It's a good price for value but clearly not perfect.
The atmosphere is great when you sit at the bar because you can enjoy the view of the grill.
It was good overall. However, the meat was not seasoned enough before the grilling (done after it seems). The pork belly was a bit dry depending on the pieces. The blue cheese empenadas were average at best. The potatoes were great.
Always a delight being in this place. Food is fresh off the fire steaks and chicken served to your liking. Could improve more on their salad dressing and sides but overall a good place for friends and special family dining.
Been there twice, first time was good, meat cooked right. The second time we came back we noticed they had changed the chef, my pork belly came out over cooked and dry.., we did let them know at the end.., hopefully they will work on that as it makes me hesitant about coming back there now. Great atmosphere and service though
Good place to have a dinner or lunch, however the restaurant itself is quite small, so we had to book our birthday dinner way in advance.
The food was good and steaks were cooked properly, for each of the steak you can choose either fries or salad with almonds as a side dish.
I liked empanadas with blue cheese, they were yum.
Unfortunately, no desserts, so if you’re celebrating birthday take this into account.
The wine cart was good too, but our waitress didn’t know how to open a wine bottle, which wasn’t that big of deal, just maybe provide more training to your staff.
Other than that, everything was good 👍🏻
Was Touring in New Zealand and I wanted to visit Ponsonby, at the same time I was also craving for steaks and this restaurant serve the best T bone steak!
The quality of the steak and the seasonings was way superior than the ones I had in Singapore, the quantity was larger and the cost was lower !
On top of that they have the friendliest staff’s, i will definitely return when I visit New Zealand again !
El Sizzling Chorizo is an excellent restaurant among excellent restaurants in Ponsonby. The place is pricy, yes, but you certainly get what you pay for. Service is top tier and so is the food. No regrets. Those are some amazing empanadas.
Came here for a quick lunch, special flank steak at $32 comes with salad and fries as well.
Taste really nice, the grilling is just right, the location is handy and not easy to missed.
Definitely worth coming back and recommended if you like Argentinian style of food.

My fiancee and I really enjoyed it! The steak was delicious and we loved the flat bread that was provided. The chorizo was good but had a more muted flavor than I expected, so I'd get the steak if we were to go again. The atmosphere is fun because it's got an indoor/outdoor set up with a visible chef. Customer service was good. The hours listed on Google were not accurate so you should call to confirm with them if you're going later at night.
Enticed by the delicious aromas and the visual display of the selections of meats, roasting above burning coals, we decided to take a seat and order from the menu.
We weren't disappointed. In fact, we were treated to what we would describe as the most delicious flank steak and pork belly we've ever paid to dine on (and we're from Raglan, where we're spoilt for choice in the eatery department!).
So, go spend your hard earned money here...you won't be disappointed.
A pricey place, but the food is good and the servings can be rather generous. The chef was really accomodating, even changing our order midway through when we saw something others had ordered that looked like a much better deal.
Tasty enough but thought the lamb and beef could have been better. Great value considering just how much meat you get, the parralllada plate in particular was very generous with the pork and lamb. Wine list is limited but quite good, and the bar indoors/covered patio outdoors is perhaps the best spot of the type in this food court.
A wonderful family business. Service was fantastic. Authentic Argentinian experience. Wine was 2019 & was excellent. Food was very tasty, the meat tender & very delicious. My gosh I wish I lived closer to this spot! Amazing food, great vibe. I loved watching the chefs do their magic while I waited for my food.
I had the blue cheese empanadas, the chorizo + the provolone - all so good! My partner had the orejano which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Also I couldn't get enough of the little green dip/sauce that accompanies most dishes.
I'd be really happy bringing my toddler here too with the food options for kids.
Such a great place, I'd highly recommend.
Lovely service and atmosphere. But the short rib not cooked slowly enough. They were good when this was pointed out with another half serve.
My Auckland friend took me here for brunch, we ordered the PARRILLADA to share, the BBQ lamb & pork belly are my favourite meat, Flank Steak was cooked to my desired “medium +” taste, lamb meat was so tender & pork belly skin was so crispy!! Well done Chef 👨🍳

If you’re craving for a meatylicious place to eat I definitely recommend this place. Staff are nice and attentive. Meat is cooked the way you want it plus tasty although a bit pricy. They have some deals until 5pm if im not mistaken.
