Nice little ramen place. Ramen is as authentic as Japan and the gyoza is yummy as well. Their portions are huge too.

Had lunch here recently with a friend . Non fuss spot for ramen .I really like it ,large reasonable portions but more noodles to extras good to have on a cold day. You can tell they make their noodles and broth ,felt very much so like food made for a home. I had the pork belly ramen ,a slight smaller portion with plenty pork but could have had more veg . My friend had the miso ramen ,much larger portion and looked good would recommend this . And had the agadashi tofu served more in a broth than used to but very good too. Great lunch spot for a filling lunch
We picked the miso and paitan salt pork broths, they both had a very deep and authentic flavour, not too salty either. The ramen is hand made and cooked till it was firm which is my preference. The portion size is quite big, especially as they were only ~$13. The egg was cooked very well with the Centre gooey. The pork belly was tender, but the chashu was quite bland and tough. Keen to go back and try their other selections
Huge bowl of delicious ramen! Delicious meat ball noodles and broth.
It was my first time trying ramen and honestly !! It was satisfying and so yummy! Friendly services, fair prices & hot food! Fresh too, will be coming back š¤Ŗš
Best ramen in Auckland, the subtle extras they do like really boiling their broth for over 12 hrs(many commercial joints now use msg premix), marinating theirs eggs in a sweet soy ginger sauce, bbq the braised meat, smoking their mince and stir frying their sprouts for the wok taste gives a perfect harmony and burst of umami to the mouth. We did the rounds tasting the majority of ramen shops and conjure that Ramen Do is still the best!
Best ramen place in Auckland
A nice and cozy place and friendly staff. The noodles and meat portion were generous. Gyoza is bigger than usual. However I find the broth not as rich as I hoped it to be. Comparing to the ramen joints around akl, I prefer ajisen richer broth. But that's a personal preference. Otherwise it is still a very tasty ramen joint and cheap eat.
Their Gyokai soy ramen is on par with Tanpopo's ramen which was better than any ramen I had in Japan.
Big portion, decent pricing for the taste and portion. Taste authentic.
This place has been a favourite of ours for around 5 years or so, beautiful food, always hot and the noodles are prefect. Weāve got a 2 years old that loves coming here now as well.
I came here with my family for lunch on a Sunday and we arrived at 12pm, which is when they open. By 12:15pm, it was already packed with people. The service was efficient and friendly too with extremely affordable ramen.Ā
We got the takoyaki to share and it was pretty good, but I'd like to try other sides next time. It is $6 for 6 takoyaki so I'm not too sure if that's a good deal or not as I don't have Japanese often. I got the spicy miso ramen with extra pork belly and BBQ pork ($16) and I felt it was a flavourful bowl of ramen and not too fatty. The soup had a nice spice to it, not too spicy so you have to drink a glass of water after eating a mouthful and not too weak so you don't feel any spice. You are given sesame seeds to grind up yourself so you can add a nutty flavour into your ramen, which makes it tastier. The BBQ pork was a bit dry for my liking but the pork belly melted in my mouth due to the fattiness. The noodles weren't soft/overcooked either, which definitely makes a good bowl of ramen. The rest of my family also got the miso ramen but they had the large-sized ramen and my brother had the kaedama extra.Ā
Ramen Do is definitely an affordable place to grab a delicious bowl of ramen and it's in a convenient location too!
The serving of their ramen is huge. There is a generous amount of ramen noodles and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I ordered the miso ramen and it came with the sesame seeds for you to grind and put it into your bowl of noodles. Really love the ground sesame seeds and the egg with runny yolk.

Ohhh Ramen, I canāt get enough of this one. Itās one of the best comfort meals ever made. In my whole existence I had tried many ramens already even the ones in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The real Japanese ones was so good, they really take their broth so seriously but out of Japan its quite a hit and miss for me but not in New Zealand. Most of the ones I tried here are comparable to the ones in Japan, I even made a list on where to get the best ones and one of those was our restaurant for today Ramen Do.
Love this little ramen gem. Very low key interior nothing fancy. But good honest ramen served up quickly and delish every time. Hangover cure šÆ
Really nice miso pork ramen with great textured noodles! Great portions! Definitely opt for the extra meat. Is worth the additional $2. Great on a cold winter day. Just the right amount of salt but I can see that some may find the broth a little salty. Would love to try the other ramen bowls. Not sure where to start!
The ramen here is very nice possibly the best ramen Iāve had in Auckland. The noodles are very nice they have a nice bite to them and are very good consistency. The staff were also very nice and very vigilant.
Got the pork based miso ramen and gyokai ramen. Extra meat is the way to go. Great for a winters night out and you want something to warm you up. Love the noodle texture and bowl full of soup which you just have to drink to the bottom of the bowl. Probably one of the few places in Auckland where you can get close to authentic ramen in Japan. Takoyaki is also quite decent if a bowl of ramen isn't enough to fill you up.
One of the better ramen places in Auckland. The Hokkaido miso ramen here is very unique and authentic, with a rich, minced-based soup; nicely charred pork belly and well-cooked noodles - in my opinion this is the best miso ramen in Auckland. Their donburis are also very good for a quick lunch. All dishes are reasonably priced and portion sizes are generous, would definitely recommend this place for lunch.

Great little ramen place. They offer a $5 kid ramen which my kids loved! Their meals are delicious and great value. Service was friendly and prompt.
One of the top ramen stores in Auckland. Small space but exciting atmosphere. Ramen was delicious with generous portions and inexpensive price. I always check this place out when Iām in town.

