Good place to have quick meal and sample their craft beer
A craft beer place tucked here in the Wynyard 1/4 where i came in for a snack call half tun prawns wrapped in bacon i tink (see pic below) and a soda drink, the food menu mainly based on half tun snacks or full tun mains dishes of mainly grilled sea food dishes, I'm non alcoholic so cannot comment on the craft beers, i believe alot to choose from eh, sorry fans..
Great accommodating staff member took time to find the right craft beer for us. Sunday night 8pm dinner when everything else on Wynyard court was not open for real food, they cooked my family of 4 a great meal. Food was tasty and fresh. Beer cold and interesting, thanks team for having your full menu available when you say you will. We will be back.
The beer taps change here so quickly that you could never get bored. Love my crafts and this is the holy grail for any craft lover. And 8 paddle with some jalepeno poppers (or 3) is a recipe for a great night.
Good little place to catch up friends for a beer, was busy the night we were there and couldn't get a seat. Lots of beers on tap and service was speedy, good summertime spot.
I went here with a friend for dinner last night, the restaurant bar has a really cool warm vibe with plenty of seating for everyone.
My goodness the service from on waitress in particular was so bad! We asked her at the bar if it was table service or do we ordered at the bar and she told us to sit down. When she comes over she goes what do you want? No niceties nothing at all. So rude! I didn't catch her name but she was the only blonde working that night. Everyone else was really nice!
The food was amazing!! I had the lamb and my friend had the kiwi burger. Everything was super tasty, all components were cooked well and were delicious together.
Would definitely come back again if the blonde girl wasn't working, don't need to have bad service when there are plenty of other places to choose from.
This is definitely my kinda place to chill, doesn't seem to get as crowded as the surrounding tenants & that's just how I like it. Rustic wooded decor & steampunk lighting - I've got a soft spot for rhythm & blues / soul & that's exactly what they had going in the background. I ordered the ribs & hot wings, those ribs are really impressive, the marinade is a combination of sweet, tangy & spicy the meat was so tender and literally falling off the bone by the time the waiter brought it over to our table. The wings I think were marinated in the same sauce as the ribs - cooked to perfection. Portion wise they give you quite a decent amount of food & I was actually taken aback comparing the price to portion size - great value for money! Awesome place to down a few beers & demolish some good pub food. I think I'll be back this weekend ;)
16 Tun is one of Auckland’s best craft beer bars, with up to 100 different beers on offer at any given time across its 19 taps and fridges. 16 Tun prides itself on being a ‘Free House’, which means that there aren’t any tap contracts here and the venue is able to put on whatever beers it wants.
Great set-up and equally good location. Fantastic selection of craft beers with simple but tasty food choices. To try the beer selection take the 4/6/8 pot tasting tray.
Had been here before , but only for a drink or snack . This time I came to kill time while the other half attended some cocktail do up the road. So, yes, sadly I ate solo. I like the atmosphere here, love the decor, tables and have found the staff always friendly. Sometimes giving advice about the tap beers which is good seeing as there is many to choose from. On this occasion due to it being restaurant month I chose the special they had going.... $40 for the crispy calamari( Cajun spiced fried until crisp and served with homemade lemon mayonnaise ) and the fancy fish & chips ( fish dipped in their own special craft beer batter and lightly fried). And all washed down with the 2.5 Zeffer Cider on tap. The cider is a new one to me , somehow a unique taste that I've never tasted with a cider before, but still went down well . As for the calamari.. ..perfect and very nice mayonnaise. The fish and chips impressed me more, especially seeing as I had read reviews which criticised the fish.....not so with mine. The fish must have been fried just right as it was quite tasty with the batter being cooked right so it was nice and crispy. The fries weren't exactly chunky fries. More thin. That was the biggest complaint I had...So, anyway will definitely be back sometime and recommend to anyone to try for themselves. And good luck selecting from the tap beers......so many to choose from!!!.
Been here a couple of times. Love thier tap beer samplers - should be always exciting and interesting.
Ribs is the bomb and its a pretty hefty serving.

This place is great if you want a chill place to try some great beer with friends. The ambiance is tailored to make it the ideal spot to relax, unwind and be social - dimmed lights and music just loud enough to set the vibe, while still making it easy to hold a conversation. A huge selection of beer, a growing wine selection and some pretty tasty bar food! We dare you not to be relaxed here! Pro Tip: finish the night with one of their whiskeys!

Great place to relax with a modern vibe. AAmazing selection of beers and ciders with knowledgable staff who know their beers. Good food selection for numerous different tastes and tasty food.
Only aspect that was of concern was it took a while to be served, but when served staff were fantastic
The large table inside the place is really good for large groups. Plenty of booths and tables (inside and out) as well. Large beer menu written on the scroll of paper on the wall by the bar, where empty taps are marked off. They also have a large selection of bottled beer.
The food was a bit hit and miss. The steak wasn't made well (overcooked and not seasoned well) but the chicken was spicy and tasty.
Nice place for an after work drink if you're in the area.
Decided to dine here last night because I felt like beer and their type of food.
Something that I was very happy about was their 90's music playlist. Awesome!
We ordered a 4 crate taster and asked the bartender to choose the flavours. To eat we ordered paua fritters, chicken wings and the smoky pork sliders.
I really enjoyed the food especially the paua fritters! I am not a huge fan of bbq sauce do will probably order the beef or fish sliders next time, my husband chose the smoky pork with bbq sauce sliders and loved it.
Service was good, beer was good and food was good. Will definitely be back.
Comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, good location and good beer... Also, not so good beer. We found maybe 5 good out of 12 recomennded. They could be doing a better job weeding out the duds. So, don't just go ordering anything.
