Curry puffs were yum and so were the crispy pork with bok Choy and rice. The pork belly was succulent and crisp with a generous amount of crackling. The rice was a bit dry and undercooked in parts. I liked the glass noodles and tender chicken pieces in the pad Thai but the sauce was far too sweet that about halfway through it became unpleasant to eat. Would come back to try the other dishes though!
You have to try their crispy pork here, the pork is always crispy with a delicious oyster sauce and bok choy and side of rice. Their basil chicken was also very tasty but it was on the salty side. My friend got a chicken larb salad with rice and he found that refreshing and yummy. Our other friend ordered chicken rice which he devoured. Overall, the food here is reasonably priced and you are never leave hungry.
I ordered basil chicken (hot) and pork massaman curry. Both came with rice. Basil chicken was spicy but good spicy really good. Chicken mince wasn't dry at all. Massaman curry smelled so good and love the creamy coconut flavour.
Convenient and popular Thai hotspot in the CBD. I’ve come in here for a work lunch and it was insanely busy. However food still arrived in a timely manner and was yum. I ordered my go-to green curry and the portion size was reasonable too. Essential to make a booking here as it’s very busy!
I walked in a Wednesday around 12 and was given my food within 5-10 minutes of ordering. The staff are very friendly and I won't be going anywhere else for Phad Thai from now on. This is the best Phad Thai I've had in New Zealand - full of flavour and suacey enough. Great portion sizes too, enough for me to get two meals out of the Phad Thai and delicious curry puffs.
Been to Aroy Thai a few times over the last few years and always found it to be a good safe meal choice. One of the better restaurants around the downtown area especially for cheap but good Thai food.
I’ve tried the pad Thai, chilli chicken, basil chicken and pork on bok Choy. All really nice meals with good serving size. Medium spice is already quite spicy for me at Aroy. Food is always really flavoursome and comes out very quickly.
Walk in for quicky lunch on Saturday. Friendly staff. Accommodating as our son brought in a burger while we ordered Aroy dishes. It was not busy at that time which was nice. Super clean restaurant. When I said clean, including toilet. Food was very tasty, valuable for money, big portion. We definitely recommend this to all our friends
Really casual and nice place to go! The food is very good - always enjoyable. I normally get a curry or the pad thai but it never disappoints. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning soon!
Never dissapointed when I dine here. Nice food.

Went here for early weekend dinner. Place are nice and cozy, we ordered pad thai and massaman curry plus also got the mango sticky rice for desserts. Yummy food and love it
Tom Yum! TOM YUM! TOM YUMMMMY! Hands down the best place for Tom Yum Noodle Soup in Auckland.
Authentic, delicious! (Just refer to my before and after Tom yum photos)
Fantastic service and ambiance. Highly recommended and will definitely be back. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Heard this place was great and I finally tried it for myself. I got the red curry which I always love and it was exceptional. The layout of the place is really cool, very spacious and it seems to be quite a bit at lunch among everyone, but still places to sit 😊
For affordable food with plenty of seating in CBD, it's hard to beat Aroy. This is my go-to when I need to squeeze a large group into a restaurant with no booking.
They do some decent food here too. The Pad Thai is a constant favourite - well seasoned, generous portion, perfect with chopped nuts and lemon. If you're craving noodles, the duck may be your best bet. It's the most flavourful option in a fragrant broth that infuses the flat rice noodles. The beef can sometimes come with overcooked meat, and the wonton noodles and fried chicken noodles are comparatively bland. The fried chicken alone is surprisingly crispy and juicy, but it's impossible to eat fast enough with the noodles without the chicken getting disappointingly soggy. It would be a nice side dish.
I also tried the blooming tea, which that day was offered in peach or mango flavour. I would not get this again. Although it was quite interesting served in a wine glass, it was merely tea flavoured with a fruity scent. It also did not bloom as beautifully and slowly as other blooming teas I've had, and quickly became very soggy and bogged down. For the price, you could get a very tall bubble tea to wash down your pad thai instead.
Overall, come here for the affordable pad thai and ample seating that is perfect for groups.
Their pad thai is pretty good - probably one of the best in auckland that i've tried for a medium - lower priced eatery. place is pretty clean. i guess i can't give it a 5 star because on my second visit, the pad thai was a little bit too sweet.
Very popular place! Good vegan options! You just order any meat dish as a vegan instead, and they replace the meat with tofu. I ordered the 'vegan ginger', and vegetable spring rolls. The stirfry was very fresh and super tasty, plus it was a huge portion and even came with rice. The spring rolls were ok, however would have been better with some added ginger and garlic. Super fast service though, and very nice interior. I'd be happy to go back and try their other dishes.
Best Thai food in Auckland! Huge interior, tons of seating, and food comes out really quickly too! Their classic padthai is amazing, full of flavour and it ain’t dry, which is what I love! Their pork cutlet rice and duck rice is so good too! Always my favourite place ☺️
This was sooo good, service wasn't as prompt and I believe they can improve in this. Love the food and the blooming tea was soo delicious. Definitely recommend
A good place to go for a quick bite to eat. They have an amazing menu with lots of options and it's all very delicious! The Pad Thai and Spring Rolls were incredible and the service was very fast!! In an easy accessible location in the city!
