Usually eat at Tart about once a week and have yet to be disappointed. Tried the Thai pizza tonight upon recommendation from a staff member. Absolute 10/10 amazing; made even better by a side of the best kumara fries around and gorgeous staff
I used to live just around the corner and would go here for breakfast almost every day on my walk to work. They never disappoint and the staff are so friendly and helpful. My all time favourite was the lemon “chicken” sandwich. I don’t live in the area any more and Tart is the biggest thing I miss about it!
I have been here twice now ever since I discovered it on my visits back home to Auckland. It's been consistently excellent and the mushroom pie is AWESOME! The mince/steak and cheese pies are also very good, and they make a kick-ass vegan croissant that's better than many I've had. Highly recommend to anyone, vegan or not, but if you're vegan and haven't been here yet then you really ought to right this minute.
Great donuts - still soft and fluffy even after few hours, not too sweet and the texture really soft, will def be coming back :)
Although I am not vegan I still love these pies! Also the slices are to die for🤤 I prefer this bakery to the other ones within the area that sell real meat pies.
There is such thing as a vegan heaven. Oh my. Just the thought of that cream donut in my mouth. I cannot. I have also been craving a Pain Au Chocolat since the beginning of time (it seems) and Tart delivered! This place is beyond spectacular.

Great vegan food. I recommend the sausage rolls, donuts and danishes. Get there early to avoid disappointment as they can sell out of popular items quickly.
The best chocolate donuts ! So simple & delicious - the perfect ratio of icing to donut . One very happy customer whom is not vegan . I will definitely be back for more
Awesome lil vegan bakery. The pie pastry is my fave here. I love the mushroom pie. Nothing fancy just plain mushrooms with some type of sauce in a delicious pie crust. Nice and simple and well made. So are all the sweets. Alllllll delicious. Im currently in the middle of eating through most things in the cabinets.
I give tart a 4/5 as any eatery that doesn’t serve animals/dairy products is an automatic 4 in my eyes. But please, turn 👏🏻 your 👏🏻 oven 👏🏻 down 👏🏻. I love everything about tart but their oven must be on too high as every time I buy a sausage roll they are always brown golden brown on the outside but still raw on the inside. The flavor is all there and the pastry is insane, I can’t believe it’s vegan. I see they have made them smaller and also lowered the price (true hero’s) so maybe someone has already informed them of this. I really should tell them this in person but everyone who works there is so nice and I am a scardy cat. Love your work, keep doing you but someone please turn the dial down and keep those babies cooking for a bit longer
tart bakery honestly has a special place in my heart. i’ve been coming here for a few years and i still get excited because their food is so bomb and phillipa, her family, and staff are so lovely!! i always get the pizza if i’m quick enough, this place is always busy and with good reason. sandwiches are also amazing!! everything is delicious
Whenever I visit they always have great customer service and amazing food. Everything is vegan but I would recommend this bakery to everyone.
Although I’m not vegan (I still take dairy) I’m always happy to be able to order stuff without having to double check anything. The food I’ve tried has been good so far, except maybe the spinach and cheese pie, not sure what dairy substitute they used but I wasn’t a fan. Pastries were good.
I think we've found heaven in Bakery form. We had the Roast Vege pie and some chocolate slices. (Not) to die for 💜💜💜💜 - can't wait to come back, very affordable. Everything was delicious.

Literally my favourite place of all time. Every item of food is delicious. The donuts and the "steak and cheese" pies are to die for. As a vegan this place is a dream. 👌🏻✌🏻
We got a vegan cronut from this bakery after lunch. The cronut was really soft yet crunchy and it had custard and mandarin in the centre. There was sugar and chocolate sprinkled on top. Delicious.
Happy ambience, 5 star plus service, friendly and kind staff. Willing to go the extra vegan mile. Food truly fabulous and delicous. Pastries excellent and a variety of vegan pies to tittilate your palate. Highly recommend.
One word - flawless. The pies, cakes, pizza, sandwiches and coffees are out of the world. I was lucky to have tried the Burgers on the recent Burger Night and it was an evening to remember. Although I am not Vegan myself or have any special dietary requirement/s, I think this little Bakery is a MUST for those who are Vegan and or have an allergy to dairy/intolerance, and of course, those who just want just a taste of vegan/dairy-free goodness!
Located along the strip of shops in Grey Lynn, You cannot miss the big 'Voted Best Bakery' signage. I can happily say that it is one the best Vegan Bakery my tastebuds has experienced 😏.

