Since my friend recommended their Chicken rice is the best in Auckland. I would say 7/10. Rice is good, but not the taste as in Singapore or Malaysia. Homemade chillies sauce is excellent 10/10! Chilli is one of the major element that made nice chicken rice. Nice bean spout on the side! Chicken is okay, not as smooth and juicy as I expected. Very pricy $18 for the dish.

I have been to this one and the one in Sylvia. Atmosphere is bright and clean which might be reflected in the higher pricing of the meals. Good portion sizes. Stand out is always the crispy chicken skin but the nasi lemak with chicken curry has been consistently good.

I got the good old classic 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑹𝒊𝒄𝒆 which never disappoint😊, it is such a good choice for something not super oily and not too salty, light but flavorful. My friend got 𝑷𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒂 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓 𝑲𝒐𝒂𝒚 𝑻𝒆𝒐𝒘 which is a party 💃of taste in your mouth. Some hot 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝑳𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒆𝒂☕ is so perfect for this cold weather.⠀

Rating 3.5 Fairly standard franchise of the Papparich chain, the good thing about this is that you know you can always find your favourite dish there. Mine is the fish head noodle soup. Pretty consistent with ones I had in the Australian outlets. Plenty of fried fish pieces, and the fishes were well fried, not soggy nor tough meat. Very satisfying.

Dined here countless times and honestly it is consistent. If you want a good laksa, come to papparich. If you want a solid rendang, come to paparich. Are there better places for each dish? Yes, but you just can't beat consistent flavour and service and so for that, kudos.

I apologise for writing a very late review for this amazing restaurant. I have already been here more than 20 times and this shows how much I really love Paparich’s Menu. The food is flavoursome and good value for money 💰! The service is quick and the staff are efficient. My go to order is of course their exquisite Seafood Laksa.

A big thank to Zomato first of all for offering me the opportunity to try on some amazing upcoming dishes from Paparich which are the cereal butter prawns, egg yolk prawns and the spinach soup. Both prawn dishes were done really well with super crunchy eatable shells(said we can eat the head part too and that’s actually the best part of the dish) and luscious meats inside. Definitely keen to see those items on their menu on my next visit. The soup was simple and flavourful, and one key thing is that they only lightly blanched the spinach so it kept all the goodness of the vege and it didn’t taste too mushy as the overcooked ones usually do.

There were few other dishes came along on the table and all are very tantalising and perfectly cooked.

Except of the lime soda that I ordered tasted a bit more like a lychee soda and less limeish than I expected, this was definitely a very pleasant dining experience to me and I would love to come back again.

I absolutely love the food at Papparich! The portions are great compared to the price and the taste is amazing. The outside seating area has little privacy as it is located in the civic with a lot of foot traffic but inside seating is good. Will return!

Been to Papparich a few times now, and the restaurant is always busy but still manages to serve the meals relatively quickly.

Portion sizes are very large and filling for the price and there’s a wide range of dishes to please anyone. Have tried the roti with chicken curry, nasi lemak with chicken curry and sambal prawns, and the starchy chicken noodles which have all been amazing and very flavoursome. Love the roti especially as it’s very flaky and filling.

Service is polite, not overly involved which is fine as I don’t really expect it when I’m at a mall. Only annoying thing is you can’t split bills, but not a major annoyance.

I had a rather enjoyable evening at PappaRich. The wait staff were great in moving us to a quieter corner of the restaurant to accommodate my son with autism. Food was served quickly and it was all so delicious. The drinks were absolutely yummy. The roti with condensed milk and sugar was a highlight. I'll be going home and trying to figure out how to make my own version now lol

The best menu book in Auckland, isn't? I am always crazy about their Curry Laksa, how can fried eggplants soaking in the soup be so delicious? Masi Lemak with curry chicken is also one of my favorite. A little bit pricier than the other Malaysian restaurants but surely worth a try. Next time will try the MamaRich as well. 😆

Wat tan hor is my best love dish and I always order it when I come. The wet eggs and Fried rice noodles are perfect combination. I've also tried several other dishes through mealpal, and they're all very delicious! Almost all of their dishes are recommended, except for curry, which is not very acceptable to me personally. Roti kaya and chicken wings are two of the best slides in the shop. If it's around 12pm or 6pm, it's a little crowded, which is what most restaurants are, but the service is still pretty good. Strong recommend and I think Papparich is the best restaurant in Auckland CBD.

Love coming to this place to eat. Easy place to come and have yummy food. The Curry Laksa could’ve been more creamier and could have more curry flavour but there was a variety of seafood and a good portion of noodles. Overall an easy place to have dinner or lunch.

We started with Roti Canai to share, which is a classic Malaysian breakfast with a bit of Indian influence. The roti is a stretchy and flat bread that is made to order. It was flaky and crisp on the outside, and soft and a little chewy on the inside. The roti was served with a mild curry, sambal (a spicy sauce), and Dhal (a mild lentil based sauce).

My dad and I loved the sambal sauce, it was pretty spicy (which we both like) and full of flavour from the chillies, shrimp paste, and various other spices and herbs. We ended up saving some of the sambal sauce to have with our mains! My mum who cannot handle spicy food did really enjoy the curry sauce and Dhal, and it was quite fun to try the different sauces with the roti.

The famous national dish of Malaysia, Nasi Lemak. It is steamed coconut rice served with curry chicken, prawns, dried anchovies, roasted peanuts, sambal sauce, cucumber, and a hard boiled egg.

It is a showcase of different flavours and textures on one plate, from the delicate coconut rice to the salty crunch of anchovies, the tender bits of chicken and flavorful prawns. It was delicious. I particularly loved the chicken curry, it was rich, aromatic, and paired with the coconut rice fantastically.

I ordered Hainanese chicken, it was served warm in a housemade soy sauce. It was probably the most tender chicken I have had (and mum agreed!), and tasted great with the sauce.

Last dish we had was the red chicken and eggplant biryani, a fusion of Indian and Malaysian cuisines. Biryani is an Indian spiced rice dish prepared with basmati rice, and many spices and herbs. It was served with sambal eggplant, red chicken, and a pappadom (the thin and crispy cracker).

I quite liked the fragrance from the rice. However, since the meat and eggplant were already rich and flavorful on their own, I found it a little too salty and ‘rich’ having both rice and the meat together. Apart from that, I did enjoy the dish.

Food is beautifully Malaysian! A lot of Malaysian food shops don’t spend much time perfecting their menus but you can tell PappaRich does!! Every single time i come here the food engulfs me into this world of flavour. It’s beautiful. Its very Malaysian with its mixed cultural dishes while beautifying the street foods of Malaysia :)
The system of how to use the service is great with the buttons on the table for table service, only 1/5 stars off though because waiting staff can be hostile at times and the prices are a bit hefty compared to other City Metro restaurants? Not rude staff just not friendly either :D
Lovely food but the prices aren’t cheap.
I would recommend this for a night out with family when you have the budget!

I’ve always preferred Uncle Man’s because they’re the best Malaysian food in Auckland, but PappaRich isn’t half bad with Zomato Gold 1+1!

We paid $12 each for a GIGANTIC bowl of fish curry, and god it was good. Super rich, super savoury, perfectly cooked fish fillet and fish head with awesome fried eggplant in a creamy, umptuious laksa-style soup. I haven't been to Papparich since first year of uni, partically when they first opened. I guess I never went back cause of the price. They are on zomatogold so decided to check it out.

