I ordered a green goodness with cure salmon and my friend got a dirty cheese burger. The salad was fresh, delicious and a generous portion of avocado which is what I was after, it also had this delicious hummus sauce with it . It tasted healthy and cure salmon was delicious! My friend thoroughly enjoyed her burger and she devoured it with a side of shoe string fries. It looked pretty good from my end haha! The coffee was yummmy!
Very modern, fashionable design. A nice spot for a weekend brunch. Food is good - a little bit overpriced though. Zucchini fries are devine. The green bowl is good too, especially with a side is salmon (which you can only order during breakfast hours, not lunch). Service is helpful and efficient.

Always wanted to try Cali as it looks beautiful from the outside. Good brunch menu, we ordered the big breakfast and also fried eggs on toast. Unlike other big breakfasts I’ve had, its not a big plate of greasy mess and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Service was great, staff were attentive and friendly. I have to say though that the only downside was that prices were a little steep, the big breakfast was $25 and Eggs Bene was also $25 which we didn’t get. I guess location plays a big part in prices. All in all, lovely place with a beautiful deco in a large space. Would love to give their dinner menu a go once their dinner service returns!

Lovely eatery that is worth the hype. Love how open the space is and the simple menu. Drinks are also great. Only wish they had more vegan vegetarian options. Otherwise it is a foolproof option for a catch-up spot when you are in the area.

Been to Cali - All Day Eatery a few times now, staff are always super lovely and it's always pretty busy but somehow always manage to be seated! The food itself is nice as well, as students a bit on the pricer side, but well worth it!

Unfortunately they ran out of kingfish so we gotta stick to the salmon for the 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲. Sadly nothing really wowed me as I can only taste lemon juice, tomato and onion in the dish. Not too sure if they were trying to cover the fishyness from the salmon coz I indeed can taste abit.

Quiet lunchtime, greeted quickly and placed our order - excellent food arrived in about twenty minutes and it was such a treat. Another waiter hovered in the distance and he almost seemed to ignore us for about ten minutes whilst we were trying to place a dessert order. We had simply enjoyed the main so much even though fairly full our curiosity meant going all out for the intriguing dessert choices. Anyway the Manager came to our rescue, took our dessert order and the inattentive young waiter switched mode and was fine and looked after us from then on. Cheesecake was quite good, but the choccy terrine dessert was divine. Left feeling that we wanted to return soon to sample the rest of the menu.

Really enjoy our breakfast last weekend, I got the green goodness as you see beautiful presented everything was fresh and tasty really enjoyed added salmon coz I like it. Bacon benny t had a very nice sauces dont remeber the name red sauce and the hollandaise were on point and goes very well with the dish . Definitely comeback

We got the market fish and eggs bene. Food beautifully plated, good portion and delicious. We also got a smoothie to share and they even served it in two separate glasses which was a nice touch. Nothing to fault! Thoroughly enjoyed dining here.
I have been there twice in the past month with my partner and his family and both times it has been a joy! Both times have been busy but even then we receive our food and drinks within a decent amount of time. Food was delicious and so were the coffees. I've ordered the breakfast bowl vege both times and my partner the smoked beef burger twice because we just love it so much. Will definitely go back again. but can't guarantee we'll order something else~

I’ve been to Cali a few times and I usually get the French toast (which is amazing and worth a try). The reason why I keep coming back to Cali is because of the environment (great decorations and seating is really nice especially if it’s sunny) and the friendly service. However, I decided to expand my choices by ordering the winter pork salad. My brother got the lamb shanks and we both got the provolonera to share.
The winter pork salad was so good, the spinach and apple salad was the perfect combination since the apple added a bit of sweetness to the salad, making it less bland. The pork belly was really fatty and crispy, I absolutely loved it and it’s definitely my cheat day meal. The provolonera is worth a try too! It could actually be a main on its own because it’s so big. They give you lots of sourdough and when you combine it with the cheese and chorizo, it’s a match made in heaven.
Even if Cali didn’t have 1+1 gold, I’ll still come back as it’s probably one of my favourite restaurants in Newmarket!

Whenever I have a full day of eating fatty food, the next day I always try to compensate by eating healthier because my body is a temple 😉😆 Life is all about BALANCE. Grabbed the Sushi bowl ($23) from Cali Eatery. The salmon was super fresh, juicy and had great flavour. The dried marinated tofu was my favourite! I might trigger some people by saying this word but it was ~MOIST~ af 😂 Avocado was fresh 🥑 When I mixed all the ingredients together, the flavours all complimented each other really well! Only downside would be that some of the mixed grains were hard/tough and I wish the egg had a runnier yolk instead of being fully cooked 🍳 I always fool myself into thinking that the portion isn't that big but once I finish it, I don't end up eating anything else for the entire day 😅 I had a gentleman next to me ask what I was ordered and I felt like a health goddess saying "I ordered the ✨sushi bowl✨". Like damn look at me, yes I'm an adult that totally has my life together 😬 The service was super lovely. We're always offered still or sparkling water and they are always filling our cups back up.

We got a seat in the courtyard inside the cafe. It was a nice afternoon, with sunlight shines through those huge floor-to-ceiling windows. It was lovely! The food at Cali is marvellous too, I got the BREAKFAST BOWL VEGE, it's healthy and delicious. I love the rosemary and garlic roasted portobello mushrooms, vine tomato and herb scrambled eggs. All of them are super flavourful, especially the mushrooms, they are super squishy and juicy. But I'm not a fan of the leek salad and the seeded avocado, it was quite hard, not really what I expected. 🤔
Besides, we got some spiced eggplant chips to share.🍆 It’s basically battered eggplants. They are a bit greasy, but cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside & soft inside. With the spicy Cali aioli sauce, even tastier.🤤
Oh, they also serve sparkling water, so that's a bonus.😆

This place looks spacious, tables for 2 or 3 or 4 or a big group are well spread out, quite nice. Food are very fresh and full of flavours in just right amount. I wish egg Benedict or scrambled egg is served for lunch time as well. Some sound absorbing panel may help with the echo noise.

We came here on a Saturday for lunch and were told that we would have to wait around 20 minutes for a table. We took a seat by the entrance and were brought some water and menus while waiting for a table, and swiftly placed our order. We probably only waited for around 10 minutes before we got taken to a table and our food came out promptly after.
They have a very extensive menu, with lots of variety. Their drink menu was also very vast, housing one of the largest selections I've seen for tea. We decided to go for a Lychee, Feijoa & Mint Fresca, Mocha, Pulled Pork Taco, Rueben Sandwich, and Shoestring Fries. I loved my pork taco, it was incredibly succulent and every bite would be bursting with flavours. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his rueben sandwich and has since declared this to be his favourite sandwich. Fries were a great addition to our meal and they tasted fresh and light.
Loved the clean, minimalistic decor and ambience inside, service was quick and efficient. Coming here with Zomato Gold was an additional bonus as we were able to get $22 off our bill.

