I often find myself enjoying a lazy weekend brunch with friends or alone at this wonderful cafe, and the food and staff have always always been top notch.
I'm working my way through the menu slowly... it's all good!! Highly recommended to one and all! See you there :)
We stumbled on this great cafe, love the food and also the interior design is inspired.
What a wonderful wee find! Fantastic f ood and such lovely staff. My mum grew up on the area 80 years ago and loved all the photos of her childhood

We met up with friends for breakfast at The Humble Villager in Epsom. The staff were super friendly, our reserved table was available on time and the coffee was excellent. I enjoyed pancakes with strawberries and cream ... delicious. We'd definitely go back :)
This café is cute and cosy! You can tell it’s a favourable place for locals as customers were in and out on a continuous basis. There was a large group dining when we arrived and were notified by staff that there will be a 20min approx. wait. This was fine but us and we really appreciated the heads up. The staff were friendly and the service was good!
My partner and I both ordered the Pesto hummus bagel with cream cheese ($11) and a side of avocado ($4). It was a whole avocado which was plenty for the two of us to share. The portion was generous and the perfect size for lunch. I enjoyed the combination of flavours and the pesto was delicious, I also liked how it was served separately so you could add as much or as little to suit your taste preference. I would happily order this dish again! We also ordered a flat white which was really good.
Overall this place offers good quality food, coffee and service. We’ll definitely be visiting again.
Had the BEST Humble eggs benedict with the BEST hollondaise sauce to date! Comfortable, warm & welcoming atmosphere & decor as well as friendly attentive staff.
Had an early breakfast at the Humble Villager cafe in Epsom.
Delicious eggs on toast, served with bacon, some yummy pickled caramelised onions, grilled tomato and spicy tomato sauce.
Really really good! Also really really friendly staff!
Good coffee, good food. It doesn’t look like much from
the road, but inside it is very spacious and nicely decorated. My salmon bagel was a very generous serving!
A refreshing break from the hipster cafe scene. Just good, simple cafe fare with all the classics very reasonably priced ($12 for eggs on toast!). The decor is really lovely, with photos of old Auckland on the walls, and the service is quick and friendly. They even cater for gluten free (no extra cost) and have vegetarian and vegan options. The barista tells us that residents from the two neighbouring retirements homes often visit to play the piano and 'party' :)
Great addition to a strip of stores usually devoid of any cafes. Staff are very friendly and service is prompt. Coffee reasonable (can be a bit hit and miss), food is good, cozy atmosphere with a large area at the back with couches.
This little cafe in epsom is very cosy and nice. The food is good with generous servings and coffees good. We ordered eggs benedict, eggs on toast and toasted sandwich. The kids polished off the toasted sandwich in minutes.
I had a great lunch at The Humble Villager today! Delicious omelette and flat white!! Really liked the decor and the staff were lovely! Totally worth a visit!!
Great food selection & variety freshly baked on site everyday and now the Café has expanded to become larger and accomodate more people.
The experienced chef caters for Vegan and GF choice, and makes there own sauces to compliment the yummy food.
They have a very good experienced Barista so you will always get great coffee from her.
It now has a seating area at the back to relax with couches so you can sit and read a book or meet with friends.
This is a great community cafe where locals meet.
It also caters for all ages and also the elderly with wheelchair access.
Best Big Breakfast I've ever had.
Seriously. I've had a lot of big breakfasts at various cafés and this was amazing.
Good quantities of everything. Beautiful, runny poached eggs. Well cooked bacon (not crispy on the verge of burnt). Perfect bread softness. All in all amazing.
Cappachino coffee was pretty good too.
Ambiance and decor was nice, homely with an interesting character.
Humble villager is a great place for a great meal. 4.5 stars for the food. Very healthy options which taste fresh and are well thought out. Only rated down because I’m a picky eater and not used to some foods (but it tasted amazing). I had the salmon potato dish and my mum had the cafe’s version of a big breakfast. Not much obvious parking so we caught the bus. Coffee is good, decor is tasteful.
Really love this Cafe, with great food and relax environment.
I ordered an Avocado on toast the other day, which is a great dining experience I could remember in my life.
Also recommend Fish Cake and Pancake here, both are nutritious and delicious.
Will visit again in the future!
Epic spot which I’m proud to call my local. Great for dining in with a top tier menu and the coffee is hard to beat!

Basic breakfast/brunch menu but the food is delicious and good value. Staff are friendly and efficient.
They do the best coffee in Epsom!
And the Wanganui slice is amazing!
Service is top notch and the staff are super friendly.
It’s the perfect spot for a weekend brunch with the family!
Amazing breakfast. Lovely coffee, and the service was second to none. Will be going back every time we are in Auckland.
Nice rustic cafe in Epsom. Parking was not too hard to find, can park on the street. Food was decent but the coffee particularly was very nice
Had a great experience, ver cozy. Had a great brunch, had the apple French toast and salmon and potato dish. Both were fantastic
First place we stopped after we got off the plane and it's incredible! Loved the Benedict and mushi mushi
We were a group of 10 and we had booked the big table. Lovely back seating area for our group. Food was lovely. Mostly we had the delicious coffee and cabinet food. Everyone enjoyed their experience at The Humble Villager.
