We came here today for lunch and ordered the platter. Beef cheeks, brisket, jerk chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, pickled veges jalapeños and sausage. It's was amazing!! The beef cheeks were the absolute best, the servings were generous, we had to takeaway our leftovers. Definitely recommend!!
Tried this for the first time and was super impressed, friendly service and great location. First up the ribs were very meaty and came out amazingly tender just came off the bone like it should and had great mix of spices and sauce, pulled pork was even more tender than he ribs and was a flavour explosion both came with a good mix of tasty sides. Now what I came for the Rueben sandwich which had the best ever pastrami I’ve ever had and was just a delight in every mouthful.
Went to Fireworks a few nights in a row while in Auckland, I can't recommend it highly enough! The meat totally speaks for itself, the sides are on point and the guys there are brilliant. Definitely worth hitting up if you get the chance!
Regularly order through Ubereats and never disappointed. Beef brisket burger is one of my absolute fave burgers ever, and their BBQ lunchbox deal is worth every penny.
Hands down best service in a long time. Sat inside Marvel Grill and ordered from the Fireworks menu. Ordered the platter & short rib. Meat was nicely smoked and sides were tasty. Will be returning.
We had been to Auckland for the meatstock . These guys had been one of the thirty or so entrance . It was amazing on its own . Somwonderoundingnsroind for something to do and eat wemcamemacross them . It was neat we loved it and just enough food on the plate for four Hungary people . Good work . Plus the waitress was lovely doing a great job guys .
What fantastic resturant, top service took time out in their busy time to talk to you about the style of BBQ they're doing. We had the mixed meat plate which was sensational everything on the plate was cooked perfect, thanks.
Second time back, had to go back for the brisket.... had a crack at the pork ribs this time round, very nice meat fell off the bones. But can't say enough about the brisket, absolutely love it!!! Nice work team
Came here for lunch with work colleagues. Great location, great atmosphere, great service and yummy food - I had the pork ribs and it was delicious ;-)
Been a couple times now and foods been awesome. Got a half rack of ribs for $20+ and came worh heaps of sides and the ribs were real meaty. Will be going back for sure!
Love the food here. A little sad that brisket is off the menu but still lovely food. We always get the beef or chicken Burger and there is never a problem . nice and big portions
And staff are rather polite
Had the platter. Jerk chicken, brisket, sausages and beef cheeks. Mac n cheese and chicken gravy mash for sides. Was delicious. Perfect spot for a summers day outing. Smokey and tender
Great food and service. Tender and juicy beef brisket, beef cheek's and beef short rib. The cornbread was sweet. Even the baked beans were tasty. I will be back there very soon.
Visited here just after 1:30pm on Saturday for lunch. Really nice setting right in front of the harbor. Staff were excellent and very attentive.
Ordered the Shared Platter with Jerk chicken, Beef Brisket, Shredded Pork Shoulder and Beef Cheek with the Beef Short Rib on the side. Our sides were the Corn Bread and Mash with Chicken Gravy (The Pork Ribs had already sold out)
Every Meat item was absolutely delicious with the highlight being the Beef Short Rib. The Jerk Chicken was quite spicy but very tasty. Personally I didn't like the sides we ordered, the bread was very dry and the Gravy on the mash was tasteless. We struggled to finish what we had ordered and our dog was pretty lucky to have received our leftovers. All in all a great experience but I think next time I would order different sides.
I would suggest getting here as close to opening time as possible so that you have the highest chance of availability of items on the menu, im glad I read all the reviews before coming so that I was aware of this.
When you're around wynyard quarter, follow your nose and you may find this place! We did not realize it was outdoor seating only, thank goodness for a not so windy winters night and quite good heating.
We ordered the set box that came with a smoked meat and 2 sides. Our choices were chicken and beef, together with coleslaw, gravy mash, mac and cheese and cornbread. The meat was tender and tasty, and would recommend the first two sides as they were delicious!
The mac and cheese was quite tasteless and mac felt overcooked. The corn bread was yummy but only if u like a sweet-ish bread.
Overall a good satisfying meal with a nice outdoor scene :)
Such a hidden gem in Auckland, such a good crew , really really good food , meats smoked to perfection. I think the only thing that could make smokehouse better is a good selection of some real good nz craft beers , then fireworks would be absolute heaven on earth
Restaurant Month Menu: $25 this place shares the indoor dinning area with Marvel Grill. The pork ribs were marinated & grilled to perfection. The beef cheek was succulent and tender💯👌🏾. I have a sweet tooth so definitely recommend the chocolate pudding. Good combination not too overpowering. The pav was a diabetic nightmare but absolutely divine. Great customer service. The mac & cheese was enjoyable, maybe a little less pepper. Recommend the mash & gravy.
