Gorgeous restaurant, gorgeous food!
The food at La Fourchette really exceeded my expectations. It was difficult to decide what to pick from their menu as everything sounded so good and authentic. In the end, we decided on the Salmon Tartare and Duck Liver pate for starters and the Coq au vin for mains. The salmon was beautifully fresh and the burrata complemented the salmon so well with its hint of saltiness.
The duck liver pate came with poached pear for a lovely sweetness, brioche bread which lifted the pate with its buttery richness. I adored the braised chicken and jus of the Coq au vin, this dish brought comfort and homeliness to mind. Service at La Fourcette was also impeccable and the waiters were only too happy to give recommendations. Great range of french wines also available for pairing. If you are after an exquisite French dining experience with great food and wine, I would definitely recommend this place!
Really a charm place to go for, the service is polite and friendly. Ommelate is soooo yummy and pretty. Salmon is so delicious, pizza is delightful, even the sides roast veggies is so good! Definitely will back again with our family and friends, they all enjoyed it very much. Thank you La Fourcherte, give us this wonderful dining experience.
It’s always a good idea to brunch by the beach on a sunny day like this. But I got bored with the mainstream cafes in Mission Bay and decided to explore here.
La Fourchette is a restaurant cafe located on the seaside village of St Heliers. The spacious interior, the shades of cloudy blue walls and the simple yet sophisticated decors contribute to the tranquil ambience.
The solemn cutlery setting added sophistication to the lunch experience. I begain with a almond milk flat white. The overly strong espresso and the plain presentation was a little disappointing.
My lunch arrived soon after the coffee. The Wagyu and Savannah Burger was very delicious. The wagyu patty was rich and juicy with bacon, pickles, onion and a tasty truffle mayo sauce. The brioche bun was firm with a tender crust. The fries were fresh and crispy as well.
You can’t go to a French cafe without trying their crepe. So I ordered a Caramel Crepe. The warm crepe was thinly layered with caramel sauce and hazelnut on top. The vanilla ice cream lightened the sweetness of the caramel and creating a balancing flavour.
The service was excellent, I was served by a lovely French waiter, who patiently waited while I was deciding my order. The waiter was attentive throughout the course and often replenished my water.
Food were priced at the upper end, but a premium lunch experience indeed. I believe they also have high tea and dinner courses available, something that I’d be keen trying next time.
Food: 8/10
Food presentation: 8.5/10
Service: 10/10
Ambience: 10/10
Value for money: 8/10
Price $30 per person
I am a fan of croissants and crepe, so here we go, in this french eatery in st heliers for brunch on a sat, love the vibe in this area , perfect spot to bring our dog and take him for a walk after brunch.
The almond croissant was fresh and not too sweet , we liked it, the crepes is enormous, the breakfast crepe was tasty , however my smoke fish one is a little too salty and dry for me , I would love some creme fraiche to balance it.
I will be back to try their French toast next time!
My family and I visited St Helier’s seeing it was such a nice day to go for a walk. We felt like some good food for lunch so we decided to go to La Fourchette. We were seated quickly and we noticed the interior was really pretty. What I really like about La Fourchette is that we got the option of still or sparkling water (some cafes just give you sparkling and I’m not a fan of that).
I decided to get eggs benedict with bacon without hollandaise sauce, my brother got the burger, my parents shared the du Soleil pizza (like a Hawaiian pizza). We also got the kumara sourdough and garlic pizza bread to share so we got a lot of food (had to takeaway). I tried the garlic pizza bread and it was delicious, quite garlicky and extremely flavourful!! I’d definitely get this again especially since it was only $9 for a massive portion. My eggs benedict tasted great as well, they were quite generous with the bacon (4 strips, most cafes give 2-3 strips). The kumara sourdough with miso brown butter was pretty average, I prefer the garlic pizza bread more.
Highly recommend La Fourchette for good food and great service! I know I’ll be back :)
Convenient location with good availability of parking nearby. Decoration is really nice as well as the French atmosphere. Staff are really helpful with service.
Food was excellent. The steak fillet was really well cooked and seasoned as well as the entree.
Would definitely recommend to all.
