We have come here often. We like to some of the other places because it’s quick, easy and a little more simpler and unpretentious than other places. It’s a diner feel. Quick, easy, get in-eat-leave kind of feel. The food is good. Bulgogi and spicy pork are strong favourites as is the chicken kangjung and the dumplings. Ramen is solid if you feel like that but their japchae is preferred. Jokbal and hot pots are average but good. Open until late works when you have had to work or study late. Prices are pretty fair.
This place has been here longer than I've been in this country. I have lots of memories with it. This greenhouse watched me turned from a boy to a man, from a student to a father. The taste is the same for all past 17 years. People have come and gone but this greenhouse stood still. Right now with lots of small restaurants opened along queen street, this greenhouse is no longer busy and maybe one day the owner will sell this place and I return with lots of $$$$ and this place will become another 15 storey apartment. You better eat it while you can.
A bit far from the rest of the korean restos but all good. Awesome food, good portions and sides and friendly service. Prices not bad. Definitely coming back here.

Unique resto in the middle of cbd with design looks like a train but have a big seating inside.. we ordered kimchi pork belly, seafood pancake and beef bbq with some soju and plum wine.. what a good food to end of the day
Everyone should try their bulgogi here (Korean bbq). I always get the Korean beef bbq and pork bbq. It comes with rice and other small side dishes to eat, which is a good value of what you pay for. I have not had a better bulgogi dish than here. I have also tried the cold noodle soup. One of my favorites also. The service is always friendly, you grab water for yourself which I have no problems with. You go here to eat good food, not to be treated like the royal family. This is an accurate representation of what good quality Korean food is like. Definitely recommend!

A lovely little Korean restaurant that's opened for all you late eaters till 1am. Have been going to it for years & has never failed to disappoint 😊.
I always get the Kimchi rice (with egg on top) from here along with the BBQ pork. I also the love the stuff on the side that accompanies the food. (You can top it up as many times as you like)
Even tried their ramen noodle soup a couple of times but not as spicy as I thought it would be 🌶️🌶️.
The Korean beer they serve there is "strong" stuff ⛔ Beware ⛔, lol.
Food : 5/5
Ambience : 5/5

Overall : A great dining experience.
The beef and tofu steamboat is so good for cold days ❄️ It really warms you up! And just look at this beauty.
I like how Kang Nam Station is generous with their side dishes too. Always a plus 😍
One of the many Korean restaurant along Queen Street. They have a nice set of dishes and the food is good. It’s not one of the best but its at par to others.
It’s open till 12 or 1am at the night, so definitely a really good choice for late eater. The small dishes are free and you can top up for many times you like. The staff is friendly. I have tried the beef soup, tasty, beef is soft, and rice cake is full of flavour.
One of my regular ultra fave restaurants to visit for Korean Bulgogi and Krispy fried dumplings.
Take a seat, help yourself to the water, pick your meal and service us at the push of a button!
Love this place! Great and friendly service, food is delicious. My favourites are the tofu soup, bbq beef and rice cake ramen soup. Nice and quiet place to eat as well.
We ordered the spicy squid, bbq beef, spicy pork and a large spicy roe soup, they were all delicious! The sides are free and they are topped up when you ask them to. The staff were friendly and efficient. I’d recommend this joint to others.
My favourite place when it comes to late dinning. Reasonable price and portion. Service is quick and friendly. I would say this place is one of the most Korean authentic restaurants in Auckland. Will come back to try more dishes in their menu.
Simple Korean Food but still super delicious. Portion sizes are more than enough for an affordable price. Looks small from the outside but a bigger dining area inside. Highly recommend this place if you're feeling like tasty, cheap Korean food, especially late at night as their opening hours go on till early morning. love me a good post-town feed.
I had an amazing experience here, I loved every moment. They have excellent food and customer service which gave the place a warm & loving atmosphere. As soon as I got through the door I was greeted and given a table with menus right away. The best part are their open hours. I'd love to come back asap and try everything on their menu. Despite how the building looks small from the outside there is no need to worry as there are many more tables that make the place feel bigger when you're inside. If you are into kpop culture then you would feel at home in the restaurant as they even turn on the television for everyone to watch the channel KBS2. Not going to lie, but if you're a Koreaboo then make sure that you have eaten here, they wont disappoint.
Overall I highly recommend this place.
