First time here and it was so delicious :) Thank you! Wonderful service, beautiful atmosphere, clean washrooms, the Thai Iced Tea with milk was so refreshing and the food was incredible! Thank you thank you thank you
MAAIIII THAAII!! great atmosphere, gets mad busy though with some loud groups (we went on a Friday night so it makes sense haha)
They have a decent deal where certain dishes are on special and if you buy those you get drinks for 6 bucks.
Service was standard and food came out pretty soon.
Place was recommended by a mate so we all went. But I think I overhyped it than what it really is. No hate but my dish was alright
But overall i would come here again maybe just for drinks
Was there tonight with my baby girl and 6 other people, we arrived to a well laid out table with really cute baby cutlery as well. The service was top notch and the food was really tasty. Keep up the great work guys.
This lunch meal chicken/basil w egg on rice was amazing delicious! Traditional Thai flavours on point, the egg was cooked perfectly with crispy edges with a semi runny yolk. Can't go wrong by adding a side of fresh thai chilli's in fish sauce for an extra kick. Cute themed ambience. Would definately come again.
Very good service, we asked about a Thai local coffee. They specifically made for us...
Food quality is really Thai favour....
The fish cake and prawn cakes are good.
Higher recommend to try the stream snipper. Normally, we will have mullet in this way of cooking. Never try snipper b4... Although this is the first time to try snipper in this Thai way, it's really tastey.
Probably one of the best restaurants for pad Thai & chicken green curry in the city. Staff are really friendly & attentive. Food is quick. I did have a nice lunch with my friend in this Thai small cosy restaurant :)
I went there Friday's lunch wiz my friends. I liked the interior design of this shop its always clean and beutiful. I could feel luxury.
I ordered traditional Thai meel, Pad Tai which is fried rice noodles, chicken and vegs. It was amazing even thogh their portion is not enough for me. Some Thai restaurant make Pad Tai so sweet with just a few meat and I don like that way, but this Pad Tai was NOT so sweet and with lots of chicken! I loved it.
My friends ordered Green curry which also had many vegetables and chickens.
I'm not so big fan of Green curry but their curry was nice.
But once I went there at dinner, the price was seemed a lil expensive for me . The meal was good n hospitality was okay but was not so special comparing to other cheaper Thai restaurants in my view. So I'm afraid to say that but I don't know if their dinner price is worth it.
I might go there again in lunch time to eat Pad Tai!!
Visited this restaurant last night with a large group. I ordered the yellow curry and it was delicious! My boyfriend got pad thai (chicken and beef) with coconut rice. The coconut rice was amazing and the pad thai was one of the best he has had! Service was average - he was friendly although there was a bit of a language barrier.
Went there for dinner on Saturday. Excellent service, food is great only losing marks on the temperature of the food. The rice need to be hotter. Good value for money and highly recommended. Best Thai restaurant that I have ever visited.
I have eaten at this restaurant for 20 years and it never fails to impress me. The service here is top notch and the food is even better. This restaurant has been consistent for years and the new renovation inside and out looks fantastic. Thanks Mai Thai for giving me years of pleasurable Thai Cuisine dining right here in Auckland. My friends and family love this iconic restaurant. For real Thai Food that keeps you coming back for more look no further and book a table today. I did and it was fabulous.
What an awesome experience! I enjoyed a excellent meal over at Mai Thai, and ended up having a great 20 minute conversation with one of the waiters working at the restaurant, talking about Thai Culture and food, and all things Thai! Amazing service - Can't wait to go again!
Love this place, had a dinner with Fam there great meal great service, can't ask for more, moreover the prices are really reasonable. ;) thumb up for Mai Thai
Came here for a work lunch maybe 3 weeks ago. One of my pet peeves is when an online menu is outdated. They have various lunch specials even advertising a complimentary veg spring roll but thus is not the case. I don't really care about the spring roll but the principal of incorrect information on the website. The website has been updated since.
Anyway, I ordered the Massaman lamb with roti, it was very nice but nothing different to any other massaman lamb I have had.
I did want to try their soft shell crab curry one evening but I see it is no longer on the menu. A shame as that seemed to be their point of difference.
Had deep fried fish with garlic chili, green curry with beef and the seafood tomyum. The fish and green curry were amazing but the tom yum wasnt the best - that's just my opinion.
