One of my fave canton porks ever! Super tasty, on the more sour/vinegary side (which I love) so if that’s not your thing I’d avoid. So far I haven’t brought myself to order anything else because I love the canton pork so much by my partner liked the bang bang chicken!
BEST ROAST DUCK IN AUCKLAND!
I’ve been coming here all year this year with my family, and I really can’t think of any place that has better roast duck!
I love the food here and the vibe. Parking a little tricky but apart from that it’s pretty much very enjoyable.

Had the prawn dumplings, shumai and softshell crab bao. The prawn dumplings and shumai were fantastic, filling was super flavourful and juicy. The came with a small container of chilli oil and soy sauce which was great although the chilli oil was rather bland. Not a big fan of the sauce slathered on the softshell crab bao as it was quite overpowering. The crab itself was great though and the bao was soft and warm. Definitely interested in trying the other menu items in the future
Loved dining here! Food was amazing and the service was fast. Staff were excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend the Lotus Root Chips and Bang Bang Chicken. Chilli Prawns were really good too but was a tad messy as the prawns weren’t shelled - should have been mentioned on the menu. Didn’t particularly enjoy the Deep Fried Chilli Dumplings as we found it too rich and it actually tasted sweet rather than spicy. All in all a good experience. Would definitely go back!
Visited this restaurant for dinner, and enjoyed many tasty dishes.
Ordered Hargow, Xiao Long Bao, Tofu Bao, Lotus Root Chips, Mixed Veggies in Oyster Sauce.
Couldn’t fault any of the dishes, the dumplings were super juicy and fresh, tofu bao was great as many places cannot do tasty veggie friendly baos. Lotus chips were super crunchy with the right amount of saltiness. Would definitely come back here.
Also, staff were really nice and accommodating! 4.5/5
Dropped in after work - they have a 90 mins dining time but as the service was quick we were happily finished in an hour without feeling rushed.
Recommend the cumin lamb, lotus chips & spring onion roti! The lamb was so good - strips of leg marinated then stir fried. Also tried chilli prawns which was a very generous serve of large prawns in the shell.....messy but good.
Portion size was excellent.
Very nice staff & good service.
Hidden gem! Absolute mind blowing quality of food. Best dumplings in Auckland hands down. Will visit again soon to try everything on their menu.
Food was delicious! Lovely atmosphere and wait staff. Pork slightly over done in my meal, but still definitely gets a 5/5. Food came out incredibly quickly.
Quite interesting place, I really like the Ha Gao, the fried chicken, maybe called Big Bang or something and the Fried dumplings .Great place after all.
I took my family here for an indulgent Asian fusion experience - and all four of us were just in awe at the food. To start off we had a pork bao each (they were extremely filling, tender and crunchy, saucy and tasty) and the shumai dumplings (a good balance of pork with the seafood flavour - my dad loved them). We also ordered the deep fried soft shell crab (crunchy and tangy, a nice texture to have on the table) and the sweet honey lamb (which was coated in a lovely sauce and came with wraps - definitely chewy cuts of lamb though but still yummy). Finally, we also ordered some noodles and a bowl of chicken fried rice. The noodles were extremely flavoursome with a very decent amount of meat, and the rice was light and fragrant. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. Service was also 10/10 and food came out fast.

Amazing Asian Fusion Restaurant in Kingsland.
I was totally amazed with all the dishes here at Mix - Asian Fusion.
I would totally give 6/5 for the duck it was probably best roast duck I have ever had. Sauce was bloody lit too.
Soft shell crabs, 5/5, I have tried this dish in numbers of restaurants and all of them were not soft at all. This place had crispy yet soft enough to chew deep fried crabs with brilliant sweet vinegary sauce.
Xiao long bao is another dish I love but hard to find good ones in New Zealand, it was reasonably priced and tasted awesome.
One of my favourite place to visit for First Table now, definitely going again soon.
This asian fusion was surprised me a lot! first environment was really nice, decor not complicated but looks comfortable. Second. Food taste really yummy! i mean every dish i ordered... Dessert super delicious,i'm regret now, why didn't i order somemore and take away.... Third, service really good. 5/5!
Great meal, love the atmosphere. The service was swift and smiley, and not slow and surly! Always a bonus. The food we ordered was well paced, and every dish was a winner. We especially loved the Big Bang chicken and the roast pork and crispy noodles. The pork melted in your mouth, and the noodles were moreish. The iced chocolate ordered was horrid; basically just a surplus of cocoa powder, milk and ice cubes, but was replaced without question. We will definitely be back for more. Great value, too!
