One of the most cosiest cafes in the heart of the CBD.
Staff service is the most friendly and welcoming. The decor of the cafe is filled with lots of art and preloved furniture along with shelves of books and board games. Lighting is warm and dim with few small tables and a larger communial table.
The cafe has an extensive coffee/non coffee/tea menu and a wide range of food options. The matcha latte comes with the option to be made with almond or coconut milk. I recommend to have it with coconut milk as the creaminess and fragrant of coconut really adds another dimension to the light matcha fragrance.
Love their atmosphere. Staffs soo friendly too.
A place that will never disappoint you, a bowl of warm porridge is exactly what I need in the winter morning, will come again......worth trying
Excellent service, excellent food. Queer friendly!
Would recommend to all - especially if you are looking for a place to sit and write.
Full of books to read and games to play.
Bf recommended this place . He mentioned it’s good and we went and had Açai bowl & bacon and egg.
The fact that we had to sit outside isn’t a bad thing as it does give that nice / cosy yet busy foot traffic kind of vibe.
It’s nice sitting outside while having a good conversation while sipping on coffee :)
Delicious food. It was really busy but the food still came out really quickly. Great atmosphere, lots of games and books for people to use. Wifi password didn’t work, but I didn’t want to bother busy staff about it. Food was delicious and I wish I’d gone back
Remedy coffee features everywhere when you search for top 10 cafes and coffee in Auckland so we had to try it out. We admit, it lives up to its reputation.
Excellent food (the bagels are divine) quaint decor and all ar very decent prices. The coffee is fresh and makes for a great start to the day!
Tried their coffee twice but didn't enjoy it. Not my taste. Not sure where they get their beans from. Food on the other hand was good, also the interior of the shop looks nice.
A very cute place right opposite the civic centre in the heart of Auckland. I love the planter with the onion soup recipe. Absolutely jam-packed on a Friday morning!
Since it’s rated so highly for coffee, I ordered a flat white. It is LITERALLY the best I’ve had in Auckland. Without a doubt- a strong recommend!
Came here for a light brunch with a friend, it’s a little hidden gem, with lovely food and a unique store! There’s a large array of board games to play, and the place seems very home-y.
Didn’t get to try the coffee, but the bagels here are really good! Highly recommend the chicken and cranberry with Brie bagel!
a bustling wee cafe this is. can’t say the interior is to my taste, but it definitely has it’s own thing going on. have been twice because my sister loves this place. perfect place to go if you want a slice of ‘small town’ in the centre of the city. good food, good price, good coffee. v wholesome. once again service was as expected of a cafe :))

I’ve heard of Remedy for a while as one of the most popular cafe in CBD. Nice vibe and quick service. However I didnt enjoy my coffee that day much as it was lukewarm and quite strong for a single shot.
I was passing by and stopped in for a coffee, I'm very glad I did. The shop is small and cosy, the staff friendly. The double flat white I ordered was delicious. Coffee was rich, not too hot so there was no burned taste, just great coffee! 4.5/5
A little cafe tucked away on a busy street was a good place to meet a friend for lunch. Very cosy and small as well as busy. Quite limited on food choices but a wide range of drink available. Ordered the matcha (green tea) latte and it was good and the BLT bagel was good as well, though the bagel was a bit tough in my option.
Would have given this place 5 stars if it hadn‘t been for the food. I ordered the chicken bagel which looked quite nice but lacked in taste. The chicken tasted like nothing and I could not finish it. Apart from that, the place was awesome though. Yummy coffee as well as great atmosphere. Such a cosy little cafe, I will definitely be back just for a coffee.
Damn, that’s some great coffee! Loved the place, nice and cozy. Quite small but it gives you that warm feeling of home. Anyway, back to the coffee! Damn, that’s some great coffee! 😁 ☕️☕️☕️
Always walked passed this cafe, but never had the chance to walk in. From the reviews on instagram, I decided to finally give this cafe a try! I do not regret my decision! I love the vibe of this cafe. Has a vintage style! Their iced coffee with milk and ice cream, is by far my favourite. You can just taste the coffee and ice cream; a good balance of both! Their flat white and cappuccino is wonderful as well. My friend ordered the fluffy too! Their barista is skilled and super friendly, making my coffee extra hot without me asking. You will surely be pleased with your cuppa!
