Well ranged menu with lots of vegetarian options. Pizza and share plates are great to soak up the wine and beer! Large outdoor area with a nice atmosphere. A regular of ours for a casual drink and bite to eat.
Great food, great hospitality and lovely drinks. We had a wonderful experience!!!
Excellent venue for our event - 40+ people. Plenty of seating to accommodate those who could not stand for long periods. Our hostess was great at helping us to set up. Relaxed, great service, nice food.
We hosted a function here recently and it was such a great success.Ā Great event management, great staff, great food.Ā Really happy with Sweat Shop.
Hosted a small event at Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen in Auckland, and it was great!Ā Very helpful staff, who were attentive and professional!Ā Very impressed!Ā Will definitely be back!
We held an event here for 200+ people. The staff were EXTREMELY helpful and accommodating. They created bespoke drinks and food menus, dietary tables, managed a drinks token system for us, and were just generally friendly and cool. The food and beer was great too (think high end pub food)! Highly recommend for your next function!!!!
Good craft beers, food vibes and a big variety of food!Ā Staff are really good when looking for recommendations! Would recommend!!
Always have a good time when we go here for work events. The food is great, good size portions, the fried chicken is a must. They have a great selection of in house beers, the favorite this time was the ipa. I'm sure we will be back there soon. Cheers guys
I recently organised a 21st birthday at Sweatshop Brew Kitchen. This was the best decision I made, as everything went so smoothly! Not only was the food extremely good (pizzas were very popular), the staff were very accommodating and friendly, allowing the best service I could ask for. In addition, the event planning went perfectly due to the efforts of the very committed events manager. The tap beer was popular by many of my guests as well. I would definitely love to return again.
Really enjoyed my evening here as the service was great, music was good and not overly loud for a Tuesday night, food came out quickly and was pretty flavoursome and presented nicely. The drinks selection was pretty good and came out nice and cold and the general ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. Only downside was minimal parking, but with City Works Depot right next door not impossible to just walk across.
We had our work Function here, about 60 team members.Ā The process of booking an event with Sweat Shop was super easy! The event manager made everything very simple and was so organised.Ā
We were able to have the night the way we wanted it and instead of having to stick to a strict set menu, we were able to pre-order 60 individual meals from there regular menu. Not a lot of dinner venues can cater to 60 people without a set menu, but Sweat Shop could which is one of the reasons we went with them.Ā We didn't want an overly corporate, long table, sit down dinner vibe - the way the area was set up was perfect for us.Ā
We had the boutique brewery and barber shop area closed off for us our team for most of the night, they had even gone to the trouble of putting up a light box sign for us. We had our own bar tender who was great, super funny, efficient, focused and fast. Amazing vibes, great ambiance, fun pool table / a beer pong table as well (how cool) also, good music! The Live band was so talented and we definitely all enjoyed a good dance.Ā The service is the best I have had in a long time, and I am defiantly not one to compliment customer service in restaurants in Auckland often, so I was shocked and happy with the service here because of how great it was. Dinner and Drinks all affordable.Ā
Highly recommend for work functions / drinks with a bunch of friends!
Absolutely loved this place!!! Amazing vibes, great ambience, good music and decent number of staff so you never get left out. Such a good time here tonight didnt even get a decent pic!
Came here with my work mates and man I cant believe I still havent been here even though it's like a 2 min walk from my work place.
Service is standard and the drinks are surprisingly cheap. Tiger beer was like 10 bucks which is pre good. Definitely gonna come here again for sure!!
We recently held an all day meeting at Sweatshop Brew Kitchen and I have nothing but praise for the Food and Service. Ā Nothing was a problem, and the food was beautiful. Ā I would recommend Sweatshop, and we will definitely be back for a meeting or event in the future
We recently had our Wrap Party here at Sweat Shot Brew Kitchen, which was a great venue for such a large number of people 300-400. I really like the indoor and outdoor area's, both large, offering lots of options for people, the DJ was great, the food was great, and the bar staff were really respectful of our crew, and they handled our crew really well especially in the early hours of the morning. So thanks for a great night!
