If your looking for a fancy restaurant with a clean environment and good service this is not the place! But if you want to experience the real streets of Sichuan this place comes close to authentic as you can get. You can feel the soul within the food to the seating, it brings me back to my time in Sichuan. Was great!
BEST DUMPLINGS IN AUCKLAND! I am obsessed. The fried rice is incredible too - it’s really hard to live up to. I love trying each of the different flavoured noodles on their menu (dan dan is a staple) but fried rice and the dumplings in spicy sauce are a staple!
The food was absolutely amazing in this small but very popular restaurant with fast service. Highly recommended!
First time here & I ordered the noodle bowl with beef strips and pork and chives dumplings in spicy sauce both items with medium heat, & let me say the dumplings are amazing - its great when its freshly hot - I love how soft it was and how its homemade! The noodle soup however is a bit bland, overall 6.5/10
Love eden noodles!! So cheap and affordable and great if you want something quick and easy on the way into the city, i get the mild pork and chive dumplings in spicy sauce and would definitely recommend to try!
I love this place! Food is great but I wish the place was bigger, it gets a bit crowded.
Finally got to try this place out after reading all the hype about this place and to be honest it was kind of average. The noodles weren't spectacular but not terrible either and although I did enjoy the dumplings and the sauce it wasn't worth the wait and lack of seating area. Would definitely get the dumplings again though.
I'm a regular here and brought my mum one time to show her. She chatted to some of the staff and they told her 'we like your son' and gave her one of their staff hoodies with the logo for me - it really made my day!
I'm a huge fan of the dumplings in sour soup - the soup is addictive and has lovely crunchy pickled vegetables hiding at the bottom. Dumplings have a lovely chewy wrapper that is not gluggy like many dumplings. My top picks include the fresh bamboo shoots and the Chinese pickles - like a pink Sauerkraut but much fresher as well as the rice flour pork. Love watching the Dumpling Queen behind the counter working her magic. It's great to find a 'spicy' restaurant that actually delivers on heat. Love this place they deserve the hype!
The dumplings here are some of the best in Auckland and I don't say that lightly. Having tried numerous dominion road dumpling dives, I find myself being drawn back to the addictive dumplings in spicy sauce here. Truly hard to beat!
Been coming here for a few years, it's great to see them expanding. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly.
Even though the place is small, it still feels convenient. With all these, their price is nothing! It’s worth the experience
The best Sichuan noodle place in Auckland! My favorite has always been their pork mince dry noodle with pickled cabbage. Their pork and chives spicy dumplings never fail me!
if you are into noodles...must try this place. Not the best customer service but still worth it
Delicious cheap eats! It gets super busy so pays to time your visit but if you’re happy to wait it’s worth it.
Mainly focused on spicy food but there are some non-spicy dishes too. Chopped noodles are the best
Don’t normally rate many places a 5 but this is worth it
Best wontons and noodles in NZ. Strongly recommend dry spicy pepper wontons and Sichuan style noodles with special sauce. Their hand cut noodles are so good.
I go here weekly to get my noodle fix 🍜 the dan dan noodle with chopped noodles is my go to dish, and the dumplings are amazing as well
Very tasty spicy food. Had the seafood soup which was delicious. Downside was slow to get food and it wasn't the cleanest of restaurants. Pleasant though
Wow this was tasty food! Extremely moreish. I went myself and got both noodles and dumplings knowing that it would be far too much - but I couldn't stop eating and almost got through it all. Great first experience, will be back.
I've never given 5/5 I guess but this is the BEST MEAL I've had so far in Auckland.
The food will blow your mind if you are fond of tangy, spicy and flavourful Chinese food. The spice levels can get pretty insane but if you like that, this is the place to be!
The portion sizes are huge huge huge for the prices that are so affordable. If you buy a Large size meal, you can easily take 2 meals out of it.
I would recommend getting here early for any meal as it's a tiny tiny establishment which is always super busy and packed with people with a waiting almost evrytime you go there. It does have a quick turnaround time and is absolutely worth the wait. The ambience isn't really what you go here for. It's the food it's the flavour that will blow your mind off!
Being a vegetarian, there are plenty of food options available for us too! So don't shy away if you don't eat meat or seafood.
I only ever get this takeaway, way too noisy to sit in to eat. I would also come here more often if it wasn't so busy, the lines can be ridiculous and it's very disorganised to pick up your takeaway as you have to line up with everyone else who's ordering. Would recommend to call ahead of time to place your order and don't get there to late.
Aside from that the food is delicious and always hits the spot! The vegetarian noodle is in a soup-type broth that is so tasty. Would recommend.
This place is always crowded with Asians and foreigners. Love the noodles and dumplings. The spicy soup is delicious and it is worth the wait.
Eden Noodles Cafe is a cannot-miss place for anyone who like food, period. Get the Dan Dan Mian with hand-pulled noodles (蛋蛋手拉面) for a perfectly chewy, umptuious, indulgent bowl of deliciousness, and Zhong Shui Jiao spicy dumplings (钟水饺) for some crazy intense flavour bombs. Add a side of Fu Qi Fei Pian sliced organs (夫妻肺片) for some extra happiness.
Dan Dan Mian (蛋蛋手拉面): 9/10
Zhong Shui Jiao (钟水饺): 10/10
Fu Qi Fei Pian (夫妻肺片): 9/10
Wow this place is amazing! I come usually once a week and drive 30minutes to grab my favourite dumplings.
I can never fault this place the quality is always amazing. Recommend the dumplings in spicy sauce! The wait in queue is totally worth it 10/10
Amazing noodles, but beware the shop is really small and definitely lacks ambience. if you don’t mind then it’s worth it!
Must be one of the best cheap eats in Auckland !! Their dumplings ARE AMAZING!! I cannot believe we haven’t tried this place for all these years!!! Their prices are so reasonable , $13.5 for 20 dumplings!
We also tried the noodle, they are good but can not compare to the dumplings, honestly I will always go for the dumplings any day
However expect queue and wait for good food, you can always see the crowd outside of the tiny shop ( probably about 15-20 seats in the shop?) most people are getting takeaways and we waited for 30 mins in total to order and get the food , but definitely worth the wait if you like spicy dumplings!
It is really a small place with just a few tables but usually very busy. Sometimes there is a long queue. You need to order and pay at the counter first. You will be given a table if available. It not you have to wait for the table. The food was tasty and of a reasonable serving. Will definitely be back to try other flavours.
We have been driving by this place for a few years n always see the huge line and finally got the chance to try it . Food was amazing and the price was very reasonable. I can see why there is always a lineup at this store.. will definitely come back to try other items from the menu.
We came here tonight for dinner to check out what the hype was. We had:
1. Braised pork rib rice noodle soup
2. Braised ox tripes noodle soup
3. Won ton in spicy soup
Loved the won ton and the spicy soup, soooo yummm! Will definitely go back.
very yummy, always busy, big menu, lots of fun -recommended
Once you try these dumplings no others will ever compare! I recommend you call ahead and place your order to cut down waiting times and this place is always in high demand
Love the vegetarian dumplings in spicy sauce! Also a big fan of the cucumber salad. E18 (veg noodles in spicy sauce) is phenomenal. Would definitely revisit!
Finishing reading Shark Fin and Sichuan Pepper by Fuchsia, I am dying to have a Sichuan meal!! Dan Dan Mian is not bad, but sweeter than those I had in China. Zhong dumplings surprised me with the awesome sauce. And the spicy cold chicken as well. It made me want to take away the sauce.
Two Chinese girl sharing table with me kindly recommended spicy and sour noodles. I am considering to try that next time.
On my first visit to Eden Noodles I had a cold. My meal was a perfect tonic. Chicken soup with cabbage & plain pork & chive dumplings .absolutely delicious. My partner had the braised sliced beef noodle which was so hot it made him ‘cry’. Which was hilarious. Can’t wait to go back when I’m in the area.

Great food but be prepared to wait in line and squeeze between narrow spaces. Dining in this place is not for th faint hearted. But I can see why there are still queues. Best way to put it,cheap and good. Dumplings in spicy sauce were the ultimate comfort food on a chilly winter night, Dan dan noodles with cripy pork mince was homely and cucumber salad was refreshing. Food 4/5, ambience- what ambience?
Wow - the pork and chive spicy dumplings are amazing . I’ve been twice and got the dumplings both times. They are spicy so I only get medium 💕
Best dumpling in town! their signature dumpling in spicy sauce is a must try, if you bored with dumplings? go for their wonton, taste super yum! Their noodles also really good - Quick tip; do phone order for take away as their shop is tiny and there’s always a long lines (def worth the wait)
This is my go to place for Dan Dan Noodles and spicy/sour dumplings (spicy level: medium).
Atmosphere: 2/4
You will need to street park. The place cannot cater for any big group. It's not the most hygienic looking place. There's always a line, so it's best to takeaway, but if you want to eat at the place I recommend going to their Albany branch.
Food: 4/4
If you are there for the first time, I recommend getting (1) Dan Dan Noodle (hand-made noodles) and (2) spicy/sour or sweet/spicy dumplings.
Service: 3/4
All the staffs are busy here, so don't expect much service. However, there are not unfriendly.
Cost: 4/4
It's one of Top 10 Metro Cheap Eats. The price of the meals are wallet-friendly and portion size is decent. Normally spend about $30/two people.
Recomend the place to everyone who don't mind eating spicy food. Personally love going there on rainy days.
Possibly the most hypes up restaurant on Mt Eden side of Dominion Rd. While the name of restaurant is noodles, i found myself liking their dumplings and the unique sauce they use. Cant find a photo from my phone atm so will upload next time. Tips: Go before 12pm to avoid a long line!!
Really great noodles full of flavour even if they were a bit on the spicy side for me. The tasted really unique and my tongue numb because of the Mala. They served Delicious dumplings! The decor inside is very aesthetic 👌 👌 👌 the menu has both Chinese and English, and so many great options! The place is not too big and very crowded.
I have never tried drugs but I bet this is what cocaine is like because every time i eat their spicy dumplings i end up thinking about it for the next month.
Got take always from here the noodles were very nice and the broth was good beware when you get spicy food if you can’t handle spice, I got middle heat and I have quite a high heat tolerance. But other than the spice the dumplings were very nice
Been wanting to try this place for a while now I was now able to. First bite into that bowl of noddles with some pork mince took me back to China. Such a good flavor into that bowl that not even a week since my first time there and already been two extra times! Super delicious and flavorful
Excellent food !one of the best corners for authentic Chinese cuisine and dishes are at nominal prices too.
If you trying Chinese cuisine for the first time , this is the place you should go for.
Been here a few times. The wait may be around 20 minutes or so depending on the day and time. Our go to is the diced chicken noodle dish and the pork and chives dumplings. Good level of heat and overall enjoyable dishes.
First time here and I really enjoyed hot and spicy noodles and dumpings. The dumplings became one of my favourite Chinese dishes! (Recommend☆) I would love to come back to try other dishes as well.
It was sooooo gooood !! The wontons in chicken soup and the dumplings in chilli pepper sauce are the bomb!!
Dumplings and wonton were fresh.
Always our first choice for dumpling, wonton and beef noodles! Have been there more than 10 times. Go early if you want to get a seat, especially non peak hours.
Checked in about half hour after opening and starting to be filled with diners at this popular noodle joint, i guess they chose this small diner on purpose to get as many diners thru as possible and create a queue outside as advertising.
You may need to share a table too if you are socialable, if not then i suggest you get take outs.
I just had the medium braised beef noodle soup and nice n hearty with the noodles to my liking and right gauge too fans
They have got many varieties of authentic Chinese noodles, noodle soups and wontons. Have to wait for some time bcoz of the crowd they have everytime, but it’s worth waiting for. If you prefer spicy you can ask for medium spicy bcoz extra spicy was too hot than expected.
Eden noodles is so generous with their portions, and another bonus is the cheap prices! This was the second time visiting Eden noodles, and the food here is amazing when you’re hung over 😍😍
The dumplings here are my all time favourite & recommend everyone to try it!
The hype is real.
Service: 5/10
Do not come here for the service.
Chinese restaurants tend not to have super good service and this is no exception.
You have to wait in line when you get there because there are barely any tables.
The workers there try to be polite but it doesn’t make a very significant impression.
The food also takes really long to come because they are bombarded with orders.
Food: 10/10
I ordered the medium Dan Dan noodles, Lima bean with pork trotters, and medium dumpling in spicy sauce.
The Dan Dan noodles are perfectly spicy so it adds a kick but doesn’t kill you. The noodles are perfectly chewy and it’s filled with juicy pork mince.
The soup was quite boring. It didn’t have much flavour and weren’t very special, but it added a lighter taste to contrast the other flavours. The trotter was super tender and perfectly cooked.
The dumplings were SO GOOD. I have never eaten such delicious dumplings in my life. The sauce was spicy with a hint of sweetness. The dumplings were thin but went perfectly with the sauce.
Ambiance: 4/10
The restaurant is quite old and small. The tables are super close together and there aren’t many of them.
The kitchen is right beside the dining area so it’s super loud, but at least the ventilation is good.
The whole place is a cool white tone with white furniture and white walls.
The restroom is outside which can be quite annoying when you dine at night, but it’s clean.
Even though it’s quite cramped, everything is clean and hygienic.
I would never expect a restaurant like this to have such good food if it weren’t for the internet hype.
My favorite noodle restaurant. Have to give them a higher star rating despite everything except taste was on the lower end of scale. They have a great selection of noodles and cold dishes. Their noodles have the best flavors. If you can’t handle spicy, go with mild.
Food are prompt to serve but not often you get seats available. Great for takeaways too if you don’t like their restaurant ambience. I always ring in advance and pick up my orders later.

