Haven’t had Chicken Laksa in awhile. I guess Selera have one of the better laksa’s available in Auckland.

Though I feel the broth is a bit too thick (or maybe it’s just my preference to have it slightly thinner), it is quite delicious and full of flavour. Serving is decent, more than enough for an average-sized Asian girl 😂

Teh Tarik is alright, not too sweet :)

Portions are really big. Especially the laksa which was super tasty and came in a massive oversized bowl. Lots of meat and noodles and I wanted to finished the whole base but was top much. We were happy with the $18 dishes. Can't speak for price/portion on the more expenny stuff.

Embraced Selera for lunch for the first time and it was so good. The service provided by the boss was really attentive and he was extremely kind. He provided top notch service especially for the price for the food and that’s what makes Selera special.

I got the Hainan chicken rice and it’s one of the best I’ve had in Auckland. The rice was full of chicken flavour and it tasted really authentic. The bean sprouts soaked the soy sauce really well. What I like to do is eat all the bean sprouts first and let the chicken sit in the soy sauce for awhile to soak in all the sauce. My brother got the chicken laksa and the portion was really big and smells wonderful too. Mum got the shrimp and chicken rice noodle and she said it’s good too.

Highly recommend Selera for authentic Malaysian food. Great price and service too! Can’t ask for anymore.

This place gets really busy so it's hard to get an indoor table, especially for bigger groups. However, there are outdoor tables available. It's also good to know that the restaurant has a pay-first policy so that you don't get alarmed when staff takes table orders and asks you to pay. I wished they had Malaysian drinks like kopi or cham. But canned drinks are at $3.

Despite the rather cramped table layout (I had to get the guy behind me to push in his chair just big enough for me to squeeze in), food has been splendid. My personal fave is the pandan chicken which I always get whenever I dine there. All the dishes I've tried so far were great. With my partner being Malaysian, we can definitely say that the food here is authentic and delicious.

You really can’t go wrong with the laksa from Selera!
I love coming here on the warmer evenings and have a big bowl of laksa outside!
The portions are huge and you can pick from so many options to customise your laksa! My personal favourite is the wontons!
The service is quick and friendly! Remember to ask for yours spicy, I always need more spice!
I’d also recommend the curry puffs which come with a half egg in each one!!!
Make sure you visit the one in Kyber Pass, I’d recommend it over the new Selera in the mall

Delicious and tasty Malaysian dishes with fast service. Portion sizes are huge and great value for money.
The laksa was the absolute best - we got both a chicken and a pork laksa.

They don’t take bookings so you’ll have to try your luck as a walk-in. The restaurant gets quite busy so it may be a bit difficult if you’re going with a bunch of people.

I love the atmosphere of this place, and Ben though it could be a bit cleaner. I had chicken laksa which Was very tasty, other dishes on the menu like the beef rendang are a bit overpriced but definitely worth trying them. Will come back.

We ordered hainanese chicken rice and seafood curry laksa. Chicken was tender and my Malaysian bf said it tasted authentic. Rice wasn't as fragrant as we'd like it to be. Laksa was tasty, the broth was creamy and rich. Overall, great experience sitting outside with the heaters. Fast service as well.

Went here for the first time tonight, my partner and I stumbled across it by chance after the original restaurant we had planned to go was closed. We will be back again for sure. We were seated straight away (lucky timing as it was FULL), we were tended to very quickly and our food didn’t take long to be bought out, staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, fresh, tasty, everything you’d want! With how busy this place was, one table would become free and people waiting at the door would snap it up straight away, goes to show just how popular and great (understatement) this place is!!!

Did you watch that hawker food scene from Crazy Rich Asians and really wish that you could try it in real life? Well, turns out that they didn't even film in Malaysia and I'm sure the actors fake-ate the food for the shot. You just can't win. The next best thing is eating here. It's not your dinner-with-Nick-Young moment, but it does not disappoint. Try the tofu.

Been there many times and always good. The staff and friendly and helpful. Food wise, the hainan chicken is a great treat to yourself, as the rice is cooked in chicken broth which is full of flavor. Laksa is another recommendation. Lots of spices and will be a warm dish in winter.

We’ve been here twice. During the first visit, I ordered the Hainan Chicken and my wife ordered the Beef Rendang. They were delicious! Worth the price! Our recent visit, I tried the Char Kueh Tiaw and she ordered the Seafood Laksa, they didn’t disappoint. We’ll surely keep coming back to try other dishes. The only down side is that they’re so popular that there isn’t enough tables unless you like sitting in the cold at night. 🤤🤤🤤

These portion sizes are out of this world, and while the prices may be 6 times more than what you would find in Malaysia, the ingredients and flavours more than make up for the tears leaking down the side of my wallet. I found the flavours to be a bit tweaked towards the western pallet as certain elements of the dish were a bit more punchy than I was used to. The beef rendang was a bit too sweet for my liking, however, the texture was fantastic. These dishes are also not nearly as oily as the ones you may find back in the motherland. Would give 4.5/5 if I could!

A good Malaysian restaurant for a quick meal , their famous laksa is really good. My partner will literally drink all the soup ...

Had been here a few times and tried a few different dish, chicken rice and Char Kueh Tiaw are both nice .

Price are on the high side compare to similar Malaysian places , they priced around $18-$20+ for one dish , other places would cost around $13-$18...

Amazing place!! Fills up quiet fast but staff are quick to seat you and make you comfortable. We were a group of 3 and ordered the bbq pork laksa to share--they don't skip on portion size, uggh so good! Also had the lamb curry with rice and roti, which was amazing but would have been nice with a little kick, also ordered the bok choy veggies and sweet and sour pork- eyes bigger than our stomachs!?! Food and service were absolutely amazing, definitely looking forward to coming here again.

Food- 4/5
Ambience- 3.5/5

Had the beef nasi lemak-rice was aromatic with the coconut and pandan flavour. Huge serving of chicken laksa which was creamy and had the right spicy hit.Really good on a cold night. If you are not a big eater and had other small dishes the soup is good for 2.

Been here twice. 2nd was a bit of wait as the line was long to get in. Even the outside seating was packed, I guess it was a start of dinner service around 6:30. They don’t take reservations.Self service on the tea and water. You have to order and pay before they serve your food.Parking might be limited as its located near a busy intersection on Broadway. Although in the evening might be easier to find one

It’s a cool little Malaysian street food place.
Prices are not high and the portions are big. You can feed 2 hungry people with 1 bowl of noodles. The taste is not bad and spicy enough. The service is not the best but I guess it’s what you get in this type of place.
Very busy during lunch time.
Environment is a bit run down and not the cleanest toilets.
Still I would give a 4star because of the combination: food, quality, price
Would definitely go back.