Came here today as it is on Zomato gold. We ordered the vegetarian burger & seared tuna salad & lychee And feijoa drink with soda?? , however, the waitress accidentally gave us vegetarian tacos so we had to wait an extra 5 mins for the burger... however, to make it up to us they gave us the tacos for free!
The vegetarian burger is probably the highlight. The halloumi pattie is amazing & the massive mushrooms 😍 also, the fries with the chilli sauce was just amazing.
Next, the seared tuna salad was also really good! The tuna was super fresh & the sauce was not too over powering & the whole dish worked really well.
The lychee drink was refreshing & not sweet which was exactly what we were looking for. They also serve sparkling water which is a bonus!!
The vegetarian tacos were actually surprisingly good! - the flavours were quite different to a standard taco which made it quite interesting to eat. Loved the components but wasn’t a big fan of the ginger inside the taco as it didn’t go well with the other components.
The ambience at Cali is quite nice & it’s nice to take photos here. Only negative would be that it’s very loud inside (music is loud so people were talking really loudly which made it difficult to stay for long).
When I walk inside I quite like the ambience, and the service was lovely. The soup of the day was delicious and the toast it came with was crispy and topped with olive oil. The drinks are great as well.

This place is perfect for a weekend brunch gossip session with friends. Great location, very spacious inside, the staff are very attentive and serve delicious food at a reasonable price. Both dishes were so flavoursome! The chicken burger was mouthwatering which was complimented well with a balanced slaw that had a delicious sauce! It was also accompanied with shoestring fries (very crunchy!) The sushi bowl was packed with a bunch of flavours and textures that worked really well together! The grains used were so tasty as well!
Both mains were $23 however, with Zomato gold we only paid $23 together so $11.50 each! What an absolute steal! 🤤

A nice brunch restaurant in Newmarket when you feel like splurging just a little bit! The ambience of the place is perfect for a chill sunny day. I ordered the eggs benedict, which have a sweet tangy sauce with a crunch to it. The french toast, which has one of the fluffiest bread that I’ve ever tasted, perfect for a sweet tooth! The staffs were also very friendly. Overall, even if it felt just a little bit too pricy, I would come back again!

Lovely meal this evening. Came here as it rated highly on Zomato . It was a quiet evening but I get the sense it's busier during the day. It's a limited menu, if you like a lot of choice this might not be the place for you, however everything was appealing and each option I would happily eat. I had the chicken schnitzel which was surprisingly filling. The service was lovely and not overbearing. I'll be back-to-back probably to try the daytime menu.
Cali is a really good cafe to talk and relax. Their presentation is absolutly 5/5. All the dishes are fresh and delicious. They also have kids menu and prepared color pens for kids. Will definitely come back

I had the cali eggs bene which have an asian twist to them by incorporating kimchi. I was hesitant at first but all the flavors blended well together. The bacon is a great choice to go with it.

This is one of the only western eatery/cafes I go to for some reason. The place is REALLY modernly aesthetic and fresh looking. I used to order the ‘Cali seasonal fruit’ all the time but they have since discontinued it. It is moderately priced but not cheap enough for me personally to go more than twice a month. Service is top notch.

Spacious, clean and fit for all occasions, Cali’s was a regular spot for me when I was working with Watercare. The biggest strength for Cali to me is its flexibility. What I mean in regards to flexibility is that, if I wanted to catch up with someone over coffee I’ll recommend Cali, if I wanted to brunch/lunch with someone I’ll recommend Cali and if I wanted to catch someone for a drink I’ll also recommend Cali.
When I have some tasks which I need to complete by myself, I like to go to Cali around 7am, grab a coffee and just go through my work in peace. Its actually a rather surprisingly conducive environment. Finishing my work, I’ll then get a simple egg on toast before going into Watercare. Any place that can whip up an awesome eggs on toast is worth a try. Also the coffee is actually quite nice here.

A well designed restaurant that even suit for a small business party. Because the waitress was prepared and decorated the main hall when we walked into. After that there were a group of people came through and had a wonderful brunch time. However, I have to say that it was not much on their food although that was pretty delicious. By the way, I am really enjoy their coffee.

I had the Koren chicken tacos which were delicious! I really enjoyed the flavour of the chicken and the pineapple went really well with it. I also had a taste of the fish chips which were yum too!

Great service. Loved the sparkling water on arrival and the staff kept an eye on filling our glasses which doesn’t often happen in NZ. I had the Buddha bowl with chicken which was awesome!!! Good portion size and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I also had a side of brocolli which I won’t be getting next time as I felt $10 was a bit steep for that. Overall very impressed. Great coffee as well I will absolutely be back :)

We ordered two quesadillas pumpkins and Serrano ham, they were delicious and very filling! And the simple but very effective presentation had me smiling.
They serve you sparkling water as default, would have been nice to be asked if we had preferred still instead but never mind.
It was a Tuesday morning and wasn’t that busy, still the staff didn’t look super pumped at all. They didn’t ask if we enjoyed our food, if we needed another coffee and all the small things that make you feel welcomed and important when you go somewhere.

Coffee design is unique 👌🏼 and taste good. Very important factor in cafes cause there are others who doesn't know how to brew coffee nor excellence at art latte. Don't be fooled by their basic menu because the taste is beyond ordinary. A good authentic twist to it👏🏼 Price was reasonable too!
Love the aesthetics of this place - the outdoor courtyard especially on a sunny day is perfect! Been here twice and ordered the fish tacos both times - reminds me of the fish tacos at motel mexicola in Bali! Wish there were more places in Auckland that had yum tacos! Everything I've tried here has been really delicious and the portions are enough to fill you up. They make some delicious thick dairy free smoothies. It gets busy during the weekends but the food comes out in a timely manner and the place has a good vibe.

Well set out place in the corner of Nuffield St. Food was okay, quite pricey- $21 for 2 tacos. Didn't really enjoy the fusion taste added to the fish tacos with the 'infused' rice. I've had better tacos at places like Jack Tar. Quite a lot of things missing from the menu as well I think that we didn't know about?
Friendly staff though, okay experience probably try something different there next time.
I got the arancini which was really tasty and the salad that came with it was also nice (had loads of flavour for a leafy salad). The main drawback was the portion size - the arancini was the same price as the quesadilla which my friend ordered, and came with 6-7 arancini + salad versus a full size quesadilla. It was still a very tasty meal so not mad about it lol. I got a coffee as well which took a while but it was tasty so no biggie. I was really impressed with the vege options on the menu as well. :)
Service was good but a bit slow in taking our orders but cooking time was fast and since it was quite busy I’m not faulting it. Nice cafe with lots of light. Would come back but would get something different.

My friend had chicken nachos, which was very good, crispy and well seasoned.