Amazing food at La Fourchette! I felt like I was in France tonight after dining there and the staff are all extremely friendly. Love the live music from Club Manouche 😋😋😋 They played The Triplets of Belleville soundtrack, I can't believe it! 😂😂😂 Will definitely come back again ;-)
Very nice place with good food. Went there twice already and also ordered their pizza for takeaway twice. If you don't fancy a full meal, they have a good options for pancakes which my daughter loves.
Excellent food, lovely ambiance and friendly staff. We tried their Prosciutto pizza, garlic pizza, Nutella crepe and fries and they were all delicious. The only setback was the service was a bit slow. They are in a pricey side as well.
Great french cafe. Lovely french pastries... specially the madeleines. Nice coffee to go too
Nice and chilled out for a informal drink or meal or family dining.
La Fourchette is absolutely lovely. The coffee is nice and all the food is beautiful. I am a big fan of their pizzas, which can be made gluten free. There are lots of different options for dietary requirements and is a pleasant place to sit both outside and in.
Love their pizza and duck confit!
Tuesday is their 1-for-1 pizza night and we ordered the seafood pizza and chicken pizza. Love how the crust was so thin and the pizzas were not overpowered with cheese. It has just the right amount of everything.
The service was very good and I would definitely go back soon 👍
Best French pastries in Auckland!! Although we haven’t tried the sit down menu yet, we have enjoyed coffee here any times and have taken away their exquisite pastries. Delicious! Service is also wonderful.
Amazing food, amazing service! :) I would highly recommend. I am a happy returning customer! Classic French food, with an updated modern style.
Stopped by for lunch.
We didn't have to wait too long after entering to get seated. After getting water we ordered drinks and then food.
We ordered entrees to share and a main each. The duck liver parfait was amazing. The jelly went well with the rich parfait. the powder was interesting. The tartare wasn't the same as last time. It tasted mostly of cauliflower and didn't taste or feel like a normal tartare, which was slightly disappointing. The Croque Madame was cheesy deliciousness.
The also had a cabinet out front which looked like it has a range of amazing pastries, but wasn't able to try it this time.
Nice service and the food is nice and quite different from other cafes.
Tucked away in the rows of the boardwalk shops at St heliers, this little gem was discovered when my friend and I took a drive up the coast to grab a quick bite. The staff were very friendly and attentive, they made sure we were looked after and they anticipated our needs.
We ordered two gourmet pizzas; the chicken and the meat lovers. The pies were beautiful. So fresh and the crust was crispy. And the portion size was great for the price.
Overall we were very please with the experience and would happily dine here again.
It’s a good place to have brunch or lunch. Pizzas are big enough to share (if you don’t eat a lot) the gallettes are also really good, my favourite dessert is the crème brûlée. Ambience and staff are really nice, every time we go we have a great experience.
A hidden treasure in St Heliers, La Fourchette specialises in French food. On each visit I’ve had, food & service have been consistently good.
Between our group we shared the tomato & mozzarella salad with the duck liver parfait which was Devine.
For mains we had the fish with cauliflower, eye fillet with the duck liver parfait again, and pork belly. All were perfect.
For dessert we had cheeses from their varied selection & the chocolate fondant which was another standout as it was paired with a citrus sorbet & hazelnut crumb.
Recommended by my mother, and very popular, had to wait for a table to free up for a Sunday lunch. They have a cabinet food/coffee area, plus downstairs (stylish elegant) and upstairs (rowdy cramped) seating. The menu is refreshingly French and I went straight for the French Onion Soup (yum). We did have to wait a fair while, but then we were one of the last to arrive for a busy lunch service. Definitely saw quite a few things on the menu that I would still like to try out so will be happy to return!!
Love this place! They do the best crepes by far and the staff is always so friendly and lovely ☺️ such a nice place to get brunch after a walk along the water front. Been coming here for years and they never disappoint
The best pastries, pizzas and crepes/galettes that I've had in Auckland. Friendly chatty staff also. Great coffee and lots of tables and space.
We have visited a few times and have gone out of our way to do so. This is a relaxing and calm destination very suitable for meetings or to enjoy the company of friends and family. A refreshingly different offering for dining and a delightful range of pastries and sweets. Coffee is well crafted at 9.5/10. Reception is excellent. Laid out to enable patrons to enjoy street cafe or takeaway or indoors at casual tables through even to a more formal, discrete dining zone. This very adaptable location is busy but with a subdued, quiet atmosphere. Love the unashamed European theme. Parking is not easy but overall it's worth the trouble.
