I love finding small out of the way eateries that serve the best food! This little hidden gem in the heart of Britomart is fantastic. Some of the best Ramen around! Fresh noodles, plentiful portions and the broth...OMG it's good!

The service is quite fast and portion is ok, the soup is not that salty at usual Ramen restaurant. But a little bit lower than my expectation. My friend said it is sooo good but i feel just fine.

This place is small, so the staff will expect you leave once you have finished your food. The deep fried chicken and fried rice were the best and so as tonkotsu ramen. Katsu don was average. Prices are reasonable, it was one of the best ramen places in town.

Best Ramen place! Eating ramen is my favourite pastime during the cold winter season. But I would probably still be coming back to this place even in the summer. The place is not that fancy but it’s clean and staff are nice.

This is also a place that I've been to many times. Today I came here because of #restaurantmonthakl
If you're a small eater, please remember to being your friend.
The tempura was crispy and the dipping sauce is light. I usually avoid teriyaki sauce because it can be too sweet and overpowering but their teriyaki sauce is light and savoury. The meat was tender. The green tea ice cream wasn't too sweet. Service is great as usual.

Sitting inside this place makes one feel like they are in one of those popular Japanese food alleyways in Japan, then again tha's where the best eatery are too. I had the beef stew ramen and enjoyed this dish, sauce a bit thin so may have been half/half of broth/sauce.

Honestly the best ramen place I've been to. I always come to order the curry ramen. It's one of the best ramen they sell. Another time I came in and tried their fried rice. It was really well cooked. So many flavours on one plate. The croquettes were also very creamy and the outter layer was extremely crispy.

Good, authentic Japanese ramen. The portion is really big and it's reasonably priced, so definitely worth the money. The place is quite small and dim, but overall, worth it.

Tucked into the side of a building, only a few metres from the train station is this cosy ramen restaurant. There is little seating available and the fact that the cooking happens right behind the counter means you will soon be sweltering in your jacket. Nevertheless this place is always packed during lunch hour and it's not hard to see why. It's directly opposite the train station and hosts a large menu of delicious filling japanese cuisine, though as the name suggests the restaurant's main focus is their ramen. The portions are large and rich with flavourful salty broth. Although there is a more spacious Daikoku branch further up on Victoria st, ramen daikoku serves the spicy pork belly ramen which comes with thick cubes of slow cooked pork hugged by soft melting fat which sit in the boiling hot broth. A nice place to eat on your own as you can sit at the counter and watch the chef prepare your meal.

After spending a day at Waiheke Island in winter, we wanted to eat something warm and filling for dinner. This ramen bar is exactly what we wanted. My friend had a spicy energy ramen and I got a Tonkutsu ramen. We're both very happy with our choices. As many reviewers have mentioned it, the price and portion are very reasonable. This is the first place I've ever drunk the ramen soup. (I'm a bit picky and don't usually drink the soup as I think it's filled with MSG and other unknown spices)
I will totally come again when I visit Auckland. I imagine many business people who work around city centre/britomart come here for lunch.

Nothing beats a bowl of ramen when it's raining & cold outside. Daikoku ramen has been my one of my favourite ramen bar in the city. It is located next to britomart station.
Portion and price wise is good. Each ramen cost from 9ish and up depending on the kind of toppings you get. Or.... You can get set meal ( ramen + curry rice/beef rice/ takoyaki) for just $15ish.
My favourite is Ramen + Gyuudon (beef served over rice). The Ramen's soup tasted great and the beef rice reminds me of Yoshinoya*(Japanese franchise restaurant selling beef bowl)

Beware: This is a ramen bar, so the staffs expect you to finish your meal, pay up & go. They do not tolerate people sitting down and chatting. They will ask you to leave if it happens so.

Daikoku Ramen in Britomart is a nice place to duck into when you want to escape the winter blues. This cozy little eatery actually offers more than just noodles, as their set menus allow you to mix and match. This was perfect on a winter’s night where it was definitely ramen weather but I was also craving rice!