Everything from the food, dining-ware, atmosphere and service is done so well, hence the great rating I’ve given. Their menu has changed from the last time I was here but there is definitely something there for everyone and whatever mood you’re in for.
The dining space here is spacious and relaxing. The high ceilings and pale colour palate add a very tranquil setting.
The food is very nicely presented. Lots of vibrant colours and flavouring.
Service/Ambience: Came on a Saturday for lunch, the place was 3/4 full but still very spacious. It has heaps of light and the arrangement is lovely, plus warm toned decor, plants indoors, and a nice fragrance throughout.
As soon as we stepped through the door we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. Water was filled right away as our waitress was very attentive.
Food: We specifically had tacos in mind so we got fish tacos and korean chicken tacos, plus green smoothies for me and coffee for my friend. I think the korean chicken tacos was excellent. It also went really well with the salad and pickles they included. Not very impressed with the fish tacos because they served it with infused rice. I don’t think they go well together. The green smoothies was too sour and grainy for me.
Price: quite expensive, 19-21$ for 2 tacos.
Overall, would definitely come back to try more dishes. Love to recommend it to anyone.
It was OK, a bit overpriced. Ambience is quite good and interior looks really nice. Ordered chips ($10) and a fish ceviche (around $20). Ceviche was nice and fresh. Chips were very thick and obviously looked and tasted healthier than the greasy fast food kind, but maybe I'm too accustomed to maccas fries - it tasted really bland to me and some were a bit soggy. Mayo wasn't nice either, just tasted salty. They also tend to give you sparkling water so make sure you ask them for plain water if that's what you want.
We got a smoothie and the cranberry juice. Hardly ever see cranberry juice on a menu so this was a pleasant surprise. We also got the chicken Buddha bowl and the Pork Belly.
The dishes are very filling and healthy. It makes you feel like one of those instagrammers who only eat healthy food and exercise all the time.
All the flavours in the Buddha bowl went really well together. I was a bit skeptical of the purple pink sauce but it tasted tangy and delicious.
The pork belly was served on soft bread which is a lovely change from the hard toast. This bread is much easier to cut and melts together with the meat.
The server was also really friendly and the water is sparkling.
Altogether we spent $58.
I was stoked to have found this all day eatery - especially one that does cocktails during breakfast hours! ;) Unfortunately because I had to drive later I couldn't enjoy any. I had the smashed avocado, and I could not believe how generous they were with the amount of avocado and smoked salmon they put on the tortilla! They were very good quality too. It was topped of with a beautifully poached egg.
My husband's French toast was lovely too. I loved how they used brioche bread, which was more buttery and provided a nice crusty texture. The chocolate mousse was smooth and creamy.
Service was super efficient. The place was also very spacious so you don't need to worry about getting seats ;) Could not wait to come back for late night cocktails!

In my opinion, the best Café in NEWMARKET!! The atmosphere and aesthetics of this cafe were awesome. And the food was on point! I had the Pork Belly Sandwich which was absolutely beautiful and my friend had the angus steak burger! Ohh and the Mini PAVLOVA was simply unbeatably!

Wow wow wow.. this is the best cafe we have ever been to from the very first step in we were greeted and served with genuine, great quality of service and all the way throughout the whole meal everyone was super friendly and attentive. Ambiance was great, lots of window, natural lighting and with a good dose of sunshine on a nice sunny day.
Food was absolutely amazing, produce were super fresh and everything on the dish were beautifully done. I can’t emphasise enough how delicious and healthy the meal was, and for that I am going to give my very first five star rating to Cali :)

Been here twice and it's delicious. Small menu but everything they do, they do well. I had the arancini but wanted something proteiny and the waiter was amazing and organized some Serrano ham to go on the plate as well. Super impressed with the flexibility. The coffee was yum too!
One of the best and popular cafes in Newmarket. Located along the strip of Nuffield Street. Sleek, tidy and modern interiors capped with a friendly vibe. Fast service and cozy environment. Quite a good selection of menu. So I tried their Mushroom Pizza and ever so good with pesto and salad on top.....divine! Would definitely come to try other menus!

You know when your water glass get's topped up with sparkling water by default, you're somewhere that likes the finer things in life.
Cali is a big spacious environment, afternoon sun beaming through the large windows, hanging baskets from the ceiling house lush arrangements of vegetation, a big long service bar takes pride to your left as you walk in, FOH staff with tattoos in all the right places walk the floor professionally and patiently. This is a nice outfit.
With the family together for the first time in 8 months and after wandering around the Auckland museum, people were getting hangry. We had to act fast before sibling rivalries were brought back from the dead.
We'd missed the lunch rush thankfully so were able to slide into a large table in the corner. We're a tall family, leg room is of importance, the tables are bolted into place, large thick metal legs on either side made for discomfort and ready to inflict pain on the unwary.
Service was kind, friendly and fluid.
The menu has all the usual suspects you'd expect, no surprises, they're not trying to reinvent the wheel here. From your eggs benny, big breakfast, porridge, shrooms on toast and french toast through to pizzas, tacos, burgers and pastas. Something for everyone it seems.
The Tuna Tacos were fresh, light, zingy and an absolute joy to eat, a perfect sear on the Tuna. Others around the table ordered the Korean Chicken tacos, the Superfood Salad, Soup of the day (Minestrone) and the Eggs Benny with slow cooked ham hock. All food superb and presented beautifully.
These guys know what they're doing, there's an air of confidence to Cali.
This is such a cool cafe. The waitress (blonde girl) was extremely nice and helpful, and patient when we asked questions about the menu. We ended up tipping her as she was so great. I ordered the Korean fried chicken taco and it was delicious and filling. Not to mention you get unlimited free sparkling water.
Very cosy café. Seats are confortable and the staff is warm and welcoming. My Mocha was well made with a good chocolate and coffee balance. I ordered the shrooms for breakfast with a poached egg. Time wise, all arrived pretty fast. The mushrooms were very tasty. My poached egg was a tiny bit over cooked but it did not affect the quality of the dish in anyway. Good place, I'll be back.
Very yummy tasty menu, decently priced for what you get. Comfortable environment to dine at, great service. Food is consistently good. There seems to be korean-influenced fusion going on, which i like because it's different! Kids menu are also awesome to choose from. Great venue!
Large spacious cafe with heaps of lighting thanks to the massive windows which I absolutely love! Great place to grab a munch and get away from the town bustle but still super close so I'm not late for class.