Decent Japanese Ramen Restaurant in Eden Terrace.
Quite decent ramen in this place, I found mine a bit too salty but the portion and texture was good.
I believe my experience could have been better if i picked a ramen that I normally enjoy instead of something off specials menu.

One of the best ramen in Auckland and for once they open on a Sunday! Their ramen is so authentic and reasonable in price. Portion is generous. We tried the hokkaido miso ramen, love the slab of pork belly and those oozy yolk. The spicy shrimp ramen is also not bad with stir fry veges on top. Their tuna rolled rice and gyoza are delish too. Tako is pretty standard.
The drink ramune is very interesting and I really enjoyed it. This place obviously specialise in ramen. Unfortunately it was a very hot day and didn't have any air con or fans on. Food was very good though.
Really enjoyed my bowl of spicy miso ramen! Soup was hearty and satisfying. Egg was the ramen styled egg and not hard boiled. Had a little too much beansprouts in the dish though... But I can't complain at all for the price of $13, what a great bowl of ramen! I'll be back for sure.
Nice little cozy place located on busy Symonds street. The medium bowl serving size, I thought, was massive! You can tell that the noddles was freshly made and was soft and chewy. I got their chicken based paitan salt ramen and my sister got the miso based ramen, which came with sesame seeds in a mortar with pestle for your to grind and add chilli flakes to your desired spice level. Both were really flavourful...I canāt say Iāve enjoyed eating noodle soup before this experience. I donāt know what their secret is with their soft boiled eggs, but it was really delicious. Easy on the pockets, friendly staff and fast service. Definitely recommend, and would visit again
Best ramen in Auckland, packs its flavor and generous on the quantity.. the place gives great ambience, simple decors and excellent food. Need more branches around NZ.
Authentic and full of flavour!
This little Japanese ramen place is more than you expected. BEWARE their spicy noodles pack a punch! The spiciest ramen Iāve had in Auckland!
Broth was creamy and great tasting you canāt help but to slurp the noodles to the last drop.
The eggs are authentic ramen noodle ones with soft centre. So good.

We stopped in for lunch today and it was such a cute little place, and cheap too.Ā
The food was really good and filling - so definitely value for money. The portion sizes are quite large, I don't think most people were able to finish their meals, but in a good way!Ā
I had the Tofu Donburi which was yum! So here's a cute little photo of my meal too
Highly recommend! Made a booking for 5 since its a small place to ensure seating. All the tables were constantly occupied during the 1 and half hours we were there.
Attentive, prompt and friendly service.
Food came out quick, had the chicken paitan ramen large. Noodles were thick and the broth was well seasoned the chicken in the dish was juicy and had great flavour to it, it wasn't just a piece of roast plane chicken dumped in the soup.
Also tasted the ponzu chicken which was full of flavors. You might wana grab a large since the regular one was quite small.
Great find!!
Ramen is pretty nice and friendly service. Lots of mungbean which I really liked in the ramen. Had Tofu don which was also quite nice and want to try the gyoza after seeing a lady making it.
This Japanese place is more authentic than the last jap place i ate at, i had the miso soup ramen and the ramen was well made to the correct gauge and bite and soup hearty, had a bok choy biff in for a extra buck too.
Very well patronized with friendly nice lookingĀ staff working there, site located in that forgotten part of Symond street.
Not really mah taste of Ramen. The service is good, this place seems packed during dining hours. The Ramen soup and the egg taste really nice, but the meat is just pure of fatness.Ā
The food portion is good. The side dishes are meh. Seems like a popular place but not my first choice in town for Ramen.

What an awesome little ramen shop! Highly recommend checking out this place, we ordered a vegetarian ramen soup which was just stocked of delicious mushrooms, seaweeds, bean sprouts, egg and so much flavour and ramen, and was only ($12) for a massive dish! We also ordered the chefs recommendation which was a soy and pork broth with a delicious piece of pork meat, little bit of mince pork , mushrooms, eggs and seaweed, this was also only about ($12-13). This was one of best little ramen places we been to for such a cheap price! We also ordered vegetarian gyoza for only $4.5 and they were so delicious! Meal was only about $35-$37 dollar for two people, including drinks!
Hole in a wall, very non descript but beautiful food! You get transported to japan while enjoying their various beautiful ramens. Huge menu and i am working slowly thru the items. Will come back again!

