Friendly staff and delish chips. Burger was filling and not messy. A++ and very enjoyable
My broli burger was delicious and filling. I especially liked the fried chicken and homemade pickles inside my burger and thought it was worth its price ($12.90). My boyfriend also enjoyed his swanson burger with the double beef patties and bacon ($14.40). We also ordered the bacon ends and cheese croquettes sides to share between us. They were yummy, but we were a bit disappointed that we only got three croquettes (pictured) for $5.90. We would've liked to receive more or at least know what the portion size/amount on the menu before ordering in the future. Will definitely come back to try more of their burgers, sides and hot wings! :)
Raynor was a 5+ burger highly recommended, great service š
Excellent burgers! Iām not so keen on eating too meaty heavy meals, but these burgers were really damn great. The patties had a good substance to them - they really donāt skimp out on the patties. And theyāre super juicy and so mouthwatering even after taking them away to eat at home. Wait time was really good too.
On my next visit I might be keen to try their vegan burger, but I think youād better go for chicken or beef since itās so much more worth it in my opinion :)
Burger Geek is the best burger joint Auckland Central. Burgers are great sized and delicious and the range of sides are absolutely mouth-watering. Definitely will not disappoint
The Swanson burger was absolutely delicious, I love the variety of burger and side options available and everything is so well priced! The only flaw is that there's limited seating but the staff are lovely and the service was quick despite being very busy. This is definitely a new favourite.
visited this burger joint recently and boy was I impressed! Their menu consists of a wide range of mouth-watering and filling burgers to choose from and some tasty sides. We got the Krabby with juicy and well-cooked angus and wagyu beef patties, and the Mustang which had crunchy buttermilk fried chicken with kimchi aioli for some spice. For sides, we had JalapeƱo Poppers, Bacon Ends & Cheese Croquettes, Mac n Cheese balls (my fave!) plus large wings with honey siracha sauce - what a feast, right? Everything was damn delicious and although was a pretty large order, it was all served quick and fresh.
Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie to follow more of my tried eats.Ā
Buffalo wings and the beef burgers are amazing.
Cool spot for freshly made burgers. We tried the krabby burger and jalapeno poppers. Both were great. Will be back for sure. You can do phone orders and then pick up š
The best chicken burger in town! I tried the mustang and the kimchi ones, I prefer the mild one.
Chicken wings and fries with rosemary salt were yum too. Worth a try. Staffs were super nice and friendly, not geeky at all
Best burgers around the area. I generally get the bishop and jalapeno poppers with a drink and it's for a reasonable price. If you feel like a chicken burger the broli is pretty good. Or if you are super hungry and craving a beef burger check out the Raynor. Wings are pretty decent as well.
Burgers here are very good. Have tried the Morty , Bishop, Krabby and Swanson and all good burgers. Also love the jalopeno poppers. Good place and good vibes. Would come back again.
Great burgers here
Nice handy spot
These guys know there game very well
Great options
Well run clean and healthy
You need to try it
One of the best tried
Delicious food! Great menu, done well. The bishop burger was amazing, great fillings and bun. The chicken wings were awesome. Loved it and will definitely be back
The BEST burger I have ever tasted in Auckland and/or New Zealand at a very fair price!
Prime Wagyu and Angus meat. Excellent flavour.
The sides are awesome also. Looking forward to trying the chicken wings.
So glad there is truly a great burger place in Auckland and service with a smile.
There's no where else in Auckland that does classic American smash burgers. If you're a burger purist, this is definitely the place to go! Lots of meaty charred flavours balanced out with bright pickles and mustard
Took about 15min to get my burger at lunch time 12.45pm-ish. The burgers taste fresh and āhome-madeā (clean), and doesnāt have the fast food taste you might get at chains.
Reasonable cost and tastes pretty good, but doesnāt necessarily stand out as a place to deliberately make your way out for.
...But if you do get the chance, does pretty decent burgers overall and can recommend.
Got the mustang burger which was great but very spicy! Really wish that had a warning or something haha. Really decent burger for the price though Iāll definitely come back, you should really consider having other locations šš¼
First Visit and the burgers were Spot ON!!! Definitely worth visiting again for there other range of burgers. Tried Morty and Mustang and loved them. Great friendly and always smiling staff. Cant wait to be there again soon.

Had the Mustang. Best. Burger. Ever! Will be back to try something different.
Open kitchen, friendly staff and a massive portion for a small price. No time for pictures!!
What a lovely burger place on Symonds Street! I generally believe that restaurants with small menus are cleverer than the vice versa. They only need to focus on a small range of ingredients and cooking, also make sure everything is fresh out of the stove.