If you ask me which Thai place in Auckland CBD is the best, my answer is Aroy.
Atmosphere: 3/4
Have to be around in CBD, don't expect any free carpark around the place. The place is casual, clean and tidy, and can cater for small and large groups. The place is absolutely nice, just not fancy hence rated 3/4.
Food: 4/4
I love the food here. I normally order Massaman Curry. However their Pad Thai is good and portion size is pretty big. Tom Yum soup is good and Tom Yum fried rice is good too.
Service: 4/4
Everyone is very friendly.
Cost: 4/4
Around $15/person; very wallet friendly.
Recomend to anyone who is around Auckland CBD alone or with small group of friends. The place can get popular, so booking is essential if you are planning large lunch/dinner with friends.
My friend told me about a really good Thai place and took me here for lunch. Very busy when we arrived. But it is worth the wait, the food is amazing. Environment is nice, very tidy and clean too despite lots of people. And will definitely come again. Would have given it 5 stars rating if not for the long wait and the price is very slightly expensive compared to similar food choice, but its located at the heart of CBD.

First time here and ordered the pork pad thai. Price and portion were reasonable. However, I personally think the meat used in the pad thai has been over tenderized (my friend ordered chicken pad thai and she also thought the meat was too tender). Overall, a large & spacious place and would return to try their rice dishes.
The noodle soups at Aroy are just splendid! Aromatic and packed with a punch, their duck (photo 1) and fried chicken noodle (photo 2) soup just leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy on a cold winters day! The price was also very reasonable! And their rest of their menu is superb!
What I like most about Aroy Thai is the range of vegan options in their menu and the way they preserve the rich flavours characteric to Thai cuisine within their dishes. Portion sizes are fantastic, staff are friendly, there's an abundance of self serve water, and the general dining atmosphere is very enjoyable. Can't wait to see mango sticky rice back on the menu!
I've known this place for ages but am not really a regular. Came for lunch with a work colleague today as a 'Plan B' as the restaurant we wanted to go was closed. Today we ordered Fried Chicken w/ Ginger Rice and Chicken Fried Rice. The fried chicken pieces are very yummy and crispy and the ginger rice is full of flavour. The fried rice is good too but a little too much onion in chuncky pieces. They should be more finely chopped. The portion of both meals have been very generous which we like 🤓😋😜
Been here for several times. Still find it good and lovely. Pad thai is our favourite. Thai iced coffee is also nice. Recommend and will keep on coming back.
The staffs were friendly and the service was fast. The food was good and I love the tomyum soup! There were plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate people. Would highly recommend for a quick lunch or dinner.
Always making regular visits because food comes out really fast. A great place for a quick meal with friendly staff. Took a star off because sometimes their dishes can be quite salty.
Good service and good food. Pricing was a little bit more than average but serving size was decent. Ambiance of restaurant was really nice too.
It is a really big place therefore it gets really cold in there however the food was great. The staff weren’t too friendly and didn’t talk much or advice much about what to order but whatever we ordered was good.
this place is in the heart of britomart so location is great if you will be in the city. Food is cheap and pretty decent so perfect for a quick bite.
will be back
My absolute favourite place to eat. Service is fast and food is delicious. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and I’ve never been let down. However my heart lies with the chicken cashew and the pork and bok Choi. Some weeks I have this 4 days.
The restaurant had takeaway and dine in choices from their menu. The place was clean and had a bright atmosphere. Although they didn’t have staff providing us water and was self service, the menu was provided for me to order at the counter before receiving food. The cups were interesting to drink from. The food was good staff were polite and friendly.
Perfect place to grab some quick, fairly priced Thai food. Food is very nice too.
This place wont disappoint! Their curries are a personal favourite!
Aesthetic looking Thai food restaurant great for the gram.
Service: 7/10
There isn’t much table service, you order your food at the counter and seat yourself.
The workers were polite but were nothing outstanding.
The food was made within a pretty short amount of time.
Food: 8/10
I ordered the massaman curry and my friends ordered the green curry and pad Thai.
The massaman curry had loads of vegetables which had all absorbed the delicious curry. The curry itself had a good ratio of coconut milk to spices, so it wasn’t too sweet and overwhelming.
The plates and plating also looks gorgeous for asian food standards.
Ambiance: 9/10
The restaurant isn’t like your typical Thai restaurant where it’s super decorated and themed. It is actually quite modern and clean cut.
The drawings on the walls are a unique alternative to paintings and pictures.
The wooden furniture and decorations give the restaurant a minimalistic simple vibe.
It is super spacious and bright with the sun shining in through the large glass windows.
This place has super nice ambiance but the food and service wasn’t super outstanding.
Good prices for good food! The food is served really fast too! Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with friends. The place is quite large so getting a seat isn’t usually too difficult. My personal favourite is the basil chicken!
Ordered the Steamed chicken with ginger Rice and it was so good!
It was with a flavourful sweet and tangy sauce and the ginger rice paired really nicely👍🏻
Went here as suggested by a friend - ambience was light, airy and very modern. The food itself was enjoyable and typical of most Thai cuisine and arrived promptly after ordering. The curry puffs were slightly dry but the Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice my friend and I had were well done :-) Overall, an enjoyable casual dining experience, perfect if you want a go-to place for some Thai nosh that isn't too pricey.

