Really nice restaurant, love the deco and the friendly staff but their sushi don’t come with soy sauce, which is strange.
Their set dinner menu is very affordable, and looks like they have a great lunch menu as well. We ordered teriyaki chicken, teriyaki fish and sashimi set. Each came with salad, rice, vege tempura, spring rolls and miso. I recommend the sashimi dinner set. We also got a plate of sashimi/nigiri too which goes well with sake. Service is excellent. There are surprisingly a lot of seats inside, with an upstairs area that is sometimes available too. The place is popular among a variety of customers, from couples to families with toddlers.
The food is quite good and the price is reasonable. My friend and I have been here for several times. The service persons are polite and professional, strongly recommend.
Ordered Spicy Pork box via UberEats.
I got to agree with the 4+ ratings.
Every item was fresh tasting and delicious.
Would rather pay a little less and get a smaller appropriate serving size portion than the giant servings you typically get with this style of dish from other asian food joints.
Love the salmon teriyaki♡fresh and juicy. The quality of food is always perfect. The price is average around 15 per person (but depends). Environment is comfortable and relaxing. Super recommend this restaurant with friendly staffs
I absolutely love this place! It’s really cheap and affordable. They give you so much food for what you pay for. They’re cute little sushi, teriyaki chicken, tempers and salad stuff is yummy!!!
So good! Meals are priced roughly $11-20 and are such great value. I got a Spicy pork lunch set, which came with rice, tempura, miso, spring rolls, slaw, sushi and kiwi fruit sides for $14 ✨
Pork was so flavourful and yum, there were still bits of fat which really added richness to the dish. Service was friendly and efficient even tho we were a big group. Corkage very well priced also at $3. Will come back! Only critique was not spicy enough even though I asked but they were happy to bring chilli to the table for us to season ourselves.
Ordered a chicken teriyaki box off uber eats. The packaging was good and everything was neatly organised and presented. The food was still relatively hot by the time it arrived. Portions were good and everything was tasty. The miso soup contained was a bit unappetising (just a small flat plastic container).
Located conveniently on Queen Street near the K road junction and is surrounded by a few other Asian restaurants as well. The decor is pretty interesting with two levels of seating area (didn't get to see the top section).
Menu has many options and what helps is they have a photo album to help understand what to expect. Set menu helps for those who love sampling more than one preparation. We ordered for the spicy pork dinner set, Udon Yakisoba and Chicken katsu. All 3 came with a bowl of stick rice, salad and tangerine. The Udon with sushi, spring rolls and miso soup; pork had all this too with a portion of tempura. Full points to the spicy pork (actually sweet and spicy) and udon. Kastu was great too but the teriyaki sauce topping made it slightly more sweeter for my taste buds. Most dishes are priced well@ avg $15 each. Will surely visit again.
Late Thursday night. Party of 3
Value: 5/5
For a place in Aucklands CBD I thought this was quite cheap. Had a full mean (it was very filling) for under $20. So this was the perfect place to go for a late dinner that didn't cost a whole days food.
Venue: 4/5
Loved the set up of this place. It was empty when we turned up (after 10pm). So we had the place to ourselves. Lots of seating and I love the deco in there.
Service: 5/5
Very friendly and welcoming. They have a picture like photo album menu book to help you choose your food. You can grab your own drinks from the fridges too.
Food: 5/5
Traditional Japanese food. I had the udon noodles and it comes with other side dishes too. Very filling, portion wise was very good. Sushi there was delicious.
First time coming here and a great experience. As soon as you enter it feels like you went to Japan with the lovely smell of Japanese food! I got the tempera udon set and I found the side dishes tasted really nice and they are so cute.
We got served really fast and had a photo album to choose the food which is nice. I came with friends and there was five of us and food take about 10 minutes to arrive all. The tempera was very crisp and authentic and the spring rolls were really yummy. We all decided to come again!!
Lovely helpful staff, delicious food. Highly recommend the tempura. Comfortably busy on a Saturday night but not crowded. Would visit again!
Great Japanese dining place. Have been here twice served very nicely. The ambience is very awesome with the place almost making you feel like you are in Japan. Have had the Chicken and Beef Teriyaki lunchbox's both delicious and plentiful with many options provided.
Really really good food. Byo. Try the chicken prawns or spicy beef. Japanese food here is a must try.
It's reasonably priced and the dinner sets are yummy.
Still wanna try all Asian restaurants up on Queen Street, but so far Fujisan was the best out of three or four.
Went there for lunch and had a combo with miso soup, sushi roll and spring rolls that were ok. The main was fish pan fried with a delicious sauce. It was so good I felt like licking the plate, lol. Wish all the rest were as good as, but still I'd comeback to try other things.
