Beautiful place with beautiful food and coffee. Staff where lovely and the premise was very clean and relaxing. Then... we have the Kitties! So incredible!!!! They are amazing and nice and calming to sit there and unwind with them. Made my day! Xx
Been here a few times and The Cat Lounge has never failed to deliver an outstanding experience! The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food and coffee always delicious and don’t get me started on those adorable cats. Brought my nieces here and they loved it, the colouring pages are a nice touch.
I go to the cat lounge on a regular basis. pretty much 1 x week. food that accommodates to many different diets. Delicious food, welcoming staff, good coffee, and CUTE cats that you must see and play with :)
I have been to The Cat Lounge a couple of times now and each time is it very enjoyable. The cats are obviously very well looked after and loved by all the staff. Speaking of the staff, they were all super friendly and approachable, especially Tyrena - she provided the best customer service I have ever received. The food and coffee was lovely and the place was very clean.
This could easily be two reviews in one but I'll focus mainly on the food 🐱. Yes the cats are great but the food? Let's start from the top - coffee ☕️. First of all having a paw print design set me off in a great mood for the rest of the meal but the coffee itself? Quite weak but enjoyable none the less. The milkshake was what you'd expect, a pleasant balance between syrup and milk 🍼. The cabinet selection is vast enough that most dietary requirements will be fulfilled here but not so big there would be wastage which is nice to see! The plated meals were pleasant but nothing I would come back for, unless I was seeing the kittens 😍. Overall this is a fun place that has mainly a focus on the cats but the food is ok!
We were there on a Saturday 12.30-1pm and as much as the cat experience was good there was hardly anything to choose from in the food cabinet unless you were after something sweet. All in all, it was fun. My 10 year old enjoyed it but I think when you've been there once, there's not a huge draw card to go back.
Was a great experience. Coffee was average but I obviously didn't go just for the coffee. Cats were highly amusing and staff were great. Cool place to relax if you like cats
What a lovely location for animal lovers! All of the staff were so friendly & talked about the animals so you could get some background info. Lots of places to sit with the cats & many will have a play &/or sit on your lap.
I grabbed the $15 coffee & cat experience 'combo' - coffee was well made.
It is recommended to book to avoid disappointment but some times/days are quiet & there's no rush

My friend and I were in need of some de-stressing, so last Sunday we popped over to The Cat Lounge, starting the day with breakfast: Pancake Stack for me, Salmon Eggs Benedict for her.
My Pancake Stack ($17.50) consisted of fluffy pancakes stacked between grilled banana and bacon with maple syrup & whipped cream – filling and delicious. I enjoyed this alongside a soothing Dilmah Elegant Earl Grey tea, and a bit of sweetness on the side in the form of a vegan chocolate cupcake. The Salmon Eggs Benedict ($19) was full of wholehearted goodness: toast, sausages, tomatoes, bacon and mushroom. Delicious!
Bookings are recommended for your visit with the cats, located in an area separated from the side that serves food (there’s health & safety signs prior to entering, plus hand sanitiser). For $12, you can enjoy an hour of cat-cuddling time. We entered to a bright, clean and spacious environment full of creativity and colour: art on the walls, boxes to sleep in, plenty of spaces for the cats to play in. The space is truly a fun but peaceful cat sanctuary.
With a sign informing us that cats sleep about 18 hours a day, it’s no wonder most of the cats we saw were sleeping! They didn’t seem to mind people stroking them and all seemed to have good, even tempers. Some of them are more playful, jumping around and exploring, though none of them seemed to want to be picked up.
There’s a small garden area for the cats to enjoy the sun and fresh air, while visitors can relax on the couches in front of a virtual fire. There’s also plenty of indoor and outdoor space to sit, making The Cat Lounge a fantastic place to spend an easy afternoon with friends, family, or kids!
With its great variety of food, friendly staff, and clean, welcoming environment, I’d highly recommend The Cat Lounge if you’re after a unique, extra cute cafe experience!
Definitely worth a visit or twelve! I tried one of the Cat Lounges Mochas and one of their vegan Cupcakes and it was delicious, a rich decadent treat to be sure. I also popped my head into the cat area to see how their collection of fine felines were doing, they had such a range of personalities it was adorable. One of the smoochiest cats (It was Kong Jr - lets not kid ourselves) who put himself on display and got as much love as possible, while after the smooches one of the less cuddly cats gave me a very forceful meow request and then gave an almighty leap into my chest/arms... clearly no saying no to a cat that wants a cuddle!
I love The Cat Lounge, I would go there everyday if I could! The company is great but the service is even better! No matter how busy they are, the staff are always polite & efficient.
Today I went in for brunch & it was fantastic! Better than many cafes I have been to, not to mention the coffee! I can be a bit of a coffee snob & I am never dissapointed by the coffee at The Cat Lounge!
The place has an overall great atmosphere & is a great place to go for a coffee & a bite to eat, even if you don't want to visit the kitties (but I recommend you do)!