My go to vegetarian curry spot in Auckland CBD. A light curry that warms you up during winter. Pleased they offer a tofu substitute at no extra cost which is rare in Auckland.
Tried many thai places before. This is absolutely good. Love their curry. I would definitely come back. The mango sticky rice was also amazing. The mangoes were very ripe and sweet. The menu also could be done vegetarian/vegan which was great 👍
This is one of my favourite places to eat- its cheap and the food is amazing. It always comes out fast and hot. Always seating unless going on lunchtime during the week then can sometimes be a short wait. Crispy BBQ pork is one of my all time favourites and highly recommend

My usual go-to place in the City for Thai cravings. Their Pad Thai (5/5), Prawn spring rolls (6/5) and Massaman curry (5/5) is ALWAYS really GOOD and guranteed quick food service too.
However, decided to change it up abit for tonight’s dinner.
Food: Duck Noodle soup was ordered. Presentation wise - looked delicious. Taste wise - it was an OK dish. Found the broth way too sweet for my liking, duck was abit dry and chewy, but not too fatty which i liked, rice noodles were cooked to perfection. Probably won’t get this dish again, and would just stick to my usual :)
This is my go to place when I just want a casual dinner with mates. There's always plenty of room, it's got a real laid back atmosphere, and there's a lot of menu options.
The excellent part is every one of those options is delicious - especially the curry puffs for starters.
I also really like the way they make their tea, it's a special favourite of mine.
Finally it's excellent value for money - what's not to love?
My go-to for affordable Thai food! Portions are big and the food tastes good every time! Have tried different items in their menu and we’ve not had a single bad meal. Definitely recommended!
Great portions and consistent food - flavours are quite authentic so I definitely recommend this if you are craving for something Asian or Thai!
Easily accessible.. just around Britomart area. Prices for the food are reasonable. The first time I tried the place was in Wellington and I loved it! Same menu here in Auckland. I tried the Wanton Soup and it was very tasty and the wantons are really filled. I’ll be coming back here to try other stuff. Place is nice and clean.

Overall good experience but chilli chickenwas too salty to finish the dish. Pad thai was decent to eat. Had quite a lot of food for it’s price. Would like to come back next time to try different food.
My favourite thai restaurant. Their food is a reasonable price. I always get the pad thai or the green curry and they never disappoint. They also have an app where you can preorder your meal so you don’t have to wait if you want to takeway. The interior is spacious and really pretty looking.
A lovely quaint thai restaurant nestled in hustle and bustle of the cbd. We ordered spring rolls and deep fried tofu with ginger rice.
The spring rolls were crispy, not at all oily and melt in the mouth. Very delicate flavours and a good filling of veggies.
Tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, mildy spiced yet very flavorful. Ginger rice was the highlight, it was soo good! Salad was nice and fresh. The sweet chilly sauce was lipsmacking good.
Service was super quick, the server was extremely nice and polite. Food was served with a smile, plus points for that.
Will definitely go back to try the curry puffs and thai curries.
Large restaurant with lots of seating in front & up on a mezzanine floor. You pay at the counter first & take a table number.
Menu has lots of variety- also have beer & wine.
We chose a range of dishes & all were good. Portions are small considering the rice, but prices are quite reasonable too
A very nice place to enjoy yummy Thai Food at Custom st in the main CBD.
This place is is newly built and the interior is spacious and accommodates large travelling groups too. It’s always busy and the Food is always served fresh & hot.
We loved their Spring Rolls.
Thai curry and Pad Thai was also very authentic.
Service was fast & staff were friendly.
Our place to unwind on Fridays to begin the weekend!.. Love the authentic pad thai noodles and spicy hot tom yum soup is super delicious... Love the ambience... Yummy food followed by walk down to viaduct harbour.....Prices are fairly reasonable not overpriced..... Would definately recommend for Thai!!
Love their milk tea! (although a bit sweet for me) Have tried the pad thai, tom yum fried rice, pineapple fried rice, rice with duck. So far, tom yum would be my favourite. Also, I enjoyed eating here for the affordable prices and big portion of meals.
Spacious restaurant, good for casual dinner. My sister & I used to come here if we wanted something quick to eat- they welcome walk ins, no need to book. I thought for the location, it would be a little on the dearer side but food & drink is affordable. Service is fast- no long wait time. The tofu pad thai is my go to. A little on the oily side. Other than that, very tasty.

The food came out pretty fast for a group of 10 people. Ordered Pad thai, Massaman Curry, Chicken with cashew and Curry puffs and Prawn roll for appetizers. Pad thai was amazing! And very big portion. Chicken with cashew, wasnt that enjoyable and would not recommend. Massaman curry was too hot too. Would come back just for the Pad thai and the aesthetics of the place.
Authentic and Affordable Thai food. I've been here a few times now and I always leave satisfied with the food and the service. I had the yellow curry (pictured below)- the sauce was creamy and flavourful and the vegetables were well cooked. The crispy chicken was also really crunchy and juicy...just so delicious. The dining area is spacious and if you're on the go, take away is also an option.
Affordable and delicious Thai eatery serving up a range of rice, noodles and curries! It's super spacious and great for group dining. Favourite would be the pad Thai and roast duck noodle soup! Their entrees are also quite well done- love the curry puff and spring rolls!
