Tried a variety of fried dumplings (beef, pork, chicken and vegetarian). Pork and fennel dumplings are definitely, hands down, the best. Perfect flavour combination and so juicy. Fried chicken and cashew nuts & brocolli are over seasoned, but they probably go well with rice. Vegetarian dumplings are my least favourite; slightly on the bland side.
Photo dont do this any justice! Rang up and ordered the guy over the phone had great English and knew what I wanted. Only took 20 mins, the food was amazing with the chilli soy sauce. Pancake and dumplings both fantastic. Will be coming back to try the crispy pork.
This is a quaint little spot for dumplings its holds it's own very well and a must visit for the dumpling enthusiast it may not seem like much but if you dont leave satisfied well then you're very uneducated

Great place to either dine in or take out. Dumplings are always on point. Deep fried fish is also something you would want to try. Never disappoints.
Very very good food here!!! Vegetarian food with dumplings is delicious. The vegetables are also so good, garlic broccoli 😊 staff are also lovely. They do dine in and take out which is also very good.
Absolutely love Mr Zhou’s! It’s definitely my favourite place to get takeaways, especially for those cold winter nights. Would also recommend adding the fried pancakes to your order! However will mention they should have more eco friendly packaging.
Best dumplings and spring rolls and the crispy pork is to die for! Only downfall was the food was cold and left sitting while the rest of our order was being cooked.

We love the food, especially the stir fried prawns, however the decor is plain and simple, more of a cafe feel than restaurant. We've returned on a number of occasions and enjoyed a delicious dinner every time :)

Really enjoy their dumplings and pancakes, they need to work on their service as we felt almost uncomfortable ordering food.. like we were a hassle and they were annoyed. However, dumplings are yum.
This is one of our family favourites. Our classic order is spring onion pancake (delicious and crispy), pork and chive dumplings, crispy chicken sweet and sour, green beans with chilli and fried rice. Everything is always hot and fresh. Never had a bad meal here 🥰
Mr Zhous does the best dumplings in Auckland. While the shop itself doesn’t look special, their dumplings sure are. I highly recommend the beef and cabbage, boiled. So good. I always get some frozen ones to take home too. Great dumplings at a great price.

The dumplings here are fantastic. Crispy fried and so tender and fresh. I enjoyed the chicken and coriander - soooo good. Excellent spring onion pancake, thinner and longer than I've had before. Also a delicious cold cucumber salad. Good service, too. Highly recommended.

The braised beef noodles are delicious - huge quantity and handmade noodles, beef that melts in your mouth. Wasn’t a huge fan of the chilli beef on rice but huge portions

Came her this evening with three friends, we arrived when it was completely empty but it soon filled completely. Despite reading reviews that service was slow our food arrived pretty quickly considering how much we ordered (and it all arrived at once). Food was very nice although it was sad that most of their vege dumplings had sold out. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The place was clean but the staff were not super friendly (to us atleast)
Go here regularly for lunch - love prawn and chives dumplings. Noodles are good quality as well - best to share unless you are carbophile. Cucumber and tofu salad is a good starter.

Love going to this place for Saturday lunches. Parking is easy. Sometimes busy for lunch times. Dumplings that's what they are famous for. Homemade noodle dishes are hearty and delish. Cucumber salad compliments fried dumplings entirely. About nine or ten tables there, small simple place I don't think you would want to have a glass of anything there. Just eat good & nothing fansy. If You like Dumplings- go there

The place is fairly decent. The service can be a little better the hype is around the dumplings which is well maintained. Wouldn't recommend trying out the other stuff as much. But surely pick your choice of dumplings and you're good to go.

Pork mince , $50 all up and i left with enough for lunch . Service was good - abrupt but quick and cheerful, and rather than sit me in a draft they put me on a table for 4 in the corner which was nice . Good food, good prices and good food grade - the 3gs!

yip the dumplings are amazing! we go for pork prawn and chive half steamed and half fried. they are plump with proper filling that just stays together. glossy thin covers. the mains while good are pretty pricey for what they are. better value elsewhere for Chinese takeaway.
Good food, decent portion sizes and prices. Decor good, service is ok. Wait times are the only thing holding this place back - we had to wait over an hour for some dumplings, sweet and sour tofu and combination fried noodles. Granted they were kinda busy but the dishes we ordered shouldn't have taken almost an hour and a half. They were apologetic when serving at least, and the food was up to standard. I would suggest calling ahead or going early if you have plans for afterward! Worth a visit though
Went with my daughter got two different dumplings and prawn fried noodles.. we loved the prawn fried noodles.. the dumplings were good but not the best I’ve had.. would still go again and look forward to my next visit! Staff were friendly and really helpful..
I can’t go past the pork and fennel dumplings, but all their dumplings are great! I also recommend the shredded potatoes with chilli. The food is always great and it’s always busy... for good reason!
Incredible dumplings. The pork chive and prawn is life! If you don't eat meat its all good - it's vegan friendly. And try the pressed tofu and cucumber salad. Really.