Best dumplings ever. One of the worst service ever too.
But the dumplings and noodles are worth.
Be careful, sometimes they say the food is mild and is terrible spicy.
But will go back for dumplings definitely.
We had dined in before after queuing for a table. Too much of a mission so we ordered takeaway this time again. The dumplings are pretty much the same as nearby restaurants’ but it’s their sauce that really makes it stand out from the rest. It is a combination of sweet, savoury and chilli, quite magical.
The second time here because it is usually crowded. Very local taste of Sichuan. Best dumplings and amazing spicy soup. Spent 30 for two with drinks. Reasonable and acceptable price. Just need to pay cash or transfer when purchase. Will come back again.
Went here to try their famous dumplings and were definitely worth the trip. It’s the sweet and spicy sauce that comes with the dumplings that is the true winner. Each bite has this punch of sweetness and hotness that makes you want to take another. I’ve tried few bites of the other main rice and noodle dishes but couldn’t really complain about them.
The best dumplings I’ve ever tasted so far. I also like their noodles, very tasteful.
The place is just a bit dirty maybe because it’s very busy out there but hopefully they will be cautious about it. Their staff are not that friendly...
Came here in search of Dan dan noodles but ended up liking their dumplings even more! The dumplings came with a really nice spicy sauce. I'm not a huge fan of spice but this one was actually really good.
First time trying Eden Noodles - tried both chicken dishes, the dry noodles & the spicy soup won tons - they were amazing! Great flavor & spice. Will definitely go back.
🌟 This one is definitely my go-to spot for authentic Chinese (Sichuan style) spicy noodles and dumplings. The food there is super flavourful!
🍜 For noodles, I usually get the crispy pork with pickled cabbage & add some pork dumplings in spicy sauce to share. If you can’t eat too spicy, get the mild 🌶. You will love it, it’s just a little bit spicy but not numb, which is amazing to me. 😋
🚶🏻♀️There’s a long queue almost every time I visit the Mt Eden branch. Not only because it’s super popular, but also because the store is really really small. So summer usually makes the food “hotter”🥵 All the seats are right next to the kitchen and if you get a seat at the very end, it’s hard to breathe if you order too spicy 😂
❤️ But their yummy food attracts me to go back all the time.
Went here for the first time today to pick up some dumplings for my wife. A bit of a queue but well worth it. Only critique was that they didny announce clearly that my order number was up, and so I waited around 15 odd minutes longer than I needed to.
First time trying Eden Noodles. They finally have a vegan dumpling (10/10) option and wow it's amazing, the wrapper is thin and chewy. While the chili sauce is amaze-balls sweet, spicy and garlicy and for only $15 for 20pcs. We also ordered Dandan noodles without mince pork (top left), another first for me, the homemade noodles were chewy and delish though I assume a dandan noodle sauce would have more flavours, was quite monotoned (5/10). Overall definitely come back for the dumplings, also want to try their cold noodles.
Dumplings with chilli and pepper sauce. Outrageous dish with heaps of kick and flavours to shock the pallet. Not the best seating area so I suggest takeaway, this place also gets really busy... obviously cause it so good. I also recommend the Dan Dan Noodles. The best Dumplings in Auckland
Welcome to the holy grail of all noodles. My fav is dan dan hand cut noodles 10/10. Dumplings, always get the medium or large because you’ll be wanting more after the small! 10/10
There was a period where the taste of Eden Noodles would be lingering on my taste buds and I would pay a visit about 3 times a week. I’ve tried to branch out and order a number of different things from their menu but in all honesty nothing else is too out of this world. You just need to get 20 dumplings in spicy sauce. I don’t know what’s in the sauce but it is honestly so addicting. I don’t think they do noodles in the same sauce, but if your friend happens to not finish their noodle dish, give them a dunk in the leftover dumpling sauce and enjoy something truly amazing. The part that annoys me is the aftermath, where you cannot stop yourself from drinking water like a horse since the beautiful, heavenly sauce is pure msg.
Best spicy sauce dumplings in town. Even better than their dandan noodles! mild spicy is already enough for me. Desserts are delicious too. Pretty refresh and good after eating spicy.
Actually only $22 for two person for a tight budget meal but with spectacular spicy food. Highly recommend sour&spicy noodles serving with unforgettable pickles
Eden noodles is always a good time! This time we tried three dishes we never tried before - the heart break jelly is delicious and most spicy of the three, I enjoyed it! Definitely worth trying, come armed with tissues though! The chili soup dumplings aren’t as flavorful as the chili oil dumplings but I liked the pickled vegetables they put in the soup to give more flavor, I would resume to ordering my usual chili oil dumplings however. The spare rib noodle wasn’t spicy at all but a wholesome end to the meal!
Very good food. However, there was one very rude waitress who brought out the incorrect item and when she was asked to bring out the correct dish, was complaining to the customer about how they were "wasting their dumplings". Apart from that incompetent individual, the place is a delight.
Come to Eden Noodle Cafe for an authentic Chinese flavour (claim made upon consulting Chinese friends) from the Sichuan province renowned for its spicy cuisine which centres around the Sichuan Pepper. WARNING - FOOD CAN BE VERY SPICY!!!
Ambience is irrelevant but if it matters to you then opt for takeaway/Ubereats. Food is great but spicy. Dumplings in spicy sauce is the pick of the bunch - it’s home made dumplings steamed to perfection served in a chilli oil based sauce but don’t worry you can choose how hot you want. The Dan Dan noodles are also a winner - most popular item from Sichuan province - noodles, chilli sauce and pork mince with spring onions.
Thing to avoid - pork bun with fresh chilli (the fresh chilli burns your mouth).
Try and let me know if you couldn’t cope with the chilli or if you were able to pull through and enjoy the exquisite flavours.
Bon appetite!
Dumplings in spicy sauce (get it mild if you can't handle much heat) are incredible. Phone ahead so you don't have to wait, its quite smelly inside. Not a place to dine in, takeaway is the way to go.
I would so come back. Best spicy and sour soup in town. It had the right balance of the two. The dan dan noodles was covered in it's delicious spicy gravy. I asked for hot but it tasted more like medium so do express to them you want asian hot not kiwi hot for hothot?? ... Crispy cucumber salad with a spicy tangy vinegar hit the spot and cleansed the palate in between bites. It may look oily but is is what makes the flavours, it was soo tasty. They got the DanDan flavour on point. Highly recomment to get the combo we did!
It's a great place to go with friends to experience Sichuan cruise. worth trying at least once, but takeaway is the way to go as it is always busy.

Been to Eden Noodles over 50 times in my life. If that's not enough:
+ Best Noodles in the southern hemisphere (Sichuan sauce dry noodles with pork mince, make sure to order them HOMEMADE).
+ Dumplings in spicy sauce more addictive than heroine. Minus some of the health downsides.
+ The service people are heroes. While cleanliness could be improved, servicing all the people that come and call here with the efficiency they do is a task only few can accomplish. Good on you Eden Noodles crew.
- Tables can fit 4 people max, keep in mind if you come here in a group.
- The table in the corner next to the door can be uncomfortable in busy times - if you're queuing try to let those seating there enjoy their meal.
"When people come visit me in NZ this is the first place I take them to eat".
You have to go to Eden noodles if you like anything spicy! There’s so many Chinese noodle/dumpling dishes on the menu to choose from and it’s always delicious! The restaurant is tiny, so it’s hard to get a seat, unless you want to wait but there’s always the takeaway alternative to eat at home.
Had takeaways from here a couple of times. Dumplings are great and tasty. Only complaint is the waiting but they always super busy so that is why.
Small place but always busy with a long queue of people, that’s the sigh to tell you the food is good. I had the pork and chives dumplings in spicy sauce and dandan rice noodles. It may looks super red but obviously you can choose how spicy it is, I chose the less spicy one and it was not spicy at all so don’t be afraid. I really liked the dumplings, yummy!
So good. The food is definitely worth the line (they don't take long to make anyway). Customer service is pretty poor but who cares when the food is that good. It is spicy as well as tangy, authentic Sichuan food I suppose. The dumplings are really nice, definitely coming back for more!
Best dumplings ever. I always get pork and chive in spicy and sour soup.
Ps. Even If you ask for mild, it’s still going to be super spicy 🌶
Not a good dining place because it's small and the line runs out onto the street! But great for takeaways, quick service. Unfortunately not much of a fan of their Dan Dan noodles because it lacks a little oomph. BUT they have the best spicy dumplings in Auckland! That sauce is just super original to them and the dumpling pastry is just so thin and great to eat! I tried to replicate making the sauce at home but it tasted no where near as good! I come here all the time now for their dumplings :)
The best dumplings and noodles in Auckland. Why are they so good? For me it's the broth in which they are served. Deep and rich with flavor, packed with the famous szechuan spice (numb tongue anyone?). Mouth-wateringly good. Recommend the Pork and Chive Dumplings in spicy broth and the Braised Beef Noodles.
Such a late-comer to this one but finally got takeaways from here last night! Ordered the classic dandan noodles with pork mince, the dumplings and also the pickled cucumber! Everything was delicious in particular the sauces! A little bit oily but that is the style of food. The only thing was that it’s so busy we had to wait quite a while for the food but that’s a given!

Ordered noodle in soup with dandan sauce with crispy pork belly on the top of the noodle, plus also dumpling with spicy sauce.. hot and spicy food in winter time are really the best food to warm the body - Denny Setiawan
We arrived only half an hour after they opened but they were already full so I can’t stress the importance of avoiding going during peak lunch and dinner times if you don’t want to queue.
We ordered the noodles in soup with dandan sauce (担担面), noodles with braised pork ribs in soup (卤排骨面), wonton in spicy soup (红油抄手), and green bean jelly in spicy sauce (凉粉).
All the dishes were phenomenal (with the wontons taking the lead) and were great value for money. I found it particularly favourable that they offered different sizes for noodle and wonton/dumpling dishes.
Prompt and friendly service. A superb experience overall.
If you love your spice then this is definitely the place for you. Just went here tonight for the first time, it was busy but we didn't have to wait long for a table. The dumplings in the spicy sauce was amazing and you know they are fresh because the lady is sitting there making them😁👌🏼
Had lunch on Saturday, noodles was savoury and hit the spot! Ordered Kumara noodles, dandan, medium spicy. Seating is limited and heard many people ordering takeaways instead.
used to love Eden Noodle, been there over a decade....they r getting very popular...the food is good if u love spicy food...but service is terrible.... we found a new place called "Chongqing" also on dominion rd....they hv better noodle n dumplings....much tastier and better service. forgot to mention they heaps of tables unlike Eden noodles.....
Eden noodles is always super popular, better chance to get a table during unconventional meal times like 4pm... other than that it’s tasty, cheap and you won’t regret it!
This place is real busy, waited for 30 mins on a Wednesday night due to many people and the limited tables. But it was worth the wait. It taste really good except is a bit too spicy for me (I can’t eat much spicy).
Highly recommend the dumplings in spicy soup! It is not too spicy and the soup is sweet.
We ordered over the phone and it was so rushed and difficult to understand the lady serving us. When we got there to collect it was also pretty rushed and I must’ve missed the number they gave me over the phone so there was a bit of rudeness about me having to repeat what I ordered. With that said, the service was made up by the delicious & Great food!! We ordered the dumplings with spicy sauce (highly recommend), noodle soup with dan dan sauce (highly recommend), noodle soup with braised beef (my favourite-highly recommend) and the Chinese chicken pita which was waaay too spicy for both of us. It is well priced and delicious and we will definitely be back for more!!

Good food and service. Its always packed so go early. Spice levels could be pretty up there if youre not use to it. Go one step down if you are not accustomed to spicy food. Dumplings in special sauce is to die for.
I settled for Dumplings in spicy and sour soup for that night, they also gets the job done! Delicious dumplings. Staff are always friendly and cheerful
An easy eat on a weekday or weekend! Your Experience cannot be complete without trying the dumpings! The most addictive dumplings. Usually a queue during peak hours but have found recently, the weekend can be a lot quieter so easier to get a table. Have noticed a great improvement on service.
In love with this place very small restaurant huge flavours we had the shredded chicken noodle and dumplings in hot and spicy soup and some plain dumplingsthe flavours were out of this world we had to wait a while to be seated as the cafe was extremely busy but there was no compromise to the food quality fresh and delicious definitely recommend this amazing restaurant and m really sorry for cans my kids dropped under the table
Came in the other day and thought I'd give it a try. The place was at full capacity so it was busy, I managed to get a table. I ordered the Dan dan noodles, and pork and chives dumplings with spicy sauce.
The Dan dan noodles was full of flavour and abit overpowering for me as I'm not used to Sichaun flavours. Not my cup of tea though, however I enjoyed the dumplings. They worked a treat. It was the highlight for me, juicy, a little sweetness and spicy.
Would definitely come back for the dumplings!!
Was super stoked to get a table around 6.30pm on a Saturday, after only having to wait 5-10 mins. As soon as we got our food there was a massive line outside.
Between 2 of us we ordered the medium dan dan noodles with hand pulled noodles, small pork dumplings in chilli and pepper sauce and medium pork dumplings in spicy sauce. This came to $28. The food came out around 8 minutes after ordering which was good considering the amount of orders they were doing.
The serving sizes are generous and medium can definitely be shared between 2. We got the medium spice for all three dishes which was spicy enough for us without being overpowering (and we can eat spicy food). The dan dan noodles were the highlight, the noodles were chewy and the soup base was delicious!
the dumplings were okay, not the best tasting filling - they only had pork flavoured ones left (not the chive or cabbage options) and I also found the dumplings to be too large to eat. The spicy sauce was super good, but we found the pepper and chilli sauce underwhelming.
We came by around 1130 make sure that we could get seats for lunch. We were luck and there was one table left. After perusing the fairly large menu we picked a few items to share. You go up to the counter to order and pay. You could choose the spiciness level and we mostly got medium spicy and it was alright. We got a few entrees and of course had to try the dumplings and dan dan noodles. Dumplings were amazing. Juicy, tasty and flavourful. The dan dan noodles were ok, the best part was the fried mince on top. I personally didn't like the flavour of the beef jerky.
The place is really small so you need a bit of luck if you were wanting to eat in without having to wait. The food is quite nice so the wait is worth it.
The line is so long for this one, but worth it. You can choose the level of spiciness for the meals here. The people of Sichuan can eat very spicy, so if you know you can’t eat too spicy let the staff know when you are ordering.
We ordered a dumpling in chili and pepper sauce and dandan noodles both extra spicy(大辣). The dumplings are really really good. The noodles is too salty, to the point where I can’t taste anything else. But the dumplings 👌🏼. Maybe we’ll only order dumplings next time.
Came in today for lunch. Ordered large dan dan thin noodles with medium spice, pork with chives dumplings in spicy sauce, wonton in spicy soup, chinese pita bread with chicken mince and fresh chilli. Dan Dan noodle were at the right thickness and wasn't too spicy. The pork with chives dumplings were really good. Best dumplings I've tasted so far. It tasted a bit sweet as well as spicy. The wontons were average. The chinese pita bread was really delicious. It was super spicy and the chicken meat tasted real good. Probably one of the best food items they have there. Would strongly recommend this place.
I moved from China to Auckland two years ago. As a Chinese point of view, the noodles here are quite legit. The Dandan noodle tasted just like the bowl you had in your neighbourhood back in Chengdu (maybe less spicy). As I'm a sweet tooth, the Sweet Water noodle here is worth to try as well. The only pity is the place suddenly got so many attention after it popes out on Metro Tops and the waiting line is too long these days. But it's not necessary a bad thing as the place definitely worth a visit!

