Came for lunch, all the dishes are amazing, service super friendly. Staffs moving fast, environment nice and clean.good location, near sky tower.
Went here a few months ago. The food was delicious and service, amazing! We ordered the bento dinner boxes. The salmon teriyaki was to die for. Definitely a hidden gem. Will return to this restaurant in the near future!
This restaurant, although small has the biggest range of exquisite foods and the staff are so polite. Great place for a business dinner. one dish I have had id's the Teriyaki salmon... it really is yummy! The green tea ice cream is also a fantastic way to end the evening.

I had amazing dishes with my important client at Fuga yesterday. My client was also happy with all dishes at Fuga. Sashimi (KINMEDAI), Scallop Sashimi are super fresh and Tuna carpaccio and Tempura Prawn were absolutely amazing. Everything was beyond my expectation. GREAT RESTAURANT. Highly recommended. Â Dont forget to check Today's special on board. They are especially amazing.
Great food consistently fresh and authentic Japanese taste. I had sashimi and a miso soup. Second time a sushi-sashimi combo. Lots of food and very delicious. I would go there over and over a again!!! Highly recommended
I had a salmon dish. The dish looked simple with salmon, sauce and some beans. Tasted as good as simple it looked. enjoyed the dish. i would go there again.
I love Fuga.
We normally try menu from blackboard as owner told me that menu changes accordingly to what they got from market in the morning.
My favourite is sashimi on rice either salmon or tuna, or both.
Their genelous cut of sashimi is very fresh and just a hint of vinegar in the rice.
It comes with little side dish, fresh salad and miso soup for $18 is a very reasonable price consider their location and quality of food.
I absolutely LOVE Fuga!! Went here with my family for dinner on a Friday night for my sister's birthday  without a booking and waited around 15 minutes for a table; the waitress kept apologizing for making us wait she was so nice haha.
We had ordered for the table, one dinner set which was the 50 dollar set that included an entree, tempura, sushi and sashimi, soup and dessert. Two of us including myself ordered the sushi and sashimi set and my dad had ordered the special bento box that was on that night ( $35).
Everything was absolutely beautiful! The sashimi were sliced with such precision and tasted so fresh! The tempura was to die for, and especially the beef steak that came in the special bento box YUMYUMYUM food was 11/10 ! Because it was my sister's birthday, the boss lady gave each of us a complimentary green tea ice cream too which was served with some cornflake bits, OMG hands down the best ice cream I've ever tried ( I had heard their ice cream was Kohu Road ice cream, some seriously expensive quality stuff :) ). In addition to this, we shared the green tea ice cream crepe that came with the dinner set for one of our meals. I highly recommend this dessert as every spoonful was an absolute delight; served with fruits and honey, it was a perfect ending to a fantastic night.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone searching for a good and friendly place to eat some real Japanese food. The service was outstanding and prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. Dish of the night: the set meals and the green tea ice cream crepes , i.e. everything :D
It take 16min to have to meal.i tell you what it's pretty good time.
Food was amazing one of the best Japanese food I ever had.however they had only one waitress on busy Friday night.
She was pretty fast and good attitude.
Customer service 4.5 out of 5
Food 4.7 out of 5
To get a order 3.5 out of 5
Excellent food in an easy to find mid-town location, just next to Sky City. Fuga has been here for a while and unfortunately the furniture shows it: the stuffing in some of their chairs left the building a long time ago. Plus the service needs a little less panic and more planning. But the food is excellent!
You've heard that comment about the good Chinese restaurants being the ones where the Chinese go? Well on the night I visited Fuga, there were four tables of Japanese - the biggest a group of ten - and they were all enjoying what they ate.
I ordered their special and got a starter of perfectly seared beef on fresh spinach salad leaves and julienne daikon radish; tempura with a perfect coating and a special dipping sauce; a platter of sashimi and nigiri sushi artfully presented; and the finished with a lovely green tea ice cream served in a martini glass for a sugar cone "hat", fanned slices from a small apple, and a small quantity of fruit paste.