Roti canai with vegetarian curry mutton 9/10
The roti is the best I have ever had, its fluffy and softer than the rolls on my belly and crispy on the outside. It just teared apart so easily. The sauces were spicy and sweet, just the way I like it. The mutton was great too but slightly a bit too dense and chewy. But I will definitely come back as long as it's on zomatogold. 😅

Ordered a chicken laksa dish and mee noodle dish which turns out to be mee goreng. Cheap prices and reasonable portions. The laksa was a bit too buttery so I couldn't finish but lucky we were sharing the two dishes. Mee goreng is nice and almost has some sort of refreshing taste (may be the tomato). The place is busy and seems to be under staffed but service is ok considering how busy it gets. The tables inside can get a bit stuffy so we prefer sitting in the semi outside area.

However recently, we started using Zomato Gold and even though we showed zomato gold ID code to the waiters/waitresses before ordering, we were asked to pay the full amount (price before 1+1) at the cashier. I go here often. I quite like the Roti Canai. It has a decent portion of Roti, curry chicken, dhal and a heavenly chutney that tastes tangy and sweet! My drinks of choice are the Bandung with grass jelly and cold milo. The Bandung is a delicate sweet drink with a sherbet like flavour with crushed ice and jelly at the bottom. The cold milo is a staple in Malaysia and Singapore. The ordering style isn't like anything you have in Auckland but I feel it really works for this restaurant. I've always found the staff friendly and competent, they processed my Zomato gold offer today no issues so yay.

Nice little restaurant in the Sky City Metro complex with a little ‘indoor courtyard’ feel to it. The menu is quite full on, a lot of choices, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. They had a few vegetarian options with “mock meat” but not many gluten free options. The staff member who served us seemed a little lost in the job, might’ve been new, but overall they were reasonably accommodating and did a vegetarian version of the Nasi Goreng which was quite good.

I went here with a friend and it was a pretty funny experience actually.
We both ordered the nasi goreng and it was soo delicious and flavourful, I still salivate at the memory of it. But my friend had a rather 'turbulent' experience, her and my chicken were both pink and red at the bone, and I'm used to it or at the very least ignore the slight queasy reality that my chicken is bloody (I live in denial most of the time)

Anyway, my friend has had some rather unpleasant experiences with bloody chicken, specifically in the colon region, and was terrified and paranoid that she had gotten food poisoning :(
Of course the servers were incredibly nice and tried to reassure us that it was normal. But there's always that looming fear you know?

But despite that, the overall experience was pleasant and I would still definitely come back, although kinda awkward that you couldn't split the bill, so who's paying? Rock, paper, scissors?

This place does really nice food, i usually get the Oriental Chicken Chop and the Tofu Pudding drink. The food is slightly expensive, but the quality of food is definitely better than most Malaysian food i've had. The only issue is that the Tofu Fa (Tofu Jelly) is very seldom instock. Overall though this is a great place with a great atmosphere

A lot of the low ratings are from people ordering their no specials.

I think just order the recommendations and what they are good at and you will enjoy it.

Delicious roti canai, hor fun and hainan chicken. I don’t order the fish collar noodle because mamarich does a better job.

Also don’t go when it’s busy, if you have to wait until you get seated, then you are bound to wait longer after you order your food.

SATISFYING is the keyword here. No matter my mood, I’m bound to be satisfied here as the menu has a wide selection and each dish has a generous quantity. My favourite dish of theirs is the congee and in fact their congee is my favourite congee! I feel as though the value of each dish varies, as some which are cheap to make can be quite costly and vice versa, so you’ll have to be wise to make it worth what you pay as things add up quickly (especially when adding drinks or dessert!). Service is prompt and convenient with a bell you can press. However they forgot my order two times I’ve been over 6 months. If it were the congee I ordered though, I’ll definitely wait.

I’m a big fan of Malaysian food and paparich doesn’t disappoint.
We ordered the chicken rice and chicken with rice noodles.
The chicken was very tender and presented well. The place is rarely empty after hours and it’s fair enough.
The downside would be the understaffing during these busy period. We had to wait a little while for our food, but it was worth it.

Nice place in a small niche at the events hub... Good food and i must say they have got all those flavours packed in their meals... Wait time was quiet decent as well i like the concept where u write in your chices n hand it over to them.. A tad bit pricy for the portion that they serve but once in a while its alright... Only let down was the laksa because i didnt expect it to be so oily.

Came here for lunch during graduation week and as expected it was really busy. I still managed to get a seat amongst all these big tables.

I ordered the Papa Wat Dan Hor with a side of steamed chicken and a iced red bean drink. The food was great and it came out quite fast but the drink was in a plast8c cup as I assumed they ran out of glasses but it also had big chunks of ice within the drink as I think they don't blend it for long enough but overall a pleasant experience.

The two of us ate for $55. Very good value. We’d certainly cone back here. Recommend that you give this a try for a quick pre concert meal. The more we eat here, the better it gets. 💕.

Yummy food! Good to be adventurous and order something you wouldn’t usually. Sometimes they have good meal deals on where you can get 2 courses and a drink for a certain price.
They have a lovely sago pudding. Their roti are delicious and the steamed chicken is so good -something I normally wouldn’t order but definitely will continue to do so in future.

Have been the city restaurant numeric times, love the food, today here I am again; been Sylvia Park two days in a roll.
Fish head curry laksa is very nice in both restaurants, the deep fried eggplants with the laksa is crispy but not oily, just not enough soup in Sylvia Park.
Nasi namak ....must try, Paparich has done a good job.
Chicken Rice is a good chice if you don't eat chilli, the rice is tasty and feel like you want another of it.
Open sesame is a drink of black sesame and black sesame icecream, cool and not too sweet which is just what I like.
Hainam Chicken- we had the whole chicken at Sylvia Park, the size seems very small, the taste had no suprise.

We came in just before a movie and five mins before the kitchen closed so we were lucky they seated us but they still had a number of diners there though.

Service is standard and fast. Ambience is standard as well.

We had a soya milk + black sesame ice cream, iced lemon tea, fried chicken skin, ipoh koay teow soup with steamed chicken, pappa special nasi lemak (2 dishes) with curry chicken & sambal prawn and a toasted haina sandwhich with butter & kaya.

Everything came out pretty quick (could have been because we were the last table or maybe that is just how fast they are). It all looked good and was quite tasty but nothing mind blowing. The drinks were my least favourite, being just ok, the mains were nice but not really special, chicken skin was really crunchy there wasn't really any seasoning on it and the toast was probably the highlight. We didn't know what it was but we wanted to give it a try and it was worth it.

I will go back to try other things since the menu is fairly big and interesting.

So many food choices to choose from! I had to flip the menu pages several times before deciding to order, felt like ordering most of them (oh well I was hungry!) On recent visit we ordered their hainanese chicken rice, roti chanai with curry chicken, teh tarik and barley tea. Food came out pretty quick and portions were generous. Their chicken rice is soo good, especially the rice itself, so fragrant! Roti was flaky and curry chicken was great too. My hubby didn't really like the teh tarik though, said it was too sweet and heavy, but I've enjoyed my barley tea fine cos I know it won't be too sweet.

Papparich is a name that I’ve been hearing everywhere whenever I go out. All of my Malaysian friends say it’s the closest thing they’ve got to food in Malaysia. I finally got the chance to try this place out while I was in the CBD.

Service: 8/10
We were seated soon after we arrived. When we pressed the button to make our order we were ignored for a bit but they soon noticed us. The food was served fast and they were great at paying seperate bills for one table.

Food: 9/10
The roti canai was super crispy and had a great flavour. It was very filling for a cheap price. The curry laksa wasn’t too heavy and everything was incorporated together perfectly. The noodles were the perfect texture but it had a strong lemon smell which I’ve never encountered before.

Ambiance: 8/10
It was quite a hot and humid day and inside the restaurant with the hot food made it feel slightly uncomfortable. The table and layout was all very clean and pleasant. There is a beautiful balcony area which allows a more open environment.

