Literally everything we ordered was the most delicious items ever to have eaten from a bakery. The bread is sooo lovely- crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Omg the praline macaron! God it was to die for. The chocolate and coffee mouse cake the absolute best. Absolutely divine. I went at 11am on a Sunday and there were about 8 groups in the line in front of me. Got in about 10-15min later and I could see there was food already sold out so I’m coming at opening time next time!

The deserts here are absolutely sublime. Tried the orange passionfruit tart and it was honestly a revelation. The line can get a bit long but if you're early enough it's not an issue. If you're passionate about your deserts, you cannot go past this place.

The baguettes that we've tried (multi-grain and normal) were one of the best that we've had. Both were usually fresh right out of the oven, still warm and best plain or with a dash of olive oil. Poulet was incredibly scrumptious and macarons were to die for. The best part of it all, it was inexpensive and all pastries were of the best quality.

I have been trying their bread ever since they opened. I must say that I have yet to encounter a better bakery in all of Auckland .

The pastries are crisp and flaky while the sandwiches combines their delicious bread and fresh ingredients to create the optimum savoriness. I have tried all the sandwiches they offer; in my opinion the best sandwich they offer is the ham and cheese. In terms of pastry, the croissants are simply the best (chocolate, normal or almond, they are all equally delicious). The cravate they offer deserve an honorable mention since it contains the optimum combination of sweetness through the use of slightly bitter chocolate and brioche bread , however, the chocolate usually only cover 3/4 of the bread, resulting in 1/4 of the cravate being simply sweet bread (still, not too bad if eaten with coffee).

The bread they have on offer completely crushes all other bakery in all of Auckland. Whether is it the baguette, white loaf, brioche.etc, they are all of the highest quality. I particularly enjoy their baguette, which has a crunchy exterior and a chewy interior. It tastes so good that one could eat the whole stick by itself as a snack without needing any sauces or fillings.

All the desserts they offer are all sublime( Eclairs, chocolate tarts, mousse slices, macrons .etc). One cannot go wrong with trying any of them, but in my opinion the chocolate tart surpasses all other desserts. The chocolate tart contains three pieces of meringue placed around a tower of sweet cream on top of it. When one bites into the tart,&; all of three components harmonize together to form a crunchy, silky, chocolaty, not-overbearingly-sweet flavor.

The coffee they offer is quite smooth and delicious as well, however, I am not an expert coffee drinker so i cannot really make any absolute judgement. I have to say that it does go well with their bread and dessert offerings.

In terms of interior design they have renovated quite a bit since first opening. Their latest look prioritizes line efficiency, allowing people to reach the counter and ordering quickly(line could be 10 people long and in less than 3 minutes one could place their order). It is also quite beautiful and modern. Note, i do not care too much about ambiance of a bakery as long as it looks welcoming and clean thus my opinion could potentially differ from others.

One of the most important factor influencing someone buying from a bakery is the price of the products. I am happy to state that this bakery is extremely fair priced, especially when the sheer quality of its products are so high. Most pastries most go over $5, desserts usually well below $6 and sandwiches around $5.5. I usually buy 1 dessert/pastry, 1 sandwich and 1 small coffee and i pay around $10 each time. Taking into account their high demand, they could have most likely increased the price of their products significantly but their price has not changed too much since opening (accounting for inflation).

Overall the delicious products, low cost and modern ambiance pushes this bakery well above all others in Auckland.

Out of 100, 100.

First of all I gotta give this place a 10/10 cause their pastries are to die for! Yummy and sweet and the pastry is perfect 👌 the only thing I would complain about is that it's always busy cause they are just too popular! And food sell out fast

I’m so blown away by this bakery. As soon as you enter you are met with the aroma of freshly baked bread. Got 2 kinds of baguettes fresh out of the oven. their crust was super crunchy and inside was soft. We also go the lemon loaf and chocolate loaf, both solid and moist, just to die for! In fact, we had already left but had to come back for a second round on the way home.