I'd say slightly above average over all. I ordered black pepper beef with extra beef and still felt a bit light for a main, also the meal was ready a bit too quickly so felt pre-made, I could be wrong, but felt that way. Prawn rolls were very nice.
Great atmosphere, prompt service, affordable prices and outstanding flavours all tied in together to offer a more than satisfactory dining experience.
Was very fast to get the food even if it was rush time. interior was nice and interesting . Kind staffs. Rotty(?) was yummy as well:) hope to try other dish
Cheap, quick and yummy food, and super friendly staff!! They have really quick service and many options too! Have frequent it 3 times within two weeks!
Food arrived quickly. Friendly staff. Nice food. Good environment. Nothing bad to say about this place. Would come again and recommend to my friends.
Wow now I see why this place is always busy. I am Thai myself and today was my first time ordering from here. After trying to order directly off the online website - it did not work. But as I called the lovely young European was extremely helpful! The food took 5 minutes- when I got there it was ready to pick up. And they also offer takeaway cutlery which is great.
I love how there are mixed nationality employees- this is great! And the food does taste authentic!
Super good value for money and full over flavour. I will be coming here for my lunch breaks!
Amazing!
I've tried their Chicken Pad Thai and their Beef Noodle Soup! Definitely the best Thai restaurant in town! Affordable and delicious! The Pad Thai is one of the most popular dishes in Thailand, and just slurping those rice noodles in that sauce was so satisfying. Everything was just cooked to perfectiom, and geenrous portions as well. The Beef Noodle Soup had a very interesting broth. Quite light, and tasted like soy sauce (I could be wrong). The beef was thinly sliced and some chunks of Bok Choy was in there too. I have yet to try their rice dishes. Very happy to have dined here!
Update: Tried their Green Curry and the minimal spice gives you a kick! A good balance between spicy and creamy! The chicken was cooked well and I just loved the curry sauce! Eating it with rice just made it even better!
Very relaxed dining. Order at the counter grab a table number and pick a seat. There was a weird smell and a high pitched ringing we had to try and get away from but other than that the decor and ambience was lovely. The wait for food wasn’t long, our thai iced coffee arrived with out straws (we asked just in case!) and was delicious! The curry puffs were hot, fresh, kind of sweet and tasty!!
I had crispy pork with bok choy, the pork was a little dry but I haven’t had a crispy pork that isn’t dry haha the bok choy was yummy! Loved the little water glasses. The best food, customer service and price. We will be back!
Pretty good place! It's so fancy and yet the price is very affordable. Highly recommended. A nice place for a group lunch. They have the big long tables so space isn't an issue
Great Thai place for its price range! It is very affordable so I would recommend it to students.
We had the roti, green curry and beef pad thai. They all tasted great and the portion size is pretty standard as well.
First discovered Aroy by accident while we were looking for a fries place on Commerce Street. Walked in with some friends and ordered myself Chicken Pad Thai.
I've been back twice since, and ordered the same dish each time. (Maybe I should try something else for once.) The food is always just as good.
We've usually sat near the back, which has some lovely lighting. However, being a busy evening yesterday, we sat near the front, where the lighting isn't as great. I took the photo with my flash on.
They are VERY quick with getting our food out. Four of us had dinner here last night. I ordered first, and the friend who ordered a green curry right after me had hers out in what felt like 5 minutes. Each of us enjoyed what we ordered, especially at the very reasonable prices.
Aroy will be in my bookmarks for a very long time.
Very good Thai eatery in CBD. Reasonable prices and delicious food. Can also order online if you’d like to avoid the queues :)
Authentic Thai place!
Absolutely adore the decor of this place! The service was quick and prompt and the food was great! The crispy chicken was great and I haven’t had that in a Thai place before! Looking forward to coming back again!
Love from Christchurch xx
TGIF! Friday’s is always a day that most people in my team look forward to because of Friday Lunch club it used to be named the Gossip Friday Lunch club but with the inclusion of certain management members our gossiping has had to be removed.
It was pretty awesome of Aroy to take reservations on a Friday, extremely thankful of this because we’ve been turned away a few times because of how busy they were. So awesome that they take bookings. I actually enjoyed the Aroy joints back in Wellington, I thought they made pretty quality and consistent food at quite affordable prices. I had the duck noodle soup, the noodles were absolutely irresistible I just kept slurping, slurping and slurping till I had no noodles left! There was plenty of duck and the thin slices really let you enjoy the fuck flavour without being overwhelmed by the gamey tastes duck can sometimes contain. My colleague had a tom yum chicken noodle soup, it was more sweet than sour and was quite delicious. There were quite a few pad Thai orders and the general consensus was that the pad Thai was fresh and colourful.
One thing which was quite obvious though was that I felt there was quite a bit of msg in the meals, I was feeling quite thirsty as I devoured my dish, other than that I’m glad to see Aroy up here in Auckland.
Showstopper: Personally the duck noodle soup was bloody fantastic, the noodles just worked extremely well with the soup.
Overall Grade:A-
Not only is the food super delicious and tasty at Goodlife Juice the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly! The place has a really good vibe. The salads and smoothies all taste fresh and have heaps of flavour. There's something to suit any dietary requirement too, which is pretty cool. All in all, a 5 star establishment!