I’m so glad I found out about this place. I will likely become a regular to this franchise and try out all their menu options.

But I was disappointed with how scarce the prawns and chicken were.. there were only two prawn cutlets and a few pieces of chicken.. do keep that in mind when you order. I love noodles so it did not bother me too much and the dish itself is already filling anyway :) Lychee soda and the chicken skin are great as usual :)

Crispy chicken skin has always been my go-to side dish. It was simply deep-fried to perfection and seasoned well.

As this store is always jam packed with eaters, we waited for a good 30 minutes for meals to come. Staff were attentive and efficient.

For their big portions, great taste and price affordability, we would definitely come back here or at Sylvia Park branch in the future.

Delicious and amazing huge menu selection. I have a lot of trouble deciding each time. Roti is usually decent but takes a really long time to prepare compared to other dishes do beware if you're hangry. Its very expensive for one roti! Actually I find that's a general theme - the portions aren't particularly big for the prices which, compared to other Malaysian around Auckland are pretty high to me. On taste alone - crispy chicken skin is delish, beef rendang and chicken curry are decent, egg plant is really yum, as is sambal prawns, any of their fried chicken is addictive, biriyani is very average, their drinks are very delicious, but very very sweet and a meal in themselves. The menu is definitely worth exploring - pick something you haven't tried before and you'll probably love it.

Much talked about Malaysian place in the heart of the city, it was time to give it a try. The experience definitely a happy one. The menu is well thought of includes possibly everything you would find in any Malay restaurant. The portions are huge, none of us could finish our dishes. You almost get tired of eating the dish and lose the excitement of the taste that you got from the first few bites, you know what I mean! The taste very very authentic indeed, takes me back to Singapore food courts to be honest. The only difference is I paid $4 for this there and a whooping $17.90 here. Again, it's the location and the ambiance that adds up in the cost. The service is very friendly and welcoming.Kaya toast was the highlight of the afternoon. They have a set lunch menu ($15.90) which does not include any biryani dishes which was a bummer.
Overall a pleasant experience.

Main:

Assam Laksa
Telur Bawang Chicken Curry
Drink:
Bandung Grass Jelly * the grass jelly is so flavourful
Mango Mania
Matcha Rocks

Price: I always end up spending $23-25 and I still have a take away box in the end.

Came with friends on a Friday night. I ordered Curry Laksa Chicken ($16.50), my friends ordered Pappa Special Biryani Rice ($19.50), Nash Lemak Curry Chicken($16.90) and Toast with Kaya and butter ($6.90)

Time: My curry laksa chicken came 5 mins after ordering so it was surprisingly fast👍🏻 the other two main meals ordered came within 10 mins so it was efficient
Toast came when we were half way through our main meals.

Food: I really like curry laksa chicken. The soup is not spicy despite the red colour and it is rich in flavour. The egg noodles completely absorb the flavour of the soup. The toast is thick, crispy outside and soft inside. Haven't tried kaya sauce before but it is sweet! It actually tastes like red bean paste in Asian dessert. Butter is savoury so adding kaya and butter on the toast will give you an interesting taste but it's a good combination. Didn't tried the other two main meals but my friends said they taste a bit too salty.
The portion size is huge! If you are having a dessert or snacks, make sure you share it with friends!

Price: papparich is kinda at the pricey side of the spectrum so I don't usually come here to eat (coz I'm a poor Foodie...) but the laksa tastes so nice so that $16.50 is worth investing. I found the toast a bit expensive as $6.90 for a piece of toast and a bit of kaya🤔🤔

Taste was quite good and chicken was quite tender but I think for what it was priced (if I remember correctly something like $16-17) it's not worth it. The portions are too small for this price and you can definitely get better at other places (eg. Selera and Kk).

Apparently I'd been under a rock all this time since everyone I know had been here already. So naturally I had fairly high expectations when the wifey choose this for our date night.

Arriving for an early dinner at 5pm, we found the place still buzzing with people. Menu was extensive with plenty of familiar Malaysian dishes and couple of little gems. My eyes lit up when I saw the Milo Godzilla. We ordered the food by writing down what we wanted on a card provided and ringing the buzzer. Staff were friendly and our food and drinks arrived in no time.

I ordered the Sea Food Laksa and wifey got the Prawn mee. We also ordered the Fried chicken wings and I got to have my Milo Godzilla. We both found the taste met our expectations and they came in healthy sized portions. I especially enjoyed my Milo drink. Prices were reasonable, most of the main dishes were between $15-20, you can't expect less from a place in the heart of the city.

We left thinking we will definitely return to try some of the other goodies they have on the menu. Great place for a casual date or a lunch/dinner with friends.

Been here quite a few times since it opened and it never fails to deliver in terms of service, food and atmosphere. So much so it is a regular eating place for us when in town. It is also just how we like it....nothing too flash or expensive. Always we have found it busy but not busy enough we have had to wait for a table when entering. Love the way of ordering....write down the corresponding number to match the dish you want from menu on the paper provided, press the buzzer and the paper is taken away. Usually , in fact always have found the orders are out on table in good time. On this occasion my better half ordered the Pappa deep fried chicken skin ( as not too hungry ) and I the Hainan curry chicken chop. To wash it all down I ordered a Teh C special, she a Longan milk honey iced. As always the order came out before you knew it and sampling her order of the chicken skin I found them to be just as crispy as they should be, not undercooked nor overcooked. As for the curry chicken , which I think I had before. I'm not usually a big fan of curried anything so you won't find me in Indian restaurants and so the only time I would try a curry dish would be here. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the curry sauce delicious and all the other " elements" on the plate though basic ; egg, rice & veges; all cooked well. All in all very tasty. As for my beverage of the Teh C special. Very refreshing!. You'll never go wrong if you come here for lunch or dinner. Very much recommend

TL;DR: A little disappointed flavour wise. Good place for large groups for both spacious areas and food sharing. Recommended: A drink or Laksa?
Came here with two other friends after an exam for lunch. Here's how it went:

FOOD:
The three of us each ordered a main dish. We ordered the Pappa Chicken Rice with Steamed Chicken (my order), Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang, and a Pappa Asam Laksa. Presentation was fairly appetising, if not a little messy. I found myself fairly disappointed with the Chicken rice - I couldn't taste any garlic, ginger, or chicken stock, and the rice was severely overcooked to the point of mush. The bean sprouts, despite having dressing, didn't have much of a taste either. The chicken had a light and clean taste, though the pieces soaking in the sauce seemed a bit sweet. I really like the chili sauce that came with it though, which was excellent with the chicken. According to my friends, their dishes were 'average' - nothing really wowed them like they had expected.

PRICE:
The prices are just slightly higher than other places selling similar food. For three main dishes, our bill came to a total of $50.90, though I had a coupon for a free main dish which brought the total down to $34.40. They also had a new 'combo' menu, where you can order a main dish, a drink, snacks, and desserts at a slightly cheaper price. I think this would be a good option when ordering food to share with a big group - perhaps I'll give this a try next time with a larger group.

SERVICE:
The waiters are efficient and prompt. Within seconds of walking up to the door, we were acknowledged, seated, and had the menu and ordering process explained to us. I really liked the way to order; we were given a very well-made menu, and each table had a form the customers fill out with their desired order, quantity, remarks, which is then collected by the waiter upon pressing the call button on the table. This is great, especially for big groups where everyone is usually indecisive. The food came out really quickly, everything within 10 minutes of ordering.