Walked past here a few times and noticed the place is very popular, decided to give it a go.  Surrounded by expensive restaurants in the area, you do feel it's such a good value for your money. You'll get a huge bowl of noodles if you ordered Laksa and it's very tasty. However all it can offer is street food rather than something at a restaurant level.

Had the traditional chicken laksa, chicken with mas sauce and rice as well as satay skewers. Super tasty Malaysian food, one of the best in Auckland. Really fast service, paid first, got our food, there's even outdoor seating which was convenient because the inside was stuffy and hot. Decent price for the portion! Great array of choices! The chicken was all so moist. Even the skewers which you'd think would be charred pieces of dry meat were tasty and juicy, it didn't even need any sauce on the side. It's all on the sweeter side with the sauces and coconut creams so if you're into that kind of thing, you'd enjoy this. The mas chicken sauce was a little too sweet for me but the chicken was so tender. Would love to come back and try the beef rendang and hainan chicken.

I’m rating them solely based on their salt and pepper chicken, because that’s what I always order when I go there. I don’t know if that dish is authentic Malaysian cuisine, but I love it. Quick service too. The only downside is having to share tables with others if there’s only a few of you.

Came out of a restaurant after long time without any complaints. Will visit soo again before I leave Auckland. Almost all the people that came in had to wait for an table. So good here!! My mum is from Malaysia so this is like a little slice of home. Super authentic flavours and great range of dishes, I ordered the Char Kuey Teow and my partner ordered a combination laksa. It tasted amazing, I only wish the portion size was a bit bigger for mine. I also thought the laksa was missing a few things like crab cakes or fish cakes and maybe some prawns? There is an option for seafood so maybe they’re catering for people that don’t like seafood but usually traditional laksa has those included.
The chicken and sweet corn soup however was amazing and so were the fried buns!! Would recommend for a quick and tasty meal!

Handy tip- these kinda Asian restaurants don’t have a wait list if it is full, so if there is a free table probably just go and grab it!

This place is always packed, and the wait was long on my previous visit. Regardless of the wait the waiter(seemed like the owner) was very polite and kind to us, offered us table inside as the outside was pretty cold. It was very nice to see these second language speaking owners being very proactive to provide the best customer service experience.
Food was also great, portion was not too big but mattered nicely in huge bowls.

Have been this Malaysia restaurant several times. Although I’ve never tried any traditional Malaysia food at their original place, I believe all dishes of Selera served by the chefs come from Malaysia and with their passion on their job. Laksa is one of my favorite dishes with this restaurant. But it seems like smaller than before and not enough for a man.

Really enjoy this place, simple good food. First time we visited we had the Laksa and the other rice dish pictured which I have forgotten the name of! Both were really good, full of flavour. The second time we ordered the sambal chicken, which I didn't realise was a fish paste and ended up tasting like fishy chicken (100% my fault there).
We also ordered spring roles, unfortunately these were filled with cabbage and not much else which we didn't enjoy.

Seating, decor and atmosphere is very basic. Just a great place to get yummy food!

Went for lunch with friend. Food is ok, but service is poor. Have to order food from the front desk by yourself, no staff attend to you at table side. Ordered two dishes but they missed one. We thought it’s just they were slow with delivering food. Only figured the second dish was not even been placed until one of us were almost finishing with the meal by coming to the front desk and ask why it’s taking so long. Very prompt service here! Got all our 6 meals within 15mins, super fast. Nice friendly waitresses. Food was REALLY good, like surprisingly good. I got the vegetarian laska, not too spicy, massive serving, simply delicious. Only thing about it I could say, my mum and sister agreed, we would have preferred some more veges within in. It was a massive bowl, couldn’t finish it, but it was mainly egg noodles with a few veges here and there. I had 3 bits of broccoli within mine. Just would prefer a bit more.
Not a overly stunning venue, right in the heart of Newmarket. Don’t really expect it to be though, and the food prices are cheap enough and the food is amazing enough for it all to just tie in really well.

This place proves that you cannot judge a place by its appearance. It's a shabby dining place, but food is fabulous!

We ordered:
1. Chicken satay (starter) - flavourful; Peanutty!
2. Seafood laksa - humongous portion! The spice made me sweat towards the end. I found it a tad sweet though, due perhaps to the coconut cream.
3. Beef rendang nasi lemak - wife ate this and said it was comparable to the one in Papparich
4. Beef teriyaki - too salty for my son's liking. I tasted it though and it was fine by me.
5. Roti with chicken curry -my cousin had this. She recommended this place, so obviously she had no choice but to sing praises of her dish.

Paid 79 dollars for everything. Very reasonable.

Definitely would come back!

Selera does pretty good Malaysian food, particularly better than many others which tend to have the curries taste instant, which I'm quite sure is the case. They have many varieties on the menu that is really lovely to see. Not the best dining but it is the idea of 'kopitiam', it just gets busy that sometimes makes it not too appealing.

This place is an institution in Newmarket and for good reason! They are quick, efficient, authentic and tasty.

The laksa here is amazing, but this time went for roti with chicken curry. The roti was amazing warm and flaky and curry very rich with good spice. Find the bones a little hard in a curry but it’s worth it for the flavour.

Usually when we come by here we are on the way to another restaurant or its just been a case of no tables available....so just walk on by.  I had heard it was popular so the mass of customers was to be expected.  Anyway this time we did manage to squeeze into a table inside, though there was a few available outside. The welcome is friendly enough and the atmosphere good.  From the decent choice on the menu i chose the Mummy Chicken with Rice , my other half chose the Wong's Spare Ribs with Black Pepper. You have to order then pay before your order is given to the kitchen.  Water and tea is self service by the counter.  Our order came out pretty quickly and we were not disappointed. My chicken with the mummy sauce was so delicious( actually reminded me of a dish i had once in a little nothing flash but very popular restaurant in Shanghai .....which was a good dining experience ) The whole dish was cooked so well and i could have eaten a lot more. My other half enjoyed her ribs too and i tried some and was equally impressed. Overall,  service good; food great; atmosphere good ; but the price maybe a little bit much....but still would return!!