Food: 4/5
The Roasted Duck was delicious, very soft and tasty. The winner was the Big Bang Chicken, lovely crunch on the outside and nice amount of sauce.
Service: 5/5
Staff were very friendly and approachable.
An early dinner on Sunday it was with friends. We started with the chicken baos & pork baos. They were good - soft & slightly sweet on the outside & crispy meat inside; though the skin of the pork was a little tough. Gyopza (pork & veggie dumplings) were a bit dry; whilst the pan-fried veggie dumplings were better. The deep-fried soft-shell crabs - 3 in a dish - were very nicely cooked & fairly big per piece. My pick of the day was the sweet honey lamb with steamed wraps - soft wraps with very delicious lamb slices.

Second time here - our favourite dishes are the Xiao long bao, sweet lamb and honey lamb. So good!! The chicken was okay and ribs a bit dry however.
Great service, nice atmosphere
Amazing food and service. It is my 2nd time here, I came again for the cumin lamb and it was just as good as I remember. Will definitely recommend.
Atmosphere is warm and soft
Restaurant looks clean
Food came out at a good speed with good intervals.
No complaints.
😁😁😁
Love this place. I've been here quite a few times now and every time, 10/10. Service is good & food is fantastic. Highly recommend the peking duck, the har gao. Some of the best I've ever had.
Great friendly service coupled with well priced delicious food. Try the Bang Bang chicken and the Bao! A great local spot that never disappoints!
My friend booked on first table so we had a feast! We got a selection of dishes - I had the soft shell crab bao which was delicious. We had fried lotus leaf, vege dumplings and the eggplant was yummy! I also got the fried noodle laksa which was tasty. Mango sago dessert was yummy too.
We took our son from Sydney for lunch earlier today .
We were very impressed with the quality of the food .
The Xio Loong Pau was not just juicy but delicious .
I reckon it is one of the best if not the best in Auckland.
The wok fried green beans with minced pork was crunchy n the green was fresh too .
We tend to get over cooked green for this particular dish elsewhere ,
The fried chicken had a bit of sweet n sour flavor but not over powering .
Crunchy and easy to chew .
It would appear the chef wrapped the chicken pieces with wonton skin ?
Creative and tasty .
Lastly we had the cumin lamb which I think is a Xinjiang dish .
The meat was nicely cut and easy to chew .
Well flavored .
We ate the above with a bowl of rice shared amongst three of us .
Highly recommended.
Amazing deco! My friends and I ordered the soft shell crabs which were really nice! Along with the chicken bao, crab bao, vegetable dumplings, prawn and chives dumplings and Japanese dumplings. The prawn and chives dumplings were really basic and didn’t seem like anything amazing like we’d expected it to be since everything else was great! The only thing that bothered me was the rice bowl came very late to our table? I’d still recommend to others and probably will go back another day!
One reason for the 4 is that one dish took alot longer than the others to come out ( it was maybe around 20 minutes after all the other dishes came that it came). We ordered the gyoza to share. They were amazing, I loved the lemongrass flavour they had to them, it reminded me of being in Cambodia. My husband had the pork bao. I hate bao but when I saw this one come out and saw that it was open and didn't have the usual sticky soggy freaky textured bun and disgusting mushy filling I thought I'd give it a taste. Super food envy! The flavours were fantastic and I loved the crispy pork and hoisin sauce and the bun had a nice firm texture. I ordered the half duck. It was great, loved the crispy skin, there was a good amount of duck on the plate and the sauce with it was great but maybe not enough. I ordered the spring onion roti, it was delicious except it was a chinese spring onion pancake not a roti but I still liked it. I am really keen to come back as I really enjoyed the flavours here.
I had my birthday dinner here. I like how fast the booking had been confirmed, the great lightings in the restaurant and the peking duck! Curry beef is good also but could have been even better if the size is bigger. A little pricey for the food we ordered. Overall is fine.
Best to book a table as this place always seems busy, really nice food - reminds me of blue breeze inn (Ponsonby central), the service has always been lovely, the dishes are really good (recommend crispy pork buns and the honey lamb chicken dish), can buy dishes and share, this place is also byo, doesn’t get too loud and has a nice atmosphere and decor inside. Would definitely recommend and will come back!