I was lucky enough to try the INFAMOUS Coconut cream doughnut, the Mushroom and Cashew pie and also a soy latte. And yes, it was all for me!
The doughnut was huge and yum! The taste and texture mimics the ordinary dairy cream jam doughut, but with a coconut-ty twist of course. Unique thing the baker did, which was to spread jam on the inner side of the doughnut. Thus, rather than just having a dollop of jam on the top you are able to get an even spread of jam with every mouthful.
Pie was also delish! It was my first experience and taste of a soy latte and can say it deffs wont be the last!
Staff was very friendly and welcoming and will be coming back to try more vegan goodness! Still amazes me at how EVERY food item sold is vegan/dairy-free friendly!!
Tart bakery is the best. Everyone I have ever taken there has loved it, and I've taken a lot of people here. Get a spinach and cheese pie and a cream filled donut, though me saying this should not tempt you from getting more. And by that I mean everything. Also the first Friday fry ups are the best. Every burger is fantastic - I especially like the Mexican one. People and service are lovely there too. All round excellent.
I was soooo happy to learn we have an entire bakery in auckland full of vegan food!! The service here is friendly and the food amazing. Go here whenever I feel like a treat.
Tart Bakery is amazing if you're vegan or allergic to dairy! They do divine fruit pastries that taste like the real deal. I was most impressed by their chocolate, mandarin and custard danishes, where the custard tasted like the usual custard and was deliciously gooey. Its pastry was golden and flaky. Their blueberry danishes were also particularly good. Any of the pastries are beautifully presented and also huge, easily covering most of my hand. This is a great place to indulge your sweet tooth.
I absolutely love pies and the only pies Ive ever had were of the meat variety but now that im meat/dairy-free I couldn't wait to try out pies from here. And I was disappointed! I ordered a steak n cheese - filling was nice but there was nothing cheesy about it. I also ordered a thai chicken which was also nice but I just felt that there wasnt enough pie filling like there was more pastry than filling. Also ordered a fake salami roll which was ok. Coconut cream donut was my favourite, it was sooooo good which I didnt expect. I so badly want to give this place a higher rating, hopefully next time the pies will have more filing. UPDATE - I went back and had a mex pie and there was more pie filling.
I was drawn in by the large banner above the entrance saying "Best Auckland Bakery 2017", and I was not disappointed!!
Amazing selection of treats! That not only look appealing but taste amazing. Though I was only in the area for the day due to work, will certainly be planning trips out that way just to dop by again in future.

I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I like food at Tart Bakery because they are yummy. My favourites are berry pie, donut, pizza bread and veges on almond pie pastry. Long black with coconut milk wasn't too bad. I love this place.

Great little bakery if you are vegan or yogic about your food. But be aware that pastries and doughnuts will not taste like the real deal. Great for the yogis but the French markets still do it for our family if you have no vegan cares.
Amazing! I'm allergic to dairy and finding this place was an absolute god send! I've tricked a few friends into trying my food without telling them it's vegan and no one could tell the difference ! Some of them even preferred it over their normal pies and doughnuts ! Staff is incredibly helpful and nice ! Not one bad thing to say except I wish it was closer to where I lived !
Very delicious & fully vegan!! Had the cronut, sausage roll and croissant. Can vouch for all. Even my non-veg boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his food. 11/10 👌
I am a huge fan of Tart. But you do need to check the vegan sausage rolls are reasonably fresh...nothing worse if they are sitting there for hours! They do make fab fresh rolls - try the butter "chicken"... I gave one to a friend without mentioning it was all plant based. He was convinced it was pork, which it wasn't - Ive discovered some vege and vegan friends don't care for meat replicas!
This is a great little bakery...one of a kind in Auckland. Super lovely owner and staff. Tasty treats that you wouldn't even know are actually vegan. Not the healthiest, but very yummy and reasonably priced.
Best vegan goods in AKL. The cabinet is always jam packed with heaps of yummy treats (my personal favs are the sausage rolls, pizza and pan aux raisin)

Best of best. So happy this place exists. Everything is absolutely delicious and vegan! All the pies are amazing and sweet stuff, not expensive at all which I love. All my non vegan friend love it too.