I am not a ramen eater but I have been here for the sole purpose of eating their teriyaki donburi.
And it was delicious. It was a pretty good portion meal, and it was very delicious and succulent.
I had both the tofu and the teriyaki as well. It was a pretty good price overall. There were condiments available on the table that I can get my hands into easily which I really enjoyed.
I had a taste of their miso ramen soup and it was really good as well. It was dissolved in a semi fatty, slightly thick base but the flavour was very concentrated that I really liked it too.
Overall, I am happy with what I paid and my time here and definitely would be back :D
Man this place how do I say it. It is definitely a gem in my personal opinion. The ramen here is quite clean and has a lot of depth to it. I got the large miso ramen with extra pork and it was really filling and extremely good. The egg which was included is cooked perfectly and the noodles were on point. The wait time for food isnt too long (prob takes around 5ish min?) And it has a nice atmosphere. One added little gimmick they have is also a porter and pestle with some sesame seeds for you to freshly grind and add it to the ramen (you can choose not to do so as well of course) but it makes a big difference having it freshly ground up and put in ^3^
We have been to a few ramen eateries and though some of them are actually quite good, the standout for Ramen Do is its value for money. For most ramen eateries, we often only get one piece of pork belly whereas with Ramen Do, we actually got quite a few pieces. I actually thought that they might have taken the order for the bigger bowl but that was not the case. So for $12 it is actually quite worthwhile. Also, the soup is not overall salty and the noodles are handmade. The ponzu chicken is also unique. The only thing that is different from what I am used to was the agedashi tofu. It was served in a thick soup. I am not sure whether it is a Japanese thing but this may catch some people off guard. Next time I would try their tonkatsu ramen that comes with a separate bowl of sesame seeds/paste.
Very good. Always consistent. Nice staff. Atmosphere is always great. The Ramen is up there. The price start from $12. Serves alcohol. Two people $40.
Dimmed lighting, faint jazz music, and cozy seating. RamenDo is an intimate eatery that is perfect for a small group of friends or couples on a date.Ā
I ordered a Chicken based Paiten. Amazingly grilled chicken, with a light sweetness. The chicken was not dry and held the broth flavor well. There was a chewiness to the noodles which gave it a nice texture, if youāre a slurper (Like me) then these noodles are excellent for slurping. One aspect of ramen that I will always adore is the way they do their eggs. Half boiled they put some sauce into the yolk, making it simply irresistible.
Great to hear the staff speaking Japanese, provides a sense of authenticity to the experience. A near perfect solo dining experience, Ramen Do has certainly climbed up in mind as a top ramen bar in Auckland.
Showstopper: Grilled chicken, yolk or broth, itās the combination of the ingredients that produce a fantastic wholesome meal.Ā
Overall Grade: A
What a hearty, filling bowl of ramen! I love the smokey flavour that makes this miso ramen unique compared to others I have tried. The egg is also really delicious!
The best Ramen I've had in New Zealand, with tasty food and great service. The atmosphere is calm and clean. The vegetable ramen comes with a healthy serve of veges, but has a fish base, so is not fully vegetarian. The best and only vegan option is the fried noodles, which are tasty. I highly rate Ramen Do and its my go-to!
Just been here for dinner.Ā The restaurant was not too big. That night was quite crowded. But surpringly the wait was not too long. The service was as expected. The food was tasty and the serving was reasonably large and the prices were acceptable.
We are happy with the restuarant and it's food and will definitely return.
Really loved this place. Ten-ten would go back again. Portions were rly big for about nzd 12-13, but the main highlight of this place was the soup base used for the ramen. It was everything you could want from a hearty ramen soup and more. Their noodles were slightly different from the straight common variety easily found in most restaurants and are slightly curly but not as curly as instant noodles. They also had the authentic Japanese tea egg in their ramen which all of the other Japanese restaurants that I've been to lacked. All in all, give this place a try if you wanna experience authentic Japanese cuisine at low prices. No complaints at all.
My journey to find good ramen continued. In Auckland I found lots of Japanese immigrant means lots of authentic Japanese resto. Finally I decided on this one, the ramen bowl is big serve, and the taste not disappointing at all. I totally reccomended this place to anyone.
Came here on a Sunday evening. Itās a popular ramen place for the locals and their serving sizes are pretty big for its price. We got the Hokkaido miso ramen, spicy and non-spicy, agedashi tofu, and takawasa.
The takawasa, had a bit of a chilli-sour taste to it which takes the fishy smell away from the raw octopus and just makes it more edible and flavorful. The agedashi tofu was thick in soup and had a light salty taste to it.
The ramen however, was a bit overhyped. The Hokkaido is their most popular dish, and the broth was flavorful, but the ramen (thin egg noodles) was bland as it didnāt absorb the flavor from the broth. Other than that, service was attentive yet busy.

Our go to place for ramen. They have a good variety and specify on the menu the type of meat used in each broth, very helpful for people with dietary restrictions.

The ramen's really good here really traditional Japanese ramen that made me feel like I was in Tokyo!!! The grilled pork belly! Omg sooo yummmm! Thanks for the good food with reasonable price and good service. The dumplings were juicy tasty too! We only saw one chief cooking in a small kitchen busy all the time so well done chief. Had Armageddon show on that day so some people dressed up funny crazy to come here made us laughed a while.
Was pleasantly surprised with this place. Ramen broth was pipping hot and slices of pork was so delicious. We also tried takoyaki and it was amazing. Tasted just like in japan. Must visit!

Hokaido Ramen with extra corns. The serving of the ramen was a lot and nicely done. Cold pork mince in the ramen was new to me. Soup was tasty and not too salty. Pork belly was very tender. There were an influx of customers right after my noodles arrived. The young malaysian girls were very intersted in my order and decided to go fo the same. There were a lot of other noodles and don options to choose from. This place was featured in top 100 city eating.
I come here several times, the staff is always friendly and the service is good.
It's a little traditional Japanese Ramen restaurant, but I feel cozy and quiet. I enjoy eating here.
Every time I order spicy miso soup ramen and my partner orders normal miso soup ramen. They put white sesame in a little bowel next to the noodle. You will smell a light aroma of sesame after grinding it, and then put them into the noodle and mix them. Wow, so beasutiful......
My friend and i came here yesterday at 5:30pm and the place was almost empty but as we were leaving the place was packed. Very delicious and tasty and the noodles are like instant noodles. But the broth for the gyokai ramen was the best and it tasted very good with the noodles. But the egg was too uncooked for my liking because the yolk tasted too slimy in a way. Overall very yummy but i still dont know what the seasme is used really because my friend got it for miso ramen.
What could be more perfect on a cold winter's night than a big bowl of steaming soupy ramen! Service is always good, food comes out quickly and prices reasonable. Even the most basic ramen is super filling but there are options to add on more meat etc, or other sides like a soft boiled egg if you wish. They also have a rice bowl option which I definitely need to come back for.