It's pretty much ONE thing on their menu - BURGER! Tasty, healthy (as I believe most of the ingredients are homemade), and not over priced!
Friendly staffs, cool industrial ambiance, easy phone ordering, love this place a lot.
Just one issue bothers me - it's almost a takeaway place. Only two tables in the store and they aren't always clean. Most of the times you have to share your table with strangers or you have nowhere to sit.
Seriously delicious!!! The burger melts in your mouth and tastes like quality. The best mac and cheese balls Iāve had in a while and even the fries were extra special :)
Great burger! Fresh and very tasty. Raynor burger is my favourite! Special sauce with a rosti! Small place perfect for take away. I recommend it
These guys make solid burgers - very tasty. There is limited seating available, so whether or not you can eat in depends on how busy it is at the time you arrive. I suppose it's operated more as a takeaway restaurant. The service was really good - very friendly staff.
The brioche bun is to die for, fluffy and soft and crisp around the edges. The cheeseburger was also great, but the flavours got a bit samey same towards the end.
It was the first time having rosmary salted fries, and damn I wouldn't want to have my French fry any other way again.
You know that youāre winning at life when instead of drinks and dancing, you opted for some board game sessions at Cakes & Ladders!Ā
Well probably not, and this is more of a one-off event than a weekly activity, we arrived at the board game cafĆ© earlier so we could try Burger Geek. We were lucky that the place was relatively empty when we go there which meant that we didnāt have to wait too long for our burgers! I really like the simplistic theme theyāve got going on, a decent range of burgers some different sides and soda drinks. I had the Swanson and I thought my burger was pretty beasty, it was better than those you would get at a pub especially because of how the bourbon sauce complimented the juicy smashed pattie. Quality burgers thatās for sure, but the real winners for me were the sides. Those mac&cheese ballsā¦.. unbelievable, like I could of downed 10 of those with my burger, they were that great. I personally thought the wings were kinda average but literally, everyone else loved them so Iāll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Such a sweet place and conveniently located to Cakes and Ladders, this is one burger stop that you must try!
Showstopper: Mac&Cheese balls & Wings
Overall Grade: B+
Been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally got around to it! I ordered over the phone and made it in just in time before they closed. I can't say I was that impressed with the customer service, both the staff members didn't welcome us, and looked like they'd rather be anywhere but there. Fortunately the burgers were good, we had the Morty. I don't think I'd come out here to specifically have this, but if I was around I probably would.
Delicious burgers and sides! We had the Swanson and Broli. The burger buns are soft and the chicken was cooked to perfection!Ā Ā Would definitely recommend if you are wanting a good gourmet burger. Always a crowd pleaser.
Update: they definite have the best vegan burger in town!!! Sooooo delicious!
Such a great little place if you fancy a homemade burger! However, better to takeaway than dine in as they have very limited seating.
Their burgers are a bit messy and a little tricky to eat, but so delicious! I'm not a fan of beef, so usually go for Broli. It's a must try and has everything a good chiken burger needs: crispy chicken and slaw, melted cheese, tnagy pickles and yummy aioli.Ā
Fries and mac n cheese balls are nice too, but wings are just average.
The only thing I wish they had is consistency! One day you get nice crispy fries, but another - overcooked. Same thing with meats in their burgers.
I ordered the Raynor burger which had 2 patties, hash brown, aioli, cheese & onions. My sister ordered chicken wings with bacon croquettes. I loved the croquettes. Would try the other options well. Efficient service and friendly staff.
Love a good gourmet burger and burger geek is another one to add to the list. I had the basic morty burger which was tasty but the actual winner for me was the onion strings. As the name implies they were only lightly Battered and so yum. Definition worth checking out!
I arrived around 5:30pm which was their opening time and there already two groups there to make an order.
I ordered the Swanson Burger, Taco Egg Rolls and Mac & Cheese balls. Unfortunately, they ran out of taco egg rolls so I switched it with the Bacon Ends and Cheese Potato Croquettes.
The Swanson burger was flavourful, the smashed beef patty was juicy and soft. It felt so light and soft as if it weren't even there but you know it is there when you chew on it. The BBQ sauce was smoky and tangy. And the onions strings provided a some nice crisp and crunchy texture and onion sweet taste. The batter of the onion strings were a bit too salty if you eat it on its own but is alright when you eat the burger as a while with it).
The Mac and Cheese balls had a gooey center with a smokey bacon and cheesy taste to it. The outside of the balls are breaded and fried to crispy, dark brown perfection.
