Such a good brekkie spot! Have been here multiple times and haven’t been disappointed. I fail to think of any bacon eggs bene faults which is rare! Eggs bene + halloumi is also great.
So cute presentation and definitely instagrammable 😉
Packed cafe for Sunday brunch. Not a long wait for table. Food was excellent. Coffee bean is strong and juices made fresh. Hidden gem in a semi industrial area. Definitely reccomend
Nice lit Cafe for a good morning coffee and breakfast after smashing the workout next door.
Very lively decor and good service. Keen to try the ice cream next time

Really nice place. Really busy on Saturday afternoon but still managed to get a nice big table and plenty of space for a baby pram etc. Great choices on the menu - we had the chilli scrambled eggs on toast, eggs were cooked well although I did find that it was a little too sweet for my liking with the chiili jam and caramelised onions but great flavours. We also had the Eggs Benedict with bacon which was really good, really nice hollandaise and good size portion. Lastly we got the Big Crave(the big breakfast) which was also lovely and very filling. Overall great place for brunch, nice atmosphere and friendly service. Also plenty of off-street parking.
We have been a couple of times now. Firstly for coffee and cake, then lunch. Coffee and cake were excellent. Lunch was sublime. Great service, friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
Super aesthetic cafe that is perfect for catchups. Check out their little hidden library area! Also one of the few providers of little lato ice cream and lemme tell ya that stuff blew my mind. Give the vegan chocolate a shot or the vegan champagne flavour.
Great food and drinks. A very nice place to enjoy a brunch with friends
Went to Crave and it was super busy, the cafe serves a variety of cabinet food, coffees and brunch options. The portions are quite big and tastes good too.
The salmon eggs Benedict is served on potato hash and comes with an interesting pinky orange sauce and edamame which my friends enjoyed. The beef burger is also really nice with a generous portion of shoe string fries, however the bun was kinda burnt around the edges. The pasta was also pretty good, overall a nice cafe to try.
Took a chance on Crave when I saw it listed as one of Auckland’s best brunches on Urban List. The location is great and lovely open atmosphere. The staff were polite and friendly and seated us straight away. For food we ordered fungi medley and avo on toast and both were absolutely sensational! The only let down for me was the coffee... but I’ll be back to try it again soon!
food is great and the atmosphere is lovely
Really nice food & great atmosphere. The food was nice. I got the eggs, halloumi, hashbrown on toast (not pictured) and the hasbrown would have had to be the best hashbrown i have ever had! Pictured is the NZ King Salmon Bene & the Bacon and Eggs.
Excellent coffee, friendly service, good food.
Great local in Morningside, but super hard to find parking so plan your visit if you’re driving there.
Service was great & the cafe is light & airy.
I ordered the French toast which was delicious with lots of flavours & textures. Coffee was well made
Always such a busy cafe and has such great food, really good coffee too. A large seating area both inside and out, and the service that we received was awesome. Lovely interior design and the King Salmon benediction that i ordered was super delicious too. Overall a great experience, would definitely return to try something new.
Great place around the corner of the main part of Kingsland, great decor, setting, service and great tasting food. Always service with a smile
Delicious food and a buzzing atmosphere. Even though lots of people came in, the staff did not rush us out after our breakfast. They brought us water to the table after we finished our meals so we could continue catching up without a quick dine and dash. Great place for a brunch with friends and would highly recommend it. They had a cute op shop set up outside which was fun perusing in the morning sun. It was a lovely morning 😍
Community restaurant with amazing food and beautiful decor. Went back twice in a week because the food was just too good! Can't go wrong with their salmon benediction!
This cafe is the place where I and my partner went on our first date. Very nice cafe with cool interior decor. Food is also nice and well-presented too. However, it is always packed over the weekend. So be prepared to wait a bit for your table or your food to be ready. It always worths the wait tho :) Love this place. Always wanna come back :)
Anyone that knows me knows I love a good Eggs Benny 🥚🍳 This one is the ‘Benediction’ from Crave in Morningside! The eggs were perfectly runny and served on crispy potato with salmon and drizzled with hollandaise 🤤 They have soooo many items to choose from on their menu- I definitely want to try the Buttermilk French toast next time 🍽 The food did take a while to come out as Crave is always pretty busy but the food makes up for it!
Been searching for good brunch spot lately. Nice decorated cafe with nice food. The only odd thing being the food is getting ready too fast even before the coffee come. But still a must try spot!
We came on a Saturday morning and it was jam packed. Quick service. My benediction was the best bene i've had so far. My partner loved his burger too. Mocha was great but my flatwhite was disappointed.
ended up coming here after having a bad experience next door and honestly made up for it, the service was great and the waiters were quick to take our orders and the food was even quicker to come, all definitely be coming back my iced coffee was great and food so good and filling and worth the price, such a lovely cafe
Love this place, have tried most things on the menu and am a fan of all. Great atmosphere and almost always a friendly dog to pat 😍 Staff are friendly too
I love the setup of the cafe, and the environment/vibe it creates. The food is amazing, the menu is set in a way that it's easy to make a decision on what you want, the coffee is really good. It is busy , but that is expected when the cafe is really good and popular.
NOTE toilets are very clean.
This place is constantly packed at any given time, so be ready for a bit of a wait time if you plan to go on the weekends! Amazing decor and bubbly atmosphere. Food is good, the fungi medley is my go to.
Visited this place twice and both times had the croque madame which is amazing. Love the extra cheesy sauce and prosciutto instead of the traditional bacon.
Popped in for a late hot chocolate, early coffee and midday brunch (mimosa to boot) and have always been greeted with excellent customer service! The food is delicious and the thought of this place being a community initiative is well and truly heart warming. Once watched the staff give a man who looked down on his luck a free coffee with no questions and a smile. awesome work team!
Love this place! It’s a family fave, we usually come in a large group of 4 generations.