I order the pork belly reman and vegetable dumplingļ½the dumpling taste a little bit bitter because of the cabbage ā¦ā¦I don't like this. The soup of noodle is rich in flavor ,really nice. But the pork belly and BBQ pork are flavorless and chewy ā¦ā¦I really don't understand how it could be chef recommend?
Hands down the best ramen in Auckland, and to be honest I can't imagine it getting any better than this. The ramen is consistently delicious with a very unique smokey miso broth, sesame seeds on the side, and excellent presentation. There is also always hot green tea on tap.
We had spicy miso based ramen & basic miso based ramen. And takoyaki as the side.
Both were so flavorful, the own-ground sesame seeds gave an extra kick of the ramen. The portion is a bit too big for me, but just fine compared to its price.
Definitely a good place for dinner in the cold weather š

I had been wanting to try Ramen Do ever since it was recommended to me as one of the top ramen spots in Auckland.
My friend and I were not disappointed in the least when we dropped by today for lunch. The mukashi pork ramen was delicious; the broth, topping, and noodles were all on point. I would say the ramen noodles were on par with the ones at Tanpopo Ramen. The texture was just right, and it tasted fresh with a slightly eggy flavour (in a good way).
Thereās a pretty good range of ramen dishes that are well-priced, with the option to add extra meat for only $2 extra. The menu also tells you what the soup base is made of, in case you have dietary requirements. While Ramen Do can be a little crowded even at off-peak times, I'm definitely keen to come back and make this my new go-to ramen bar.
This place is quite small and you definitely do not visit for the atmosphere, but boy do they serve good food.
My sister had the teriyaki chicken don which she could not be happier with, the sauce was rich and delicious . I had the spicy miso pork ramen. The pork was very tender, and the miso soup base packed a punch. The best part was definitely their noodles, which were homemade and had the perfect springy texture. I was also delighted at the generous portion size, and how it was served with a soft boiled egg & sesame.Ā
My only complaint was that service was really slow, it took a long while before we were attended to, probably because they were too busy.Ā
Still, they serve the kind of food that you would want to come back to for comfort grabs, especially on cold winter days.
One of the best ramen in Auckland, miso ramen is the best! The noodles itself are handmade by the sensei. And the miso soup base oh my my, nothing in Auckland could beat that. As always don't go at peak dinner time because you won't find a seat at all. If you're in Auckland and crave for ramen, then must visit Ramen Do! Even lorde went there

Miso based Ramen are so good. Definetely suited to satisfy ypur cravings for real ramen. Staff are friendly too. They are delighted to assist you. I keep coming back to this place.
One of the best ramen experiences I've had in Auckland, taking top spot in my price-portion-taste ratio preference!
Their broth was jam packed with flavour. I ordered the Hokkaido Miso Ramen and opted for the spicy one with extra BBQ pork and pork belly and my friend had the traditional soy sauce base one- both were sooo differently delicious. The traditional ramen was light and almost refreshing in contrast to my thick, filling and flavoursome miso ramen.
From the photos you can see they give you a decent amount of meat and just good portions of everything else. Come here hungry because I was struggling to finish my one. Just overall very delicious and did not disappoint- a must try ramen restaurant!
Nice food and great service.
I ordered the spicy miso ramen with extra meat and it was very tasty. The menu has quite a few options but they appear quite similar. Seems very authentic though.
Staff were polite and attentive.
Ramen do is one of my regular ramen go to place. The place is small but the food packs a punch. I normally order their spicy miso ramen or their tsuke men. I also love their agedashi tofu. Their portions are generally pretty generous, with lots of vegetables and rich broth. Highly recommended!
Ramen Do is considered one of the best places to eat the famous Japanese soup in Auckland, ranking high in some famous lists.
So, be prepared for waiting to be seated, specially if you are with a group of friends.
I went alone and got the last chair in the counter. After that I was expecting to have an amazing ramen, but that was not the case.
It was good, but far from being the best in Auckland. Still think places like Ramen Takara, Tanpopo Ramen and Ramen Lab offer better food and service.
This place serves incredible Ramen. I have visited Japan many times and the ramen at Ramen Do is the real deal. It's like I am on holiday all over again. The Hokkaido ramen is particularly tasty.
Their takoyaki is really authentic with it not fully cooked inside = delicious and reminded me of Japan!!! I ordered the hokkaido spicy miso ramen for $13 and it was huuuuuge and there was a lot of veggies in it too, which I'm not used to. The only negative thing about their ramen could be that the meat is dry? Soup base was delicious and i can't wait to try their other ramen! Definitely going back for more takoyaki at least !
Amazing Japanese ramen noodle place. Great place for lunch especially for those working in the city. First time here and greatly impressed with their vegetarian ramen soup noodles. Huge bowl packed generously with vegetables, egg and seaweed. Their broth is so tasty and no msg in it. You can taste the quality of their broth. My friend ordered their beef ramen noodle soup. Her opinion was the broth was delicious and definitely brewed for ages giving it full of flavour.
For 12 bucks a bowl it's definitely worth it for a hearty meal on a cold day :)
The broth, the noodles, the flavours, the portion, the value, the friendlessness, the authenticity.... Ahhhhh Ramen Do will simply make your day. Trust me.
We Had macchiato fruit and fruit tart tick the bomb... Then the black stack pork burger on a rye bun amazing with Chips and a beef noodle salad.... All 10 out of 10 and amazing service šš¤
Recently discovered this place and thought I'd go try as I love ramen noodles! We ordered the non spicy Hokkaido miso ramen and the Paitan salt ramen, they were both not very salty which was good, as almost every other ramen place I've been to have very salty broths and I have to drink tons of water. For the same price as many other ramen places in Auckland, this place also has thicker meat slices which is good for those who have big appetites like me :P you can also add in a few extra dollars for pork belly toppings. Staff here were very friendly and service was relatively fast (less than 10 mins for the noodles to be ready) Would recommend this to anyone who wants hot brothy noodle soup for a quick lunch!

