Love their Vietnamese pho! The staffs were very polite and helpful. We’ll definitely go back to this restaurant.
Delicious food and the Banh Mi is the best I've ever had!
Came here for a Sunday lunch. Ordered beef pho for myself and seafood laksa for hubby. Both soups came in huge bowls and were delicious!! Pho in particular was outstanding, brought back the memories of our travels in Vietnam! Full of flavours and the right amount of heat🔥 hubby enjoyed his laksa and vietnamese coffee afterwards. Friendly and helpful staff!
Delicious food, however portions were rather small for the price. I used zomato gold though and it was perfect! Loved the bun cha and stir fried vermicelli (beef), flavourful and fresh!
Loved loved loved this place. Food was great. Portions just right. Staff lovely.
I love vietnamese food and Parkside didnt disappoint me. Great food. Great service! Child friendly cafe. Keep it up!
Always great as usual. Ordered the spicy laksa and rice noodle soup. Yummy!!! A bit busy for a Wednesday lunch but our food came fairly fast. My daughter almost finished the noodles by herself.
We came here thanks to Zomato Gold.
We found this place on Zomato gold, which was in the middle of nowhere, but the interior and concept was pretty good.
The manager who served us was super friendly and made us feel at home. She just had that awesome vibe.
Food was great too! We ordered seafood laksa and pho, and the seafood laksa was very deep and flavorful.
Thank you :)
On a wet, cold Sat night we were the only table occupied in this great restaurant. ‘Tho plenty of Uber Eats going out the door! We will be back, often!
Same owners as Sen & the food is delicious. We ordered the set menu @ $35 each & received more than enough summer prawn rolls, fried spring rolls, shaking beef, pork belly, tarakihi fish in pepper sauce, lemon grass chicken, & papaya beef salad.
All beautifully cooked, just the right balance of flavours & heat. Service couldn’t be faulted.
Finished with non-traditional but fab chocolate tart, warm & gooey, & cream caramel.
Food was delicious and wholesome. The food was packed with flavour. I would be back for the beef salad as the sauce was good. This is a fusion between vietnamese and french flavors.
Really pleasant cafe in Mt Albert with plenty of parking nearby. They offer a diverse menu and have some delicious scrambled eggs (the spicy one is nice!).
Highly recommended! The beef salad is very yummy and full of flavor. The beef pho is nice too. The beef is tender and the soup has some special taste in it. But just be careful of the chili in the small plate as they are super spicy.
Went for dinner. This is an excellent vietnamese restaurant with modern dishes and some fusion twists. Food was excellent as was service. It's a nice little spot on the corner and not too busy. Highly recommend.
Love the pho! The flavour of the clear soup! It’s one of the best pho we had in Auckland. It’s good food especially for winter! Boyfriend had the Moroccan lamb, the meat was so fresh! Yummy! Will come again definitely!
Can’t really fault anything aside from the portion sizing but definitely not a major. I think a little bit more rice would be good because the rice wasn’t enough for the chicken curry that was served with it. Same goes with the noodles. But the food was full of flavour :)
One of the few places around my place that does Zomato Gold for food, Parkside is a Vietnamese cafe fusion. Coming in it resembles your typical neighbourhood cafe and its only when you start going through the menu do you start recognising the Vietnamese influence. When you know that a place does pho, its extremely difficult not to order a pho, especially with the weather we’ve had. So we got the large pho noodle, Chile eggs, Plum pastry and coffees.
Before continuing I just want to shout out the lady serving us, you were awesome and we loved how attentive you were to our meals. The pho was actually pretty awesome, the broth had a deep flavour and there was a good portion of beef to noodles. However what surprised me was how awesome the child eggs was, so simple yet ParkSide did an experts job. The fire kicked in with the smooth egg texture, then you add a sip of the broth…..man that was some sensational flavour combinations!
One of the best places for Zomato Gold and its a real deal here.
Showstopper: Chili Eggs.
Overall Grade: A-
23/06 Second time here! Still pretty good- nice traditional Vietnamese flavours, despite the unconventional setting. Service was good. Price was a little on the dear side given the portion size. We went with zomato gold this time so it was still worth it.
Came for breakfast using Zomato gold. Was very busy and a lack of service - our table had dirty dishes that remained until I had to ask someone to take them away when they brought our food.
Food however was good. We got the big breakfast and the eggs bene. Big breakfast with perfectly cooked fried eggs, eggs bene - one egg was perfect and one was over but I’m assuming that’s because I did not cut into it straight away.
I’ve been here for dinner preciously and that was amazing! Overall, not bad but not great. Would happily return for dinner instead of breakfast though.
Had the seafood laksa and chargrilled chicken open sandwich with aioli, generous pieces of avocado, salad & tomato. Really nice iced mocha, not too sweet, nice balance of bitterness. The chicken was tender and tasty, nice ciabatta kind of bread. I did think the laksa was salty and had a murky taste because of the seafood but the noodles had a great texture and coconut broth came through nicely. The lunch menu wasn’t extensive with traditional Vietnamese choices apart from the salad and pho. Keen to come back for dinner for more options for Vietnamese food.