Deeply saddened by the fact that the most delicious Sichuan food that I have ever tasted was located in different continent from where I live. Love all of the food that we ordered. The texture of the noodles, the thick cut, thin cut, and hand cut, were spot on. Eden noodle's chili sauce was super delicious with just the perfect level of spiciness in my opinion. A nice hot and spicy meal in the middle of cold winter is just what I need at that time. Their Noodle soup with dandan sauce, homemade spicy wonton, and sichuan dry noodles were just the cure for the cold winter. A must try.
Authentic Chinese Sichuan food, definitely a must/eat! Eden noodles has a decently large menu with lots to choose from! Their dishes really packs in flavour and definitely are spicy! For someone that can’t usually take spicy food, I’d still recommend on getting medium spice just to pack in a punch. Service and presentation of restaurant may not be the finest, but good enough! There are usually long queues so just be prepared. I would usually wait about 20-30 minutes for a table. Or call in advance for takeaways. Would not recommend groups of more than 4+ as their table sizes are small. Dumplings in spicy sauce is a must, noodles in soup with Dan Dan sauce (crispy pork mince on top) is also a good basic noodle go-to) and wonton in spicy soup is nice. 🥟
The moment I bite into their dumpling. Bursting with their signature oily chilli flavour. Leaves me wanting for more. And be prepared to queue for seats. It’s packed. Well that’s also because the shop is ultimately small.
Very limited seating but my friend and I managed to get a two seater and she ordered pork and chives dumplings in spicy sauce 😍😍😍 we both like spicy food but even we had to get mild! And it was still hot!! But the dumplings were soooo good!
I was initially taken to this restaurant by my close friend after being promised extremely good dumplings. I came into the restaurant with some very hefty expectations and walked out with the most uncontainable smile on my face.
The Dan Dan Noodles come in the traditional Szechuan soup but rather than being topped with minced meat, they are instead topped by deep fried pork fat. The actual noodles are quite soft and I would say they are similar in shape but slightly smaller than udon noodles. The soup is tasty but not overwhelming and despite ordering medium-level spice for both, the dumpling sauce was much bolder. I ordered a small size which is very suitable if you plan to share something else. Overall, I was happy with the noodles.
The style of dumplings I went for were (surprise, surprise) Pork & Chives in Chili Pepper sauce. Given that the dumplings are effectively swimming in sauce, I found the skin to filling ratio nicely proportioned. It’s hard to taste the filling and it feels like the meat is there to add texture more than add flavour. In saying that, when I ate a dumpling without sauce, the pork and chives flavours did come through. The sauce is slightly sweet upon the first tasting but also tastes of sesame, chili and lightly Szechuan peppercorn oil. It’s explosive, tasty, and extremely addicting! I actually find the medium spice pretty spicy and it worked me into a sweat. My friend, who doesn’t handle spice too well, went for the mild which is where he met his match.
The orders are taken at the counter and the man who takes them comes across as very abrupt without the intention of being rude. Everything is very fast paced and orders come out fairly quickly. It’s extremely busy and hard to find a table. The space is small and cramped and you’ll often find late comers and take away customers queueing by the front door. Water and utensils are self-service.
I don’t think my experience could have been any better as I was completely blown away. All I can really say is Eden Noodle is the place to be in Auckland for anyone on the hunt for some seriously intoxicating Szechuan food.
I walked to the eden noodles and also feel i walked to the right as the taste made me realise that what the real noodles are. Very tasty flavour they had . I loved the flavour and spicy chicken also had very delightful taste, which was just remarkable . Highly recommendable place ❤️
My husband and I would say it’s the best Sichuan style restaurant in auckland. We would go there every time we are craving for spicy and authentic delicious Sichuan food. The service is prompt and good; food: best. Period. Just go and eat!!! Love their dried noodles with sweet and spicy sauce as well as won ton in spicy soup.
They have such good food, always packed with hungry people. Just shows how good their food is. I always get different items everytime I go there because I know I cant go wrong here. The spice in their food isnt just spicy like how you get it in your yum yum noodles but more of a fragrant and more flavorsome.
This place is epic. You really can't go wrong here if you like spicy Sichuan food.
I always get something with their "spicy sauce" which leaves my tongue tingling (I may be addicted).
The only downside is the size of the place - it's tiny and it's almost always busy. It is run with the usual blunt but effective Chinese food service practices though, so you may just want to get takeaway if it's busy.
Dumplings here are the best I've ever had, silky smooth dumpling pastry and yum filling, served with spicy sauce which has a spicy/oily/sweet flavor. We drive from Otahuhu to Mt eden at least twice a week just for the dumplings alone.
Large serving is around $13 and you get 20 dumplings F#$king awesome!!
Best place for dumplings. My neighbour love it too so every time i order dumplings i get another one for her too. Fast service & fresh eveytime. Yummy..!
Eden noodles cafe is the best at what they do - Authentic Sichuan small bites. Always come here to eat when I’m craving the cuisine. Reasonably priced, generous potion. We order dan dan noodles and dumplings in chilli oil every time.
Cheap food and guaranteed to leave you full.
The dan dan noodles is always a good choice as well as their spicy dumplings. You can easily feed two people for just over $20.
There’s usually a line so be prepared to wait a while to order but once you order the food is quit fast. There’s not many tables to eat in and definitely no space for groups larger than 4, so prepare to takeaway.
This restaurant is a must do before you leave New Zealand. My favorites are the dan dan noodles and the dumplings are just amazing! This is on my eat every week list.
Perfect food destination on a cold day 👍🏻 my friend and I both ordered the Dan Dan Noodles in spicy soup with crispy pork mince on top. We also got dumplings in spicy and sour soup and Chinese pita bread with spiced beef. The noodles was excellent and the the pita bread was a pleasant surprise. But the highlight of the meal was the dumplings which is literally the best I’ve had in Auckland. The price is cheap given the huge portion size of everything. Waiting time might be long and service is not the most attentive, but Eden Noodles is definitely worth a go if you’re craving Chinese cuisine.
Over the years, i noticed eden noodle house have diluted their spiciness. But the food never fails. The original dan dan noodle is always good. I got the pork minced dry noodle and it was super delicious. The dumplings used to be filled to the rim but i noticed that its getting smaller and smaller lately.
All fired up...very tasty now I know why our work mates go there from Countdown Newmarket love it spicy dumblings and the staff are super friendly it's a good sign when the work place is happy...lunch and dinner on the menu are great...Go try it for yourself your see what I mean? Great Over All.
Authentic and nice Chinese food, definitely recommend dumplings for takeaways instead of noodles as the later easily get too soaked and saggy. What’s amazing about this place is it’s run so effectively, sometimes even brutal, that the receptionist talks so fast, multitasks the world off and you’d be given for a number for your takeaway if you call to order before going to the cafe, which is a wise thing to do. Good job guys :D
Probably the best place to have Dandan noodles in Auckland, its very busy here so be there before noon and go before 5pm to get a table, they charge 50cents per bowl to take your left overs home ,
I had tantan noodle, dumpling with spicy, and cucumber salad -NO28(?) . was nice to have those 3together as i felt spicy for the noodle, sweet for the dumpling:) cheap price !
As far as food goes its a 5/5 from me. Everything from the dumpling to the noodles is homemade and fresh. The cucumber salad is out of this world. Really simple but hits every note on the palate just right. The dumplings themselves are best had with a maximum of mild spice as the subtle flavours get lost in heat and Sichuan sauce after that.
Only thing stopping it from getting a near perfect score is the fact that there are more cooks than chairs at this place. There isn't room to swing a cat in but if you are lucky enough to get the biggest table for 4 then it is well worth the effort. Just watch out for the table with the electrical box jutting out from the wall. Best to place a kid, short adult or least liked friend in that spot.

I know, I know, I am super late on the bandwagon. It might be that for a long time, I was put off by the long queues out the door or the fact that I can’t handle extremely spicy food. Anyhow, I finally made it… and I am so glad I did! It was everything I imagined and more.
Eden Noodles Cafe is located on Dominion Road in Mount Eden and specialises in Sichuan cuisine. The menu is lengthy, and all dishes are reasonably priced. You can order fresh and handmade dumplings, noodles, soups, wontons, hotpot, rice dishes and Sichuan snacks. Their main drawcard is the Dumplings in Spicy Sauce. Ya Qin Zhang, aka ‘The Dumpling Queen’ makes between 3000-4000 dumplings a day at Eden Noodles Cafe. She can even make them with her eyes closed!
Great place for spicy noodles and spicy dumplings
Won Ton soup. Jelly dessert.
Cosy seating and limited so not so overcrowded but popular so usually a line waiting
The most Authentic Sichuan flavour i have had in New Zealand!! SIMPLY THE BEST and affordable prices. DUMPLINGS with the spicy sauce ! OMG that is to DIE FOR!!
My favorite Sichuan restaurant in New Zealand. For anyone who keen on spicy food, you can’t miss this authentic Sichuan restaurant. You don’t have to spend around 50 dollars per person at any Hot Pot place, just a bowl of noodle is enough for a man, which is just over 10bucks.
Dandan. Dam good. Price friendly. Very busy place but food top notch. No wonder this place always has a queue outsidd the shop. Excellent. Would recommend
Eden noodles must be tried at least once if you live within Auckland. The line is long, staff don't speak English that well and the inside doesn't look all that enticing, but the spicy dumplings and hand made dry seafood combination noodles are tasty as!
Really good prices and really ok service. my favorite taste, just sometimes during lunch time, I have to wait long time. Need to clean their tables more often.
Finally got round to trying this place, and it was definitely worth the hype! We went around 11:15, right before lunch time, and we were lucky enough to grab the last available table. It was packed, people just kept coming for a Wednesday. Food came.out quickly and efficiently. Originally, my bf stuffed up and got the 20 dumplings instead of the 15, but it was so good, we ended up finishing it all! We got this along with the Dan Dan mian in medium heat (my bf needs to up his spice tolerance) but nevertheless it was still super tasty! The dumplings in special sauce was so good, we could taste sweetness as well as spice. Seriously, that sauce was BOMB. will definitely come back and order again, very satisfying for a spice girl like me. (Hehe)
Simply one of the BEST comfort foods out there on dominion road. Fastest service I’ve ever experienced, even being 5th on the waiting list. Food not too complicated - they understand the concept of less is more. Spicy is best.
Been here twice. Both times, food was amazing. I love my spice so this place was perfect. First time around had the Sad Cold Spicy Noodles - extra hot. I nearly died but enjoyed the noodles. Second time I had the pork dumpling with spicy soup - little sweet for me but still loved the taste. Would recommend for spice lovers. Staff is friendly and service is very quick! Got told to wait for a table on the 2nd visit but food was ready as soon as we sat down.
THIS PLACE IS LIT
after a long wait outside the tiny restaurant, we finally got to sit down. The place was small so be careful when waiters holding hot spicy noodles around. We ordered two dandan noodles and 5 dumplings with spicy sauce (both just with little spiciness).
Crispy pork on dandan noodles was so yum! Dumplings were not dry and the spicy sauce was somehow sweet and addictive! I can’t really eat spicy food but for this dumpling, I’ll risk my life to have it😂
It’s a solid 10/10 for food
Just a friendly reminder that make sure you tell the waitress whether you are dining in or taking away instead of just standing outside waiting forever. There were a lot of confusion on the day we went. Some people stood outside for a long while but turned out they were not in the queue 🤦🏻♀️
I am in love! I had a craving so I ordered the dumplings with chili and pepper sauce, and asked for “spicy!!!”. Usually when I ask for spicy it’s mild at best - but this sauce was so full of flavour, perfect spiciness and a lovely hint of sweetness which harmonied with the pork dumpling perfectly.
$10 for 15 dumplings, and amazing dumplings at that. I can see why this place has a cult following - I will definitely be coming back soon and am looking forward to trying other dishes :)
Updated review Jan 2019: vege dumplings are amazing!!! And their sad cold noodle. Great vegan food.
Updated review august 2018: WTF happened??? New management? Everything is horrible now. Low quality, low effort, higher prices... This us not Eden noodles.
Old review: 4 stars. Pretty good noodles! The best vegetarian option is definitely the XL vegetarian noodles. The vegetable stew has a pork base, so do not order if you are veg. The spicy dumpling sauce is also great. Atmosphere is pretty humble, you should aim to be in and out very quickly as it gets very hot inside!!
Dan Dan noodles & spicy dumplings were the best!! The actual noodles were really good, nice texture and fresh. Definitely will be back. Up there wth one of the best noodle places in AKL
Relatively cheap prices for big bowls of noodles. The only downside was that the noodles occupied 95% of the bowl with only about 5% of the contents being meat or vege ingredients. Basically paying for the noodles to fill you up. Spicy dumplings were pretty good and a tad oily. Not suitable for big groups of people to dine in. The biggest table seats four and it is pretty cramped inside. Most people have takeaways.
Loved the pork noddle and its cream, potatoes and kurmara always be my first choice. Best noddle shop in Auckland i guess.staff is friendly and funny
Amazing noodles and dumplings. I've started on the rice dishes and they are good. Everyone I know loves the food here. The lines are massive and wait times beginning to get to me. There is a vacant shop space right next door to you....
What a absolute gem . I recommend going outside of peak time . We went there at 7.15pm the line was out the door . Waited about 50mins for takeaway . Definitely worth it. The spicy dumplings and spicy beef noodles soup was soo good . Very cheap as well. Highly recommend .
Been here several times, the food and service can be a bit of hit and miss. We went Wed evening just after 5pm and it was fairly quiet so we got a table right away. The staff at the counter were friendly, we have come across staff that don't acknowledge you at all. We got all our food with normal/mild spice which actually had very minimal spice. In the past we asked for medium and it was hooootttt - not sure if that was just the chef being a bit heavy handed with the spice! The dan dan noodles was yum, the time before this visit they were using really thick udon noodles which we did not like. The dry sichuan noodles was bomb and definitely my favorite. And the dumplings in spicy sauce is always a must. The sauce this time was much sweeter than I remember, and one person commented that the pork flavour was really strong. But we still thoroughly enjoyed them. For two we got 2 noodles, 1 large dumplings and two drinks for $35.50 - bargain!
Insanely good! I would go back over and over again. Staff are really friendly and the food comes out quick. Food was so so tasty. If you don’t want the tingly numbing sensation on your tongue that comes from the Chinese Pepper say you don’t want it in your dish :)
The service... is not why you come here but we appreciated the efficiency and didn't care for small talk. Would be nice if they organised the ordering/waiting for order system abit better, can be very confusing.
The food... thats the main reason why we showed up and it did not disappoint! Ordered dumplings in sauce , medium size of 15 pieces for $10. Soo cheap and the crispy pork noodles which was quite delicious.
The times I have been there it has been BUSY. A little patience goes along way. Definitely a place you must try!!