We've been here 8 years ago and to find a place open after midnight, this one is definitely a keeper. Cheap, so tasty, polite staff and a well deserved meal to satisfy anyone's gut. My hubby ordered the yummy squid $15 and I my favourite Korean dish, the spicy rice cakes $15 swimming in generous sauce and noodles. Again I wasn't letdown. Rice cakes had a kick and had I just had to scrape the plate clean as I didn't want to waste anything. The squid was yum too. You get the usual individual side dishes that could've been a wee bit more. But overall, so enjoyable to eat. A place to come back to when it's well past midnight. Superb tasty food!
After a long night, nothing's better than to fill your stomach before going to bed.
The Kang Man offers a good variety of Korean food at affordable prices.
Don't judge a book by its cover. I ordered the Korean bbq pork and Korean rice cakes and I was so satisfied with my meal. Staff were very lovely and polite and food was very prompt.
It was actually nice to not have to spend over $100 for once when dining out. We spent an average of $40 between the two of us. I was full. My partner said he would have liked more meat for the price he paid but he enjoyed his meal at the same time.
I don't normally eat alot of Korean food but I really enjoyed it. Casual, but a good night to be dancing in my seat - KNOWING, that I had something I really enjoyed. Don't forget to grab a drink from the fridge on the way to your table. 👍
I also was stoked to see samanco ice creams in their freezer. Never thought I'd find any in NZ. Total satisfaction for a food blogger 👏👌 I'll be back again. 👍
Great customer service & delicious food as always! The sides are a nice addition as well as the dumplings. The pork belly & kimchi was pretty good !!
Love this place! Really enjoy the meals and love taking friends to the deceptively large restaurant with the awesome tree growing through it. Really convenient that they’re open late so I can grab dinner after a late job in town. Some have complained that it’s not “authentic” enough but we this is our go to option. Not at all out local but we’ll alway try to find n excuse to go.
Kang Nam Station is great for a reliable cheap eat. It looks like there's only a few tables out front, but the secret is to go into the back where there's more seating. It's a lot quieter there away from the kitchen, and there's a TV playing kpop music very quietly too. The staff were very friendly and came pretty quickly when you press the bell at the table. Most dishes are around 15 to 20 dollars each. Water is self service.
I had the dumpling soup with rice cakes, which was surprisingly large portioned and filling. There were at least 8 dumplings filled with minced pork and tofu skin. There were also lots of vegetables and rice cake slices, all topped with some seaweed. The soup was refreshing and flavourful, no doubt because of how many ingredients were floating in it.
You also get side dishes to share, which you can request refills of. There was a salty seaweed salad, delicious sweet potato cubes, bean sprouts and sliced dried tofu. They were all delicious and I was really happy that there weren't any spicy side dishes.
Overall, this is a great place for a filling and healthy cheap eat in the Queen St vicinity.
Food is always amazing. One of my top favourite food places in Auckland CBD. Love that you get side dishes for free with your main hot plate. Very inexpensive and is just an all round amazing food place.
Visited on a Saturday at late lunch time and it was almost empty. Clientele seems to be non-Korean. Didn't realise there was another room of seating at the back with a tree growling through the building. My general feeling was that the food was decent, but almost identical to other restaurants. Service was very friendly :). Sides were the generic 4 - bean sprouts (slightly weird plasticy taste to these), sliced fish cake, seaweed and sweet potatoes (a little different, tasted like day old chips dipped in sugar syrup). I had ox tail soup ( nice flavour but basically just ox tail meat in broth with no extras), also tried the sizzling spicy pork (more tender than usual and not many veges just a lot of meat) and the spicy beef bowl (very tender meat). Price was similar to bannsang and other places with more inspired offerings. Basically just no point of differentiation which is crucial to surviving when surrounded by other restaurants of the same cuisine! It was ok but next time I'm going for something a bit different.
Great place! Amazing food! Been many times and would keep going back. Pretty good service and clean area. The buttons on the table and self serve water is great.
Iv been here 4 times, really good value for money. If you want a reasonably good meal on a budget. It comes with four Korean side dishes. The restaurant is reasonably clean, the buttons on the tables are a great idea. The The service is okay, but the food is good.
My fave korean place to go too!
Friendly staff, educated me a bit on some of the programmes that they were watching.
The food looks exactly like the photos and taste even better!
It looks small from the outside but there is plenty of room out back, with a tree going through the building.
