Nice place to stop by and grab a cup of coffee.. desserts are superb.. service is awesome..
First time but will definitely revisit. :)
Un lugar digno de una italiana, acogedor y muy agradable. Su dueña es muy divertida
Great food great service :)one of the best pizzas in city :)
Simply amazing! Both the food and service are great. Maria and Yuli always make sure you feel at home at Romani Cafe!
The place has great Pizza, but a little congested seating. We tried a Salmon Pizza and it was fantastic. The crust was thin and it was very well cooked. The chilli oil was exactly as spicy as I wanted it to be, i.e. not too much but just enough to tickle your tongue with flavour.
Pizza was delicious and the owners were so kind đđ„°
Will definitely be visiting this place again !
Good home-style and hearty pizza and pasta. Lots of love has gone into the food. Ambience and service both were lovely and cosy, very homely.
A real cozy place to eat at, especially in the evening, on a very peaceful Fort Street. Personally I had only tried the pasta there, but can certainly vouch for it being one of the best I've had. A must-visit for all lovers of Italian!
Best Italian food in Auckland and my favorite restaurant. What can I say about this amazing place? You go there once and then you feel part of the family already, so I feel biased! Amazing staff, warm and cozy, not pretentious. Amazing pizzas, pastas, lasagna, tiramisu. BYO available. Been there many times and tried different pastas and pizzas. With friends or family, it is always great.
Those trademark Italian pizza are just simply ok point no extras like cheesy crust and all that
Just your simple and best authentic pizza.
Do give it a try if you like pizza you will definitely love this place
Best vegetarian pizza I ever had in Auckland. Amazing pasta. The lady at the counter is very friendly and polite. Highly recommended. Fallen in love with the people and food here â€ïž
One of the best pizzas in Auckland. Bit pricy though but I just love the taste. The owner is a very sweet lady and likes to serve fresh handmade pizzas.
Romani Cafe is my all time favourite restaurant! I'm a huge lover of the Italian cousine! I've lived in New Zealand for 4 years now, and haven't found ANYTHING like the pasta and pizza at Romani! The place is quiet, cozy, beautiful and the staff are absolutely incredible!!! 100% recommend!!!!!
nice quiet little place, my son really enjoyed his cheese pizza. But the Fanta was very overpriced at $6.50 for 330ml ! Oherwise I would have given a 5*, service was friendly.
Romani CafĂ© is a cozy restaurant with a friendly staff and fantastic food. I totally recommended the pesto pasta and Pollo pizza. For dessert, the tiramisu is the best. Lovely place and nice staff đ.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Auckland. Their staff make you feel welcome and like part of the family. I recommend any pizza or pasta on the menu. The prices are good for the quality and amount of food you get. Highly recommend!
The best italian food in the city! I fully recommend any of the pastas in the menu, their creamy sauce is really tasty! Their service is great and fast, they are always warm and with a big smile to serve you. The dishes have a fair size compared to their price, they're not expensive at all. Don't forget to order a nice dessert before you leave: The tiramisu is yummy!!!
I really enjoyed Romani Cafe. The ambient is very cozy with really good service, their pizza it's not the regular fast-food pizza, but instead very tasteful with nice ingredients. I recommend 100% the Pollo Pizza, with chicken and avocado. Very good!!!
This is great little place for a good vibe and environment. Come along with a book and you will definitely enjoy the food with a glass of wine. The food is great, not diverse, but everything they offer is delicious, especially the desserts. Â And the service is very welcoming and nice. My favorite would be any of the Pizzas and the lasagna.
I was here some days ago and i want to tell you my experience.
The restaurant is small but is really cozy! And its owners give us a friendly welcome, they make me feel like home.
Me and my boyfriend ate an amazing pasta . I took vegetarin lasagna and my friend the bolognese .
There are some desserts and we tried the tiramisu. It was amazing fully recommended .
Come here and enjoy it
I love this place. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
My favourite are pasta sorrentina and lasagna.Â
I am always feeling at home.