The potato croquettes were delish, having a bacon-ny, and cheese taste to it while having a mash potatoes consistency texture in the middle. The outside, like the Mac & Cheese Balls were also deep fried to perfection
Service was friendly and fast. I wanted to wash my hands and asked if I could use their sink in the kitchen but they said I couldn't (due to council regulations). So they offered to let me use the toilet of another restaurant they owned about 4 stores away. Thanks guys!
This place is a 4.9/5 but ZomatoĀ ain't about that.Ā
Burger Geek is bomb asf. Had to make an account to say how dope this place was.Ā Came here tonight with my boys and the boo. The wings go so hard. Burgers are god tier, so tasty and delicious. The mac & cheese balls were on another level of gustatory enjoyment.
The place was so chill,Ā had really nice vibes. The only reason it's not a 5 for me personally is that y'all don't have lemon pepper wings on the side menu. If you guys pick that up, (wet or dry, either work) I'd be pretty stoked.
Other than that, this place is so fresh. Eating here will give you a better quality of life. Highly recommend if you like not being a square and not missing out on good things that will make you really happy.
These guys serve up the best burgers in Auckland! As well as the staff providing cheerful vibes. My partner and I have almost tried the whole menu and can't fault anything! 10/10 love Burgergeek
Exceeded my expectations by far. Andy's burgers could take tips from this joint. Portions were great, burger was moist with the right amount of filling that won't be spilt on the plate. Chicken wings were great along with the macaroni balls. Staff were friendly and relaxed. thanks for the great bite.
The menu is simple with a good variety. I like the sides menu. The burgers are generous in size and the buns are so smooth and fluffy.
Service is pretty quick and the place is clean and tidy. Food is nicely packaged.
The place is a bit small but their burgers are adsolutely tasty. They offer a special price if you order a burger with sides and drink. Will def come back to try their wings
Good burgers . Had the Krabby. Your simple cheeseburger with salad. Patties are Angus and Waygu mixed together. Great taste . Fries were nice too . I ordered large comes with aioli. Portion was definitely large and to share. Tried the Mac n cheese balls , not really really my thing but my partner loved them . Prices are very reasonable compared to other uptown burger places. Spend around $30- $40 for 2 people including sides and drinks. Limited spacing with seats . As most people takeaway ,dine in option is available if you wish. Would recommend
Ordered a bunch of burgers Ā and hot wings here for a shared lunch at work. Peter was awesome to deal with, and so was the rest of his friendly staff! I had the Sombra burger which was delicious, and so was the onion strings. However, we ordered mango habanero hot wings - it was meant to be their hottest flavor but it was more sweet than spicy! Still yum though ! Would definitely go here again!

After spending most of my Friday evenings trying the next new burger joint, Burger Geek really got my attention with their menu serving up free-range meats, wagyu blended beef and sourcing their buns from local bakers. The Swanson, a deliciously tender patty and melted in your mouth with every next bite. Great flavours without being too technical or too much going on.
Potentially best burger joint in Auckland. Epic burgers. Really amazing sides (jalapeƱo poppers) and $1 Pepsi! Everything tastes amazing the service is great and the price is perfect šš¾šš¾
Absolutely delicious! These are good quality burgers that everyone wants. Excellent service and the two times our work have all ordered lunch, we have never been given a wrong order! The only comment that was said re: the Mango Habanero sauce on the wings, was it wasn't as hot as she was hoping. The JalapeƱo poppers were delicious! And so the Krabby burger was so good to! Would definitely recommend!
This place is quite small, with just a few seats, probably with the purpose to encourage takeaways. But despite the small space, you could tell that the owner has good taste. I loved the counter which was made from the coloured wooden bars, the brick walls, and the contemporary art. The pot plants also made the place lively.
Service was very slow despite there being only a few guests when we visited. I think they were working on a huge takeaway order or something.
But none of that mattered when the food came, because DAMN they were good food. The burger buns were the gourmet brioche style buns, which were firm and buttery. The best part was how generous they were with the ingredients. My sister said the patty of her BBQ beef burger was made from high quality meat, although she wished that there were some salad in the burger to freshen then whole thing.
My 'mustang' buttermilk fried chicken burger with kimchi aioli did not taste like kimchi, but the sauce was still spicy, tangy, and delicious. The fried chicken had a perfect crispy outside and super tender on the inside.
However the stars of the show were the mac & cheese balls. They were super rich, creamy, and cheesy, definitely triple cheese as the name suggested. I could eat 6 of them :)
All in all despite the slow service, this place is seriously understated, as it is one of the best burgers that I have tasted in Auckland.