Well, I'm not Asian and, according to my Thai boyfriend, food at Aroy is "good, but reinterpretation for white people", but I don't care, I had a blast here.
Thai sausage was great, well seasoned and cooked to perfection, crispy but not dry, and the pork belly was *wow*, as well as the Tom Yum soup.
Hope I can come back to this place so many times and try everything from the menu. It is so good and cheap!
Came here on a Monday for lunch. If you want to get a table here during lunch hours, you’d have to either get in early or reserve a table, or else you’d have to takeaway as a lot of office workers come down here to eat.
We ordered the fried noodles, chicken & pork Pad Thai, and spicy basil chicken. The Pad Thai was authentic as it tasted sweet and sour and this flavor was delivered by the meat as well. The vegetables were crunchy and the dish had an extra crunchy texture with the nuts. The fried noodles tasted similar to the Pad thai, just as not sweet, but salty. The chili chicken was actually very nice flavor wise. It had a good level of spiciness, a little sweetness in the meat, and the saltiness which mixed well with the rice. The vegetables were not only crunchy but also had a touch of spiciness as well.
In terms of flavor, it was actually pretty good, but we waited for a really long time for the food to come and we kept asking the waitresses and they kept saying it’ll come soon. It was disappointing especially for one of our friends who still had work and came down here for his 1 hour lunch break and he only used 15mins to eat. It was rather cheap considering the portion size though.

Such a great Thai place. Went for lunch today the line was out the door. But well worth it, food is always amazing, had the noodles, so delish. Customer service is always so good here to. Really enjoyed it.
Aroy is a great place to stop by if wanting a good plate of Thai food at a great price. Plus they’re quick. A colleague of mine is Thai and this is one of her regulars so you know that’s a great endorsement on its own.
The atmosphere of the place is a bit flat so don’t come expecting a fine dining experience. But if you want to walk away satisfied then you’ll be very very happy.
I always wanted to try this restaurant because their interior looked fancy and today I finally had a chance to try it with my friend.
Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5
Food: I ordered phad Thai ($13.90) and my friend ordered grilled chicken with rice. Phad Thai came in large portion! I'm a tiny girl but people always say I eat a lot (I agree too) but this phad Thai made me feel full (?) so I guess it's really a big portion. I like the generous amount of peanuts next to the noodles. Noodles were well cooked and not sticking together. But it was quite salty.
Comparing to mine, my friend's food seemed to be in smaller portion (I think rice is not that enough). The grilled chicken smelt so nice and appetising but I didn't try it because I caught a cold (don't want to transfer bugs).
Service: staff was nice but the waiting time to make an order in the counter...... there was only one place to make orders (we had to queue at the cashier) and the restaurant was quite big so lots of people were queuing :( it would be better if a waiter could come and take an order. Food came after 10-15mins.
Others: I really loved the interior of the restaurant! I didn't know that the restaurant was so big (if you walk up a few steps there are more seats!) the steel water cups were so pretty with lovely pattern. The whole environment was so cozy.
Had lunch with a couple of colleagues and the food was quite good and decent quantity for the price. Except for the veg fried rice which was a let down all the remaining items were good. The only complaint I have was there was a huge queue for ordering but since the service was pretty quick and people were here on lunch during the weekday they were moving fast and we were able to get a seat immediately after placing our order.
Overall very happy and will definitely visit again 😀
Actually Aroy is take away restaurant where you can also take a seat to eat. So do not have to formal exceptions. But also if you sit down at aroy it is a nice place. I sat down at the restaurant en the food is nicely presented on classic thai plates. And the most important is of course the taste of the food.... I came to Aroy because a lot people told me it is a good place to get some good food. and the good name they have is more than true. The food is really nice. and for New-Zealand standards the food is not to expensive.
One of my favorite places when it comes for takeaways. Very good food. Usually get a curry and one of chicken stir fries. Never had a disappointing meal from there. Not a great wine selection.
So much food! The portion sizes are absolutely huge here, with so many options on the menu! I wasn't able to finish my meal unfortunately, but the place was welcoming and great while I was there.
Great place to hang for a casual dinner, really chill atmosphere and great food. Pair whatever you're having with some milk tea, overall great Thai food.
I really like the clean, modern and wooden decor. It makes the restaurant feel really neat and tidy.
The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are great. The food is tasty but I fond the presentation of the food very similar to food court style food.
Love this place for lunch. It's a spacious place, good for groups. The food is decent and they have good portions. The Tom yum noodles, chilli chicken and pad Thai is good. You order at the counter and they bring it over to you. It can get busy over lunch but the operation is slick and smooth. I highly recommend this place.
Extensive menu with lots to offer at affordable prices.
Great place nice and tidy and food was delicious. Order was ready conveniently fast. It seems that there's an option to preorder using an app. Will try next time and then update the review.

Flavours here are absolutely delicious! Not overpowering and portions are just right.
Environment is very spacious and clean, and interior is very simple.
Photos are of: Fried Fish with Sweet Chilli, Pad Thai, and Chicken Skewers with Satay Sauce.