It was amazing! I loved their food.
Portion was a little bit small than I expected.
I would like to go for dinner.
So nice pho!!! I think the best pho in Auckland.
Simple and savory flavor so good!
Very easy to book and locate. Beautiful ambience with friendly staff. Best thing they have full knowledge of Zomato gold. Food was amazing. Price just fine for the service we get. Definitely going back soon. Overall A++...
Enjoyed a lovely meal with Mother in law today.
Food was delicious. Lots of flavor and good size portions.
Definitely recommend.
Eggs were perfectly running.
Customer service was quick and excellent.
Very polite.
Love coming here.
Authentic Vietnamese restaurant😍
The pho was quite smaller than I expected.
Really really small size. I was surprised.
But the taste was nice!!They used a raw and fresh beef in the pho. It was suitable as an appetizer!!
I really recommend it!
Great friendly and attentive staff. Nice cosy cafe, we had the breakfast menu. The corn fritters were delicious with perfect poached eggs, I will go back to have that again. Would like to go and try the Vietnamese menu, so will definitely visit agin.
Visited Parkside on a busy Sunday for lunch. We ordered 1x kids pancakes and 1x beef pho. Both were great! Beef pho had lovely flavour and the pancakes were a perfect size for my 4 year old. Even though the cafe was full, service was good & we didn’t have to wait long for our meals. Will be back to try more.
Tasty food, friendly staff and good value. Really good options for vegetarians - try the tofu surrounded with salted duck egg, you won’t be disappointed.
The food was so delicious it was quite unexpected. I have never heard about this place. Fresh, authentic and unique flavours! I had the caramelise fish and it was delicious and tastes completely new. The papaya salad was also tasty and the service was very fast. Highly recommend.
Was craving some Pho and found this neighborhood cafe on Zomato Gold. Taste was good. Only thing about it was that it could have had more beef slices / beef balls, but for the price, can't have much complaints. Good place for a cheap bowl of pho.

We really enjoyed the food here and ordered the pho, bun cha and beef cheek curry. The pho was excellent but did find this quite small for the price. Would have been nice if there was a full main sized pho on the dinner menu. The beef in the curry was very nice and tender. We also enjoyed the bun cha which made us very reminiscent of Hanoi. Overall great experience in a very cosy setting.
Ate there on Sunday for lunch, I ordered the 'Wok-seared spicy lemon grass chicken w rice noodle' - delicious! Excellent food, some of the better and more authentic Vietnamese cuisine you will eat in Auckland. Excellent value with Zomato Gold 1+1 Food. Going back there tonight!

Nice spot for lunch. The sweet corn fritter was delicious and the bacon was not too salty. The egg was nice too. The restaurant was also very clean!
Highly recommended! their Vietnamese beef noodles soup & signature salad were legit!! Staffs were friendly and nice 👍🏼 overall, 5/5!! Will definitely go back to try more food #eatsinauckland #aucklandeats #annieeats_
Friendly staff, delicious food and perfect location if you have kids with Rocket Park next door. I’ve always come here for brunch and it has not disappointed. Next time I’ll try the Vietnamese lunch menu!
Their Pho and Laksa was very nice and our kids just had a light snack toastie and chips. Staff were friendly and attentive. Look forward to trying other things on their menu later.
Great food. Extremely flavourful. Loved every dish that we ordered, especially the spicy lemongrass chicken salad, laksa and pho. Staff were very friendly. Would love to visit again and try their dinner menu.

We’ve been visiting this cafe for years. This is a great cafe for family as Rocket park is just across the road. They have the best Allpress coffee and Pumpkin Risotto. However the Risotto portion seems to have shrunk over the years to an almost entree size so it will leaves you feeling still hungry after the meal.
First time trying pho in this restaurant, light and tasty, satisfies my craving for noodle soup !
Another food I like is the bacon hash! Yum!
First time visiting and just had lunch today. Wish to give 6 stars if I can. Hassle free using zomato gold. Staffs were so friendly and all menus we tried were so delish packed with flavours. Highly recommend the Beef pho and lemon grass chicken salad. I would love to return here soon for dinner to try bun cha 😘

Large Beef Pho
The flavours of this beef pho broth were well-balanced, however not as fragrant as were accustomed to- perhaps a move made by Parkside to appeal to a wider audience that may not be familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. On the whole, a comforting bowl of pho that is reasonably priced for the size. We will say that they cut their noodles short here (which we don’t really like), so it’s a good place to go if you have a hard time eating with chopsticks.