We really enjoyed our meal. The lotus chips were a revelation -will definitely have those again. The ribs were good but the duck was a standout. The skin ws crisp and the meat juicy. The sauce was rich and unctuous and was wonderful over the rice we ordered. We had the mini ice cream balls for dessert. Tiny, sweet and perfect!
The service at Mix was really good. Friendly and they anticipated that we would need extra napkins to deal with the ribs and duck. Will definitely go back to try some other food!
The food here is pretty good and tasty. We enjoyed the baos . The eggplant was soso and the cumin lamb too. The ones that stood out are the baos and the duck. Yum!
Situated in the heart of Kingsland is this beautiful fusion kitchen. We were the first customers to walk in on Saturday evening; and were cheerfully greeted by two ladies immediately upon arrival.
The interior is dimly lit and furnished with wood and spacious couches.
You will be spoilt for choice from their menu because they have a wide selection of dim sum, Bao’s, sides and mains to choose from!
We opted for the Shumai, Roast Pork Bao. From Small Plates we got Asian Cold Noodles. From Bigger Plates we got Honey Cumin Lamb, Roast Duck (half), Soft Shell Crab and Asian Green Beans with Pork Mince.
Food came really fast. The Asian cold noodles are a combination of “zoodles” (thin cucumber strings) and vermicelli with a sprinkle of sesame on top. This would have been more enlightening with a splash of lemon or white vinegarette.
Soft shell crab was amazing! Fried so that it crumbles away with every bite and the lemon juice really elevated the taste and texture! It doesn’t leave you feeling greasy or guilty.
Roast duck is very generously portioned for a half! Juicy succulent pieces of duck meat in a very well-seasoned five spiced sauce; I dipped other things into that sauce as well! Juicy but not greasy.
Shumai was well-done and is much like the usual at yumcha. Well-sized and portioned!
Roast pork Bao was good! The crispy skin of the pork was a tad too hard to bite through. The hoisin sauce and fluffy Bao compensated for it though!
Honey Cumin Lamb was very tasty! It comes with 8 thin wraps so you can wrap the meat in. Deliciously seasoned with flavours that burst in your mouth; albeit the lamb was a bit on the tough side to chew on.
Asian green beans was cooked well and well-seasoned too and was generously topped with pork mince.
This is owned and operated by a Chinese team so the dishes are most definitely authentic! An American male who I assume is either the manager or co-owner also speaks very impressively fluent mandarin, which I think adds more to the “fusion” side of things.
I would be back to try other things off the menu!
Food: 9/10

Good food and good prices. Not over complicated and great atmosphere.
We got the Peking Duck Pancakes, Vegetarian Dumplings, Tofu Bao, Tom Yum Soup Dumplings, Crab Bao, Roast Pork Bao and Shumai - delicious. We couldn’t fault anything, especially at those reasonable prices.
Would go again and recommend to friends.
Thanks so much for hosting us for my Birthday Last night and Catering towards our group of 12. The food was very tasty and the customer service was very professional. Waiters and Staff were so friendly and knew all the dishes in detail. Shout out to the cool American dude too. So happy you catered towards Vegans also . Sorry if we were very voicetrous at times hehehe we were just having such a good time. Will definetly be back 5 Stars
Finally got my second visit to mix tonight. I have been waiting for another excuse to go. Tonight was just as great as our first visit if not better. The two of us had the prawn wontons, chicken deep fried dumplings, pork bao, soft shell crab bao and pork ribs. Every single dish was out standing and the service was flawless. Thanks Mix for another wonderful meal.
Our group loved our lunch here. Our favourites were the tempura eggplant as a starter, and the cumin lamb, ribs, and soft shell crab for mains. Delicious!
We came here as s group of 8 and had s great time! If your into great, helpful service, awesome atmospheres and yum food with BYO on the side then this place is for you. 🥟
Yeeah the soft shell crab bao i had here is just rite in texture not too soft/solid and as for the crab i'm happy to say it is Not a deep fry surimi and also just to the rite crunch/molt.
Nice ambience here too in the heart of Kingsland town.
Lunch time it was pretty quiet but it means excellant service. The cocktails were really good, do try the Tokyo tower and the special Monkeys Birthday which ia made with peach schnapps and is on the sweeter side.
The prawn dumplings were full of flavour accompanied with chillie oil sause and soya sause. The Chicken currry puffs had sweetish pastry but flavours went well with an addition of soya sause.
The honey lamb dish with wraps had the flavours but it was made from very fatty cuts of the lamb to be precise lamb flaps so I cannot eat fatty cuts so had to give it a miss.