This pl is fantastic for a chill catch up over some good food. This pl is a must visit when in Auckland. It is a awesome funky space and offers a massive variety of food & drinks. The craft beer flight is the only let down I experienced but everything else was amazing. Recommend the platter, the pork belly bites finished off with the dessert pizza šš½
The portions,the taste,the service šš¼
We have been to Sweat Shop for so many times. Absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Sweat Shop!!! The best place to gather friends and family. Nice live music tooā¤ļø
Really enjoyed my night here, the food is really good and all of the staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the pizzas and fries!! Would definitely recommend Sweat shop!
the food here is absolutely to die for! the fried chicken and dumplings are divine. had my 21st here and everyone was amazing - especially the bouncers, looking after us. food was glorious, will be back 46756757 more times.
The best bar to dance and drink
Good vibe
The house tap beer is cheap.
Every friday, they have live music. Amazing!š
Next time i will try the food as well!

Great outdoor seatings, delicious food, reasonable price and staff are friendly. We came here on Sunday lunch time. Hardly anyone around. Got their beef brisket and ribs set. Pita bread, homemade and crunchy on the outside soft inside. Love their beer tastings. Tried their blueberry beer. What a star! They also do rewards systems. So worth the money. Perfect outings for big group.
Sweat shop brew kitchen has been our regular hangout place to chill. Good ambience, amazing food, friendly staff and awesome live band! Every time when we try new dishes, weāre like omg so dang good. Love this place very!!
Thanks for making my birthday so easy and enjoyable. Everything went off without a hitch thanks to the excellent staff so I could just relax and enjoy my night.Ā Thanks so much.Ā Will definitely be back.
drinks here are the best. Good vibes always. The live band, food, drinks, customer service is consistent each week. Would defs recommend coming on Friday nights to catch the live band.
Been there many times, food is consistently good as well as service.
I had been overcharged once and they were able to solve the problem quickly while being thorough which made me love them even more.
I was doing a last minute birthday booking (as a surprise) and Mark was able to accommodate for 20 + guests in a really cute space in no time!! I had requested for music to be played through the night and the Djs did not disappoint ! Overall, everyone had a great time. Easily the best place to go if you're into Hip Hip and R&B.Ā Best to go on a Friday and Saturday with friends to party!Ā Really great ambience, the food was good too!!! Strongly recommend as guaranteed to have one enjoyable night!!Ā Great for hosting events or just grabbing a cheeky drink on a night out as you will find yourself stay for longer than you anticipated. Great vibes!!!
Spacious! Is the first thing I remarked. A nice place with some good vibes. Their menu was really good and the food was too. Service was the usual standard. Overall a good place to catch up with the team.
Had good time u sweat shop brew kitchen. View is always nice there:) it is nice place to have a party with friends:) if i have a something to celebrate, i would come here:)
We hosted a private event in the rear of the bar, situated near the barbershop.Ā
We had a great time! I think we should have removed the pool table from the area we had booked in hindsight, as it did make it a little awkward for our guests to interact with one another, but with regard to the staff attentiveness and service ā it was great! Because we were so well taken care of by the Event Manager, I can only say that it was great value for money, with a couple of our guests even taking advantage of the barber + beer deal before the event started. Food was great and plentiful.
Family birthday, pizza was great drinks were great and the music was great. Everyone getting lit on a saturday night so it was awesome especially for our age group lol
Jazz and Jesse were the best bartenders Iāve ever had!! So friendly and so helpful! So welcoming as well. Really good service! This was at Bayleeās 21st and I couldnāt have put a better team on! Their personalities were the best Iāve come across and Iāve worked in hospo before! Seriously such a good experience and nothing that should be overlooked!