Went here on a Friday night and lucky there are some free parking nearby.
It was quite full and pretty quiet. Music was really faint and all I hear is people and their spoon and fork. (Probably just a quiet crowd haha)
The lady serving seems a bit lost but probably because its only two of them are running the shift.
Ordered the spicy miso base ramen with porkbelly and beef while my gf had the small teriyaki chicken.
The teriyaki chicken was tasty and cheap for its portion. Good for small portion eaters.
My ramen was legit that it has rich flavours. Mixture of vegetables, egg, tasty meat and yummy soup. You also get to grind some fresh sesame seeds. You can share this!
Food was pretty good but ambience and service was a bit of a let down.
I've been looking for a good ramen place in Auckland I think this place is it. Although it is not one of nice-looking restaurants but it delivers you good quality ramen. I had my ramen along with takoyaki and it was one of the best in Auckland. For those who are craving for a something warm for the coming winter, i strongly recommend this ramen place. If you like broth with rich and heavy taste, go with either salt based or miso. Otherwise, you can try soy based which is light and clean taste.
Best Ramen we've had in Auckland. Spicy Miso Ramen was tasty, as was the chicken and pork based broth my partner had. Very filling. Well deserved spot in the top cheap eats. Will be back. Soon.
Generally one of the places I go to for ramen since they do it so well. I normally go with the Hokkaido ramen with extra pork belly. The broth is always tasty and the toppings are just as nice. Also like the option of grinding your own sesame seeds so you can make it as fine or rough as you want. They also have other goodies such as dons and gyozas.
Dropped in here after a visit to the pet shop. Wow. This could quite possibly be the best Ramen I've had (and I've had a lot..) I got the salty broth and extra pork - and everything was more than satisfactory. The broth wasn't overwhelming and didn't get sickening before I got to the end of my bowl - the egg was cooked perfectly, and the noodles were tasty (perhaps a tiny bit undercooked). The BBQ pork was .. BBQ pork, I can't say it was really special but I really have no complaints.
The restaurant is spacious and has a good vibe - service was polite and wow it's a cheap eat. I recommend if you're in the mood for Ramen that you give this a try.
Tried this restaurant today for dinner and ordered a portion of takoyaki, for main we ordered one most famous miso ramen and one teriyaki don buri. It was amazing!! The miso broth on the ramen was fantastic, they grilled the bbq pork on top of the ramen as well so we can taste a bit of smokey flavor on the broth as well! They can make it spicy (by request) for the spicy food lovers! Teriyaki chicken has a beautiful flavor sweet and tangy chicken over the rice and salad. Price is reasonable and the service was good. I will definitely come back in the futurešš
Yummy ramen any day of the week! Got the tuke men which is the cold ramen with dipping sauce. Perfect in summer if you want something filling!
Ramen do is awesome!
The old school chef really has pride in his work. They look great and have a bbq sort of flavor. He acknowledges his customers and the place is clean. Service Is good and you won't get frozen dumplings here. YUM YUM!!!!
W.O.W.
Their noodles are divine. Went here on a cold rainy day had a noodles and everything were just great. Good customer service and cheap eat for True Japanese Ramen. Hai!
Brilliant Ramen place! I had the famous Hokkaido pork Ramen. dishes range from 13 to 18 and are pretty big. The dish was even wheeled to use on a little trolley with a small pestle and mortar to crush up sesame seeds. For bonus points, the chef looked like Mr Miyagi from the Karate Kid! I will definitely come back.
Best ramen I had in Auckland!! Definitely come back. I order the miso Hokkaido miso ramen, the soup is tasty and the pork belly is so tasty.
Gyokai Ramen is very delicious. In general the restaurant is very nice and it provides authentic Japanese ramen. The waitress might had a really long day when I went there, the service was not very Japanese.
Been there twice for their famous Hokkaido ramen.
Highlights: ramen soup and toppings, excellent flavoured soup base. Worth a try for every ramen lover.
Lowlights: environment, the decoration reminds me of country bar, not consistent with their food quality, the toilet was dirty as well. The service was not outstanding compared with other Japanese restaurant. Service is very important in Japanese culture, hence a little bit disappointed.
Favourite ramen place in Auckland. Why? Because they serve tasty soup, and springy noodles just the way it should be!! Also cheap eats too :)
Their best seller is the Hokkaido miso ramen but they have unique types such as gyokai ramen which is a special seafood soy sauce base. They also have vegetable ramen for a healthier choice :)
I tried their kakuni pork entree and thought it could have been more tender. Gyozas and takoyaki on the other hand were delicious and comparably cheaper to other places.
Be mindful that there is only the chef and a lady that runs the place. So service can be slow but it's worth the wait. Recently I went there and it was not a bad wait at all! Service could have more smiles from the server but they always say a genuine thank you after.
The place is clean, quiet, and a good place to eat and chat.
We've been hunting around for the best ramen place in Auckland and I think we may have found it. My partner and I both ordered the miso based soup with extra pork, and I had the spicy version. It was amazing. I especially liked the minced pork in the soup. The sides we got (takoyaki, edamame, gyoza) were also great and everything was reasonably priced. A Japanese beer went down a treat too. Plus, for a Saturday night, they weren't super busy and the service was prompt and kind. Will definitely go again.
An easy gem to walk right past! Definitely one of my favourite places to go for lunch. I am slowly working my way through the entire menu and have yet to find a ramen dish I don't love! I especially recommend the pork belly ramen. Amazing! The only thing is the atmosphere is average. They havent done much to make the interior anything special.
Visited Ramen Do with a voucher. I'm a huge ramen fan and I really enjoyed the ramen here, perfect to warm you up on a cold day!! The gyoza dumplings were also really tasty. The food is cheap even without a voucher and I'd definitely return.
