My workmates and I have been here a few times now and will definitely keep coming back. Consistently delicious food and the owner, Arthur, provides a genuine and friendly service.
Superb host. Delicious food. I ordered the chicken Laksa & mee goreng. The laksa had an amazingly flavorsome broth, simply loved the texture & the quality of the dish. The mee goreng was also great with good meat portion and busting flavors. Definitely gonna visit again
Mainly order takeaway, and drive a fair distance to pick up. Their food is full flavoured and delicious. Service has always been prompt and high quality. Their rendang is exceptional
Best Malaysian we’ve tried! We’re fiends for Malaysian and thought Kopio was a little highly priced so held off until now. But we’ve just been for the first time, had a Laksa and Nasi Goreng and it’s easily the best we’ve had... in Singapore and Auckland. There’s no substitute, see you again soon.
Highly recommend this place! Yummy food (I had chicken laksa and my boyfriend got Nasi goreng) and great customer service. Not only was it delicious but the man (who may have been the owner?) was super hospitable even giving us a great free wine each while we waited for the takeaways to be ready as he was worried it was taking too long. He also threw in another free roti and his service was outstanding the whole time. Will definitely be coming back.
Our favourite Malaysian restaurant been here too many times now and This place has never disappointed us the food always taste amazing always the same service is immaculate never a flaw ,kids get great service too disposable easy to use cups of water with lid and straw if you are looking for 0 disappointment check this place out highly recommended
I think Kopio is great and has now become my go to Malaysian place. Beef rendang and roti are really good and true to traditions. Here you taste love and care. Do wish there were more Chinese influenced Malay food on the menu :)
Amazing food. Beautiful atmosphere. The waiter there is an awesome and kind human being and even gave us a very kind discount because we were students. Best Malaysian food I have ever had and the Roti WAS TO DIE FOR. Highly recommend

I love the chicken & prawn laksa here!!! Not only are prawns huge but the tail shells are removed (which restaurants don't usually do for large prawns). Convenient! Fantastic service - the owner is so lovely and really cares for his guests. Kopio has become a regular for us.
Had a beautiful meal here. The only thing that beat the food was the amazing customer service. The server had a passion for the food and was very knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.
One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. So excited to see it return to Parnell. A small menu, well executed. Much of it's business is take-away. Everything uses high quality ingredients. While there is good cheap Malaysian elsewhere - with cheap and cheerful ingredients, MSG, etc. the vegetables, meat, fish is high quality. They are just different experiences. Particular favourites are the rendang - best in auckland and some of the best I've had anywhere, green curry, mee goreng. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
The 2 dishes we had beef randang and prawns and vegetable were very nice even if the portion size was not large. Appreciated the free rice- usually we dont eat rice, but on this occasion it was nice. and most acceptable.Prob not a place we would return to soon but one has the feeling of eating healthy here. BYo an advantage.

Dinner after work at Kopio in Parnell was a well anticipated treat as I’ve heard so many great things about the cuisine. The owner was absolutely charming and so warm and hospitable and he made us feel at home.
We ordered the Red Malay Chicken Curry and the Gado Gado and the food was exceptional the especially with the accompaniment of honey lemon jasmine tea. I look forward to visiting again.
This was absolutely the best Malaysian food we have had ever !!! The food presentation and taste were excellent plus the size portions were really large. Both the owner/chef couple were charming .
Do not be fooled by the simplicity of the decor or facade - the food is seriously good . Shall definitely be coming back
The dinner menu is a bit pricey, but the dishes were very flavourful and the service was also friendly. For people who cannot handle the heat, it is worth advising the staff on the "spice level" for your dishes. The lunch menu may be more affordable, if you happen to work in the neighborhood or be around at the right time - in any case, it is worth a visit if you happen to be in Parnell. We also ordered the mocca and they were quite delicious as well!
Really good flavours. We had green chicken curry and prawn laksa. Everything was cooked well, nice spice (medium) and came out quickly. Impeccable service, especially offering some chamomile tea and rice on the house. Just know that this isn't your usual cheap malaysian food, you are paying a premium for delicious authentic flavours.
The owners' commitment to the quality of the cuisine and experience of their patrons is evident. Not only was the food top notch, but the atmosphere felt very modern. Looking around at the other guests you could see they were all regular customers- a sign we were in good company.

The atmosphere: When you walk in you immediately get the feeling of a modern style fusion restaurant - sharp line furniture, music ranging from pop modern indy to traditional lounge - but the next thing you will notice is how welcoming the proprietors are. The genuine, welcoming kind who actually appreciate your patronage instead of look at you as the next walk-in.
The food: simply put - everything we tried was very good to exceptional.
We started with the Roti which was perfectly toasted and chewy.
The Thai Curry Puffs were flaky and flavorful. The puffs are flavorful enough that the accompanying sauce is questionably needed.
The main event was the Laksa. We ordered Medium heat Seafood and No Chili heat Chicken and Prawns (shrimp) and both were nearly indescribably tasty. No matter your heat preference you will find a well-balanced blend of savory and spice. Have you ever eaten a dish that brings warmth to the soul and belly? This will replicate that experience.
Eat. Drink. Enjoy. We did.
Modest little joint with very kind staff and very tasty dishes, come back is a must.

I spent one night in Auckland alone with my 20 month old daughter while waiting for my husband to arrive. I walked into this place for an early dinner. The owner made me so welcome even though I had a massive stroller. Moving chairs and sitting me alone at a four seater table. He gave me a free drink for my daughter and
specially made me
a noodle dish that I could share with her with extra vegetables and chilli on the side at no extra cost. He also didn't charge me for the extra bowl of rice I ordered for her. The food was healthy, fresh and delicious and the chilli sauce was crunchy spicy and I'm sure home made- yum!! More than anything I felt very welcome as a mum on her own in a strange city. I thought the price was extremely reasonable for the quality of food- thank you.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G !! We had a beef rendang & a prawn laksa. Beef rendang is outstanding 10/10 nicely spicy. Prawns were massive : FRESH. Definitely coming back. It’s our new fav. Service is great too.
I spent quite some time serving food at a Malaysian restaurant and was dying for some rendeng when the host at our nearby accommodations (the Ascott Parnell B&B) suggested we go here.
The food was DELICIOUS and *far* exceeded my expectations! Even my picky vegetarian wife was all about it!
A++. If you are in Parnell or even anywhere in Auckland, do not miss grabbing a dish at this excellent restaurant!
I had my first taste of Malaysian food and I absolutely loved it.
My wife lived in Asian and has been raving about Malaysian food for ever. She was so empressed with Kopio we are taking the family there again tonight. Best Roti's and beef redang.
Veggie laksa is a DREAM! Stuffed full of tofu and veg, flavoursome, nice and spicy. Can't wait until next time!
Food has always been beautifully cooked and the freshest vegetables that tastes good both takeaway and eaten in. The owners are very welcoming.