My friend and I decided to eat here for lunch and we we're not disappointed. The food was so tasty and filling. I liked the curry puffs, chicken satay and spring roll with the carrot sauce for starter and red curry chicken for main. The service is very good.

The first thing that impressed me was the atmosphere here.I'm Thai and I can confirm that this restaurant will give you a familiar atmosphere like in Thailand.
My dish was beautiful and yummy with good quality of food and service I totally recommend this place.
Super delicious thai food.. Before this I had tried thai food only once and that was not so good experience. But food here is amazing, the waiter suggested us that we should try different curries. The waiters and waitresses are really polite. Service is good and the food quantity is more. We had to take away some food..
My first option for thai food in CBD l.
the best sticky rice and mango outside Thailand, sticky rice very soft sweet and yum.
we try their Pad Thai noodle ,we love the taste. They put Chive in Pad Thai which make it really tasty. service is friendly. We love this place,
I have been there for lunch and had a stir fry. Food was good. Reasonable prices. friendly service. The place was not too congested. Will go there again.
Food was really tasty, not greasy. The coconut rice was amazing as was massaman curry. Reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and lovely. Great find from having randomly popped in from off the street.
Dined here the other evening, arriving right at 6pm without a reservation..the waiter was accommodating in terms of no booking but made it clear we had to sit where he put us - even though we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. We ordered curry puffs for starters which was delicious. The mains were a bit of a letdown..the duck noodles I ordered were a bit on the bland side and my friend's Nua Yang Takrai was overpowered by the lemongrass..the sirloin was cooked beautifully though. The star of the show was definitely their desserts..my friend ordered the dolce vita while I had the lemon di sorrento. That lemon cream gelato with the tangy hit of lemon curd was sublime. My friend loved her dolce vita also and stated it was the stand out dish. The service from the waitresses were friendly, warm and attentive...definitely made up for the bad first impression we had of the waiter. I think though that the food was a bit on the pricey side.
Came here for a quick bite and absolutely loved the curry platter. 3 curries and some rice to go along. Great food, great ambience and wonderful staff
We came as a group for a birthday. Cool little fit out and really friendly staff. But food was really over priced for what it was and we have had much better else where. $80 for 2 people which was just 2 mains, one entree and 2 corkage.
So delicious, we had the special that gave us 3 types of curry and the presentation was top notch, so was the flavour. I had the grasshopper cocktail, lots of fun.
My stir fry dish was refreshing, light and tasty without being too salty or filled with MSG. customer service was excellent, atmosphere was relaxing and food arrived on time. I would definetely come back for more.
Talking about authentic. Yeah! This is the one.
We try out their curry night which has three different curries in one serve . The jungle curry is so yummy. Nice spices & very fresh.
Reasonable cost. Staffs are nice & polite.
I went here for a hens night at a private room dinner. food was really yum and huge portion sizes. It was great for a function and really nixe customer service.
Thai food at its best
The manager is welcoming you always with a big smile
He makes great recommendations and is always there to make sure you having a great time
We loved the satay, also really nice mussels in coconut cream sauce
Me and my wife are not big veggie lovers but we gave a try to the massaman veg curry which was awesome
The service is great and the good is more than great
We have been there few times and we can't wait to go back
All time favourite of mine when it comes to Thai food. Great service, good quality and quantity food. First restaurant in mind when I decide to eat Thai food.
We ordered the set menu for two$40 per person, the food average is ok, service is quick and attentive even it was on weekend night. Might come back for the curry next time
The service is the same eveyrtime we go..
The taste of the food is good but my partner always complains about the quantity.
BYO makes it a good spot in city for dinner with mates
My second time at Mai Thai, this time for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Really good and quick service. Was catching up with a friend and we ordered the express lunch.
I ordered the yellow Thai curry. Simply delicious. Moreover we sat there talking for almost an hour after even our lunch was over and the ladies didn't say a word. May be because the it wasn't relatively busy being a weekday, yet.
The first time we had ordered Tom yum soup and the prawn curry.
Loved the food both times. Superb ambience.
Had a group of 25 here for my birthday dinner! Organisation was second to none! Food service was efficient, the portions were a bit small for a Thai restaurant but delicious food! Great for large groups!
Great food. Great service.
My friend spilt curry on herself and the waiter came promptly with soda water and paper towels without having to be asked.
The food is reasonably priced and always comes very fast. Would highly recommend this place!
Went with five good mates. We ordered the set menu per person and what a treat! Entrees, soup, main and dessert and better still it is BYO. We had a great experience, excellent service and we sat up the top which was cosy.