Cali is my new go to place for brunch with friends on the weekend. The actual cafe is beautifully designed with quite a sophisticated touch. Service is very professional which gives quite an up market feel. The freshly made soda's are tasty and I can't wait to try more flavours. I had the fish and chips which was a big portion size and very worth the money. I found the chips to be really watery though, I think they might use the wrong type of potato as they weren't enjoyable. The fish was good though. Can't wait for my next visit but I do think they could extend the menu a little more :)
First meal out since being back from overseas!
We got the Lamb Paparelle, and Superfood Salad.
The Lamb Paparelle was smaller in portions than expected; and more pasta than expected. Pasta also lacked seasoning. The Lamb was average as well; will probably come back to try their other stuff in the future!
The Superfood Salad on the other hand looked amazing! It comes with beef bulgogi and quinoa and salad. The quinoa is BEAUTIFULLY SEASONED! So so good. The beef looked really good too! I think it's a definite if you're going to pay Cali a visit.
Service was seamless, the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The interior is also very spacious, clean and aesthetic.
Can't wait to be back!

Popped into Cali for a late breakfast. We ordered Eggs On Toast (+ house smoked salmon and sausges) & Cali Eggs Benedict (Mushroom).
The poached eggs on the toast were done absolutely amazing, and the smoked salmon tasted just right, not too bland or smoky. The danish rye bread was harder than I expected, making it quite difficult to cut through. Sausages were burnt more than normal, but otherwise still tasted satisfactory.
The Cali Eggs Benedict was satisfying and fulfilling, and was worth the price.
Service is warm and friendly, while the simplistic ambience is perfect for any kind of mornings.

Ambience and interior are so lovely with woody and greenery deco. Good thing about this place is that they open until late for dinner too.
Staff are very attentive and bubbly and there are more than 3-4 hall staff so you can be served promptly.
I ordered gnocchi and fish and chips. Gnocchi is quite pricy for its portion but it is scrumptiously good! I loved how the whole flavour harmonise quite well together.
Fish and chips however was a huge portion yet it's only $19.50. Fried fish was crispy and hand cut fries were so good too. Their tartar sauce was amazing too that I had to ask for more.
Coffee was good too. I had brew over ice and I enjoyed it.
Overall it was a good lunch and I'd definitely like to visit again.

I loved the scenery of this place, it was refreshing and on trend. There was the inside with couch options and an outside area, but made inside so you could enjoy the sun with the huge windows but not be affected by the wind. The menu was large with fascinating, tasty options. There home made sodas were brilliant and full of flavor. The fresh fruit in them ensured a full zing of taste. Their burgers were of good quality and the hand cut fries were perfection. Staff were professional and friendly. Definatley a good New Market lunch and one I would recommend.
Use to come here nearly everyday for works coffee run, they are a bit pricey and I don't actually like to there coffee too much but their food is to die for. Service is great and atmosphere matches the style of Nuffield street
Went here today, service was great and so were the scrambled eggs. The burger was however quite bland and sub par, for an nice eatery it is a shame that they use processed cheese for the burger. I will go back for the scrambled eggs again but definitely would not recommend the burger...
Went here for dinner last night and was so pleased with everything. The service was great! We asked our server for suggestions of what to order and he was quite spot on- the food was delicious! The Korean chicken Tacos are a Must try! Will be going back to try out the lunch menu next time :)
i come here all the time as it is my local and i am never dissapointed! service is always impeccable, i usually get the same sweet breakfast and everytime i'm left happy. It's bubbly atmosphere keeps me coming back as well. Will definitely be back again soon! keep up the good work guys 😊

I have only been here once , and will definitely go again ! I just wont get the granola again it had no taste and didnt have the honey banana like it said on the menu and a very small amount of yogurt. I also got a side of bacon and unfortunately it was so hard and burnt and dry ): i could only eat one piece and i love bacon ! I will go there again and try something else, because i have heard many good things and i love the ambience and the location !

I’ve only been here once – but am keen to drag some friends along to try more of their menu and soak in their beautiful interiors.
The description for the Cali Waffle initially worried me; I wasn’t sure how the olive purée would work with the dish. However, I was glad to be proven wrong when its sharp tartness complemented the sweet maple syrup drizzled across my fluffy waffles. The main came with fried chicken (always a winner) but what I really appreciated was the accompanying salad – which was quite substantial and balanced the meal as a whole.
Service was friendly throughout my experience, but it was hard to get the staff’s attention sometimes because I sat far away at the front bench (away from the main area). This part of the café can also be a bit loud when the coffee machine is doing its thing.
While their lunch menu doesn’t boast a huge range, I’m definitely excited to return for some of their Korean inspired dishes. Cali also offers free fluffies for kids – which is a nice family-friendly touch for this type of eatery.
Gorgeous eatery in the heart of NM. Light filled industrial type decor with lots of handing gardens and large succulents. We visited here for a Sunday brunch. Very very busy. Slight wait on tables but we finally got one in the conservatory area which was nice and cozy. The eggs Benedict and French styled brioche bun was a hit for us!
Where they lost points was the first coffee that was served had lipstick marks on the side of the glass. Not sure if the glass had gone through a sterilizer, so serious issue for me. Second problem was the conservatory. Although it's positioned to catch the morning sun, it's in the alleyway where all the businesses have kept their rubbish skips. So when the staff eventually opened up the big roller windows the wind carried in a stench of rubbish. We noticed a lot of people started to leave because of that. Not very ideal
Food looks good but the taste is a bit average. Maybe it was what I ordered but I didn't get much of an excitement eating here. I had the quesadillas and thought they could have tasted a bit better, slightly bland. Service was great and environment is nice too.

Came here early morning and ordered a flat white (surprised they didn't have cappuccino on their menu), an almond croissant and friend ordered the chai. Friendly staff and good service. The flat white was absolutely beautiful, loved the coffee art as well! Almond croissant tasted a bit stale, however the filling inside made up for it! Good to come in here for coffee dates with friends! Coming back next time for their coffee!
Decided to go to Cali - All Day Eatery for brunch and ordered the Korean Chicken tacos whilst my friend ordered the Fish and Chips. Although it was a little pricey the customer service was amazing and the food came out less than 15 to 20 minutes. The ambience of the eatery was superb and I loved the hustle and bustle of it all. Definitely would come back here again of I had the chance.
Tried this place out today after hearing good things. Was not disappointed. Lovely spacious cafe. Service was excellent. I had the French toast & a caramel smoothie. Both were perfection. I will definitely be back.
Great place and ambience for casual dining or drinks on hustling bustling Nuffield street. This place can accommodate a lot of people. Service was really great, extra points to the waiting staff, extremely efficient and polite. Food and drinks was ok, ravioli and pavlova was good.
Really nice upper range cafe, the decor and layout are really lovely.
We tried the french toast brioche and it was amazing, came with fresh strawberries and cream. Really tasty.
I also had the "red smoothie" which was delicious, although a little expensive at $7.