Seafood Laksa
Creamy, with fish and shrimp for protein, and bok choy and bean sprouts for vegetables. This laksa was also a bit on the safe side in terms of flavour, where it lacked the usual strong fish/shrimp paste flavour usually associated with laksa. Pleasant flavour profile for the most part, however we do have to say it’s a bit rich so it may be hard to finish the soup. Again, the noodles were cut short which isn’t the greatest. Coriander garnish was a nice touch.
Mango Smoothie
This is the one we’d recommend getting if you want a smoothie from here - why? Because it’s like mango ice cream in a cup.
Mixed Berry Smoothie
Also a decent smoothie, but there just wasn’t as much of a surprise to it as there was for the mango smoothie. Maybe our standards are a bit high after a beautiful season of berries coming to an end though.
Service:
Friendly, quick, and brisk. Better than an authentic Asian restaurant, but not overly chatty staff - we like it that way anyway.
Ambience:
The interior of Parkside is warm, with wooden floors and big windows. There’s a nice little hanging plant display on the wall, which adds some colour in amongst the neutrals. It’s not too busy on a weekday morning, with quiet conversation resonating throughout the room.
Recommendation:
Come here for the comfort food - even better if you don’t like strong, overpowering flavours. Street parking is easy to find after 9am. We’ll be back to try the non-Vietnamese items one day.

REAL AUTHENTIC VIETNAMESE FOOD HERE!!!
Have been to a few vietnamese restaurants in Auckland, these guys' Bun Cha is exactly the way it's done in Hanoi. Absolutely beautiful taste.
You wouldn't be disappointed here. Keen to come back to try other food as well.
I came on a Sunday with the family and thought everything was spot on. My dad and I chose the bruchetta and it came out perfectly cooked, with every component of the dish executed fabulously. My sister's pho was rich and fragrant and had a good depth of flavour. Mum's fruit salad was simply refreshing and I honestly regretted not getting one for myself. Service was quick and efficient and Zomato gold made it even better, planning to return there soon!
Love the Vietnamese food here, the cafe just beside Rocky park. Staff is ok, coffee is ok too, but too much foam for the flat white. Ice choco is good. I love my salad, the staff recommended chicken, it’s very tasty, and the beef soup is yum as well, definitely will come back for more food.
Ordered the Pho, Spicy Lemon Grass Chicken and Clay Pot Pork Belly.Pho was delicious; deep flavour but definitely a "starter" serve. Spicy lemon Grass Chicken was flavourful and had just the right amount of kick! If you dislike spice, definitely do not order it. The Clay Pot Pork Belly had mostly melt-in-your-mouth meat pieces and came with a side of rice, but I would probably order a second rice if I ordered this again. Overall food was delicious and service was so quick! Prices are a bit more dear than your average go-to Vietnamese restaurant, but you are definitely paying for the quality of food here. Staff were polite and easy to deal with.
Inside was clean, warm and the atmosphere wonderfully cosy. Great on street parking right outside.

A gem we wouldn't have discovered until we used the Zomato app! We ordered the Vietnamese beef pho & braised caramelised Pork belly with rice. Was pretty shocked by the small portion for the Vietnamese pho (I'm already a small eater) but this was made up by the generous portion of Pork belly. The pho was one of the most delicious I've tasted as well. May visit if we are within the vicinity and try out their other dishes!
Lovely food and lovely service, would highly recommend to all. We were a bit new to Zomato gold but they were very patient and just overall very friendly.
Great night with great food.
Went for breakfast but ended up having a Pho and a Lamb Burger. Both really good. Kids had a pancake which was great too. Cappuccino rich and creamy. Very good experience for this place which we would probably never have tried if it wouldn‘t be offering the Zomato Gold. We will be back!
Amazing and flavoursome food. If you see any reviews that is not 5 stars, they are just some people who have no taste. If you know how to enjoy good quality food, THIS IS THE PLACE! Pork belly is very tender and spicy chicken is on point, not to mention the beef cheek curry. Well done chef, would definitely visit regularly from now on. Please stay on forever as a zomato gold partner!
Wow. Absolutely amazing food and customer service. This has easily replaced Rad Cafe as my new favourite place to go for lunch.
The dishes are packed full of flavour. I’m usually not a big fan of bread but their bread even managed to impress me. Excited to come back and try their entire menu. Seriously, it’s that good.
We went here last Saturday for dinner. Luckily we arrived before 9pm just before their last order, eventhough they closed at 10pm. We both ordered claypot pork belly. The meat was full of flavour and it come with a portion of rice to share. The claypot may look small but dont be fooled, its actually packed with pork belly to the point that I couldn't finish my meal. Totally worth the money! Reading at their good reviews here, I will be back to try their pho.
This vietnamese cafe was surprised me so much! we use zomato gold buy onr get one free and ordered two hot pho. Nice soup and meat, i didn't expect they have such good quality pho. Will definitely come back.
A great start to the day!