Great breakfast... i had the petit dejeuner, which included a pastry of my choice, toasted baguette, with jam.. a coffee of my choice and orange juice.. it was great value for money..
we often visit this place as they do great coffee.
Also I love the buy on get one free pizza deal on a Tuesday night.
After a Saturday morning walk we popped in here for brunch. As well as a great selection of pastries in the cabinet they do crepes and meal options. Plus a cute extra of a Hershey's kiss on the side of our coffees! I had the potato and herb hash which was amazing!
Another beautiful hidden gem.
Recommend: love their Baked Breakfast especially the mushroom and the wild pork sausages was cooked to perfection
Price wise: Price is average, you get what you pay for.
Like all restaurants, you know they're amazing if they have 'La' as a prefix in their name. This is no exception! 10/10 restaurant would come any time in this minute!
Lovely French offering in St Heliers. Friendly and welcoming staff. Coffee is excellent. Their galettes are a must-have - full of texture and taste, and highly recommend the one with scallops. We also tried their escargot, and were thoroughly impressed. Their omelette is good too, with the emmental cheese making it uniquely French. One time it did take almost 40 minutes for the mains to come out, but I choose to blame my friend who was celiac and needed strictly gluten-free salad. An excellent alternative to the restaurants on the main road.
It was an enjoyable lunch at the French restaurant La Fourchette. Les Saint-Jacques (grilled scallops & leek fondue), La Forestière (spincah, mushroom & egg galettes, duck liver parfait with veggie, fig & toasted baguette were lovely entrées. Confit duck leg matched perfectly with watermelon, chilli & lime & made an excellent dish. Salted caramel crêpe with biscuit crumble & ice-cream was again spot on for finishing our lunch. (Food - 4.5/5; Service - 4.5/5; Ambience - 4.5/5)
P.S. The last 2 photos show scrambled eggs, smoked salmon & toast & lemon & vanilla sugar crêpe.
Came here for a quick bite. Nice Chocolate croissant and hot Chocolate. Nice location at the heart of st heliers. Will be back again.
We went to La Fourchette for high tea today. We bought the voucher from grabone.
The portion was a little smaller than other high teas I've been to, but the food was pretty good. I enjoyed most of sweets, but definitely enjoyed the savoury stuff more.
The service was not so great though... We were seated upstairs, but after we got our tea and food, we were practically ignored. No one came to top up our water or if we would like more tea.
I am keen to try their menu, and apparently they do wine tasting which i am super keen on!
Went there with a voucher for high tea. The portion is small when compared to other high teas we have been to, however their sweets are really good. Service needs improvement though, as we waited long time until the waitress finally saw our signals for tea refilling. Overall it is a good quality cafe but on the pricy side and would be more so without the coupon.
Nice food, reminds me of when I would go to France for holidays because of the food. I absolutely love the watermelon macaroons. Would definitely recommend it to people who like this type of food.
Very friendly staff and good customer service.
Lovely interior :)
Great food. Didn't know about this cafe until the grabone deal. Definitely going back to this place!
Really enjoyed everything about this place.
Came here for Mother's Day/ very different from what in used to had a salary crepe could have had a little more flavour. The fish special was amazing! Not amazing but nothing to fault. Willbe back to the the sweet crepes
Just love this place... every visit a pleasure. Food is devine. Service is fast and super friendly. Close walk to StH Beach..Highly recommend the crepes.
One of my favourite cafe's in the eastern suburbs, been here time and time again.
Absolute favourite dish is the salted caramel crepes which never fail to please. Most staff really nice and friendly, however sometimes the service can be very slow. That would be the only negative as everything else is really lovely.
Mother's Day dinner with kids and friends. Had a lovely evening - restaurant/chef accommodated our request for the kids to have Steak Frites rather than the much richer beef dish available a la carte. Friendly, informative waiter with good wine suggestions and a nice buzzy ambience. The adults all had the confit de Canard - not the best duck I've ever had but still quite tasty. Great having this place as a local.