Cheap and good! First time trying! None of the dishes disappoint me! Lots of options in the menu! Glad that offer little spicy taste which is perfect for non good spicy eater like me!
After much buzz about this place (e.g. nzherald and the dumpling-making lady), I had to come and check it out for lunch.
*Summary at the end*
The café was much smaller than anticipated - only several small tables crammed into the long but narrow space - prepare for a short wait for seating. (There was also a line waiting for the counter). The staff actually directed us to a table before we asked, which I found considerate and efficient.
As seen from the menu, the prices were great. I'd definitely recommend going for the 20 dumplings, although my friends were more than satisfied with 15 each.
We ordered separately by getting up from the table to wait in line for the counter - I'm not sure if there were wait staff. If going as a group of friends and ordering from the table, a sign did say only one bill per table.
We all ordered pork and chive dumplings, in the spicy sauce (me) and in the chilli/pepper sauce, all mild spiciness (these looked the same, so be sure to ask the staff if uncertain), and these didn't take long to arrive.
The spicy sauce was delicious.
It was savoury and mildly sweet, with a spice diffused throughout, and allowed the glistening dumpling skin to glide around in the mouth. The sauce was incredibly oily, which usually bothers me, but here, the oiliness was hardly noticeable (in taste). Also, according to a friend, the two spicy sauces tasted similar.
The dumplings seemed freshly made (we could see the lady hand-making them as we waited for the counter, although the skin looked pre-made). The only downside to the dumplings was the small amount of filling, which justifies ordering more dumplings!
We also ordered an ice-cool serving of 'happy yum jelly with sweets sauce' - clear jelly lumps in a sweet translucent brown syrup. It was a soothing break from the spicy sauce, but debatable if worth $4.
Summary
- Space was crowded - might feel claustrophobic or lively depending on you!
- Busy busy busy - prepare for a short wait
- Service - at the counter and one word: efficient
- Order 20 dumplings over 15 (small but very worth the price!)
- Can I buy the dumpling sauce?
Excellent food :) my favourite is the dumplings in spicy sauce and spicy beef noodle soup. The only downside is the size of the restaurant and the waiting lines. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE expand your restaurant and get more staff to accomodate the amount of customers you get so we can all enjoy the food instead of having to get takeaway. Takeaway just does not taste the same as when you eat in. Besides that, if you don't mind waiting for the food, it is definitely worth it. Food is amazing and I leave happy overtime :)
absolutely delicious, cheap and authentic!! Love the ‘dumplings in spicy sauce’, my go to order here! Can be quite spicy if you can’t handle spice but worth the burn! Highly recommend!
One of my favorite places for dinner with friends! Have been there multiple times and I’ve been happy pretty much every time..Would recommend to anyone who is keen to try Asian.
Came here around lunch hour and it was quite busy but didn’t have to wait too long. The place is really small so gets a bit difficult moving around.
The staff are good I guess and food didn’t take long even during lunch time.
We ordered pork dumplings in chilli and pepper sauce and they were super yummy and had nothing quite like them before. They were my favourite out of the 3 that we got
The Dandan noodles were nice, not my favourite but I wouldn’t mind having it again.
Then lastly we got the cold noodles with pork and garlic sauce, really refreshing especially since the two other dishes we got were more on the spicier side.
For the noodle dishes we got handmade noodles and they were well made and good texture so didn’t regret spending slightly extra for those.
We also asked for medium spice excluding the cold noodles and in my opinion it wasn’t too spicy. If anything, having spicy food during summer isn’t the best idea but their spice was more numbing rather than the burning your tongue type, which I personally prefer.
Overall this place is affordable with comforting and delicious food. Would definitely come back here again to try other items on their menu.
We often pass this place on the way further down Dominion Road for some yummy Chinese Food, promising ourselves we’d try it, finally did and luckily no lines as well.
We opted for their most popular dishes, Dan Dan Noodles, Dumplings in spicy sauce and the slobbery chicken ( which was an opps, did I order that). The Noodles and Dumplings were very good and tasty. We had them make it mild and it had a nice kick to it already. For my wife and I, the large bowl is good for sharing.
The Slobbery chicken was also good but honestly I thought it was a noodle dish, apparently it’s a cold dish but it wasn’t bad.
I would also suggest a nice cold can of coke, zero or otherwise, perfect for the spicy food.
Dined here on a Friday night and the place was packed (very small) we waited around 10minutes for table but others had to wait longer. Staff were average and place is soooo tiny. We had spicy beef noodles, wonton soup, dumplings, spicy Chinese taco bread. The highlight for us was their dumplings sooo amazing!! Best dumplings in auckland for us!! Spicy noodles was medium heat tolerable. But the spicy taco bread was very hot but good! We will be back for their dumplings we suggest you order the large portion!
First time trying the Braised Beef Noodles in XL and Pork & Chives dumplings, Sichuan style! Arrived here at 1pm, was worried that we would have to queue up, but today was our lucky day! It's quite a small dining area, and everything is so fast-paced, even the staff were moving at a quick pace! Definitely considering this place a good value for your money. The braised beef were perfectly sliced, and it was tender. The noodles were so good; dunked in quite a thick textured, beefy flavoured broth, sprinkled with some pink ginger and veges. The dumplings are handmade, and the dumpling pastry was thin, smooth and silky! Absolutely loved it with the sauce they combined it with. I'll give myself a challenge next time and try something spicy! Walked out the door very satisfied!
This place is always busy so plan your visit. Great dumplings and rice noodles. Must try the Dan Dan noodles. student friendly prices. The only downside is they shut early at 9:30pm
No wonder why this place is so popular! Their food is awesome! I loved those noodles but after trying their dumpling, I have to say wow! that was the best dumpling I’ve ever tried! The dumplings are hand-made in their kitchen and the sauce matches the dumplings perfectly!
The place is very small but they always keep every table clean and tidy. Love this place so so much!
I think this place is worth the hype!
The staff are quite attentive and very helpful in comparison to many other small chinese food joints.
The dumplings were amazing. We even got to witness the dumplings being made as we ate them. Handmade noodles were nice but the soups are a bit on the salty side for me.
Definitely keen to come back and try other dishes!
This place is delicious! We ordered dan dan noodles and pork and cabbage dumplings, and it was honestly amazing! The flavours worked so well together. It was super cheap as well! I would definitely recommend the place, the flavours are so authentic, very fast service and not expensive at all :)
We managed to get a table at their busy lunch service. Super tight squeeze but that is how it is. Beef and noodle soup was delicious with deep flavours in the soup and beef that was really tender. The diner rated it 4. Dumplings were in a great sauce which complimented the morsels but then it could wake up any dish. We also had a meat hotpot which was really HOT with chillies. Not their fault that we could not tolerate the chillies but tasty all the same.
Dumplings in spicy sauce is the reason we are regular visitors here, and the reason this review is so high. On the other hand, the organisation of the place really does let it down. Waiting 40 minutes in a line when you have pre ordered on the phone really isn’t right, they really need to either expand or find a way to get people in and out quicker
The service here is really good with busy atmosphere during evenings. The serving size are quite reasonable. The only thing got me was that they only use chillies for spiciness. They can make more dimensions in spiciness .
The wontons and dumplings are so delicious! The price is also really good, as you can pick multiple foods for try.
I heard that Eden Noodles Cafe opened a new restaurant at Albany, it must be more convenient for me hunting food!
This place has its string of customers even in the mid-afternoons. Thankfully, we managed to find a table on a Friday evening. Dumplings are totally out of this world (get the pork with chives, non-spicy and without soup). Trust me, I've eaten many dumplings in my life and thus far, this is one major crowd pleaser.
Decided to check out this place after the many new articles I've read on them - not at all dissapointed! The service was excellent, despite the crowd, they managed to accomodate for our group of 5 and made sure we were comfortable. We ordered different noodles and spicy wontons. The noodles were very good, but the highlight was the wontons, which were cooked perfectly! Definitely recommend this place :)
I am absolutely obsessed! Took a while as i was waiting in line on a friday night to get in but it was totally worth it. Very flavourful and the dan dan noodles were quite spicy, right up my alley. Although the dan dan noodles was definitely a hit for me, the highlight was definitely he wontons! They were also delicous and not as spicy, meat had a great texture, wrapped inside a soft, soggy ( in a good way) chewy layer of pastry. Definately reccomend !!
The best Sichuan style restaurant in NEW ZEALAND.
I go there almost twice a week.
Hope the menu would be renewed, adding something new like ‘xiao noodle’
Ordered pork and chive dumpling in plain soup, mince chicken pancake, seafood wonton, dandan noodle. All these dishes we highly recommend. Pancakes are spicy.
Looking for some decent Sichuan food? Look no further! I showed up literally 28 minutes after they opened up and there was already a queue going out the door. The cafe itself doesn't have a lot of space to begin with, so you can imagine with a bunch of people around you're crammed like sardines in a can. I recommend ordering takeaway so you can have your mouth-gasms in peace. The staff are friendly enough, they stay busy trying to accommodate everyone so don't expect too much small talk; for me the hustle & bustle adds to the authenticity anyway.........But the food?!?! I'm not a big fan of spicy food but them dumplings in spicy sauce are nothing short of amazing! Sooo flavourful & comforting!!! I'm already experiencing withdrawal symptoms, planning to go back this weekend for my next fix.
Great friendly fast service even when it's quite busy. Got a table for two and had the most amazing dumplings in spicy sauce , recommend the dumplings
Although this place looks like a small eatery this is a massively popular place when it's open. I've always ordered pork and chives dumplings and Chinese pita bread combinations. Their wontons are also a must try. Couldn't handle the hotpot meat and vegetables soup the only time I tried it, but it was delicious. Highly recommended.
Love this place pork and chive dumplings in the chilli and pepper sauce!! Yuuuuummm!!
Only let down is how small and busy this place is!
So takeaways are the way to go!!
Dumplings are 5/5, spicy sauce is out of this world. Usually a long wait and queue to get a table or takeaways, food is great quality for the prices. Counter staff are pretty friendly, service is noted as the one delivery of your dishes to the table, get everything else yourself. But you go for the dumplings, not the service.
The last time we visited, we tried the dumplings, rice and spicy beef, and the slobbery chicken which was recommended by the waiter. We were both not keen on the chicken, it was a cold dish, and not appetising at all. Rice and spicy beef was pretty good. Dumplings; amazing.
This time, we had the dumplings in spicy sauce again, and tried the handmade noodles with spicy beef. Dumplings were faultless and the handmade noodles were really good, however would have tasted way better dry or in spicy sauce (not in the spicy soup) IMO. Next thing I'll be trying off the menu next time!
We Travel from the North shore for their dumplings in spicy sauce and dumpling in spicy and sour soup, also their dandan noodles are the best I've had.. wait time for a table can be up to half an hour but who really cares when the dumplings are top notch..
Absolutely in love with the food here. The meals come out piping hot in large portions, most times I have to actually wait a bit before I can start eating. The dandan noodles and dumplings are fresh and delicious, complemented by a spicy broth and plenty of tongue numbing sichuan peppercorns. They take their spice seriously, I struggled with their medium spice even though I considered myself to have a relatively high tolerance. If you don't want noodles or dumplings there are also rice dishes which are also good. In my opinion the food is worth the long wait. If you want to avoid queues however, try going for an early or late lunch and order for takeaway. There is always a line in the evening.
This place really needs to upgrade -1. They're so small and always so busy. Really claustrophobic im there. But 5 stars for pork and chive dumpling in spicy sauce. Best dumplings ive had! First time i tried it, i went back 3 more times in 1 week!!! Can't get enough! I wasnt a fan of the dan dan noodles tho :/
Very flavoursome and spicy noodles. Got the classic dan dan noodles and the soup was amazing although a bit salty. Would definitely come back to try the dumplings. It can be crowded and a bit of a wait in the peak hours but that's to be expected.
So iv been going here for about 5 months now, my partner introduced me to it around then.
So far every meal we've had from there has been both excellent in taste and consistent. It is worth noting that as it is a Sichuan Provence style restaurant, most of the dishes are spicy, so it may not be the best place to visit if you don't enjoy spice. They do offer mild as an option but even that is more than other places, it's just part of that delicious Sichuan taste.
As for the atmosphere, it is a small establishment so getting a table can be difficult, it's crowded and noisy but that's not always a bad thing. Most times iv been there there's a line of people out of the door, it's a popular place.
Iv found that ordering over the phone is a good way of going about getting your food.
Price wise it's great, we usually spend around $20-25 for the two of us and that's for 2 large, filling meals. The best Chinese iv had in New Zealand hands down.
If restaurants had scoville units, Eden Noodles Cafe would be the Ghost chilli equivalent. Hot food and hot indoors (had to remove my jacket). Although this was my first brush with the Sichuan cuisine, whatever I've seen or read about it was done justice to by ECN. My wife and I visited here today for an early lunch at 12:30ish. And man, the crowd outside this place was enough to indicate that our place of choice was perfect. It's a tiny place so be prepared for a long wait if you want to eat there or have turned up for a take away without calling ahead. They have about 4 table for two and another 4 for four. The other half of the place is an open kitchen, feels lovely. My only suggestion, know what to order beforehand as I'm not sure the small counter space offers the liberty to decide there (they've stuck a menu outside or there's always Zomato). We went for the Spicy dumplings in (medium) spicy sauce and hot pot (combo of meat and veggies; spicy). First sip of the broth and I could feel the burn, the good kinds. Dumplings were doused in hot oil, love the concept; takes it up a notch. Wish the filling was a bit more, it's awesome nonetheless. The portions were perfect, hot pot was a bit large by my standards (had to pack the remaining). Added the leftover hot oil to the hot pot, it was so good. Total came to $23. Meal for two won't cross $30 I think. Next visit should happen soon, can't wait to try their famous Dan dan noodles.
Edit: Went again a week later for Dumplings in spicy sauce (highest level), was a take away so maybe the heat level went down a bit. Nevertheless, totally worth it. And went again a day later for another take away; ordered dumplings in chilli and pepper sauce (medium), dan dan noodles (spicy) and Sichuan style noodles with dry pork mince on top (spicy). Dumplings, good as always but couldn't make out the difference from those in spicy sauce. Sichuan style noodles with dry pork mince, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious; can only imagine how superb they must be if consumed riteaway. And finally, Dan Dan noodles; didn't blow me away as the other Sichuan style noodles did but good choice nonetheless. Only suggestion, if possible, eat in or if opting for a take away, then don't delay eating what you've ordered. Waiting for my next visit real bad...
Best dumplings I've had. Service is quick and fast. Staff are extremely friendly and prices are extremely cheap for quantity of quality food Daniel Sim
Very small eatery with very tasty noodles and dumplings. The lady at the cashier was patient and explained the differences between some noodle dishes for me as it was my first visit. We went around 12ish and didnt have to wait for table, but we were lucky as we took the last available table.
Would definitely go back again!
Best spicy dumplings EVER. Sorry but if you don't know this place, then you're not true foodie HAHA.
I love watching that lady hand rolling them at the counter, she makes it look so easy. Dumplings on crack - not for the faint hearted, i'm sweating even when I ask for mild...suppose that's sichuan cuisine for ya
I love the dan dan noodles from this place, it is packed with flavour (totally recommend). The place is very small and crowded so you usually do need to wait. We usually buy take away because it is faster and more comfortable eating at home (again, a crowded environment.)
Great food for value. Grab the dumplings! You would not be disappointed. The handpulled noodles are a must. Go mild spice unless you are prepared to cry. Long queues so be prepared or come in non-peak hours.
Warm and comforting! The pork and chive dumplings in spicy sauce are so delicious and tender, a must! The Dan Dan noodle soup, cucumber salad, and beef noodle soup are all good choices. Great for a quick dinner.
Favorite place for dumplings and noodles. though the place is small and sometime busy. It's worth a try. Service is fast and the location is easy to locate along mt eden road.
Great food, just very small premises. Always standing outside the door to get my order and there is barely ever available seats which forces you to always get takeaway. PLEASE get a bigger premises so it is a lot more enjoyable to eat there and get more staff and reception area so we are not waiting outside of the door to pay for our order.
We decided to order takeaway from here because every time we drove past this place, there was always a huge line outside the store. So our expectation on the food was very high but sadly we were slightly disappointed.
When we ordered over the phone a lot of the things we wanted were "weekend only menu", which was not stated on the menu we were reading from. This caused us to having to choose the menu on the spot and unfortunately the lady over the phone got frustrated with us taking our time to order, which is very bad service. When we arrived to collect our order the service was very slow and we waited there for 10 mins just to collect our order even though there was only 2 people in front of us. To top it off we ordered Braised Pork Ribs on rice and it was 10% meat, 90% rice which was extremely disappointing. Wouldn't recommend ordering any rice dish from here.
Only giving it a 3.5 rating because the noodle and the dumpling were really good. Probably one of the best dumplings on dominion road as the dumplings from other places are very very oily. But after their bad service and disappointing portion of their rice dish I have a neutral opinion about this place. If you are after a cheap eat then it's a good place but don't expect them to be anything amazing like we expected.
Food has to be the best around dominion road. Service may not be the best. The place is quite small and its usually packed. I recommend eating there as the food taste a lot better than takeaway as it tends to get soggy.
So yummy! But be aware some of the dishes are too spicy🌶️ Highly suggested to make a pickup order rather than walk-in, as it's always long queue waiting outside.
Pork dumplings in spicy sauce are the best dumplings I've ever tasted! Wait times on Fri/Sat nights can be longer than 30 minutes though, but well worth it
Great place to start your adventure into spicy Chinese cuisine! Their dumplings with spicy Sichuan sauce is to die for, and if you're not a fan of the numbing feeling from the Sichuan peppers you can request them to not be put in.
Word of advice, the line tends to be quite long. If you do live nearby, I do recommend just calling in for takeaway. Ambience-wise, it is a very typical small Dominion road restaurant, but the flavour makes up for the lack of decor and ambience.
This noodle bar is always busy and the food is always appetizing. Although sometimes we waited a long time, the waiting is worthy. I like hand made noodle which is quite chewy. Dumplings with chili oil must be ordered every time. We take away the left chili source to mix noodle or something else (lol).
I love their noodle!!! I want to have their noodle every day but I don't want to wait on the queue.. sometimes they don't control the spicy level.. Even though little spicy, it is really spicy. I can't find the difference of medium spicy and little spicy. But I love their spicy noodle!
Sooo good. We got the dumplings. The sauce is a bit oily, and if you can't handle spice, get the mild. Even the mild is very spicy. We always like to keep the sauce and add our noodles to it later.
Awsome! Ignore the dining environment n long queues! Food tastes really nice! Good for take aways! Envy the guys working nearby so they can go for lunch frequently.
Cheap, fast service and great dumplings. Only have ordered takeaway but the food has always been hot when we have gotten home. Food is very tasty and a lot of variety in their dishes.
The spicy dumplings were amazing, would definitely go back for those. As it is so popular you will have to wait a little bit but we arrived just before 12 and didn't have to wait too long. If you don't mind takeaway that could be a good option as well. They also seemed to have a system of sharing the 4-seater tables for smaller groups. Maybe you can meet some new interesting people! Anyway, definitely worth a trip for lunch.
For people who love carbohydrate & hot food.
Try their Dan Dan Noodles & Dumplings.
They are so good.
If my friends didn't take me there I had totally missed out such a sinful & delicious carbs in my life.
Nothing good about for your health benefits & not fancy place to eat but it's okay to loose yourself time to time.
Alittle cramped inside so best to takeaway, but by far the best dumplings I have ever had in Auckland will definitely visit again, Pork/Cabbage dumpling 😍
Yumm-ay! It's never easy to find a good Chinese joint that serves up tasty AND spicy food. Eden Noodles is definitely one of them. The food here looks like it ll blow your brains out with its spice level but it doesn't. It's the nice kind of spiciness - a bit of heat but still very enjoyable. The dumplings are definitely not the best I've had, the filling was almost non existent (serious rip off) but tasted nice in the oil. The spicy Dan Dan noodles was tasty as. Not a big fan of the numbing spice in it (not sure what it's called). I wish they don't add it unless asked for. The numb feeling in my tongue was annoying and didn't let me enjoy the food a 100%.
Looking forward to try more items from the vast menu so I'll definitely be going back.
Great dumplings, only tried the dumplings and they are great. Haven't eaten in store as it is always busy, but the dumplings themselves are great. Awesome texture and flavours, as a note they are spicy for those who can't handle a lot of spice. But definitely worth a try.
I finally visited this place amongst the hype but - spoiler alert - I don't find it that different from other Dominion Rd Northern Chinese style places. I tried the dan dan with normal noodles (handmade or chopped noodle options would have been much nicer texture in the soup, I think, but sadly they ran out :( ) it was decently spicy for "mild" and yummy with crispy mince, but really not too different to xi'an, sha xian snack (my favourite :) ), shaolin kungfu, etc. I also got the Chinese pita bread spiced beef (aka Chinese burger) - nice but missing coriander and spices - the pita was more like actual western pita bread rather than the flat bread they do at other places. Also this one was pretty small for $5. I prefer other restaurants for this snack. The pork and chive dumplings in spicy sauce were definitely delicious and I've never seen them before - yum. Overall it's yummy, you'll like it, but it's not unique to other places so go check out one of the many others on Dominion instead of waiting in a crazy line. Recommendations for my favourite Chinese at the moment - Gogo music cafe, sha xian snack.
Good food and service! Busy, hard to get a table though. The dumplings are great, I'd recommend. Quite spicy as well (warning for the light hearted). Will be coming back here.
Favourite restaurant in Auckland, hands down. Come here if you love handmade noodles/wontons/dumplings with a kick (most things are spicy), if you don't mind waiting for a table and don't mind eating in a cramped space. Avoid dining hours as the queue can get pretty long, otherwise just order over the phone, then pick up and eat somewhere else. The longest I've waited is half an hour. My husband and I come here at least twice a month, we like to order XL noodles (top choices are dan dan both soup or dry version, or sichuan sauce)and 20 dumplings or wontons in spicy sauce to share and any extra is the next day's lunch, especially when we're being greedy and order a 3rd dish. Takeaway containers are charged at 50c each so we BYO lol. I've converted a few friends to love this place too. When we moved out of Auckland for a year, everytime we came back to visit this was always at the top of my list. Just thinking about it makes me drool. Definitely my happy place for food.
Best dumplings ever highly recommend the signature spicy dumplings so worth the wait and the wonton soup soooo good if u have a cold would definately be comming here more often dont he scated of the line if your getting takeout just walk in and order
I'm a big sucker for dumplings and anything spicy to pair with it and this is exactly why I had to visit this place.
I ordered their dumplings with spicy sauce and their dumplings with chilli and pepper sauce. The dumpling in spicy sauce was super yum and really spicy. It has shichuan in it which gives you a numbing experience so be prepared for that. The dumplings with chilli and pepper sauce was not bad, it was quite strong in pepper flavours. It didn't make the meal too pleasant.
Definitely coming back to try their popular dan dan noodles.
Everyone always raves on and on about how amazing Eden Noodles Cafe is, so I decided to try it out with a friend of mine. Their portions of their food were massive and they whole order was delivered in under 10 minutes, which was very impressive considering how busy it was.
Although they don't have the best dumplings or noodles I've ever had, they managed to charm all the Kiwis for their Westernized food. Be sure to come early or you will not find a seat, may even have to line up to get your meals.
Ate here a few months ago. Saw everyone eating the dumplings in chilli oil - however we got the spicy, slightly sweet, cold noodles instead with abundant cucumber as well as the Dan Dan mian. The Dan Dan mian's flavours mostly came from the mince which was meaty and delicious. The Dan Dan mian came in broth which was slightly spicy like the majority of Dan Dan mian which you can find in Auckland. They have a wide range of noodles and dishes at a cheap price. Next time I'm definitely trying the dumplings in chilli oil.
Awesome dumplings, possibly the best I have had in Auckland! Teeny hole in the wall that everyone knows of, usually a huge line outside especially around mealtimes.
Great rice dishes as well. Been working our way around the menu and had the bestseller dandan noodles before which was pretty good but a bit "troublesome" to eat considering theyre hot slippery noodles in a cramped table. I guess that is why a lot of people come to just takeaway food.
I wish they had gibblets tho, they stopped these as perhaps the demand was not as high. Overall, a great go-to dumpling place.
Do you love spicy + noodles like I do? Well then look no further! this place is a must try. Our new found favorite noodle place 🤤🍜. First time to try last week and we didn't disappoint. We went there @ approx 12:20 and there is a long line already of hungry diners waiting to get served. The dan dan noodles with crispy mince pork on top and slicy pork and chives dumplings are sooo good..can't complain! the food is presented well. Very affordable too! cant wait to go back and try the other dishes☺️
Been here twice now and has not disapointed. Used to drive past here after work wondering why people would be so despo to line up on the street to eat here....now I know why.
Went to take my cousin here on Friday for lunch. The place was full with a line of people waiting to get a seat. We decided to do takeaway and instantly got bumped to the front of the line.
BEST dumplings I've had to date!!!
Noodles wise, we got the dan dan and the Sichuan noodles. The dan dan was more soupy and the sichuan dry (in the right way). The flaour and spice are enough to wake you up.
Amesome portion and flavour, can be a little greasy.
Was it worth it?
Definately!
Their dumplings is definitely worth lining up for. We were lucky that it wasn't that busy when we came.
Their dumplings are made fresh in front of you and service is pretty quick.
Highly recommend
I love noodles and this place is like noodle heaven to me. The choices are endless, but it might be hard to know which to pick, as the description doesn't quite tell you how it'll taste like. Then again, I can only read the English description (perhaps the mandarin description provides more insights) and I'm not an expert in Chinese noodle dishes.
A lot of the dishes here are spicy (as indicated by the chilli symbol), but you can ask for a different level of spiciness. Note, this might take away from the actual flavour of the dish, as often times the sauce is part of the chilli mixture. But whatever I've had so far still tastes super yum to me.
Note, this place gets super busy, so if u don't have time do try to call and takeaway. Then again, the turnover and service is great. So if u do have time, I'd recommend dining in for the experience!
The dumplings were definitely the highlight for me! They appear to be handmade and crafted so delicately. I really like how you can get the dumplings in various sizes e.g just 5. I haven't noticed anywhere else on Dominion where you can get dumplings as a small side. Every dish served here was presented beautifully and makes a nice surprise from the other Chinese restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly, however the restaurant is tiny which makes it seem really authentic but I guess you have to be lucky to get a table during peak times.
I often find that if I order a chinese noodle here in Auckland, I will expect to get a "bowl of oil with spices chucked in it" . But this is not the case here! This little shop located at the top part of dominion road, with limited seating showed me otherwise. The Dandan noodle in spicy soup was good. It may look oily, but the oil doesn't really stick on to the noodle. The spices mixed well with the soup. It was Spicy though, but that's what I was looking for. Queues do build up pretty quickly, so be sure to allow plenty of time to savour the delicious noodle.
Best dumplings I have ever had! Go in on a chilly day and indulge in some spicy and sour dumplings follwed by hand rolled Dan Dan noodles. Absolutely amazing!!
Omg yum!!!!! The sauce on these dumplings are amazing, and the noodles are perfect. I like the dumplings with sauce and the spicy sauce is super good.
Really great value for what you get, although the space is a bit small but they're always busy, and I can see why!
Got the pork and chives dumplings in spicy sauce, medium spice. This is pretty spicy though! Also got the Dan Dan noodles medium spicy and those were a good spicy too, they can be a bit flavourless however! Would suggest getting a level down for spiciness.
I'm a regular and a believer. Serving what is probably Auckland's most authentic Sichuan style food. The Dan Dan noodles with hand pulled noodles are a must along with the dumplings in chilli and pepper sauce.
We decided to try out this place after hearing they make Dan Dan Noodles. As we heard this place always has a line, we decided to beat the dinner rush and only waited a few minutes for a table.
We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, the dry Sichuan Noodles and a small plate of spicy dumplings.
The Dan Dan noodles had a numbing spice which if your not use to, can be quite over whelming. We would recommend ordering a drink to go with it. We enjoy spicy food and even the medium spice was quite strong. The dry sichuan noodles had a sweet yet spicy taste. Hand made noodles were on point!
What really stood out for us was the spicy dumplings! They were amazing, sweet yet spicy! Very addictive and flavoursome!
This will definitely be one of our favour places to go for dumplings!
I am not a serious judgemental person but when it comes to food I am a bit picky. I always didn't trust people who said Dandanmen is delicious. By the look of it, it doesn't really tickle my palate.
However, somehow I was forced to try it and I finally did try it and it was DELICIOUS!!!
Dont be afraid to try it
If you don't like the pepper that makes your tongue go numb tell them not to put huajiao (schuan pepper)
Amazing chili and pepper dumplings!! Best I've ever tried! Rest of the stuff is good but too spicy. We asked for mild and ended up with mouth burning spicy. So be mindful of that when you order. Best to order as takeout, the place is too small.
I quite often order the Dumplings in Spicy and Sour Soup. (not to be confused with Spicy and Sour SAUCE).
If you are ordering takeaway, it pays to phone in. They are busy, especially around lunch time.
Delicious dumplings, flavorful soup.
Visited this venue on a Fri 24/2 7.30pm. There was a queue but with two people dining in, we could get in easily. Very narrow dining area. Seating for two, four people. More people can be seated, just need to time yourself just so more than four people can be aligned on the same row.
I ordered chicken minced pulled noodle very spicy and yum yum tofu. My mate ordered very spicy braised beef noodle. My order was just sublime and incredible flavouring. Yes I've eaten other places. But this has to be the most authentic delicious food I have come across. Thoroughly recommend this place. I guess the hype of the atmosphere, the space, being busy gave you that incredible feeling of enjoying your meal. The best taste ever? What I would suggest is to perhaps maybe install an air con', there are wall fans. The room temperature can be sweaty for others. Great place to dine, quick meal, very good price. Oh? Very friendly place too
Thurs 2/3. Dinner at Eden noodles cafe. Took a friend to try it out. Didn't wait long till we got seated for two. Ordered, must say staff here are really down to earth and your treated any differently. My friend loved her meal and I absolutely love this place. Forever my treat place to be
Their spicy beef with potato on rice was the best meal I've ordered from this place. So much rice and meat, you can actually fuse them together to get more flavour on the rice. Great dish.
The waiting time was a bit long, but the people there were friendly and kind. They offered me water, which most asian restaurants do.
Going inside, the is a walkway through the middle and the tables are pretty much on the side. It has that authentic asian restaurant feel, well considering where it's located in I can't really judge. But a really good place for a rice dish.
I find myself always having the same thing at eden noodles. Either the dan dan noodles during winter, or the dry pork with cleaved noodles or the chili chicken noodles.. but I never miss the opportunity to eat dumplings there.
Their dumplings in spicy sauce are simply to die for! I am seriously in love! Even if the queue can be quite long, when you get dumplings cravings, you just have to do what you have to do
This is one of my favourite Asian restaurants in Auckland. The place offers a huge range of noodle dishes, dumplings, as well as snack dishes. If chilli is your thing then you will definitely dig the place. I took away 0.5 from score as the place is ALWAYS packed with fans...
We didn't dine in as space is too small so had it as takeaway
Be prepared to wait for this place! But was sure worth it
Dumplings in spicy sauce were incredible, possibly one of the BEST dumplings i've had in AKL
Also had the classic dandan noodles which was so yummy!
We got mild and being an asian didn't find it too spicy
Next time, I'll try the spicy!
Will definitely go back
This place is tiny and you're lucky if you get a table. Seems that luck was on our side, as we got the last available table.
Like a lot of chinese restaurants, the menu is large and had a few funny dishes; "slobbering chicken" being the best.
We ended up ordering the spicy beef noodle soup, which was spicy and sweet. The beef was tender and noodles were fat.
BF ordered the dry pork mince noodles, it seemed spicy and BF declared it delicious.
BF also ordered a side of pork dumplings, he said they were amazing.
The service was friendly and food came out fast. I personally, wasn't blown away with Eden Noodles but I can see why it's a locals favorite.
My favourite noodle and dumpling place in Auckland! The dumplings in special spicy sauce is a must try and not to forget their handmade noodles. I do recommend to give them a ring if you want to do takeaway tho. The queue is cray.
Yes this place is not for faint hearted. We ordered what was most recommended from Zomato- dumplings in spicy sauce and Noodles with Pork mince ( was not in mood for Dan Dan), the flavours here is very different from any other Chinese places so one must try. The place is tiny and if you go there for the first time you will be little confused just seeing the kitchen. The place remains crazy busy making staff efficient but indifferent so much so the waiting staff came to my face the moment I stepped in - take away or having here? Of course the kitchen is open with coordinated staff which was some sight.
Food wise I do feel it's worth the price you pay but highly recommend going for mild to medium for spice. Wouldn't really long or plan on going back but definitely pick up takeaway If I m crossing.$10 for 15 dumplings, not bad at all.
Chinese restaurants in Auckland are better than those in Melbourne, I promise, no matter noodles or desserts.
This place is always crowded, full of people, but it's worthy to wait for a table and dine in, enjoying the spicy and hot atmosphere inside. Highly recommend.
Definitely one of the best spots on Dominion Rd! We came here tonight at around 6:30 and it was already full with people waiting. It's a pretty small place but the host was awesome and gave us menus outside and we ordered before we sat down. The food is cheeeeap so for the two of us we got large pork and chive dumplings with chilli and black pepper sauce, the famous spicy dan dan noodles, and the spicy beef noodles. Now if you usually like things medium, maybe get a mild..it is HOT! But phenomenal flavours. The dumplings were some of the best I've had in Auckland, and the dan dan noodles were as good as promised. Dinner for two with heaps of leftovers = $32. Not bad. Will definitely be coming back 👍🏼💯
If you're someone who loves spicy food you should definitely visit this place, as the food is cheap and large portioned. This place is often packed inside and it's hard to find seats so it would be the best to get food takeaway. I have once ordered over the phone when I was one street away, and when I arrived the food was ready in two mins, very efficient service :) I recommend the spicy dumplings from here, as well as the seafood + beef rice noodles. If you can't handle spicy you can also let the staff know to make it less spicy, and just add chili at your discretion.
Meals definitely big enough to share. Make sure you under order and love Sichuan pepper!! That shit will numb yo tongue. Worth a try for sure but not something I could eat everyday though! Also a little more pricey than I was willing to pay?..
The staff were super sweet and the bowls cups and stuff were all pretty clean
:)
Short & Simple review of possibly, if not, the best place to go to get your spicy fix and enjoy delicious, mouth-watering dumplings and noodle soups; along with an assortment of side dishes.
Just to be clear, if you're expecting fine-dining type service, PLEASE do not be discouraged as the priority for Chinese-based eateries are often, of course, the food.
Have been visiting on a weekly basis (usually once a week, sometimes twice) for the entirety of my Uni degree and most likely forever as the food is just THAT GOOD.
Price range: VERY affordable for most people, cost of two people ~$25, with additional side dishes $30+ which is very reasonable.Portion sizes: Fantastic and couldn't have asked for anything better.Ordering: Have a look around at what people are eating at the time, because it's most likely what's good. Flavour: Spice levels range from mild, medium, hot, extra hot, Mild is recommended unless you want to experience a fiery sensation. Other than that, just amazing.RECOMMENDED TIME OF ARRIVAL(If you want a table): Before 5:30pm on a weekday will be your BEST option as traffic picks up and lines get longer around 5:45pm-7:30pm. TURNAROUND TIME(If you want a table): Roughly 15-20mins, so be prepared, it will be well worth the wait :)
Ordering takeaways?: ~15-20 mins for your food depending on what it is.SIDE DISHES: Potato slices tossed in a delicious spicy sauce(quite hot), Bamboo shoots mixed in a numbing (sichuan peppercorn mix) sauce, Spicy mouthwatering chicken(HIGHLY RECOMMEND) - tender, melt in your mouth, few slices of cucumber in it also, Beef jerky - not the greatest, but you be the judge.
Happy eating + enjoy.
Amazing dumplings. Craving their dry handmade noodle minced dish alongside it as well. Expect a line but worth all the waiting especially when you're hungry.
Best dumplings ever.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our go to dish is 'Dumplings in Spicy Sauce'. Super delicious.
Dan dan mien to die for. The dan dan mien here is seriously so good. The dumplings also tastes good but the sauce is a bit too sweet for me
Home of the best dumplings I've ever tasted! I went here for the first time last week and have already been back 3 times! The place is always super packed so we've learnt to call and order over the phone for takeaway prior to arrival to reduce wait time. Noodles aren't my thing (still nice) but the dumplings here are AMAZING!!