If restaurants were scored on cuteness alone, The Cat Lounge will be the highest rated in Auckland. Each patron has the opportunity of spending an hour cuddling cats, and there's also an all day brunch menu combined with a selection of drinks and cabinet food to have before or after.
Cuddling the cats is wonderful, The Cat Lounge has created a designated cat playground which is very well designed. It's home to approximately 10 cats and is spacious, tidy, and aesthetically pleasing.
Each customer gets to spend up to an hour playing with and cuddling the cats.
The Cat Lounge is popular so expect to be joined by several other customers if you visit on the weekend. There's plenty of seating options in the cat playground so it didn't feel crowded.
Now I must judge the restaurant on its food, which was its only detriment. We were lucky to find a seat in the dining area as there aren't a lot of tables. I ordered a beef burger with fries, and a strawberry milkshake. My burger arrived quickly and was well presented, it came with a reasonable portion of fries.
The beef patty was tender and cooked to a perfect medium. It went very well with the cheese. However, the ciabatta bread and salad didn't taste fresh at all. The salad included caramelized onion, but not enough too add a kick to the overall flavor.
This was quite disappointing as the burger was $18, not cheap.
I tried a homemade cookie from the cabinet which was very nice, great value for $1 too. My strawberry milkshake was nothing special but it was sweet and refreshing nonetheless.
I'll likely come back to The Cat Lounge with my fiance, but only to play with the gorgeous cats. I'm sure the brunch menu will improve with time, but the cabinet food is great quality and a real strong point.
My favourite place in Auckland! The owners and staff are great, always makes us feel welcome. There's nothing I could complain about, the food and coffee are super yumm so as the cakes. Even can get cat related stuff such as t-shirts, board game, calendar, tea light holder, etc.The cats are incredibly cute! They are all really friendly and love that they all have different personalities. Some are more playful than others so everyone can have fun either wanna play with them or just cuddle. Can't wait to go again :)
Had a very pleasant relaxing time at the Cat Lounge! The staff were friendly, I had a cake and coffee before going in and both were realllllyyyyy good!!! Great mix of cats, some really active and playful others very chilled, relaxed and cuddly. All in all a good all round place and will be back again very soon!
Great food and the best coffee I've ever had! Very clean and the service was polite. The cat area was clean and the cats loved attention! I came here for a study date a few times and studying didn't happen because the cats were very friendly and too cute to ignore. Only downside is sometimes I went the cat area became rather crowded, otherwise a very lovely cafe and place to relax.
Mew mew mew mew. Drove all way from east aux to have lunch here. Food was nothing to write home about but they have decent selection of food and drinks available. Still giving place 5 though; you'll come to a place like this more so for the experience. Cats look happy, entertained, super friendly, they'll literally just jump on tables and wot not, was hard for me to leave with kitten jumping up and snuggling themselves to sleep on my lap. The only critique I'll give is to other patrons don't be d1cks if the cats are clearly trying to sleep, leave it f*# alone, your photo opp comes 2nd to their well being, and parents ffs read the rules don't let your kids man handle cats/ kittens and stress them out. Make sure to come to this place though, don't think, just go, serious, cat lover or not, the interweb and science says kittehs are good for you
I love coming here as I am not allowed a cat in the house. I also bring a lot of my friends here to catch up. But something I think there are too many people at once because you can't get much time with the cats specially if many are too tired and sleeping. However, I've tried the cold salads and they're pretty delicious. As well as the iced chocolate drink.

Two weekends ago, I went to The Cat Lounge with a bunch of lovely NZ Bloggers for Brunchclub. When I found out that April’s event was at a cat cafe, I couldn’t miss out on a ticket. Since getting my kitty Turbo, I have become a crazy cat lady so going to this place is definitely up my alley.
What an awesome cafe! The food is to die for, and the cat room is just as amazing. It is very clean and pleasant smelling, filled with rescued cats who are only too happy for a play or cuddle. Also great they have lots of free parking, disability access and entry is for people of all ages. Definitely the best Cat Cafe in NZ!

Not being a cat fan, I had never come across this cafe until my wife mentioned it. I was surprised when she said we have to book ahead. We turned up just before our time slot, there were already several people also waiting to go in. You have 60 minutes with the moggies. You can take a cuppa coffee in the actual room with you, it has an area made up like a living room with cats videos being played on a TV screen and a video of a real fire including sound. There is mini profiles of all the residents cats on the walls too.
The cats have a good play area with climbing tree, and little bridges over peoples heads.
Being a nice warm day on our visit, most of the cats were in the outside area sunbathing and sleeping.
We had some hot food afterwards and a coffee, good size portions for the cost. We enjoyed the cat themed Connect 4 and books to kill time before it was our time.
There is a double security doors, and hand sanitiser to use on entry and departure.
If you are a cat lover, it is a great experience, even if your not it's worth doing something different.
The staff were nice and friendly too, those keen can buy souvenir t shirts too.
Those planning a weekend visit, booking is essential to enter the cat room.