Good burgers but need to order in advance as its so busy and there will be a good wait otherwise times ive gone . friendly staff too and some cool names but there are also too limited seats inside
Good burgers, great sides. Good price. Good drinks selection and very friendly staff. Could potentially do with a better area to eat in. And a bin would be great. Very good burger option though
My new favourite burger joint. I heard good things about Burger Geek from friends, so I had to try it out.
I ordered the Bishop burger and the Sriracha Honey Hot Wings.
When I took my first bite I got a hit of flavour from the sauces, the bacon was crunchy, succulent Angus & Wagyu beef with melted cheese, spicy JalapeƱos and finally tangy pickles. Definitely a lot of flavour in one burger.
My only complaint is these burgers are pretty messy, so I wish I had something to hold the burger together. The sauces were dripping down my hand and the JalapeƱos & pickles kept popping out the sides.
The Sriracha honey hot wings were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, sweet from the honey with a slight kick from the Sriracha.
The quirky art decorating the walls is pretty cool. I'll definitely be back so I can go through more of their menu.
This has quickly become my favourite burger place. The beef burgers are amazingly juicy and the meat is great quality. The chicken burger is great too, crunchy and moist. They are also well priced for what you get. The seasoning on the fries is always perfect, love the rosemary! The mac n cheese balls could do with some more seasoning inside. The staff are always friendly and enthusiastic both in person and over the phone.
Food is pretty good, I love their fries and their hot wings with the Dr. Pepper and BBQ sauce marinade. Food comes out pretty quick, and items not too badly priced, I'd pay no more than $23 for a burger, chips, and a drink.
Coworkers and I had lunch here yesterday. I loved it so much that I wanted to go back today (but my waistline stopped me). The Swanson burger I had was fantastic - meaty, perfectly cooked, just the right size, with delicious toppings. It made the perfect amount of mess when I ate it. Fries were fantastic - get the large; they're worth it - and the jalapeno poppers and A&W root beer made me homesick for the US. Go here and you will not regret it!
Probably the best burger I've had in a long while! The mac n cheese balls and jalapeƱo poppers are a must have but would give the wings a skip next time.
I went to Burger Geek for lunch just after it opened and was very surprised to see how popular it was, there was a line stretching out the door. At that point they hadn't even got their website up and running so was a real indication that the area was in serious need of some delicious burger love.Ā
Ordered the Zim (the vegan burger) and the fries - really loved the burger and the shitake jam (was so good I would have loved more). It's very also refreshing to have vegetarian options that aren't just falafel, particularly in a place that has quite a heavy emphasis on the quality of their meet (they smoke their own bacon and apparently their hot wings are to die for according to friends). It really shows that they've put a bit more effort into it than just making the vegetarian option a side thought which I love. Also very much enjoyed their fries.
Customer service was really great too, friendly despite the fact that they were obviously extremely busy which is always nice.Ā
I will be heading back here ASAP to pick up another burger and try some of their sides, love the sound of their vege nuggets and the mac and cheese balls.
Have been been here twice now! Had the mustang the first time around and the bishop the second time both of which I inhaled at a particularly alarming speed giving the size of them... so good!!! I had onion strings each time too, again awesome and the mac and cheese balls. Can't wait to go back for a third time!
I've tried nearly all the sides and one of their chicken burgers My Favourite burger is the "Swanson"... So much meat!!! cooked to perfection every time and their home smoked bacon is to DIE for!!!! Everything I've had so far has been very yum!
Totally recommend! This isn't your typical "fast food" joint. The food is made by people who really take pride in serving great quality food. It might take a little longer but OMG the wait is worth it.
Went for takeaways tonight; quick and easy - took around 10 minutes for food. Ordered the bishop and a side of onion strings. Didn't get a chance to take photos as I devoured the burger it was soooo good! And the onion strings are worth their own trip - flavourful, crispy and very addictive.
Will definitely be back.
A new burger joint which opened up on upper Symons street, and what a treat it is! We had fairly high expectations going in and they were definitely met (though part of it could have been because we were starving!). The food comes out very quick so you're not having to wait long.
I definitely recommend the Mustang while my sisters recommend the Swanson. Both burgers are amazing and the actual burger bun is incredible! We also really loves the shoestring fries, coming from people who normally prefer beer battered fat fries. The Croquette and the Mac and Cheese balls are amazing!!!
We also managed to try the hot wings with honey and Siracha sauce, they are so good, some of the best hot wings I've ever had.
Overall this is a place we'll be coming back to all the time, if only it was a bit bigger so more people could sit and dine in!
What a cute little joint it is! Simple and inviting decor. Customer service was super friendly :) menu includes burgers, buffalo wings (choose your sauces), Mac and cheese balls and jalapeƱo poppers. Yummy.