It’s super kid friendly and their menu options are fantastic, everything that comes out looks great.
The coffee is delicious also!
They have quite a large seating area, but on the occasion when it’s busy, like anywhere good - you have to wait.
I was recommended for this place for a long time and I finally had the chance to try it! It was a really nice experience. The place is bigger than the pictures, and it have a very cozy and chill atmosphere. The staffs were also very nice and responsive.
For the food, it has your typical brunch options like eggs benedict and sandwiches. What struck to me the most was the “Buttermilk French Toast” it was the fluffiest bread ever! It was sweet, but not too sweet with the sour berries on top and some caramel popcorn.
I would honestly come back here again. It becomes one of my favourite brunch place!
The cafe was fully packed with customers but had a great service from the staff. We did have to wait quite a bit but was worth it. Loved the decorations on my plate. Recommended for a dine out. Does not have allocated car-parking and had competitive car parking spots in the weekend as there were other cafes who offered off road parking.

Great hospitality and great food. People keep coming in it tells you how popular this cafe is. You can enjoy a glass of wine even for lunch. Great selection of wine. Well done.
Lovely place for my every Saturday’s brunch! Two of my favourite dishes are Salmon benediction and smashed avo. Hope your cafe taste is getting better. I put 5 stars for food and service!!!
Very nice place with a nice atmosphere inside and out. Open long hours not like a lot of cafes that close early.
The coffee I had here was great and very nice indeed with caramel slice and chocolate slice that was made just right. I would definitely be coming back here again.
the chipotle creme and chorizo crumb was so yummy -the perfect twist on a classic! seriously one of my top rated eggs benes!! was not disappointed 🤤👌🏼
There are two stairs in this cafe. The down stair is a cafe and upstair is a library. I really like the design of this cafe. I ordered a french toast and a red smoothie. To be honest, the french toast is a bit dry and not sweet. And I ask for the maple syrup since I prefer sweet food. The red smoothie is average.
Tried Crave because of a recommendation and it did not disappoint!
Excellent food, portion sizes, service and the high ceilings paired with its decor making for fantastic atmosphere.
Lunch for 2 totaling $59, including drinks, is a fair price for what you get.
Would go again :)
Popped into crave for lunch with a friend and we were standing around for a bit until we got seated. For drinks I got an orange juice and my friend got the apple juice and they were quite good. To eat we both had the 'smashed avo' and the presentation was quite a lot and a bit loaded on, looked like everything was thrown on so I think they could have made the presentation look better. There is quite a lot of it so you get really full after 1 piece of toast but it tastes really good & I'll probably be back.
This place is a popular spot for locals and workers to get their daily coffee fix. The staff are friendly, attentive and hospitable despite how busy it can get!
The chai latte I ordered strike a nice balance of the spicy chai and sweet cinnamon flavour. The scones are really popular and one of the best cabinet food they offer, and I would like to try a dish from their menu some time.
Crave has the classic “hipster” cafe vibes with a nice indoor and outdoor flow. it also offers a variety of different seating arrangements, whether it’s being outdoors enjoying the morning and afternoon sun, reading a book in the quiet corner at the back, or meeting up for a group or business gathering. This place has something to offer for everyone :)
I love their food. Portion is not huge, but it is so unique and flavorful! Reasonable price! the restaurant has interesting looking as well. I like their vintage looking.

One of our favourite brunch places - always consistent quality in their food. We normally get the eggs bene and big breakfast. The coffee is also good here and their large cups are massive. The gelato stand next door/inside is always a great treat as well.
Came here for breakie before school one day, and was so happy with my french toast, it was quite jam packed, but still didn’t seem crowded and was so satisfied with my drink and meal. Would definitely come back for breakfast again.
The place was packed when we got there, waited for a couple of minutes before we got seated. Even though it was packed the service was amazing. Maybe 10 mins after placing our order it was delivered and the dishes were tasty and delicious! I highly recommend to go there and try it out.
never disappointed by this place. great place to come for brunch.
atmosphere is nice and inviting and staff are always very accommodating.
the eggs Benedict here is my go to
Currently my favourite place to brunch.
They have a great selection on the menu, however I always seem to resort back to the Bacon Benediction, it’s definitely addictive.
Great coffee, great food and great service! Just get in early on the weekends or you could be waiting for a table for a while, especially with winter coming up with limited seating inside.
Highly recommend!
Busy cafe, like the fit out. Had the grilled halloumi which was really good, large portion size and lots going on on the plate. Must come back here and try some other dishes, plenty of choice for a vegetarian.
Great place, great people, great coffee, great food 👌 their eggs bene is tough to beat, but the cabinet food is just as good. Super nice space to be in too. Always looks busy but they seem to shift out food pretty quick still.
This is a place that everyone needs to try, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! Not only is the food awesome and it can claim one of the best eggs Benedict around, but the entire ethos of the place is commendable.
Crave is a charitable cafe, and is owned by a collective in the community. All the profits go towards the community which makes it even better in my books.
I have never had a bad meal here, it is always busy and I have frequently seen queues lined up outside the door and down the street, if that isn't enough of a selling point.... Then the hash browns are definitely worth going for.
The coffee is good, not the best but still delicious. The staff are good and nothing to gripe about there. The atmosphere of the place however, is where this is a winner! It's got an awesome buzz about the place, with a large light filled room featuring quirky art pieces. Not only is it a cafe for a good cause, it even has a collectable/classic toy shop! Featuring the likes of old astroboy figurines and many others.
Great place, nothing bad to say! The food is awesome, especially that eggs Benny 😋, with a meaningful cause. 5/5.
One of the best eggs bene i've actually had. Hollandaise was delish as well as the edition of chorizo crumbs (like seriously chorizo crumbs!? Still buzzing). The star though was the crispy hashbrown 😍 seriously cant recommend the eggs bene. On another note the french toast was pretty good too.