Hands down my favourite bakery in Auckland. The only “negative” thing about this place is everything i sold out very quickly so because they are so good and there’s always a bit queue especially on the weekend. But service is always quick and impeccable. Perfect place for french treats.

First time here and I must say that my pirchases were worth it. My sandwich was delicious, the macarons were really really sweet but heaps good and I also ordered a caravate which is a choc chip&custard pastry😍 But you have to get in quick, I popped in around 9.30-10am and already there wasnt much left. Will definitely be coming back to try more👍

The only place in Auckland I know that sells clavate. Chocolate and custard sandwiches brioche. I first ate them in Nice and never thought I’d walk into one in NZ.

You have to be quick if you want to get the best range, head there before 9 am, regardless of weekday or weekend.

The price is very reasonable, and although the sandwich seems small it’s very filling and satisfying. Really good value for money is sausage inside sourdough pastry - has some mustard inside. It’s VERY delicious although quite cheap. Good coffee too.

If they had seats to dine in, it would be amazing.

Bought their orange brioche and earl grey macaron. Both were not too sickly sweet like most bakeries, was perfect balance between sweet and tangy for the brioche - inside was a nice, light orange custard. The earl grey macaron was super soft on the inside but slightly crisp when I bit into the outer layer. Tasted so good!!!! Would def come again. Staff were friendly too :) no photo of the earl grey macaron because I ate it too fast hahaha!

After visiting this amazing French cafe, it’s understandable as to why this cafe has such high reviews on Zomato!

La Voie Francaise is a reasonably large cafe situated in Balmoral, Dominion Road. Nice and clean premises, service was ok, staff were reasonably friendly.

The food was amazing! The sandwich in the photo I ordered was perfect. The bread was nice and soft, ingredients fresh, and very reasonably priced.

I’m not a dessert person, but my boyfriend bought the macaroons and cream donut which were impeccable. Not too sweet, tasted fresh, and beautifully packaged.

I have only one word for you. France.😍😍😍 This is not your typical bakery so go in with an open mind and try something new and refreshing. 😎
I went to France a couple of months back and had the most amazing eclairs I had ever tried. It was like a creme brule hiding inside this divine pastry.
But to find one locally in Auckland...a total bonus. Don't be shy to grab a bit of everything from this place. 😉 Especially if you want your tastebuds to melt into something new ❤

Loved their blue cheese with mushrooms on toast. It's a gem place - their pork sandwiches, croissants baguette, chocolate eclair, bacon twist /roll was piping hot when I bought them. Especially in the weekend mornings a 10 mins wait queue which means their bread and pastry are fresh from oven. Great coffee too. Not much seats more of takeaway concept. Feels like your in France after eating their baguette :) never fails.

If you live in this area and haven't been to La Voie Francaise, you're missing out. It's a hive of activity with people dropping by to get their breakfast and coffee. Queues are often long, but the staff are really efficient, so you won't need to wait long. Their coffee is excellent, croissants are crispy and buttery, you can't go wrong really. I regret not getting a baguette as I saw most people leaving with one while I waited for my coffee. Prices are really reasonable too.

Popped by 30 minutes before closing, which is less than ideal for a bakery, but still found some gems. The earl grey macaron is beautifully scented, though a touch sweeter than others (like Vaniye's). Also on offer is ice cream! The vanilla was wonderfully creamy like gelato but denser in texture. Will be back in the morning next time!

Love this place! The French do amazing bakeries and this one is no different. Probably the best bread I've tasted so far in Auckland and their gelato is heavenly. Have been to this establishment a couple of times when I used to live in Auckland and glad I had the opportunity to visit now that I live elsewhere. I came super early at 8 am when they opened and cannot believe the amount of people ordering inside already which goes to show how popular they are. They are consistent with their bread. I had ordered a toast with cheese and mayo sandwich and other breads which I have no idea what they are named as but are all equally good!. There is a table to sit outside and a bench inside with two seats which we managed to get a hold of. I would give it a 5 star but the soy in our mocha was burnt.