Great little spot, try it for yourself. Beer and food pairing that will totally blow you away. Quick service in an awesome spot that you just can't stay away from.
Great to have another craft beer venue in the central city. Good range of Leigh's Sawmill beer and good bar snacks. They serve a tasty pint so well worth a visit
Me and my partner had lunch here one Saturday.
The burger I ordered was great! My partner got a dish which the guy matched with a beer and it surprisingly went well despite not being something he would usually drink.
Definitely recommend. Great atmosphere and the beers are pretty neat!
I've been here twice now, both times have been a pleasant dining experience. My partner took me for my birthday so I could try the beer range... The food was great.Over our visits we've had the fried chicken with the amazing sauce, fish & chips, a range of sliders. All are very tasty and go well with the huge selection of beers. The hardest part if choosing what to eat and drink!
Has some of the best craft beers!! A must visit for any beer lover.lots of choices to choose from but can ask the friendly staff for suggestions. And youwont be disappointed!
Been here several times, the 'crate'of samplers is great if you can't make up your mind. Service is outstanding (as are the beers). Food is well above par, the sliders are yummy.
Not being a big beer drinker, I can't comment on their main focus but they did have a reasonable selection of wines also. Stand out food was Paua fritters, very tasty and well seasoned. Fish sliders were ok, nothing special. Table service was a bit sporadic. More of a place for drinks and nibbles rather than a full dinner.
Came here a few weeks ago for pre dinner drinks and after a excellent recommendations from the bar man tried a tasting paddle. All great Craft Beers and good to see these type of bars arriving in Auckland and hopefully following in the footsteps of Wellington. Definitely worth a visit for the beers alone.
Sixteen tun is a rustically decorated craft beer bar in North Wharf. I've never really noticed it walking by, but Laura Hunt had wanted to try it for a while so i couldn't see why not. :)
A welcoming and friendly waiter greeted us and seated us promptly. Menus are pretty limited, but considering they aren't specialising in food, I was pretty impressed at what they had. We ordered the Calamari, fried chicken morsels and kumara fries - which were small plates and the BBQ smokey ribs which was a large plate.
I'd highly recommend everything we tried except the calamari. I absolutely love calamari but it seriously didn't satisfy. Sadly it was just fried ball of batter. Chicken was beautiful as was the ribs. The portion of ribs was decent.
Atmosphere was nice. Wasn't too busy and the decor is beaut. Gets a tad chilly after sitting for a while though.
Stumbled across 16tun while we were looking for somewhere to eat before a show. Best selection of imported beers I've ever seen.Very knowledgeable bar staff. We liked the look of a certain beer in the chiller and asked one of the wait staff if we could try it - we were then directed to one of the experts who then told us it's their most expensive beer in the bar. Most other places I've been to wouldn't have flinched at popping the cap and serving it up without warning - really appreciated the honesty. Also, by far the best kumara fries I've ever had. Can't wait to go back.
Such an awesome place! Perfect location and what was needed:-) As someone who doesn't often drink beer this was still an enjoyable experience. What really sealed the deal was the menu hat accompanied the beer selection which was simple but still exciting to order from.
What a fantastic place. We really enjoyed trying all the different craft beers available, complete with enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Their Vegetarian dish (Vege Patch) was amazing. As a long time vegetarian, I get very bored with what is usually on offer (tomato pasta) and was delighted that you offered a warm quinoa dish with haloumi and beetroot - ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS! I'll definitely be returning, but will remember to pack a sober driver next time!
Great beer, great food and great service. This place is an excellent complement to NZs Craft Beer boom. Will definitely be back.
Decor is modern with dark wood walls and plenty of copper, booth seating and steam punk lighting, but the place was almost empty when we came past, compared to its neighbours. This could be because it is at the end of run of interesting restaurants and surrounded by quite a few establishments at the new North Wharf complex. I was quite impressed by my Caesar Salad, but the fish sliders and burger I saw others eat appeared lacklustre and also a bit slow to come out. I do think it has potential so will look out for it again in future!
Went to a few places yesterday and this was the pick! Not only was the beer selection impressive but the young lady who served us knew her stuff and was extremely helpful. 10/10!
Don't miss this place the food is incredible. The service is good and the team will help you out with great service. We had many shared dishes, which were all fantastic. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food provided go early or book ahead.
We had a great time. The service was great. The barman knew his beer 🍺 and we tried many. It's the first place I have been where there is a page to no to low alcohol beer as the drive this was great. The place to look at didn't stand out, and there was no beer list at the door, but inside on the wall, there were many. Due to the changing beer list, there is no point in doing a menu of beers available. It was lovely sitting in the sun watching the tram 🚊 go by.
Large selection of craft beers and a mulled wine that helps when it's freezing cold outside
An ideal spot for Friday after works drinks brought us to 16 Tun in Wynyard Quarter. Staff is fantastic and friendly and it was most impressive that they allow you to sample the craft beers and ale to help you choose.
The wine selection was very good to match the lively ambiance and diverse patronage. As the evening chilled set in we ordered some small sharing plates of pulled pork sliders and crispy spicy chicken bites and they were absolutely delicious, hitting the spot!
Popped in for a beer and a quick feed. Fishburger and chips were great. Big selection of beers. Had a pilsner and a white IPA on tap. Delicious.
The best chicken wings I’ve had in town…. interesting selections of craft beer too!
Excellent range of craft beer. Haven't tried the food.
Is a great place at North wharf to get any and mini types of beer
Food is basic pub fare but goes well with the 50 to 100 beers that they have.
Beer beer beer and all great. Busy spot and nice on the small long outdoor area when the sun is shining. I enjoyed the sliders and my partner the very generous wings. We will be back to try 5 other different beers. It's a Freehouse by the way.