This place has a really great atmosphere and fabulous cocktails, I often come here in a large group for work drinks, it is definitely our preferred place in Newmarket! The food is pretty good, but they should close a bit later on weekend nights, last time I was there they switched on all the lights and started packing up around us about 10 minutes after bringing us a new bottle of wine haha. Overall though, I would recommend this place
Really enjoyed brunch here on Sunday with my other half; we were on our way back North from the previous night out in the big bad City; we had the best (and very accommodating) service from the team at Cali. The menu has some standout choices and the smoothies, juices, drinks menu seemed never ending... highly recommend the ham hock eggs bene and the jalapeño hollandaise... whilst too buttery for our liking, it was a great idea and had the heat kick! Loved the decor and conservatory area, so sunny and those hanging baskets of plants were awesome! We were glad we rolled in early around half nine, as from ten, the place was packing out. We're not often down this way but we'll certainly be back. I've told my AK based buddies to check you out too Cali... nice work, keep it up!

Visited Cali for the second time last week for lunch on a busy Friday. Walking in it seemed full but they easily found us a table in this modern bustling eatery. We had the chicken and fish tacos which had great flavour combinations. Coffee is also good and excellent friendly service.
Went to Cali after graduation for lunch and some drinks. The food was amazing, I had the chicken burger which has a bit of a kick to it and my mum had the superfoods salad and she would not stop raving about it. Service was good although it did take a while for someone to come take our order. My only complaint is that the wine my mum ordered was very small (see the pic) especially for the price you pay and when compared to other restaurants. Definitely worth a stop in for the food but maybe crap a coffee instead.

Went their for breakfast yesterday with my friend. loves the brightness and space, simple and relaxing environment. We were seated and provided the menus. I chose to have smashed avocado from the menu.
Loved the way it was presented on the white plate,big portion, loved the black beans, bacon was thick and was perfectly cooked, avocado taste just a bit sour for my taste but worked really good with black beans and little dots of goat cheese.
Overall, A++ for the service, environment and food. will surely come back soon :)
I have been there 2 times with friends. Haven't tried their food yet. The coffee for first time was spot on, and the second coffee was burnt. Good vibe and decor. Open till late, it is a good spot for a late meet up.
Use to be Newmarket branch of Macs Brewbar and converted from a dark dingy sports bar/diner to a welcome change bright all day cafe eatery of all sorts. Had young one with me and no way we gonna go to no.1 chook or a American burger place so i took her here as i knew it has a kids menu and only place that does so. Menu varies with all kinds of dishes, i had the soft shell crab which is a crab dat is deep fried into a edible crispy pulp and she had a cherry tomato pizza. Yes very children/family friendly place too and friendly staff and is now my favorite eatery in Nuffield street, also like Macs Brewbar b4 as well, very large open plan seating to where you like to sit too.

I ordered the beef burger and wasn't really expecting much but honestly loved how everything in the burger just worked so well together. Wasn't too expensive and I was super full afterwards so it was really worth it!
My partner got the big breakfast and when it hit the table we were kinda surprised how small it was but he said every component on the plate was so well done and high quality. Although it looks smaller than other Cafes big breakfast this on was super well done :)
The atmosphere was nice, super spacious not cramped into a small space. Well informed wait staff he knew right away about what was gluten free or not
Had a work function at this amazing place, amazing service, there when you need them, drinks refilled before you can even ask, meal checked with lovely manners by a young lady(name Unknown).
Only fault which isn't really the restaurants fault, when ordering a GF burger, gf toast was used as the buns, would be cool if a gf bun could be made.
Otherwise the place can't be faulted. Will defiantly visit again. Thanks Cali!
I love the brightness of this place! It has great decor, beautiful furniture and good service. We were seated and provided menus promptly. Lots to choose from but we decided to share a Korean fried chicken, fish and chips and a "pizza".
The food was well done. The Korean fried chicken was more fusion but tasted good. The "pizza" was a wrap with toppings but tasted really good! Maybe slightly pricy for what it was?
Fish and chips was a good generous portion.
Overall I love how you can come here all day (as the name says) and be served.
Food is here great - we had the big breakie. Its nice to see good quality produce being used, whole vine tomatoes, avos, kale. The hash browns were yum and the pork and Granny Smith sausages were too. The grain toast was really nice bar the crust which was so hard. The side of tomato salsa was nice, although it was kinda random for a breakfast dish? It was tasty tho, but the jalapeño just overpowered your tastebuds afterwards. I really enjoyed this meal - its nice to pay for a good quality meal and get good quality food. the service is ok - i kinda get the feel of young ones running this place though - maybe thats the point? Who knows? The space is so big but it doesn't appear like they have enough tables. Some improvements here maybe?
Absolutely top in class. Food, deserts and drinks Michelin standard. Above all the service and staff experience was next to none. Best I have seen in NZ in my 20 years here.

Meeting a friend in Newmarket, we thought we'd try Cali Eatery. It's a great location on Nuffield Street & the fit out of the space works really well.
Service was great - very friendly & efficient with good knowledge of the menu.
We started by ordering Mojitos & they were beautifully presented! A bit lacking in sugar (as a regular Mojito drinker it wasn't the best I've tried) but very refreshing.
We decided to have a couple of dishes from their small plates, although I have heard great things about the rest of their menu too.
The beef rib was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The flavours & ingredients were tasty, but the meat was under the salad & had the rib bone in it (within each slice) so was incredibly difficult to eat. It may have been better off the bone as this would have been much easier to eat amongst the salad.
The ceviche was an absolute hit & highly recommended if you are a seafood lover. All ingredients worked together well with delicious flavours. The treatment of the fish & prawns was perfect.
Will be back to try more of the menu - I'm sure if other dishes are as good as the ceviche my review score will increase.

This place really hits the nail on the head not only with their food, drink, location and atmosphere of the place but especially with their staff. I have never had a bad thing to say about the service, it's what must keep a lot of people coming back. The guy their who works at the front Connor is a great asset to Cali. 5 stars.
First thoughts were what an aesthetically pleasing place to walk in to! We came for a Sunday brunch, were seated in a nice sunny spot and served promptly. We ordered the herb scramble with mushrooms and the bacon and avo smash, as well as the green and red smoothies. The smoothies came quickly, the red was good but not amazing and the green was quite unpleasant, usually I love green smoothies but there was something off about this one. The food however, was very good! We both left very satisfied and enjoyed our meals, only downside was it took a while to be served.
Will definitely be back to try out more on the menu!

Been here 1 month ago with BF. BF recommended this place as his mum fell in love with their Beef burger so I also wanted to try it out. BF had dinner already but despite of that we ended up ordering beers, Dakgangjung and Beef burger. Beef burger came out with handcut chips and burger was JUICY and DELICIOUS!! it was just right for me but Dakgangjung was big NO NO... it was super hard+chewy and felt like its OVERCOOKED. Dakgangjung supposed to be crispy outside, soft and tender inside covered with super yummy sauce...it was below our expectation it so had to sent it back...Manager was apologetic and made us new Dakgangjung but it was slightly better than previous one but was still too hard to chew...so we decide not to have it.