AMBIANCE:
The place is a lot larger than I expected, and is usually really busy during the lunch rush. I wasn't expecting such a well decorated and spacious area, but that's what we got and I'm happy with it. I absolutely love the look of the menu - the photos are extremely well chosen and the menu itself is well crafted and useful. I don't think I've ever seen a menu as good as this one.

Overall, I'm ever so slightly disappointed, but I would love to give PappaRich another chance. The drinks seem fairly appealing too. Next time, I would definitely order something else in hopes of getting more flavourful food. This place seems to be good for big groups!

Large range of Malaysian dishes all for a decent price. Portions are large and drinks are lovely

Ordered the congee with steamed chicken that was lovely (portion was big and sadly I couldn't finish it)

The Milo dinosaur drink brought me back to my milo-filled childhood. It was lovely :)

Came here with the group of 17 people. Ordered all sort of foods but I just ordered Papa Fried Rice Noodle, found it really nice and spicy. Finished that in few minutes. For drinks tried the Soya Milk Coffee ice blended, found this good too. Did order the mantau with kaya and butter, again that was really nice. Somehow i found this resto nice. Perhaps that was my lucky day? 😇🙏🕺 Anyway recommended and will come back.

This was my first time here, the food and the portion sizes were really good. They don't do bookings so going for lunch from work is very risky cause they do seem to get busy. Today their eftops machine was broken and they decided to tell us this after we were all settled in and placed our order. Luciky, they did say we could do an online transfer (inconvenient but better than sending us out to get some cash I must admit). The staff did not bother explaining how their ordering system works properly and in general some of the staff looked extremely unfriendly with the do not talk to me look slapped on their faces.

Great Malaysian food. Very large portions so I find that one main is usually enough for two people. Love their Nasi dishes. Served very authentically with poppadoms and sambar. The gravy is very rich and full of flavor. It's hidden close to event cinemas on Queen Street above the food court and is easy to miss. Easier to find if you enter through Aoetea Sq.

Stuff there were super friendly and helpful. They are all very welcoming and always ready to help their customers.

I ordered Chicken Curry Laksa & Tropical Lime, both were fantastic! Portion was generous, everything in the Laksa was cooked to perfection! The vanilla ice cream on the drink was fabulous!

Will definitely go back with friends& family!

I have been here many times and have yet to be disappointed. Exciting how there's so much variety. Love the roti canai and the accompanying selection of dipping curries! Char kuay teow had that wok smokiness and well-seasoned. Wat tan hor (hor fun) was delicious, gooey but didn't get curdled at all. Chilli pan mee we agreed was not really as authentic (different noodle texture and size), a bit spicier, but was enjoyable nonetheless. Curry laksa was creamy and rich, but not the best in my opinion. Assam laksa and Hainanese chicken rice were one of the better ones in Auckland. Sago dessert with gula melaka and coconut cream was a great way to finish off the meal. Their drinks tend to be a little sweet but they are usually accommodating if you write some preferences on the comment section of the order slip.

Service is fast and friendly. The write-your-order-on- a-slip system is very efficient. I like the ambience as it feels like its own unique lively space, what with it being crowded and all the chatter. The place is also spacious, well-kept, and cozy. They usually seat you quickly enough, but I have only come here in relatively small groups of up to 4.

Malaysian food is all day favvvvv! Lovely food with lovely Malaysian staffs but I had to say, nothing ever beats the best authentic Malaysian food in Malaysia.... I miss home! Laksa was pretty good but it was too rich for me as too much coconut milk was added and I can't taste any single spiciness in it. I might have too high expectation for it!

If you are wanting some quick but authentic malaysian food I will highly recommend you to hit up PappaRich.

The servings are big and service is pretty quick.

I ordered the crispy noodles which is my personal fave. Their take of it is a bit different. The gravy has a distinct taste that is quite acquired. But I still enjoyed it.

The dish I was surprised with is the chicken with noodles. It was soooo tasty. Even though it looks pale it was yummy.

Portions are very decent for price, service is really attentive and friendly too!
However I'm not too big of a fan on the cinnamon seasoning on the rice, so I might opt for noodle dish or curry next time.
Their chicken skin is pretty good! Good portion and exactly what you would imagine!

This place is recommended by my friends so we went there about four times. 6 people, four times, every time we try something new and we share our dish. So I think I can provide a detailed comment here haha.

It is a nice place for friends chatting with a nice meal, not to mention it is just right beside the cinema. Clean, tidy, friendly atmosphere, quiet a lovely place to go.

Main dish:
R01 rice with steamed chicken is nice. Chicken tastes light and soft, really similar with Singapore's famous Hainanese chicken with rice.

I had some other meals too. They are nice but ehh they tastes no much different.

They have a beautiful menu. But if you take a further look, you will find there are not much choice as they look. All they got are 3 kinds of rice, 2 special sauce, chicken leg or chicken breast, prawn. Most meals are combination of these materials. And another problem is the taste is influenced too much by spice. Both taste and smell are full of spice so i think it is a little bit too much.

So four times of our experience, OUR feeling is they have nice food, but most main dishes taste almost the same. Except the R01 steamed chicken haha.

Btw, the rice they got, are rice, coconut rice, and rice made with special Thai spice. They coconut rice is a bit salty. Thai spice rice ehhh taste dry and full of spice smell so it won't be my choice next time.

As to the side dish:
They are all good. Especially the fried chicken skin with sweet chili sauce.

Drinks are perfect. I love every drink I ordered. If one day I sit back in this lovely place, I must be come to the drink haha.

Main dish: 3.5 biggest problem is most dishes taste the same.
Side dish: 4.5
Drink: 5 perfect drink haha

This was the first proper Malaysian that i tried.. the Roti Canai is to die for.. its flaky, crispy, crunchy.. they serve it with daal and curry and both tastes good.. daal has got good galic flavour.
I had jaamine rice with curry chicken and sambal prawns.. didnt like the sambal prawns.. they were not spicy and didnt feel thy were properly cooked. It had a smell of burnt soy that turned me off.. chicken curry was nice. Chicken was a bit spicy, juicy.. nd best part it was boneless therefore easy to eat. My husband ordered red curry chicken with biryani rice and eggplant.. he was not happy with his plate as chicken was sweet!! He loved the roti canai and ordered another one. He ordered the one with egg in it.. that satisfied his tummy.

The ambience is good.. service is quick, but i think it just depends on what u order. I would like to go there again to try thein noodle dishes.

Went to this place earlier tonight with little expectations and was blown away by how great the food was! I ordered a curry chicken nasi lemak and also a glass of milk tea. I also quite like their ordering system where you don't get pressured in ordering your food quickly. Only reason why I didn't give this place a 5 rating was because my friend's roti did take a little longer to come out of the kitchen but that was probably because Saturday is their busiest night of the week. I do recommend this place!

It was our first time to try Paparich. We noticed a queue to get in nd took a chance that maybe there will be a table for two straight away. There was! We were seated immediately. Service is polite and quick. This is however not a restaurant to go to if you're after experience. You have to write down your own order and table number and give it to the waiter yourself. You won't get any form of contact with the waiters/waitresses only until you walk to their counter to pay. The interior makes you feel like you're "at home" because of the beautiful cupboards and light bulbs.

FOOD: Curry noodle Laksa was great! Unfortunately the pepper chicken chop we ordered tasted like it was deep fried too long and didn't taste any special at all. It isn't worth $18. It's literally just a piece of almost burnt deep fried chicken, rice, an over-cooked egg with cheap veggies on the side. The pepper chicken taste was bland and we have had better for less than $12 elsewhere. Maybe we will give it another go.. but was a little bit disappointed.

Mmmm....PappaRich is real comfort food, especially for the hidden Singaporean in me.