Just moved to this area for work and have been trying the local outlets for lunch, this place is a winner, dine in and experience fantastic tasting authentic Japanese food on a not so exciting street, but inside it is great. Looking forward to being a regular here. I had chicken on rice today with salad between chicken and rice, not at all stodgy.
Love the Hokkaido ramen, well done guys!
Best Miso Ramen in Auckland and I am from Hokkaido. Saying something. Good job. Soup was tasty, noodles were done just right and generous serve of toppings. ćŖć¼ćÆć©ć³ćć§äøēŖćć¾ćå³åć©ć¼ć”ć³ļ¼
Ramen Do had one job to do, and it did it well. It was a cold winter night and I needed a hot bowl of flavoursome broth with some carbs in it. Job done! I've had some of the best ramen in the world in Tokyo and throughout the Kansai region so perhaps my standards are a bit high - but the broth isn't quite special enough. Ramen joints are always an event for me, as it's always exciting to see what take an establishment has on the classics. Ramen Do do what they do well, but not exceedingly so.
Casual Japanese food done well. Parking isn't the easiest being on Symonds st so you may have to walk a little. The restaurant is well setup with the space they have, almost cafe style. The menu isn't huge but they have a good selection on offer. We ordered the vegetable fried noodles and the teriyaki tofu don - both dishes were fresh and saucey. Would return again!
It was hard to get a car park in front of the shop. So be prepare to walk from a little away. We ordered Hokkaido Miso Ramen and tuke men. The Hokkaido miso ramen was so good came with BBQ pork and plenty of veggie. The miso soup base was so thick and tasty. The tuke men is noodle placed on a tray and there was a pot of hot soup for you to dip warm then transferred to another bowl of soup to eat. We love the ramen served!
Fine establishment. The noodles are themselves are as good as the other ramen places around town. The broth is very tasty and not as fatty as competitors. I do recommend large size for guys in think it is $1 more than the normal serving. Give it a go!
I came here on a chilly Friday evening after work because I was seriously craving some delicious hot ramen to warm my insides and satisfy the taste buds.. and Ramen Do definitely did not disappoint.
My friend and I both ordered the famous Hokkaido Miso Ramen (with pork slices) for $15.Ā The ramen was cooked well and had great texture.Ā The miso broth was full of flavour but not too salty.Ā I definitely recommend adding a bit of spice for that extra kick! The pork was delicious and tender.Ā But the best has to be the perfectly cooked soft ramen egg - if only there was more!Ā Overall the dish was generous in size with a good ratio of toppings vs ramen (better ratio than many other ramen places in Auckland).Ā Highly recommend!!!
The misokara (spicy miso) ramen is hands down the best in New Zealand. If you did a blind test of this ramen to ramen in Japan it would definitely hold it's own. The other styles are better than the standard but the miso kara here on a cold winters day is out of this world. The gyozas sadly aren't the best so it would be best to focus on the ramen they do so well.
Never knew there was a nice little ramen place here. Staff are very friendly and polite.
I like their ramen. Better than a few places that I've been to. I forgot what the name of me ramen was called but it was nice but the soup base was a little too heavy. Quite oily and too much to handle. The egg was cooked to perfection. It's definitely safer to go with like a miso soy or salt base which is what my friend got. Not as empowering and oily.
Would come back to this place just to try out their salt or soy soup based ramen.
Also. Our girl Lorde has been here before and loves this place. "Best ramen in town!" So extra points to that haha.
Small portions, hence making it relatively pricey. Good service but surprised that mains came out before side dishes...
Great food and attentive staff. Hokkaido Ramen is the speciality of this place and it doesn't disappoint with great flavour, plentiful pork belly and we'll paired matching of slivers of a type of fruit on top. Definitely worth pairing this dish with a boiled egg for extra flavour.
Good food and great service.
I liked Paitan ramen, however it's more like a lot of noodle but not much meat and you have to order extra for more meat/veg/egg. But if you are happy with noodle and soup so it's alright :)
Hello!Ā First review. No I'm not paid to do this lol
tl;dr: medium price. debatable noodles, debatable soup, amazing toppings, pretty good quality&quantity. hokkaido raamen my favourite. get the $15 one. yummy!
ramen-do on symonds st; to date this is my favourite raamen place.
I have been to (from the top of my head):
Daikoku raamen, victoria st and downtown*****(lots mmm yummy. but not enough toppings)
Kiraku, elliot st*****(one of the first raamens i went to. but....not yummy anymore....)
Takara, browns bay*****(thats some good soup. haven't been there enough)
Ichiban, albert st,*****(like japan's iconic good rough cheap raamen. but cockroaches...)
Tanpopo, anzac ave*****(man they love their leek. and occasional fat in their soup. me? occasionally)
Dragon Bowl, dominion rd*****(they've got some interesting hidden options. haven't been there enough)
Genzui, crown plaza/atrium on elliot*****(pretty interesting miso. not really anything else)
HIGHLIGHTS:
-that self-grounded sesame seed
-some of the items have SOOO many GORJESUS toppings
-omg that bbq pork belly strip topping
-huge raamens (o_O) DONT TOUCH ME YOU DAMN DIRTY RAAMEN
-they actually have tsukemen and, whilst i've had better in japan, this one is quite alright. i still make better at home :D
-omfg that egg. and hey i've been there dozens and that egg is always eggtastic. #hardworkdedication-speaking of which, actually, my experience with ramendo is consistent
-that is some nice agedashi tofu (not sure if it's meant to be like that though)
-the boss is a cute little oldish man. makes me feel like he's pilgrimaging away from his own country to live a life of quiet solitude and servitude to the philosophy of spreading yummy raamens..... errr
LOWDARKS:
-not the most porky tonkotsu soup
-that noodle is bordering southeastasian egg noodles
-the joint is usually empty :( so lonely and quiet
-the establishment isn't as cosy as some others. also sometimes stuffy
-dishes can take a while if the place is chocker
-the boss don't really speak our native tongue
HOKKAIDO RAAMEN GO
We came here for lunch on a Sunday.Ā The service was polite and efficient and there were plenty of seats available.