Really enjoyed my meal at Cali, we were welcomed and seated quickly and the staff took time to go over the menu with us. We were a little concerned how quiet it was but just put that down to being a Monday night. We ordered chicken tacos, soft shell crab and the beef short ribs. Nothing disappointed! The presentation was beautiful and the flavours were great. My only let down would be the atmosphere of the place like I felt like there should have been a more energetic vibe but instead I felt like I could nap on my seat if I wanted. The staff were sitting around at front tables on there phones too which isn't the best look.
Absolute FAVOURITE cafe at the moment. have been in at least half a dozen times in the past couple of months and have loved it every single time. My favourite dishes have definitely been the herb scrambled eggs with toast - only $10.50 which i was extremely impressed with and would have paid a lot more for because they were so good. Also love the bircher muesli which is slightly more pricey and same with the french toast which is absolutely to die for but a tad pricey for the amount they give you. Service is usually great and very quick but sometimes very hard to find a seat, however that might just be the only flaw. Absolutely amazing atmosphere as well as food, a perfect place to go to meet with friends or clients.
You could say I'm a bit of a local in this neck of the woods, been to Cali quite a few times now and have never had a bad experience. The food is perfect, service is outstanding and atmosphere is refined. Consistently so too. You can't ask for much more than that.
I love this place - the service is always spot-on, and the crispy chicken burger is to die for, as is the peanut butter mousse. If you're not up to a glass of wine, they have an impressive range of healthy shakes and fresh fruit sodas (fresca's?), so you can still feel like you're treating yourself, without the hangover. The decor is beautiful, too. An impressive place to take a date or some girlfriends for a girls-night out!
Was enticed to pop in here after seeing the interior - it's so airy and light in this place! It makes the eating experience even better. The staff are quite onto it and very attentive to customer needs. The menu isn't generic at alllll, you have to be open minded to find something on this menu. In saying that, the food was beautiful and mastered the art of fusion 🙏🏻 If you're in Newmarket pop into Cali for lunch and sit back and enjoy the surroundings!
I went here with my friends. We all loved the food. I ordered the fish tacos and my friends ordered the ribs and chicken tacos. It was amazing but a bit pricey since we are just students but overall, we will definitely go back here! The place is also nice. A very IG worthy place.
Went here for lunch witha friend. The place is nice and fresh. I ordered a crispy chicken disj and my friend got black bean taco. We saw these amazing looking smoothies ordered by the next us so decided to get one in chocolate and Red.

Cali is a MUST TRY for anyone who's seeking delicious and reasonably priced food. Located on a corner on Nuffield Street, the interior of this eatery is stunning and is the perfect place for a catch up with friends who's on a tight-ish budget but with high food standards. The best part is that Cali has a changing menu depending on the time of the day; offering breakfast, lunch AND dinner.
Dinner at Cali-
1) Grass fed beef burger served with hand cut fries (9/10)
A perfectly cooked beef patty + combination of cheese , kimchi, lettuce, onion and tomato= one of the best burgers I've had in Auckland. The addition of kimchi surprisingly went well with the burger, and those chips (OMG) to die for!
2)Crispy Dakgangjeong chicken burger (8/10)
For all you lovers of korean fried chicken, this is the perfect choice for you. Although it was an amazing burger, the beef burger had more flavour in my opinion but this was definitely a worthy opponent.
3) Lamb neck ( 10/10!!!)
I could not fault ANYTHING about this dish. 3 pieces of succulent braised lamb neck, pickled prunes, green beans, white quinoa and almond jus. SERIOUSLY a must try for lamb lovers!!
Overall service : Friendly + sparkling water ( bonus!!)
Atmosphere: Nice and quiet; easy to have a conversation.
Parking: lots of parking on the side streets.

I had been longing to come to this place for so long. I kept seeing posts on Instagram displaying all of the amazing food they serve here.
Finally one day my mum and I came here for brunch. The interior décor reminded me so much of The White Rabbit. The bar on the left, a long couch in the middle separating off into tables of two, and the big high tables on the left. It was like déjà vu.
After searching through the Instagram posts I knew exactly what I wanted. IMy mum and I shared the puffed grain granola and grilled fish taco. I also had a cacao smoothie.
The presentation of the puffed grain granola was outstanding. The colours and vibrancy of the fruit was just so pretty. We had a side of almond milk with it too. I ordered it with the agave nectar on the side, because normally I like to add the sweetener myself. But you definitely need the agave nectar and the almond milk with it, otherwise its quite dry and bland. The yoghurt made it moist, but it was just plain yoghurt so you need the agave nectar if you want sweetness to it. I l’ve never had puffed millet, brown rice and amaranth before, but the textures were nice, especially knowing that its healthy. I absolutely looveee mango, but I don’t think it was quite in season when we had it, as it was quite firm and not as sweet.
The grilled fish tacos were nice. I like how they serve you two small ones, rather than one big one. In these tacos there was grilled fish, buttered kimichi, napa slaw, baby cilantro and cali mayo. There was something quite spicy in it, but im not too sure what it was. I think it was either the rice or the cali mayo. I loved the flavor combinations, and if you’re a messy eater, then this will be the dish for you. I’m saying that because there’s no clean way to eat these haha.
My cacao smoothie was really nice too. I can’t remember what was exactly in it though. I think it was something like dates, cacao nibs, banana etc. I loved the fact that it was chocolate flavoured, but guilt free.
Overall I really enjoyed my dining experience here. The waiter that served us was very friendly and efficient. There was a very short waiting time for our food, and the moment we finished eating, our plates were cleared. The value for food is decent, but I didn't find anything particularly special about my meals. Next time I’d like to try their dinner menu
Cali's food was going through the roof!

Recommend dishes:
1. Soft shell crab - Crispy outside，soft inside. Good texture. 100% eatable dish.
2. BBQ Pork rib - A little bit hot by the chilis sauce outside, but the meat was fantastic with excellent texture.
3. Beef Short rib - Korean style cutting and cooking of beef rib. Yummy and juicy.
4. Peanut sauce mousse - Perfect combination of sweet and salty.
Am planning to try all dishes there.
Some of/if not the best service I have had in Auckland. I am a massive coffee fan, I make an effort to scout out places with almond milk as I am lactose intolerant, their almond milk flat whites are always amazing and I can't get enough of their black rice pudding (only $12 and so filling). It is completely different from any other breakfast option I have found in Auckland. Also their chicken tacos and Ceviche are amazing, really flavorful.
The cafe is big and open but has a cool modern vibe, which is nice if you're meeting with friends and the staff are always friendly!!