I ordered the chaashu (barbecue pork) ramen, which came with generous amounts of pork and a beautiful broth with a strong miso flavour. I personally prefer the noodles at Tanpopo Ramen – but the noodles here are still great.

The small Japanese curry side that came as a part of my set menu was just the comfort food I needed. It had a decent amount of spice but wasn't overwhelming, and I was very full after both dishes.

One neat thing about sitting at the noodle bar area is that the chef personally hands the bowl to you once he’s finished making your ramen! Overall, service here was friendly – although the waitress did speak quite quickly when confirming my order.

The interior seems a bit Spartan but carries the shop's sense of character and history. It’s been around for a few years at the heart of Auckland’s CBD transformation, quietly doing what it does best – serving up authentic, hearty Japanese fare. Definitely keen to see Daikoku Ramen stick around town well into the future. Keep up the good work!

I don't go here for the ramen. But I religiously go here for the beef curry on rice.

It may be the best damn Japanese beef curry in Auckland you can get for $11. Meltingly soft cubes of beef nestled in that iconic spice gravy; intensely slow cooked to a shade of delectable autumn caramel and oozing over a plate of steaming Japanese rice! It looks and tastes like the animated food we all drool over in Miyazaki's movies.

Perfect for that cold/wet Auckland day when our public transport system lets you down/you've got 30mins to kill. Cross the street for some soul food. Solo diner friendly and same prices for lunch and dinner! #winning

Seeing is believing. However, when it comes to restaurant, it should be eating is believing.
I believe it is a fairly nice Ramen place to fill the hungry stomach in this crowded city pace.

Soy sauce, Miso, Salt and Tonkotsu Ramen, four elementary Ramen but classic to choose. There are more to come if you would like some special treat to your noodle. Quite a Japan Style!

Honestly, for this kind of noodle place, always try the basic and best one. Tonkotsu is not a bad choice. Nice soup, slow cooked pork slice, bamboo shoots and fresh spinach for a taste bonus. What's more, you can choose fried dumplings, they call Gyoza and some pork stew for small bites. They are both quite authentic.

Just wish they could turn these seats a bit more tidy, then it would be closer to my Ramen Place expectation.

Ramen is something I love to eat. I don't go there often but when I do, I'll finish whatever is in the bowl. It's delicious and it's at a reasonable price.

Service is good and you don't need to wait long for your food. Therefore , you can say it's kind of like fast food but it's not.

Pretty decently big portion so it's worth it! 👍🏻

A super cute ramen store tucked away near Britomart. The queue was super long during lunch, which is a testament to the popularity of the place. The service is great and very efficient - so if you're in the city and need a quick meal, this is an option (also depending on how fast you can eat up a hot bowl of noodles).

I ordered the butter corn shio ramen and really enjoyed it. Everything was delicious and well cooked (especially the pork - so soft!). The only downside is that for a butter corn ramen, it didn't have a lot of
Corn (was a bit disappointed).

It can be a little bit hot inside here, as it's a tiny restaurant packed with people and food is being cooked and boiled in the same space. Maybe best to go there on a cool or cold day (or do takeaways - not sure if they offer that service)

I had Spicy Miso Tonkotsu which was really impressed me.It was spicy and sour.I was in love with its soup.

However, too much of noodles and not enough of meat and vegetable (A little bit greedy in my opinion for $14 that I have paid)

The service was not really satisfying but not under average.

In conclusion,I do like this Ramen restaurant but it's not gonna be my favorite one.

Ramen Daikoku is an absolutely wonderful place. Sure, it's not a fancy decked out eatery. On the contrary, it's a small, dimly lit establishment cluttered with tables and creaky wooden floors. However, therein lies the beauty of it all. Ramen Daikoku feels like a Ramen eatery should. It's an intimate dining experience in so far that you eat in front of the kitchen and the chef who cooks your meal before your very eyes. The ramen itself is truly authentic. It's made by a Japanese chef, who has actually had Japanese ramen, and knows what to do to replicate it. Too many times have we been served ramen by people who have absolutely no clue as to what ramen should even taste like. It's not just noodles chucked in with a bit of broth. No. There are flavour combinations that you strive for and Daikoku Ramen damned well hit the nail on the head. We absolutely loved our experience here and will be coming back again and again.