All together, the Remedy coffee is probably the best place in Auckland if you want to have a coffee or a tea or even have a wonderful meal. Great staff and awesome atmosphere. An experience to repeat
Here is my regular cafe. Sooooo nice Flat white and Moc and cold coffee as well!! And its perfect vintage vibe. I love it. And crew is really kindness and lovely ♥️ + alway perfect Latte art!
There are always lots of people in this shop. I usually go there on Saturday or Sunday's morning.
I really loved their flat white which has creamy tastes of milk but also strong tastes of coffee. It's one of the most tasty flat white in the city center, I think. But their muffin or patisseries are lil too sweet for me even with coffee.
Their stuff are very friendly in good way wiz nice smile. I'll try their meal someday.
A friendly place, especially tourist friendly, Remedy café sits between the STA travel centre and an Irish pub, across from the CIVIC centre on Queen St. It is not a huge place, with a few tables amd box seats outside, a few more inside, in an assortment of a mix-match style. One wall is stacked with well loved, well travelled books; put to rest finally from being on the road, swapped for another one to while away on rainy days. The shelf on the other side hordes a stack of board games, graphic novels and comics, neighbouring a vintage arcade game machine.
Looking for breakfast I stumbled across this place. I had a freshly made fruit salad with yoghurt and honey +chorizo feta roasted vege salad. It was full of chorizo and super yum. the coffee was well made and the service was great.
Had a really nice experience here this morning. It's a smallish cafe but has a great atmosphere inside, you're surrounded by lots and lots of books and also an old gaming thing at the back. The staff are really friendly and brings water to you when you sit down. Most of their food looks organic from the menu and the cabinet good display food also looks rather delicious. I just ordered a coffee, which is one of the best ones I've had this week, can not fault it one bit. It's a place where you really want to just sit down with someone and talk. The couch is comfy :) would definitely come back here, I love it and can't think of a reason for anyone not to.
Great coffee, fantastic atmosphere :) and what a nice idea! People can just drop by and grab a book or play a game and just chill out. Marianne just had to play a few games on the console. Quite nostalgic ;) Handy location after a stroll in the city. Friendly folks with welcoming smiles. Will definitely be back. Thanks guys!
Cute little coffee shop. Used to be my daily coffee stop on my way to work. Personally prefer one female barista her espresso making. They have variety of bakery and breakfast option as well. Worth to stop by take a book to read and filling up your tummy.
A good place to talk with my friend, and the price is not high, you can sit there for almost two hour, and it's ok.My friend order white flat, and I have the fluffy, which is free for the child,it is just milk,no coffee inside!
Great atmosphere and pretty great food. Prices aren't bad either. Would definitely go back just for the atmosphere and experience. Only complaint would be its a bit crowded and hard to find seating
Super love their flat white and mocha! So good! They have nice latte art too 😻😻 Cosy ambience and super friendly staff 😍❤️ definitely will be back again
I work in the city and have found Remedy to be one of the most consistently good places to grab a coffee and bagel!
Today I had a flat white and a bagel with cream cheese and bacon jam- an item they have recently taken off their menu board but will still make if you ask for it.
Over the many years I have been coming to remedy I have never had a coffee that wasn't spot on fabulous!
The only draw back to Remedy is its popularity as it's not always possible to get a table in the morning so be prepared to take away!

Bagels and hot chocolate...........
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the new zealand cafes certainly do justice to this.
Crunched for space the cafe also allows u to share tables with your fellow patrons and have also arranged for a few seatings outside on the street.
1) Hot chocolate : Compared to the other hot chocolates I have had this was a bit light in terms of creaminess and dark chocolate. Nonetheless it was delicious. Plus I loved the design they made on the top of a leaf it just makes u want to take a sip. The addition of marshmellows on the side were definitely a plus.
2) Hummus bagel : The standout dish for me. The bagels here are huge and can be finished with 2 helpers. The bread was nice and soft and the stuffing was outstanding. The combination of rocket leaves ( very fresh ) Sundried tomatoes, jalapenos ( give it that extra taste to tone down the hummus ) and the hummus were outstanding. Worth having this dish.