Friendly staff, tasty food. I had the herb scrambled eggs and black rice pudding (life's too short to pick one meal..). The eggs were cooked well and grainy toast was yum. I loved the coconut lime pannacotta on the black rice pudding! Added some zing. The black rice pudding was nice as it wasn't that sweet so was a good breakfast food. Coffee was good. Had to wait a little bit for my order to be taken but that's more of a reflection on how popular the place is! Have been a few times now, the black beans and goats cheese is delicious also :)
My favvvvvvvvourite eatery in New Market hands down! Came here for breakfast one sunday morning and I was blown away from the moment we walked in! Huge bright and open space w modern but simple decor... absolutely stunning!
Both dishes were beautifully presented!!! I loved my black rice dish, perfectly balanced flavours and decent portion too!! For $12, I was beyond happy.
The big breakfast ($23) was definitely worth the price. The sausages and herbed eggs were standouts!!!

I remember when this space used to be Macs Bar, but now it is has been converted into a bright modern/chic eatery with a tonne of space in Newmarket. I came here yesterday afternoon with some friends and the service was just great! Super friendly, smiley and catering staff.
The menu has all the typical cafe foods- burgers, fish and chips, pastas. Our group ordered the fish and chips, beef burger and the apple crumble with white chocolate cream. I like how the side of fries can come as either hand cut or shoestring, where as many places don't offer a choice. The servings are also very generous. I wouldn't say anything particularly interesting or different about the food here, just good meals, with good portion sizes and therefore good value for money.
Overall, I would come here again casually to enjoy a filling and decent meal.
I have been here so many times! Food and service just the best! I love their house made frescas, super refreshing! Their BBQ pork rib is a must try, perfected cooked and seasoned! Best pork ribs ever!
The atmosphere here is quite good and decoration is very delicate. The food was good, I had a tuna loin pizza, which was quite crispy and rich.

Lovely setting, with nice decor, spacious and light, with great seating areas, and friendly service. The coffee was so so, but food presentation was excellent. Have added a photo of the Brioche French Toast. Servings were generous for the big breakfast also.
Have been here twice now. The dishes we received overall were very good; excellent presentation, and the flavours on the whole were very good. The service is variable, but the servers are very friendly. The first visit we received fast efficient service , and on our recent visit, service was a little slow, with a couple of burnt flavoured coffees - we're guessing it was super busy and hard on service and coffee makers to keep up. On the whole, we love the set up and decor of this cafe - its light and spacious and a really nice setting to have breakfast or lunch.
I popped in here for breakfast... Nice big clean cafe and the staff were friendly.... Good menu. I ordered the eggs on ciabatta with sides of bacon and avacado .... The bacon was yum... It was nice but maybe if served on a bigger plate it would seem bigger/more... Refilling my glass of water is great although I didn't feel like that much sparkling water with breakfast.
I came here for a coffee with a girlfriend on the weekend. It was a beautiful space, light and airy and looks a lot better than its previous fit out as Mac's I think. The staff were friendly, our order was taken quickly and we were given sparkling water that was topped up during our visit. The coffee was slightly strong for my taste but a tiny bit of sugar made it perfect! The cute little brownie was divine. I really liked this place!
I finally got the chance to visit this place and it did not disappoint at all. I got the ribs for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. They were very generous with the portion sizes and everything on the plate was delicious not to mention how beautifully the food was presented :) I will definitely come back here again

One of the newer establishments in Newmarket in the premises that used to be occupied by the Mac's Brewery bar. Went here having heard some good reviews about it and noticing the new interior. The interior is definitely an improvement on the darker version of the bar previously, light with nice cacti and hanging plants around which brighten up the area and make it an inviting environment. The wait staff are also very attentive and eager to help.
We started out with drinks of the kaffir lemonade, one of the more popular drinks according to our waitress and it did deliver with freshness and zingy lime taste which kicked off a good meal
The starters of soft shell crab which was crunchy goodness, seasoned with nice batter along with the fresh accompaniments of radishes, dash of lemon and the aioli gave the dish a good balance of flavour. The California roll was a beautiful dish with the crayfish and crab cleaverly combined and presented well in a contemporary look.
For mains we had the crispy chicken burger and lamb neck. The lamb neck was a plate of rich flavours with excellent combination of the braised lamb neck, quinoa and prune which all worked well on the palate. The burger was excellent with the crispy chicken fillet covered with the gorgeous glaze which could be eaten on its own but coupled with the nicely toasted bun and accompanied by the hand cut fries and aioli made it one of the better burgers I've had in a while.
Deserts were a little disappointing with the ice cream sandwich lacking the amount of ice cream to make it a proper sandwich and the cake a little heavy. Overall the flavours did work well though. The grilled banana was rich and sticky with the coconut ice cream the highlight of the dish but was a melting runny slop when the dish did arrive on the table.
Overall a pleasant dining experience and will return to sample out their breakfast fare
As it used to be Mac's Brew Bar, the new design made it very spacious and bright. I only had wedges, but they are so much bigger than expected that I needed to ask for cutleries later, and the aioli is also very unique.
The best salad I ever had. I was reluctant to order the chicken as I thought it'll be dry but turns out it was very moist and came in a decent amount. Loved the onion dressing and never knew prunes would go really well. A very good touch! Was full afterwards. Also just want to say the service was excellent and attentive. Strangely enough one of our drinks in a nice looking glass split causing the drinks to spill all over. But the staff was quick to clean up the mess and gave us a new one. Would definitely come back for more salad.
The decor and atmosphere is really great about this place. Love the piece done outside by Berst too. Slightly confusing when you walk in though as to seat yourself or wait to be seated. Tuna Pizzette is absolutely delicious and a great size for something to nibble on with a friend. Having been a few times I've had both amazing service and very slow and blunt service (restaurant quiet too), but generally really like this place.
My husband I have been working through the Metro Top 50 Cafes in Auckland and have been enjoying pretty yummy food, but Cali's was a pleasant, scrumptious surprise!!!!

Came here for my cousins birthday breakfast at her request. This was a pleasant surprise in Newmarket. Menu consists of tasty favourites and brunch staples with a Mexican style twist you could say. I had the eggs bene which had the best piece of bacon I've ever had with a pico De gallo style salsa on the side. Very interesting twist and delicious.
Price wise... Pretty standard for newmarket, you'd be paying around $60ish for two with coffees.
First visit to Cali. Service was brilliant. The waiter even helped to create a vegan burger for my friend. Tried the chicken taco and that was delicious. Overall great experience and will recommend to anyone. The coffee was great too.
I was disappointed with the pizetta as I was still hungry afterwards. But the cacao smoothie was really delicious. Other times I have been there I have had the eggs Benedict and the Bellini both were good but not the best eggs bene I've ever had.
Nice café option in Newmarket which has recently opened, and definitely worth a visit.
The food isn’t amazing and didn’t wow me, it was quite standard café food, however they have some interesting and different food options you couldn’t normally find elsewhere. They do a few Korean inspired dishes so I opted for the Korean beef baguette with kimchi, this was pleasant but lacked wow factor.
The poor staff need more training, some had no idea there was a waiting list and various staff asked to take our order and they all appeared confused and un-coordinated with a lack of communication between them.
Despite this, it was still a pleasant dining experience and I’d return again if I’m around the area.