Coffee here is pretty decent
Staff were quite attentive and the layout was great. Would def come back
Really nice atmosphere, a cool little spot that was otherwise under-utilised before Crave popped up. Super busy - bit of a mare finding a park, but don’t let that detract from the delicious food options. There are options for vegetarians and meat eaters, portion sizes are generous to say the least, and the food itself is very delicious. Plus, a great flat white!
This place is awesome! I have had some of my best memories spent here surrounded by their lovely staff, incredible food and delicious coffees would 100% recommend crave and bring anyone I can here
Went there for dinner last night. Everything was awesome. From the lovely helpful staff to the amazing food. We loved the pork ribs, burnt broccoli and the risotto balls.
Probably one of the most buttery eggs benny dishes I’ve ever had. So so so good. Staff were super friendly. Ambience was nice, busy place but not overly noisy, very relaxing vibes. Decor is cool with a nice picture at the counter. Really nice outdoor seating area especially if you have pets or just enjoy the sunshine. Will definitely be coming back again to try other things.
I was delighted that the chef had added a bit of piquancy (I think it was cayenne pepper) to the cheese scone. The coffee was good and strong.
We had our team lunch here, super cool atmosphere! I had the burnt brocolli dish and I've been obsessed with it ever since. Reasonably priced and plentiful options. Lovely and informative staff and food came out relatively fast.
Wow, what a great place! Fantastic food - the burger patty was soooo good. The menu didn’t actually mention fries so we were pleasantly surprised when they came with it. The big Crave breakfast came with some delicious bread. It was busy, but the service was really fast. Super impressive for a Saturday morning!!
Came in for breakfast and the place was busy. Service and welcome very nice and no trouble at all when we want a bigger table( she extended the table and voila!) love the decor and wall art. Highly recommend the whole morningside vibe !
Great brunch / café spot to catch up with people. Came in for brunch on a Saturday as Smint400 had already mentioned parking is abhorrent around this area. Solid service though, we didn’t have to wait too long for our meals even though Crave was absolutely packed.
I personally had the mushrooms on hash, great texture contrasts which kept the meal interesting. If you're mushroom flavor lover then you cant go wrong with the Mushroom on hash.
Staffs are friendly, large space lots of seating, good food, would recommend, good vibe and really busy. Only downside is hard to find parking.
Most amazing crew, such a friendliness and kindness every time you go in. You can tell the staff want to be there to service you. Food has a wide variety and unique flavours, the change in menu provides you with something new and delicious every season. The scene and ambiance of the cafe makes you happy and at peace. Overall wonderful service and food would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
I had lunch here with a friend yesterday. It was a public holiday so very busy. The wait staff were friendly, a little difficult to work out how to order, but one of the staff came to our rescue and gave us a table and a menu. For a busy day the service was good. I had the falafel and my friend the burger. Both very filling servings. I ate half of mine and they happily made the rest takeaway. My friend said the cheeseburger was one of the best he had. Amazing pattie, brioche bun, on point. Coffee was good. Service was good. I’ll be back.
The food at Crave is quite nice with a ambience to match. Tasteful decor and good service by staff. We came on a Saturday morning and the place was quite packed, the only struggle we had really was finding parking, plenty of offstreet parking in the surrounding street however the whole area can get quite busy. Overall a really good Experiance. Would definitely go back to try out more items on their menu.
Yum! The food arrived fast and at good quality even though they’re quite busy. The only thing is that the waiter looked quite confused and delivered coffee to wrong tables for 4 times in just 5 minutes(how??)
Food 9.5/10 Service 6/10 Ambience 8/10
Smashed Avo 9.5/10
Nice and light and everything goes perfectly well with each other! So good omg!
Buttermilk French Toast 8/10
Nothing too special but it was quite a nice combination.
(Side) Crispy Potato Hash 12/10
We just had to order a potato hash as side because it looked so good on the photos and it lived up to our high expectation!! Absolutely the best potato hash I’ve ever had in Auckland! So so crispy yet so soft on the inside, and not oily at all! So good that I cannot believe it!
Green Smoothie 7/10
The only thing I didn’t enjoy. It doesn’t taste fresh enough somehow.
Long Black OK/10
I like this cafe since before it was moved. I love its atmosphere and coffee. Some staff are super kind while some staff aren't. I recommend this cafe to give out numbers when customers order instead of asking where about I am going to seat. This cafe is too spacious to decide where to seat at the first sight and I don't want to be in a rush to choose the seat.
One of my fav cafe! Awesome ambiance, modern, hip and spacious and its kids friendly! The staff are also great and the food are yum decent price and quality portions, can’t complain. Their coffee is also very good. The only thing is that this place gets so busy and sometimes the food takes a while to arrive and parking can be difficult, but other than that it’s a great hang out. Def will be back!
Never disappointed with crave. The service is amazing and they have a variety of choices suited for every type of person! No wonder they’re always busy. Great place to meet with friends, can be hard to find parking but it’s worth the hunting 😂
Hands down the best buttermilk French toast I’ve ever had! 9 times out of 10 I always order a savoury brunch meal but I couldn’t pass up this French toast with Marscapone, lemon curd and meringue so good! Such a pretty plate too! The cafe is so light and airy too! Def will be back for more of this meal!
We are spoilt to live in a city with such food variety, so why not take any opportunity to experience what Auckland has to offer.
Waking up to beautiful December weather it’s time for Sunday brekkie and this time round we are going a little further a field. Having driven past Crave once before I was intrigued in giving it a try and I’m glad we did. The area surrounding the building is semi industrial and the cafe picks up nicely with these elements.
The French gentleman who seated us was friendly and brought us the menus to look over. Started simply with cappuccino and flat white, both good although a little cold.
Wife opted for cabinet food, Ruben, she enjoyed it even though I ate some.
I went for Benedication with bacon. Comes on crispy potato hash which is the highlight of the dish. The combination of crispy and soft potato is something else.