3) Pesto chicken: This bagel though was a bit of a letdown and was too dry for my liking. The bagel had chunks of shredded chicken ( fresh and juicy ) rocket leaves and pesto and cream cheese smeared on either side of the bagel. The pesto had some nice pepper as well which seemed to have been grinded in the paste but the cream cheese over powered this flavour. Hence it was an ok ok bagel.
4) Chicken sandwich : Huge piece of 5 grain bread which had some chicken, cheddar cheese, few green vegetables and mustard mayonnaise. For some reason this sandwich just dint seem right. Maybe it was too much of mayo or the strong flavour of the cheddar cheese, god knows !!!!!!! Maybe you can try out some other stuff that they have since this was average.
The staff though was very friendly and serviced us well. But for those making payments in cash be aware the person handling the billing dint seem to be that good at maths or she was overburdened at the since I had to go back to her 3 times for repaying me the correct amount.
Great coffee stop for catch up or alone to read some of the books . stop in a lot as the coffee and staff are fab . the food is good too super fresh but it does take a little longer and man are the sandwiches big Doorstoppers.
I got just 5 grain toast(vegan!) and avocado with iced black coffee with almond milk. My total came to 14 dollars which I think is ridiculously amazing value for the amount of food for me.
The place is small but laid out so there is enough seats inside and outside tho it may be hard to get a table. That being said, take the opportunity to talk to friendly strangers at the large sharing table if there aren't enough seats! You may even end up playing some board games they have available as well as a selection of books.
Wonderful wondering place definitely coming back here again, the service is spectacular I'm amazed I never stepped inside all this time.
Only tiny complaint : didn't like the mason jar but that's just me :,(
Bonus: 50c off if you bring your own cup & a free retro video game ! Can this place get any cooler
Update:
I found remedy's cakes& muffins are very fresh and tasty! Perfect with their awesome coffee! Plus their unique and lovely cutlery, how could I not to visit this place?❤❤
Love this home-like little cafe! I like grabbing a coffee & a muffin, sitting there like sitting in my own living room.
Their coffee or any other drinks are all good! Tried the turmeric latte today, and it was perfect! Sadly the cafe was full of people so I had to sit outside.
Popped in here on my way to work. Very cosy, bohemian-style cafe. Ordered the chia pudding & a flat white. Coffee was good & the chia pudding was very clean & refreshing (if that makes sense when it comes to food!). Service was good. I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of their menu.
Quirky little cafe close to Queen Street. The fit out has been done exceptionally well. Lots of seating options inside & out with the couch & window seats particular favourites.
Good range of menu options. On this visit I grabbed a takeaway coffee which was well made.
Service always friendly & efficient
They have such a nice atmosphere I come here with a friend for catch up sessions and we are never disappointed. The coffee and hot chocolates taste amazing. The staff are just amazing people and are so nice and kind.
Such a cute little cafe! All the staff are incredibly friendly and it has such a welcoming vibe. The smashed avocado and bagels here are superior and incredibly fresh! Have taken many friends here, so nice as there are few homely cafes in this area
I had a sandwich from Remedy yesterday
Chicken Bacon Cheddar & Rocket on 4 grain bread
Quite delicious
Quirky decor and atmosphere
Friendly efficient staff
I will go back!
Great cafe. Some of the best coffee in the city (Red Rabbit roasters) and a small, high-quality menu of food. All at a reasonable price and cool cafe space.
Honest to god they use the best ever ice cream in there iced coffees I can't even deal with it, if your looking for a nice coffee and some people watching this is definitely the place
Bang in the middle of town this place is a cute little spot to kill a bunch of time and not spend much money. They do really good coffee, theres loads of papers and magazines, books, board games and travel guides so youll surely find something you like.
Chia pudding w fresh fruit and bagels are super comforting and clean.
What a cute little cafe, not what you expect in the CBD. If you're lucky you get a table and can linger here over a coffee. I had a latte and a small slice of the zesty chocolate cake which comes with yoghurt and a swirl of honey on the side. It all looked rather elegant when it arrived to the table. I'll be visiting here again soon.
As this cafe's name "remedy" I got remediation with mellow coffee and tasty food there. Smashed avocado was very good mouthfeel and all raw materials were fresh. Music was great! Service was good. There were lots of good books there, too. But there is a really small cafe, just a few seats available inside.