Stopped by for late lunch around 1:30 and it wasn't too busy. It is normally packed. You can get a table and a menu and then you head up to order and pay when you're ready.
You can generally get most things on the menu and not be disappointed, although food envy is quite common. My general go to is the char kuay tiew. The noodles are nice and chewy and the flavours are just amazing. Portions are better than I remember.
Cheapish tasty food so a nice place to stop by for lunch.

One of Newmarket's best treasures! It's basically an institution. Everything on the menu is a must try. The only downside is the fact that they can't take bookings and it can also get very noisy. Be early to avoid the queue.

Having heard great things about Selera, I came with pretty high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed. Laksa was creamy and flavourful - my favourite item on the menu so far. Because it's so rich, it can become a struggle to finish the whole bowl by the end. Rendang was among the most tender I have ever had, however we felt the other components of the nasi lemak was just so-so overall. Char kuay teow was pretty good, but lacked punch. Lor bak was much too sweet for my taste and looked burnt. Kon low mee had very lightly crispy wontons and the noodles and pork was okay.

Also, one day they were very busy and got my order mixed up - gave me chicken instead of seafood laksa. I was starving so I didn't notice it was chicken until dug into it and couldn't be bothered to have them take it away. They noticed eventually, and brought a bowl of seafood laksa over to my table which I awkwardly refused because I had almost finished my nevertheless delicious chicken laksa. Hot tea and water provided for self-service. Great value and tasty overall, but I almost always come here just for the laksa to be honest.

We got the fish collar soup and the mi goreng. The portion of the soup is insane! Definitely enough to feed two people. The broth along with the texture of the fish that has been deep fried and then put back in the broth developed great depth of flavours. I requested for mild mi goreng that was really enjoyable however the downside is the portion. For $15 it's not good value for money at all. I also glanced around at other diners and could see portion size is lacking with other dishes such as their fried rice. So if you are very hungry, I would recommend ordering any of their noodle soup dishes.

The look of the restaurant caught me off guard at first, but there's a saying that the more rundown places usually have the best food and that definitely applies to Selera.

It was very busy when we came and while there was a wait to line up to order, the Laksa came out very quickly considering how packed the restaurant was. The flavour was amazing and the portions are so large I almost couldn't finish it, great for those with a big appetite. Would definitely recommend!

This is my favorite Malaysian place. If you dine in I cannot think of a negative. But if you do plan on buying the take away dishes, especially the ones which are priced higher (without rice, idea being you get more of the meat/veg/dish), the quantity will surely disappoint.

The nicest and authentic Malaysia food I had in Auckland. Me and my partner's favorite is their Fish Coller Noodles. It is a must order dish everytime we came here. Also highly recommend their Nasi Lemak and Curry Puff. Although it is inconvenient to park and hard to get a place during dining hour but we still come back. Their staff are very friendly and polite Malaysians.

I enjoy the flavours from Selera. Although some might argue the authenticity of flavours in some of the dishes, I think the dishes are as Malaysian Chinese as it can get.

The service levels however is a different thing - they're always too busy to serve you properly, and can be a little abrupt and dismissive sometimes.

If you're looking for good food, this will do the job, but be prepared for the lack of service finesse here.

Place gets really really busy during peak dining hours.
Quick service. Self service for tea and water.
Parking is difficult near the restaurant.

Top picks from the menu:
Nasi lemak. Great flavours and good portion size.
Fish collar noodle soup. Generous portion and the soup is soooooo good
Hainanese chicken. Love the rice and the sauces.

Visited in 2014 and found it a bit pricey given the portion sizes – but the quality of food was pretty good.

My butter fillet fish was nice; an acceptable level of spiciness (but only 2 cucumber slices for veges). My friend's Wat Tan Hor had a decent amount of seafood.

I remember the tables being small and the restaurant feeling crowded, but service was fine.

I'd be happy to try this place again.

For start I got stair fried round bean and bok choy.
Enough for two people.
For main orders beef rengdan and chicken cashew nut.
Beef rengdan was amazingly cooked and spicy enough too.
It was a second best I ever had.(and first one were my mother in law cooked).
Chicken cashew it came up with a lot of cashew nuts and fresh cooked vegetable and enough chicken ,perfect combination and tasty.
Customer service were pretty good too.
We had our food under 10min at the very busy time.
Well done guys.

An interesting place if you're in the area and crave some Malaysian food. We were greeted right away and given a table. The menu has quite a lot of choices and once you ordered you're directed to pay first before they start making it. I had the laksa and my friend had the beef rendang. The laksa tasted good but the sauce was a bit sweet for my taste. Portion was good. I am so so with yellow noodles in my laksa. I'd rather have vermicelli. All in all this isn't a bad place if you want some Malaysian food. The price is a bit on the high end. Nothing below 10nzd unless you're looking at starters.

I have been to this restaurant many times especially when I am craving for chicken laksa.  In my opinion,  their laksa is one of the good ones so far.  We tried different meals such as mami chicken, satay chicken, pandan chicken, lobak, Mee Goreng, Nyonya fried rice, dirty rice, Malaysian fried rice, beef rendang,  king prawn with oat, mixed vegetables  and salt & pepper squid. They were all very delicious however, I've noticed the consistency in saltiness sometimes vary.

You need to be prepared with cash and EFTPOS payments only.  They don't accept credit cards and just like a takeaway shop you need to pay in advance right after ordering.

The place is small and is very popular, you need to wait quite some time to get yourself a table especially during peak hours.  Don't worry this is compensated with fast and good service.

One of the best cheap and cheerful restaurants in Auckland - this small and casual restaurant is in the Metro Top 50 Cheap Eats and it's easy to see why.

Selera is always busy and tonight was no exception. We were lucky as it only took us two minutes to get a table. A couple of "how to" eat at Selera tips: 1. You have to order and pay at the counter before you eat, 2. Tables are often a little sticky and 3. Table tissues are 1 ply at best so if you order something spicy you're going to need a few of those.

Chicken laksa was delicious as always (best in Auckland), good amounts of chicken and delicious fried tofu. Roti is a great addition to dip into that delicious laksa sauce and wok fried green beans were yum. We ordered way too much food and had to pay $0.50c for a takeaway container. Everything's is super cheap - $60 for way too much food!

As I said, Auckland's best Laksa can be found here - definitely worth a visit.