âRomani Cafeâ is a small cafe in the city, but for me itâs home. It has small cramped seating decorated with italian table cloths, carefully placed salt and pepper shakers, bright orange walls, a teeny tiny kitchen and an aesthetically pleasing and well stacked soda fridge.Â
The mouth watering smell of pizza as you walk in invigorates your senses and will have you drooling within seconds. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with big bright smiles and service so nice it's almost like being at home! Not to mention the food is absolutely incredible, my personal favourite being the lasagna, the best part is  that it's all very affordable! While it does look like a very small space the seating was arranged to form bigger tables for an event that I was hosting. Overall an amazing place and would recommend to anyone wanting authentic Italian food!
I feel that some of the zomato reviews have hyped this place up too much. I wasn't blown away by the food, but I would be open to returning and trying something different.
I chose to add meat to my pesto pasta for $3 extra. Found the pesto a bit salty at times. Comes with grilled toast (2 slices). Didn't look very pretty; a lot lighter in colour and thicker in texture than what I expected, but it still tasted okay. Fairly big portion but some bits of chicken were a bit dry â I suspect they used breast not thigh. Not sure it was worth it.
Chicken avocado pizza was quite big. The avocado didn't taste as fresh as it looked - maybe because it was baked under the cheese.
Service was lovely from beginning to end; friendly smiles and lots of personality. However, we did end up having to get our own water as the staff seemed to have forgotten about it.
The restaurant is very small. It wouldn't be good for groups; they only have tables for two.
Romani Cafe is like home. You feel like your Nona is making this amazing and delicious food. You can order any kind of pizza they are DELICIOUS đ and the pasta too. They have good coffee and beautiful desserts đš.
The place is very homely and super clean. The people are very friendly and Maria is the best Italian chef in town. I love her and this place. I full recommend đđ»

A homely abode amongst the ruckus, Romani stands oddly on the newly fashionable Fort Street. Sporting bright Crayola colours, there is a strong feeling of warmth that resembles what one would experience when visiting your grandma's kitchen.
The layout of the restaurant is quite limited so it's not great for big groups, but perfect for intimate occasions or groups of 3-4. We ordered the Pollo Pizza, Chicken Cancun, pesto pasta, Alfredo and the mushroom pasta. It was more than enough food for our group of 4 but only came up to around $25 a person.
In terms of quality, I would say that the food was homely and wholesome. They really layer the cheese in the pastas which I guess can be good or bad depending on your taste buds. Our favourites were the pizzas: there was plenty of toppings and the sauces were delightful.
Showstopper: Splendid pizzas and great service!
Overall grade: B+
I love this place, the food is well served and really tasty. The lasagna is my favorite, and you have to try the tiramisu. You can't find a better tiramisu than this!
Tucked away in Fort Street is this little Italian gem.
From the moment you walked in, you will be attracted by the romantic and intimate ambience. The red checked table cloths and the photos on the wall, everything about the place will make you feel at home.
The service was beyond friendly and attentive. However the showstopper was definitely the food. Oh the food. The sauce was cheesy, creamy, and flavorful. The pasta was homemade (you get a choice between spaghetti, fettuccine, and penne), which had an amazing texture, and was cooked al dente. The portion size was so generous that my sister got full half way through the food and had to takeaway. Definitely the ultimate comfort food. Even the homemade bread that came with the pasta was scrumptious.
Thee pizza had traditional thin crispy base, and was loaded with cheese. It was so good that just the plain garlic & butter flavoured one was heavenly.Â
All in all this is no question one of the heartiest Italian food I've had in Auckland. The price was super reasonable too. Already can't wait to come back to try their other pasta and pizzas.
I was looking around in town for a place to have lunch and for a hunch I decide to grab a bite here.I decide to order the Lasagne and my hunch was right as I can say that it was awesome, really good portion and you get for what you are paying for. Also I strongly suggest you to try their pizza, so far the best Italian pizza in town, thin and crispy base and generous toppings.
I decided to try this place as I was looking for either some pizza or pasta and couldnât remember where in Auckland in the central area Iâd visited before for pizza (it was good).Â
The interior immediately presented a welcoming and homely aspect. I liked the clean and very creative set-up. The space wasnât very large and the seating could be a little cramped but it still delivered a good overall feeling.