A good Sunday breakfast and one I would be happy to recommend.
Food: 85%
Ambience: 80%

Came here, and loved my French toast. Atmosphere is great, even more amazing once I found out their furniture is all recycled which is pretty cool. My French toast was super tasty and all the condiments went together nicely. Only rating a 4 star as my partner didn’t like his - he just got the big breakfast and said his hash/potato was cold and not fully cooked in the middle, he also was still hungry after and said it didn’t full him up. He said if he came back he wouldn’t get it again
Went here for lunch on the weekend. Place was very busy, cool space, massively high ceiling and recycled furniture. Had the chicken breast with coconut cream, potatoes and beetroot. This was really delicious and well portioned - great value for money by Auckland standards. This entire little precinct in Morningside is pumping. Will be back again...
We had brunch ast saturday and coming back yesterday for dinner. The place is betautiful and decor with high celling, painting. Staff was really friendly. We had scotch fillet mac&cheese bits abd chagrilled chicken breast. I love this dish chicken slice with grilled brocoli. Very tasty. We will introduce this place to our friends.
Great atmosphere, excellent food. Easy to get to and park. Good service, can be quite busy but that's with good reason. Have been there a few times now and intend to go back soon!
Great ambiance! Great good! Good service! Only thing I didn’t like was how we got another tables cutlery tin given to us instead a new set from inside.
My sister recommended this place as it is her go-to coffee place. I think they’re definitely more than just a cool coffee place. The space is beautiful, with high ceilings, an interesting mural and so many cool details to look at. The service was really friendly, our server explained the dishes really well (how it’s best shared) and also quick to ask about dietary requirements. Our group had the venison tartare, burnt broccoli, salmon gravlax, scotch fillet, chargrilled chicken and a few drinks. They all came in timely fashion and all had good flavours. The favourite of the night was the chargrilled chicken and the broccoli with its really nice falafel. I had a magic slice for dessert. I’m definitely keen to come back and see this place in the morning and try their day menu and the rest of the tempting sweets on display.
As a harsh brown lover, I love their egg benedit a lot as they replace toast with harsh brown. It is so delicious that I can't help falling in love to it!
Lovely spot and delicious food. The place was busy when my party of 5 arrived but we were promised a table within 10 minutes and got it. The only negative might have been the time it took the waitress to comeback to our table but outside of that it was fantastic.
Good sized serves, delicious condiments, excellent presentation and tea and coffee delivered hot: all the essential ingredients for a great brekkie or brunch.
Thanks for a yummy start to the day.

The food are to die for! My favourite brunch spot with my partner, but they lost one star because of the service. When I come in to a cafe or restaurant, I want to be acknowledged and welcomed. Somehow it’s been quite a few times that my partner & I have to say hello first, asking for water & menus. which is supposed to be the very first impression........
Such an amazing ambience in this cafe!! Excellent service and great food. Small menu with just 5 or so dishes but each is good sized and made with fresh ingredients. Had the fungi dish which was yum and my friend loved the benediction dish. They have a separate hall on top that you can book for large groups. Will definitely visit again!
We just had coffee here but surely coming back for some food. Lovely place and decor with high ceilings, paintings and massive shelf. Staff was nice to accommodate us just minutes before closing
This place is highly recommended
Quite a unique space in Morningside
Little local competition
Very much community-minded
Excellent vibe
Food is great quality
Some interesting smoothies
Deserves its strong following
this place is damn awesome! I didn’t even know crave existed until I accidentally parked outside! I had the smashed avo and grandma had the French toast, both of which were filling and delicious. It was lunchtime and busy so we had to awkwardly wait around the entrance for a good few minutes but eventually were seated outside with all the sun - I’ll definitely be back!
Came by when it was raining and it was packed. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table. we were seated outside and even though it was raining it didn't get wet. Once we had menus they came by quite often to check if we were ready to order drinks and food. After ordering it didn't take too long for the food to come out. I had the fungi medley with bacon and it was quite nice. The mushrooms were really tasty and the potato hash was more of a gratin. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was also quite nice. i can see why it is busy.
3 vegetarians enter a restaurant and have options! And let’s just say the burnt broccoli was to die for. We had pretty much all the options on the menu that were veg. Except the whole baked cauliflower which I couldn’t convince the hubby on but I saw one passing and it looked grand so I’m going back with a cauli lover soon. Everything we ordered was delicious. Can only fault them in asking for a Diet Coke but being brought back a fancy diet cola natural drink ( yup, we wanted the chemicals), which was opened so we didn’t feel we could send it back. Kid drank it.
The coffee was incredible! Fantastic work from the barista’s. Wonderful staff and delicious food, what an incredible spot for a meal or quick catch up.
Arrived on here on a late Saturday morning and place was buzzing!
Such an awesome quirky/vintage vibe with a seatings up the top level and cool lil shops within the cafe.
We were seated straight away. Staff were attentive and food arrived relatively quickly :)
We both ordered the big breaky and to drink, the Monkey Business smoothie and Ice Chocolate.
The big breaky was yum. Every ingredient on plate were cooked to perfection and portion size was decent too. The pesto sauce was out of this world. So creamy and tangy. Sourdough was fluffy and tasted so fresh!! (compared to other cafes I’ve tasted where they’re mostly dry and stale)
The beverages unfortunately were a let down. Smoothie and ice chocolate were quite bland and not exciting for $8.5 :/
Atmosphere: 5/5
Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
We had the French toast, Fungi medley and the pulled lamb. Every dish was amazing in presentation and flavour. The service was so fast even though they were really busy! Will definitely go back for more yummy food!
I was going to give 3.5 start but there is no such selection so I rate it 4. Food is good and nice presentation. Quite a lot elements on the plate. Taste-wise it is ok but not wow. However I actually planned to leave after I saw the menu as there is not much selections available. And the menu is quite average just like most of the cafes in NZ. You know they are all normal western brunch dishes. I was looking for more variety. If I will go back? Yes and no. If there is no other options around then I will go back. But for me I will prefer something more exciting and unique on the menu.