One of Auckland's many Malaysian eateries, Selera probably ranks in the top 5 in terms of authenticity, price and taste in my opinion. Although prices are quite steep ( ranging from $15 to $20 for individual noodles/rice dishes), the food is gooood AND the best part is that they serve sambal ;D

What I've tried:Seafood Laksa (9/10) : Probably the best laksa you'll find in Auckland. The laksas here have the right level of spice and are served in generous portions ( 1 shared between two was the perfect amount for me). If you're a laksa fan, I'd definitely reccomend Selera's!

Carrot Cake(9.5/10):  My ultimate favourite dish here although this dish is frequently sold out over the weeknd. They apparently only prepare this on Fridays, so if you wanna try it out I suggest going on a Fri or a Saturday to not be disappointed.  Similar tasting and cooking style to Char Kway Teow, but instead of noodles it's served with cubes of pan fried turnip cakes; a must try!

Mee Goreng (8/10) : Surprisingly extremely tasty and also a generous portion size. This also comes with large prawns :D Would reccomend too.

Lobak(5/10): The most disappointing item on the menu I've tried here. Although it looked amazing when it came out, I found it to be lacking in taste and too be too oily for my liking.

Overall, Selera is a cheap and fast place to grab a quick meal either at dinner or lunch. The service is good and most of their dishes are delicious :)

Must try: Carrot Cake ( restocked on Fridays)

Came here around 3pm, not your usual lunch hour but this place was still busy ! We were seated quickly but took them forever at the counter to process everyone's order . They should probably consider a more efficient system .

Our food arrived within reasonable amount of time, We had the beef Rendang and Malaysian chicken curry with rice .

Both dishes had strong flavours, I really liked my beef Rendang it literally melted in my mouth the only down side was the saltiness of the dish, maybe it's a Malaysian thing ?

My partner in crime throughly enjoyed his chicken curry too, the meat fell off the bone when picked up and the curry sauce was authentic and had a suitable level of creaminess . Compare to other restaurants there was a good amount of chicken pieces whereas others were mostly dominated by the about of sauce received . Overall a satisfying hearty curry to be had again .

For sides, the Crispy Tofu comes with sweet chilli sauce and shredded cucumber. So refreshing. Their Loh Bak roll is a must too; and comes with my favour Sriracha chilli. This place is super busy - which is always a good sign. We were lucky enough to get a table for 2 on a busy Saturday afternoon.
I really felt like a hearty bowl of chicken Laksa and of course ordered that, we also ordered the Kon Low Mee - I have never seen this noodle dish before but it looked very interesting.
I had never tried Lobak and didn't know what it was, I asked a staff member who explained it was kind of like a sausage but kind of not.... love it! We of course ordered it!
The laksa was delicious - the soup base is full of flavour, I was hoping for chicken on the bone but unfortunately they cook chicken breast and pull it. Don't get me wrong it was still tasty. The Kon Low Mee is a noodle dish that comes with a deep fried wonton-type skin and bbq style pork and sauce, it was really tasty and I thought the deep fried pastry added a nice texture to the dish. The Lobak was kind of like a sausage, it came with a chili type of sauce and was delicious. I will be back!

Catching up with an old friend in New Market, we dined at Selera after noticing how packed the place was.

I love Malaysian food however I have found that authentic tasting Malaysian food is quite rare. We had a laksa and beef rendang. The laksa bowl were enormous and had very generous portions, however I found the laksa to be a bit bland.

The beef rendang on the other hand was AWESOME. Really tasty, not too sweet but still full of flavour and the beef was super tender. Will definitely come back for the beef.

One of my favourite malaysian restaurants to go to, for lunch or dinner. I come here quite often and the food is always amazing. They have recently raised the prices, which is a little disappointing but I guess they need to keep up with the world.

The portions are huge whether you're ordering single dishes or shared dishes - you definitely get your moneys worth.

The restaurant however does get extremely busy during dinner time and it can be hard getting a table. The staff are also rushing around, can be slightly rude/ blunt but I don't care too much because the foods amazing.

One of my favourite dishes is the Butter King Prawn. You can choose to get it with or without shell, I like to get it with shell. They give about six decent sized prawns.

Selera is our go to place whenever we're craving for Malaysian food. We always order their Seafood Laksa as for us this is the best laksa in town. It is spicy with a hint of sweetness and definitely full of flavour. The serving size is generous as well - can be shared by two if you're not too hungry. Another favorite would be their Chicken Curry w/ Roti. The crispy roti goes really well with the flavour of the curry. Their Dirty Rice w/ Breaded Chicken is also good although a bit overpriced in my opinion. I like the sweetness of the rice as it matches with the chicken but I would suggest adding more pieces of chicken would be better. The tofu w/ sweet & sour sauce is also a nice entree if you're looking for a vegetarian option.

Overall, I would say Selera is one of the best Malaysian restaurants in town. Would definitely visit them again when I need my Malaysian fix!

This place always seems to be busy! Specially during lunch times, not one I'd recommend for groups unfortunately as the table size space isn't very generous. The decor is simple and so is the service. Help yourself to tea and water and for first timers - remember to pay after you order. The food is served promptly which is great considering how many people come through.

We ordered the mixed vegetables ($22) and the crispy tofu ($8), the chefs weren't very compromising as we asked for tofu to be added to the vegetable dish but they said they couldn't do it. Both dishes were tasty! However based on the dishes we ordered they were what I'd consider expensive for the portion size compared to other Malaysian places that we've dined at.

Fortunately we managed to find a carpark right outside but often it can be a bit tricky! You'd be best to find a carpark around the back on teed st.

Best laksa in auckland!

Selera is ever so popular its always packed and have to wait to get a table ;)

The laksa is amazing, rich full of flavour fragrant and addictive! Hainan chicken is so tasty and tender, perfect with chilli sauce and the chicken rice is so flavoursome.
Love the chicken salad and the chicken satay entrees

Oh my!! I have been waiting to come to this place for a long time but it was always busy. Luckily I went there today for early dinner (around 5.30pm) and the place was pretty empty but when I left around 6ish, the place just packed like normal again :)

I experienced my first time here with simple Malaysian dishes; Laksa and Roti Canai with Curry Chicken.

Laksa was absolutely spot on!!! It was so tasty! full of flavors. And it came in REALLY BIG bowl! I had seafood laksa, it had couple prawns, couple squid and few fish balls. It's become my favorite laksa in Auckland for sure :)

Roti Canai with curry chicken, it doesn't look appealing but mannn the taste was 'so damn good!!'. It was creamy, tasty, not too much spices but still can taste the Indian spices. It's so hard to explain how good it was, you have to try it yourself ;)

I will definitely go back there and try other Malaysian dishes. The service was really good and the place is nice and clean. I love the menu with pictures. Highly recommend to everyone!

