Truly the best little cafe/restaurant in Auckland - don't want to shout too loud about that as it's so uniquely refreshing and friendly - don't want it overcrowded and hard to get a table! Everytime I visit it feels like the food is cooked with love. Fresh, healthy authentic ingredients- a simple lamb salad with homemade humus and pitta $8.50 incredible value and great taste. Little Algiers owner and chef always has a huge smile and laugh - making the experience so memorable as to want to return again and again.
We stopped in here for a coffee and ended up being tempted by the menu and getting burgers. The burgers were delicious!! Staff were so friendly as well. We would love to go back again next time we are in that area.

First time tried this little place because of halal recommendation from Zomato and the curiosity of those negative comments its had.
I came at 10.45am so the cafe was still quiet on friday. Ordered lamb wrap and mezze platter for takeaway.
Honestly, for $8 lamb kebab, this is beyond my expectation! You wont find any kebabs that cheap in that area!! Tasted good as well, i mean most kebab shop using blended lamb meats so its not 100% lamb. But they used real lamb meats cuts.
The mezze platter, i love it.
Will defo come back for the wrap and will try other menu.
This place is amazing, nice cosy vibe - a true k road gem with amazing staff (especially owner who is a real character) the food is very well priced and delicious. Will definitely be visiting again to work my way around the menu.
I go to this cafe every weekend as the food and coffee is only beaten by the quality of service.
Cheap prices, served with a smile in and good food (the spices, if you know - you know). The owner runs the show on his own, and does a great job doing so.
Definitely recommend trying this place out.

I was craving a big breakfast with a little something extra and I knew Little Algiers was the place to go! It seems as though not a lot of people know about this place because when I went on a Sunday mid morning the place was pretty quiet.ย
I love the quaint and charming vibe of this cafe. We were immediately greeted by who I presume was the owner with the biggest and friendliest smile. I ordered an espresso (really good) and the Little Algiers Big Breakfast. The coffee took some time to come but it looked like that the owner was taking on orders, making coffees, cooking and kitchen hand! I would be more worried for him if the cafe was busy.ย
Breakfast came shortly after the coffee. Presentation was nice and honest. The highlight of the dish was definitely the garlic potatoes! Overall, the dish was full of flavor and I would recommend The only thing that was a little underwhelming was the toast which was just your stock standard bread out of a bag but for $13.00 I couldn't really complain.ย
Will be coming back in the near future.
Just grabbed a great value for money $9.50 beef/egg/cheese/onion/salad burger and cajun fries from Algiers Cafe.
I asked what the difference was between the Deluxe Cheese and the King, advertised on board outside, and received a friendly response, and service in completing the order and on picking up my takeaway.
The burger was simple and delicious. ย Fries were a little bit crunchy, but totally a preference thing.
I will make Algiers a more regular lunch option.
Found this place by accident as was going for a coffee next door but it was shut. Charming discovery! Friendly owner, peaceful vibe, lots on the menu of interest. I ordered a North African bean soup and a lamb wrap to go - both were fresh and tasty and v well priced. Will return, got my eye on the cassoulet and the mezze plate

Love the food and the music and the service, personally I love the beautiful whistling along with the old french music while I eat a delicious and well priced meal! Every time I've been here I've felt right at home :)
Interesting find on a cold rainy day. The place seemed like a casual dining spot for regular costumers. The owner was very friendly and food was simple but yummy. Definitely preferred to chain restaurants for the price you pay.
My husband dragged us out here for Sunday breakfast, having been previously impressed by the well-priced and tasty food.
The menu is small but is indeed well-priced. Basic eggs-and-toast type dishes are around $6; more elaborate dishes around $13-14.
I had the bean cassoulet. It came to the table in a cast iron pan and smelled AMAZING - the fresh herbs and spices were absolutely aromatic. The dish was filling and tasty and I loved the wee chicken sausages it came with. Very satisfying to eat with crusty toast.
The chef was very friendly and single-handedly did everything - coffee, food etc. service was slightly slow but worth the wait.

A spontaneous breakfast trip ended up leading me here, and I am very happy it did!
I work not to far from here, but walking to Ponsonby was looking too difficult, so we elected to go here.
Immediately, the staff welcomed us with smiles and jokes and the service was personal and friendly. This is a place you go to hang out with friends and they know you by name ๐๐ผ
With all day breakfast it's a winner. I ordered the gluten free hash cake with avocado, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. The hash cake was delicious! It was very flavourful, and crispy on the outside with a soft potato filling on the inside. The avocado serving was very generous and with two eggs this was so filling.
It was seasoned well and came out fairly quickly. The only criticism I have is the hash cake was a little crumbly, as it can be tricky making gluten free hash cakes. Apart from that, it was great!
I'll need to try more things on the menu to determine how good overall they are, but based on the choice I did have they were great ๐โ๐ผ๏ธ
I'll be back next week for sure!
This place is great.ย One of the best in Auckland for those looking for good food, good company and a reasonable price,..I was impressed with the good vibes at this place.ย The chap who owns the place was very easy to talk to and served me awesome food.
The owner of this place is the NICEST person I have ever met in food service! I don't even go there that often because it isn't the closest cafe to me but when I do they still remember me. One time I was walking past on the street outside and the owner called out good morning! Even if the food was terrible, I would still go just for the staff and the atmosphere - but luckily they do great food and coffee so this remains my favorite place to eat in Auckland.
Fantastic! Friendly owner and staff, got to practice some of rusty french, and the food was very flavorsome. Had the big breakfast and it was delicious. Will recommend to friends :)

FAVOURITE PLACE EVER! I am a regular here, the staff all know my name and I theirs. I always bring my friends here! The owner is absolutely delightful and always so cheerful, gaurenteed to put a smile on your face.
The food... Where do I start?! It is amazing and so flavoursome! Made with herbs fresh from his garden outside, never disappoints! After trying everything on the menu I created my ultimate signature dish that he makes for me without me ordering yet! Highly recommend Little Algiers! Best food ever!

I used to come to this place semi regularly as an Aucklander and have returned after moving away and the owner still remembered me after 4 years ๐ญ speaks heaps to the type of place it is!
I've known of this place and the owner for quite a while now and always love to stop in, have a chat and eat some food made with love and laughter.
Delicious food and very cheap, I will definitely come back. The atmosphere in there is very warm, the owner is friendly and welcomes you instantly I loved his energy and how happy he was to serve us his food.
A wonderful little gem with an enchanting owner! On the last day of my holiday, I came across this little place and walked in because the menu looked very affordable It's a very cute little cafe, the owner is super lovely and friendly and the food (I got the eggs Benedict on a bagel with avocado) was delicious! I loved the atmosphere with this man singing and laughing as he cooks behind the counter! He seems to know everyone who comes in as well which shows how people like it here :)

We loved the breakfast we had here. Simply delicious and well prepared. Special thanks to the delightful owner who helped safe keep our stuff that we had carelessly forgotten at the cafe. He went out of his way to let us know that he had them safely in his care. Outstanding! We are so grateful to have experienced his hospitality and care.

OK, this gotta be my favourite cafe of Auckland! I came here by accident and I'm so pleased with my decision! The owner of the cafe is super friendly and funny, it made you feel like you went to a friends hole rather than a cafe. The food is so cheap compared to other places in Auckland and tastes so delicious. I ordered the mash potato cake and it comes with a whole half Avo, 2 eggs and 2 thick mesh cakes. I was amazed by the portion vs the price. Can't recommend this place enough<3
Ordered big Little Algiers breakfast and French toast and coffee.
Good food, nice ambience. We sat at the backyard.