Beautiful lunch at crave. Many appealing items in he menu. I chose the mushrooms which were delicious. The scrambled eggs looked amazing according to my mum. Plenty of interesting spaces to sit inside and outside when it’s sunny and excellent service. Recommended
I love what Crave stands for as a business. But more so, I love how good they are at what they do - a cafe and community meeting point.
It's not often I find a place that delights me - I've seen a lot. But this is the first place where everything was flawless and delightful.
Their food menu, drinks menu, staff, cafe layout and, WiFi speeds, are beyond anything I've seen. Even their bathrooms are top notch.
I'd love to get a coffee with the people behind this place one day, just to learn and listen, to glean the sense of design, purpose and balance that they possess.
Did I mention how fast their WiFi is, and how clean their bathrooms are?
Love this place! Very spacious and quick and friendly service even though it was super busy. The food looked incredible and tasted very good. I ate the bruschetta with salmon and it was yummy. Gonna be back to try something else soon.
With Sunday morning coitus over and a half assed debate over where we should end up for brunch, I get up ....... the Vodka hangover from last night's Estere gig at Cassette 9 tells me to lie back down .... If I do, I know I won't be getting back up any time soon. My shower this morning needs to do wonders for me.
The decision's been made to sample Crave. We drive. We park, we meander over. It's busy. There's just enough sunlight today to enforce sunglass wearing at all times. There are children in this cafe ..... Children are the kryptonite of hangovers. I cringe, I brace myself and walk in.
It's a circus in here, multiple groups are waiting for tables, kids are running the aisles, Bobo the clown toys are being sold in the retro toy shop inside. What an eclectic mix.
One thing I liked about Crave is they have a superb waiting area decked out with Retro 70's styled furniture. We take a seat in the waiting area, we breathe, we wait patiently for a free table.
We're summoned to our table, we're seated outside. We sit, we wait. After 10 minutes it becomes apparent we're not getting served anytime soon. I flag down a waitress and ask for some service, "oh yes, I'll grab someone for you.....". We wait.
5 min later, no one has come ... I again flag another waitress down, "I'll be with you shortly". We wait.
At last we're seen to, water and menu's from a fatigued yet smiling waitress. We order promptly to ensure no further time is lost. For a kitchen as busy as Crave this morning, the food is done well. Good attention to detail, the kitchen brigade should be proud of what they produce. Something not to be so proud of though is the smoking area for the chefs is in plain view and only a few meters away from the diners sitting outside. They wouldn't have to venture too much further to be out of view.
Would I come back to Crave for the food? Yes.
Do I want to eat my Sunday brunch in a circus? No.
Ordered Eggs on Toast with Coffee. It tasted OK.
Great environment. Lovely decor. Difficult parking. They need to add omelettes on thier menu.
I only had gelato but it was just perfect. I shouldn't eat ice cream but this is just divine. Wide range of flavours, good pricing and friendly service. I just have tried about 6 different flavours and there was never any indication that I was expecting too much. Loved the small retro shop next door plus the couches to sit back on. Definitely going back when I need (well more want) tasty gelato.
Went here for breakfast with a friend today and enjoyed every bit of this place!! The staff were friendly and even though there was a wait, they seated us very quickly within 5mins. The coffee was on point for an almond flat white which is often a rare find. I ordered the bacon Benedition with a side of avo - the hash was amazing, eggs cooked to perfection, and bacon and avo a great complement. I’m not a fan of hollandaise so asked to have it without. I paid $31 for two coffees and breakfast so thought it was very well priced and I was full for hours!
Even better - little Lato next door is a perfect wee end of gelato I had their special Lolly cake - gorgeous!!
Add this to my favourite cafes I will be back again!
Nice place with friendly staff. We went here for brunch. Totally is good, but the smash avo is delicious but less quantity . That will be good if come with one poached egg. I like the egg bene with hash browns.
Came here for lunch on Anzac Day. The place was really really busy but we got seated fast. Our waitress gave us a menu and left us to it.
We ordered the smashed avo and the eggs Benedict with salmon.
The waitress came back within a reasonable time which was impressive considering how busy they were.
The smashed avocado was on gluten free bread, paired with beetroot, tomato and a sauce I forgot the name of. This dish was delicious and everything went perfectly together.
Will be back to try out more dishes.
This localised hidden gem tucked between the bustle of Kingsland and Sandringham is a statement on its own.
You’re immediately struck by the detail and thought put into the exterior and interior of the place.
It’s a restaurant, cafe, museum, library, gallery, meeting room all in one!
We ordered Fungi Aracini and Confit Pork Bao from Tidbits section.
From Sharing section we got Venison Taretare, Buffalo Barrata, Chargrilled Chicken Breast, 300 Scotch Fillet and Garden Salad.
We finished off with gelato from Little Lato.
Everything is beautifully presented!
Favourite was the Scotch Fillet; tender chunks that melts in the mouth. Taretare was very nice too! Garden Salad was strong and fresh.
Service was exceptional too! We were set back by $144 and were absolutely stuffed

Yum yum and yum... Omnomnom... We cross passed this place and saw it busy, promised ourself to come here next weekend... The next weekend finally arrived after few months and we are absolutely stunned... Tasty food, brilliant coffee ...
Had a business meeting there this morning. And wow what a great cafe!! There are meeting rooms upstairs which is great.
Nice service and delicious food - super reasonable pricing as well.
Everyone enjoyed their coffee and breakfast!
I will be coming back in my private time also!!
