Came for an after work drink and tapas and was really impressed with the delicious food and friendly service. This place has a lovely, welcoming ambience. Gluten free options available too.
I had a very lovely dinner here with a group. We were seated upstairs, which made for great conversation. Our meals were fantastic - within trying our entrees, our group knew that we'd all be getting dessert! The skirt steak main was delicious. Thanks!
Group of 9 diners on Saturday night - received a warm welcome and attentive service - water and wine glasses topped up regularly.
Patience from the waiting staff in dealing with a group of 9 distracted diners much appreciated.
We were seated in the nook which was excellent as there was much laughter and conversation amongst us.
The food was delicious and we all had a lovely fun evening.
Good restaurant that serves European food in Grey Lynn. Nice ambience, charming, quiet, suitable for chilling after work and catching up with friends.
Service is very kind and food is good. Really liked their duck liver parfait and the cheek and mozzarella croquettes.
We arrive at 5pm on Sunday night. Fantastic food, the ribs were delicious and just melted off the bone. The seafood was fresh. The waitress was easy going, fun and attentive.
Just lovely. Great service, awesome food and they put up with the Pokemon obsessed child creatures. The stuffed Jalapeños were a personal fave, the skirt steak and black beans were divine. We'll be back
Cute little restaurant in Grey Lynn. We were attracted by the Burger Tuesday special offer which was burger and chips for $15. They had three options, chicken, veal and classic american. As there were three of us we decided to order one option each. The food tasted good and it was a prompt service. The only two things Id say is it would have been nice if we had top up of water more regularly or if they kept a jug of water on our table and the portion size could have been slightly bigger, I would have liked more chips, felt as if there werent enough. Otherwise really good service and decent food.
Just hosted a birthday dinner for 18 at Siostra and there were 18 totally satisfied and very happy birthday guests. We had a selection of starters to share and a choice of 3 mains. Everything that was served was impeccably presented and the flavours were exquisite. It was unbelievable how they could serve 18 guests in a private room all piping hot meals all at the same time while down in the main restaurant it was a full house. I would totally recommend this restaurant for a quiet dinner with friends but also a great venue for a small birthday party! Kudos to the skilled chefs and the owners Esther and Beki.
Wow what a discovery !!!!!Though I would try out a local restaurant and was totally blown away. The menu is simple and very tasty. The food quality and taste is sensational. We have been there twice in 2 weeks and have been blown away both times. I cant rememeber having my expectations met and bettered like this in a very long time.ervice and staff are fantastic as well. Wait staff very friendly and attentiveManagement extremely friendly and observant. Offered us complimentary desert wine as service time had been a little slow due to them being very busy.Kitchen team bravo.Current favourite by a large marginThanks Dave
Giving this place a solid 5- the food was such high quality and the service was so genuine and caring. The mains are around the $30 mark which was definitely worth it- had the tortellini. The sides all look so tasty and it was hard to narrow it down! Will definitely be back.
Went out for date night last night. Siostra was just great! Really friendly service from all of the staff we encountered, the food was sooo tasty, (particularly the raw fish and the scallops yummmmmmm....) and not expensive. We will be going back there regularly. Grey Lyn dwellers, you lucky people.
Tried this place with Grabone voucher. Have not had a brunch meal this good for a very long while now. The taste is different compare to many breakfast that other cafe served. But it tasted good. The corn fritter were one of best I have tried.

Definitely recommend Siostra for delicious food, excellent wine list, and great service. A fantastic atmosphere and incredible menu makes this neighbourhood restaurant a rare find in a city with similarly designed eateries. Siostra is refreshingly different.
Love this restaurant I was there for fathers Day and had the slow roasted jamacan goat , it was the first time I had eaten goat but I absolutely loved it everyone at the table loved there food and the service was fantastic. Definitely coming back
this is my favorite restaurant. The buttermilk pancakes are amazing!! It's a nice place to hang out in the weekend if you're bored. Great and friendly staff.
What I particularly love and admire about Siostra is the sense of easy welcome to a family-style environment. We have had the most fantastic times there simply because: 1. The relaxed and embracing ambience 2. Amazing, inventive and inexpensive range of both food and wines 3. Service which is quick, attentive and friendly. I guess we've been there dozens of times and we'll certainly continue to be amongst the hundreds of satisfied customers.