Coffee is really good. The coffee maker is a girl with full tattoo in her arm, so cool! But the shop is too small, if there are many customers in their shop ,that would crowed and noise. So take away is better choice.
Absolutely delicious coffee. Cute, relaxed little space. I had the #1 avo on toast and my friend had the breakfast bagel and both were delicious. Not fancy but wholesome and delicious. The tomatoes were so fresh and flavourful I meant to ask if they were home grown. All at a reasonable price. Two thumbs up.
Very nice café in the heart of Auckland CBD. The atmosphere of the place itself is great, with lots of books and games. You'd certainly feel very comfortable there.
Besides that, the coffee is good, as well as the food. I had a delicious bacon and mushroom quiche. They also have an outstanding chutney that you can (and should) spread all over the food.
Excellent coffee and service. Melbourne style 👍🏼 could have more ready made options available for a quick takeaway brekkie or snack. Great deal forBYO cup
Best staff! Love this place! So nice and relaxed with plenty reading material to help you relax and enjoy your coffee or tea. Had a phenomenal chicken pesto wrap..so good I bought 2 and didn't regret it! Plus I always appreciate anywhere that asks how I'd like my Chai tea! Hunners or cinnamon please 😍
Really great place, haven't tried the food but the coffee is some what in the middle. Some days the coffee is great an other days it alright. The place is really inviting and i really didn't mind sharing tables with strangers because sometimes you can strike a simple conversation with them. It good to be off your phone. They not only have a nice collection of books and comics but also board games to keep everybody entertained. I suggest that everybody give it a try for them selves but i will be back.
Finally got to try this cafe after walking past it everyday! The cafe occupied a nice little corner space and had window views looking out to the main street. Inside, the space resembled a study/living room filled with books and a sofa! I was really keen on trying their smashed avocado thick toasts and t didn't disappoint me! The thick toast was crispy and coated with grains, which made it super healthy. The toppings were avocado, tomatoes and feta cheese. It was really clean eating that was also nice and filling for only $9. The only dissatisfaction that I have would be the slight lack of flavour. I personally like savoury things very flavoursome so just eating avocado paste itself is a little bit below my standards. However, I did enjoy my lunch today!
Love this place! I'm not in the city often, but my wife introduced me to remedy, a few weeks back, there is an English fellow here who just gives this place soul. Great feel to the place, with books, bored games and remind me of my nans house back in the UK. The baking to reminds me of my nan, great homemade food and reasonably priced for the centre of the city. Highly recommend.
Cute little coffee great for Hipsters 👯. They have good Coffees and Tea's. Quick Lunch Items in the cabinet or a menu to order : Toast, Muesli, Fruit Salad, Smached Avocado, Bagels. Etc.
Highlight: They have Mate Tea. A SouthAmerican tea full antioxidants. 😊👍
Enjoy a work- break at Remedy they also have games like : Scrabble, Monopoly, Buckaroo Pac-Man and more .. 😆 old style entertainment.
Mommy friendly :? Is a small coffee no suitable for babies because is not space for trolley ☝ and is not a changing room available. 😐
Really enjoyed my Mochachino here at Remedy, and the service from the girls was good. The place was super busy but not overcrowded - we did however have to share a table with other diners. A bit disappointed with the smashed avocado on toast - I was expecting a lot more avocado on the single thick piece of toast.
Recommended spot. A nice ambience, great coffee, simple and tasty food. If you are looking for a good coffee in Auckland cbd, this is your spot.
Grabbed two coffees here, found them average and differing in taste. Maybe we caught them at an off time, disappointed after reading a few good reviews.
Love the atmosphere though. With big armchairs and comfy sofas as well as board games, really enjoy the cosy atmosphere. Would give it another shot.
Probably the best coffee in the city. Only downside is the long wait.
I randomly found this place one morning and now 10 months of living in the city I won't go anywhere else for coffee.
The staff are friendly. Always welcoming with a smile and asking how the day is going.
This place can get busy most days but it's so worth the wait for a coffee.
Their food is all fresh. Their sandwiches are delicious and the selection of bread is a lovely wee extra.
You can sit outside and sit and watch the world go by easily.
I would highly recommend this place!