Regularly go here for a coffee on my day off. Coffee is awesome here, also had the eggs on toast which comes with quinoa, dukkah and tomato squash, all goes together so well and you get a good portion size and for $11 is great value for money. Great atmosphere, but always very busy. Only thing that lets it down is the staff, can be rude and unattentive
Crave is an amazing place to work and have coffee. For the first time I come in for breakfast and order a simple eggs on toast. Wow. I mean the effort and artistry put in to such a simple dish blew me away. I was going to put up a photo but I'd rather let people see for themselves. Every dish is made to perfection. Coffees? Second to none. Whether you enjoy a filter or a flat white, its made with love. The staff are really friendly, not creepy friendly but the type that make you want to come back.
I have been coming to Crave for years. The people are awesome and they have an inspiring ethos. The most recent menu has more scrumptious food than ever!!!! I love crave cafe ❤️
Very nice place to spend some relaxing time if you are around Morningside area. Big space for everyone, you can choose to sit inside or outside. Ordered kombutcha as drink and salmon as meals. Also had wedges as side. Overall very nice. Their services also nice. Had my wallet left behind once, only realised I missed my wallet the day after, but they had taken care my wallet nicely. Got my wallet back without any problems. Thanks!
After having a bad experience with another cafe me and a friend came here for brunch. This is the third rime.comming here.
THE ENVIRONMENT (4.5/5)
The atmosphere is very modern and the open spaces has a really good indoor outdoor flow. Ideal place to catch up with friends or family. The .5 is only because it can be really full from time to time.
THE SERVICE (5/5)
The service here has been consistently on point here. You can tell the staff take pride of the cafe and once you read their story on their menu you'll understand why.
THE FOOD (5/5)
Eggs benidict (5/5) - Great sauce, good salmon and the hash has a nice crunch to it!
The Fungi (4.5/5) - Loved this dish, reminds me a little of the hunter from leof. Could do with a little spice to give it that extra kick. Maybe even chorizo.
Iced Mocha (5/5) - Def in my top 5 iced cofees I've had. You can get a good taste if the choclatr in it.
WORTH IT?
The 2nd time we went was because we had entertainment book and got a 2 for 1 deal. It was that worth it that we came again... and will continue too!! Drf worth it.
This is a cafe for the trendy foodie. The masterchef visual delights translate into delicious flavours and textures for your mouth. I love the baked brioche french toast and their eggs benedict with avocado. The charcoal latte is also a winner. This is a hugely popular cafe so its almost always busy. I really like that they are community oriented, throwing street parties and fundraising to help those in need. Very cool. There are also some winning toys and books for kids to enjoy.
Such an awesome place for brunch 💓💓 my friend and I came on a Saturday and still managed to get a table quite fast even though the place is packed 😌😌 i got a green smoothie and scrambled egg with salmon while my friend had avocado toast. The dishes were nicely presented and tasted fresh and delicious. My smoothie was so yum, and i love the pineapple taste in it. It took us a while to get attention from a wait staff but once we did, our lunch arrived pretty quick. On my way out i picked up this super cute orange cupcake. It was so good. Highly recommended Crave and will be back very soon.
Crave!! Have you been there? Where do I start with this amazing place? It's a community focused cafe that have great food, provide a sense of community, free Wi-Fi, extremely comfortable atmosphere, and co-working spaces. Yes, the ever popular co-working spaces.
Next to Crave is a cute little TOY STORE! All those vintage toys from way back - and the memories.
This cafe is off New North Road and is constantly busy, with business people having their meetings there, people who just finished their gym sessions next door, and families with their dogs sitting outside the cafe. More importantly, it is a cafe that specialized in people. A very casual lounge type sitting at the back. Did I tell you about the co-working space and the meeting room upstairs? Who doesn't need to work in a place with food constantly brought up to them?
The food is of course equally amazing. Nothing beats a pastry or a egg benedicts. It has now become one of my favourite place for meetings and a place to blog.
This cafe has a fantastic environment - it is large enough to have a variety of table sizes, the outdoor area is sunny yet sheltered and there is a 'library' space upstairs for those seeking more peace and quiet. I had a hot chocolate, which was the perfect size, and a delicious banana loaf. I appreciated the variety in the cabinet food offerings.
This cafe has a wonderful 'library' upstairs that is great for students or remote work. The cafe ooozes good all round, buy a suspended coffee and pay it forward to someone in need. Decor is retro heaven. Ultra busy on weekends. I'm hooked on the good in the hood! :)

Its been a wee while since I have managed to devour the populating Auckland food scene. Looking through my list of bookmarked eateries, Sunday called for brunch. Removing myself from the usual spots in the city we tried Crave in Morningside. Monkey Business Smoothie. Situated in a pretty quiet spot, the site itself was light and airy with tall ceilings and is a lot larger than the pictures presented. Extremely busy upon arriving, we added our names to the list, and as accurately estimated by the host the wait was only around 15mins for a table.
This place has gone from strength to strength imo. The service and quality of food has never wavered and the location suits us perfectly. Great vibe and the staff are always more than happy to accomodate our every need.
Really liked this place! Was very busy when we went so there was a bit of a wait on food but it was definitely worth it. Amazing food and vibe :)
Easy parking, fantastic feel to the cafe! Amazing decor, my breakfast was quick and presented well. The look of the selection of fresh cabinet food will defiantly hasten my return here.
I love this place. There's something for everyone 👌🏽 toys for the kids and good coffee for Mama.
Eggs bene is good, sits on a good hash, so yummy!
The brownie is delicious, it's a gooey brownie but so perfect.
I absolutely love the green smoothie, it's so so delicious and refreshing! Exactly what I needed to pick me up for the day.
The decor is amazing, the staff are friendly & attentive. The food is delicious, decent portions and combinations of flavours. It's also kids friendly, there's a play area for children and the toilets have a changing table. Absolutely recommend the the eggs bene. It doesn't come with bread.