My husband ordered the spicy miso ramen with extra pork.Ā He found this to be delicious with a good level of heat and enjoyed the sesame seeds on the side which you crush yourself and add according to taste.Ā Apparently this is the most popular ramen ordered here and we could see why.
I had the paitan salt ramen which I really liked.Ā Salty and flavourful with good, chewy noodles, it was a very satisfying meal on a chilly day.Ā I loved the egg that came with it, runny yolk and a nice, sweet flavour - next time I will be sorely tempted to order an extra one!
We really enjoyed our meal here and will definitely come back.Ā Thanks for the recommendations Genie @ BunnyEatsDesignĀ and Nom Nom Panda.
My fav ramen shop of all. Very authentic, tasty and great value. The ramen chef is obviously very skilled and treats it like an art. Ramen Do in CBD pails in comparison and should not be allowed to carry the name.
Lived in Melbourne and came here to Auckland for a short business trip. I've been to a few Ramen places in CBD area and I must say Ramen Do has probably one of the best Ramen in town. Love the noodles, soup and the excellent presentation of Ramen. Highly recommended to all Kiwis or Aussies who love the authentic taste of Ramen but cannot afford to go to Japan, this place is definitely worth a try!
Yes!!!
This is my other ramen eatery, very good service and yummy ramen. Dumplings are very good to but you only get four, the ramen has much more meat than any other ramen shop in Auckland.
The only issue I have with Ramendo is they don't have any soy sauce or chili oil on the tables!
I love Ramen Do!!!
My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a week, we can't get enough!
Very generous portion sizes and a huge range of flavours (They also do a few appetisers and rice dishes which are also delicious). We have tried a lot of ramen at other Japanese restaurants around Auckland but nothing beats Ramen Do!
I'm no expert but I believe this would have to be the most authentic tasting ramen in town.
The staff are always so welcoming and have even remembered our usual orders!
Definitely worth a visit.
I'm not much of a noodles person, but this place simply blew me away!
I went for a simple lunch and was first surprised by how quickly the food was served. The ramen is simply excellent - a sensational experience on the taste bud, a generously filling portion, and absolutely flawless authenticity from the meal to the store.
The customer service is another thing that is quite worthy of note. The staff were warm and welcoming, extremely courteous yet relaxingly friendly.
I highly recommend this restaurant, even if ramen isn't your usual thing. I look forward to my next visit!
Great food and good service. The presentation of their ramen look so mouth watering, good flavors too. Big portion compare to price. My favorite there is Hokkaido ramen. Authentic Japanese soup compare to other ramen shop, never makes you mouth feel dry after having it.
Great, authentic food. The ramen is delicious but they also do other meals really well (dumplings, and rice dishes). They have lots of things you can choose to add to your ramen to make it just how you like it. Authentic decor as well. Worth a visit!
Prefect ramen, full of flavors and big portion. Side dishes were very tasty too. Very prompt service and good value for money. If you are looking for a great winter warmer meal, Ramen Do is the place to go.
Best Ramen in Auckland. As good as any Ramen-Ya in Japan. Authentic soup stocks and pork belly so flavour is the real deal. Lots of fresh side options/toppings and no fake or processed shit like you get in the many Korean or Chinese owned Japanese restaurants that are all over Auckland. Awesome Gyoza as well. Lots of Hokkaido love and tradition in this food so will be going back for more!
Love this place. Best Ramen in town. Love the Hokkaido Ramen.. Yummmmm. The broth is so tasteful and the ramen itself, I think the chef must have made the noodles himself. Love the pork and minced pork by the side. Side with small mortar and pester to grind your own sesame seeds according to your taste buds. What more can I say?
I have tried a lot of different Ramen places around town and this is a good Ramen restaurant..
The Ramen has great flavour, selection and they don't hold back on ingredients. I really appreciated the smaller details like having dish where you can grind your sesame seeds before adding it to the soup and a range of toppings on each Ramen (some other places are very limited).
There is a deconstructed Ramen dish (Tsukemen), which lets mix your Ramen together the way you want. That is pretty cool!
The only down side is their ramen can be a bit too salty for my liking.
One of the best Ramen places in town. Lots of pork and the noodles don't taste like two minute noodles. Authentic place, the Ramen Chef is the man. Only downside though is they need to have disposable bamboo chopsticks. The chopsticks they have there are far too slippery for us Western people.
this MISO Ramen is the best!
This restaurant's Miso Ramen is my favorite Japanese Ramen in Auckland! =) lots of veges and pork on it. make me soooo full & satisfied always.
plus you can relax in the restaurant as long as you like.
but their chopsticks are very slippy, - no good for Ramen..
I thought the Ramen was good at Tanpopo until I tasted this place. Would highly recommend the "gyokai" fish stock Ramen, it's the best in town.
Happy dining ,elvinos
Definitely the best Ramen in Auckland. I've been waiting for this place since I came back from Japan. The size is substantial and the options are really good e.g. extra noodles, meat etc. Blows away all other ramen in Auckland by some distance.
I wholeheartedly agree with the first review! My cha-shu miso ramen was at least as good as any ramen I've had in Japan, and better than most. The gyoza were subtle and delicious, not too heavy. And the whole lot was amazing value for money too. Perfect for a warming winter lunch and an absolute must for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine.
I have tried in different ramen places in auckland but this is far the best ramen i had.. Spicy miso ramen was really good, rich and porky with a big piece of roasted pork belly... I can't wait to go back!!!
Rating based on our favourite dishes at this little eatery: the Hokkaido miso ramen and the tsukemen - probably the best ramen we have had in Auckland. We keep ordering these again and again, so haven't had much chance to try to rest of the menu.
While you can pay for extra toppings, we found these noodle meals to be more than enough food already. And we love the marinated egg halves that come with them, with the yolk translucent and just barely set.