2nd visit - 5 days after first one :P
This time I went on Friday night and the place was so busy like it should be. Luckily I got the table within 10mins. I tried Pandan Chicken which was bigger than what I thought it would be. It wasn't like what I expected. I had Thai style pandan chicken which is chicken pieces wrapped in pandan leaves and fried them but here they are chicken wings which tiny pieces of panda leaves wrapping around. Anyway the chicken marinated in some curry paste or some spices and it was good. The sweet chilli sauce that came with was nice, not just normal, too sweet of sweet chilli sauce.

I also had nasi lemak with beef rendang. The rice was nice, it was just plain rice. I think they cooked rice in broth or coconut milk (I'm not really sure) It was really good. And the beef rendang....ohhhhh it just melted in your mouth!! So goooood. I really like this dish. Selera...you made me happy again :)

Laksa versus laksa week :)

Being a fan of this coconut based curry soup, whenever I venture to a Malaysian place, this is always my first meal of choice.

This is a popular eatery, where there is no fuss on décor or service. You get what you order, and I’m perfectly happy with that approach for my $15 seafood laksa.

Soup stock is tasty, fragrant and full of nice textures such as fried shallots, bean sprouts etc. The actually seafood selection is always above average and of good quality compared to other places. The noodles are tasty, not too slippery to handle and well cooked. Portion sizes generous, and what I do love the most about this place, is when you get the token half boiled egg with your bowl, it is indeed warm, not fridge cold.

Definitely worth a trip to newmarket for lunch.

Best laksa I have tried in Auckland!!! Unfortunately the prices have gone up last few years and the portion sizes have gotten smaller but the quality of the food remains high! The service is acceptable but unfortunately i tend to avoid the place these days because it is just to packed and busy! They definitely need to move into a bigger venue!

Just went to Selera tonight, an average Monday. The place was just over half full and we got menus brought to us straight away. From the pictures on the menu everything looked so good but was in the mood for noodles so ordered the Char Kueh Tiaw, flat noodles with chicken, prawn and Chinese sausage. The food was brought out super quick which was great. I loved that it was piping hot, fresh from the wok with the egg still cooking. The portion size was perfect, enough that you were full but not enough that you would over it. It was a bit lacking on the chicken and prawns and the Chinese sausage had a really strange taste. The flavoring had a nice amount of spice but was too salty for my usual liking.
For someone that hasn't eaten much Malaysian food, I'm willing to give Selera another go but will have to try something else on the menu.

I once went on a mission to find Auckland's best Laksa, as a friend in hospital said that's what she felt like. After a few good online reviews, I headed to Selera, and I nailed it! I truly found Auckland's best.

I now have no idea why I haven't heard about Selera before! Operated by a Malaysian family, you can't get any more authentic than this, and it shows in the flavours of the dishes (and the way the menu reads).

The small restaurant is always busy. The food is always fresh with the vegetables crisp.

My new regular for take aways and a casual lunch or dinner.

Absolutely love the food here, it's a great cheap eat. But the service pretty much doesn't exist. I've been here a lot and quite a few times they have stuffed up our order and forgot to cook one of our dishes so one person will have already finished their food while the other hasn't even gotten their dish yet. A lot of the time you can see the dishes sitting at the front getting cold while the waiters just stand there away with the fairies. I would not come back here if it wasn't for the food

This is a very popular and busy Malaysian restaurant in Auckland. Though I've been here many times I've only tried the hawker style food here. The food here is on the pricier side compared to some of the other Malaysian places in Auckland.

Would personally recommend the Hainan chicken rice (the chicken is cooked to perfection) and fried carrot (radish) cake (not easy to find elsewhere in Auckland and often sells out so go early!).

Went to Selera for the first time for for dinner with my wife and my cousin. The staff were friendly and their service was Ok. We ordered the vege laksa, roties and some noodles. The food came out very and the portion size was massive for the amount of money we paid and the food was really delicious! (What else can you ask for!!) Especially laksa was the best. They really know hoe to balanced different flavours and make food super flavoursome.
The only negative thing about their service was that we had to wait long time too find our table and the staff refuse to book a table for us and ask us to keep an eye on the tables where people are about to finished with their meal which was kinda unusual.

But our experience was great! And I will surely go there again!

From reading the previous reviews, I had very high expectations from Selera. Upon walking in I was satisfied - the place was acquaint and vibrant. I ordered the Chicken Laksa, which lived up to my expectations and was very flavorful, though a little bit too salty. However my rating must be brought down due to the fact that I was served mildly warm tea and the fact that even though the food is already a bit more towards the expensive side, they still charge you for takeaway boxes.

I've been a couple of times, but it's been a couple of years since I've last been as the restaurant is always full. The staff are friendly and the food is very quick to come out, making it a fast and convenient place for lunch. The portions are decently-sized despite the prices being a bit higher than your average Malaysian restaurant, but the food makes up for it.

One way to distinguish how good a Malaysian restaurant is, is by the taste and quality of their fish head noodle soup. Sneakily renamed fish collar noodle soup at Selera, any Malaysian cuisine snob will know what they mean, and this one did not disappoint. We also had char kuey tiao, which had good toppings and huge prawns, and a chicken laksa, as most of the tables with a party of more than one had at least one of these. Though just a tad on the salty side, the laksa was excellent, making it a very good and filling lunch.

Selera has excellent Malaysian food for relatively good prices, but go early to avoid the lunch rush! You won't regret it.

I have to say, the famed Selera made me come away with mixed feelings - on one hand, the bustling establishment yet uncharacterful service makes the first impression a tad wary. The other, the laksa produced here truly is world class. Supremely balanced, not too hot and not too strong (there's a fine line between spicy and just explosive) it complements the noodles perfectly. I suppose really, that's what made Selera famous and kudos for maintaining the standard set many moons ago. If only the rest of the menu and their service staff could match the aura cast by the chefs.

Its me again ordering Char Kwai Teow!! It's very yummy. but I think I'll properly get sick of it because I've been eating char kway teow in every single Malaysian restaurant. The ingredients are very fresh especially the prawn. The textures Itself are very springy and firm. Spicy enough to give extra point for the dish. It's definitely worth to wait for 20 minutes to get the seat. :)

Second time ordered Fish noodle soup, delicious as usual, but i will prefer rice noodle (smooth one) rather than rice vermicelli. Portion is huge would be just enough for 2 people.

well. but it still can't bit the best Malaysian restaurant in New Lynn, think its the crispy pork fat made a lot of contribution to remain the no1 of Char kway teow in my heart.