We recently had our work function at Sweat Shop Brew and had an amazing night. Food was great, service was outstanding and the team loved the lively atmosphere. Will definitely be going back again very soon :)
Nice place to come for a Friday night for a few drinks. Others ordered food which also looks very good! They have a beautiful outdoor terrace from where you can look out over Auckland and from 10pm there played a live band. Great athmosphere but does get a bit crowded.
Turned up late for a ādinnerā that was more like drinks due to my brother inlaw not finding out the correct details anyway the kitchen was closed but we could still order from a late night menu and ordered the āAmerican Pepperoni Pizzaā and it was so delicious one the best pizzas Iāve ever had and we ordered the chips with aioli was very satisfied! Will definitely be coming back for dinner from the main menu next time.
Sweat Shop is a great place to celebrate any event! All events that I have held here have been amazing and well organised with Mark, Theresa and the team helping us with all our questions and ensuring the night ran smoothly. We have had events with up to 200 people and the outdoor area is the perfect place especially on summer nights. The team are always friendly and give exceptional service. Food is delicious and have many options for people who are gluten intolerant as well as good pricing for the large serving sizes. I highly recommend Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen even if its just for a beer and pizza on a sunday afternoon!
Tonight we had a birthday reservation for a group of eleven. We were greeted by happy bubbly staff and seated at a nice table. Drinks and entrees were offered straight away and service was nice and fast. The waitress was attentive and returned to our table often to clear and offer more drinks. The male bartender (possibly DM) had great drink recommendations and perfect pours! The drinks were a perfect compliment the the incredible sharing platters we chose to order. Meat was well smoked served hot with perfect condiments to match. Overall it was an amazing experience and all of us will be back!! Thanks sweatshop you are my favourite barworks venue and I will be back to enjoy again soon šš¼
Better late than never when it comes to this place for a review. From celebrating number of birthdays to having a baby shower of a friend here, this place has made a significant place in our life in Auckland. The open air area is beautiful, even more when sun sets. The food is delicious and desserts are lip smacking beautiful. Drinks are reasonably priced and does justice to the quality. The service is impeccable with personal touch and pleasant vibe. Keep coming back :)
To. Die. For.
The food here was very hearty. This would be my second time going here and I ordered the fish and chips with a side of tartar sauce and Iāve never been so satisfied with fish and chips in my life, the portions are huge! I could barely finish the plate of fish and chips myself! We also ordered a deep dish pizza which was juicy and crispy! With a side of kumara fries served with chipotle. Service was spectacular! Waitresses were very friendly!
I love my American bbq, came hete for lunch and decided on the tower toastie which is sourdough, smoked brisket, smoked gouda, swiss cheese, pickle and IPA mustard.
The brisket was quite tasty and the combination of the cheese and mustard was spot on but I think the bread they use is a mistake. It was overly dry and not the sourdough I'm used to and more like a normal sliced bread.
I think next time I will rather have the brisketon its own than in a sandwich.
My friend had Crispy fried buttermilk chicken with salad and blue cheese.Ā I am not a blue cheese person.Ā Indeed the smell was overwhelming.Ā I could sort of ātasteā it even though I was just sitting next to it (certainly not eating it).Ā Perhaps we should have ordered the Crispy fried buttermilk chicken on its own instead as they certainly offer that dish in the menu or replace the blue cheese with some other cheese.Ā I thought the salad was a bit dry too.
Best drinks and live music!! Been a few times and wanted to try out dinner. I had the chicken waffles, it had great flavours and very tasty but the waffle was half cooked and more like pancakes. My partners pizza was tasty also and great size for sharing. Food is so so but the atmosphere and decor is on point!!
Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen is an inner city brewery that does things differently than many breweries weāve visited, its name deriving from the buildingās former life as the factory of New Zealand clothing manufacturer, Ross & Glendining.
Been twice for work functions.. very nice.. steal meal with mushrooms was nicely done. Little pricey
Most impressive is the decor and views.. one of the functions was live entertainment n that was epic.
We came here for fathers day meal and the food was OK. We had pizza and the pork belly. It was pretty average. The pizza was a good size though.