Great place to either eat in or just order food to take out.
My fave place for Korean foods. I specially adore the Spicy beef soup. The side dishes are wonderfully prepared on your table as well. The staff are nice and accommodating.
I thought this place was a fast food like fish n chips as I was walking by, but as I go in it's actually a restaurant which was cool. The food here was tasty love the sides they had also the dumplings(my fav), BBQ chicken. Was here with my mother and we really enjoyed it plus the service was good and friendly.
Visited here for dinner last night with a group of friends. Always noticed this place located right on the corner of Queen st and mayoral drive. Walking in the restaurant looks very small, but they have an extended room to the right of the counter.
We ordered lots of dishes to share between us. All were decent portions and perfect for sharing. The Korean side dishes that come complimentary with your meal were a nice bonus. The service is good and the food is really quick to come out.
Favourite dishes were chicken cutlet, BBQ chicken, fried dumplings and the Kangjung chicken.
Always used to come here in 2012 because I love their food and the side dishes, and then they changed one of their side dish and did not come back. But their food is above average, great service and love the side dishes.
A distinctive feature of this restaurant is the live tree in the middle of their dining area. Which is pretty cool.
Quick service. Friendly staff. Affordable food. Best cold noodles I've had out of all the Korean restaurants I've been to so far.
The soup is tasty and the noodles aren't soggy and gloopy like some other places I've had. Food comes with generous and various helpings of traditional Korean side dishes.
My go to Korean joint. Such a weird set up though! I honestly think I've probably brought like 15 friends/family members here over the years. Love the K Pop, love the sizzling chicken.
When you want a quick, tasty and satisfying korean bbq food in Auckland city, Kang Nam station is the place to go. I have been coming to this place since Uni and still keep coming back 😊
Lovely little restaurant in the middle of queen street. The gentleman at the counter was very lovely and served us very well as we were the only ones there in the sitting outside. We had jabchae bob and bimbimbop. Food was good and service excellent
Surprisingly bigger inside than my initial impression. Good bang for buck! Staff were very friendly and food was delicious. I would definitely go there again but if you like spicy food make sure you tell them. I ordered my food spicy and it was only mildly so.
Rate looks like a train on queen street, really good I had the beef spicy soup and vegetables dumplings and less than 30 dollars. Good for what it is, service was great..
KANG NAM very beautiful small restaurant.i order KOREAN BBQ CHICKEN it comes with rice. It's too delicious.Side dishes like SEAWEED,KUMURA,PICKLES taste so good.
Quality of food is nice.well worth money.
Customer service :4/5
Quality of food :4.5/5
This was the first korean restaurant I've ever been to and I've been going back so often ever since! The staff are very nice and approachable, the food is great! I especially love their side dishes. Service was quick so its really convenient to go to if you're really hungry and need good food to fill you up and the prices are great too
Service was friendly and welcoming! and very quick (which is a plus) Food was yummy.. Cheap food and descent portions. Would definitely return.
One of my fav korean restaurant ♥️♥️♥️ my bf and i always come here when we're craving for korean food. Their service is a bit slow specially when they're busy around night. But the food was always amazing and not disappointing. Would highly recommend ♥️♥️♥️
Walked in at about 1.05am after a fun night with the wife in town (they close at 1.00am), guy at the door smiled and said only take away and shut the door behind us.
Ultimate bang for buck!
We ordered the Korean Beef Barbecue and an extra order of rice. Paid $15.
5 mins the order was done!
So surprised to walk away with a mini feast!!! Our Beef Barbecue came with 4 different Ban-chan (Bean sprouts, Seaweed, Potatoes and an egg roll). We asked how much for kimchi and they happily gave us some for free!!!
Great late night feed for less than $20 for 2.
The food is nice and the staff are friendly. I like the Tofu Soup, especially on a cold day! This is one of the few places in Auckland, where you can get dinner in the middle of the night. Late supper? No problem. Just pop by here to enjoy some Korean food!
Had the BBQ pork, was yummy & a good size. Spice was reasonable and tasty. Could've had some more free entree options. Good value for the money.
This restaurant is disliked by many Koreans but I don't know why! The food here is amazing and tastes better than other popular Korean restaurants. I highly recommend this place and location is just perfect for anyone. Great service and great food!