You can't go wrong with Remedy. And even if something DOES go wrong, the top customer service will set things right. In fact, the only thing that goes wrong is that you can't find a seat because this place is so popular because it's so good. Tiny space but the atmosphere is perfect. Rest on the couch, play a board game with a friend, grab a book to read... trade in a book if you want! Quality food and great, strong coffee. I've been there several times and, today, I had the black rice pudding. Superb.
Great service and atmosphere. Was busy on the Saturday morning I visited. Coffee was strong and not what I ordered but they replaced it and forgave the surcharge for the soy. On the whole a good experience & reputable coffee.
Love sitting here with some avo on toast and a pot of herbal tea (great selection) catching up with friends. The homemade slices have always been great when I have been feeling adventurous :)
Fantastic little relaxed cafe, great choice of hot drinks...which I'm needing right now..not just coffee! Good wholesome food! And the staff are friendly and helpful even when I'm taking to look to choose off the extensive menu! Just wish it was slightly bigger so I can always grab a seat!
One of my favourite cafes in the city. Staff are amazingly friendly, interior is warm, cozy but quirky. The music is always good (usually jazz). And they make a really good long black! Highly recommended.
One of my favourite cafe spots in the city. Partly due to the delicious food they serve (the smashed avocado on toast along with one of their perfect coffees is the best way to start a monday in my opinion). Partly due to the lovely staff who are always friendly and chatty. And partly due to the homely feel of the cafe, along with the well stocked book swap which I use frequently. Great spot.
Oooh love the interior over there! Great! It seems always busy, which is also a good sign. The people are very friendly but what they serve is not too special. I ordered a cappuccino and the milk foam was far from well... milk foam. I heard the Chai Latté is very good so maybe I will give that a try but else, I wouldn't go back.
After reading reviews on Zomato about how great the chai lattes are here, so finally decided to give Remedy a try.
As soon as I walked in the staff were amazing, so friendly and attentive. I queried if my bagel could be made slightly different from what was offered and it wasn't an issue in the slightest. The interior was interesting, multiple board games were on offer and stacks of books piled up.
The chai was excellent, perfect temperature and not too cold which tends to be an issue. The breakfast bagel was very filling and I was very impressed that the staff member who was serving me, reduced the price when I requested no bacon as this is not a common occurrence!
This is such a great place and I know I'll be back. The two staff members that were working this morning were amongst the best I've ever seen. Really awesome cafe & atmosphere!
Remedy Coffee is in a great location opposite the Civic Theatre in downtown Auckland. The menu is small and consists mostly of salads, which makes for a healthy lunch. I had the chicken salad with red onion, lettuce, capsicum and cucumber and my friend ordered the same but with bacon and avocado added. The salad dressing was delicious and the coffee is excellent. The book-lined walls and board games make this a cosy cafe environment and would be particularly inviting on a cold winter's day. Takeaway coffee in your own cup is discounted 50 cents, which is great to see. If I was a local, Remedy would easily become my regular coffee spot.
Pro: alternative vibe, good coffee, free wifi
Con: No plant-based pastries
What a cool place this is! Looking out you see the Civic and inside heaps of books. Altogether, I loved the alternative style - which is such a relieving contrast from the madness on Queen Street. This is a cafe you'd expect in Grey Lynn but not in the CBD. Coffee was great and staff very friendly. I love the fact that they offer 50c off for people getting takeaway coffee and bringing their own cup - setting a good example!
this is a great little coffee that gives you the idea of a true kiwi experience!they serve amazing yoghurt with fresh fruit. Simple, unalloyed beautiful. If you are in the area and you want a coffee please go to remedy. I sincerely reccomend you to check this place out, its great.
This is such a cute, homey, old fashioned-looking cafe. There's such a relaxing vibe about this place- piles of books upon the wall shelf, and even board games for you to enjoy. The staff were friendly and welcoming and their Chai Latte is a proper one and none of that slightly-flavoured-warm-milk that everywhere else seems to classify as a chai latte. They offer sweet or spicy chai and being indecisive as always, I went for half-half which was not a problem for them at all. It wasn't an amazing chai, it could have done with a touch more flavour, but still a lot better than most places out there. I'm definitely going to be returning often and bringing friends for that breather from the stress of uni or just for general catch up times.