We decided to get the platter as it was our first time trying and we wanted to taste a variety :)
The four meats we chose were:
- Pulled Pork Shoulder
- Beef Brisket
- Beef Cheeks
- Jerk Chicken
And the two sides:
- Mac n Cheese
- Potato Salad
It was freakin' awesome! We drove an hour, plus 20 minutes finding a car park lol, to CBD to try it out and we had high hopes for Fireworks because we had been longing for a BBQ place to try. We were NOT disappointed. To be honest, when the platter was presented to us we thought it was pretty small for us but, we actually couldn't finish it and kept cheering on each other to finish the entire meal HA! The jerk chicken was a bit too spicy for me but was cooked very well. Everything was falling apart (which I looove) and every single piece of meat I tried melted in my mouth. Every piece was cut perfectly and easy for us all to dig in. Separate plates were provided along with cutlery so that we could pick off the platter. The Mac n Cheese was my fave! Not sure what's in there but it gives a great kick - today I felt like going back to bottle up the Mac n Cheese sauce but I'll defs be back at Fireworks sometime soon anyway. If you can't tell already, I thoroughly enjoyed my first time experience here :) Pity I forgot to save the photo when I snapchatted it oops.
Had an enjoyable experience with Fireworks as we didn't have to wait long for food and it was very nice. Price is okay and only down point is we had to sit outside while it was pretty cold at night. Food got cold just as fast as we did ;;
Great food great atmosphere. Just what I was looking for. Awesome range of smoked food. Authentic American BBQ. Great selection of sides. Heard a lot about this joint so I thought to pay a visit and was not disappointed .
The best mac n cheese you'll ever have! Came here by accident. Great value and the meat is soooo tender. The beef brisket is delicious. The only comment i would make is to increase the vege side options. But other than that I would totally come here again!!
Fireworks smokehouse is just on the side of marvel grill in Wynyard quarter. Offering all different kinds of smoked/BBQ meat with the great scenic outdoor seating. We ordered off the lunch menu, the beef brisket burger and pulled pork with mac n cheese and chicken mashed potatoes. Definitely tasty and filling!
Holy moly this place served the best ribs I have had in New Zealand, or, ever.
The lunch boxes are priced extremely reasonably and the portions are so big that it's always more than enough to go around. We always end up eating every last morsel because it is f*cking delicious!!
Everything is made/smoked in house (except for the chorizo which is made by a butcher with the fireworks recipe especially for the place).
We absolutely LOVE this place. The meat must be eaten when served when it's hot and tender and dripping with juices!!
Everything was exactly how we imagined. We came all the way from Tuakau especially to try the rare (in nz) BBQ cuisine. It was so worth it. We ordered the 4 meats platter and a brisket burger. Honestly way too much for 2 people. Pork ribs were perfect. Brisket mouth watering and the pulled lamb wow!!!!! Great service from the staff, great atmosphere too. Worth the much awaited BBQ dream we see on American tv.
Yummy affordable and tasty lunch menus!!
The mac n cheese and corn bread is 100! The meat was tasty although not really hot. But we've been a few times
Great value in their lunch box! Had the pulled pork with mac n cheese and potato slaw. Pork was juicy and tasty. The sides were good but a bit on the bland side, could do with more seasoning. I would recommend and go back.
I decided to try this place for my first ever UberEATS order. The order took a lot longer than expected, and the food was cold by the time it arrived, but I didn't really want to leave the house in this crazy Auckland weather.
I ordered the bbq lunch box with beef brisket, corn bread and mac n cheese. I thought the portion was quite decent for the price. The biggest let down was the mac n cheese. It was very bland and tasteless. I was definitely not a fan. However... i am definitely a big fan of the briskets! They were so soft and juicy, with just the perfect smokey flavours. The cornbread was also pretty darn good. It was a little dry and cold but it was still delicious!
I am definitely planning to go and eat there next time instead of getting a delivery.
Used uber eats. Food is amazing well prepared and well seasoned definitely smoky. Would recomend to anyone who likes meats. Will definitely order again.