This is a great place if you want something delicious but aren't fussed on decor. Our go to is always the egg fried rice with egg & chive dumplings. It always hits the spot perfectly.

Mr Zhao's is one of my fav dumpling restaurants in the area. Even though new Lynn is "under construction" Mr Zhou's is still open. Winners :)

Been in West Auckland almost 5 years and always found it hard looking for good Asian food, fish and chip stores and just places I wanted to always eat at. My wife brought me along to Mr Zhou's over 2-3 years ago and has been a favourite place of mine to eat when I'm in the mood for either Asain or dumplings.
I've tried many things in the menu but today we had the Pork, prawn and chive dumplings, combination fried rice and crispy pork strips in sweet and sour sauce. I have had many different dumplings but their pork, prawn and chives will always be my favourite. Today was the first time I tried the crispy pork strips in sweet and sour sauce and it was amazing!! Hot straight out of the kitchen, not sticky like most sweet and sour so less mess which is good. The crispy pork was to die for! And of course I need some fried rice to go down well with the rest of the meal. I'm more of a boiled dumplings fan but the fried dumplings are very delicious. A must place to go if you're ever in the mood for Asain or dumplings. Hardest part about the store is the parking. But besides that it's a great place to eat, food comes out fast and you'll go home feeling satisfied and full.
Service and ambience is standard here. Had the pork mince + beef mince and chicken mince + coriander dumplings, they were delicious, came out in timely manner and a good price.
Yum! We had pork & chive dumplings, pork chive & prawn dumplings, fried chicken & coriander dumplings & pork & mushroom dumplings. They were all delicious. Modest surroundings & we got our food in the expected time frame. We'll be back!

Dumplings were good, and while place was quite busy the food delivery is pretty slow. We ordered a chicken dish but it never arrived. As we gave up they just came out saying they had been busy and making it then, but we chose not to wait.

My friend and I just happened to be around the area and decided to stop by Mr Zhou's Dumplings for lunch due to its good reputation which I am glad to say it lives up to.
Food
The dumplings we selected were Pork Mince & Chives (boiled) and Pork Mince, Chives & Prawn (fried). We were originally going to order Beef & Cabbage over the latter for some variety but they ran out so we went with our second choice out of curiosity if there would be any real difference between the two.
The PM&C dumplings were very tasty with sufficient filling. I oftentimes feel that the 'taste ceiling' for dumplings isn't very high as it becomes difficult to distinguish one from another once you've tried many different good ones. What sets these dumplings aside is the wrapping being done remarkably well as it was fluffy, fairly sturdy, yet easy to penetrate. I also found the quality of the filling to be very good as I did not find myself needing to spit out odd bits and pieces as you sometimes do with dumplings or meatball-type dishes.
The PMC&P dumplings unsurprisingly tasted similar to our other order but elements of shrimp were present. It added to the texture and if you're a fan of prawn it'll taste a little better. The dumplings were fried to a crisp on one side but I would advise to tread with caution when ordering fried dumplings because oil has a tendency to get trapped on the inside and squirt out when bitten into (but this is not unique to Mr Zhou's Dumplings). I have always preferred boiled to fried dumplings and this was no exception.
On a previous occasion, I did come with another friend and we ordered the Chicken Fried Pancakes. Contrary to the name, it is not your typical Chinese pancake but rather a stir-fry with cooked dough, meat and mixed vegetables. I found it alright and my friend enjoyed it more than I did since he's a fan of the dish.
Service
The lady who served us was very friendly and prompt. She originally spoke in Chinese but had sufficient English to communicate effectively. Large bottles of water are readily available and each table has all the complementary sides you'd need for your dumplings - chili, soy sauce and vinegar.
Ambiance
Nothing special here, just a typical Chinese eatery. Not much finesse but definitely clean enough with accessible toilets.
Overall
While I wasn't able to delve particularly deep into the menu, at the end of the day Mr Zhou's Dumplings will always be revered for its namesake. Their dumplings possess all the qualities that make for an exceptional dumpling from the fluffy exterior to the delectable interior. However, in a restaurant filled with empty plates, it isn't hard to imagine the great cooking fundamentals carrying over to other items on the diversified menu. As it stands, Mr Zhou's Dumplings offers great value for money and offers some of the tastiest, most well-rounded dumplings I've tried to date.
This place is off the hook, loved their chicken pancake noodles, with the lamb and pork dumplings. Not to forget the hot and sour soup was fabulous. Will definitely go back for a quick and cheap meal. This place does get crowded!! Great to see!!
I love Mr Zhou's Dumpling house .. i went therr on Thursday by myself for dinner after the gym ! (My night off from cooking) i got a black bean chicken on noodles and pork a d chives dumplings .. all i have to say is that the food is beautiful and the staff are friendly and the service is amazing and the serving of food is enough to fill you right up