Going for a date at the beach, I was craving some delightful French treats to go along with a sunny day of water and fun.

Having read a few reviews, we knew that it was essential to get to this place a bit earlier to avoid the lines and to have the whole range of treats avalible.

To our surprise, the place was still packed at around 9 am, but thankfully they looked like they had quite a lot of stock left.

We ordered a variety of French delights and they all tasted fabulous but I must say the ratatouille toast and chocolate croissant were favourites.

Showstopper: All the baking was nice and buttery. Good service amongst the chaos as well.

Overall Grade: A. Such beautiful and tasty food at an unbelievable cost.

I hate to give them 3.5 out of 5. I was really hoping that my experience would be a 5 out of 5 experience.
I came here with very high expectations seeing that the reviews are really good. Came here before 1pm yesterday and there was hardly anything displayed. Cabinets were empty. Only a handful of eclairs and chou pastries. Very disappointing. It looked a bit sad with all the empty shelves. I suspect that they anticipated that they would not be busy because of it being a day after the long weekend. And I think they were right but I feel that if you are not going to do something properly don't do it at all.
The items I got were really good and I will be back and hopefully give a much better score.

I've heard good things about this place from a workmate (long queues from early mornings) and it wasn't until a friend coincidentally bought a festive cake from this bakery, that I finally made it here!! I was excited to try their pastries.

They bought a cake and I bought myself an almond croissant (cannot resist) and also 2 macaroons.

I must say, the price was very reasonable!! My croissant was $3.50 and was a good size too. The pastry was buttery and I loved the filling. Just the right amount of sweetness and wasn't too nutty.
The festive cake they bought was amazingggg! Was pretty much an almond croissant on steroids. DELICIOUS.

Macaroons however were disappointing as it was too sugary for my liking and not much flavour. But I have not much to compare to as I have never had an actual french version.

Service was very nice, they were actually french! The bakery has simple decor but very french feeling. I liked it.

Would definitely be back if I crave more pastries :) Glad to know there is a simple humble bakery so close to town!

The hunt was on, for a Galette des rois, aka King's cake. The frangipane one, not the Spanish style dried fruit one neither A nor I like. I wanted to find the porcelain figurine in my piece of cake and become queen for the day. A was more interested in eating as much of the almond-y frangipane as he can, then follow the annual tradition. A called the local French bakeries one by one until he hit one that baked the galette. Yay.

Great place for pastries and quiet authentic, Their banquettes are the best in Auckland, a nice crisp to the outside and a tenderness on the inside which make them great for sandwiches. I've tried a entirety of their pastries but my all time favourite would have to be their raspberry tart, a great match of sweetness and tangy tartness from the raspberries. Well worth a visit!

This place is so good I almost didn't want to write this review and just keep it to myself. Everything is delicious but the standouts for the me are the brioche (so light) and the canelles (perfect...crunchy outside and custardy in the middle)
The bread is excellent too.
They have a couple of tables where you can have a coffee and eat, and parking is generally fairly good with space directly outside

Almost everything we try here is so yum, the best sandwiches are the salmon and tuna, the bread used for salmom is especially soft and yum. The eclaires are delicious and so are their macarons, our fave flavours are chocolate, lemon and berry. You must get there before 10,30 on the weekends to get something as they often run out. The coffee is a bit too strong for our taste, the staff could be a tad more polite ( as they often seem flustered and irritated) and I would suggest they figure out a better more organised way to get the order as it seems to happen at random.

This was a beautiful little secret - but probably not so 'secret' any more - Tetsuya is well known amongst Aucklands chefs for his classic french baking skills.

I am always 'caught' between the macaroons and the canneles - he does both 'perfectly'.

This is one of those bakeries where you just can't easily replicate it at home. Each technique is perfect, the french loaf is crusty and chewy - but soft on the inside - lashings of butter or pate are ideal but not at all necessary - but more often than not It doesn't last long enough, to add anything.

The brioche loaf is my favourite weekend purchase - Thick cut slices - lightly toasted with jam - will literally take you to France!!!