Two of us visited Ramen Do for a quick, casual meal. No booking, just strolled on in. Ramen Do feels a bit like a casual cafe rather than a restaurant.
We both ordered the Miso base ramen with extra meat and shared an order of pork gyoza and Agedashi tofu. The gyoza were excellent, panfried and a lovely flavour and texture.
Agedashi tofu was unusual. Not like the photo on their website, but more like a bowl full of dark gravy with something lurking below the surface. The tofu was silky and the sauce was delicious. We ate/drank all of the tofu and sauce. The bill came to about $40 for 2 people and we were very, VERY full. I actually couldn't finish all my noodles and broth, though I may have if we hadn't already shared 2 side dishes. My advice would be to order ramen first and get side dishes only if you're still feeling hungry afterwards (very unlikely). The hanjuku egg that comes with ramen (or add to your rice dish for $1) is melt in your mouth delicious. I highly reccomend adding a hanjuku egg to your meal if it doesn't come with.
āØI've also popped in to try their teriyaki tofu don and their pork charshu don. The tofu was light and refreshing but I found the pork charshu don much too salty. Their rice dishes are ok, but their ramen is where it's at. I will stick to ramen in future. I look forward to trying their other ramen. They even have a vegetable ramen which is very unusual.
Service is functional and the restaurant was quite busy despite the day, the weather and location. This place would be great in winter, but very hot otherwise (no air con).
Note: Ramen Do have no liquor license. They should really do BYO here. There is even a liquor store next door!
Feedback: Serviettes should be larger, or more plentiful and I wish the spoons were bigger too. They are long stemmed but very small at the head, not the big ramen ladles that we expected.
Cook when you order is the most significant capability of the Ramen DO. The atmosphere here was good and with many Japanese-style decorations, such as sake bottles, posters, and lanterns. The size of the ramen is enormous, and the BBQ pork was excellent. However, the soul of the ramen is its soup, and unfortunately, it did not fit my flavor.
Have been coming here for years and consistently impressed by the unpretentious atmosphere quality of the food and it being Japanese run which seems to be becoming rarer in this type of Ramen shop..a great place of refuge to get a hearty meal in Up Town . Go Ramen Do!
Incredible ramen š Absolute perfection in the art of ramen. This place deserves five stars, easily. The bad/mediocre reviews are from people who are happy to eat authentic ramen, but not within the authentic ramen-house culture. They want westernised atmosphere, service and culture serving authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price - and that is bollox imo. Dining out is a wholistic experience and anyone who disrespects this restaurant are not appreciating the nuance. This beautiful, reasonably priced, delicious, generous, sumptuous and authentic ramen is served by two people. Family run. A presumably married couple. This is essentially their front room and home. Show some respectā¼ļø People will not wait patiently or even observe how busy the sous-chef/waiter/front of house lady is before demanding immediate attention. People donāt bother to do the homework that clearly details the politely requested preference that you BOOK before coming. They also criticise the decor without appreciating the reasonable prices that are due to it. Come on guysā¦ if you want authentic ramen for an extortionate price in a westernised bourgeois atmosphere with continental cocktails and plentiful staff to kiss your a$$ - go to Ponsonbyās Chop Chop noodle house. It is another amazing eatery, but NOT an authentic ramen house. When you come to Ramen Do taste this excellence and experience the culture surrounding it. Enjoy the incredibly reasonable prices and the privilege of access you have to the two people who are bringing this gift of soups to you. Rant over š

Food is amazing. Super tasty and yummy. Can taste the love and passion for ramen here.
Seaweed salad was a secret bit here.
Portions are large and very good value but quality is high
Thank you for a lovely evening
Brilliant ramen. There was a slight language barrier, but with the help of computerized order kiosk, it minimize the need of communication to owner.
Def the one of the best tasteful ramen in New Zealandš
Ramen was nice, and the service was efficient. The restaurant was very dark inside. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't seem friendly as she didn't greet customers and didn't smile at all. Perhaps she wasn't having a good day...not sure. I'm not so keen to visit again, as there are plenty of other options for authentic ramen restaurants.
The taste was great, not so salty. The pork portion is good. The meatball is a bit cold. Too many bean sprouts. The female waiter seems never smile.
Nice little ramen shop on symond st. Came here for lunch on Saturday and it was surprisingly busy. Lots of tables were reserved. Miso ramen was great with rich broth and charcoaled flavour. Lots of options available. Recommend to those who want authentic japanese ramen!
Came to ramen do to try the ramen.
Got the spicy miso ramen.
Soup could be more flavourful.