Don't judge a book by its cover this restaurant brings the goods. It was an overwhelming experience walking into a tiny little restaurant jam packed with people but I am so glad I stuck it out and took a seat! Felt so authentic & the food 😍 INCREDIBLE
I tried the dan dan noodles (recommended dish) and the dumplings with spicy sauce. The lovely lady who took our order asked us how spicy we wanted which I thought was nice, probably just by looking at us she knew we wanted mild 😂
If you're a dumpling fan you need to try them here!
Came here last night as its been in my bookmarked for a while now. I expected it to be small because of previous reviews but I never imagined it to be that small and crammed. We were lucky enough to get a seat right at the back. It was always full of people getting takeaways. Looking in from the outside I don't think I would have gone in but because of the reviews I've seen on zomato I had to try it.
We ordered the dandan noodles, homemade noodles with pork ribs & the dumplings in spicy soup.
Everything was really good and had a nice taste to it. I was pleasantly surprised. The dumplings were a winner for us 👌🏼
Just goes to show you don't judge a book by its cover.
Will be back to try other things on the menu but maybe this time I'll go for takeaway 🙂
This place is amazing!
Had been hearing about this place for the last few weeks and decided to try it out on a rainy cold day in Auckland. So so glad to have come here.
Now, the food is SPICY. More so than any other Chinese food places I've tried. It's full of oil but non-greasy. It makes you sweat, makes you're tongue numb but you don't want to stop eating, it's that good. They even keep a box of tissues at each table rather than a few napkins. That should be some indication.
Between the two, we got chicken mince in pita bread, chicken mince with noodles and Dan Dan noodles.
Everything was delicious. The pita was tiny, a few bites of a small pita bread with a spicy chicken mince. The Dan Dan noodles were in a delicious broth with crispy pork mince on top. The chicken noodles were a big bowl of chicken mince in oil, topped with handmade noodles. Noodles were thick, chewy and perfect. All dishes were presented very beautifully.
The place is small so be ready to share a table with strangers. But service is quick and you can see the food being cooked behind the payment counter.
Next time, will try the dumplings in spicy sauce. They looked delicious.
Cannot recommend this place enough. It's an absolute must if you like really really spicy food. Seriously, it's spicier than you think!
Sichuan cuisine wise, this place is 10/10. Amazing food, so spicy and superbly cheap (keep in mind extremely oily). I completely agree that the food is totally worth the hype. But my experience last night was ghastly. It was so packed, that I felt like I was shoved into a train in Beijing. Huge crowd outside and inside chock-a-blocked. Forget about seating, just to order take away and pick up was a night mare. Staff was very lovely, did not fail to be polite in spite of the 30 people squeezed around me. Even though my order was wrong I don't mind. Food was good none the less.
BEST Dumplings in Auckland !
Yum and cheap no other comments.
Cold chicken and Dan Dan also very nice
Definitely I go there again
Thanks for nice food guys!
Came to see what the hype was all about. The food is good, there is quite a variety of noodles and plenty of different side dishes with the choice of having it so spicy that you wont be able to feel your tongue afterwards, or just a little spice to give it a kick, or if you fancy, no spice at all.
At the time we went, they had run out of particular noodle, the chef was nice enough to come tell us and said they will use a different type of noodle but will give us more than usual because they had run out, they apologised and made sure we were ok with it.
Only problem with Eden Noodles, is the seating. They don't have many tables and only sits around 10-15 people at a time. They do have takeaway options however.
I recommend this place, if you are after a hearty meal on a cold night.
Best DanDan ever if you can take the heat. Very Beijing greasy spoon cafe. Love it if you can find a seat. Next the hot pot looks good next step
We turned up shortly after the opened for the day and within 10 minutes almost all of the tables were gone. After reading lots of reviews we went with the hot dumplings and the noodle soup. When people say that they're spicy and order mild they mean it!!! The sauce on the dumplings is incredible- sweet and spicy and just delicious. The noodles didn't stand out in comparison and everything is quite oily but definitely worth trying out.
The food here is amazing every time, the handcut noodles are my favourite! And make sure you get a side of the sichuan pickles (chinese kimchi)- i wish i had discovered it sooner. Cheap and delicious, I would definitely recommend this place, but the lunchtime rush is pretty busy so it's better for me if you don't come.
This place is HOT! When the tables have tissue boxes rather than napkins, be prepared to clearing that blocked nose that's bothered you. Please heed my warning when I say this place is so spicy, that even Satan
Himself would be running to find ice water to drink. The service was helpful even with limited english. The food came out quick which I was happy about. I ordered the beef jerky, the seafood dumplings and pork noodles. The jerky was cold, very spicy and not entirely the best. The dumplings were buttery goodness. They were soft and in a tasty broth, however again very spicy! The pork noodles were once again in an excellent broth, however my mouth burnt so bad I had to take it home and finish it there. Now don't get me wrong, I love spicy food when it has a purpose. This however was lathered in chilli so be forewarned. Eat at your own risk, or just order without the spice and save your tastebuds from being sent through hell.
If you're after noodle soup this is the best place to go! We went at lunchtime and it's always packed with line out door. Our fav was the Dan Dan spicy soup (crispy pork) which punched flavour. We also got the spicy beef (not as spicy as pork) and dumplings in spicy sauce which was still yum even...