DUMPLINGS from this place 💕 Veg with chives, chicken with chives, wontons in soup, veg noodles...!! Everything was super good. I have been here 3 times now and never been disappointed! Worth every penny
I love dumpling so I'm stoked there is such a yummy dumpling restaurant so close to where I live! Nice and quick with my take away order and very filling! $15 for 20 fried dumplings or $10 for 20 steamed, so worth it for the quality. I tried the vegetable and cashew dumplings which were great. Looking forward to trying more!
The dumplings are extremely good value for money and the in store service was fast, however I have to agree with someone else that commented on the people doing phone orders who don't have the best English..would be easier to just order in person and wait which is unfortunate.
This is my go to place when I am craving dumplings. I am a vegetarian so I always go for the vegetarian with cashew nut dumplungs and a spring onion pancake and they are delicious! So I am yet to try more on the menu.
I have only ordered takeaway there but everytime I go in to pick up my food it is always packed and seems like a great vibe. However, it is a little bit small though and service could be a bit better.

A nice place for having dumplings. Had the egg and chives dumplings and the chicken with peanuts. Both tasted really nice, the service is also really good. Will surely visit the place again and try the other options on the menu.
Our first time we came across this place. We are not sure what to expect and thought we would give it a go. We ordered some takeaways and was pleased with how fresh the food was. The dumplings were packed with flavour. The stir fry dish was simple but nice. No problem with placing our orders over the phone as the lady who answered the phone was lovely and very helpful. So yea, we will definitely be back and will explore more food on the menu. Thanks guys.
Good, authentic, slightly pricy relative to similar outlets on Dominion Road, but definitely one of my new regulars, since we just moved into New Lynn.
I went there for Chinese New Year. It was really busy. Without booking, I waited for around a half an hour to get a table. The dumplings were really yum and worth waiting. There are lots of Europeans there instead of Chinese. The restaurant's dining environment could be improved.
Dumplings good. BUT good luck trying to preorder on the phone. Noone seems to speak English or understand your order which is a pain. If you are lucky enough to finally find someone to take your phone order you will enjoy the dumplings. Again, they are currently the best I can find in west auckland.
Love the food here. Dumplings are pretty good but the handmade noodles are better. Service is somewhat unfriendly, can't really blame them given the busy nature of the place.
We were watching The Food Ranger on youtube and then craved some noodles and dumpling so we decided to try out the famous Mr Zhou's Dumplings for take out. We got some steamed pork chives and prawn dumplings. very juicy and plump. The fried beef with black bean chilli sauce on noodles was very flavourful. The noodles was a little over cooked and needed more spice for me so I added more chilli oil. Shredded chicken with noodle soup was good. For me it lacked spice so we added more chilli oil but if your not a spice head without the chilli its still good the broth has a strong chicken flavour. Lastly we got the cucumber salad which helped cool off all the spice. Refreshing and good way to end a spicy meal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely comeback and try more of their dumplings.

Apparently this is 'the place' that a lot of Asian chefs personal favourite restaurant that they like to hang out after work. Needless to say, we had high expectations.
We were quite hungry so ordered a few dishes to sample. Their dumpling skins are incredibly well made - thin, soft, and chewy. The stuffings were flavourful too.
The pancakes were perfection too. We ordered the spring onion as well as the sweet red bean ones, and enjoyed them both. However, the stand out dish to me would have to be the vegetarian fried pancakes. They were generous with the ingredients, the sauce was spicy and on point, and the strips of fluffy pancakes stir fried with vegetables were incredibly satisfying,
While my mother enjoyed the rich flavour of the gravy egg sauce noodle soup, it was quite a shame that both her's and my sister's noodles were overcooked to the point that they were soggy, so the handmade textures of the noodles were completely lost. My sister also did not particularly enjoy the spicy egg sauce on noodles, although that could just be her personal preference.
All in all, this restaurant definitely has something going for it, I think we just visited on an off day. I would be happy to visit again, and if they do not overcook the noodles next time, I would rate this place a 4/5.