La Voie Francaise is one of Auckland's best kept secrets and is undoubtedly one of the best bakeries the city has to offer. Incredibly modest, the creations of this Japanese run, French bakery are marvelously creative and well executed. There are so many of them it's hard to list but in true artisan bakery tradition, each hour brings different products so that freshness is never in doubt. Sometimes it is annoying to have to go at a specific time to have your favourites, but some may see this as just more reason to bow to their perfectionistic approach to baking.

Been back for a 100 times!!

Its really nice to have something quick for breakfast and if you are in a budget budget but want something very nice to eat in the morning or brunch time, well, come and visit La Voie. Smell the freshly baked breads they make in hundreds everyday as they've got an open kitchen here. I have tried most of whats in the shop.

The Eclaire here for example is not saggy and its got that nice crust in it, the cannelle is always as amazing as usual, nice crust on the outside a bit chewy in the inside, the Far breton, cakes, oatmeal breads, brioche and baquettes are all baked with love. My favourite is the croque monsieur, simplicity at its best with ham, bechamel, cheese and a nice bread! Well done, though from time to time I get really bad coffee, I will still be back.

Great baguettes - crunchy on the ourside, salty and soft on the inside. Don't be put off by the queue because it gives you time to choose what you want and it actually moves really fast. Their sweet offerings were a bit fruit-heavy for my taste but it makes sense given that it's summer. I would have loved to have seen some more non-fruit French pastries like Opera cake or rum babas or Paris-Brest. The caramel eclair I got had a crisp eggy choux but was leaning towards being almost burnt, but still edible. The caramel cream patissier filling was abundant and not sickly sweet and the smear of caramel icing was nice and thin so didn't overwhelm with sweetness either. I shall just have to buy another one some time to compare the choux pastry!
I was disappointed with my pistachio macaron however because the buttercream filling had dabs of a berry jam in it! It was a not very nice surprise when I hit the jam and it overpowered the delicate pistachio flavour. I am sure it was a good quality jam and I can see how one would think that the flavours might complement each other, but being someone who isn't a big fan of fruit flavours it ruined the macaron for me. The macarons were really big, so good value, but next time I'll quiz them a bit more about their macaron fillings. The savoury items looked really yummy. I'll definitely come back to try some more goodies.

We love coming here for a Sunday breakfast. Be warned that early is best as it gets packed pretty quickly and there's not much parking available.
I normally always get a cabonos (frankfurters in a wheel of bread) and a cravate (brioche roll with custard and chocolate chips inside). My boyfriend normally gets an egg and bacon bap but has started to opt for the cabonos too.
The coffee isn't too bad and the staff are friendly. My main problem is trying to pronounce everything and I normally end up pointing like an idiot. Never mind.
Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and not badly priced either. I like to change my order up every now and then and will go for a croquet Monsieur next time as they look amazing.

One time I came to buy a chicken sandwich but they had not been made yet. He made one for me especially just so I could go to work ! will come back again and again

Must I say more about La Voice Francaise?? The pics do all the talking! This is a wonderful french bakery where Japanese baker Tetsuya Namekawa crafted his skill from patisserie artisan Pierre Herme.

This must be the quickest "Quick Bite" you could do on the run. I literally took the photos in the car so we could eat them on the way to our shopping trip haha. This is a first, they have a cute chalkboard with a list of when certain items come out of the oven so you don't miss out and can eat them warm! OMG Yum!! If you like blue cheese, pick yourself up the blue cheese, almond and honey scroll. Its moorish and indulgent and its mind-blowing. Defintely not something if your being healthy or watching your weight. The french baguette is like no other, amazingly chewy but crunchy. They also have beautiful sweet desserts on offer which were tempting to buy but with my no sweets month I had to give it a miss.
Go now!! You can't be disappointed with amazing fresh bread!!