The salmon and avocado sushi here is amazing. Freshly made with ample salmon added and definitely a stand out dish here. The takoyaki is quiet standard, maybe a little too much time in the deep fryer as they were a bit too crispy for my liking. My partner had the rainbow roll which he quite liked with a mixture of seafood and veges. Overall, definitely worth a visit as its one of the better Japan places on Queen St.
Ive been here a few times as it is local to my appartment and the food is fantastic! ! Definately better than tanukis cave! Service is always fast and friendly and they do takeaways too which is great
This place gives you a feel of how restaurants in Japan would be like. The food here is well presented, very tasty and decently priced.
Staff are courteous and the service is fast.
I came in for a quick lunch and found that there are 4-5 Korean/Japanese restaurants in a row here. The food quality/hygiene rating of a 'A' displayed outside made me chose this place and I've got no regrets.
I'll certainly come back for a dinner with friends/family next time.

Good people, nice atmosphere, decent food. And I love the menu in photos - you can actually see in advance exactly what you are getting instead of trying to guess size, proportions and looks as in so many other places.
Great food and ambiance. Well priced and portion is just right.
If you looking for quick services..then this place is not for you!
A little bit of wait means I get to sit a little longer to chat with my mates.
Definitely great for groups! They can accommodate private function upstairs for up to 15 people.
My favourite Japanese Restaurant in the whole of Auckland. Food portions are generous and service is always friendly. Have been coming here for years now and have never had a bad experience. Their lunch and dinner boxes are to die for (especially the Teriyaki chicken). Highly recommend!
Small portion of tuna tataki was very depressing but it tasted ok. Bento box, donburi and desserts were very delicious. I love their friendly service overall they are always smiling and makes me want to come back. Hidden and unoticed but great japanese restaurant.

Such lovely people and good service, I'm never left waiting longer than 10 minutes for my meal to come. Such amazing value for money, I always get a bento box and it never disappoints. Recommend to all Japanese lovers, this is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Auckland
This has been my fave inner-city BYO for years. The food is always delicious (if you can't decide what to pick, ask for the photo book! They have pictures of every meal on the menu). The ginger chicken entree and yakisoba for main is my go-to. Staff are always lovely too. If you have a big group (10-20+) you usually get the upstairs to yourself. Perfect start to a night out.
My favourite value for money restaurant of all times. We drive from the shore especially to go here since we love it so much. Not sure I should tell everyone how good it is :)
Food is always fresh, service impeccable and the bill is to good to be true.
Very nice atmosphere with lots of Japanese character.
Normally I dont go Japanese as it is too expensive, but this place is well priced. The food quality matches the price ie. not top range quality, but good enough for an average Japanese meal.
Service was good. Seems to be Korean run.
Cudos for this place offering a great deal with daily deal vouchers.
Yes, I would come back here.
I enjoy dining at Fujisan - gr8 place for a nice quiet dinner - it never disappoints :-)
I regularly go to this restaurant. The food is divine and always cooked to perfection. The staff are super friendly and the food tastes extrordinary!
Definatly the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to.
I had Pork Katsu for my lunch. And I can say it was a great decision I made! The meat is thick fresh, juicy and also crunch! And the nutrition balance seems good too. Enough meat, veggies and theres a cute little fruit dessert lol I love it and would definitely come back another day soon. Double recommended!! 👍👍
I really recommend the lunch boxes if you’re after a tasty, good value meal 😋 I got the spicy chicken box, it was either $14 or $15 and comes with the main, rice, tempura, salad and underneath the tempura are also some mini sushi rolls and mini spring rolls. It also comes with miso soup! Honestly super good value and so much variety. It’s called a lunch box but I was super stuffed after having this for dinner.
Stopped in for a takeaway meal and was very pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of the food. Really nice fresh food, highly recommend for a good Japanese meal.
Tasty food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Had a wonderful experience. Would recommend it.
Got bento boxes and dinner sets. Price and flavour is not bad . Service was ok.
Really nice little place. Just had a casual dinner there and it was just right. Well priced too.
Had the best experience here last night. We booked for a table of 8 and had the best time. Corkage was cheap! and the food was incredible I would highly recommend the teriyaki chicken bento box. Thank you for such a nice night and we will definitely be coming back!
Excellent food, generous portions and great value for the price! Would recommend mains with chicken in them as well. Food was super flavoursome.
Atmosphere was a little fill with light music, so probably by the best location for first date.
Funny little photo-album menu with pictures of each meal, which actually made it very easy to choose a meal.
This is a Great food joint. Their box menu is quite big & filling And not costly at all. There's plenty of options for all food lovers from vegetarian to vegan and gluten free. The setup is nice and warm. And friendly and happy staff. Definitely recommended.
I’ve been ordering from them via Uber eats for a few times and was never disappointed! Great portion, fresh and tasty, comes with miso soup too! Great value for price 👍