If your idea of a Cheap Eat in the Auckland CBD is a suspicious kebab or burger, clearly udon know your way around the culinary business district well enough. But how much is $10 worth these days? At Daikoku Ramen, evidently a lot – almost every main here is priced around the $10 mark. And they’re all pretty damn good.

My last full day in New Zealand, I will certainly miss the great people. Today’s schedule was a little less hectic and I took the opportunity to park myself at a couple of coffee shops throughout the day to get some work done. I decided to take a quick walk back to the Britomart area and wanted some comfort food. I decided on Ramen Daikoku, part of the Daikoku chain in New Zealand. It seemed appropriate for this overcast autumn day in Auckland.

My first time here this evening. I walk past frequently and love how it is located in a random alleyway, it makes it feel like a secret.
You don't eat here for the ambience. It feels strange inside. Even though it's full it is so quiet in there and you can only hear the very quiet radio playing.
We ordered a spicy miso tonkotsu ramen and Chasu men ramen.
Service was good. Food was good to. I liked the miso ramen the most. Portions are very generous. You won't be going home hungry.

Another great place for delicious Japanese cuisine.
The overall atmosphere is fairly dark, quiet and relaxing, but nonetheless it is a great place to go to with your friends. Some of the options are definitely on the slightly more expensive side, but that is mainly the bento and lunch set options - do try the bento some time, as they change the side dishes from time to time and it is fairly filling. The ramen here is fantastic, particularly those tonkotsu based. The toppings and serving size is also fairly generous, so do be prepared to have your stomach filled.
For those not craving ramen at the time, you also have other options like snacks and rice - highly recommend the authentic Japanese curry rice which is both delicious and affordable.
The staff are professional and on point, and the wait for food isn't too long. Go with friends for a pleasant experience.

The portions are huge and the soup base is rich. I got the spicy miso tonkatsu ramen and the takoyaki. The ramen is thin (which i like) and it really absorbs the flavour of the soup base. The tonkatsu is also tender and juicy. The takoyaki is also quite good but it lacks the dried bonito that i'm used to.

My absolute favourite place for ramen ❤️ I come here solely because of their ChaShu Ramen and Fried Chicken. This food outlet is not at the best location compared to other outlets of the same chain, the decoration and setting is also not nice but they absolutely make up with their super tasty ramen. Personally I only love food with lean meat and this place delivers. I have tried many ramen places and the meat always have fat attached to it which i dislike. Pricing is pretty standard (30$ at least for 2). Customer service is disappointing though, i like it when the wait staff is smiley and friendly, all i get from this place is being told where to seat even when the place is not crowded. Anyway will still come back coz i love a bowl of hot ramen on rainy days 😌

I had dinner yesterday here with a friend of mine. The place is small and not very modern, but it's got its charm. When I first saw it I thought to myself: "This must be how the ramen restaurants really are in Japan".

Service was very quick and efficient and the food came to the table just a couple of minutes after we ordered it. This place is awesome if you have to catch a train or ferry and you don't have much time.

I had "chasu men" (BBQ pork with pork flavoured ramen" and it was very nice. The noodles seemed to be from Countdown or some shop, but given the price, I think we had a nice dinner.

Shio Ramen for $9.80! How amazing is that?! This tiny restaurant next to britomart may seem really crowded during rush hours, but it's a very convenient place for a quick lunch. With quick service and hardly any wait time for seats (people eat quite fast), it's the perfect go to place for a work break lunch. The ramen is quite good, the soup base is really tasty, served in generous sizes and at amazing prices too! It's pretty quiet after rush hours so if you want to enjoy your time eating I suggest going during the off-peak hours.