Rating:
Food: 9.75/10 - only because it was very messy to eat in the car and we had no serviettes given.
Service: 8.5/10
Value for Money: Very Good

I love love love all of the food on the menu its tasty and delicious!! The macarons, baguettes, custard&choc filled pastries are just three of my favourites! but if you are the owner and you read this review please make your staff aware they need to call for help when there are at least 3 people queing to be served and not wait until there are 8 people as has happened a couple of times when I have visited. Also a microwave to reheat the food would be a good idea for people wishing to dine in because the food is truly divine and these little faults can be easily fixed!! Fix those things and you have an allround great cafe!!

This is the first and ONLY 'French' bakery that I've found in NZ that comes close to the real deal. The first time I tasted their baguette I thought I was back in France.

Absolutely outstanding. This bakery is seriously at the top of his game - we are lucky to have him here.

This place is amazing - I live on the shore, but can't stop coming back here. The macaroons are to die for and so reasonably priced. Every time I come here, I leave with something different. Most things are gone already when I have stopped in, so I can't wait to get there in the morning one day when the place is stocked! It is obviously popular and rightly so. One of Auckland's best kept secrets.

French boyfriend had tears in his eyes when he first tried a baguette from here- at long last Auckland gives us a true taste of France, everything is to die for. Green olive bread on the weekends in outstanding if you're lucky enough to get in before it's gone.

I can't stop coming back to this place! The bread is OMG amazing... they've spruced up the place since I went there and it has a nice clean and warm welcoming atmosphere.

The breads that are our fav are:
Pan De Mie = white loaf bread that has a slight sweet scent and a soft, chewy texture.

Poulet Roti = chicken sandwich served in generous slices of the Pan De Mie with a salad mix

Fruit Croissant = speaks for itself, and it looks even better... heaven in your mouth decorated with strawberries, blackberry, peach, custard, chocolate creme .... enough said.

Canelé = a crunchy caramelized exterior with soft, fluffy insides. The way this was made was incredible and words can't describe how delicious this one small piece of baking genius is.

I can't believe I finally found a REAL bakery in Auckland. I have searched far and high for a great place to buy decent bread and bakery items (without breaking the bank) and I finally found one.

It's run by a talented Japanese baker that studied under one of the greatest French bakers in the world. As a result here he is sharing the goodness of what real bread is supposed to taste like.

The prices for their breads are incredibly reasonable and I would really like to go back there everyday!

The only thing I would like from this place is some more eating space for those that want to munch on the delicious breads as soon as they come out of the oven. :)

La Voie Française is a badly kept secret. This wonderful French patisserie in the most unlikely of location (the quiet end of Dominion Road), has queues lining up for baker Tetsuya Namekawa’s breads, pastries, sandwiches and all manner of delectable baked treats. Tetsuya trained in Paris under the famed Pierre Herme (the undisputed king of macarons).

The team of bakers bake throughout the day as well, so there are fresh, warm baked goods coming out of the oven at different times of the day. These breads and pastries are served at some of the top restaurants (e.g. Meredith’s, The Grove, Clooney) and cafes (e.g. The Grassy Knoll) in Auckland.

Their baguette is justifiably the best in Auckland (and probably New Zealand). I am addicted to their baguette rolls (5 for $3), which are a perfect portion for one. They are brilliant for dinner parties, and I buy them in lots of twenties for when guests come over. They reheat beautifully, and have the perfect crust with a fragrant chewy centre. I have converted several people; or rather I have ruined several guests’ ability to eat mediocre bread.

For a treat, I indulge in their croissant aux amandes (almond croissant). I could wax lyrical about the perfection of the flavour of the almond paste, crunch and buttery-ness… There is also a selection of pastel-coloured macarons ($1.70 each) in flavours or pistachio, blackcurrant, hazelnut, lemon and others.

Their sandwiches are excellent as well; my favourite is the roti poulet ($5), which has chicken shreds in a peppery mayonnaise dressing, lightly pickled carrot ribbons, mesclun salad between slices of their pain de mie (soft white bread). The croque monsieur is cheesy, mustardy and just plain delicious warmed up.