Ordered a steak, handmade spaghetti and crepe suzette for lunch.
Steak was gorgeous, the crisp outside and tender inside. Just what you expect for a medium rare chargrilled steak.
Handmade spaghetti have this instant noodles look - but surprisingly, it tasted really good! Wish the portion was larger.
The only let down is the crepe suzette, they should torch it for a little longer, the alcohol taste was too strong.
Overall it's a good meal, will return.

Beautiful french cuisine with all the snacks and deli stuff you expect.
genuine and good effort.
like it I just wish they were not that busy so I can get faster service.
Quite pricey so not for everyday dining or snack bites.
Love coming here for special times and when I feel like a drive☀️ the location is near the beach which is nice. It is a French restaurant and the staffs are very polite and kind. I think they have a wide range of breakfast and dessert that you can also choose from the front. I love their garlic bread as a starter. The eggs Benedict is great the mushrooms are yum. The spaghetti is salty for me. The burgers are delicious the lamb burger👍 should go and try it!
I have dined here multiple times now and I have been impressed every time!
Firstly, the staff are amazing. They are prompt, polite and friendly, constantly toping up water glasses too. The majority are all French which adds such a authenticity to the place.
It's a great location and really pretty inside, very modern and new and has a great vide. Outside seating as well as inside and upstairs, I personally like sitting upstairs.
I have always had pizzas, all of which have been delicious!! Gluten free bases as an option too which is great. The selection of crepes are yummy too. My favourites though have got to be the macaroons. Best I have EVER had! I pop in quite often just to get macaroons out of their cabinet to takeaway.
This is one of my favourite places and I'll defiantly keep returning!
Even though we were just in for some beers, the service was excellent . The atmosphere is both suave enough for a special occasion, yet able to provide a relaxed vibe if you're just wishing to wet your whistle. The desserts look amazing. Cant wait to return and try the food!
This place has been my all time favourite and to go cafe/restaurant ever since it has opened. I just suddenly wondered how come I never get to recommend this delicate french cafe to you guys!
I especially love their quiches and galettes. They are so delicious and finely made, plus the price is really friendly so it won't hurt your wallet that much.
Oh also, the souppppp!! You gotta try that. They change their soup every day and keeps the variety all refreshing and interesting. :) never had a bad experience from them so far (touch wood) and to conclude, it really does make you feel oh so c'est la vie, especially when it's only a minute walk to the St Heliers beach and village!
I recently picked up some macaroons from La Fourchette and I was thoroughly impressed. The macaroons were crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. My personal favourite was the lemon.
I'll definitely be back again to buy more.
Was here when I was in the area and decided to try. Very nice atmosphere, love the ambiance and service is excelent with the waiters being so attentive and willing.
Love love love the salted caramel crepes! And the coffee was nice too.
I would come back even for just the salted caramel crepes! Yumm!!
We come here for breakfast as a treat. I love french cuisine and notice its becoming more popular in Auckland..I love this place. My husband loves the chicken omelette and I love their crepes. Its kid friendly with high chair available. They have a bakery section with lots of bread, macaron, sweets available. My personal fav is the lemon tart. Sweet tangy with perfect pastry. Must try!
I took my partner here for a birthday breakfast and was satisfied with the prompt service and tasty food. The scrambled eggs with salmon were delicately cooked, it was a just a pity the toast was a bit black around the edges. As always the coffee was divine and the wee chocolate on the side was much appreciated! The waitress was chatty and friendly, leaving a positive impression with us. Keen to come back to try their dinner menu.
very cute little place with a cool upstairs dining area. food was great we just had your simple pizza and fries and got a good deal: 1 free pizza!!! overall great experience!!
La Fourchette is a little piece of France located off the Main Street of St Heliers. It is a light open space open for breakfast through to dinner and specialising in all things French!
I recently dined here for their High Tea ($45pp) which is served from 3pm to 5pm. For groups of greater than two food is served on both the traditional tiered plates as well as stylish and smart black tiles. The savouries included warm mini croissants, smoked salmon crackers, mini quiches and delightful mini mushroom crépes. Fortunately for us, as we dining in a larger group, we were able to sample a wider selection of macarons - flavours included vanilla, lemon, mojito, chocolate, rose, watermelon and strawberry with basil to name a few. In addition there were also custard profiteroles, raspberry and chocolate mouse slices.