I LOVE this place, its a tiny little fast paced restaurant next to Britomart Train Station and its also great for takeaway options (they are ALWAYS dead busy). I often get the soy sauce ramen and its always hot, flavoursome and has the best broth.

The broth in ramen definitely makes it, or breaks it for me but these guys get it spot on every single time and even know what I order from the moment I walk in the door. It's perfect in winter to fill and warm you up and they have a large double sided menu to choose from.

I love the open kitchen as well, its always fun watching the one man who assembles the ramen effortlessly make 10 at a time... he easily has the best memory for remembering all the orders and who ordered them!

When Daikoku disappointed me with its high price and food that didn't match up to that price, I found all my confidence back in the brand when I visited their Ramen bar! Although the place was crammed and the location was very discrete, the service and food were extremely good! I really enjoyed my bowl of ramen and loved the juicy, flavorsome dumplings as sides! The only other thing that I want from them would be to open till a bit later! It felt like right after we finished our noodles, the waitress was eyeing us because she was keen to start cleaning and getting ready to close. I reckon in the CBD, you'll definitely still get customers after 10:30pm let alone 9:00pm. Otherwise no complains!

I went here with a British colleague. And as the British say, we were feeling a bit peckish. So we went for a combo each – ramen + a side dish for about $14 each. The ramen went down very easily – hot, spicy (after a bit of added kick from the chilli powder) and cheap; it made for a delightful meal on a cold winter afternoon. The gyoza were delicious and worth paying the $4 extra. My colleague devoured his ramen, along with the beef and rice sides with gusto. I can only assume he enjoyed it as much as I did.

Such a nice little cheap eat in Auckland CBD (we need more of these places). Chef and waitresses are shouting back to each other in Japanese. It's a nice touch. The decor is similar to Ken Yakatori...a good attempt at a Japanese style eatery. I had the $15 meal. The Ramen was tasty (could have done with more sliced meat though). A shredded beef onion rice dish came with it. Delicious. Needed a bit of a kick, but chilli was on hand. The $15 meal was probably enough to feed 1.5 people. Good value.

I think most people who come here are regular customer as the place is small and hard to notice as a restaurant.

My favorite dish is curry & rice. It's a simple dish but it's really good!

Spicy Miso Tonkotsu had good flavor, the soup was not bland and not too spicy. And their ramen/noodle was good as well. I just think that bean sprout is not good option for this noodle.

Fried noodle was alright, nothing fancy nor bad.

Service is always quick and the price is reasonable.

Four of us dropped by here after an after-work drinks on a Friday night. This is a little noodle joint that have been here for like forever and look very much like one you'd find in Japan (this one in Osaka I went to comes to mind), and they shout greetings at you when you enter. They have just under 20 ramen to choose from plus extra to add into your ramen. I got the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu which is indeed spicy and a friend got the Hot Energy Ramen which is their most spicy ramen. They also do combination with a side dish such as karaage chicken (deep friend chicken) with yum yum sauce which I highly recommend!

Probably the best ramen place that I have been to! We ordered tonkotsu ramen and hot energy ramen. Big portions with nicely made noodles and flavourful broth. If you are not a fan of spicy ramen then do not order the hot energy ramen, but for me I loved it as I love spicy food. We also ordered takoyaki which they give you 5pieces and chicken karaage which had big chicken pieces. Very affordable if you want to enjoy nice Japanese food. 1 downside I noticed was they seem to rush you to order and leave which wasn’t nice, but I guess they do that because it is such a small place that a lot of people go to. So it’s more of a eat, pay and gap kinda place.

This was my local for ramen in Auckland, but also for chaahan (fried rice). The combination clear soup and chaahan of the Britomart Daikoku is amazing. If you order some karaage, and then eat a karaage piece with mayo, then after that a spoon of chaahan and quickly drink the clear soup, it creates an amazing flavour! Atmosphere is very raamen-ya-like, you feel like you are in an authentic shop in Japan. My favorite raamens were tonkotsu for everyday, and the stamina raamen when I was feeling a little under the weather (it's spicy!). The master is super friendly.