The moment we walked in, staff came to us to greet. We set one table but found better table by the window so we asked if we can move, and they were happy to move us! Server was very attentive and we got food in less than 10 min.

Cali-all day eatery is pretty hard to miss as it is a massive space on Nuffield street! Had heard good things about it so decided to try it for lunch the other day. Originally went in to try the breakfast menu, but that had unfortunately ended by the time we went in!
I got the black bean tacos and my friend got the chicken tacos. The tacos were really delicious, the shells were really soft and delicate though and kept splitting/ crumbling every time I tried to pick them up. Other than that though they were really nice!
Service was a bit awkward at times. I think some of the staff were still in training so seemed a bit timid. The guy behind the counter though was really friendly and enthusiastic!
The food was tasty but I wasn't blown away! Would definitely return to try the breakfast menu though.
Tried Cali for lunch today for the first time. Highly recommended! The decor was fresh and the staff were friendly and inviting. I was impressed with the range of choice on the menu, there was something for everyone. Good alcohol selection too! I had the Korean chicken tacos and couldn't fault them. The pineapple cucumber slaw was heavenly! They serve lucky taco sauces alongside their tacos too which was a nice wee bonus. My sister ordered the fish and chips and raved about her meal too. We had a bit of a wait on the food due to a misunderstanding, however they gave us a discount upon paying which was kind of them, and apologised for the delay. Thanks Cali, I'll definitely be back!
I absolutely adore this place. I have been serval times and love their breakfast menu.
Must try's include: black rice pudding and a chocolate smoothie. Both delicious and most certainly on the healthier side!
I look forward to trying the rest of the menu and spending some evenings here. Best restaurant new restaurant and defiantly something Newmarket was missing.
Quite nice modern furniture and crockery. Enthusiastic staff, was nice to see them all enjoying themselves. The food was pretty nice, you standard modern cafe menu and coffee was quite nice too. The black rice and coconut pudding pictured was pretty delicious!
I love the atmosphere here, the plants make it vibrant, and the graffiti wall right outside reminds me of Melbourne! Definitely my favourite place to go to in New Market. The coffee was great (it's supreme), I really enjoyed my dish, which was the black rice pudding, apparently its cooked with coconut milk and coconut water (you could tell, it was delicious!) the service, was fast, attentive and very welcoming/ friendly, sparkling water is also always a nice touch. I will be back, I am impressed!

In replacement of Mac's Brew Bar is an all new all-day eatery. The novelty has not even worn off on the staff yet who seem to be nervous and still in training. Breakfast menu is good; will probably be back to try the lunch and dinner.
Been back a few times now so now my local. Lunch just as good as the Brunch menu. Food quality, quirkiness, quantity and prices all very good value. Staff electric and bubbly. Highly recommend in many ways.

My new favorite. After reading the reviews from all fellow food lovers decided to try this place.
Couldn't find the exact address on zomato or their website. But understood it's on Nuffield street. It's just right next to Wagamama.
I forgot what this place was called before. Anyways it was half busy on a early Friday evening. The staff was very attentive. Welcomed us and said we can select any table of our choice.
Best part : they serve sparkling water. Yes still water too.
Menu is nice and simple. Nothing too complicated.
For starters chicken taco was just perfect. Very juicy and right portion. Full of flavour too. My choice of crab was great too. I just loved the presentation of the dishes. Mains chicken burger was very different from the usual burgers and satisfying too.
I went for chicken roast for my mains and enjoyed every bit of that. Lentils was a good twist to it. I love Lentils so it was perfect for me.
4 drinks + 2 starters + 2 mains was around $100. Service was top notch. Overall a satisfying meal.

We ordered a pizza, which we thought we would be big enough to share. Our waiter didn't advise us that the pizza are really only entre size and not designed for sharing.
The pizza it self was a tortilla wrap as a base with a few ingredients and lots of salad on top.
Tasted great, just not the usual type.

Cali's is definitely competing for my #1 food place in Newmarket! Newly refurbished, the décor is fresh and chic. There is plenty of seating – try to get a table on the right side of the building as the sun streams in! The service was very friendly and attentive during our weekday lunch visit (keep it up guys!). The complimentary sparkling water was also a nice change!
I ordered the Chicken tacos, and my friends went with the Fish & chips and the Fish taco. Highly recommend the Chicken tacos!! Crispy well seasoned chicken on a soft taco – the pineapple salsa was such a refreshing component to this dish! The Fish &chips was well portioned and the chips were thick and well done. The Fish tacos was the prettiest dish on our table! However my friend said it was unfortunately a little underwhelming. Fortunately Cali's is really close to work so will be back to try more dishes and also for those Chicken tacos!

[UPDATE] Apologies this is not one from the hip group, though decor and type of dining is very similar. It is owned by an independent owner who has another similar eatery in Wellington. Came back today for brunch again. Had the french toast was amazing and soft and fluffy! Portion wise was a little small. My sister had the beef burger, it looked little but was very filling. Though the pattie did lack in a very good handful of seasoning. I got an ice mocha this time and loved it. Perfect balance of coffee and chocolate, though again I think some ice cream would be the cherry on top. My sister got the kiwifruit, lime, and mango soda. Was nice and fresh but could of done with more soda, it was more like a smoothie than soda. Definitely my go to place in new market.
I believe this is another amazing eatery by the Hip Group. The same group that opens Milse, ortolana, takapuna beach cafe, Rosie, and all those other amazing eateries. You can tell by their signature sparkling water they serve and their open plan architecture. The decor is simple, minimalistic, bright, and they love their full length glass windows/doors. In comparison then the other eateries, Cali seems to have a more Asian/korean inspired menu, offering dishes like bulgogi and kimchi.
I got a chicken burger and it was gooooood! Succulent, tender, and bathed in a very lovely spiced sauce sauce. It came with fries and a lovely dipping sauce. Couldn't quite pin point the taste but sort of like aioli with siracha and chipotle (?).
My partner got an eggs Benedict and was equally impressed. Loved how potato cakes were used as the based rather than your usual English muffin. The salsa on the side was great to contast the richness of the hollandaise. But we both agree we would prefer it if the hashcake was thinner and deep fried rather than pan fried.
One of our guests order the fish and chips and was pleasantly surprised to find a very generous dish. You tend to find places trying to make fish and chips too classy. Making the dish tiny and trying to reinvent it. Here you get a nice and decent plate of quality fish and chips.
We also got a green juice smoothie, iced chocolate, iced mocha, and a kaffir lemonade. They were all delish!
Though it is a little bit more dear on the wallet compared to some of the other places in Newmarket. This will definitely be my new go to place to brunch/lunch. I am yet to return to try their dinner menu.
