Tasted delicious, but not as memorable as I would expected. The snacks were the highlight. Service was good.
Fine dining at its finest. Had the great opportunity to dine here while they were having a collaboration with Lillius (another great fine dining restaurant). Starting with snacks and ending with snacks, I was able to taste so many different unique flavours. The food was presented very professionally and the taste was beyond imaginable. The staff were attentive and great. This place is a must-go if you are wanting to experience some French fine dining.