The food is not as good as it used to be - but is still tasty nonetheless. The dumplings that this place is so renowned for - are definitely lovely but perhaps not worth the hype? The pancakes are my favourite - especially the combination pancake! Overall I give this place a 3.5 as it would have probably been a solid 4-4.5 with the old ownership.
I have only had the chance to go here once, however, it was nice servce. While waiting for our food they served us complimentary tea to drink. We tried the pork mince and chives dumplings, chicken fried rice, brown sugar pancake and the spring onion pancake. The dumplings were some of the best I have ever had. The fried rice was good portion size, however, was average in taste. The pancakes were both delicious and personally liked the spring onion one the most. On the outside, the place looks run down and old, but it will surprise you and just goes to show never judge a book by its cover.
I love this place for dumplings and homemade noodles. Mr Zhou's place is great tasting. I do crave their mince pork and pickled cabbage dumplings. Mmm! I have found a new craving which is tomato and egg on noodles. Excellent taste! Thank you Mr Zhou! Cheers!
Can't believe I missed this one. The price are very cheap and the food is just really delicious. The pan fried dumplings are very fresh and home made as well. I am a fan of chilly sauce, their spicy noodles are just really tasty.When I am in the area, will for sure pay a quick visit.
Had several dishes across the menu with one standout... this being the pork and celery steamed dumplings. Regular takeaway dish for me now and probably the best dumplings out west. Wish there was some other menu items that get me as excited thou.
Dined here last night and we were damn pleased with the food! We arrived at a busy time with full tables and a few people ordering their takeaways but we were promptly greeted, seated and given menus.
The dumplings were delicious! Cute little morsels packed with flavour. We ordered 3 different types because we couldn't choose! Also order the cumin chill squid which was slightly overcooked but yummy nonetheless. The highlight for me was definitely the eggplant! We will be back soon! Two thumbs up!
Great little place, been wanting to go here for ages. Food is really basic home style food, dumplings were really good!! Fresh and hand made. The spring onion pancakes we AMAZING.....super fresh, super hot and we could have just eaten plates of those with dumplings. Also had the prawn noodle stir fry...was nice. Again basic but yummy. Then finally had the sizzling pork belly and chilli....we were totally full by this point, probably wouldn't order this again as pork belly was more like thin strips of bacon. But atmosphere was quirky, was packed...and just a fun experience. Will definitely be going back again..and $46 for 2 people and couldn't eat anything more

It's small but a busy place with constant flow of customers. We use to always go to dominion road for dumplings but to be honest it's quite a long travel for average dumpling/ crap service (I can stamp my Asian standards on this one).
The restaurant that's only one suburb away from me serves its purpose as the dumpling/noodle shop. Their noodle is got good texture, and u know it's hand made with good old fashion muscle grease.
I have been twice already and tried a combination of all their food; tasty, awesome portions and fast. I also like the fact that it's not overly salted like a lot of Asian restaurant.
What a sweet find in new Lynn! Very clean for a casual Chinese restaurant and easy parking! Staff were very nice and friendly and the place is renovated with clean furniture. We tried their fried noodle, beef brisket soup noodle and crispy pork for two people we spent $39 which is pretty good as we had some left overs too! Noodles were all handmade and they were the best noodles! Also flavours were very good and authentic, this is probably the best Chinese casual dining out west!! Will definitely be back to try more from their menu!
I'm so glad to find where Mr Zhou went. His chilli chicken pork is amazing and the crispy fried pork is legit!! I love these two dishes, so for me this place holds top marks. Ill be coming here a whole lot more. This place is delicious and never lets me down.
Yummy authentic Chinese home style cooking. Went for Sunday family lunch. On line says opens at 11am but when we arrived it actually opens at 11.30am but we were seated as soon as waitress could set us a table. Polite service and food came out quite quickly. Not long until the place started filling up fast and many people did takeaway too. Food was good had a variety of 3 types of dumplings (1 being in soup & 2 fried. 20 dumplings per serving.so we ordered 60 all up. ) combination fried noodles & combination fried rice and fried sweet & sour pork ribs. Came to about $80. Served 6of us. (Including young kids)