Worth it's weight in gold. A vegan gem of Auckland. Owner is lovely, staff are great. Not steak and cheese pie was yum, and coconut cream donut was genius. It has cherry jam all the way through it to cut through the richness of the coconut cream. Really knows what she's doing. Also picked up a can of sweetened condensed coconut milk at the till for $3.50, so look out for those when she has random veganised foodstuffs in.
Always been a regular customer at this little vegan bakery , always greater with a smile and plenty to choose from .

Ermagerd! I am sooo excited about this place! Vegan junk food! We no longer have to walk past bakery after bakery, sighing as we look at the delicious pies, donuts and slices we can't have! I went in and was immediately greeted by a lovely, enthusiastic, fellow vegan named Philipa who proudly showed me all the delicious 'fakery' food and let me know what ingredients they use and even gave me and my partner a decent sized tester of a mint and chocolate slice. It was good to know they alternate between non-dairy milks and don't use soy milk all the time. I had a sugar donut, sausage roll and a cream donut made with whipped coconut cream.... OMG words cannot describe how delicious these things were! That cream donut though! It brought me right back to biting into one, a very long time ago. It tasted EXACTLY the same... It was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately I got there too late to try one of the four devine sounding pies, but I will be back!! Philipa you are awesome and your food is finger lickin goooood!
Vegan pies!!! Vegan pies with vegan cheese!! Gah! Seriously, what more needs to be said! Haha I have and been happy with the vegan pies, sausage rolls, apple turnover and donuts - they were all super duper awesome and made me a happy vegan. New Zealand is such a backward country in its acceptance of veganism, which means vegan food and treats are had to find. Vegans love pies too man. Vegans love Tart Bakery because they bring us pies.
Tart Bakery has a incredible range of delicious vegan treats. The service is also always impressive and I really appreciate the fact that they don't charge ridiculous amounts for their vegan options- like a lot of other cafes do. I would definitely recommend Tart to vegans and non-vegans alike.

I ran down to get a donut as I was missing great donuts since becoming vegan and although shut Phillipa let me in and as she was all out of donuts gave me a chocolate filled croissant to taste test!
Phillipa and her son are really great and passionate about animal free products. When I finally got to taste the donut it was so good!

Amazing. The whole place is Vegan, so easy to make choices. The food is divine! Amazing moist cakes, slices, donuts savory pies, sandwiches, crossiants, etc.

YUMYUMYUMYUMYUM!!!!!! Delicious hand pie, frankfurter and caramelized onion roll, lemon “chicken” sandwich, and the cherries on top were the fabulous apple and caramel donuts (that were fluffy, yeasty and not too sweet). What a treat!!! 10/10. Will be back again ❤️
I ordered a 'chicken' sandwich and coconut cream doughnut and both were absolutely divine. I live on the north shore but I made a special trip to go to Tart because they're fully vegan, and honestly it was worth the trip. The only complaint that I have is that there isn't one on the north shore! The food is incredible and I will definitely be back again.
I live just down the road and never thought I’ll find this hidden tasty full of deliciousness near my door step. I’m lactose intolerance and I used enjoy all the pastries and then stopped because of bloating. But now I can eat as much as I can from Tart and guess what they let me have a free one to taste. Love you all. Definitely be back on regular basis
My partner and I were staying at the Convent Hotel down the street and went here every morning for breakfast. Delicious coffee, DIVINE pastries, and such nice people. The fruit Danish, sausage roll, cinnamon donut, and ham and cheese croissant were our favorites. We even took two of the ham and cheeses with us for lunch on our dolphin watching boat tour. A vegan breakfast fiend's dream! Don't miss if you are in the area.
Really love the vegan food I have tried from here! Fav things so far have been two flavoured danish, the peanut butter choc slice and one of the sandwiches (lemon chiken on right?) A bit pricey but understandable since they are Vegan options. I’m sure I will return :) thanks!

I stumbled upon this bakery and what a find! It has all the food my dairy-free dreams are made of! A personal favorite is the biscoff croissant, though there are many sweet and savoury treats to enjoy. This is definitely becoming a regular spot for me!