Best BBQ spicy pork, my friend took me here and said it was her favourite korean restaurant :) I've loved it ever since, reasonable price and food comes quickly, I love coming here and I love how late it stays open until.
???Kang Nam station is a great food stop! I started my relationship with Korean food here with Bibimbap, Bbq pork and kangjung chicken. Sooooo much food for two!
The complimentary side dishes (served cold) are exciting additions to your meal. For those who like to try new things and have an affinity for pick n mixing, Kangnam is for you! Order extra Kimchi by pressing the bell on your table. Yes there is a service buzzer built into the table top!
Tips for the first timer: order the Kangjung chicken to share and dont be afraid to sample something new.
Baaaaaaargain cheap eat!!! This place has a random quirk about it but in a good way! It's exterior is like an American diner meets Asia. There's K-pop on TV and part of a tree trunk is growing inside of it. I've not had much experience with Korean cuisine so a friend recommended I order the bibimbap. I just googled the term n it means "mixed rice". It came in a bowl similar to a clay pot with a lovely array of veggies, mince and a fried egg on top. They also serve you chilled complimentary side dishes. These consisted of: kimchi (our request), potatoes (awesome!), seaweed salad, steamed egg, and a bean sprout combo. These were a nice touch as we weren't expecting them and were great to try! (See the pics others have posted) The bibimbap comes with a tasty chilli sauce that is mild so you chilli lovers can squirt all you want or as little as you desire.
The foods probably a solid 3.5 but the extra 0.5 is for my dining experience. I liken it to going overseas and just trying whatever tickles your fancy at that moment because you have no idea what it is going to be like! There is a button you can push on each table for service. AND you can request refills of your side dishes for free!!! Kimchi me up please!
The guy at the counter is super cheerful which is really cute. The complimentary refillable side dishes are a pleasant surprise, who doesn't love getting more!?!?! I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu! Op, op, op, op, op, opa Kang Nam st....ation.
I quite like this Korean restaurant. Probably one of the best ones in the city. Some say it's a little pricey but the food here is nice.
Love kimchi so ordered a kimchi fried rice and a kimchi pancake. SO. GOOD! Love it. But my friend ordered a Korean BBQ beef dish, flavours were great but the beef was very chewy. They also give you some "sides" for free. Love those potatoes. Little dry but I like the taste.
Good place to have late dinner, the BBQ meats a little bit sweet (too much msg or sugar maybe?). Services were fine. overall 3/5.
I LOVE this place. It's so easy to walk past as it looks tiny so you would assume you would just order at the window and take your food away. Nope! It opens up at the back and can fit quite a few people. Always awesome K Pop/Idol shows playing on the TV. The waiters are lovely, friendly people.
The food is fantastic for the price and is some of the best in the CBD. They allow sharing of plates which is a great way to order a lot of dishes and experiment with things you may not usually buy. The seaweed has to be my favourite thing on the menu though. I am such a sucker for seaweed.
It's a cozy place and you feel very at ease. Plus there is a tree growing in the place. How rad is that?!
The famous green caravan! I used to live in the Volt apartments in town, and me and my friends/flatmates used to call this place "the chicken across the road" since we always got the BBQ chicken to take out. Food is very yummy and reasonably priced, there are many other Korean restaurants in that part of town and this was my favourite. It used to be a bit old and run down but after they renovated a few years ago it's quite a nice clean little place to dine in too. And I love how it has a tree growing thru the restaurant at the back. I love this place and don't go there enough :)
This restaurant is absolutely divine! I was there last night and the waiter/cashier ushered my sister and I to our table within 3 seconds of standing by the door. The BBQ Pork is delicious, evenly seasoned and I didn't have to worry about the portion of the meat since the amount was heavily generous. The sides were delicious and fresh. The highlight of my evening was my Tofu Soup and the SOJU bottle I shared with my sister. Overall excellent service, food and atmosphere - I'm going there again tonight but this time with a fellow colleague of mine. She'll love the place - I know it!
Great restaurant with excellent service. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Food is very delicious. My personal favourite is the BBQ beef. Enjoy the condiments served with most of the dishes such as the fermented/pickled raddish , seaweed and some other ones. Much recommended. Its also convenient as they close down very late between1.30 am to 2.00 am something. So definitely give it a go if your looking to try something new.