Super quick service, great quality food. Would come back again definitely. Great vibe to the restaurant. Only thing holding it back from a 5/5 was the vege spring rolls has slightly too much pastry for the amount of filling. But they were delicious
amazing place! great value for the food! ordered red curry, tom yum fried rice and crispy pork. the red curry was creamy and rich, the chicken was very tender. the tom yum fried rice was fragrant and the beef was so tender. the crispy pork is the best roast pork I ve had in NZ, crispy but not hard and the inside is so soft and juicy!

Would I come back? YES
Wow for the price, the vibe and food is amazing!! Usually to dine Thai at a decent place, the dishes are 20+ or sometimes even $30
But most were under $15 and food was delicious, restaurant was spacious w plentiful seating + clean + simple and modern.
Compared to Chomna, which is another good cheap Thai eats, its much nicer to dine at.
I would most likely only have thai here if I was in the city!
Tried TomYum noodle soup for the first time and it was so good!! Tasted a bit like an asian version of tomato pasta?? And a good ol chicken pad thai.
The shrimp spring rolls were really good as well! Good portions
Def worth a try
Had dinner here with work group which is why we chose the restaurant it has nice big modern seating . not where to come for authentic Thai food but quick ,cheap tasty eats especially in a group was good
It's a cute restaurant with lots of aesthetic value (from their wall art to adorable water cups). I was very pleased with the food, however, I think their vegetarian options can be better.
I've eaten at a lot of thai restaurants at home and this was surprisingly good. My work colleagues and I have been here a few times. I've had the Massaman and Panang and both times the food was delicious. Will be back soon!
One of the best Thai places I have been to. The restaurant is clean and tidy with nice decor. The food comes in a decent portion and is tasty. A little bit on the pricier side. The staff and services were great. Would fully recommend to anyone wanting great Thai food, and a awesome overall experience .
A pretty good cheap eat for Thai food in town. Gets packed at lunch time so worth ordering ahead. Well presented, with quite a bit of seating. Portions sizes are pretty good to. A work colleague and I stopped in here for lunch of a Friday afternoon. Between us we had the spices black pepper beef and the beef mussamun curry, both were tasty.
Surprisingly big restaurant on Commerce St. Food costs about $13-14 which is pretty standard, and the food came out really fast. I ordered the green curry which was nice but nothing spectacular. I would've liked the curry portion to be larger because I still had rice left but no curry left :p

Aroy is a hidden Gem! I'm so glad I found this place!! This restaurant is beautiful! You can tell that the owner put a lot of thought into the look and atmosphere of the place and as the name of the place states, the food is definitely Aroy! (Word for Delicious in Thai). I tried the pad Thai with Chicken and the Cashew nut chicken but swapped the chicken for crispy pork, the food was very authentic and the prices are so good!!
The staff were also very welcoming and lovely, I can't wait to be back soon!
My new favourite Thai eatery even though I've only tried one of their dishes it's the BEST!!
Really spacious and large inside with plenty of tables. Clean, tidy and modern. I had a late lunch well after 2pm however I imagine it gets pretty busy during peak lunch hours.
I've had the beef masaman curry twice now. The first time I asked for spicy, and they do not hold back on the spice level. I love spicy food and I think my tolerance is pretty high however this was next level spicy. Which is great if your a spice lover! The curry is so good, it has carrots, onion and this other starchy vegetable I don't know what it is I thought kumara at first but I don't think it was.. anyhow it tastes really good with the curry and I've never had it before.
Can't wait to try more on the menu I will be a regular now :)
bring back my memory in wellington. there are many branch through out wellington city. but I think aroy auckland is even better. more food in the plate, and modern deco here. the taste of laab and hainanese chicken are still so great.
Cheap eats:) I don't know why I never tried this place any sooner. Loved the food, presentation and speed. They are pretty quick in the food service. Been to this place twice in a week n a half
Loved the chilly chicken and Red curry
Regular spot for me now :)
Haven't had a full meal here yet - have only nibbled from my friends plate of Pad Thai. I've heard great things about their Pad Thai so was a bit disappointed when I tried it - it wasn't bad. It just wasn't amazing.
I also ordered their spring rolls, and they were well cooked, and had a decent amount of filling.
I'd definitely revisit this place to find out what else they have to order.
Lovely staff really quick service, food came out very quickly. Best Thai I've had in ages. The crispy pork was incredible. Will definitely be back again!!!!
The decor and aesthetic of this place is insane! The serveware is super cute and complements the food, with the most adorable cups ❤ food was lovely, and for a decent price too
Had Great meal there today. Ordered Red and Green curry . Both were great , full of flavours . Cleaning was at its highest level. Prices are great for this sort of food . Been there a few times before . Never been disappointed .
I would rate the pad Thai a 3.5/5 in taste, I think the flavour could have been enhanced a little bit more. It lacked a bit of sour and sweetness for a classic Pad Thai. The green chicken curry however is a 5/5.. We enjoyed an unplanned night here. It's pay as you order so It's hassle free. Would have to comment on the novelty water cups :)
Very impressed with this restaurant, i really wasn't expecting much from here but their food was good and i loved how clean the restaurant was! The service is okay not the best which is something they should work. I recommend pepper beef, pad thai and salads.