The restaurant has a good atmosphere and the premise is very modern and clean.
We tried several traditional dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Roti Chennai, Roti with egg, Biryani and Bandong. The Nasi Lemak with chicken curry and sambal prawns was great. Lovely combination of flavours and great to see fried Ikan bilis and peanuts to add the extra crunch. I would have preferred more coconut in my rice but that is just a personal preference. The sambal accompaniment was a bit sweet but worked well over all. Be aware the sambal is very spicy. Good thing we had Bandong on hand, a refreshing rose flavoured drink. The Rotis were good too but not spectacular.

Overall a good substitute for the real thing. Will definitely try again.

I’ve been here twice and loved my experience both times. The portions are big, the food is flavourful, and the staff are generally very nice. Catering for the South East Asian community in NZ, PappaRich is a much more authentic and down-to-earth option compared to trendier places like Madam Woo or Mekong Baby. The only point of warning I’d give is that the queues can be long during peak times (e.g. 7pm Saturday), which is a testament to this restaurant’s quality and popularity.

For starters, you could have their Roti Chanai (naan bread with dipping sauces) or Kaya toast – which looks simple but is surprisingly tasty.

I would recommend their Nasi Lemak for first timers, as it’s made of up a range of things all on one plate: coconut rice, boiled egg, cucumber, curried meat, anchovies, and nuts. It sounds like a weird combination, but it totally works!

My Malaysian friend didn’t find the Pan Mee to be as authentic as what she’s used to back home – but it wasn’t anything we would warn people away from. Their chicken laksa and curry noodles were surprisingly not too spicy, so even people who tend to shy away from such dishes (like me) should give them a go.

They also have a huge range of drinks (including dessert-type ones), so there won’t be any shortage of new things to try each time you visit.

Overall, PappaRich ticks a lot of boxes when you’re looking for Malaysian food in the city outside of a food court. Can’t wait to go again!

If you want to have some fine dining in a low budget at the same time you are craving for Asian-Malaysian cuisine with a good taste in the Auckland CDB(Queen Street),Then this restaurant is a famous Malaysian outlet from Malaysia and is known for its great food and ambiance.I don't like spending a lot but love enjoying great food.I figured out about this restaurant which is inside Imax SkyCity Metro Food court, It is in a separate section so you can enjoy because they have their own restaurant set up and the best thing about the service is as soon as you go the waitress will give you a paper and pencil to write down the DishCodes from the Menu you wish to order and then each tables have a calling bell so you can just hand over your Order paper to the Waitress. Their portions are huge and sufficient for one person.
We tried their Biryani served with Eggplant Sambal,Prawns and Fried Chicken.
Then we tried their famous Chicken Roti Chanai served with Indian style Daal(Lentil curry) and chutney.
For Desert we tried their Sago Pudding and Egg Caramel Sago Pudding.
We also tried a Drink which was Sesame Ice cream on Soy Milk, because you will notice a lot of people order a variety of Drinks and this made us more tempted to try one. They have a wide variety of Beverage Menu to choose from Coffee,Tea milkshakes to fresh Juices.

Pappa Rich is tucked in the back of the Event Cinemas complex. We arrived for lunch just after 12pm and got a table with a high chair straight away. Service was fine and the food arrived in good time. We ordered a seafood laksa(nice heat, noodles al dente, good flavour), char kway teow and a plate of wonderfully sinful deep fried chicken skin pieces(which the kids loved ;)). We asked for the kway teow to be not spicy so the kids could eat it so I can't comment on the heat level. But it lacked enough wok char flavour and probably a little seasoning too. I'd be curious to try some of the different dishes, especially the curries

I don't know why this place has a lot of bad reviews... I thought the place was not bad at all. Sure it is not the most authentic malaysian cuisine and you really can't compare to the food you eat in malaysia, but to be fair the taste of the food was not too far of the mark.

I like how you get quite a large selection from their menu. And they have all those malaysian/indonesian drinks that reminds me of home.

So we went there for an early dinner. We were hungry and we ordered a few things from the menu. I have to say I really enjoyed their crispy chicken skins and their roti chanai! The nasi lemak was not the best, I thought the rice was not as tasty and it was a little hard and cold but the sambal eggplant and the fried chicken that came with the nasi lemak were awesome!

The service was friendly and very efficient. You basically fill in the form and ring your bell, they will come to pick up your order and voila! Those glorious food arrived within minutes.

When I mentioned to a Malaysian friend that I wanted to try some authentic Malaysian food, she took me to PappaRich as apparently it's the closest to food back in Malaysia.

We went on a Friday night and waited for a few minutes for a table. We got a couple of iced coffee drinks, the chicken curry laksa, Roti Telur with Curry Chicken, and another chicken rice dish that I cannot recollect. It came with rice, curry chicken, salad, sambal, fried peanuts and a boiled egg.

Service was quick and the food was good. The laksa was my favourite dish. The curry/soup was coconuty, spicy and perfect for a cold winter night. Special mention to the tofu in the laksa. It was so so flavourful and bursting with juices. Yummm.

The Roti was layered with egg and typically Malaysian Roti-delicious and I could eat endlessly. It came with curry chicken, sambal and dal. Great dish.

It's moderately priced with good portions. I would definitely return here.

Papparich is one of the best Malaysian restaurants I've been to in Auckland. Centrally located in town, it's interior and ambiance is a lot better than other restaurants of its kind.

We always order Seafood Laksa & Roti Canai for mains and Egg Sago Pudding for dessert. The soup of the laksa is very rich and full of spices. The noodles are also cooked to perfection and they are generous on the toppings - with fried eggplant I like the most. What I like about the Roti Canai is it's roti - far better than others. But the chicken curry is just okay, I find Selera's curry better. The Egg Sago Pudding is a must try! Very nice combination of pudding, tapioca and sweet coconut sauce.

Great value for money so definitely coming back!

First of all, the pros: Great interior design and restaurant set-up, good atmosphere, awesome range of drinks and desserts, lovely music (they were playing smooth, relaxing music like Don McLean's Vincent, Minnie Riperton's Loving You and Norah Jones' Dont Know Why) and an aesethetic menu.

In turns of the food, I have to say that I've had tastier Malaysian in Auckland so it wasn't as good as I expected. My favourite of all the dishes I had was the freshly made flat bread with red onions and egg fillings - those were YUM! I would go back just for the flatbread only and also to try all the drinks/desserts :)

We ordered 4 dishes and two drinks and it came to $73 so about $20-$22 per person if you also order drinks.

Ah yes, finally, a restaurant that not only sells great Malaysian food, but uses a unique ordering style that is exhibited in many asian-cuisine restaurants across the SE and Northern Asian region. You pick the food you want, write it down on a slip of paper (the corresponding menu item reference number), and then buzz the server with a little button on your table. No more sitting there wondering when someone will come by, no more trying to remembering everything that you and your friends want to order. I have been here no less than four times.

Make sure you get the Canai Kaya, because your life depends on it. Sweet and delicious bread that I wish I could just buy on the street - they warn you that it takes about 20 minutes to make, but every succulent bite is worth it. They also serve a mean Mocha Ice Cream.

The Oriental Chicken Chop looks huge on the menu, but is actually quite small - admittedly some of their images are a little misleading when it comes to judging portion sizes. The Vegetarian curries are great if you're trying to stave off the meat.

PappaRich are a popular restaurant and get packed out very easily, but I have never had problem getting a table for two. The staff always seem a bit flustered and stressed but their ordering system makes it a bit easier for them, I would hope.

Pappa Rich is amazing! Ordering system
Is great, service is great, meals arrived fast and the food is delish!!