A selection of black and green teas were available to choose from. There is also and option of the $65pp champagne High Tea or separate bubbly can be purchased at the bar.
The mezzanine floor was stuffy and hot when we dined but this was easily remedied when we asked for the air conditioning to be turned on/up. The staff are truly French so as one of the waiters requested "speak slowly"! I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. It's away from the hustle and bustle if the city but still special enough for a catch up. Parking is also a breeze!
Good food, unfortunately I waited long time to get my meal.
Restaurant was way to noisy.
I will be back again though. Really tasty simple food and well cooked. Hoping to see some improvements in service.
Joined three old friends for dinner at La Fourchette in March. Our table was just inside with enough inside-outside to enjoy the warm evening. Our waiter was delightful - his strong French accent a little bit hard to follow at times, but he cheerfully repeated when requested so that we Kiwis could decode where necessary. His recommendation of the Rose was spot on and we went on to order a second bottle. Our food was beautiful - both in presentation and flavour, and as we shared our entree platters and samples each other's mains - the quality was consistent across all the dishes. All in all it was a lovely evening.
Went to La Fourchette on our last business trip from Wellington (being French we thought we should check it out). The food is simple but very good and flavorsome and the staff (mostly French) were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is modern and although it was very busy it wasn't too noisy. All in all a great experience to be repeated on our next trip to Auckland.
The best meal we have had in a long time. We went there on my husband's 40th Birthday which was also a Valentine's Day. The place was really busy and we did have to wait for our mains for about 40 mins but it was worth it. The duck was tender and meat was falling off the bone, the mint puree absolutely delicious. The scallops were a culinary masterpiece.
Attentive service, great food and cosy atmosphere. Will definitely come back.

La Fourchette (The Fork) which opened mid 2013, is the big sibling to L’Assiette (The Plate or The Dish) in Britomart. La Fourchette is an all-encompassing eatery, it's a French cafe/ patisserie/restaurant. The patisserie section of La Fourchette proffers a range of tarts, macarons and eclairs from Ma Cherie patisserie, as well as a selection of sandwiches, quiches and salads to take away.
La Fourchette has an extensive menu; there’s all the breakfast favourites; - pain perdu (aka French toast), ouefs benedicte, l’omelette and croque monsieur or madame, and the typical continental petit dejeuner which consists of pastry, baguette, jam, orange juice and a hot drink. The main menu expands to galettes (buckwheat crepes), pizza, a range of plats, shared platters, crêpes and fromage (cheeses). There is also la formula du jour (daily fixed price menu, $29 for 2 courses and a drink, $36 for 3). For dinner, you get the addition of steaks and a bigger dessert menu.
I was brought here one evening to sample their crêpes. The caramel salé (salted caramel) crêpe was very good; great texture (though I do like my crêpes to have some crisp to the edges), layered in a wonderful salted caramel sauce, topped with biscuit crumbs and served with whipped cream ($9).
The service was friendly and efficient, and truly lived up to its neighbourhood bistro charm. Which was why, three days later, when I was asked on suggestions for a lunch outing, La Fourchette was top of my list. With the warm summer weather, we decided to sit outside. I went for le forrestière galette (savoury buckwheat crêpe with herbes de provence roasted mushroom, buttered spinach, emmental and topped with a raw egg yolk, $15.50). This is probably the best galette I have had in Auckland, and is quite a substantial meal.
Younger brother had the pâté de canard (duck liver pâté with caramelised figs, toasted brioche and blue cheese salad, $16). I had a taste, and it was delicious, superbly smooth and sublimely savoury. Sis-in-law had the moules marinières (green-lipped mussels cooked in white wine, shallots, garlic and served with fries, $23). The mussels were cooked perfectly, tender and flavoursome. Though for 8 small-ish mussels, this was an expensive dish. She wanted an iced coffee, which wasn’t on the menu, but they were happy to comply. And it was excellent.
From 3-5pm, La Fourchette serves high tea. What doesn’t this place do? I was very impressed both times I was here. The service is attentive (earlier reviews were mixed), the food is well executed and the location is perfect, well, I might be a tad biased.