I decided to take my cousin from Oz for dinner and I suggested this place. She's never heard of this place so when i mentioned we were going to Sweat Shop she thought we were actually going to a sweat shop.
One of the lovely waitresses served my cousin and I, gave us a deal we couldnt refuse (entree + main or main + dessert and of course a wine) for $40. We ordered the Main which was the lamb rump, baby carrots and yams and the dessert. We loved everything you brought to us and we appreciate good food. Very generous on the dessert which is also a plus. The vibe was fun and friendly.
I recommended to my gf's to eat here and i guess we'll be making another booking shortly :)
awesome place to eat, really cosy. tried the deep dish pizza im not a fan of cheese but it was really good melt in your mouth. also ordered a platter with bbq ribs, brisket, smoked chicken breast, pulled pork all of the above were delicious!! awesome customer service.
Stopped by to watch an all blacks game in the outdoor area. The place was quite large, large dining area, outdoor area as well as an area around the back which looks like its for private functions.
They have a few different beers on offer that they brew themselves. Quite nice place. Their pizza also looked alright.
Looks like a nice place to eat but beware that they switch to a club at 9pm (it was a saturday when we went).
Great place, great vibe and atmosphere. I had my 21st birthday here and the staff were all amazing and super helpful with selecting perfect party food and the bar tab. Everyone loved it
Had the steak salad, and sold by the waitresses pitch on the promoted wine. Wine pour was under an average glass size for the "large" serving and wasn't fab. Steak salad was pretty good overall, would have applied another half star but the beer onion was nowhere to be found, and I love onions :(
When in Auckland you will catch me here every Friday for dinner and drinks.
Food it's great!
Live music is excellent - one of the best bands in Auckland.
I overall love this place. The food was amazing. Staff were great. The chef did superb. š The meat is beautifully slow cooked and just slips off the bone. The platters are disgustingly delicious. Their food definitely had me dancing in my seat that day. Would highly recommend.
This place tends to change their menu from time to time, but I guess it makes it all that much merrier to visit more than often.
Beautiful outdoor and indoor area with their own brewing station inside. A barbers...yes! You heard me. A barbers right behind their bar.
The food here is incredible. All I can say is order the deep dish Chicago pizza + polenta fries . You will die of yumminess. Yes the vibe is also super great, and the table tennis table is life .
Went there on Saturday afternoon for the first time, great to sit out in the sun (whilst it was here), awesome craft beer selection and loved the smoked meat platter. Ā Highly recommended.
I absolutely love this place. Been here for one of my work awards function about a year back and for a quick burger, snack or a drink once now and then.
Amazing place for a catch-up with friends or an informal work meet. Always had great service, food and ambience here.
No wonder me and my friends keep going back here.
I am a big fan of the Chicago deep dish pizza! I get it every time I come here for lunch. Drinks are reasonably priced. I've tried the fish and chips, pork ribs, fries, kumara chips and popcorn prawns - all delicious and filling. Entertainment is the best thing about this place.
Great spot, food and service always top notch - love the on-site brewed beers will definitely be returning and bringing my mates, they also have awesome live music on the weekends!
Went here for a lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the pizza! We ordered the California Deep Dish and it was amazing sauce was very creamy and rich and the meatballs were delicious. Although there was a bit of aftermath from a busy Friday night operating as a bar, the place stunk of alcohol and there was broken glass on the outdoor tables. This is understandable as it is a bar as well, but perhaps they could put more effort into cleaning up!
We visited Sweat Shop after leaving Taste of Auckland in a supremely unsatisfied, bummed-out, wet, cold and still very hungry state.
We loved everything about this hangout...the laid-back atmosphere, heaters on the patio, delicious thin-base pizza and the beer. Oh, and Sweat Shop? Coolest name ever!
Will definitely be returning on our next visit to Auckland.Ā

Ideal location for a nice lunch with some friends, I really like the set up they have here. The menu has plenty of choices, I chose the smoked beef brisket burger yum! Would recommend ordering a side with a friend.