I ordered two mains the first the I got there cos I got told how delicious their roti was -and damn right it was! So light and crispy. I also got their laksa. And that wasn't bad either. Love how their meals weren't ridiculously spicy. Even though it states "mild", most places are spicy AF.

Their drinks selection was pretty enticing too! Just wanted to try one of everything! Will definitely have to come back for their desserts too. The price range is reasonably cheap. Would eat here every night if I could! 😋

Only downfall is that it closes way too early -even when their site says 9pm or 9.30pm they won't let anyone in 30-45mins prior to closing which defeats the purpose of "closing at xxx time" 🙄😐

Ordered chilli ban mee and my husband ordered nasi lemak with curry chicken. For the chilli ban mee, the flavour was pretty good, the combination of the eggs, anchovies, minced chicken and chilli was good. However, as you can see from the photo, the amount of chilli given was pathetic. The name of the dish is CHILLI ban mee but the chilli plays only a very small part of the dish. When i asked for extra chilli, i was told that i have to pay extra. They don't give you enough of whats promised on the menu and when you ask for more, you gotta pay. Felt kinda cheated by the menu. In the end, i took some sambal chilli from the husbands dish and chopped chilli padi from our friend's in order for the dish to be truly spicy. When i ordered chilli ban mee, i expected tons of chilli so it was very disappointing for me. Another negative thing about this dish is that the noodles are pretty dry, so thought itd be good if they could provide a small bowl of soup on the side in order for the customers to 'wet' their noodles since noodles do soak up liquid pretty quickly. The noodles are also very thick and doughy so its like eating dry dough - not nice at all. I wouldn't order that dish again if you ask me.

As for my husbands nasi lemak with curry chicken, he said he'd rate it a 7/10. Didn't try his dish but it looks good :)

Great spot with some of the best Malaysian food in Auckland.

One thing I love about PappaRich is the ordering process: You write down what you want on a piece of paper and ring the bell to get the waiter to take your order to the kitchen.

Highly recommend the Chilli Pan Mee!

We are PappaRich addicts. As you can see from the piccies, we probably been here more than a dozen of times since it opened. Authentic Malaysian food, great range of dishes, drinks and desserts. Price a bit on the higher side but portion generous. Service is ok and can be improved with employing more people on peak hours maybe? They all running around so much sometimes we had to press the bell many times to summon someone. We tried many different things on the menu from wantan hor, different rotis with curry, briyani rice, laksa, nasi lemak, hainanese chicken, ipoh noodles, kaya toast etc... So far they haven't dissapoint with exception to char kway teow which we are not a big fan of, were expecting wide rice noodles. Overall highly recommended to others. Great casual place to hang out for all ages.

I was really surprised to see this restaurant in the metro! Malaysian food is hard to find in the CBD, and I was very excited to come and try laksa for the first time.

I really liked the big portions, and I liked the laksa that I had- creamy, and not that spicy. The fried chicken skins were crispy, although a bit dry- thank god we had dipping sauce. The drinks are expensive but I just wanted to try it. Nothing phenomenal. And chicken nuggets with chips are exactly what you'd expect which is good- it's very sad when those things are underwhelming.

Very keen to go back and try more!

Deliscious food and great friendly service. One of my favourites! I come here practically every week! I wanna try everything and everything I've tried is yummy 😄

They have very delicious cold drinks too, perfect for hotter months. My favourite drink is the Tropical Lime drink! Very refreshing for summer 😋

Their vegetarian sambal (a type of chilli / hot sauce) is to die for, it's too bad you'd have to pay for some hot sauce with your dish.

I came here expecting a long wait but it wasn't actually too bad, we were seated and then explained to how to order.

A good menu with a lot of options which is great but not when you can't decide what you want! Everything is reasonably priced with good portion sizes.

I ended up getting a fried noodle dish and we shared a roti canai with chicken curry. My friend's and I all really enjoyed our food. I tried some of my friend's laska and it was really good.

Great, affordable, authentic food.

I love this place. Been here several times and am actually craving it while I writing this up.
I get the roti canai every time I go - that curry and sambal sauce is amazing and the roti is so flaky.
I've had noodles and fried rice here and I've loved it all - maybe found the rice a bit oily.
More recently had laksa - such a huge bowl but sooooooo delish. Perfect on a cold night.
Like the ordering system too and get food really quickly.

My partner and I have been to PappaRich about 5 times now, and every time we go the food is delicious. The chicken laksa is amazing, and in particular the eggplant that comes with it pairs really well with the rest of the dish. I wish there was more of it and I don't even like eggplant! The roti canai is fantastic as well, though be warned it can take longer to make than the rest of the dishes, presumably because they make the roti on the spot? Either way, it's well worth the wait. The roti is crispy but soft on the inside, the curry that comes with it adds a lovely deep flavour, and the sambal adds a really nice kick to the dish. Overall a really excellent place to eat, friendly service, nice atmosphere, great food and most of all pretty cheap!

I have been waiting to go there since they opened. Finally got a chance and went there for lunch on Easter. They have a very good menu design, which separates rice dishes, roti dishes, breads and noodles.

Service was really good, we got seated and been given an order chit to write the numbers from menu. I ordered a Beef Rendang with Nasi Lemak. It is a beef curry with coconut rice served with peanuts and anchovies on the side. Everything was good except for the curry itself. It wasn't bad, but it was just okay.

Overall the experience was quite good.

After hearing so many good things about PappaRich we finally managed to visit this place yesterday.

The ambience is mediocre and the seatings are too close to each other. The ordering system is unique but old fashioned.

Staff are friendly and the service is quick.

You have a large variety of dishes available on their menu but the drinks are amazing too.( teas, juices etc.)

Overall a decent experience. I don't mind coming back to PappaRich again.

■ Super speedy service
■ Good portion sizes
■ Good value for $$

■ Very Busy
■ Service could be improved

Real authentic Malaysian food! Right in the heart of Queen Street - In the Metro so bunched up next to Oko/the movies/ minigolf and that whole chain of restaurants around that area. Hearty, big portions and so very good bang for your buck since the prices are pretty reasonable as well. The menu is very self explanatory and there is a huuge selection but I opted for the Chicken Laksa this time. It was really flavoursome  but could have been spicier. We also got the chicken skins as a side out of curiosity haha.

The first thing I noticed was probably how incredibly fast the service is! Like wow, Im pretty sure the food arrived in what felt like within 5 minutes of ordering. I also quite liked their little ordering system where you write down your menu code and press a button and they arrive to take your orders. The Laksa and Prawn Mee were great. A must try here would probably be the Roti Canai and anything out of their bread range - didn't get to try their bread menu but this is definitely on my list for next time!! The staff could have been more welcoming/friendlier but overall good, clean and fast service. Has a nice vibe and great selection to choose from so would recommend for sure!

Tried this out after hearing so many good stories about it. Situated in the imax building, the deco was very modern. Seating was your typical Asian fast food outlet style. We were greeted at the entrance by friendly staff who took us to our seats. The place was packed so it was lucky we got a table straight away.
The menu had a lot to choose from. We were spoilt by choices in both mains and drinks selection. One thing we had to try out was the deep fried chicken skin which to my surprise was not oily at all.
For the prices charged, the quality of food definitely outruns it. However, if you are looking for very authentic Malay food, this is probably not the place.
I would definitely be back to try out the other mains and drinks.

Let's put aside the taste bud score sheet for a moment, it is great to see a Malaysian food franchise in NZ! More options for the Kiwis without having to travel offshore.

Friday night I have finally met this restaurant's famous crazy long queue. No table booking services but if you look on the bright side this place cannot be a bad choice, since when was the last time you've seen a queue like this for dinning at a restaurant in Auckland?