This is one of my favourite restaurants. The service is very friendly and attentive. The room is lovely with an amazing art work adorning one wall. The food is outstanding and always consistently high standard. Try the scallops!
Good value for money. They do a wicked brunch on the weekends, too.
I booked a birthday lunch here. The staff were super helpful with the reservation and the food absolutely delicious. Everyone was raving about it. The atmosphere is super cosy. Recommended!
Had a fantastic brunch here. We both had the chorizo / black bean dish which was probably the best brunch I've had in Auckland this year. Really tasty and a bit different from your standard brunch offer in NZ.. Everything on the menu was interesting. Great coffee as well.
We came here for a late breakfast (after lunch!) and Wow we are now definitely wanting to try dinner next time .... I never order corn fritters as a rule ...but they sounded good and they didn't disappoint... Yum very light and the mushroom melody was very tasty... Breakfast with a difference that worked for us ...
WE were to sit upstairs as a group, but one member could not make the stairs so, with no fuss, tables were quickly re-arranged in order for us to eat together downstairs. The food was lovely and tasty. The staff friendly, helpful and attentive. We went on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was full - a good indication of popularity and no wonder - it was delicious and an excellent night. No one was disappointed and all intend returning. I certainly will.
Great dinner here with colleagues on a Friday night! We were able to book a separate room upstairs which was great as the downstairs area was humming so it was nice to have some peace to catch up.
The menu is small but solid. We had three vegetarians in our group who were very happy with their moussaka. I had the lamb and polenta chips - the lamb was so tender and after an average polenta chip experience somewhere else I was happy to have crunchy chips alongside saucy lamb.
Topped off with rhubarb tarts and chocolate cakes suffice to say our group was very happy! Awesome service too - I didn't envy them having to carry our food up and down stairs however there was always a smile and a bit of banter along the way. A great addition to West Lynn and very comfortable.
This restaurant was a little uphill walk from our AirB&B. We got there shortly after it opened and were seated right away. Our waiter was pleasant and the food was yummy, especially the pasta with ricotta. Just the place to go for a casual catch-up with friends or family. Hearty food and a nice vibe with good service. I've also been to a group lunch and various group dinners here - either upstairs or in the main restaurant - they've all been fun and well-catered.
Fantastic food - I had market fish for my main, ox cheeks and mozzarella croquettes starter - to die for - so delicious, hot inside with melted cheese, I kind of wished it was my main! The service was exceptionally fast and friendly on Saturday night even. Well done!
Because I organised a group of people for dinner, arrangements had to been made to seat us upstairs. The first of our group to arrive can not walk upstairs, so the staff quickly and efficiently re-arranged tables in order that we could all eat together downstairs. The food was wonderful and the staff helpful, attentive and friendly. We were all most impressed with everything and all will be returning with other friends.
Highly recommended.
Love this place. Almost don't want to tell anyone else about it because I don't want it to be packed out! They specifically excel at cooking pan-fried fish. This sounds simple but if you know your food, you'll know how hard it is to get this right. In this regard, in my personal experience, which is extensive when it comes to dining out in Auckland, I will go right out there and say that I think that Siostra is one of the best restaurants in Auckland.
Went on a Friday night. The place was packed and the staff were flat out, but that didn't stop them from being friendly and attentive. Food was lovely (particularly the pork tortelloni) and the environment was warm, cheerful and eclectic.

First night in town, so headed down to Siostra, alongside a smattering of Grey Lynn musical royalty. On Esther's recommendation I ordered the American Cheese Burger. Tender, and perfectly cooked I enjoyed every bite, backed up by hoppy draught Pale Ale. The highlight for me was a delightful bitter thin Chocolate Tart. Can only recommend.
Lovely dinner at Siostra (means "sister" in Polish!) good sized meals and tasty too. Great service and helpful friendly staff, good value for money
food is always good, and service as well! so good we go at least once a week with the whole family
Great neighbourhood restaurant. The cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers were well washed down with the Sawmill Pilsener on tap.
Happy hour 5 to 6 pm not to be missed. Great food and very friendly staff.
Best casual dining in Auckland, a mix of traditional Kiwi fare with modern twists.
Cannot wait to dine there again. Lovely, casual atmosphere with exceptional food.