If you’re looking for a relaxing, homey atmosphere with delicious coffee and good food this could be the place for you. As their name says, they really are a great remedy to the rush around the CBD. If having free wifi with your coffee is too boring for you, their walls are lined with bookcases (you can swap your books with theirs), comfortable wooden furniture, a couch, board games, and they even have an arcade machine that you can play for free. The staff’s really friendly and approachable too. It’s a nice place to go to I’m definitely coming back.

Coffee for coffee nerds and gluten-free bread options!
Had a great single origin, natural coffee - prepared with a moccamaster. Baristas were really knowledgeable and so talented! Incredible teamwork and respect on display. Food was delicious - the Kozu "bagel" (on GF bread!) was a unique blend of Korean and Arabic influences. Halloumi cheese and Sriracha - genius!
I didn’t even intend to come to this place, but when I saw locals spilling out onto the street in front of shop I pivoted my plans. Awesome and friendly. Really cool ambience inside, perfect for getting cozy, jamming to the music playing. Single origin coffee was brewed really well. I didn’t get food so can’t comment on that.
Great coffee, great staff, and great food!
The Kazu bagel was an excellent and tasty breakfast, and was so good with a cup of coffee.
Their moccamaster workflow is so good and made the juiciest cup of coffee with such clear and distinct flavor!
Don't sleep on the single origin, you'll enjoy every sip!
I love the cozy ambiance and the delicious coffee at your coffeeshop. It's always a delightful experience!"
Had the “Power Bowl Salad” for lunch and it was great. A great mixture of ingredients, fruits and veggies are fresh and tasty. Highly recommended!
Really loved this cafe. Food were delicious and the atmosphere were really great if you enjoy a rather rustic style.
After seeing pics and the menu online, I knew I wanted to get breakfast here.
I got the avocado toast #1, which came with smashed avocado, feta cheese, tomatoes, and basil. It was yummy and everything you want in an avocado toast. I also got a flat white, my first one ever, and it was delicious.
This place gets very busy. There are a couple of hostels nearby and is close to Queen Street, so there’s a lot of foot traffic. Because the place is small, it can be difficult to get a table. If so, you can order for takeaway from their takeaway window.
I love the atmosphere. The warm wood tones, cool art, and good music. I can imagine staying there for awhile, especially on the couch at the back of the place. Plus, service was great.
Their menu has several sandwich options, both for breakfast and lunch. They also have a few pastry options. Definitely check this place out.
As a visitor from Australia…breakfast and coffee here is always a pleasure. Hard to get a seat because it’s so good. Worth a wait if you need a seat. Coffee is heaven. Breakfast divine.
Comfy coffee shop serving good coffee and delicious breakfast. Love it with all the doors and windows open. Not the kind of place that asks "what size would you like your flat white". In other words, this is a legit coffee place!
Neat little Cafe near corner of Queen and Wellesley Streets. Limited seating inside and out, so mostly takeaways. We did manage to get a seat and the decor is really interesting and good vibe. Food menu is limited, mainly All Day Brunch menu. Some pastries in the cabinet to choose from as well. The Iced Americano and Mocha were a little weak in taste, but overall great experience
I was so happy to discover Remedy Coffee Auckland- the BEST Single Origin Coffee I have ever tasted- STRONG Taste- Loved it!
The lovely server (a lovely Korean girl) was so friendly, we had a nice chat about her visiting sunny Brisbane for her working holiday. I highly recommend Remedy Coffee for any holiday makers and locals in Auckland!!
Remedy is by far the best breakfast / brunch location in the Auckland CBD. I have been visiting the area for about a week and have come back three or four times now.
You can't really go wrong with any of the food, but in particular I can highly recommend the grace bagel and the fromage a trois. The coffee is also excellent!
The service is fast and the staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is also awesome, having a cozy but lively aesthetic. A must-visit if you're in the area!
Friendly service and very welcoming. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and matcha lattes. Cozy atmosphere, perfect for Sunday brunch.
Coffee was great, but the atmosphere and vibe of this cafe is really vibrant. Great for a quick coffee stopover before going about your day
Cool place. Great atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food portion
Some good vegan options on the menu. Got the chia pudding and small long black takeaway. Both were excellent. Generous amount of chia!
Cozy place! Got a matcha and a raisin croissant. Both delicious!