Hot pho and perfectly prepped meat! Love it! Drank all the soup too! Great deal with zomato gold. Absolutely delicious.

Went there for dinner - great service and food was excellent! Ordered the slow cooked duck and would order again.
One of the best 'casual' restaurants in Mt Albert
Well located suburban Vietnamese cafe. The service was great and food was better than I expected. This place has the same owner as Sen
The porky belly and beef pho is highly recommended!
I always forget about Parkside cafe and then I come in and am annoyed that I've forgotten about it for so long. I need to come to Mt Albert for food more often, clearly. The service is outstanding and friendly, I don't know the name of the woman who works here most days but she is awesome, so down to earth and helpful, chatty. Love her. The food is amazing too - I've had both Vietnamese dishes and western breakfasts and all have been super high standard with great flavours and good portions. As a side note, the last time I came in I had a broken leg and was on crutches and they were really accommodating and caring which was lovely! Thank you!
We absolutely love this place! They make consistently good coffee, wonderful food, friendly staff, great menu, Couldn’t ask for more! Highly recommend!
We popped in for lunch after this place was recommended by a close friend. We found it to be warm and inviting with friendly staff. After ordering from the Vietnamese menu and the Kids menu, we didn't have to wait long before the food arrived. Vietnamese noodle soup was tops! Similar reviews from the wife and son on their food too. It's also quite kids friendly with a kids menu and they are happy to accommodate any odd requests. Rocket Park being a stone's throw away is also a bonus, playtime and food covered in one go if you are a parent. Awesome place, will deffinitely be back again.
Coffee is very good and I had a beef stew for lunch. It taste very nice with a unique Vietnamese style of influence. Salmon hash for my wife but it's a bit average. Saw some other table ordered eggs Benedict and they look a lot more promising.
Was welcomed and seated straight away ,Great fast efficient service, waitress was very good, food and coffees came out really quick and was a great experience would reccomend to all
Lovely little place. I went for breakfast. Coffee is really good and the good was tasty. I had the Salmon hash. Would have loved chucks of potatoes rather than very little pieces. Over smashed perhaps. Nonetheless it was delicious. Would be keen to try the Vietnamese restaurant.
That beef pho! Wow, the broth is so clean and accompanies the beef so well, along with the fresh corriandor. "THE" hangover cure and great for a warm me up winter meal.. brushetta is a 10/10 as well, the salsa is fresh and tastes really good with the bacon and eggs Benedict (which are consistently perfect) 👍👍👍 the owner if you get a chance to meet her, is an awesome lady who will put a smile on your dial with her great sense of humor. Great service 👍👍👍
This was my first time ordering Vietnamese with an eye to eat healthy - the vegetarian mango salad and pork skewers were yum! Friends were also pleased with the duck.
Love this place!! Went there for lunch today and had a prawn linguine... best pasta meal i have ever had!! Also had a ice coffee which was pretty great as well! Service was friendly and fast. Even when they accidently overcharged us, they happily refunded us apologetically. Will definitely be back again.
A fairly run-of-the-mill breakfast/lunch menu is replaced by a joyous celebration of Vietnamese inspired dishes in the evening. Pho is gooooood!
Terrific coffee and a true meeting-place for a hardcore group of locals
Handy parking if you can battle it out with the SUV brigade taking the kids to Rocket Park
We came here today for the first time and will definitely be back again. The seafood risotto and laksa were delicious - both full of flavour and perfectly cooked seafood; the food was without fault. Excellent service as well. Highly recommend!
Found this hidden gem when we went out for dinner. Definitely definition of don’t judge a book by it cover. It a kiwi cafe by day and Vietnam cuisine by night. Never tried the cafe dish but the dinner is surprisingly impressive. The slow cooked pork and marinated chicken are absolute delish 👍🏻 the sticky black rice with coconut cream sauce added to nice finishing touch 😊

I hadn't been to Parkside cafe for a few years but had really good memories of breakfast there. Went with my partner this morning, had the corn fritters and he had the bruschetta. Delish banana smoothie too. Still as good as I remembered it! Awesome little park across the road for kids to run off breakfast afterwards too.
Nice dining space. Parking available on side streets. Service is friendly.
Came here for the Vietnamese food at dinner time and it was fantastic.
Top picks: Vietnamese spring rolls and the beef salad. The beef salad was my absolute favourite of the night. The beef was seated to tender perfection and the salad was deliciously dressed. The Vietnamese coffee was pretty interesting as well, especially the way it was served.
Lowlights: The pho wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. The servers didn't have as much knowledge about the dishes.
Since this place is close to home, have hopped in a couple of times for breakfast. An amazing place to hang out and have a conversation over brekkie and coffee.
Being a non-pork eater, I usually relish the Winter Spicy Scrambled Eggs on Toast. Delicious!!! Service is excellent.
Have also tried the Pancakes for Kids, good if you want a small quantity.
I only hope they have more options without bacon.