When I crave some fried chicken I come here. The buttermilk chicken burger is so tasty! Slightly salty though but so crunchy.
I also got the small wings with honey w. sriracha sauce. deep fried goodness but It was lacking sauce and somehow the honey combo didn't do it for me! I'm sticking with buffalo sauce next time.
Definitely get the sides!!! I always get too much but never regret it :)
Such amazing service, very fast turn around for amazing tasting burgers! Have had the beef and the chicken burgers and are both as amazing as each other! Very juicy and delicious! 100% recommend adding a side of Hot Wings too
Second visit to this place and ordered the Swanson burger.
One thing I love about the burger is the patty- the heart of every burger. It's made of angus-wagyu cuts blend (at least it's what they claim) which is finely smashed, pressed, and grilled to perfection, resulting in a crisp, juicy, and very beefy patty. 9.5/10
The bacon was also a wonder. It's juicy, tender, and cooked very well. I usually go for crispy bacon, but I don't think a crispy bacon fits this type of burger.
The burger can also come with fries. They're shoestrings with rosemary, salt, and aioli dipping. The fries are crunchy, a bit too dry for my liking but still perfect nonetheless.
Overall, I don't think that 9.5/10 is too much, especially for a 15.9 NZD burger. Hell, it may as well be a 10/10 if I can't find any better burgers.
The self order kiosk was very convenient and the customer service was lovely and quick. The burgers and chicken wings were delicious and worth their prices. However I can not say the same for their sides.
The fries were okay but I miss the thin shoe string fries they used to have. As for the other sides the quantity is very disappointing ($6.90 for the amount of onion rings in the picture). A bit overpriced for what you receive and nothing special.
Would go back, but probably just for the burgers and wings.
Great burger, and the fries whit a seasoning twist really good ššš
#beef burger#
Bread is softļ¼beef patties are a little thinļ¼not juicy enoughļ¼sauce is special.
By the wayļ¼limited on street parking.
First time here, and I will repeat for sure. Great Swanson hamburger, and great fries. Loved the rosemary flavor on them...
Ok so back in 2020 this was voted the best burger š joint in the world š
Now in 2023 it's still in the top 3 which is super impressive, I just had to check it out. I walked half a hour through the hilly roads of Auckland New Zealand to get to this place. Knowing that I've done my cardio, I was really excited to try this burger and was hoping they would have vegi or halal options available and to my surprise they do have halal options available Alhumdulillah!
I ordered myself a Morty halal burger with fries and a drink, on there computer screen and you can see the wonderful stuff preparing our food and getting it ready. Yes It's reference to Rick and Morty there's a lot of cool anime references in BG. My meal was made quite quickly and it all looked great, š taste test š well what can I say this is the best burger I've ever had. I super recommend this establishment. Seriously if you are in Auckland NZ why haven't you tried Burger Geek !!!!!!!!
As mentioned before I did contact BG before visiting to ask them if they serve halal burger, they responded fast and I set off to order the best burger I've ever had. We need a BG in London if we don't have one already.
The good thing about going with someone was that we could get a burger and wings and share them! Wings were nice and burger was awesome. Definitely a good choice to come here.
Leaving a review after going to a different burger spot and realising just how good I had it at burger geek
Their food slaps every time. Iām gluten free and they have never gotten my order wrong. Their fries are nothing crazy but they hit the spot and you get a nice amount
I love you guys - Iām sorry I cheated on you with another burger spot, wonāt happen again
Burgers were very tasty, almost too much flavour! Very juicy and succulent. Hot wings were tasty but small for the price.
Great burger, you get what you pay for. But for me the best thing about it are sides. The fries are by far the best one I had and the fried cheese stuffed jalapenos were sooooo good. We ordered couple of times and always happy with our choice. All the burgers were awesome. Cheers guys
Best burgers in town but get the aioli on the side to avoid the soggy bun. GF options. Ditch the seasoning on the fries if you prefer them plain.
The staff at the restaurant were friendly, and despite the burger not being my preferred style (as I typically prefer juicy meat over smashed patties), it was still delicious.
Super quick service and delicious burgers, worth every penny. Really well-priced for what you get in terms of portion sizing and quality.
I am not a burger person but Burger Geek probably is the best burger I have tried in Auckland! Next time I would like to have some hot wings. By the way I like their Bishop Wagyu beef burger.
Some of the best burgers in town. Absolutely delicious smash burgers with sensational sides. Would definitely come back again.
Great burgers and sides. Very tasty and the buns are fresh and delicious. Jalapeno poppers are very good
wat a burger! never ever seen the quality burger at this super reasonable price. will try one of all burger. so yummy.