AMAZING!!!! Seriously. Can't say enough great things about this spot. The food is the best breakfast food around, hands down. First time today and I'm beyond impressed. Not sure how you go anywhere else after coming here. Place is so clean, quick attentive service and for a super reasonable price. Did I mention the food was AMAZING???!!!?! Crave is doin' it RIGHT!!! Great job guys. Others should take notes from you guys!! Thank you!!
All you mamas and papas with young kids who need less stairs and more private corners and kid friendly menus, here is a place for you. All you freelancers who have the freedom to work anywhere where there's good coffee and lots of plugs and free wifi, here is a place for you. For everyone else, this place is still for you because Crave is almost everything.
Went here once last week, pretty crowded during that time but the waitress still managed to gave us a good customer service. The atmosphere was lovely and so as the food it was healthy and delicious
There are some people on here with negative reviews I personally think that they are just haters and tall Poppy's trying to cut the cafe down, A famous singer once said in a song " the haters gonna hate, hate but I'm gonna shake, shake, shake never miss a beat"
The counter food here is so good the coffee is excellent and they home brew there on cider which I must say is much better than leading brands in supermarkets. 5 plus stars for me, I will be coming back, in fact I do it is a good place to chill and have coffee and a treat boom!
Popped n over the weekend. Bit too big for my liking but still the service was good and food arrived quick enough. Seemed very popular with the locals so obviously dying a good job.
I really enjoy going to this unusual local Cafe. Always go there with my friends for coffee and lunch and it's never a disappointment! Staff are usually very helpful and friendly, food is well presented and tasty and coffees are great quality as well! Never been there at night time but would certainly recommend for breakfast/lunch
A great atmosphere and excellent food. Also a good spot for pre-game food and drinks. I'd recommend the pulled-pork bao, fungi arancini and beetroot salad.
Great food and prime location, the place is massive and they're really packed on the weekends, the portions are generous but it is a Lil on the expensive side by great to try, we had the entertainment voucher so good deal, service is great
Wow, what a great space! First impressions were good… an odd location but they have done wonders with the building. A friend and I went here for lunch on Saturday and it was packed! We were surprised to get a table straight away. Warned food may take half an hour to be served, we weren’t in a rush so were happy to get a heads up. The service was good considering how busy they were. For drinks we ordered an iced chocolate and a Spicy chai latte. Both were good and the iced chocolate had just the right amount of sweetness to it.
Struggling to decided what to order, we opted for the Avocado Benediction and the Don’t be an egg – cottled. The bene was well presented and the crispy dauphinoise potatoes were a hit! My friend enjoyed her Cottled, especially with the side of avo to balance it out. Both their breakfast and lunch menu had some good interesting options but their dinner menu is where it’s at according to my friend who’s a crave regular.
With great food, service and vibes, Crave is definitely the place to be in this area. Not ideal for those in a hurry, so make sure you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Looking forward to dining in for dinner soon.
Lovely lunch here today. Such a fantastic local cafe, definitely one of the best in our area.
I had the fungi, and it was all cooked wonderfully and I loved loved loved the kumura cakes. Soo yummy!
Also I would really recommend the beetlejuice juice, so good.
The pulled pork and the beef stroganoff (the current special brought back by popular demand) were thoroughly enjoyed too.
The only off thing I'd say would be that the meals took a while to come to the table. But I can look past that knowing it's a busy busy restaurant that serves lovely food.
There's always a wonderful community feel when you come here. Crave just nails the friendly environment + good food equation
Came here about 11 on a rainy Saturday morning. Was impressed it was busy but we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table. Good ambience, old warehouse style of interiors and very open and well styled.
I ordered the 'Fungi' with a side of bacon and an egg which was super yummy. The kumera pattie that came with it was a nice change from having bread. I also got a sweet chai latte which was nice but was only just warm, definitely could have been warmer especially on a cold day. My mum got a 'monkey business' smoothie which was nice. Overall a good experience for Saturday morning brunch and would come back here.
Love everything about Crave! The dećor, cutlery, glasses/cups & the vibes! The eggs benedict with salmon is a must try & love the crispy hash browns 😋
Splendid yet again. This place is bustling and never disappoints. Thank you Crave for another great breakfast. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Filling in space now. . .
Love this busy cafe with their friendly service, good coffee and great food!
It has a lovely outdoor area so my friend could bring her puppy. Definitely dog friendly!
I ordered the mushrooms and it was just the perfect amount of creaminess paired with a pumpkin mash... Delicious! My friend had a steak with potato and looked good! She swears by it!
Also highly recommend the green machine smoothie! So tasty I drank it all too quick (Burp).
I also see they have an upstairs where you can read books and have a drink!
Trying too hard? Maybe- but I like it. The bathrooms are glorious, the decor is very on-trend, it is spacious with high ceilings, there are couches and very good coffee. The service is friendly(even when you are not- I've been flustered and not my best before) and the food presentation is so lovely, with little edible flowers even. The prices are pretty good actually, and parking might not b obvious, but is actually abundant too. So, bad things? It is so close to full marks, but their cabinet food, especially their scones are out-classed by the extremely high levels of others around- small, dry and flavorless by comparison sorry. Don't worry- the menu food is amazing.
I was craving a Crave brunch this Sunday ( ba-dum tshh) . My go to is normally the porridge because I'm a bit oat mad, but decided to mix things up that morning. Be a little wild. I ordered the chia pudding. It was delicious. Creamy and filling. I had it with coconut yogurt as asked for it to be vegan. The coffee was strong and the service was friendly and fast. lovely people with huge room.we always share the library on the second floor.it is great cafe with neighbor friendly!
Food is quite nice and fresh!
Crave is an amazing venue. The set up is extraordinary; with decor like their huge mural of Mary, an airplane turbine fan, a driftwood chandelier, plenty of plants and old relics, this place is truly one of a kind. The interior is welcoming and vibrant, with several areas to choose from - the library upstairs for students or workers, the dimly lit booths for large groups, the sunny deck, the beautiful festoon-adorned atrium, the comfy stage littered with vintage sofas and furniture, and the hive upstairs which is perfect for events or business meetings. This place caters for everyone and the quality of the food and coffee is magnificent.