Came here years ago when it was Sale St Brewrey, just called in 4 an ale today, Sweat Shop Brew on tap, APA 6%, $5 for 300mls. Cool warehouse feel with distillery in corner, outside seating area & stage inside for a band.
Visited there for NZ's first annual hot sauce festival. Ordered one Crispy Milkbutter Chicken for $17.50 Crispy outside and juicy inside. Taste was good. But the serving size was not very satisfactory.
Great place to grab a drink with your friends. They have DJ/live music, great selection of wine and beer. Friendly staff and serves great pizza.
After being told many many times I had to try the food here I convinced myself it was something I had to put on my to do list. The staff were a little distant and we had to wait a good 10 minutes to get seated as well as having to ask to be seated - no greeting essentially. Aside from this the experience was great and no issues apart from at the beginning! The food is beautifully done and the meat was smoked to perfection šš Also get a cocktail from here if you are into that sort of thing - best cocktail in the city!
Ordered Jack Daniels Smoked Chicken $19 special meal on a busy Friday night just before 9pm.Ā
Mac cheese was well done however chicken was chewy and not succulent! But go figure probably just a miss as my friends chicken was very good. Food was placed on a massive tray and when 3 trays came to our table it felt like we were in a camp or something! Hilarious. Innovative. Very filling.
Had a panna cotta dessert which I will not have again for what it's worth: $11 for something very small and fruit looked from a can and not fresh. Perhaps because I ordered after 9 30pm...Ā
Not much to say but had a great experience as a live band performed later that night. This is a place bustling with awesome music and lots of people. Great place for a friday night. I would recommend having dinner earlier before 8pm otherwise music by the DJ overkills your conversation if you eat inside. Otherwise eat outside! It's warm outside not to worry my friend :)
Service is great. Despite busy the girls who served us know how to work well under pressure and are attentive.
Came in a couple of Wednesday's ago during the day with a friend, the service was on point and the food was amazing. Anthea was our waitress and she was so lovely and attentive. All in all it was a great experience :) thanks guys.
Been here a few times over the last year really like the atmosphere, staff attitude, in house brewed craft beers and food, well done will definately be returning. :-)
Dined on a Monday night when it was rather quiet. The waitress was excellent, clearly explained they have a new menu and the specials of the night. The food and drinks were rather slow to come to the table given how few people were there. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which turned out to be on open sandwich and came with free fries on the night. It was a great deal but the sandwich wasn't as great, I would have been disappointed to pay full price for it. Definitely check out the specials of the night if you are dining here.
Have been in a few times, overall good. Some good service, some average. Food is generally good, especially their pizzas. Went in on NYE, surprisingly good, considering how busy it was- we had reserved a table and that made all the difference- staff were lovely despite it being THAT night. I had the steak sandwich, it was a bit average- not worth the money, meat was a strange cut- the muscle strands were cut longways, meaning that it was quite chewy, and not very much of it. We also had a few cocktails, really nice.
Came here because a friend recommended it. We ordered:
Pork belly set - sooo good! tender meat and crispy crackling
Chimichurri steak set - was okay
Chicago deep dish pizza - can't really call it "deep dish" but still tasted good
+ fries and kumara chips
Not sure if they still have it but when we went they had $19 special on the BBQ meat sets on Thurs/Fri which was very good value.
Came here for a work event and a few other event such as the Admission after party. The outisde area is huge which is great for having a yarn. The food is pretty good here for a bar which is good. This place is expensive for a bar though. Especially one outside of the immediate CBD area.
We went to the Sweat Shop for lunch today and sat outside in the beer garden. Ā I had been there previously for a work lunch and had the fish & chips which were very good, and since then have been looking forward to trying some of the other dishes my workmates had ordered.