Good variety of Malaysian food. Not a very big fan of laksa but the laksa here is really nice, pretty much like the specialty dish.
The servings are generous and the food is brought out fairly quickly so its definitely a good place to visit if you are strapped for time.

Another plus point is that they have 2 serving sizes, the normal and full serving just in case you are really really hungry

The back story: A humble yet cheerful little shop on the corner of Khyber pass and Osborne street, Selera has been a place of happy food moments for me and good company countless times. I first tried Selera 4 years ago - and have been going back regularly ever since.

Food: The food is authentically Malaysian - flavoursome, generous in serving sizes and assorted in variety from your tradition mee goreng and laksa to less well known, but no less traditional oat crumbed prawns and mummy chicken. I have tried many dishes here and everything has been so good, it's difficult to fault. My personal go-to is their chicken laksa - not too heavy on the coconut with just the right amount of spice, it oozes flavour the moment you take the first spoon in your mouth. Crunchy bean sprouts liven up the dish with half a boiled egg soaking up the soup as a bonus vehicle for taste delivery. If you're wanting something more substantial, I would recommend the dirty rice - crunchy fried chicken on egg fried rice - again done well, without the excess fattiness that other fried chicken may carry. If you have guests a want something special, the oat prawns are worth trying. Sounds doubtful at first - but this combo really works with crunch and the special sweet-salt flavour of the nestum oat. This cereal is not something you can get locally and has a distinct flavour akin to horlicks and malt. Different but very yummy and very Malay ! They provide free tea and water too from big jugs - also very typical of Asian food places, adding that authentic touch. The only downside I can think of of their dishes is the mee goreng which I find a bit too sweet and heavy on the tomato. At $15 for mains it is a relatively cheap eat though for generally good and generous servings of food.

Setting : The decor here is simple - though the outside tables with animal print spice things up a bit. Simple pictures line one wall but otherwise there isn't much - but like the street stalls or side tea houses you get in Asia, the decor reflects this. They even have pull out tissues and plastic chopsticks in a holder to complete the setting.

They also have a pay before you eat policy when ordering too - so something to be aware of as it's a little different to most food places, but does make things more efficient when you can just leave at the meal end.

Occasion: Casual cheap eat out, for small groups but difficult for big groups due to restaurant size.

Revisit potential : 10/10

Dinner for $17? Yes please!!!

After reading consistently great reviews about Selera, my sister and I finally decided to try it out, as it is also close to the cinemas on Broadway.

Selera is a very casual eatery, serving no alcohol and you order at the counter, despite been given menus when you sit down. At first, this was weird and confusing for us, but the food made up for it!

I ordered the Beef Rendang ($14) and Coconut Rice ($3). I had never tried coconut rice before, but a friend had recommended it, so I just knew I had to try it! The Beef Rendang – wow, what a huge portion! It was incredibly tasty – full of flavour with just the right amount of spice and the best thing about it was that I had it for lunch the next day! The coconut rice was just as delicious - highly recommend!!!

My sister ordered the Kon Low Mee ($13.50) consisting of pork, noodles and a yummy sauce. It was also a huge portion and bursting with flavour. She had enough for leftovers the next day too!

We visited again a few weekends’ ago and while I wanted to be a bit more adventurous, I couldn’t go past ordering the Beef Rendang and Coconut Rice combo that I enjoyed so much the first time. My sister however went with the fried rice with prawns (so good) and guess what!? – we both had leftovers for the next day! We also ordered a side of their Fried Buns (6 pieces for $7) for dessert – served with a condensed milk and sweet puree sauce. Perfect way to end the night!

As well as serving tasty meals, they also have a ‘help yourself’ tea station. Jugs of hot tea to accompany your meal and you can have as many cups of it as you like. Canned cold drinks (some don’t have English names which we tried) and a water cooler are also available.

Service both times has been quick and efficient and you do not have to wait long for your meals. There is always a short wait for a table (you cannot book), but I ensure you that once you try a meal at Selera’s, waiting for a table won’t even matter.

Selera is just how Malaysian food should be - hot, crowded, plentiful and good value. The bowls of noodles are large, dishes flavoursome and if the crowds are anything to go by, extremely popular!

We dined here recently sharing the seafood laksa, fish head noodles and chicken curry roti chanai. The laksa was spicy and full of sea food pieces in a rich curry soup with thick egg noodles. The fish head noodles had a milky and gingery luscious soup that was soaked up by thick rice vermicelli. The chicken curry packed some heat but the gravy was perfect for mopping up the the roti chanai. These dishes were ideal for the unbelievable early cold snap that has recently hit Auckland.

There is serve yourself water and tea. Orders are taken at the counter and paid before the dishes are rapidly brought out to your table. If you can't wait, take away is available. Definitely give this place a try if you are wanting a little taste of Malaysian cuisine.

My family and I came to Selera for lunch on Sunday because the yum cha up the road had a long wait. I had heard good things about Selera and when we walked past them, they were packed (a good sign) but we were able to secure a table without a booking and without having to queue.

An informal cafe setting rather than a formal restaurant, the service is good but casual. Timing was fine considering how busy they were. Tea and water is on a help yourself basis and if you like to share (like we do), you can get small bowls to eat from.

Decor is ordinary and unfussy, the dining area isn’t big and a little cramped, though they have tables outside which extends their dining area.

The menu is quite big but has photos to help identify each dish. The chili symbol is handy for those that enjoy heat or want to avoid it. We ordered four dishes to share and these just happened to be four iconic Malaysian dishes: Char Kuey Tiaw, Chicken Curry with roti, Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang, Hainanese Chicken Rice.

All four dishes were delicious. The chicken curry was larger than expected and the noodle dish was smaller than expected. The spicy dishes (marked with a chili icon on the menu) packed a little heat but were not overwhelmingly hot. I like only a mild amount of heat and I found all the dishes were at good level for me. For those that like it hot, you might want to request more chili.

My favourite dish was the beef rendang. It had great flavour with aromatic spices and a super tender “pulled pork” texture rather than the chunky (sometimes chewy) pieces I’ve had in the past. Char Kuey Tiaw, can often be too oily but this was very good. We just wish there was a touch more of it. I couldn’t fault the Hainanese chicken rice, though I prefer a chunky chili sauce rather their smooth version. They do not serve this dish with broth/soup on the side. The chicken curry was delicious and you get two pieces of roti which is generous. The only thing is the chicken pieces (bone in) are large making it a bit cumbersome to eat. Smaller pieces would be better.