I love dinning here. The restaurant seating area out back is really cute and homely. I admit I've only ever had the BBQ Beef here. I keep vowing to try something new, but the BBQ Beef is so good! The serving sizes are decent, the quality and taste amazing. Meals always come with rice and sides which is a pleasant bonus.
Nice big portion, and reasonable prices too. Opens late which can be handy if you are out partying in town and need something to bite after.
Great variety of dishes to choose from too!
Love the food here! It's a small but cozy little restaurant and I love bringing my friends here for a cheap yet absolutely delicious lunch!
The bulgogi is the best I've found in Auckland! The customer service is always very friendly and fast.

Small Korean restaurant. The food was great, though the interior was a bit basic. Yet, the food proved to be quite the experience when dining at a Korean restaurant. Worth sharing with multiple customers as the portion sizes of the steamboat are huge for one or two diners.
I really enjoyed the food, the portion sizes were big as well. The side dishes were yummy. The food came quite quick but the place felt a little small.
The galbitang soup was refreshing and a welcome change from the rich food I have gorged myself on the past week. The spicy bbq pork was excellent and I would say that if you closed your eyes while eating it you would find yourself in Seoul. The restaurant is no frills which is perfect for having a relaxing meal with your loved ones or close friends.
You can feel the vibe from outside with the cool design of the restaurant. Welcoming customers service and friendly. Entry and kimchi are free and you can refill it as many times you want. Food tastes really good and definitely going back when craving for Korean food. The order was quick and yummy. Price and portion are reasonable.
Take a chance to try it you won't regret :)
This was the first place I ate at in New Zealand, and it set the bar way too high. This is the best Korean food that I have had outside of Korea, and better than some in Korea.
Fantastic food and very fast service. Good flavours and heat level. Nice to have the little tray of accompaniments too. Not sure if they do BYO or not but they don't serve alcohol.
I came here a few times when I was a student. After all this time their food is still pretty good. Their sizzling dishes are the best here. Their seafood pancake needs more flavour and a little more crisp. I think the dipping sauce can add a bit of fried spring onion and also some fish sauce could be good. Price is good here and the lady who cooks, serve and basically run the whole restaurant by herself is very good. Also, everyone here gets their own set of side dishes and they are also great.
Simple, no frills Korean restaurant. Good selection of dishes. Ordered the fried chicken (half portion), spicy cold noodles and oxtail soup. Everything was good and includes a small assortment of side dishes (Banchan). Self serve water.
This place brought back fond memories of Korea for me. I used to live not far from the real Gangnam Station and have wanted to come here for a while. I was not disappointed. The food was pretty good and the staff was really accommodating - they brought us some kimchi on request. I'd come back here if I were craving Korean.
Best korean meals!
Specially spicy chicken feets!!!!
Highly recommend.
Their non spicy beef soup was amazing, this has become my new favourite place to eat in the CBD. The rest of the food was delicious.
I often struggle to find anywhere I can eat because of dietary restrictions, so I was stoked to go somewhere that offers broths etc. I didn't have to make a single modification, which is pretty much unheard of.
This legendary Korean restaurant has been around for decades and I haven't enjoyed Korean food as much as I did today. We had the spicy squid, bulgogi, fishroe soup and spicy beef noodle dishes and they were thoroughly enjoyed👌 Lil side dishes for everyone (with refills too)! Friendly bosses and food came out in no time. Enjoyed the noodles too much I even forgot to snap a photo. Highly recommended!
Had the Oxtail Soup (소꼬리탕). Very flavourful with good portion of meat inside.
Great to eat during this winter season in New Zealand.
I chose the meat steamboat (not keen on cheerio sausages though) which came in a yummy broth, lots of tofu and ramen. Also ordered spicy rice rolls. Delicious Korean food.
Really friendly service! The food is amazing! We love it here! I ordered the Ginseng Chicken Soup and it was amazing!
A place to be if you are craving for authentic Korean cuisine. I had a wonderful time dining, fast service, wide range of food menu-all yummy and affordable. They also serve a good portion of side dishes.
Great ambiance, excellent service, my tummy were so satisfied and definitely will be coming back...very soon 👍❤🎉
Stopped by during our visit to Auckland - fantastic Korean food! Definitely recommend the Spicy Beef Soup and BBQ pork, best I have had in a while.
Wonderful food with plenty of authentic flavour. I loved the Korean BBQ chicken! Speedy and cheerful service. Will definitely visit again when I'm back in town 10/10 ⭐