This is a nondescript cafe marked only by the throngs of people waiting outside for a table or their takeaway. And for good reason too. Having heard so much about it, I wondered if it would live up to its hype. If you love spicy food, this should be your new favourite place. My recommendations are to try the dan dan noodles and the dumplings in spicy sauce. Absolute awesomeness!
Meal for two cost us around $25-$30 which was pretty fair to me.
I love spicy, I love this place. Most of items are tasty and fair price to me. Perhaps there is the best authentic Si'chuan snack restaurant in New Zealand. Because they could present the exactly spicy taste. If you also strong at spicy, do not hesitate and just try any item there.
Loved this place! If you like spicy food you will really enjoy. Beware it is very hot and even medium is damn not. My husband couldn't handle the spiciness. I on the other hand found it fantastic. It's funny looking around ad everyone is blowing their noses and sweating due to the spiciness.
We ordered the dumplings which were absolutely delicious, and the beef noodles and Dan Dan noodles
Only thing I don't like is the restaurant itself. It's very small and you often have to wait for a table, it didn't look very clean either (floor was filthy). You also have to go outside to find a bathroom. I'd recommend getting takeaway as it's not a pleasant place to dine
I've heard such great things about this place and finally came here tonight for dinner. I've also heard how crazy the line can get and how busy it is inside so we came early at around 6pm and managed to get the last free table.
The restaurant itself is really tiny, the staff speak little english, service is poor and the seating is cramped. Even at 6pm, people were lining up just to get takeaways.
We ordered the dan dan hand pulled noodles with crispy pork mince in a spicy soup and the dumplings in spicy sauce. I ordered spicy noodles and medium-spicy dumplings and WOW it was HOT, I think my tolerance is pretty good for spicy food but it was crazy hot! Fortunately I could still taste the delicious flavours.
The dumplings were my favourite dish! The dumpling wrappers are perfect and not too thick and doughy like you get at other places, they were so soft and silky. The sauce with it was amazing too, it had a very subtle sweetness to it which balanced the spicyness. I loved this dish!
The noodles were great too but just too spicy for me, I loved the crispy pork mince on top for a different texture and love that the noodles are hand pulled. The broth is also so full of flavour. This place really does serve authentic sichuan cuisine and I cant wait to return and try more on the menu.
I give this place a 4/5 based ONLY on the food, as I don't particularly like the atmosphere inside, it's too cramped, hot and stuffy, along with average service.
After hearing all the good reviews about this place, we decided to come. We had the kumara noodles with sliced beef, spicy dumplings and chicken wonton. The noodle soup is so flavoursome, i would say they cooked the soup with a mixature of beef, tripes and stomach because the soup didn't have a clear beef texture, so im still unsure whether i like the noodles or not. But like everyone said the spicy dumplings are so amazing. The skin of the dumpling is so smooth and the spicy sauce has a hint of sweetness which makes it really addictive. Overall, a good cheap place for a quick meal
Things to get: "dumplings in spicy sauce"- no idea what's in the sauce but it is a magical, magical brew. Get heaps, you will kick yourself if you don't. "Noodles with crispy pork mince and pickles on top in spicy sauce (dry)"- amazing. Cheap, delicious, spicy goodness. Medium is a good whack of spice.
If you only try one dish it has to be the spicy dumplings. We usually get the dumplings at least once a week they are the best I have ever had. Just enough sweetness and spiciness to be tasty! Have had other noddle dishes there but nothing beats the dumplings in my opinion!
Tried the dandan with rice noodles (#1) and the braised sliced beef with kumara noodles (#10).
Although it took us a while to get inside after waiting in line, the food prep was very quick! Presentation of the noodles was the best I've ever seen at any Chinese noodle joints.
Our dishes included pickled red cabbage over the top - kind of like a crunchy Chinese version of sauerkraut. I loved this touch.
Kumara noodles were somewhat bland; noodles could have used more salt when boiling. Soup that came with it was okay, but the meat was nice.
The dandan was outstanding. Well seasoned, noodles were salted well, the soup was perfect. My partner thinks it could have contained more sichuan pepper, but it was just right for me - I prefer it when my face doesn't go completely numb.
If you're happy to wait for about 10 mins in a line on weekends, this place is well worth the visit. I look forward to coming back.
There's a certain hype around Eden Noodle Cafe and going their for the first time, I absolutely loved this place and the food they serve.
Yes, people can complain about how they need to wait in line, the cramped spaces and its grungy-ness.
However the essence for me of a great food joint is ultimately the food that they serve and what the food tastes like. For a very affordable price you are tasting the finest homemade Chinese noodles you can get in Auckland city and Scrumptious dumpling for barely over $15.00.
Our group all had a voracious appetite which was quelled and satisfied by Eden Noodle Cafe.
Showstopper: The dumpling and noodles are both fantastic dishes.
Overall Grade: A
I've wanted to dine here for a very long time and this weekend I finally got the chance! As we approached this small restaurant, we noticed a massive line that reached outside the store! We joined the line and waited about 5 minutes before being seated (there are not many dining tables available inside, so prepare to wait a while- we were lucky). The menu was very extensive and confusing as there were no pictures to illustrate the dishes.. Nonetheless, we chose dishes that sounded most appealing.. I can't remember what we ordered as our initial dishes were not available :( so instead, I asked the lady what was good and ordered it (anything with chicken is good enough for me lol). My dish was a noodle soup type with pieces of chicken - very nice. My partners was sauce based with chicken mince- also very nice. But the star of the night was the last dish we ordered - the pork dumplings in hot sauce. Omg soooo good! So good that we went back the next day to order more haha. Service here is pretty atrocious, but given that the workers don't speak much English, it's not surprising- the food makes up for it lol. I'll definitely come back again in the near future!
Went here on a quiet Sunday evening. A very interesting experience and we felt as if we had been transported into Hong Kong. Communication and service was my main issue as they got our order wrong and the level of spiciness mixed. The famous Dan Dan noodles were sold out aswell. The food however was very flavorsome! We ordered the dumplings and some other hand made noodles which I couldn't make out.
It's always a good sign when you see people queuing to get into a restaurant, and this place has queues all the time.
Eden noodle cafe is the place for a tasty noodle dish ( they also do rice and dumplings) don't go here if you're looking for a quiet, intimate dinner for 2. It's rowdy, busy and cramped but the food is great.
We had a selection of dishes, they were all good.
Tip: order mild if you like a hint of chili, medium is challenging enough!
Best mafaking dumplings in town. Some real spice and kick for spicy food fans!

I like their noodles, as they serve it very hot and you can select what size. I also enjoyed their tripe. People line up to grab a hot meal from this place, and I always see it full. their dumplings are pretty good as well. will come back.
Mind glowingly amazing dumplings and the sauce that comes with it. Have been to this place twice and both times the dumplings .. noodles and snacks left us speechless. It was soo good. No wonder there is always a rush and have to wait for a table but all good things take time. Good part is you can choose what size serving you want to go for... the price is also moderate i.e. two people can easily have a decent dinner for maximum $25 dollars.

A Hidden gem. A small Chinese noodle/dumpling house that is always full. Would recommend trying the dumplings here.
I went there for dumpling and noodles. They were absolutely delicious with great seasoning, and the he prices are very reasonable. The space is limited so can't cater for big groups but definitely a great takeaway option.
This place offers the best dumplings I've eaten. This is my guilty pleasure! Very cheap also! Very busy all the time which is a great sign! Highly recommend!