We've ordered a bowl of chicken soup noodles, curry chicken with garlic bread and an ice milk coffee. The flavours of the chicken soup noodles was better and richer than expected.

I particularly enjoyed the curry chicken with garlic bread the most. Aside from the great curry flavour, the garlic bread balances the heavier spices quite well. It was relatively addictive. If you have a bigger appetite where you can comfortably finish a bowl of soup noodles by yourself, then you may need to consider to order two of these garlic bread set. I did find the ice milk coffee a little too creamy sorry but i still thinks the Viets is doing a better job on milk coffee.

The restaurant had provided us a good customer service experience, comfortable clean environment, fair food proportion and pricing. There are so many delicious food on the menu, can't wait to return for more

I was excited to try PappaRich, and luckily we went quite early so we only had to wait 5-10mins. The service was good - the waiter asked if we had been here before, and when we said no he explained in detail the menu and ordering system.
We shared 4 meals between 3 people - we were worried if this would be too much, but no, the portions are quite small so we finished everything no problem.

Seafood laksa was yum, especially the fried eggplant inside.
Fried noodles were a disappointment - you can get the same dish at other places which are bigger, nicer, and cheaper.
Chicken rice was ok but pretty salty.
Roti canal was good but need more roti!

The way they've set up the restaurant at imax is pretty cool, similar to overseas malls. I don't know if I'll come here again though, there are heaps of other local Malaysian restaurants which are better. You're probably just paying for the brand at PappaRich.

Second visit to PappaRich restaurant. This is one of the Malaysia hawker fast food style restaurant.

They serve many specialties originated from Malaysia such as Assam Laksa, Ipoh hor fun (flat rice noodle in clear soup base with pulled chicken pieces), roti canai with curry, wantan noodle, curry noodle, prawn noodle (Hokkien mee), Nasi Lemak, char koay teow and fried noodle mamak and many more.

The restaurant has many seating but to avoid disappointment please go earlier than normal lunch and dinner time.
The have the order system of you decide what to order from the menu then write them on the order list and press button to get the staff to confirm your order.
Many staff but not all very experience.

The food is good. The prices of beverage are consider expansive.
I like the Ipoh hor fun, curry laksa and Assam laksa (although not up to Penang laksa standard but it was considered good in NZ cause they may be be able to find all ingredients needed to boil the soup base).

This is a great example of how to do a restaurant right. I had an amazing experience here with the beautiful food and great service. I will definitely be back with more people to share the experience and try out more of the menu.
We had the sambal eggplant sides, nasi lemak and crispy chicken skin as our starters. All very flavoursome and were seasoned well.
For drinks we ordered the kope tarik (ice milk coffee) which is a traditional malay drink and a coconut shake - which had real coconut bits in it too! For mains I had the papa mee (me goreng) which was one of the best I've ever had. The tomato based paste in it was balanced so well, and just a tiny squeeze of lemon made this meal amazing. My friend had the curry chicken with rice, which was also a very good dish and was very rich.
Highly recommended this place, if you love Malaysian food and want an authentic experience.

This place is not easy to find but once you find it you will that it is quite a small area but they try and maximise the amount of tables to ensure they can fit as much people as they can. I was lucky enough to get a table within a few minutes despite the restaurant being very full and the waiter made sure that we knew how to use the ordering system since in this restaurant we write down the orders ourselves and just press a button to notify the staff that we are ready. I quite like the process of this since we would not need to wait for someone to take our order and it takes longer saying our orders especially if there were a lot of people in one table.
They cook to order and you can see through the glass window and the food came very quickly (under 10 minutes). However, it would have be better if the orders came in together or around the same time at least.
To be honest this place doesn't have the best Malaysian food, it is slightly bland compared to other Malaysian restaurants I have been to that have a lot more kick and authenticity. The portions are reasonable, slightly on the pricey side and if you get a rice dish expect to get a lot of rice compared to meat.
We got, Curry Seafood Laksa, Hainan Curry Chicken Chop, Beef Rendang, And Nasi Lemak all which cost under $20.
I would probably come here again and try other dishes that they have to offer.

I have go to this restaurant regularly with my family and friends ever since they opened. I have tried dishes such as char keoy teow, wa tan hor, assam laksa, roti canai, prawn mee noodles, ice kachang and  teh tarik(hot & cold). I loved all of  those dishes and beverage except for prawn mee. It was lacking flavours and tasted quite blend. The rest of the food were served with authentic flavours and remind me of my  home country every time I dine in.
In addition, the customer services are friendly, helpful and quick which is always good as it tends to be busy on the weekends. Whenever I dine in the weekends, it requires 10-20 minute waiting time and weekday is usually empty with no queues.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you want to experience the authentic flavours of Malaysian food.

PappaRich is by far my favourite Malaysian place in Auckland and is the closest thing I can find that replicates the taste of Singapore and Malaysian food from back home. This too is apparent in its long queues and bustling atmosphere. Although the wait time for a table may put off some, it's always proven worth it once my hainanese chicken rice gets placed in front of me. I've eaten at PappaRich over in Melbourne and loved the food there, so was very excited to here that they've opened up here in NZ!

This is my second visit, and I can say the drinks are the good, just like over in Melbourne. Today I had the Coconut slushie with coconut flesh and boy was it delicious! I'd gladly come back just for this!!!!
This is a very busy restaurant and tables fill up quickly, each occasion (previous dinner and today lunch) I've come the place is packed, with people lining up waiting to be seating.

The roti is delicious but must be eaten whilst it's hot or it goes hard. The sambal is spicy goodness as it should be, and the curry chicken is beautiful! I greatly appreciate that the chicken didn't have any bones!
I would say this isn't the best Malaysian restaurant, but it has a diverse menu that caters to vegetarians as well with a nice drinks menu. Along with being a modern and clean facility with friendly staff. . I'd gladly come back and try more things on the menu, hopefully they'll open up another branch closer to home ☺️

I'm a Malaysian and growing up in Malaysia, I've tried it all and just love food in general. I visited Pappa rich and tried the fried kuey teow, roti kaya (delicious bread with coconut based jam) and a Malaysian drink called teh tarik. Teh tarik has been around for a long time and it means "pulled tea" where a skilled person would pour it back and forth, as far apart between 2 mugs. This drink was obviously made with some sort of powder or mixture which had been stirred. You could taste the two extreme tastes( sweet and bitter) every time you took a sip.
The fried kuey teow has been a favourite of mine since I was a little girl. The one that I had here was a bit light in colouring, as it usually has a darker shade of brown due to the sauces that they use, but upon tasting it, it was delicious and authentic in flavour.
The roti kaya was heavenly, the bread and kaya were authentic in flavour and texture. I would like to come back again to try down more dishes.

Where to start and what to say? Even an unqualified amateur diner like myself can be flumoxed. With its bizarre name and obscure location you can't help wonder what is going on, however incredulously this place is continuously packed. (Neighbouring Coffee Club and Viva Italian were ghost towns with one dining couple between the two of them...)  It's almost like the Malaysian community zeroed in on this restaurant. It's a large fitout with plenty of tables, and lets you take your own order from a graphic menu, then buzz the waiter with an on-table ringer. Perfect for choosing quickly and getting what you want. Some of the items on the menu are a bit odd (french toast anyone?) but overall I was impressed. Even though my order looked nothing like the one in the menu (see photos below), it tasted sensational. Definitely worth returning for, and take along your rich papa.

My girlfriend and I visited this place three days ago and, to be honest; the experience was spectacular!
The staff who took us to our table was really kind and explain everything, from the way they take the order to give us recommendations on the menu. We understand he couldn't stay with us longer because it was a busy dinner time.