I visited this restaurant during lunch rush. The food took Lil time to come out. I was really happy with the food here. Had Tom yum rice and it was full of flavour and tasty. Would recommend this place for a good thai food. Hope to visit this place to try out their amazing food on offer.
I was pretty impressed with Aroy - they feel like a quick eat Thai restaurant that you'd expect to find in a larger city like Sydney or Melbourne.
They're cheap, filling, and quick - great if you work downtown and have a half hour to spare for lunch, but still like eating in instead of getting takeout. I had a Thai Green Curry with rice, and for the price, it was a very generous serving.
They had a slight hiccup with my bill (they only charged my credit card for a few cents, instead of the full cost of the bill). They realised their mistake (I hadn't) and promptly came to collect the rest. I didn't mind - don't want the servers getting into trouble!
Plenty of indoor dining space, so you'll have no trouble finding a table for yourself. The cups they use for the table water are cool!
Wonderful best seafood noodles I ever had ,the ,the fish is Crispy and they served it really quick with a big small ,I had a great evening here
Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Very child friendly. The food was very quick and good size portions. It was simply delicious and will definitely be back again.
I’ve been here twice for lunch during the work week and have had good experiences. It can get quite busy before 1pm though.
I’ve tried the steamed chicken with ginger rice and I loved the subtle flavour of the ginger rice. The dipping sauce is nice as well. You can’t go wrong with their crispy chicken dishes either.
For those who prefer noodle dishes, my friend really rates their beef noodle soup (when compared to their duck noodle soup).
Overall, there is a decent variety to choose from, and the quality is good – but not spectacular. Next time, I’d try their grilled chicken with the peanut sauce.
Can't wait to come back here another time. The food was so delicious, generous portions, reasonable prices, food came very fast, staff were very friendly, lots of seating and lovely décor. Couldn't ask for more in a restaurant. I really appreciated how the menu was easy to read and different dietary requirements could be accommodated.Super recommend!!!
Great place for Thai food.
The food here tastes great, everything I have ordered tastes like gold! Beef, chicken, duck and soups have all been great..Food comes out really quick so would be good if you want to pop in for your lunch break from work. Our office tend to do a large order of dishes, about 6 -10 dishes and all come out in about 10min.
The service here has never disappointed me, the people are all lovely and always smiling.
The place is large so there is generally enough tables if you want to sit in.
Would highly recommend if your after a quick, tasty and cheap meal in town!
Aroy is a fantastic place to eat lunch or dinner. Food comes relatively quickly and is of good quality for a good price, around NZ$15 for a plate of food. Restaurant has a nice vibe and look with spacious areas to eat. Would definitely return if I am in Auckland again.
I'm regular customer to lunch at this place. The restaurant always pack of people. I have few good services (which is super fast) but few the bad one (they forgot my order). The overall food and service are great.
Nice Thai dining place, you can tell everything is fresh from the kitchen, staff is super helpful, prices are great, dish presentation and portion size are great, and food tastes better than what you are paying for, probably not the best thai place in auckland but I'm quite sure is the best you get for your money.
That feeling when you found a new dining place and it is seriously amazing!!!!!! Aroy is underrated in my opinion. I love the atmosphere here, very clean and quiet and modern. As for the food I love everything I've tried so far, plus they are serving Mango sticky rice (seasonal dish) which is my absolute favourite. Portions and presentation of food are also excellent. I'm torn because on one hand I don't want this place to be popular coz I want it for myself, on the other hand the food and service here needs to be better appreciated. Anyway this is going to be my go-to Thai place in city central ❣️
We came here for Sunday lunch, the restaurant looks really tidy and clean, I like that. We ordered pad thai, steamed chicken w/ ginger rice and spring rolls. I don't know if this is an authentics Thailand taste, but basically we don't have to wait for a long time for the foods to come and it taste good. The price also reasonable. This a great restaurant in casual day for lunch/ dinner with friends and family together.

I went there for my friend's farewell party
I ordered Larb Kai and asked for the spiciest level because I'm Thai.
The cashier was very nice and friendly.
The food came very quickly, more than my expectation.
However,my dish was tasteless and I literally couldn't feel any of spiciness. It's so so,though.
A good cheap eat. The interiors are very cosy and staff are lovely! The menu is good and the food came quickly. Food is presented beautifully and tasted good, nothing spectacular but reflects the fair pricing! My friend ordered the crispy pork which 3/4 of our group raved was amazing, so next time will give that a go!
We stumbled upon Aroy today and gave it a go. The restaurant is clean and fresh, the man behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We ordered the prawn spring rolls which were actually a whole prawn wrapped in a spring roll skin and were delicious and perfectly cooked. The red chicken curry had a little bit of spice, less than I had expected so if you like spicy food I would ask the cook to power it up. The duck broth noodles soup was very rich, the noodles were al dente and there was a generous amount of duck on top. The only criticism of both mains was that they were a little sweet for my tastes. All in all though a very pleasant meal out, I'd give it a 3.75

Was walking past wondering where to eat and aroy just looked fantastic. Very modern and tasteful with some cool designs and a large floor area that didn't feel like you were just dining in a large Hall. Food very enjoyable, would definitely recommend the duck noodle soup for its wealth of flavours. We will return!