I've gotten Eden Noodles takeaway a few times as I live around the corner. The place is pretty small so if you live close by, takeaways is preferable. They are closed for Chinese New Year, but when they are open, there is often a queue out the door. In summer it gets super hot inside which can be quite uncomfortable. On my last visit, I ordered the dan dan noodles with rice noodles and 5 x dumplings (wontons) in spicy sauce. The spice level is right on the edge of my comfort zone but the food is so tasty, it works. Super tasty and for $15 for noodles and a side of dumplings, reasonably priced. The menu has red chills next to the spicy dishes which is most of their dishes. These might be too spicy for some so be warned. Luckily there are some options that aren’t spicy, though I haven’t tried them.
Photo shot at home as this was a takeaway meal.
I'm a huge fan of spicy food, and this is my number 1 go to place for spicy takeouts. The noodles are authentic, delicious and great for value. While there is a number of places in/around Auckland serving spicy Dan Dan Noodles, Eden Noodles Cafe is without a doubt the champion among them. In addition to regular noodles, they also serve handmade noodles and knife cut noodles, the latter comes in the form of thick chewy wide noodles and is a personal favourite of mine. However, great noodles is not the only thing this great place has going for it.The dumplings in spicy sauce are hands down the best spicy dumplings in Auckland (the spot for best non-spicy dumplings go respectfully to Barilla Dumpling). It's a must try for anyone interested in spicy food. The rice dishes are also surprisingly unique and well-balanced. The store clerk wasn't kidding describing them as "super delicious". Further, if you are bringing a friend who can't handle much spicy food, the non-spicy Potatoes & Beef is definitely a very solid choice for them. Their rice dishes have a somewhat different take from most Chinese takeaways, so it's definitely worth a try. Finally, the Sichuan snacks are also highly authentic, and their spicy chicken is the best I've had in Auckland. Be warned though that compared to the rest of their menu, the Sichuan snacks may seem small in portion for their price tags.Recommended Dishes:1. Dumplings in Spicy Sauce2. Braised Beef with Potatoes on Rice3. Slobbery Chicken (portion is a bit small)
DUMPLINGS HERE ARE FIIIIIIIRE!!!!!!! MUST TRY LOL.
Slurp up some delicious noodles, wontons and dumplings. This place specialises in spicy dishes so I was apprehensive. We had the spicy Dan Dan noodles - low spice level, wontons, pork mince and chives dumplings and ox tripe noodles. Each of the dishes were fragrant and had a flavourful soup.
I particularly enjoyed the wontons which had a fragrant mushroom, prawn and preserved vegetable seafood broth. The wonton skin was silky and the meat was well seasoned.
The dumplings were juicy and the skin wasn't too thick.
The dan dan noodles were very spicy for me but it was so yummy. The deep fried minced pork with the Sichuan peppers and bouncy noodles was a great combination. To my surprise, the ox tripe noodles was also quite nice though I wouldn't eat a whole bowl to myself.
It was self-service like most Chinese restaurants. The portions were good for the price -$12 for 20 dumplings/wontons. Noodles around $10. Cleanliness could be improved but I would still come back for the food!
Decided to lunch here as a friend loves this place.
Very busy little restaurant with many people lining up outside looking for a table or ordering take out. Clearly this is a very popular eatery to not only the Asian community but to all judging from the people on the que. we didn't have to wait long to get a table, I'm guessing customers know the procedure, eat and gap!
Staff are attentive, even with so many to accommodate! Food came out reasonably quickly, surprisingly enough since there was so many orders to go through!
We ordered a set of dumplings, triple soup noodle and another dish I forgot ops haha. The dumplings here are really good! I'd definitely come back for the dumplings, the sauce they come in really compliments the dumplings. I'm not the biggest fan of traditional Chinese spicy dishes as they all taste the same to me. The noodles were good, very good portion for the price and good ratio of meat to noodles.
This is a typical Chinese restaurant, like literally something you'd expect to see in China, quite humbling actually, it reminds me a lot of China. it has an extensive menu so have fun picking a dish haha.
If I'm in the again area again I'd definitely get some dumplings!
Amazing food! I love the flavours- the dumplings in spicy sauce was a huge winner for me! The prices are low and the portions are huge. Would definitely come back again
Extremely authentic sichuan home food. You will try their dumplings in sauce and you will love it. Some dishes are very traditional and as a result may not suit all tastebuds. Try out their "generic" dishes like dumplings or generic dishes before going adventerous.
Oh yes please this place 👌🏻
I usually like to try out places a few times before reviewing them so I held back! Eden Noodles Cafe is a small place up top Dominion Road near the CBD. They do Sichuan cuisine and they do it well.
The first time I came here, I was greeted by the sight of a massively long line. Long lines can mean one of two things: the place lives up to the hype, or the hype isn't worth it. The interior is very small; there aren't many tables so many customers order takeout. Regulars know to be courteous and many just eat and get out ASAP. But that may still mean you might need to wait a while or just give in and takeaway.
I saw a couple enjoying their dumplings and by the way they consumed it, I instantly knew I had to try it. They were the spicy pork dumplings - or "E1" on the Chinese menu. Not at all disappointed. It was spicy, it was hot, the sauce was sweet and the dumplings were not fancy. They were more like the vehicle with which you use to transport the sauce into your mouth. That sauce was amazing and never fails to disappoint me.
My friends and I always order these dumplings and then something else. A recent favourite of ours has been the kumara noodles. These are like a thicker version of vermicelli.
Service has been rather good to us. It is pretty cramped inside and rather than wait or ask them, we usually help ourselves to the utensils and sauces if it's not already on our table.
Definitely a must try place!
People lining out the door is one thing I remember about this place! Several times we have drove past and seen small crowds waiting outside. With minimal seating, the majority of customers are taking away (unless they are lucky enough to get a table!). There is some interesting options on the menu, such as kumara noodles, happy yum jelly and pork intestines.
We ordered the Tofu hot pot and the combination Veggies in spicy sauce. On a busy Saturday night there was a 20 minute wait. The dishes were tasty and quite spicy (definitely live up to there name!) Portion size was decent and the prices of the dishes are really reasonable.
Their dumplings in spicy sauce is amazing! Had their hot style cold noodles with shredded chicken...that was a little disappointing. Will definitely be trying out their other dishes
This is a tiny little restaurant and like many of the other reviews had noted, it was packed when we arrived. We ended up ordering to go instead, which meant only waited about 10minutes to get our Dan Dan Noodles and Spicy Beef Noodles ($20 altogether).
The noodles had really good texture and weren't overlooked. We got just "small spicy" on both our dishes. It was quite pleasant and worked well with the stronger flavours of the Dan Dan Noodles but really overpowered what was actually a really lovely broth with the beef noodles. I realised half way through that if I held the noodles up and let the chilli oil drop off that I could better taste the beefy flavour.
Overall a nice little cheap eat. More a place where you go so you can say "been there, done that" as opposed to a regular go-to dinner spot - mainly because it is just waaaay too busy.
We are currently making our way through Metro Top 10 Cheap Eats 2015 - and this is by far the best so far! I was worried about the queues and being shoved into a pokey corner while everyone gawked at me from outside waiting for their table, but it was not like that at all! We arrived at "peak time" 7pm on a Thursday. There were two couples before us, and we were wanting a table for three. We probably waited max ten minutes. We had our order taken and we paid during this time, and when we sat down to eat it came in 5 minutes! It wasn't long at all. The staff member who took our order was extremely friendly. There were plenty of English menus. We weren't rushed out the door. The place isn't one for decor, but it was clean, and it's part of the whole experience as far as I am concerned. I don't need to go on about how amazing the food is and everyone already can figure that out by reading others' posts, but five quick words to describe would be: spicy, fragrant, generous portions, and CHEAP! My partner and I ate for under $30 and I couldn't even finish mine. We will definitely be back as the menu is huge! Definitely changed my perspective on what I often find to be bland same-same Chinese. This was a flavour explosion!!
One of the best dumpling places in town... The ambience in this place makes you feels like you are in China! Some hole-in-wall eatery in ChengDu perhaps? The Dan Dan noodles were the best ones I had outside of China. It was very close to the ones I had in Sichuan years ago. The dumplings were to die for! They made it fresh and you can even see them wrapping it behind the cashier ...
There's always a line and that should tell you something about this place. Best dumplings I've had in Auckland and I usually order either dumplings in chilli sauce (hot) or Dan Dan Noodles. Very reasonable prices and great taste. Go here now.
Pots overboiling, dumplings getting filled and furious frying, it all happens at ENC while you're waiting in the long ass line here.
It's busy because the noodles are god damn amazing. People recommend the dan dan noodles, but honestly they're the choice if you're looking for something pure and simple. Id recommend something from the handmade menu.
The handmade Sichuan style noodles (dry) are what you want. Thick, ropey noodles sit on top of a lake of beef mince, chilli oil, Sichuan peppercorns and peanuts. It's garnished with pickled cabbage and scallions. Make sure you mix it up when you eat it. It's too easy to get carried away with the noodles before you even get started on the sauces!
Other recommended ones are the dumplings in spicy sauce. The dumplings are silky and made fresh each day. The sauce is really sweet, so it's a welcome change compared to the heat and savoury of the other dishes.
All in all, start heading there now. Call ahead if you don't want to see the show of cooking while you wait 5 minutes to order.
P.s. very spicy or not at all.
Went for dinner with my Chinese wife and in-laws who picked out far too many dishes for us.
Usual Sichuan food, in general it was good but not great. It's simple hot, spicy, soupy dishes. The beef wasn't very good though, I've definitely had better outside of China. The place itself is cosy, a few 2 and 4 person tables. Not much space to hang around while waiting for a table. Basically just like being back in China. Worth a look as some of the noodle dishes are pretty good.
Had came here with my partner for the second time after so many years. Dan Dan noodles still taste how it used to back when i tried it for the first time which was super yummy!. I like how they have different sizes which is great for sharing as i can never finish an entire bowl of noodles on my own. We also had the dumplings on spicy sauce. The sauce was a good balance of spicy and sweet but the dumplings was just okay. As for customer service it was none existence but i guess they make a lot of money so hell to the customer service right....
Have been here twice now! Really well priced authentic food. Dumplings in the spicy sauce were amazing! Have tried the sad cold noodle and dry noodle in the sauce previously as well both of which were very good. Would definitely always prefer to take away as the restaurant is quite crowded and busy, also would recommend ordering mild if you are a medium spice eater. Portions were generous both occasions and well priced and would definitely return.
Been wanting to come here for a while now and I finally got the chance today. Came at around 12 and it was already packed with a couple of people by the door. Lucky we got a table just as people were leaving.
We ordered the dan dan noodles in medium spicy sauce, dumplings in Medium spicy and the X-large wonton soup.
Wow! They sure weren't kidding when they said spicy! To me, medium spicy was just right but I think the Bf didn't cope so well. Oops haha.
The dan dan was nice but to me the mince lacked flavour and I had to add some soy sauce to mine. I did enjoy the dumplings though and the sauce that came with it. It was a surprisingly sweet spicy sauce that was really tasty. The wontons were also nice and we used the leftover sauce from the dumplings as a dipping sauce. Win-win!
Overall, it was a really tasty meal. One that I'm keen to go back to whenever I'm keen for some spicy noodles and dumplings. Lost some points for the cleanliness of the place though. If they had more seatings and a cleaner interior, this place definitely has the potential for bigger success.
Food is fantastic. Their spicy dumplings are fresh and juicy. The saurce is nicely done. My favourite are won tons, dan dan noodles and beef stripes spicy soup. Simply divine. If you cannot handle spice, dont order any spice. Seatings are crowded and limited. Long wait and sometimes can be chaotic.
Eden Noodle or "Dan Dan Mien" as the Chinese call it, is a small noodle house at the top of Dominion Road that attracts queues that flow out the door on a daily basis. They are most famous for their huge variety of spicy noodle soups.
Taste: 4.5/5 my favourite is the wontons which are so soft and smooth they almost melt in your mouth. Sometimes the food can be a little salty or spicy so be sure to let them know how spicy you want your meal
Value: 5/5 great portions, great price. A true cheap eat.
Ambience/Decor: 3/5 It's pretty cramp in there
Overall: 4.5/5 If you like spicy noodles that tingle the tongue, you will love Eden Noodles Cafe
Tip: Come during non-peak times as it can get pretty busy at meal time
I have been here couple of times so far. The level of spiciness is just right for me!Really love dan dan noodles and their dumplings. Special spicy peanuts and snack combination are also go-to dish for me,kinda reminds me of what to have in Si Chuan restaurants in China.
The only headache is this place is too small. Can't figure out why the owner doesn't want to expand to accommodate more customers. If you come at peak hours,I can guarantee it will be really difficult to find a seating area, you will end up packing stuff to take away.
Came here for a quick early dinner. Was busy even at 16:20! Walking in here it just smells absolutely amazing! We had the large dandan handmade noodle medium spiciness as well as the medium sized all pork dumpling in a sour and spicy soup. It's pretty well priced for these 2 dishes being around $22.
We left feeling full and satisfied, will be back to try more items.
I call this place 'happiness in a bowl' the food is truly amazing
Our go to dishes are dumplings in spicy sauce - make sure you order medium spicy because their Hot is taste bud numming HOT!
Dan Dan noodles is yum too!
The only issue is the place is too small and crowded if you visit this place at peak times you will find this place not soo clean
Recommended for those who like spicy dumplings and noodles! However recently I feel super thirsty and sleepy after having their meals. MSG ???
Must tries:
- spicy dumpling (Zhong Sui Jiao) which comes in a sweet and spicy sauce.
- spicy beef noodle (niu rou mian). Good broth! They have different types of handmade noodles so try them all and find your favourite!
The space is quite small so expect queuing. You order and pay before you sit down. Ambience is like any Asian restaurant, it's a place to eat and go..
They also do takeaway orders, recommend to do a phone order and then pick the food up later as they can be quite slow!
Definitely recommend getting the dan dan noodles and the dry noodle with chicken mince sprouts and chilli from here they are delicious!! I love spicy food but their medium spicy is really really spicy so be careful lol! Also tried their dumplings with spicy sauce and they are tasty too.
Ordered the dumplings with spicy sauce and chicken soup wontons. Dumplings were amazing, easily some of the best I've had. Usually asked for fried dumplings but I went with what was on the menu and I was not disappointed.
Chicken wonton soup was a little over peppered but was a nice easy meal.
Very small space and quiet atmosphere but food was cheap and great. The store also only sell iced tees and aloe drinks.
Eden noodle is a drug. I See the staff more than my own mother. Ask for chopped noodles you won't regret it. Extra intestine, yes please. Xx Eden noodle Cafe
This place was suggested by a friend. He said this place has the best Chinese noodles in Auckland and the price isn't that high. It turned out he was right. This place is so gorgeous that I want to come for every lunch. The only drawback is the queue. It's gonna take too long before you can order.
After a long time I finally managed to try this place (usually there's a too long queue!) and I wasn't disappointed. Probably the best dumplings I had in Auckland so far, loved the dan dan noodles. I can't wait to go back again to try other dishes! It's not a five just because of the tiny size of the place, but I guess it's part of it's charm.. 😄
Hands down best noodle place in AKL. If you're going to get something, get the Dan Dan noodles (go easy on the spice though. I enjoy hot food but haven't been able to try anything over medium). This place is always hectic, and I've never seen the line not go out the door. Great prices, large portions and definitely worth the wait.