We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Smokehouse platter and the deep dish pizza. Ā We also ordered the Sweatshop house-brewed APA which was malty, citrusy and most refreshing.Ā Ā The pork belly came with Mac & cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and flat bread. Ā The pork melted in your mouth and all the supporting items complemented the meat superbly, each adding its own different flavour and texture. Ā The deep dish pizza was full of tasty beef meatballs, tangy tomato and creamy cheeses, and was delicious. Ā We shared the platter and pizza and were stuffed full. Ā We had no room for dessert.
The staff were very good and we were supplied with ample water. Ā This is a very good establishment that offers good and plentiful food at a reasonable price and a range of crafted beers. Ā Very popular both for lunch and after work socialising.
Watched the rugby and I like this place during the day. Great for a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sun, with their pizza deal. Love the fries and bathrooms.
I came here last night for a work function and was very pleased with the service- all staff were very friendly and served with a smile!
We were served a nice selection of tapas of pizzas and I think what were mini taco style things in a range of flavours- which were all delicious.Ā
Decor is really nice with a vintage feel on the inside and I love the outdoor area with a perfect view of the Skytower.Ā
I would definitely return return here to try the food or just for drinks.
Polenta fries are one of my favourite things and these are some of the best I have had. They are great with helping you with beer choices I originally wanted the IPA but they were out so offered me some others to try.
Wonderful place for a casual meal or a function. Big open spaces, interesting food options and presentation. Menu is styled from the southern USA and their smoke-house BBQ ribs were as tender as could be. To serve two we added half a chicken - whoops, it's a big chicken. Enjoyed the great slaw and beans too. Others ordered the pulled pork and the salmon which also went down well. Salmon was also great. Good range of beers and ciders - yes, multiple ciders to choose from - to wash it down with. Recommended.
Sales street on sales street is renamed to Sweat Shop. Don't know why !! It's one of the popular places among my friends to hang out. I have been here at least 10 times but all that was on Saturdays after 8pm. So it's just beer tequila beer tequila beer !! Check out on Saturday evenings..
So I went for a lunch at this place. There are plenty of lunch options like burgers, steaks and salads. Wasn't feeling like having anything heavy,so opted for the chicken salad. I enjoyed the salad. It was fresh, had few crispy bits, there was egg and right portion too.
Staff is always friendly here.
Will I be back again ? Hell yeah.. Definitely on a Saturday night.
Stop by for a bite, a few cocktails, shots. Nice sounds with live Dj. Friendly outdoor bouncer. Huge indoor and outdoor sitting area. Friendly staff behind the bars and the waiters. Start off with shots, Chicken, avocado pizza and kumara chips to start the evening. Cocktails to bang the night. More shots to end the evening. Awesome place.
We could wait to try this new menu and wow it was AMAZING food. Such good lunch specials. Great service. Can't fault it and can't wait to come back. Especially loved the mac n cheese :D
The set up of Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen is so groovy! They've always got the funkiest tunes going on and it's a great place to boogie. I haven't dined here properly but the chips are 10/10. I attended a leaving party here. Service was fast and efficient.
This isn't my first time. It was just as food as my first experience but this mac and cheese with dip is honestly crazy! It's not WOW but its the first one I've tried - EVER. Other than that. Live music is amazing. Impressive - i love live performance. The staff is awesome too. Friendly, outgoing and fun! A great experience.
I've now been here three times and my girlfriends and I have had a delicious meal every time.Ā
The food is delicious and rich. My favourite so far being the open steak sandwhich. In general I feel their prices are a bit on the expensive side for what they're offering, but they are definitely filling. However, they run specials every night of the week I think, which are great value, and make them an option for those eating out on a tight budget.Ā
The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed and casual. My biggest criticism is just the volume. The music is unnecessarily loud and can make conversation difficult, even in the furthest back corner.Ā
I'll definitely be back, and am looking forward to taking my partner to try the smokehouse meals.
Some of best American smokehouse style cooking you will find, period. The smokehouse menu is fantastic value (@27$) given all the sides in accompaniment. Atmosphere is both funky and laid back with a great outdoor deck area. Keeps me coming back@
This menu here is wrong, there's a whole new menu on since almost 1 month (beginning of May 2015) which is absolutely great! Big portions for a really good prize!!!