The food was authentic and even the dining setting experience was pretty authentic. The dishes we ordered were $13-$14.50 each, good value for the quality of food. I can see why they are so popular. Happy to come back for a casual meal and to try their Laksa. Groups should book.

Try their fantastic king prawns , the are succulent and devine, my personal favourite is the sambal king prawns. The nasi lemak is flavouful and packs the right punch. Would be a fantastic place to go as a group, but you would need to make reservations as it does get busy or with that special someone for a fuss free night out.

After seeing some good reviews I decided it was a good time to check out Selera with my mum! It was super full when we arrived but luckily a table became free very quickly.
We ordered the Nasi Lemak beef rendang, Char Kueh Tiaw, and curry puffs. Everything came out quite fast. The Nasi Lemak and Char Kueh Tiaw were both soooo tasty and full of flavour. Two different dishes that went really well together! The curry puffs were also a good compliment to the meal.
Overall it was a really good experience. The service was okay, the food came quickly and was delicious, and it was reasonably priced... Not much else you could ask for! Would 100% recommend this place to try!

A hidden treasure in Newmarket, this restaurant appears humble but has got some of the best food in (arguably) the entire Newmarket area. The staff are fast and efficient, and the food does not take very long for a restaurant that is almost always full. The portions are large and definitely worth the price - which as an added bonus, is quite cheap and tastes amazing! Would definitely come back.

I absolutely love Selera!
My mother has been coming here for a few years  now, and I just cannot get enough!
The decor is very minimal but i love the ambiance.
They also offer free hot tea which is great!
The waiter John has the best service skills and always approaches you with a smile! He is very attentive and always ensures that you have a great experience.

We have tried the seafood laksa, nasi lemak with chicken curry, assam fish, butter fish, and just recently the chicken noodle soup. I have enjoyed all the dishes but i think my favourite would have to be the seafood laksa and nasi lemak with chicken curry! Their rotis are also very nice to eat with the chicken curry. Every new dish we try turns out to be great and we will be returning for a long time :)

This humble-looking eatery is run by first-generation immigrants from Malaysia, and they serve up wonderfully authentic, delicious Malaysian food. The decor is simple enough, as is typical of cheap Asian eateries, though thankfully they have given the characteristic fluorescent lighting a miss. The place is warmly-lit, with wooden paneling and flooring, imparting a rather cosy feel. The waiters are very efficient, and typically don’t keep you waiting long.

We have been here countless times, and in fact this is our go-to place when meeting up with fellow Malaysians from out of town. Needless to say, we’ve tried a wide range of their dishes, though their nasi lemak with beef rendang, hainan chicken rice, chicken hor fun and seafood laksa are my favourites. You can choose either individual dishes such as those I mentioned, or a variety of mains to share, with rice on the side. We rarely get the mains unless we are here with a larger group, and in my opinion the individual dishes are better. As a matter of fact, their beef rendang exceeds most of the ones I’ve had in Malaysia itself – beef in Malaysia is typically tough and bristly unless you get the expensive imported variety, whereas Selera has the advantage of New Zealand beef. The beef is tender and juicy, the rendang sauce full of spicy coconutty goodness.

The only dish we’ve found to be a disappointment so far was their roti canai. It tasted like the pre-packaged supermarket variety – Mamak on Chancery has much better roti canai. Despite that, though, Selera is probably the best all-round Malaysian restaurant near the CBD, though Blossom Court in Panmure gives them a run for their money, for the folks living out east.

Selera is one of the more famous Malaysian restuarants in Auckland. The restaurant is not large, and was already full when we arrived. Luckily, we managed to snag a table after a couple of minutes and quickly ordered a few dishes before heading to the counter to pay. It feels odd to sit down and then pay before receiving your dishes, but I get that logic. We ordered the Acar Awak, which is Malaysian Nyonya-style pickled spicy vegetables. These were unlike anything I had ever had. I love pickled vegetables, and this one tops my list. Its hard to describe- I kept getting surprised every time I took a bite because it was just unexpected? The slightly spicy (laksa/ sambal-flavoured sort of spicy) vegetables retained their slightly crunchy texture which was just sublime with the sprinkling of peanuts on top. I wasn't a fan of the chicken salad but that might be a personal preference kind of thing. All their dishes looked really good from what I eyed up on neighbouring tables. Can't wait to come back to try other dishes here! Their laksa is also huge- definitely a dish to share between 2 or 3 people.

I would highly recommend the Mee Goreng- we couldnt get enough of it, and DO NOT miss out on the Acar Awak!! It's a must try for sure. The dishes tend to be quite sweet though.

The best Malaysian place in Auckland. I've been there many times and every time I try to order something I haven't tried before. Always successful as everything is delicious there. This is a great little place, which I frequently come back to. Selera is often pretty busy and has a good range of tasty dishes. Its a shame I don't work close by now as the lunch specials are great.

The Chicken Laksa here would be my favourite in NZ, it isn't the most traditional with shredded chicken but I actually prefer that as its easier to eat without bones. The flavour is just great and if you don't come earlier during lunch or dinner it can sell out, as this is a popular dish.

I also am quite fond of the Hainan chicken, the rice is actually cooked with chicken stock. The only thing is I would have liked to have a bowl of chicken soup with it like you often get in Malaysian.

My partner and I eat here weekly or at the very most fortnightly and find it hard to try other restaurants when we know the food here is so ridiculously good! The place is always packed and it's unusual to get a table immediately, although the wait is never longer than 5 mins. We have slowly tried a lot of the menu and have never been disappointed - favourites are the beef rendang, salt and pepper chicken - which is fried with chilli, garlic, onion and thai basil and served on lettuce leaves for wrapping up all the yumness, curry chicken (with roti - OMG, roti is sooo good!) and char kuay teow. Laksa's, mummy chicken, hainan chicken and lamb curry are also yum!

Great food + better prices. The Chicken Laksa is indeed amazing - lovely balance of spices and a huge size. The Chao Kuay Teow is perfectly edging on charred, with a nice smoky flavour of Chinese sausage, egg and mung beans. The Beef Rendang is so good, fabulous flavours. The Wonton Soup is also really great - warming and a good salty chicken flavour.