My friend and I ordered through UberEats yesterday and I have to say, their food was deeeelicious! I ordered the cubano, mac n cheese, potato and chicken gravy and my pal ordered the BBQ lunchbox with brisket, mac n cheese and cornbread. They initially forgot the brisket when the order arrived but they were quick to cover it in the next delivery minutes later with complimentary sides. These guys are all about service and their smoked BBQ is definitely one of the best I've tried here in nz. I wolfed my meal down faster than I could take pics so I'll make up for it the next time I review :)
Holy moly I don't understand why this place wasn't busy as when we go here. Slightly confused on how to order everything or where to go but that's when the staff stepped in and saved the day. With the smoker out front, even with it being an opened floored place, the smells were mouth watering. Menu is simple and easy to understand. Food obviously came out at record speed. Got the platter with a friend. 4 meats 2 sides. We made sure we tried to eat every last bite as the food was amazing. I've never been a fan of lamb but I ate all of the pulled lamb we were given. Left the place unable to move as we were stuffed. Thanks for the fantastic experience.
Been there twice and both times the food has been great!! i recommend the pulled pork and corn bread, the brisket is also quite nice.i didnt really like the lamb ribs. For $87, it feed 3 people including drinks. Will reattend Fireworks Smokehouse another day
By chance we ended up popping in to Fireworks tonight after my partner had been wanting to come for ages! Two of us got the BBQ lunchbox which is such good value for money! I had the jerk chicken, macaroni and cheese and corn on the cob all of which were deliciously flavoured and well cooked! My partner got the chicken and the beef brisket with potato salad which he devoured. Our friends loved their Chicken and beef and broccoli salad too. AND as a bonus they messed up an order (not ours) and made extra so they gave it to us! Which was nice being able to try some beef Cheek! The food from this place is great and super well priced! The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5/5 is because of the service. There was only one guy there and it was quite busy, (not his fault at all) he did great with what he could but we definitely think things would have run smoother if there was someone else on board!

+4.5
Fireworks is well priced for the style of food. Many of the dishes take a long time to prepare and therefore the backlog is lengthy. When we visited, much of their menu was unavailable so we pretty much got everything else they had available. I suspect we were given larger portions because of this but can't be sure. They threw in a couple of freshly baked skillets of cornbread for free and this was absolutely divine. What we tried was fantastic and this is one of the best value barbecue joints in Auckland. Would recommend and 100% will come back.
Called in here after a cooling swim @ Te Whero bridge Wed 1 Feb 2017, good value for a North Wharf eatery, love the smokyness of this place & the Pork ribs are very moreessh and I could have nibbled on another 3 of them. Marvel Grill use to be here. I'll be back. Some beetroot on the sides menu would be nice.
Over Xmas we read a very good review of the Fireworks Smokehouse that had recently opened in the Wynyard Quarter, so having to be in the city we decided to try it out for ourselves. We went for the $15 lunchboxes - meat + 2 sides and pickles. We chose pulled pork and the lamb ribs (the pork ribs were not available) with mac 'n' cheese, baked beans, corn bread, and broccoli salad to share. The pulled pork was smoky, succulent and very tasty. The smoked lamb ribs were unfortunately very fatty and tough - we are not convinced that lamb ribs work to the same extent as pork or beef in this form of cooking. The broccoli with bacon was a winner. The mac 'n' cheese and baked beans, although served in cast iron skillets, were only luke warm, which was a shame as they were both very tasty. The pickled cauliflower on the side added a nice contrasting sharpness. The corn bread was a substantial chunk, and overall the whole meal was satisfying and very good value for lunch.
We went to this place for lunch with a colleague. Ordered jerk chicken lunchbox and my colleague ordered pork lunchbox. The chicken dish that I ordered was great but her dish was a bit overdone and the pork ended up sort of rubbery. Overall, the ambience was good, the person who took our order had a smiling blissful face and the location was great. Only feedback would be that it would be great if there are more lunchbox options?
Went down for my lunch break to wynyard quarter and saw this place and the smoker immediately caught my eye! I had the beef cheeks lunchbox and it was soft and had a nice smoky flavor and coupled with some great corn bread and mac n cheese which i mixed with the sauce they gave. Definitely would come back to try their other meals!
Dined here with my partner tonight. This place is great if your a real meat eater like my partner is. I had checked out the menu online but they only had a few different options of meat available & some of the sides were out of season which was a shame. We shared the chorizo, lamb ribs, jerk chicken and corn bread. The jerk chicken was well cooked but bland. Everything else was flavoursome and delicious. For drinks you go to the bar next door which was a little different but that worked out fine. The pricing of the food is very reasonable & the portions are generous. The seating is mostly outdoor so it wouldn't be so good on a wet or windy night, but on warmer evenings this place is in a great spot on the waterfront.