The pizza was very pleasing. It had a thin base and a very soft creamy texture on top with an appropriate amount of seasoning. It also seemed very light. It wasnât exactly a Supreme but as close a version as the restaurant offers.Â
Service was very friendly and welcoming and overall it was a very good place for pizza.
Small cafe tucked in a small area in Front Street. I was walking around trying to get out of the rain and cold and ran into this place. The service was great and the food amazing! I had the panino and it was so good. They make it right in front of you so you know it's fresh, and the presentation is beautiful. Highly recommended.
This is by far my favorite little restaurant in Auckland. It is a quiet little place where the staff make you feel welcome and like part of the family, the food is wonderful and so filling, I can never finish it all, it is a great price for the quality and amount of food you get. The vegetarian lasagna is wonderful if not a bit too cheesy and the lovely lady who works there was able to leave out any ingredients I am allergic to. It is a cozy place to spend a nice evening and would recommend it as a place to take your partner for a nice quiet dinner. Lovely place and lovely staff. 10/10 would go there any day :-)
Been there with friends, cozy little restaurant with friendly waitresses and amazing food.
Love the little cheesecakes they have just yummy. Only downside is that you have to pay for car parking around that area.
But definitely visit it's worth it.
I been there only once and like a year ago. That late evening it was such a heavy rain outside and we were desperately running through the street searching for a warm place to run into and wait for a rain to finish.
So, we got to Romani Cafe.
It is so tiny, but cosy place. Where all over the walls are pics with staff and guests - feeling like a family place, tees, souvenirs... Like a small cafe somewhere in Italy... Except us there was only one more couple and place was so quiet. I loved it. We decided on Hawaiian pizza and hot chocolates - and it was delicious.
You feel peaceful there. We did not get too much attention from the staff, except taking and bringing the order. But maybe it was for the best actually - then we could chat and listen to the loud-loud rain.
Nice place, I'd recommend you to check it out.
Romani Cafe is a tiny venue located at Fort street just a few meters away from two other pizzerias so the competition is tense. It's a real Italian place with the lady chef (and likely owner in one) chatting in Italian to guests and a kitchen helper. The venue is not a 3 or 4 star restaurant that you would invite your in-laws to but that's not what you expect when getting a decent Italian pizza. I ordered a Salami with extra chili and it was ready within 15 minutes. The dough and crust had the same super thin thickness most likely without any amount of yeast and the texture was somewhat close to French pastry. Some people might be surprised but then again every Italian pizza is different depending on the grandma's recipe brought from Italy by various chefs. I enjoyed the pizza, the flavors, the freshly made tomato sauce and excellent quality mozzarella. The salami was a weird kind of pepperoni that was nice but I wouldn't put this specific type on any pizza as it did not have enough fat in it to melt out and add that typical flavor to the pizza topping.
The espresso to clean my taste buds was excellent and the overall experience pretty nice. The tiny location and interior might not suit everybody but that's a matter of preference. If you're there after the food you will be just fine.
Lovely cafe for nice italian food. Really liked the food espicially pasta. Tastes fresh and beautiful flavours combined together. Its a pleasent place.
Romani CafĂ© is one of Aucklandâs best little hidden gems. Their food is all fully homemade and Italian. Theyâre healthy too! Because they use a lot of olive oil. Romani serves some of the nicest pizzas in the city. My friends and I ordered Margherita and Hawaiian. It was ready in fifteen minutes!
The pizzas were greasy and loaded with mozzarella cheese, ham, pineapple and tomatoes. The base was crispy but chewy under the cheese. I havenât tried the pasta yet but it looked really good. And can I just say how beautiful this place is! Its really tiny and exotic. Their tables are wooden and covered with plastic table cloths. The walls are covered with Italian posters for atmosphere.