I particularly love the fungi from the menu with potato cakes instead of Kumara cakes. Everything here is of a constantly high standard and the staff are a lovely bunch of people. Thanks Crave for everything you do!
Love the new venue- also liked the old one. Still packed at peak times but nice to have an outside space in the sun - this was missing at the old spot. The artwork is awesome. Coffee and food lovely. Toilets are great. Looking forward to trying the evening menu and AWESOME to have a local cafe that's actually open of an evening.
Our first time here for coffee and brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Didn't quite know what to expect going in but we were pleasantly surprised with the decor and how airy the place was. Lots of interesting seating areas. The coffees were perfect. I do not recommend the bircher muesli with activated seeds and greentea poached pear - tasted as healthy as it sounds... Sigh. But the baked brioch and the fungi were to die for. Lovely staff. We're definitely coming back!
Been wanting to come in here... it was very busy for a late breakfast but the staff were friendly and we had the time to wait for a table so we did. Didn't take that long to get seated as it's a big place & people are coming and going.... interesting menu... ordered "Don't be an egg-poached" with avo and Heirloom tomatoes.... we were warned that the food will take awhile...it was a very nice breakfast my only complaint would be to toast the ciabatta more... and cover the food on top of the cabinet as flies were over it.
I love everything about this place. The food and coffee are both excellent. I love the fact this place is a collective. The street parties are great!
I love the vibe of the place. Really tucked in the middle of an industrial area, Crave is a real diamond in the rough. As the slogan States, 'doing some good in the hood', they do good and are good!
I'm not sure what the negative reviewers are talking about! We've been a couple of times and there are definitely still some teething issues (an order forgotten, meals not coming together etc) totally understandable for somewhere that has just re-opened. Looking forward to enjoying a beer on the new deck over summer! Love your work guys 😋
Crave has moved across the road from their old location into a great looking new building. Very cool, huge spaces & a large deck for those warmer days to come. Also a Toy Room for the rug rats, yeh. It was very busy on Sunday but we found our server to be excellent - very friendly, accommodating & speedy considering the crowd & the new menu/kitchen etc.
The menu has only about half the offerings of the old but a note on the bottom explains that this is temporary until they get their feet in the new space. A good idea rather than struggling at the early stages with the inevitable complaints.
We had a standard brekkie of poached eggs, bacon on toast which was served with dukkah & a generous serving of well flavoured bacon. No complaints whatsoever from us! Great coffee also.
Only one problem, the small tables coupled with extra large plates! Literally no room on the table for coffees or the teapot we ordered. Water glasses had to be put on the floor & saucers removed from the cups & even then two plates didn't fit across the table without hanging off by about 25%! An accident waiting to happen- the plates are huge so the no brainer here would have to be smaller dishes, please!
Will definitely be back to see new full
Menu when it's up & running.
Absolutely excellent experience, delicious food. And to top it all off, you can feel great about your choice dining here, supporting the local community. Highly recommend the winter greens bowl, the lemon, ginger, honey hot drink, and the cauliflower pancake!
We had a trip in Auckland and had brunch here twice in a row. Lovely food and atmosphere. Will definitely come back.
It was a bit hard to find a car park on the street but this wasn’t a big problem.
I was excited to try here before coming here. Cause I heard this is one of famous cafe in Auckland. Even Jacinda Ardern likes to come here. But a bit disappointed of food.
I had chicken medely and crave full. Chicken cooked properly and big portion and well seasoned but I wish there is more different flavor on chicken like not only salt and pepper.
Crave full: flavor is generally okay. As you can see the photo of bacon, it looked like it didn't cook one side properly. And I'm surprised they don't give butter even though toast included. And it looked like Sourdough toast on the pan. But no flavor like (olive oil or butter) it was just chewy Sourdough.
Maybe if I didn't expect too much , i might think it's okay place. Not that picky. Smoothie is delicious. Atmosphere and interior is great.
This spot is nice for a Sunday morning breakfast/brunch. The atmosphere is industrial/arty. The service is fast and polite. Food was nice and simple. It is a no fuss spot.
One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had ! Smashed avacado with roasted broccoli and pecans - divine ! Coffee was great .Waiting time 15-20 mins on a Sunday but to be expected.Staff are still friendly.
The atmosphere is Arty. Good Coffee and I love the Avo Toast the bread was a bit soppy.
Very delicious high quality cabinet food. Good coffee in a nice setting.
Food was delicious. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. Smokey aioli was great. Despite forgetting our drinks, it was easily remedied by one of the hosts, who was really nice and dealt with the situation professionally and kindly. Unique decor. Just a heads up that it's kinda tricky finding a parking spot if you want to dine in.
If you are looking to hire a private space to work for a small group of people then this is the place to go. Fabulous rooms to hire up to 15 or so people. The service is amazing - they bring your orders up to the room. Food and Coffee are amazing. Big shout out to their scones - delicious.
Brought my father and kids here after Art in the Park as I was recommended it by another local and they did not disappoint. Fantastic service from the start, the friendliest servers, patient too as they were so busy, happy to make recommendations and let us take our time with the amazing menu selection and stalking the food as it came out to other tables. The plating was beautiful, portions generous and flavour combos very well considered. Loved it and the quirky decor, very understandable why the place was packed. Will definitely be back.
My favorite coffee shop. Love the way they treated their customers. I have been coming here regularly since 2018. The tables next to the sliding doors are designed like small old styled sewing machines. Love their small corner with toys collection.
Awesome Café in Morningside, friendly Staff, good food, commitment to the local community aswell. Reasonable prices with tasty food in an nice Atmosphere. Plenty of inside and outside space. They also have some Gluten-free options on the Menu