The deep fried chicken with seaweed was good more like tori in Japanese restaurants.
Overall very good Asian fusion food and should be tried by everyone who loves Asian fusion food.

We came here because we were going to the rugby and we wanted to try somewhere new! We got excited when we saw our favourite yum cha dishes on the menu! To our spontaneous surprise this restaurant delivered all the goods! From the English waiter who could speak Asian, the cool and modern ambience to the amazing food and reasonable prices! We ordered the pork bao which were just as good as the ones at blue breeze inn, if not BETTER and only $6 a pop! We also ordered the pork siu mai, the prawn and coriander dumplings, spring rolls and the deep fried spicy chicken dumplings! All of our dishes came out in great time and we're absolutely amazing and fresh! Unfortunately we weren't fans of the deep fried spicy dumplings because they had a curry taste we didn't like, but other than that the food was top notch! We will definitely be back to try the bigger dishes and for more of that pork belly bao!!!!
Calvin Harris must be in the kitchen the Mix is so good!
Seriously - this is a hidden gem serving up insane Asian Fusion cuisine - like Bluebreeze Inn but at bargain prices.
The dumplings & Bao’s are on point (don’t go past the Shumai and deep fried prawn wontons).
The fried rice is some of the best I’ve had in Auckland (mind blown), and the Asian Greens are the perfect vege side.
Get in there and try it before the rest of Akl discover this hidden gem and blow the prices up!
Second place we visited on valentines day 2018 and found out that like the first place they too had run out of ingredients for 3 dishes we ordered. However the two dishes we did order were AMAZEBALLS! But more amazing was the staff who didnt make us feel bad even though we were hungry and frustrated. Must go for the exemplary service and courteous staff. The dishes we had were the thai curry which was the first of its kind as it had eggplant! (bonus points for good quantity of rice $2 per bowl and the curry was good quantity too). The star of the night were these melt in the mouth chicken with seaweed and mayo. I didnt like the flavor of seaweed though. Thank God it was just on top and could be removed. Must have item! Lastly very reasonably priced. Do order from the big plates if you are a hearty eater. Hats off Mix team!!!
Pretty good price. Similar to Blue Breeze Inn food. But with a bit more variety. Cocktails are nice blend of flavours. Refreshing Green Tea dessert nice. Wish it had more spiciness when a dish is marked spicy. It needs to be medium heat to be considered spicy. Two people with 4 smalls, a main, 2 cocktail and one dessert, $90. Nice ambience.
Review is for takeaway which comprised a number of items from the main menu. We ordered by phone - a complex order for six including pork buns, Go Bang chicken, tempura egg plant, cumin chicken, beef, beans, rice with corn, steamed rice, and several more. Excellent service, ready when predicted, well packaged, and the food itself was all excellent. Best takeaway we have had in weeks. Recommended.
Food was delicious.
I think it’s very good value for money. Dumplings are amazing.
Certainly an improvement on what was here previously.
Staff are great too :)
The fit out was cool, the menu and wine list are all reasonably priced. Everything we ordered was good the stand outs being cumin lamb with the fluffy white buns were delicious, so was the fried noodles with laksa sauce and the green beans with pork mince. The spicy fried dumplings (haam sui gok style) were also a hit! I'd probably give the chicken curry a miss tho. Easy, relaxed, casual dining place.
Mix is a great new Asian fusion place in Kingsland. We tried the chicken and pork baos, cumin lamb and pork mince beans. It was all delicious with the pork mince beans as the favourite!
Heard of this new restaurant and needed to check it out after seeing photos and that round the internet. Really nice interior, lots of seating. Was a bit chilly when sitting down inside though.
Food is amazing, reasonably priced but stunning flavours. Have a really good selection of dumplings, lots of different meat options on the menu, as well as vegetarian options.
They had ran out of chicken for the main so had to apologise and say they couldn't serve it which was a bit disappointing, I believe this is as they are relatively new though and are still guessing how many resources they need etc. which is fine. Got the cumin lamb instead which was delicious, the sauces and flavours were on point. I would have just been personally happier with a few more veges that come with the dish. I could have order a side though of salad.
Amazing place through, definitely will be back. The dumplings are the best I've ever had, so bloody delicious! Very impressed.
I like the pork ribs so much, yummy and tender. Prawn dumpling is sooooo good:) will come back for this🤗🤗🤗🤗😳😳😳😳➖😁😁😄😄😄😃😄😄😁😁😄😁😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

BEST ROAST DUCK IN AUCKLAND!