Food taste and quality good, service good, ambience good (could do a lot more with decor). We had chicken chives dumplings (recommended), eggplant chicken salty fish (recommended), fried squid in cumin and sprouts & potato salad. All was good but dumpling the winner. After all this is the guy who made the most famous dumplings in Auckland.
The owners here used to own New flavour on Dominion Road, so we decided to check it out and see how it compared to all the other balmoral dumpling establishments!
Very very similar menu, if not the same. We ordered the fried pork and chive dumplings, spring onion pancakes and the crispy, sweet and sour chicken. The dumplings and pancakes tasted exactly the same to new flavour. I did enjoy the sweet and sour chicken however after a while the batter became soggy and quite chewy to eat. Nonetheless it was still tasty.
Overall, I'm finding that the dumpling dough at these sorts of places are too thick. I prefer the dumplings you get at yum cha. However I do crave cheap Asian food like this every now and then.
If you order through phone be sure to speak clearly! it may take awhile to get your order via phone but thats no fuss either way, 5/5 favourite dumplings ever! highly recommend the pork mince and coriander dumplings! my absolute favourite!
I'd been meaning to try this place for ages, and wasn't disappointed. Amazing dumplings and pancakes. Fantastic value for money, too. Well worth a trip to New Lynn for. (My fussy four year olds found something to eat on the menu, too.)

Went here looking for dumplings on a Friday night having heard and read good things about this place. Set in a very unassuming and no frills setting which in some ways can bode well or spell disaster. In this case the hype was spot on...
We had the steamed pork and cabbage and pork and fennel dumplings and the fried pork, chive and prawn and beef and coriander dumplings. All were extremely flavoursome and maintained the structural integrity of the meats and herb accompaniments which sometimes can get lost in the preparatory stages. The steamed dumplings were not water logged which again is a downside of most of the dumplings that you can get. The side sauces of chilli oil, soy sauce and vinegar complimented the dumpling extremely well.
We also order the fried beans with chilli and the braised eggplant with brown sauce which were both cooked perfectly with the right amount of spice, heat and umami taste in them.
Overall a very satisfying meal and definitely a place to return to.. can't wait to try out their other dishes soon. It may be out of the way of the central city but well worth the effort made to get there.....
Best dumplings I've had by far!!! It's a bit out of our way, but it's well worth the drive. Customer service is always good, and the food is amazing. Ocassionally we've found a stray meat dumpling in with the vegetarian, but that's nothing major. Highly recommend the spring onion pankcake
Potentially the best dumplings out west! It's not often we are in the area but decided to head here for dinner one night and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant could do with a bit of sprucing up but proved to be popular by the amount of people dining in. We were lucky to get the last table.
Tonight's dishes were:
- Potato, eggplant and capsicum in garlic sauce
- Fried vegetarian dumplings (10pc)
- Fried Chicken & coriander dumplings (20pc)
- Chicken fried noodles
- Fried tofu in home style sauce
All up it costs $62.50 for the 5 of of which we thought was really reasonable! We were left feeling full and satisfied and also one full container of leftovers. The service was normal for an Asian/Chinese place as the food normally makes up for it. Portion sizes are pretty decent and good for sharing so you can try a few dishes - there's heaps to choose from in the menu.
Would happily return when in the area for the dumplings (!) tofu or potato, eggplant and capsicum.
This place is amazing. Typical Chinese ambience, nothing too fancy and basic service. We got the fried chicken and coriander dumplings and chicken with chillies on rice.
Most dumplings are not high in flavour and depend on the chili oil and soy sauce mix. Not these ones. The chicken filling was full of coriander flavour with hints of ginger, perfectly seasoned. Yummy!
The chicken on rice dish was really good too. The chicken-perfectly cooked and the sauce-delicious.

It took a while for orders to be taken and for food to come out.
But...food was okay!
Pancakes were bigger than I thought.

Simply the best. A bit of a wait for the food to arrive but good things take time.
Love the food here, bit of a hike just for some chinese food if you live central but why not. Good if you go with a group of 3 or 4 and share plates cause it works out to be cheaper. Went with a group of 5 and everyone was extremely full by the end of it and only spent about $13 each.

Mr Zhou's dumplings is pretty good. They make amazing fresh dumplings, and very reasonably priced. There are many variety to choose from. I have not tried many dishes on the menu but they are good. I come here for mainly the dumplings.
Delicious dumplings. Attentive service. I live on the other side of Auckland but will visit again soon just to come here. Highly recommended

The dumpling were really good they also had a great sauce with them the customer service and cleanliness of the restaurant i.e uncleared tables was a small let down.
We have ordered dumplings, pork belly tofu stew and savory pancakes. The handmade dumplings impressed us! Definitely will recommend to friends.

