We enjoyed the build your platter with a drink. The food was fresh and tasty and there was a generous serving on the board. The only downside was the lack of choice for non-alcoholic drinks.
We went here on the last day of the year. A bit packed but waiting time wasn’t too long. Friendly service. We ordered the platter and duck salad. 10 choices for a big platter was quite a good choice. The pork rib was awesome! However, the duck salad was a big disappointment. We barely saw any duck, plus it was tasteless.
Good pub food but was one of the best pub food restaurants 5+ years ago when it hummed as Queens Ferry, it was hard to get a table at lunch time back then. All beef and lamb based dishes are still on point and a good bet...
We were in the mid city for a meeting the other day and decided to lunch at The Lobby which is housed in the old Queens Ferry building. We were warmly greeted and seated outside in Vulcan Lane. We ordered a Saw Mill Pilsner and Pale Ale, the Nachos and a side of fries to share. The beers were both complex in different ways and refreshing. The Nachos had pulled beef, tomatoes, refried beans, jalapeños and sour cream on a heap of corn chips - the serving was deliciously tasty and enormous! The Nachos are advertised as for 2 to share, but this quantity could be easily shared by 3 or more - certainly too much for us two and we ended up taking home a 'doggy bag'. The fries were also very good, light and crispy. This is a very good venue to share a craft beer and good value food.
Stopped by for dinner and drinks.
The first thing I noticed was the myriad of plants hanging from the ceiling. The restaurant was quite bright so it was quite nice.
Tried the crispy duck burger since I was intrigued with it. The burger was nice but it wasn't crispy. Nice amount of shredded duck but I thought a bit more slaw would've been nice.
Overall it was quite a nice place and the menu did have a few things to choose from. The service was really good.
Where To Next Auckland

The Lobby is a cool little bar in the heart of Vulcan Lane. Great atmosphere, an awesome and varied selection of food.. that's always great! The staff are incredibly friendly and always welcoming! Perfect place to grab a bite to eat and a glass of wine while you're in town! Our pick? Try their meatball sub!! They make it with Garlic Bread.... genius!!!
Great atmosphere here. The nachoes are the best in town. Made from pulled meat over the usual of mince!! They had a nice kick too. Paul had the pasta and cleaned the plate. The waiter was great and very patient with us as we took a while to order. Everything came out quickly and all together so we shared some lovely dishes, will be returning soon I hope!
Into the Queen St precinct for dinner after wandering around wet and cool Auckland. Vego options weren't jumping out at us as we walked towards the harbour.
We looked up Vulcan Lane and found The Lobby in the throes of closing up. The kitchen was still going so the limited Vego menu was perused. We settled on a shared Pumpkin Risotto and Cheesy Garlic bread.
In no time at all the food arrived. Great portion size and really tasty. Just the thing after a full day wandering around.
Friendly service, location, ambience and price world's well. Definitely worth a look if you're in that part of the world.
The ambience was great. Very lively, yet chilled and relaxed for good conversation. We were served by the nicest staff and they were very patient as they talked us through the menu. I tried the shrubs for the first time and i was plesantly surprised. My friend ordered the tuna which she loved and I got the chicken with Thai influences. We were both really happy with the food, the portion sizes and the presentation was top notch.
Would definitely go back to this place!