I didn’t appreciate the eggs they put in the soup but enjoyed all it’s other elements. Bit of a let down with the roti as it was extremely dry. Meals weren’t brought out together so there was a little bit of a wait but not too bad. This place it pretty small and very popular so you are lucky if you get a seat straight away. The 4.5 is for their Hainanese chicken rice! - the best we have tasted in Auckland so far.

It’s great that Selera serves the Hainanese chicken and the chicken rice on separate plates, you can taste the flavour of the chicken and the rice separately. The chicken itself is tender, the pieces are just the right size, the skin of the chicken is clean and the chicken sits on some sauce (that’s probably mainly composed of light soy sauce) and bean sprouts and topped with some green garnishes with a few thinly sliced cucumber and a small dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is chilli sauce with some lime juice in it, giving the tongue a spicy yet fresh kick. The chicken isn’t greasy at all (like some other restaurants) and the flavour continues to expand in the mouth wonderfully.

Selera also has other good dishes such as their curry laksa – it’s great for winter especially when you are coming down with a cold. The spicyness is just right, it is spicy but not to the stage where it is so overpowering that you can’t taste the flavour of the laksa.

Our other favourites are the Mummy Chicken and the Butter Fish On Rice. They are very different but both are delicious. :)

This little eatery is very busy so it’s always good to reserve/go there earlier during lunch. They also provide hot tea/water which you can self-service. Service is not particularly warm and welcoming but given the place is always so busy, I think the service is adequate.

We are sure you'll want to read more about it at our blog: http://foodcriticsanonymous.wordpress.com/2014/06/12/hainanese-chicken-rice-at-selera/

I've been to Selera three times now (once for dinner and twice for lunch) and had something different each time. All of the items have been super tasty and very well priced for what you get. The fare is typical malaysian. I find it a little weird that you order your meal from someone coming over to your table and then you get up and go and pay at the counter straight away rather than at the end of your meal, or just ordering at the counter - but not really a big deal.

The chicken curry is REALLY hot - which it does warn you on one side of the menu, but not the other side (at the time I visited anyway), but still really tasty. The mummy chicken is highly recommended!

Meals were around $15 each from memory which is pretty good.

One of our favourite eateries, serving cheap and authentic Malaysian food. They make you pay in advance these days, but don't let that put you off.

Their laksa is not only delicious, but also comes in enormous bowls, so we sometimes see two people sharing one. I had been craving Malaysian food all week so decided to go to Selera for an early, mid-week dinner. I arrived at around 5.30 and the place quickly filled up. Between the three of us we ordered the Spring Rolls ($5.50), Vegetable Laksa ($14), Beef Rendang ($14) and Mee Goreng ($13). The Spring Rolls arrived very quickly, and smelt wonderful. Nice and crunchy without being too greasy and they had a good mix of vegetables, not just full of carrot. The photo does not do the size of the Laksa justice, it was HUGE. Three of us tried our hardest but were unable to finish it. The Laksa was delicious, it was lovely and creamy without being too heavy and had excellent flavour and heat. It was filled to the brim with crunchy vegetables, tofu, noodles and my personal favourite, half a boiled egg. The Beef Rendang was not as dry as I am used to but this worked in its favour as I chose to have with roti instead of rice and it was ideal to mop up the extra sauce with the roti. It wasn’t too spicy (on the mild side even) but still had a lovely mix of spice flavours. The Mee Goreng was very tasty and had the perfect amount of sauce so the noodles weren’t too dry. The roti was unbelievably good, light, flaky and delicious and only $2.50 apiece. I look forward to going back and trying more of their menu.

A good laksa is hard to find. So when I ordered at Selera it was with some trepidation. It was a Sunday lunchtime and busy busy busy, with tables covered in exotic looking food. The laksa when it came was simply enormous. Fortunately it was not a case of quantity substituting for quality. My palette had the pleasure of savouring the magic of Malaysian cuisine at this humble yet wonderful restaurant, where the star of the show was unequivocally the Fried Noodles Char Kueh Teow. The rich culinary heritage of Malaysia unraveled on my plate as I bit into the beautifully wok-fried flat rice noodles. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavor, brimming with the robust savoury, subtly sweet, and tantalizing spicy notes. The sheer delight of tasting the flat noodles, perfectly cooked with the ideal 'wok hei' or breath of the wok, was heightened by the thoughtful balance of spices that didn't overpower but rather enhanced the inherent flavour of the dish. The Char Kueh Teow wasn't just about the noodles though. Generous portions of succulent prawns, tender slices of Chinese sausage, and plump cockles all came together to create a delightful texture that made each bite more memorable than the last. The subtle smokiness of the dish was perfectly offset by the crisp bean sprouts and the delicate, aromatic chives, adding an exciting dimension to the dish. What I truly appreciated was the attention to detail - the omelette was perfectly scrambled and lent a unique creaminess that intertwined flawlessly with the spicy, savory, and subtly sweet elements. The garnish of fresh lime on the side was a masterstroke, its tanginess giving a refreshing lift to the overall experience. The ambiance of the restaurant complements the food beautifully. A tasteful blend of traditional and contemporary decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. And of course, the staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about sharing their culinary heritage, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It's rare to find a place that delivers such authenticity with a touch of elegance. The Fried Noodles Char Kueh Teow at this restaurant has truly been a revelatory experience - a testimony to the diversity, complexity, and deliciousness of Malaysian cuisine. It's a dish and a restaurant I'd enthusiastically recommend to any food lover in a heartbeat!

Very busy Malaysian cafe that is defenitely more popular than justifiable. The food was good but not enough for a spot on my personal favourite restaurants in Auckland. The lovely worker at the cashier was very friendly and happy to ask the staff to make my order even though they were just about to go on break. • Hainan Chicken Rice [4.5/5] chicken was perfectly delicate and very juicy, lovely crunchy layer of bean sprouts underneath and two questionably dry and discoloured slices of cucumber. Personally, I think the flavour of the orange sauce did not mix well with the chicken • Original Fish Collar Noodle Soup [3.5/5] the soup was amazing and fragrant but the protein size was very small, an excessive proportion of bones • Char Kueh Tiaw [3/5] I can easily think of many places with much better rice noodle dishes, the flavour was just very dull and lacking

A bit pricey but have generous servings. They also have a store at the nearby Westfield but I prefer to eat at this place. Food is good most of the time and serving is fast. I would have to say though that I have better options hence the 4 star rating.