Update: tonight I brought hubby here for dinner so he too could sample the intricate flavours of Thai food so perfectly balanced e.g sweet, sour, bitter, salty and spicy - here at Mai Thai compared to other Thai places we have dined at in the past.
We settled for the $40 pp set menu for two as it consists of popular and commonly known dishes such as Goong Hom Pah, Satay, Tom Yum Goong (great palette teaser before the mains) Massaman and Pad Thai.
Service is attentive, polite and never in your face. Our water glasses topped continously and plates cleared not long after we had devoured each dish.
A lovely evening with hubby dining over intricately balanced aromatic Thai dinner.
It's one of the best Thai restaurant in Auckland. Scrumptious food and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Wonderful Thai food, when you have a craving for Thai food this is the best place to visit quiet reasonable too the best value for money if your ever in town visit this place
Best Thai Ever. Been going here for well over 20 years now and nothing has changed, literally. The satay chicken skewers are still the best - the sauce is amazing.
Have eaten here twice, was great the first time however I ordered the same thing the second time and the recipe had been changed which wasn't great. Lovely staff and ambience nonetheless
We went here on a busy Friday night, service a bit slow and they weren't great at giving us water despite us asking a few times. However the food arrived pretty quickly and was great! I am a Very Hungry Person and found the meals to be well-sized and filling. Great, extensive vegetarian menu. Had some awesome coconut rice on the side of my meal.

They have the best Pad Thai hands down for Vegetarians. I am a fan of going to this place in big groups. Service is always good. A lot of variety. Also reasonable on price. I suggest coming here, the atmosphere is noisy but that is what you will expect in a big restaurant like this.
Went here last weekend on Saturday night and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was great, great service and very traditional good thai food. I ordered a pad thai and chicken satays, both were delicious. I recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting to have a nice evening and enjoy classic Thai dining.
This is one of my go-to Thai places for the past few years. The lunch specials are cheap and taste great (must try the green curry!)
The dinner menu is pricey but good food and cocktails are also delicious. I have been here in big groups as well as in twos - the service is always great. Absolutely love the brick wall decor!
Went here on New Years Eve and they were terribly busy and understaffed. Can hardly hold this against them considering the night. So, of course service was not so good. A table of 6 all ordering beer and spirits only served drinks twice.
For entree we all had mixed platters. For main I had the Larb Sawan -
Minced chicken, beef, pork or duck seasoned with spices, lemon juice and toasted ground rice served with salad.
I had never tried it before and it was delicious. Quite spicy for me since I can't handle spicy food but it was a refreshing type of spice - the lemon juice balanced it nicely and the helping was huge.
Everyone was happy with the food.
Unfortunately we were seated out the back in the ugly conservatory but once again it was because of the night.
We were lucky to get a booking and I'm sure another visit would be an entirely different experience. Lovely food.
I love the decoration, i even took pictures from the ceiling, the food is really good, we had an entree, 2 mains and dessert and everything was delicious, even if you don't know what to order i can assure you everything would be delicious, the uniforms of the people working there make you feel on vacations!
I'll definitively go to Thailand on vacations now!!!
Dined here last night, service was amazing, we ordered cocktails entrees and mains at the same time, within minutes the cocktails were brought out to us and very well designed and tasted amazing, moments later our entrees arrived and they were also amazing. Less than 15Min's later our mains arrived and the chicken meal I ordered was just the best Thai food I have ever had, my partner ordered a lamb and cashew meal from their favourites menu and it even better than my tasty meal. We would have spend less than 1 hour there. Decor is fantastic. Its warm and the service was just amazing, I will definitely go back for meal here!
The best Thai restaurant that I've been to for some time, the food was excellent as was the service. The staff are friendly, knowledgable and efficient. The menu covered everything that I wanted and a lot more, I tried a new dish on each occasion that I went ther, three in all, and each time the food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wife and I went at lunchtime. Was informal, relaxed and not packed at all. The service was of a high standard, the staff polite, friendly and on the ball.
We ordered from the main menu. Food was of an excellent standard: menu indications of hot/mild were spot on.
Starters: Chicken Satays & Prawn cakes. Both were perfectly cooked and presented.
Mains: Beef & Potato curry with rice & Thai Fried noodles. There was as much rice as you wanted to have with several servings of it if you so wish! All was very tasty and the meat perfectly tender.