Nice and fresh food!! Loved the aubergine tempura and the dumpling (real prawn in it!), and lovely Bao! Will definitely go again!
Great asian fusion restaurant. Loved the eggplant tempura, prawn dumplings. Have been here multiple times.
Tasty Asian food. Well presented, well served. We had a delicious meal this evening.
Ordered pork belly bun, big bang chicken and coconut prawn as our lunch. The pork belly has crispy skin that is different from buns served in other places.
Best Food Ever! Really nice Purple Lemonade too. Loved the atmosphere- we went twice in the same week once we found it 😂
I really enjoyed the tasty range of food served here. It would be nice for all the dishes to arrive at once. The floor staff were friendly.
My husband and I LOVE this place. Really cool vibe, the service is excellent and food is fantastic. Reasonably priced, and good variety of dishes to choose from. Wine and beer selection is great, and plenty of non-alcoholic options too. Wait on food isn't too long, even when the place is packed. We've enjoyed dining here each time we've been, and we'll definitely be coming back for more :)
I visited Mix for the first time last night and it was amazing!! Their staff and service were outstanding and the food was next level. They've taken over the old Roasted Addiction cafe and have done a great job turning it from a cafe into a restaurant. Pop in to try their Big Bang Chicken and Crispy Prawn Dumpling. I'll definitely be back very soon ordering those myself..
Enjoyed a very pleasant evening here with a friend. Great service, it was late and they were shutting down the kitchen but slipped in one last order. The food was great. All Asian style food with buns, spicy chicken, crab, and several other dishes an accompanying sauces. We also had a glass of house red wine which was a perfectly fine wine.
Enjoyed our family meal out!
Had read reviews for this place and were in the mood for a nice meal out so grabbed the kids and headed here tonight. It's our first visit. They have a reasonably large menu with a variety that would satisfy most people I think.
We ordered a lot of dishes as we like to try different things. The staff were honest about what he felt was their strongest dishes and perhaps those which could be skipped if we ordered too much.
The service was professional and prompt and helpful. They were good and patient with our kids.
They offer Peking duck, but not every night, I'd make sure they have it, and make sure you order it. Order it early as it takes some time to prepare. Outside of Hong Kong none of us had better duck, it was fantastic. Easily their signature dish.
They do a $10 menu and discount dishes on the main menu and so we ordered the lamb which was great. VERY generous for $10. We had the tempura eggplant. It was ok, probably needs some seasoning and perhaps another 30 seconds cooking.
The spicy deep fried dumplings were also really nice.
All in all we very much enjoyed the food. We will return and would encourage others to visit. They are trying really hard which is nice, given so many restaurants are almost indifferent these days!
The decor is friendly and welcoming too.
Great byo. Feels very upmarket, but the pricing was pretty reasonable. A group of 6 had shared plates, ate way too much delicious food, split the bill and we ended up paying $25 each including corkage.
Recommended soft shell crab.
Good vegetarian options
This restaurant is one of our favourite restaurants in Auckland and for good reason. The food is delicious!! The service and staff are excellent, and it's BYO (wine)! The food is brilliantly priced for the quality of the dishes and you get plenty of it. The Big Bang Chicken and Bao Buns are incredible but to be honest we've eaten most things on the menu and it's all delicious. GO!
Nice little restaurant, not too flashy but a little cold when we arrived in the evening. Friendly waitress. Ordered two types of dumplings and the cumin lamb. The gyoza and Xiao Long bao that we ordered were alright but not great. They both tasted almost the same, the xiao long bao had almost no soup and the dough on the gyoza was a little chewy. However as we only paid less than $10 for each we were happy enough. The cumin lamb came with 8 tiny little bao buns which were soft and delicious. The lamb was also very tasty with good flavouring from spices and also what seemed like onion, spring onion and coriander stalks. It could have been a bit more tender, but again, we were happy enough once we put them inside the cute little baos. Probably a 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 because we weren’t too disappointed with our $50 meal for two.
Food is delicious.
The big bang chicken was really nice.
So is the pay choy with black beans.
And the ribs.
And the dumplings.
It was all nice.
There are lots of small dishes to order and share and bigger dishes.
The pork bay was really good too. Very crispy
Food here is very authentic, and very reasonably priced. The prawn dumpling is delicious, tempura eggplant with miso dipping source is my favorite, comes in big portion and it only costs $10. We will definitely come back again.