Went there for Lunch. Waiting staff were friendly, quick and efficient. We went for the Smokehouse menu, which was delicious and a good amount of food for the money. I had the pulled pork shoulder which was tasty and came as a generous serving. The accompaniments were all good too.
Matched it with a house lager. Overall a great meal. Recommended for lunch - make sure you book.
Loved this place!!!! Good service, awesome spicy sauce and very interesting menu!!! Finally, something different. Loved the lentil, beetroot and labneh salad, the garlic bread was a humongous portion and really delicious, the gnocchi was unbelievably good!!! Cant wait to be back :-)

Sweat Shop Brew is the previously named Sale St Bar. Offering a bustling atmosphere with inside and outside seating, its the place to be on a sunny afternoon or for after work drinks.Ā
The newly designed menu is extensive and follows a Southern American theme, with smokehouse menu items. I think this a cool idea as its a little something different. Between the two of us we shared everything - my fav. I think we over ordered a little. The feta and rosemary bread was much bigger than anticipated and i wasn't expecting it on a thin pizza base. It was tasty but i personally prefer pizza bread with a thick, soft, chewy texture. We both loved the popcorn prawns. The flavour was on par and cooked perfectly.Ā
The pulled lamb shoulder muffuletta was actually an accidental menu order. I think we actually ordered the mussels but they had run out, and we saw this amazing bread bowl another diner ordered and we were like ok, we want that. This is a first I've seen in Auckland. The pulled lamb in bread, it was a great concept. I think to be honest its a bit much. just all meat in a bowl but prob a dish a guy would love. It was also served with chips but you can't go too wrong with chips. The meat was cooked perfectly, but i there just needed to be more flavour. Something more exciting to lift it.Ā
What i appreciate is that the menu offers something a bit better than your average bar or pub menu items and has something for everyone. If you don't go for the food, go for the big jugs on offer and the chic interior.Ā

I love the decor at Sweat Shop Brew Bar - it's relaxed, eclectic and loungy inside with more of a Sunday afternoon at the pub vibe happening outside. I came here with my partner for after work drinks and nibbles on Thursday and found it to be reasonably full - clearly it's popular with the after work crowd!
I really enjoyed the mocktails (I highly recommend the Budding Rose, it's all crazy kinds of delicious), and thought that there was a great selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with the bartenders willing to make things not on the menu upon request. We ordered a couple of dishes to nibble on, the salt and lemon pepper squid (delicious and perfectly cooked) and fries (a bar staple, they seem to have been eaten when I wasn't paying attention so I think that means they were pretty good!).
A great location for a few drinks after work or a couple of quiets on a Sunday afternoon.
This venue has spent the last few months with the outdoor deck under construction so I was expecting amazing things, but when I arrived for lunch I was disappointed to see the relaxing central fountain feature had been replaced with rows and rows of picnic park benches. It has gone from elegant and civilised to confined and octoberfesty. The good thing will be that more people can enjoy the deck, (read: extra income for the operator) and it will have more of a buzz, but overall it lacks a bit of charm. Note my comments only apply to the outside area, inside it is still one of the best dressed bar / restaurants in Auckland!Ā I ordered pizza, and whilst it was nice, it didn't compare to the pizzas that were served under the old Sale St moniker. (Bring back the Thai chilli prawn pizza please..... :-) The menu is also a bit tricky for people looking at lunch options, but overall I was pleased with the pleasant service and of course it has a great location..!
Just came back from Sweatshop and had an absolute smashing time (pun intended because I ordered the smash burger š¤Æ). Our server Ross had us feeling very welcome and a blast to talk to. Recommendations are the smash burger, and the Fried chicken (order some aioli sauce with this trust me). Will 1000% be seeing them soon! Thanks team
Great place and there are enough seats for many people.