It's an unglamorous place in an unglamorous block of shops on a busy road. But the food more than makes up for the surrounds.
Plump, flavoursome and crazy cheap dumplings. The simple old pork and cabbage were delish. I recommend paying $1 extra to get them fried rather than steamed. We also got a plate of veges, it was massive, fresh, not overcooked and not to oily. Perfect.
This is my new favourite dumpling place. I'll be back!
We decided to eat at Mr. Zhou's after seeing it on an article about the best dumpling places in Auckland. We were greeted by a stressed waiter who informed us that the waiting time would be 40 minutes for the food. Nonetheless we were curious so we decided to stay. Ordered the Pork and Chives dumplings which were delicious (and I'm not a big fan of dumplings!), the Deep Fried Squid w/ Cumin and Chilli which was nice and crunchy and was our favourite dish, and lastly the Brown Sugar Pancakes which lived up to its name - literally liquid brown sugar inside a pancake. It was average, but the portion was good for its $3.50 price. Overall, our experience was good, the food met our expectations and the waiting time was definitely less than 40 minutes. We can't say that it's the best dumpling place in Auckland, but it's definitely up there.
The food is lovely, great choices and the dumplings are indeed great. I just hope that the waitress gets enough sleep. She is friendly but often looks tired. Favorite dumplings are pork and coriander.
Been here a few times have never been disappointed. They have the best dumplings in Auckland! And the best pancakes too. Worth your money as well.

Update: I went a second time but this round we had main meals. They were both delicious with a side of rice. That was the beef and noodle dish!!
Third time I came it was a whole different story. It wasn't as nice as the 2nd round! The fried rice wasn't very nice the cabbage had a funky taste to it. Sweet and sour was average. But I was mainly dissapointed with the noodles it wasn't the same. However, the beef dish came through it was yum.
Even though I was let down I will still come back to eat 😁 it must of been a bad day.

This place is packed at dinner time. We were lucky enough to get a table within minutes of walking in at peak dinner time. The waitress cleaned the table thoroughly and was very friendly, bringing tea when we were seated. We ordered the beef chive dumplings, pork fennel dumplings, chicken coriander dumplings and beef brisket noodles. Our orders took a while but there were a lot of people in the restaurant. We found it very noisy and could barely hear ourselves, but this was probably more of an issue with the table of ten behind us. Not sure if there was any music playing in the background. The quality of the dumplings was good, my favourite being the beef chive. My boyfriend liked the chicken coriander although I found them a bit bland for my taste. After having the dumplings, the noodle soup came last. It didn't taste as flavourful as I had hoped, but adding chilli and soy helped make it more palatable. Overall it was a good experience. I'm happy with the price but you can find d dumplings cheaper elsewhere. Not bad for West Auckland, where it's hard to find good Chinese food. Wouldn't mind revisiting apart from the lack of parking.
Hands down the best dumplings in Auckland. Love the pork and chives and the beef and fennel. Recommend trying the dumplings fried. Only let down is the noodle dishes and the service. Can be a bit rude at times and I don't find the noodle dishes flavoursome. A must try if you love dumplings!
Mr Zhou's dumplings is one of my regular eateries. You cannot go wrong with the chicken mince and coriander dumplings ( I prefer steamed) great option if you are wanting to eat out with friends. Order a plate each there is enough to share around and left overs to take home. Service is average, they will take your order and bring it to the table when ready. If your looking for attentive waiters this is not the place for you. Family operated business.
Quality feeds for a bargy price. Awesome dumpreenz, bit noisey and super basic decor if you're eating in but great selection of food....👍🏼
I love dumplings and this is the place to get them. They are ridiculously cheap and delicious. The other meals are fine, but it's the dumplings that are the star here - though try the beans in brown sauce, which sounds awful, but is delicious.
I last had a plate of pork and fennel dumplings and some fiery cucumber salad. I'll be back (quite often).