We ended up at Aroy because the wait at Cafe Hanoi was 1.5 hours! And what a fantastic turn of events.
The food was affordable and flavoursome. The ambience and decor were fantastic and beautifully modern, and the staff were fun, efficient and friendly. You NEVER get great affordable food and wonderful customer service, especially in the city! This will definitely be our go-to when we're at this end of the city.
The best casual Thai eatery that comes to mind in the CBD. The restaurant is clean and new. All the dishes are well-balanced in flavour and are tasty without being too spicy, sweet, greasy or salty. Can highly recommend the crispy pork with bokchoi, pad Thai, som dum and wonton soup.
I got the Som Dum salad for a quick lunch while I was working. Quick service, and the salad was great! The description on the menu said refreshing and it really was. When I came back to the office everyone wanted to know what I had because they said it smelled so good. The crispy chicken was yum, and the salad had quite a bit of spice. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quick, affordable meal.
I love the ambience, very aesthetically pleasing, big space for everyone to come in. I had the best Tom Yum soup here, I swear by it. It's the most tasty Tom Yum soup I've had. It's my favourite Thai restaurant ever. Amazing fish with sweet & sour sauce also
I've walked past Aroy a few times and always thought it was just a small area but when I tried it a few days ago I was surprised to see that the seating area extended to the back! Aroy is nicely decorated and staff was friendly. I ordered the Chicken Tom Yum soup with rice and it was full of flavour! I wouldn't say it is authentic Thai food but it was still delicious and nicely presented so I would definetly be back!
Second visit in a row. Located right next to the Bikram Yoga downtown, the new Thai restaurant is modern in deco but not lacking flavors at all. Unlike the fusion you except, they have authentic dishes filled with east asian goodness. The duck noodle soup is have a beautiful broth. Highly recommended.
Having dinner here in our first day in Auckland. Quite surprise with the big portion offered here.
We ordered:
- green curry : totally not appealing, but taste yummy and as expected from the original Thai green curry supposed to be
- fried rice (add exchange of fried pork for $4) : it’s really worth it, the pork they gave is a lot
- fried wonton : really normal , but good thing is they fried it crispyly.
- Thai tea: pretty good, the sweetness level ok for me.
I love this food place. Yummm food.
As pictured, money vs value definitely worth.
The taste of the food is great.
Love the staff nicely asked do I want go spicy or not, which made me feel quite warmly engaged.
Reason for 4 stars is just a bit noisy, if you want somewhere quite and good to have a chat, here still suits, but you might have to speak louder.
Will I visit again, absolutely YES!
I highly recommend this place! Our food arrived so fast, we were surprise, but we arrived early as well before 12pm. I guess if you arrive late, they might be very busy.
Dishes were around $18. Pad Thai was tasty, I loved the prawn springs rolls, they were very fresh, but chicken satay was ok.
Staff was very kind as well.
A hidden gem. Handy to a lot of hotels and apartments.
Good selection of meals and drinks. Service was very good even though many places still be impacted by staff shortages.
Meals were delicious.
A light and airy ambiance, with plenty of seating.
Can eat in get takeaways, pickup or delivery.
Would definitely go again when next in Auckland.
nice eatery for office lunches, fusion of thai and chinese. you might want to pre-book to avoid rush hour queues.
A place hidden away in the central city producing great food at a reasonable price. The Rotis are delicious previously I have had a curry and chicken and cashew nut, this time it was Chicken satay with vegetables good dish. Friendly service and popular with the locals.
Food was great, they served very fast.
Best noudles of Auckland, the Pad Thaï Chicken are very amazing 🤩
Great food and appropriately priced!! I got the massaman curry. They gave lots of tofu and veggies and the curry base was very tasty! Not too salty or spicy for my Indian palette.
Went there last Thursday first time, I really did enjoy their food, quick service, friendly staff and good prices. The food is really tasty and filling. Could do with improving the Gluten-free meals, otherwise well worth a try if you’re around the area.
Reasonable price. I tried tomyum before on my first visit, it was just alright, hence no high expectation when i went for the second time - but green curry was fantastic. The staff was kind enough to remind me it'll be spicy though, but i personally find it to be the perfect spice level for green curries :)
I guess this Thai restaurant is currently ranked as number one Thai restaurant in the Auckland CBD. I don't know how to explain the feeling but just like eating pad thai in Bangkok. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
Very reliable, quick friendly service. And the food is good.
Nice bright and very spacious venue. Fantastic for groups - we came with a group of 12 on a Friday evening without a booking, they accommodated us no problem. Order at the counter, service is super speedy - 4 of the dishes came out before the rest of us had even finished ordering.
Pad Thai was tasty, would also recommend Duck Noodle Soup. Custard sticky rice dessert was oddly very salty, custard had an omelette-like consistency, would not get again.
Great place. The setup is very clean and new, prices are great and service was fast and friendly. The padi Thai was a little heavy on the sause and richness but still enjoyed it. Also tried the red curry, both nice meals at a great price. Would recommend.
Had dinner on a Friday night. Potions are big doing some justice for the price we pay. However, the taste is very average. Only few shrimps and wontons were in the first dish which is a wonton and shrimp soup. More prominent taste there was bok choy, which is not what its name suggest. However, I personally loved their interior design and spacious nature of the restaurant.