Best mocha i had in all of auckland. Pity she isn't open for my early starts but would highly recommend. fantastic friendly service too - she was more than happy to have a chat while making the coffee
If you are ever in central Auckland and feeling hungry, this IS the place to visit. Don't know where to begin, amazing flavoursome food! Friendly always happy staff and amazing prices! Looking for a traditional Italian pizza, try le Vera! Yum!! This place so much better than any other! Restaurant or take away, hands down 11/10!!

I felt an awesome family vibe from this cozy lil place. The service was awesome, the food was super yummy!!! have put this as one my regular places to dine at.
This restaurant is a cozy place in which we can stay for some time and have wonderful mealssnacks. I do recommend this restaurant for everyone who is in Auckland for several reasons. Its location is very convenient due to it is close to Queen St. and the owners make the environment really friendly. The menu enconpasses pasta and pizza (both really prepared in original Italian fashion!!!), sandwiches,
panines, Latin America snacks such as enpanadas you can find here as well as several diferent types of cakes.
It is really worth visiting it !!!!
Totally addicted to the pasta here! Friendly staff and amazing food!
Cute lil cafe environment and a great place for a delicious lunch or for takeaway pasta. Good sized portions and so so tasty!!
Havent tried the pizza yet, but looks and smells delicious. Definately well worth a visit!
The food, attention and place are amazing.... best pizzas ever!!! I have been there several times and I can say that the taste of all their food is awesome!!! Totally recommendable to visit for the lovers of the Italian food, and also for the Latin people who miss southamerican food like Feijoadas, Quesadillas, Completos, as Italiano, Empanadas and different sweet things to try.
Awesome place ! I had the best lasagna and I also have tried their incredible fully home made pizza and some of their deserts... super friendly service also. I will become a regular from this cafe for sure!

This place is great! Just had lunch there, and the Alfredo pasta was absolutely delicious as well as the garlic pizza bread. The service was super friendly too. I can't wait to go back! A++
Cosy and Delightful Italian Cafe serving up simple Italian fare, great hearty staff. Prices are reasonable with a good portion of servings, only things I would add is the Tiramisu was abit on the soggier side.
Lovely little cafe, the food was delicious! Very rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Definitely will be coming back here soon.
Lovely hidden spot in the city â€ïžâ€ïžđ yummy lasagna!
Popped in for dinner, as its close to our hostel and has good ratings. The food (Chicken and Tomato Pasta) was delicious: simple and bright, and tasted like a homecooked meal. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever eaten. The staff are sweet and attentive, and I can see why this restaurant has great reviews. Bad reviews about the food being reheated don't make sense to me, everything was cooked in front of us and piping hot. My only qualm is that I wish the prices were updated. đ
We really liked the pizza that we ordered! Lots of toppings and the crust was nice and tasty as well.
All I can say is that everything is superb. The food makes you feel like your mom or grandmother cooked it. It has that homecooked feeling. Ingredients are fresh, and the portions are big. My friend and I went home full and satisfied. The service is excellent. It is a small restaurant, but do not let that stop you from dining there. Will surely come back.
My expectations were not high... and this really surprised me! We ordered a veggie pizza and it was so tasty! Thank you very much girls, you were the best <3
All was very good for us, lasagna, salad, brushetta, the 2 women were friendly and kind.
Words cannot express how incredible this place is. The food is delicious, and the owners are beautiful.
They treated us like family and just made our holiday incredible. I'm telling everyone possible about this place!!!
The most authentic pizza place in the area. Definitely recommend!
On a freezing cold day, i needed a quick coffee and somewhere out of the wind. I had a gorgeous latte and was served by the loveliest staff. Will definitely bring my friends back to try the food because everything smelled so good and it felt so welcoming and homely!
Lovely staff and great food! Wanted to come here for a while after I saw a video about this place on social media and now that I visited Auckland I was happy to see it was opened.
Good home-style and hearty pizza and pasta. Lots of love has gone into the food. Ambience and service both were lovely and cosy, very homely.
Empecible service!, really nice and flavourful food that's homemade and authentic. Would definitely comeback again, only negative/suggestion would be to sever the lasagne on a plate not in a metal dish đđ. Good money fir your buck.
What a hidden gem.. everything was delicious and the owner was so lovely. We canât wait to come back.