They have a wide variety of dumplings and you can have either steamed or pan fried. Their handmade noodles are also quite good. It's obvious that mr.zhou's is a local favourite since it's always full especially during dinner time.
This is our local takeaway joint and we like getting the fried dumplings from here. The handmade noodles are really nice too. Reasonable prices but sometimes the service is patchy.
They turn the food over pretty quick considering how busy it is, very yummy food at a affordable price. we had chicken fried rice, beef noodles and stir fried vegies with chicken. Everyone at our table was impressed. Toilets also tidy. Will have to try the dumplings as I read from other reviews they are yummy
The food is very deceptively delicious. It doesn't look like a lot when it reaches the table, but it tastes very lovely. Definitely would order the Chicken Fried Rice again. Solid 8.7/10. Choice.
Best dumplings out west! My favorites are pork,prawn, chive and chicken mince with coriander. The only downfall is the wait time but thats because it is hugely popular. Ring in advance to order your dumplings it should cut the time down. A must try.
We paid $88 for 6 people. We all left with extremely full bellies and a smile on our faces.
The cucumber salad with sesame and chilli was delish, the bean sprout and chive stir fry was tasty and the dumplings are like little pillows of meat filled clouds...
Its unpretentious, it's tasty, it's cheap and it's totally worth a visit.

Very conveniently located, this joint is the perfect answer to dumplings in West Auckland. It doesn't seem to have the constant flavor of Barilla Dumplings but is quite good. Had the Shanghai noodles too and wasn't disappointed. Portion size ftw.
This place is great!! If you are nearby one night then Mr Zhou's is a must!! Fantastic dumplings and pan cakes. Cheap also. Awesome food. Decor is average, service is average but the food rocks.

I was once asked if I owned shares in Mr Zhou's, such is my love for this place. Even prior to their quite major renovations last year I adored eating here. Now there are more tables & the food is served on plates, rather than the plastic containers they were served in before; you don't have to walk through the kitchen to get to the toilet anymore and several extra staff have been employed to handle the demand; the food is also just as good & as reasonably priced as before.

The combination pancakes, chicken with chili & peanuts and pork belly in brown sauce are all very good too.
One of the best things about Mr Zhou's is the food is consistently good. Never had a disappointing meal from here.

Best place in auckland for dumplings! We drive from milford for these and without fail every time they make it well worth the drive. Love the huge selection of dumplings
One of our fav takeaways / cheap eats in New Lynn. The menu caters for different tastes and diets, lots of healthy options too. The portions are enormous. Love their dumplings of course but other dishes are delicious as well: shredded tofu & cucumber salad is really fresh and full of flavour; fried chives & bean sprouts are wroth trying... The decor is really basic and there's no atmosphere really but that's not what you should be looking for there. It's often busy because it is so popular so allow plenty of time for your food to be ready.
Mr Zhou's is quickly becoming an institution in New Lynn for Chinese and Europeans alike! No longer do West Aucklanders have to make the journey to Dominion Rd and can get great dumplings in the style of Barilla and New Flavor. I always order fried dumplings with a side of cucumber salad. Perfect combination to balance out the oil. The other dishes are all well priced and great if you've got a bit of a group. Definitely come here when you want something a bit more interesting than fried rice and sweet and sour pork.
Don't go at busy times of day. Do try any meat and coriander boiled dumplings. Yum! very fresh green fillings and without the horrible grease of other dumpling places
Did my homework, drove past enough times to know how busy they get and finally got my butt in there to see what the fuss is all about. Moving to Waitakere from the North Shore we had sorely missed the plentiful Asian eateries on the Shore and have been slowly seeing what's in our new local. Mr Zhous did not fail to deliver on the flavor!! We loved it so much and had to go back for more. My kids enjoyed the combination pancake (think deconstructed) and the pork, chive & prawn dumplings.
While we explore other west auckland eat outs well be having Mr Zhous every Friday till then. Oh, as for service.. yes it was super busy and we had a very upset diner about a mix up and no communication... but for us personally its a cheap eatery serving great food and humans make mistakes. We went for a dumpling eating experience... and that's what we got. No complaints here :)