Deserts: Coconut ice-cream & glutenous rice, Custard cake and vanilla ice-cream. Both deserts excellent - loved the chilled coconut with the warm and slightly salted rice. Perfectly executed dishes and presented well.
Coffee: short black and latte. Both very good. Presentation of short black was exquisite.
Drinks: 1 beer, plenty of chilled water.
Bill: $94. There are $15 & $19 lunch options too.
We'd go back again. It is a bit pricey but it is also a cut above the other eateries in the area.
The one slight gripe was that the interior is beautifully presented but we were put into the less attractive 'lean to' conservatory area at the back. Didn't seem necessary as there were plenty of other tables where we could have been sat. We could have asked to be re-seated but decided not to. Wasn't a major thing but did stop this review from being a 5star one.
Would happily eat there again - it's a place for a special treat rather than just a lunchtime date/meeting with friends.
We have dined several times and as a NZ maori we absolutely loved the food and the great service we received. Thai food is exceptionally tasty and low fat which is a bonus considering NZ food is mostly processed garbage. I have tried to cook Thai food at home but somehow it just doesnt have the same flavors & taste as dining out. Love your restaurant and the outstanding service from your team. Have recommended your restaurant to others who have also dined several times. We recently had a large birthday group there of which we all loved the experience.
Loved the food there. The atmosphere was relaxing and the interior of the restaurant was nice.
Good tasting (and inexpensive) food. Large portion of rice! Friendly staff. You get water free of charge and the waiter will not try to force you into buying something other to drink. Recommended - especially if you plan to go to the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is just 50 meters from the restaurant and you can see parts of it from inside the restaurant.
Been here a few times. Today I tried the express lunch. The platter was really tasty and I enjoyed the spring roll and the chicken satay. Asked to swap out the mains for massaman which was not on the list and they very kindly obliged. The meal deals really represent good value for money. Even the prices off the menu are very reasonable. The food tasted great and the staff are really friendly. I need to come here more often when I am in Auckland. Its a hidden gem.
The food is good but the quantity is less. Used to be excellent. Lunch specials are fine.
Food was delicious, well spiced and reasonably spiced. Staff were also friendly and accommodating to requests. Highly recommended.
Great food. Though a bit dear then other. Have a nice bar to enjoy as well
Don't be fooled by the exterior, the inside is a nice classy Thai restaurant. It's huge! I ordered my typical Pad Thai and I asked for spicy and it was delicious! They don't dumb down the spice level here.
Long time established Thai restaurant. The food was aroi mak. Service was friendly. Would return again
The place was nice. The food we had for dinner was really good, had no complaints. Until it came to dessert. There is about 4-5 things on the list. I tried to order the chocolate dessert and there wasn't any. So we tried to swap to a different one which didn't have enough portions for all four of us. So two of us swapped to the creme brulee. Which was the worst decision ever! It was green and too warm and tasted awful. Not the best way to end the night.
Nice place and food was with flavour. Good service as well. Food seems to be good as we were 15 of us and no one complaint that food is not good. So I think it's a good place to eat for good tasty food. Will try different dish next time for sure.
I've been here for more than 5 occasions and been always impressed with the quality of food. We mostly order Tom Yum Soup and either deep fried or steamed whole fish. Staff are helpful and cheerful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommended and bring friends to this place.
Good authentic Thais restaurant in Auckland CBD. We had a seafood tom yum hot pot & a seafood som tum. Both were really nice & not too hot.
Service was fast (probably because we came in at non-peak hours). Reasonable ambience.
Interestingly, even we had booked online & mentioned that on arrival, it didn't seem that the restaurant staff paid too much attention about that.
We were too full after 2 dishes & therefore didn't try other dishes (A quick glance at the other tables, other dishes looked quite appealing). We'd probably go back & sample them
We been there a few times, usually the food is awesome. This time, not so. Firstly the Tom Kar... well... tasted like something was missing- watery. The chicken in it was like boiled slices of chicken, quite tough and flavorless. Very disappointing Tom Kar that night. I ordered mango & sticky rice. It's great to see that on the menu but the sweet coconut cream on top couldn't have been more than ONE TEASPOON FULL? Come on Mai Thai, you can do better than that, there should be much more cream topping for the sticky rice. That's what makes the dish so delicious, no need to skimp on that, the authentic dish normally comes with about a quarter cup of cream sauce. Please give more cream in a jug or bowl.