Saw some great looking pics online and was keen to check it out having just moved back home to NZ. Got a range of things to sample. The brisket was phenomenal and the lamb ribs very nice too. It was the first time I'd had beef cheeks, but it wasn't really my thing. The chorizo was a nice smoky flavour, but not a strong traditional chorizo style. Didn't really work for me. The mac and cheese was very good, and the extras were good too - corn bread, slaw & broccoli. Unfortunately my beer was warm, should've said something but just drank it anyway. Overall was very good and will definitely be back.
Amazing! Best meat in Auckland! A must try. Quality food, service and ambiance. My first experience and chefs and waitor went the extra mile for my partner and I to have the most enjoyable, relaxing and fulfilling experience. We will definitely be back!
What a great addition to the range of restaurants at Wynyard Qtr. Firehouse offers a casual but delicious menu range all based on a Southern style BBQ.
We tried the lamb ribs & jerk chicken lunch boxes. Both with some yummy sides (creamy mash) & reasonably priced yet filling.
The meat was well cooked, smoky & tender. Only thing to be aware of is that you may smell a bit smoky for the rest of the day. They do have takeaway options if this is a concern though.
Will visit again soon to try more of the menu.
Yummm! What a great place. Love the bbq here. And very good vaue.
Have had the brisket roll with a beer cheese sauce. It comes with a load of pickles on the side which is great.
The beef ribs are good too with the sides. The mac n cheese is not bad but not the best I have had. Will definitely be back though especially for the beef brisket so soft and delicious!
Been twice now to give it a second chance. The food was 'good' on both visits but that was it. It was 'good'; Sounds like I am being fussy but it didn't quite live up to expectation. Anyways, I will probably visit again with friends. Its a great spot down by the water front.
BEEF CHEEKS are my new favourite type of meat!!!😍👌The flavour, smokey and moist. Not a fan of Bake beans in general lol but was shocked to find i really enjoyed the Mustard Slaw. I hate mustard but this slaw and the beef cheeks together match made in heaven. Definately a spot to reccomend great prices and great meat!!!!
Good food, mostly perfect BBQ. Pulled pork was a little dry and another of the meats was a little tough but the rest were delicious. Good wine list, average beer list. Would probably come back but it is quite pricey.
Genuine low and slow smokey barbecue. The tastiest platters you can find in Auckland from a team that care about great quality food and are happy to share their knowledge of smokers and barbecue. If you enjoy juicy brisket and smokey ribs this is the right place to be.
Ive been here for lunch a few times and food is always good. I was most impressed with the short rib I had a few weeks back which was on their lunch special at the time. Definitely will be back again. Only down side is that their lunch specials were not as great a year ago.
If you love smoked meet and beer-this is a place for you.Excellent ribs, good service, cheap prices.I coudn't finish my meal-so big it was. Will be back.
Some of the best bbq around and the pickled cauliflower is amazing. Just wish there was a proper indoor dinning area.
Stunning fireworks. The best part about Auckland's fireworks is that it is not as crowded as Dubai
I ordered the Smokehouse Plate with Pork Cheek. The meat was cooked perfectly, melted in my mouth! The sides were great and the portion was very generous with my favourite was being the potato salad. Overall it was meattastic! The service could improve as the person on the counter was not communicating well with the kitchen staff causing delays..
We got the meat platter (4 meats 2 sides). We had brisket, jerk chicken, beef cheek and pork ribs. The brisket and jerk chicken were really good. The brisket was nicely smoked and just fell apart. The chicken was really good, normally I don't care for jerk but this I liked allot. We didn't care for the beef cheek, but we never had it before. It was flavorful and smoky; not our cup of tea though. Ribs were good too.
The sides were good as well. We had the corn bread and mashed potatoes. The potatoes could have used some more gravy I think. The corn bread was delicious.
Also the staff was nice and attentive. One of the cooks asked what we thought of the meats and how they compare to American bbq so we chatted a bit about that.
Followed our nose from the car park! Great pulled pork. Close to the taste of home. Decent Mac and cheese and I love the skillet corn bread. Will be back to try the brisket. Always great to support fellow pitmasters.
Fireworks Smokehouse lived up to the hype. Great service and even better food. Best brisket I've ever had and the mac n cheese was amazing. Such a great experience. Highly recommend.
Consistently the best Texas brisket in town. Ask for "moist" if averse to the lean side. Large and excellent mashed, great cornbread, good slaw, beans overly sweet. Surprise, the Lunchbox is available for dinner - best deal. Enjoy
American southern style low and slow Barbecue in the heart of Auckland city. If anything nothing makes it more southern style then being further south of where this traditional style of cooking comes from. Fireworks price range is pretty decent for the city and still with a high quality of standard. Totally recommend