My family and I have been coming to this Vietnamese restaurant for years now (open 6/7pm till late Wed to Sat). The food is delicious, the staff are always very friendly and on-to-it, it is well-priced and did I say delicious! Definitely one to try people.
Great little cafe. Coffee was received very quickly. Very tasty too. Buttermilk Pancakes were really tasty too. Could have done with a bit more syrup though. I'll definitely be back.
Really enjoyed our dinner tonight. We had a beautiful platter as appetiser that to be honest I could have just kept eating. We then got pork belly, lemongrass chicken and grilled fish to share. We were with our son so didn't have it as spicy as we would have if we were by ourselves but certainly still very yum. Topped it off with chocolate tart, ice cream and biscotti with coffee for ice cream. All of this plus a round of juice for drinks was $136. Really yum, prompt service, will definitely go again.
We have been here for breakfast and coffee breaks and absoultely loved it. Amazing place great people awesome food! Want to try some other food here soon!
Went here for Vietnamese for dinner. Loved it! We started with the pancake for entree and then shard the pork belly, crab with vermicelli noodles and duck curry for mains. Loved every dish. Would recommend sharing.
Now go try this. Both for breakfast (cafe) then dinner (Vietnamese). Good value for money, cozy place and staff are friendly. Go! I dare you to.
We visited this cafe on a weekend afternoon. The cafe is just opposite the rocket II playground.
We order a kid set bacon and egg set, a laksa and a chicken pho and a beef pho.
Bacon and egg was normal.
The laksa was very thick in coconut milk, the taste of the laksa overall is good. But you can't enjoy the soup too much.
The pho flat rice noodle was too thick and when eating the rice noodle didn't give the smoothness texture. The soup was above average but not too strong smell and taste (prefer stronger taste).
It is another option if you are bored with the routine cafe and restaurant visits.
I usually avoid any Asian restaurant that seems overpriced and catered to western tastebuds but I was feeling rather adventurous and decided to give Parkside Cafe a try. We were led to our tables but then were left alone without water or menus which was odd so we had to capture the attention of staff after waiting a while in confusion. The menu is really appealing for all taste buds, there's big, exciting flavours throughout.
For starters, we ordered Banh Xeo which was crispy, but quite small. The fish sauce accompanying it was really subtle/diluted so this place is obviously catering toward western taste buds.
For mains, I ordered the Tiger Prawn cutlets in spicy tamarind sauce while my dining companion ordered the caramelized fish in clay pot served with rice. Love the flavours of the both dishes, but again, serving sizes were small and very different to the usual flavours we're used to at home. We felt they could have even passed as a Thai dish at a modern Thai restaurant.
If you're new to Vietnamese cuisine, you'll love this place but as my dining companion and I are both Viet and, we were quite disappointed as there are a lot of more authentic places with larger serving sizes out there.
We had heard great things about this place so thought we would give it a try, we ordered the Vietnamese beef salad with vermicelli and a Spicy fish laksa.
The beef salad was spot on with tender juicy beef and that Vietnamese "zang" in the sauce with a lovely sprinkle of nuts. Healthy with fresh ingredients 4.5/5 Yum!.
The Laksa unfortunately had that... "missing something" taste, was quite bland and very heavy on the cream. It seemed as if it need some lime or citrus although this depends on the variation of Laksa they intend to be serving 3/5.
Still on our quest to be really impressed with some Vietnamese cuisine and yes, Laksa isn't very Vietnamese per say however we expect every dish to be spot on wouldn't you? Hopefully we will find our Vietnamese sensation soon!
My partner and I have breakfast here all the time because we know we are guaranteed to get a good meal! However, coffee can be hit or miss..
The best Vietnamese in Auckland at the moment hands down. Awesome service, yummy food. The pork belly is to die for. Reasonably priced and great for groups. We have been back so many times!
I'm on a mission to find the best pho in Auckland. Parkside is definitely a contender. We came to Parkside on a Friday afternoon for some brunch! I've been here once before for dinner, and the portions were a lot smaller than I thought they were going to be, but that's because they're meant to be sharing plates.
This was our first time dining at lunch though! I ordered the beef pho in a large portion. My friend ordered the Vietnamese chicken salad and we both got a iced mocha each. Food came relatively quickly, and service was friendly. For a large portion, I managed to finish my soup, and I almost drank all the soup as well hahaha. In terms of authenticity, I don't know how authentic the pho is because I'm not Vietnamese but I've been told from a Vietnamese friend that Parkside is quite authentic Vietnam cuisine. I actually like the whole pile of coriander on top, because it made the soup taste really fresh! It also came with a lemon wedge and fresh chillis. I can't fault their pho, I enjoyed it a lot!
My friend had no complaints about his salad, only that he wanted more meat because the chicken was so good. I loved the dressing in the salad! Coffee was okay as well, but it's a pity they don't do Vietnamese coffees in the day.