I'll be back :-)
Beautiful present food! Fresh and yumm. Great price. Highly recommend. Special menu change all the time! I will have my special function here next time. I like fuga set menu and desert! Nice service. Close to skytower, easy to find.
Great food and the price is reasonable. Service is good too.
I love my 3 colored Don. (chicken, salmon and tempula!!) Every dish I have had are beautifully represented and very fresh.
Only the improvement they could make is an air conditioning and bathroom facility, it could be better.
Delicious.. Great service.. Have seen this place while passing by, but thought I'd give it a try. Really nice food. Not cheap for dinner, but worth the money paid. No complaints. Well done
Hidden secret alright! This place has a fantastic lunch menu, very good price and the dishes are prepared with care and come out looking and tasting awesome. I happen to stumble across this while on conference near the Sky tower, now I have been back twice already. I would definitely recommend you give this a try.
Fuga is one of Auckland's best kept secrets, it's the best Japanese lunch menu in city area easily. Ultra fresh, big portions and beautiful presentation wins us every time. Excellent seared tuna salad don wth crunchy veg melt in your mouth fresh tuna and a zingy sauce, also the trio platter with mounds of chiken teriyaki, salmon and tempura best value for money. Fully rate this place!
I have eaten at Fuga around four times and each dining experience has been great. I love the food. The service is prompt and courteous. We have always felt very welcomed. The ambiance is good, and best of all, there's no loud music, so conversation is easy and relaxing.
Tried this place for lunch first and have returned for dinner. A bit hard to find street parking but at least it is free after 6pm - otherwise you can park in the Casino (good if you are Action Club Member and a gambler).
Very good value lunch. Like $16-$20. We had the set menus. Very tasty, and good value. Excellent (and quick) service from cute Japanese girl.
I went back for dinner with my wife to enjoy a bigger selection of dishes. We had beef tataki with a ginger sauce, spicy chicken salad, tuna wasabi (never seen this dish before), for mains lamb with almond miso sauce (again a dish I had never seen before in a Japanese restaurant) and snapper (sauted with some vegetables).
Finished off with a dessert like a panna cotta (can't remember the name) and a green tea ice cream in a crepe that had a lovely crispy edge.
All the dishes were beautifully presented - like in an upmarket expensive restaurant.
Wine list is a bit limited but good Japanese beer and sake selection.
Overall good value for dinner, and the chef seems to be very talented, and good at making some interesting sauces to embellish his dishes.
Lovely little place run by locals. You know it's good when it's packed with Asians. I thoroughly enjoyed the sushi sashimi bento box and the sake they recommended. Great and speedy service, plus seemingly authentic decor and atmosphere. Satisfied my Japanese ð craving.
Great food & service! Serving sizes are generous. Highly recommend, will be back the next time we visit Auckland :-)
A rare restaurant in Auckland where you can get authentic Japanese food.
You can't go wrong with any dish you order :)
Food is really nice as always! Hospitality is really good and the lady in the restaurant is super nice and lovely.
This is our go-to-place when weâre craving for Japanese food. ð
Traditional Japanese style cuisine at reasonable prices.
Lunch is highly recommended, with a wide range of dishes on the menu, including donburi (bowls of rice) from $10.
In autumn(around mid-May) homemade salmon roe(Ikura) may be available.
The only Japanese place worth coming to, so authentic and such good experience. Higher price than average but ð
Lovely service - the two women were so welcoming and kind. The prawn and vegetable tempura were so fresh and delicious. Iâd definitely recommend a visit!
Service was great and courteous. Owner Eriko was friendly. Enjoyed the sashimi, seafood tempura with rice & miso soup. Found the food to be very authentic Japanese. Went away making a friend. Highly recommended venue.
I had the pork katsu don for lunch. It was very good with a nice crumb on it. The service was very fast and friendly. This place seems a very nice example of a small family run Japanese restaurant.
What an amazing place to randomly come across.
If you are in the area please do yourself a favour do not pass this place without eating here.
The food was amazing the price very reasonable.
Came for a date night with my partner and we will 100% be coming back.
Hats off the the chef, best Japanese restaurant around.