Food: Great generally with good presentation. Fries are a little disappointing.
Service: Friendly staff and well prepared for the guest. Important things were well informed.
Environment: Great indoor and outdoor option.
The kind of place you want to be on a nice, sunny day. Good selection of beers on tap. Food was spot on. Would definitely return on my next visit to Auckland!
Come here with your friends if you are looking for a pub that sells really good food and has great vibes. I tried a variety of dishes and they were all pretty solid. Definitely worth checking this place out if you are ever in Auckland CBD.
Ordered items:
- Sweat shop platter: š 7.3/10
- Pork belly š 7.5/10
- Jerk chicken (with dirty rice)
- Pepperoni pizza š 7.2
Sweatshop platter (Popcorn prawn, Korean fried chicken, roasted cauliflower, jalapeno rice ball, truffle fries, cheesy garlic pizza bread):
All of the components were executed nicely. I would say my favourite of the bunch was the roasted cauliflower. I loved how it just just jam packed full of spices and flavour , the cauliflower florets were also nicely roasted which provides an amazing crispy texture.
Pork belly (with tamarind glaze cauliflower puree, candied cashews):
The pork belly was not amazingly soft and did require a bit of a bite. However it was definitely not dry or overcooked. The pork was nice and crispy on the outside as they did a really good job with the sear. Pork had a nice smoky and porky flavour which worked really well with the other elements on the plate.

Sweatshop has always been one of my fave venues in city due to the great music and awesome terrace so I decided that Iād pick it for a friends birthday function. We hired out the velvet room and arranged a silent disco and it was class! Perfect space for our crew and the whole experience from initial organising to the execution was amazing! The team on the day were super helpful and my group had the best time! Food was also super yum! Would deffo recommend if anyone else is looking for a space for a party and Iāll 100% be back to enjoy some sunshine on the deck this summer! Thanks guys!
went here for a beers, bites and bikes festival. really cute place!!! had the second most delish burger of my whole life (best in nz for sure) (smash burger) good music, good vibes. cute patio, kind workers.
Popped in two weeks ago for the chicken n waffles event done the first Saturday of the month.
Simple but done really well. The chicken was so tasty, moist and coating just the bees knees!!! The accompanying maple syrup was awesome along with the buttermilk waffles.
If you can, get in there and fill ya boots!!
Sweat Shop as a function venue was a big success. We continue to be impressed by the Joylab group. It is so easy to do an event with them. And, once again, the food was legit!!
Quite surprised by some of the reviews on here. We seriously couldn't fault our night here if we tried our hardest. Started with drinks and went on to order a Meat Sweats Platter, Buttermilk Chicken and Jalapeno Poppers. The service was fast and friendly. A tab was opened for us to keep things simple for ordering. The food arrived rather quickly and made the two of us say wow about 10 times. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for either a drink or a full meal.
Just wanted to share some love for your service yesterday!
Our waitress was so lovely and very accommodating for my low carb lifestyle, even asking if I wanted a side salad and lettuce bun - something I didn't know i could request! Really appreciated her and very thankful š
Had an awesome day, fantastic service and great vibe. Highly recommend the fried chicken, it was crispy and juicy. We will definitely visit again.
The Wagyu beef burger is super juicy and the cheese is melted. One the best burger.
Awesome atmosphere and deck.
We came here for a work function. They catered for 11 of us easily. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the staff are very helpful. It is on the pricey side.
Great time at the Sweat Shop for our company event! We rented out the Velvet Room which is very private and has its own bar, it was perfect for our Murder Mystery Dinner! thanks so much.
Very nice stop while walking around CBD today. Had a flight of your local brewery Pale Ale options. Was quite delighted at the taste of each of them. We also had some of the shrimp appetizer and it was delightful. The servers were pleasant and the group in the courtyard was having a great time. Only wish that you had logoed glass growler's for take away (as they were being used as table markers) instead of the plastic bottles. Even a smaller glass container like you serve water in would look good with your decal on it.