I will definitely be back! :)
Went here on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning with regulars. Customer service was pretty decent.
The atmosphere was ok. The windows looking out on to the road were absolutely massive which was fantastic.
Food was decently priced and presented to match that price yet, was still quite tasty. Everyone at the table was satisfied.
One thing that really stood out to me here were the windows mentioned above though, how good the milk in my coffee was. It was rediculously silky. It was either the best milk I've had since taking note of coffee quality or potentially, the best milk I've ever had.
I'd certainly go back here again and definitely recommend it.
Delicious food, a bit spicy, quick to come out, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend if you love Vietnamese food as you won't be disappointed.
Vietnamese food can sometimes be abit hit and miss but Parkside has a more cafe style take on Vietnamese. This place is perfectly suited for a group dinner, me and my foodie partner ate here and it got busy really quickly.
We ordered the fried tofu with salty duck egg and the braised eggplant with tofu and perilla. Both dishes were rich and hearty. For tofu lovers the deep fried tofu was amazing and would highly recommend. But as the name suggests it is quiet salty! Portion size was decent - sharing two dishes and rice was only just enough for us but on the smaller side compared to other places we have been. Service is friendly and pleasant. This is one of the better Vietnamese places we've eaten at, I would probably return just to try out the breakfast menu as it looked pretty good!
Food and atmosphere are great! Very western cafe touch to a Vietnamese inspired restaurant. Had a very typical Mt Eden feel to it. I had the big breakfast and the pho. Everything was cooked nicely and complimented each other perfectly. Unfortunately I came in time for the lunch menu but I will hopefully be returning for the dinner one day as their dinner menu looks just as enticing
i came here for the Pho , as i love Saigonz so much , i wanted to try others for comparison, and this did not disappoint.
FIrstly i just enjoyed sitting in this very welcoming place, run by an efficient and understanding team, high accolades to a very experienced wait staff.
The Pho , was good value for size presented (large $16) , however is quite different to Saignnz, ( i prefer saignonz very hot chillI paste , freshly chopped onion, bean sprouts and more coriander , ), and still my favorite, but i would still very much recommend this place and will be back to try something different at dinner time,. Very Good!
This is my go- to place for lunch or breakfast on a weekend, especially if Im craving Pho. The chicken pho is light but has lots of flavour, and comes with a side of chilli slices and lemon for those that like more heat. the large size is often too much for me to finish but is great for if your hungry. The Laksa is also great, a bit thicker and creamier than the typical version but still tasty, with lots of good sized shrimp. I love the atmosphere here, the windows looking out to the street are fun for people watching, and the staff have an awesome sense of humor.
Awesome coffee, friendly staff, just an all round great place :)
Funny to think a Vietnamese restaurant could be such an amazing breakfast/brunch cafe too... but it really is! My new favourite local spot for breakfast. Delicious eggs benedict, awesome friendly service. Give it a go! :-)
Waitresses here are hilarious and great to talk too. They know their menu well. I worship their brunch menu. Hash browns are the best and the eggs benedict is crazy tasty. Portions are surprisingly huge which made me very happy and very full. Great location too! Right on the corner of New North Road and Wairere Avenue so you can just sit at the window and stalk passerbys walking/driving along the footpath/road. So fun!
I had decided to come here as I had heard about this place as a cafe that also served Vietnamese food. It was early on a weekend morning and hubby was craving pho and we were in Mt. Albert and I thought where on earth am I going to get pho so early in the morning? I then remembered this place which is how we ended up here. We had no idea if it would have it as I had thought it would be at night but they do it during the morning too. Fantastic!
We had wonderful service when we were here. The lady was so kind and attentive and really made the experience pleasant for us. The food was just average, I ordered the corn fritters and only ate half of it and the pho was in a really small bowl and for the price was quite expensive. The flavours weren't quite there either so it was a bit disappointing but overall I can't say it was a bad experience. I think if they seasoned the dishes this place would be amazing! Prices were very fair too. Great location across the road from the park for the kids!
My favourite local night time eatery. I love the Vietnamese menu and have enjoyed every dish I've tried. The tofu in tomato gravy is the best tofu dish I've ever tried. I also enjoy the waitress and always feel comfortable eating here, whether alone or with company. The only thing they could better would be a better dessert selection, however I really don't go there for the desserts.
In the daytime there's good coffee and great poached eggs on wholegrain.
Went for dinner with my partner, and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly, informative and attentive and the food was delicious! We had the fresh summer rolls (great dipping sauce!) and the "shaking" beef (melt in your mouth..), and found both to be packed with fresh ingredients, herbs and spices and full of great flavours.
Not huge portions but the sort of food where you feel energized after eating healthy, tasty food.
The glasses of wine were generous and good value.
We'll be back - very soon!
Went there for the breakfast. Nice staff, fast and professional for a cafe.