I helped crowdfund The Cat Lounge and eagerly awaited the opening! I finally got the time to go in and it was so cool. We got coffee and some of the food and for cabinet food it was pretty good. It looked fresh and the panini we got had heaps of chicken in it and it was really nice. The coffee and cakes were above average too and were quite enjoyable. The staff were nice and helpful and were great to deal with. The cats were lovely and weren't in the slightest bit phased with my three year old being there. We will definitely be back!
Going to this cafe was one of the happiest moments of my life. Staff were super friendly, cars were adorable. Vanilla milkshake + surrounded by kittens = heaven
My son bugged me and bugged me about taking him to the Cat Lounge once it opened. Finally did and we both had a great time. I am not a coffee drinker, so was pleased to see that there was a good variety of other drinks available. Good variety of food, including some delicious mini cakes (which i had) and my son (who is a huge sausage roll fan and very fussy about them too), said his sausage roll was super tasty.
The cat area is awesome! Amazing set up for the cats & kittens and you can take your food/drink in there too if desired. Lint rollers and hand sanitizer available for your use as you leave were an unexpected bonus and very thoughtful on the part of the owners. We will definitely be returning.
Awesome little place, i've been to a few times now. Food Great. Coffee Great. Kitties.... do you even need to ask? Such an amazing layout for the cat part of the cafe, so many places for them to play. Will be back again and again!
Fantastic as always - I go in every week now! Coffee is fast and delicious and the food is amazing. Prices are very competitive for food and visiting the gorgeous cats. The owners take care of the place very well and it is always clean in the cat area and cafe area. Staff are always smiling and happy to answer any questions. Make sure to book as they can get super busy - for good reason!

I am a very big cat lover and was undoubtedly excited when New Zealand's first cat cafe opened right on the Shore. They offer quality coffees and cabinet food items on one side of the cafe, and in a separate room house all of the cats and kittens. All of the cats are very well accustomed to being around people, and enjoy being cuddled and pet without any complaints. They roam freely around the room and are happy to have a nap on anyone who will provide a comfy lap. Each session is filled with only a specific amount of people to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to cuddle a cat. The coffees are served in a takeaway cup to take into the cat room if you wish. After a session with the cats, lint rollers are available to get rid of any hair. Overall an incredible experience and a great way to spend the afternoon! Booking is highly recommended as the Cat Lounge gets booked up very quickly - make sure you call in and book a slot for yourself!!
Being a cat person myself, this is the number one place to visit on my list and it is safe to say that I truly enjoyed myself. The staff were really nice from the moment I called in for a booking till the time that i left the place. Coffee was great and the cafe has a great, happy atmosphere. Definitely a must to visit this place.
This place is amazing! My partner and I came here for my birthday, and it was purrfect!
They have separated the dining and cat areas, so you can order brunch or snacks, then grab your take away coffee cup and head into the Cat Room.
The cats are gorgeous and friendly. They were mostly running around and pretty active, so there were lots of chances to play but also a nice sofa set to stop and relax on. The staff are great, and the cats are so friendly and excited to see their handlers. I was lucky enough that one kitty decided to stop and sit on my shoulders for a spell!
The rooms are set up really well, with lots of places for the cats to sit or climb or hide, and a very cute little outdoor area for some fresh air.
While we didn't eat anything, the coffee was great and the food menu looked nice too. Next time!
The drinks were nice here and the menu has a wide variety. Being able to go in and hang out with the cats was cool and they were really cute, relaxed and let you pet them. The staff were really nice too. It's a nice, relaxed, friendly environment and you get to pet cats!!
Took my cat crazy parents here and they loved it. The cats are all so friendly. Very clean inside as well, the staff do a great job here!

Lovely indoor space for the cats but most like to squeeze in the rather small outdoor sun room. This is the place good place to mingle with larger breed cats. At the time of my visit there is only one kitten.
It does have a café which you can bring food and drinks into the cats' living quarters.
This place is always tidy and the service is fine but I feel like they let too many people in the cat room. there was around 25 people in the room so it's hard to find places to sit and just relax with the cats. Some cats look too skinny, i can feel their bones and they look so weak. Probably tired of the endless attention they get from the customers. Hopefully there's some rotation and a quiet room that they can sleep in even during the open hours.
A cute little cafe! Entry does cost a little despite a little to do. Mos of the cats were sleeping when we went which was pretty stink but thats cats in general! Very popular as well so may need booking in advance for peak times!
I'd highly recommend it if you're a cat lover :) Must book in due to how busy it can be to avoid disappointment. They had a very large range of cats in a very comfortable environment, they're all very happy to be around people and the staff handle and run it very well.
There is 2 sides to the cafe, so if you only want the food or not to be with the cats you certainly can be.
It's all very open such that most of the cats are in view all the time so you don't have to worry about them all hiding if you turn up.
I'd really recommend it, such a fun and relaxing thing to do with the family.
Kids are welcome but do need to be supervised around them.
Thoroughly enjoyed this visit. Although some may think $12 a tad bit expensive it does go to a good cause in looking after the wellbeing of all these felines. I was a happy cat loving customer 😻
The cats are absolutely adorable and very cheeky. My personal favourite is Midnight (black cat). Didn't have any food but the berry smoothie was very nice.