Ummmmm..... I went on Friday night at 7pm and it was absolute chaos in the restaurant. I do appreciate that this is peak time but other places seem to manage this better. I waited 10 minutes before having to ask for our table to be cleaned down from previous customers. The waitress then asked if we would mind moving table as another family of four wanted our table....err no. We finally ordered the chicken noodle soup, fried dumplings with pork and cabbage and a chicken and rice dish. Noodles were excellent, in keeping with other reviews, but and it is a big but(t) the broth was weak and under seasoned. They also forgot the chicken, which seems an integral part of a chicken and noodle soup! Chicken and rice was very tasty, albeit served in a plastic takeaway container- i thought that was odd but hey ho. Also to ask for chop sticks in a Chinese restaurant! Either they forgot or assumed a honky couldn't use them. Dumplings were full of flavour, as you may expect from a restaurant specialising in dumplings. The problem I had with them was the horrible oil that they use for frying...it left a disgusting bitter coating on the tongue and told me that they use the cheapest oil you can buy. Mr Z, correct me u I am wrong? Overall, the food was ok and better than most of the other cheap Chinese places in New Lynn. I can see the appeal- portion sizes are large so perception of good value for money. I get it., hence the stellar ratings of others, So, I may give it a second stab, however not at 7pm on a Friday and I'll have the dumplings boiled thanks. Rating 3 for now. I'll update after second trip.
Update- 2nd visit today for lunch this time and much much better. We had the braised beef noodle soup, pork and cabbage booked dumplings and chicken with chilies and nuts. The dumplings were very tasty and we preferred these to their fried cousins. My 3 year old couldn't get enough of the noodles. I have upped my rating to a 4.
Mr Zhou's is back open, and boy was it delicious. We tried the pork, chive and prawn dumplings (fried), the combination fried noodle, and the combination fried pancake. When the first plate came out, we thought it was the noodles and devoured it. I even said "these are the best noodles I've ever had" because they were big, flat, and handcut. Next thing we know... a plate of noodles comes out! Turns out the best noodles I'd ever had were actually the best pancakes I've ever had. Long story short, try the combination fried pancakes, it's like nothing I've ever had and it was amazing! The dumplings were also off the chain, so great.Oh and the wait time was not too bad either, maybe 15-20 mins when they were quite busy?
Amazing! We got the pork mince and corinder steamed dumplings along with the stir fried seasonal vegetables with garlic. So fresh and tasty! The restaurant itself does not look very inviting but the food is outstanding. Will definitely be back!

Wow just had a work dinner and the food was delicious we made 5 orders they were fantastic cups for our drink and free herbal tea they have friendly staff and so affordable. I highly recommend this restaurant A++ experience

Ahh no need to travel into the city for us Westies. Every bit as good as the original New Flavour. Perfect dumplings, super handmade noodles.
Don't let the appearance of the shop fool you as this place makes very tasty dumplings you can have them steamed or pan fried. My favourite dumplings from Mr. Zhou's are pork and chives & chicken and coriander. This place is worth checking out for first-timers and dumpling fans around Auckland

The food is just really tasty and you can see it's catered for authenticate Chinese people and not westernized Chinese food.

My colleagues were amazed at the Dumplings and all said it was delicious at work and didn't imagine actual Dumplings meant to taste like this.
Local restaurant with nice food and reasonable price, and I love their pork and chive dumplings and fried noodle, which is my son’s favorite. We tried green beans with pork belly, authentic Chinese flavor. Big thumbs up for keeping up the standard and price considering the price level.
Exceptional food here, old school pricing and has a healthy reputation as a must visit ... many options and rapid service
Had low expectations, yet they exceeded it. Cheap and cheerful Chinese in the suburb included salty fish and chicken fried rice as well as pork prawn and chives steamed dumplings. It was quite enjoyable and yummy
An excellent casual place to fill yourself up on the cheap! Although the atmosphere is a bit bleak, the food and price make up for this! Most serves are around 20 dumplings for $11. I would highly recommend the ‘pork and chives’ and ‘chicken and coriander’ dumplings. Many people do takeaways from here, but I recommend eating in, so you get to use all the sauces.
I think Mr Zhou's has the potential to compete with the 5 star cheap eats like those found on dominion road. We had a variety of dishes and all were cooked just right! Didn't know what to expect with the Taro Milk Tea but it was ok. My favorites were the tofu with spring onions, the spare ribs on brown sauce, and the pancake. Giving only 4 stars today as we did arrive late but not closing time late and the worker started to mop and bleach smell was strong at times. Will come back to try more dishes.
Yummy dumplings and noodles, never go wrong with deep fried pork and chicken. Good place to enjoy dinner with family and friends with value food, highly recommended.
Yummy dumplings, nice, well priced local eatery. Green tea is nice, dumplings tasty, great spot. Can probably sneak into Bunnings if you need a park. Service was prompt.
One of the best dumplings I've ever had! Their Mapo Tofu was excellent too. They are also one of the few places that are open till 10pm.
$15 for good quality dumplings, they are superb! I would gladly give it another 15bux every time I'm feeling for pork chive prawn dumplings. Sauces are magnificent. This place is Devine
I got this on Ubereats, and honestly i wasn’t expecting much, but it was so good! I got pan fried dumplings and a wonton soup with chicken pieces. Everything tasted so good and it was packaged with so much care. The portions size was worth the price! Would defs order from here again.