We usually frequent this café for brunch. It's always consistently good. Service is good as well. Love their grain bread and I haven't had anything like it anywhere else either.
Last night my wife and I went to this restaurant for Vietnamese dinner.
My goodness, the food is phenomenally good.
It is no different than eating in Vietnam.
The flavours are intense, the dishes are packed full of herbs and spices you would taste in Vietnam and I could not fault any of the dishes in anyway.
We had fresh spring rolls, spicy lemongrass chicken, green papaya salad and caramelised pork belly. Grand total of $69.00. Fantastic value to.
We will definitely be back again and again.
What a find in our neighbourhood!!
Very friendly staff and wonderful smoothies! During our last visit we ordered french toast and the chicken noodle pho. The pho was great and while I preferred the vietnamese options over the regular menu, my boyfriend quite liked his french toast.
I can't reiterate how much I like their smoothies though! Thick and fruity with great texture. Yum!
Brilliant cafe for families. The staff are so accommodating to young children. The food is superb. I have been for loads of breakfasts and coffees and once for dinner. The Vietnamese food was yummy but I just love their breakfasts. The best poached eggs around, fantastic coffee and the perfect portion size. Have to say again that the staff are so nice and make things easy when you have a toddler in tow. They are right next to rocket park so they see plenty of children and they certainly know how to treat their customers so that they keep coming back.
Great little vietnamese restaurant at night. Beautiful food and great service.
Had the shaking beef -amazing! Beef pho and summer rolls.
Been twice now and loved it just as much as the first time we went.
. Went to Parkside cafe recently for lunch with my partner. This was my first time visiting there after heart so many good thing about it . The staff are super friendly. The menu is great.
Great coffee . My mushroom on toast with bacon was amazing and my partner was very impressed with the spicy lemongrass chicken salad.
Highly recommend this cafe and would definitely come back to try another dish soon.
The food at night is amazing Vietnamese food.
We love the atmosphere and the food is the best Vietnamese I have had in Auckland.
Price is good too.
Yay so glad it is in our hood.
We have had the pork belly, the summer rolls, the squid cakes and the green curry. All has been mouth watering.
The wine is well priced it is the perfect date night venue for the locals :)
The staff here are very friendly, plus I love that they have a regular menu (eggs and bacon etc) but also an amazing Vietnamese menu. Their Vietnamese food is always lovely and fresh and the prices are pretty reasonable.
We're fairly regular customers now.
Highly recommended. Shame they can't shoo all the people standing outside at the bus stop away.
Great place to have a quick catchup with friends. The service is great and the coffee is even better. Many cafe's serve coffee warm and not hot -like pyrenees across the road. But not at Parkside, coffee is assuredly hot ever time.
I haven't tried the Vietnamese food they serve at night time but, I can't wait to try it.
If you're in the area I cannot recommend this place enough.
Lovely, friendly and efficient staff.
Beautiful eggs royale - benedict with smoked salmon was very delicious.
Came cause I saw the kids menu mentioned on here... I had 3 young lassies in tow, who really loved their pancakes. I ordered a kids fruit salad too, and asked the waitress to split it across the 3 children's plates. No probs at all, very obliging, and a lovely fresh selection of kid-friendly fruit arrived, sliced up thinly atop the pancakes with ice cream and maple syrup on the side.
Great coffee.
Only thing slightly amiss, was the Crazy placement of hand drier over sink in bathroom, which made for some hilarity and screeching children as it frightened the living daylights out of them each time it accidentally roared to life! LOL!
An efficient, friendly cafe... Perfectly placed opposite the 'Rocket playground'.
It's a nice light-filled cafe, with polished floorboards, and comfy tables and chairs.
I have been here twice for brunch and both times have been super impressed with the service and food. I found the coffee really nice, and today I had an omlette with avocado, portobello mushrooms and wilted spinach - YUM. Friendly staff and pretty quick service.
Really nice little cafe that serves good cafe, in a great location. Pleasant place to stop after a walk along Meola Creek and a climb up Mt Albert!
Parkside cafe is a great cafe in the heart of Mt Albert. I love coming here simply for the ease of parking, good coffee and great service.
Furthermore, the creamy mushrooms here is by far the best I've ever had (big call!) However when we went last Saturday, the hubby's creamy mushroom's taste was all there but what was on the plate was only a fraction of the quantity to what we were used to (pictured) I ordered another item on their specials board - the corn fritters stack. it was beautifully presented and the poached egg, when broken poured over the corn fritters nicely. Once again, just wished there was more of it.
Parkside cafe transforms into a Vietnamese restaurant by night, I had a peek at their menu and it's definitely on my wish list.

Vietnamese food is appearing all over Auckland, or perhaps I’ve only started noticing them. Most places are cheap, tasty and pretty decent, just like how street food should be. My experience at an upmarket version, Café Hanoi, left little to be desired, overwrought, under-flavoured, expensive food. All flash and not nearly enough substance, and to my astonishment, it garnered accolades in the media. When another posh-ish Vietnamese place opened on the scene, I was hesitant to say the least.