OKay so if youre going to eden noodle house you HAVE TO get the Dan Dan Noodles in Spicy Soup and the dumplings in spicy sauce. THEY ARE SO GOOD. I cant really handle spicy food but its SO good I push through, even if my lips are burning I keep going. The dumplings are such a good size, and the sauce is too bloody die for.
When I get the Dan Dan noodles I chuck the noodles in a seperate bowl and chuck some of that spicy sauce from the dumplings oh em and its bloody delish folks.
I've ordered the yum yum tofu and it doesnt quite do it for me. I dont really like tofu so thats probably why but its kinda dry, its stuffed with carrots and lil bits but it doesnt come with sauce. I suppose you could just chuck some spicy sauce from the dumplings on it.
The Chinese Pita bread with long beans was..... just not nice. Once again no sauce, it was just flavourless beef in pita bread.
I really want to try the sad cold noodles mixed with cucumber sheets in spicy sauce. Also this place is awesome for take out - its good to dine in aswell but it gets busy really quick and its hectic and you gotta serve yourself but thats alg.
Oh also the dumplings in spicy sauce aRE SPICY. id get mild. medium if youre brave and hot if youre out of your f***** mind.
so so so so so goooood. make sure you get the dumplings in spicy sauce - so juicy and fat and you can see the lady hand roll right in front of you, and hand made dan dan noodles. chinese pancake also very good (but chicken mince one almost too spicy) and tofu also v good as a refresher. v spicy food but you get used to it and i find it is addictive. always really busy so best to go earlier rather than later if you want any hope of a table. otherwise takeaway best option
One may think that this pony is a one trick wonder - but it really isn't. The noodles are of course their bread and butter and is amongst the best bowl in Auckland bar nothing. Aside from that though, are they hand-prepared dumplings which are truly divine (I'd recommend the hot pepper dumplings, they are a true twist on what dumpling flavouring could be if not for typical vinegar). You'll always have to wait for a seat during lunch and dinner but that just speaks volumes about it's quality of food. Very close to reaching 5.0, if the cleanliness was improved a bit more it may well have scored perfectly for me.
My boyfriend got us takeaways from here last night - luckily didn't have to experience the crowds! He recounted people fighting for tables to eat here...
I am so glad he ordered mild, even though I normally go for medium or hot with other cuisines, Eden Noodles' mild was on fire.
The dumplings in spicy sauce were delicious!! So addictive with the sweet yet spicy as hell sauce.
We also got the Dan Dan noodles which were good too!
Definitely do not get hotter than mild if it is your first time eating there and you aren't used to Sichuan food. I could not believe how spicy the mild dishes were!
But delicious, and encouragement to better my spice tolerance so I can try some of their spicier dishes! :D :D
Another popular eatery in Dominion road. The aisle is so narrow .. Toilet! Outside! Be ready for the long queue! If you get a table, please don't mind being watched while you eating Hahah.
-DanDan noodle is a must try!
-I don't like pork but I love their pork dumplings!!
-I don't remember the name of the dish in the second picture, but it is the best thing I've ever had in Dominion road 🙀
Great food, great company, So happy
For some of the most delicious dumplings in Auckland, Eden Noodles always delivers! I haven't actually tried any of the other dishes on the menu, but we go back at least once a fortnight for the dumplings. The line is usually out the door, and it is almost impossible to get a table, but takeaway is a reliable option.
The service is adequate, but it is the food that is the real star of this restaurant. After a 20-30 minute wait in line (usually outside on the footpath in the frigid winter air), being able to dig into the containers of delighful food at home makes it worth it. We always order the dumplings in plain soup for me, and with spicy soup for my partner. I occasionally over order so that I have dumplings for lunches the next day too. Pork and chives are my personal favourite flavour. The boiled dumplings are cooked to perfection, and the filling is always hot and delicious.
My recommendation for this restaurant is to phone in your order to minimize the wait time, but if you do end up standing in line the food makes it worth the wait.
If you are not looking for a fancy place to dine but only keen on yummy food, this is a very good chioce ! Dumplings in spicy sause are my favourite!!!!! I ve been to Si Chuan,China, where is the hometown of spicy dumplings. I can say Eden noddle's spicy dumplings are even better than the one I had in China! Love it!
Below average service and environment. Really good dumplings and noodles that doesn't have much soup in it. The steamed pork/beef/ribs with rice powder is highly recommended as a side.

I ordered a beef noodle soup (mild) via phone, and when I come here its packed again, yes again, always want to try it out but because its always packed. food's yummy but i think even mild is way too spicy for me, and have no idea how new zealanders handle such spiciness. service is not really good. since they have so many people even im the one who ordered the food the food is ready but no one cares, and even i say hi i wanted to pay and take the food out. they just cant hear me. but food is good still

Dan Dan noddles very nice. Best noodle restaurant in city. My favorite add.
I used to bus/walk/drive past this place and noticed long lines out the door every lunch. So I decided to try it based on another friends recommendation. The place doesn't look super appealing from the inside, but the smell inside is amazing. They have quite an extensive menu printed in Chinese and also translated into English (some of the translations are hilarious). I have ordered the spicy and sour chive dumplings (mild) and Dan Dan noodles. Both are delicious. The prices are really good, and the flavours are intense. If you are order takeaway, they tell you a number and you usually stand outside if there are no seats inside available (which is often as seating is limited and the place is popular) - the wait isn't terribly long (don't let the number of people outside the restaurant put you off). I highly recommend this place, especially if you have never tried Sichuan cuisine. I think you might be blown away by the unique flavours.Edit: I have been a few more times to order my 'usual' of dumplings in spicy and sour soup. Because of the language barrier, sometimes orders can get lost in translation - which happened to me today. I received dumplings in some sweet syrupy sauce - which tasted nice, but not as nice as the spicy and sour soup. My gf one time received a medium dumpling when she ordered (and paid) for a large size. Also, because of the size of the place, people often cram in to line up to order/pickup and occasionally some rude people push in. It can get a bit cramped in there - so watch out!
Finally had a chance to eat here for the first time. I had heard so much about it prior. Its a small noodle joint that seems to be always fully packed and with people even lining up outside. Had the Dan Dan spicy noodles with mince pork and the spicy beef noodles with handmade noodles. Did not disappoint - was very happy with the flavour, portion size and price. Only thing to note: meals are 95% noodles 4% sauce and 1% meat, in my case with the spicy beef noodles there were none, just some peanuts. Still yum but was wondering whether they gave me the wrong order or not.
Good:
Flavourful
Cheap
Friendly service
Good portions
Bad:
Small and crowded
Overall would come back for more - threepointfive Yums
Amazing!!! Best chinese i have experienced in auckland. Try the pork dumplings in hot and spicy sauce.. Spicy beef soup with rice noodles is delicious!!! Takeaway recommended.. Fast efficient service!!
Takeaway is highly recommended unless you don't mind dining on another customers lap. Ordered the spicy beef noodle soup - because I'm all about my beef. The spice was murderously delicious, the noodles were average but the beef, the BEEF was...so R Kelly - "my minds telling me no, but my body, my body's telling me yes", if they ever served a meal with JUST beef and a side of rice, I would move to Dominion Rd immediately. You guys need to change your name to Eden Beef Cafe because your noodles are seriously average.
OMG! This is definitely the best Chinese food I've ever had since I came to NZ!
Regardless of the poor environment and service, the food is absolutely amazing! We had dan dan noodles, meat dumplings in spicy sauce, spicy cucumbers and special shredded chicken breast. The food came fast, but ALL of them are so gooooooodddddd!
I only ordered the least spicy but it's still hot! So be careful with your choice lol! And all you have to do is to enjoy the meal!
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Auckland so far. I loveeee spicy food and Sichuan cuisine is the best answer for Chinese food.
It's always packed (because it's just tiny shop), normally you have to wait for seat about 10-15 mins. The food is cheap with generous quantity. I've tried few dishes and ended up ordering only these 2 dishes EVERY TIME I go there!
Pork & Chive dumplings in sour and spicy soup and Number 21 under noodle menu and both are in medium spicy :)
Give it a try if you love spicy food. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This place is always packed. The food is great if you can handle spicy food. The dandan noodle and dumpling are my favourite. Don't expect too much from the environment, it's hot with no air con inside but the food is absolute to die for.
I love this place. Like others I tried it because it's always packed (not just because it's small) and usually has a queue outside desperate to get their spicy fix as well. Pork and Chive dumplings in special sauce are must, but they're so good they sell out! I've never had anything less than totally delicious from this tiny eatery. Do yourself a favour and try it. If you don't like hot try the chicken wonton soup, an oldie but a goodie I was blown away by - I've never had anything close to it.

My order: Dry seafood noodles soup ( medium spicy) L$8.5, Dumplings with spicy sause L$9.5 20psSelf service restaurant. You need to pick up a menu at a counter and pay at first. No picture menu and no detail about dish so you just choose a menu with your favorites ingredients(pork or chickenor beef and so on). I had difficulty in choosing noodles. If you order noodles, you need to choose spicy level. ( little spicy, medium, very spicy)I order L size noodle. It's huge cup. At first, I thought I can't eat all but I wanted to eat extra noodle at the end.The medium spicy was spicy a bit for me but it's realy a good dish.I recommend the dumplings as well. They are better than any of Balmoral road's chineese dumpligs. It's thin dough and stuffing with nice seasoning.I definitety come back and try Dan Dan noodles ( I think the noodle is the most popular ) and dumplings.
I first tried this place years ago because I always saw a line outside. Now I know why :) so I regularly come back for their tasty dumplings, noodles (e.g. Dan Dan noodles) and wontons.
The food is Sichuan style so even on mild its spicier than most places and everything tends to swim in chilli.
This place is also good bang for your buck.
if you like spicy and you like noodles, look no further.. this is heaven!!
Dan dan noodles are to DIE for... ordered wontons in spicy source also.. these were also very very good.. very smooth.
Prices are reasonable. Portion sizes vary depending on the size of the items ordered.
Definitely recommend this place for those of you who enjoy the 'spice' in your life. I certainly do.
Will definitely be a local visiting place when I visit Auckland.
Fantastic food for dumplings and noodles and very cheap prices. We ordered the hot and spicy soup that came with 20 dumplings for around 9 dollars. A little hard to get service if you don't speak the language of the person on the counter but someone will help out eventually.
Dinky looking restaurant located at the start of Dominion Road off Eden Terrace, it's fairly small and easy to miss unless you know ehat you're looking for - thankfully the entire doorway is painted the lucky Chinese colour, red so it doesn't fully blend between the buildings.
We came around dinner time (7pm ish) and we were lucky enough to get one of the 4-seater tables. This restaurant is fully packed during this time and there's very little room to squeeze past when you're going for an empty table.
Unfortunately there's only a chinese menu permanenly located on the bigger tables (wedged between the table/table cloth and glass) and you need to go up and ask for the English one. It's a pay when you order deal, which makes complete sense as there's literally no room to wait after your meal to pay (there's usually heaps of customers standing in the doorway/'aisle' ordering takeaway meals or waiting for a table to free up).
This restaurant is Sichuan Cuisine, which means its spicy. Very spicy. They offer differing levels of spiciness - little, medium, hot, very hot etc. For people who aren't familiar or can't take spice at all, i'd recommend asking them to make it not spicy as their 'little spicy' still has a fairly good kick to it.
My friends and I ordered the beef and potato on rice, dan dan with noodles and spare ribs with spicy soup - the noodles tasted A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and would highly recommend to people who love noodles, (authentic) chinese food, spice and good food. The Dan Dan noodle soup is fairly good, way too oily so it's not good for drinking up afterwards. I would highly recommend and would happily repurchase their spare ribs - it has soft bones in it so its easy to chew and eat whole.
The food arrives pretty quickly, the staff are abrupt and state the meal in Mandarin (ask what it is if you don't understand so you don't eat the wrong meal). The serving size is decent for the price.
Aside from the few rude customers that stare you down/watch you eat in hopes of you finishing quickly so they can grab your table, this place is great. Hopefully they could expand the size of their restaurant in the near future to accomodate the huge amount of people that want to eat here.
This place should be able to be given 6 stars it was incredible. The spice is amazing the flavors were incredible and the dumplings were so flavorful. I am official hooked and now I have been back several times. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU ARE IN AUCKLAND!
The best dumplings (and more) in Auckland. This place is always busy… you could be in for a bit of wait or you can call in and pick-up. The food is best consumed as soon as its ready though. We keep coming back to this place and every time we have visitors from other places, we make sure we bring them here.
We had the beef spicy noodle soup and pork mince noodle soup today. Really good yummy authentic food, very generous portions and well priced. Definitely coming back here !!
LITERALLY THE BEST SICHUAN FOOD IVE HAD. Im a vegetarian, but absolutely absolutely loved everything that was available in vegetarian options. DO NOT MISS THE SPICY DUMPLINGS!!!! Coming back here as much as i can while im in auckland
Tried Eden Noodles after our hike up to Mount Eden from the CBD.
We were there at 12-ish and there was a short quick, and it took a while to receive our order.
But their dumplings in spicy sauce 红油抄手,and their braised beef noodles tasted great. Dumplings in spicy soup 钟饺子 were decent too.
Would definitely return when I get a chance to return to Auckland!!
If you are a fan of Chinese’s noodle should try some of their menu it traditional but a bit oily for me. Overall it good.
The food was delicious 😋. We had dumplings, Wontons, noodles and a rice dish. Real good food and it is definitely worth it. I do not mind a small dining space. But where our table was, there was a box sticking out of the wall and that definitely was a head bangger!
Eden Noodles are without question the best dumplings in Auckland, we drive from Mission Bay just to pick them up and bring them home.
It’s great to watch them made fresh and cooked at the time you order. Big fan of the chicken dumpling soup, be sure to get a little chilli on the side.
Do yourself a flavour and give Eden Noodles a try soon.

Little shop on top of dominion road - always busy around dinner time but very worth the wait. I always do phone order to take away. Their dumpling and wonton in spicy sauce is the bomb! Highly recommend!
One of the most authentic noodle dishes sit in Eden Noodles Cafe, located in dominion road and a tiny seating area next to the kitchen. All of their noodles so far have been A1 and I highly recommend coming here with a hearty appetite. The portions are incredibly fair along with the pricing. I have a preference over this store over the one in the city but both are still really nice. When coming here be prepared for a queue (no surprise here) but I can 100% say that it is worth the wait. 😋
my friends and I have been here a couple of times for lunch, and we absolutely love it. Food was great and tasty while not being overly expensive. For 30 dumplings and soup we didn't pay more than 30$ altogether.
Was a huge line when trying to get our orders yesterday. We had the dan dan noodles, dumplings and also chicken wonton soup. The dan dan noodles was good. The dumplings although very oily, was very tasty but I think quite unhealthy. The chicken wonton soup was not as good as I initially imagine. As I have had chicken wonton soup before that has a very clean chicken broth, this was nothing like that. The broth was just ok for me, the wonton itself was not bad. I can see why they have long line though, as the dumplings and noodles have good flavours to keep people coming back.
Always delicious and hot food, the spice it perfect sweet hot and numbing. Service is quick and timely. Small Cafe with very limited seating so get in quick to grab a table, also not the nicest to sit and eat with being so close to kitchen and noises. But always good to takeaway and find a spot to eat or home!
The spicy dumplings were amazing, would definitely go back for those. As it is so popular you will have to wait a little bit but we arrived just before 12pm and didn't have to wait too long. If you don't mind takeaway that could be a good option as well. They also seemed to have a system of sharing the 4-seater tables for smaller groups. Maybe you can meet some new interesting people! Anyway, definitely worth the trip.
Food is amazing, pork & chives dumplings In spicy sauce best dumplings I've ever had. Also got spicy pork and potato on rice was delicious heaps of flavour in the pork. If I'm honest place is a bit tight seating wise but the food is well worth a visit or 2 or 3 hahah