But its location won me over. Anything in Mt Albert has to be good, it’s not on the tourist track, and few people from out of zone, apart from fervent chowhounds, make their way there.
Parkside Café serves typical café food during the day, but come 5:30pm, this place transmogrifies into an intimate Vietnamese restaurant. The staff appear to be mostly Vietnamese which is a great sign. The menu is well edited but entirely in English; I wished they had included the Vietnamese names, as I find menus the best way to learn a little of the language of where the cuisine is from.
We started with Bánh xèo, on the menu as Vietnamese savoury fried pancakes with braised pork, prawn, bean sprout, mung beans. This omelette-lookalike is actually made from rice flour and turmeric. My favourite version of this is thin, crispy with a good balance of pork to prawn to slightly wilted bean sprouts. Parkside’s version is doughier with too much seemingly raw sprouts.
We continued with Hanoi fried minced pork with young green rice (cốm). The green rice had a grainy texture but a nutty taste. Delicious and intriguing.
The squid salad with mango, pineapple, green banana, carrot and red onion was blander than I expected. There was little mango to speak of, though the squid was nicely tender. I’ve never had green banana before, it had a crunchy slightly astringent taste. I think the dressing needed more sweetness to balance out flavours.
The other salad, spicy lotus root salad was really spicy! I admit I am a wimp in the chilli department and gave up after my second mouthful, but the others in the group enjoyed this.
The wok-seared ‘shaking’ beef is the pick of the evening. A decent serving, with meltingly tender beef, seasoned perfectly.
The wok-seared spicy lemongrass chicken was delicious as well, though it could have done with a stronger lemongrass flavour.
There were no Vietnamese desserts on offer, but we succumbed to the perfectly acceptable chocolate tart and crème caramel.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The staff are courteous and friendly. My friends brought their guide dog puppy-in-training, and this was readily accommodated with a table at the corner, without any fuss. There are some delicious dishes on the menu, and the atmosphere is cosy. Parkside Café is well worth a visit.

We travel over to Mt Albert to go here for the service firstly and then the food. 😉 Always seating. Excellent coffee. Consistency with the food. Some interesting twists on the standard eggs bene. But also a Vietnamese influence too. Not been for dinner yet though.
Best Pho in town! Have been coming back here for a long time and it never disappoints. Very friendly staff who are always open for a chat.
It is a very cute and convenient local café. Great quality food. I visit very often. Love Banhmi and pho😃
Great coffee. We were excited to be able to order the lunch dishes at breakfast. The small pho was generously sized and delicious. Pork sliders were also great - pulled pork was juicy, apple slaw well balanced, and buns were perfectly toasted (slightly crispy on the outside and soft and buttery inside). Lovely, friendly person making the coffees too.
Friendly environment all-round. Ordered the vegetarian options available on the day and they came out within a reasonable time - didn't have to wait long at all!
Very satisfying meals and a great quantity!

One of the best coffee ☕ in Auckland. Everything is great, food, scones, muffins well just I love keeping going there every time I can!! 😊
Had Pho beef soup and signature salad. Both meal are superb. The soup is thick enough and very perfect with beef. Salad can be not enough for me as a meal caz I am eating a lot, my wife super enjoyed eating it and said quite enough. And one lady working the restaurant is very kind. Will definattely visit again.
Best almond milk, decaf coffee I've had. Very nice staff and atmosphere. Great location for families next to Rocket Park.
Yay back open for dinner! New menu but food was amazing, fresh menu. The lovely Ang still there full of smiles. Support local folks 😜
Lunch was delicious.
Lots of flavor, great customer service.
Portion size is excellent.
Highly recommend this Cafe.
Really good atmosphere and right next to Rocket park in Mt Albert.

this place serve brunch with a twist of vketnanmese flavor. it's kinda nice as too many same or samilar brunch out there. this place was a bit special. even though we orderd a prawn spaghetti, it comes more like asian flavor, different but still so tasty.
I had beef cheek stew with toast, toast was so fresh and crispy, beef cheek was so tender inside the juicy reduced soup. Staff was interesting too.
Hidden gem! Only visited this place because we had an entertainment voucher. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the chef here really takes pride in his food. Beautiful presentation and delicious flavours. Forgot to take photos of our mains, ate them so quickly! The duck/orange/kumara dish was so good.
Im quite surprised that their dinner menu is delicious, beef and prawn was yum, salted egg tofu needs more salted egg. Other than that everything was great!
Good service
Very delish
Clean and tidy
High recommended!
I love the vegetarian sandwich or having for lunch a Parkside Signature Salad ,or a Lamb Burger, with a big ginger crunch biscuit or an Anzac cookie and an iced coffee or cappuccino or bottled fruit Juice .