We ordered the chicken skin for the appetizer. Pappa Prawn Mee and Chilli Pan Mee for the main. And Egg Sago Pudding for the dessert. We also ordered Teh C Special, which my girlfriend missed the most because she is from Melaka and Iced Teh Tarik with Coffee Jelly.

The overall experience of the food was awesome; it's just that the Teh Tarik was a bit sweet for my liking (They explained that I could go from less sweet option by writing a remark that I didn't do).

On top of that, the dining experience reminded me so much of Malaysia. All the fancy looking interior design to the Malaysian accent that I have never felt in any other Malaysian restaurant in Auckland.

Talking about the price, it was affordable for a working professional like me but probably not so affordable for the student.

Overall, I would love to come back again and again. And I am ready to be mind blown by Papparich!

My first visit to Papparich after it being recommended by friends. They had also tried it in Melbourne.
Great setting in the Metro building particularly as it had been vacant for so long. A busy place - but meals come quickly so they must have good systems in place. Nice fit out with booths & tables.
All meals were rated 4/5 by our group for taste & presentation. We ordered the Vege laksa, chicken & rice, beef rendang with roti & chicken nuggets with chips for our young companion.
Meals come when they are ready which is expected - only challenge was that the beef rendang was almost cold by the time the roti came. We were warned of this though.
Have a great selection of drinks which were nice. Would be nice to have a wine & beer selection though as a cold beer is always nice with a curry.
Will be back to try the chicken laksa.

Enjoyed my experience at PappRich! We fortunately came just a bit before dinner time because when the time struck to that, the place was so packed and had a line outside (mind you, it was a weekday as well!). They have a lot of staff on so even though they were busy, the service was still quick and you get attended to right away. It was a good buzzing environment that I enjoyed, reminded me of eating out at restaurants in Asia.

The prices are alright and pretty good depending on what you order. They have soooo many options and range is massive. Quite overwhelming at first and makes it quite hard to choose because it all looked so good! Most had photos as well which I appreciate because it gives you an idea of what you're getting. Me and my friends decided to order fried chicken skin, the roti talur with curry chicken, their char kway teow and the biryani rice with sambal chicken and prawns. For the drinks, which they also had a wide array of choices, my friends ordered the usual teh tarik but I had the soya milk pudding which I really, really enjoyed!

It was quite a feast because the portions are pretty big! The biryani rice with the sambal chicken and prawns were great and so packed with flavours! The char kway teow, although probably not the best one I've tried, was pretty good as well. The roti talur was alright, I think next time we will stick to the regular roti canai because this one was average and I think we had to pay more. The chicken skin, being a big chicken skin fanatic, was initially heaven for me but like all deep fried food, it gets sickening after a bit. Still enjoyed it though! We thought we had ordered too much between the three of us since we were sharing so that just shows how generous they are with portions.

Overall, it's a pretty great place- not as cheap as the other Malaysian places maybe because it is a franchise plus it's the other side of the metro as well. The ambience is great and service is fast. Very worth it to try their biryani dishes with the various meat combos (or eggplant) because it's very good value for money and I thought the flavours were just spot on!

After all the hype, I was expecting great things of PappaRich. I first tried this chain in Australia a few years ago but I think it's a bit more affordable there? The prices at the Auckland Metro were higher than I expected but it's nice that they have so many waiters/food-bussers onsite. The ordering system uses an easier numbering, peeled, and pad system. Once you have noted the menu numbers you want, just press the button on your table when you're ready to place the order. We noticed that lots of people had water brought to their table but we had to ask a few times before receiving any. Unsure if there is a self service water station to help yourself, but if so it was hard to see from where we were seated. We ordered red chicken and sambal prawns with biryani rice, curry chicken laksa, and crispy chicken skins. Food was underwhelming but at least you know you'll get the same standard of quality every time you visit, as it's a big chain. The red chicken and sambal prawns were so sugary - it did not suit my palate. Same with the laksa, quite sweet and not that creamy. I feel like the flavours were toned down or sweetened up just to cater to a wider audience. To their credit, the crispy chicken skins were delicious but it is a large plate to get through. I would love to see a smaller option suitable for individual servings. The only thing I didn't like able the dish was the sweet chilly served with the skins. Any other sauce would have been better - again - because the amount of sugar in the entire meal was overwhelming. Ultimately I'm glad I visited but I still prefer the smaller businesses which serve great quality, authentic Malaysian for a smaller price. See Ngopi or Kampung Style for a similar clean/casual dining experience but owner operated.

Ordered the chicken skin, chicken chop, and the chicken nasi lemak. The service was very fast and the place looked modern and a little fancy compared to other malaysian restaurants. The food was average but filling. I loved the chicken skin, crunchy and not oily.

Malaysian cuisine in the Imax building at Auckland City

Another popular location that I've heard so much about and definitely had to try out! I've been twice and both experiences were pretty much the same. The first time we went, it was around 5:30pm on a Friday so we were seated straight away. We sat near the kitchen and I was on the edge of the sofa the whole time, not very comfortable. Being next to the kitchen had it's perks (watching the chefs make the meal, finding out it is mostly pre-cooked hence why it's so quick) and it's negatives (the loud buzzing machine for orders, lots of hectic waitresses/waiters). I really like their buzzing system though! It's really beneficial if you take forever to decide what you want to eat which is efficient for the wait staff as well. Their menu has lots of different options, it was quite hard to pick what to eat. I decided to try the Teh Tarik Ice and the Pappa Chicken Rice with Steamed Chicken. My friend ordered the Pappa Special Jasmine Rice with Sambal Eggplant, Fried Chicken and Sambal Prawns.

We waited around 5-10 mins so it's definitely quick. The Teh Tarik Ice was quite refreshing and had a hint of coffee in it which I didn't really like but that's probably how it's meant to taste. The Chicken rice was pretty standard; I really liked how the chicken didn't have any bones and it was quite tasty. My friend found his meal pretty average. The prawns and eggplant were all pre-cooked so they were not hot but room temperature which made it soggy. Overall, the first experience was really new and interesting, we enjoyed the ordering system but found the food average.

The second time we went was at around 8pm on a Wednesday night so it was fairly quiet. We were seated on the outside which we preferred much more than next to the kitchen. This time, I decided to try the Oriental Chicken Chop which I also found pretty average. I feel like it's something I could have put together at home so for $17.90, I found it a little steep. My friend ordered the Curry Laksa which he also found average with nothing too special.

Pictures:
- The button you press for a waiter/waitress to come and a notepad to fill out with what you would like to order
- The buzzing machine that shows the table number that has pressed their button/the kitchen on the left hand side
- Teh Tarik Ice/Milk Tea ($4.90)
- Papparich Chicken Rice with Steamed Chicken ($15.90)
- Pappa Special Jasmine Rice with Sambal Eggplant, Fried Chicken and Sambal Prawns ($17.50)
- Curry Laksa ($15.50)
- Oriental Chicken Chop ($17.90)

Overall, Papparich is a really nice restaurant to come with friends and family. The place is pretty much fast food as you only need to wait no more than 15 mins on a busy day and the ordering system is really efficient. The food is pretty average so I probably won't come on a regular basis but I enjoyed the experience. We aren't experts when it comes to Malaysian food so try it out and see for yourself :)

Heard so much about this place and also recommended by friends.  So we came here for lunch.  Not too crowded on that day.  We ordered Curry Laksa, Wat Tan Hor, Prawn Mee and Nasi Lemak and we ordered a variety of drinks.  We were not disappointed coming here.

Generally the food was tasty and definitely tasted Malaysian.  The service was friendly and customer focus.

If you are keen to go for some real Malaysian food, this is the place.

Been recommended by friends that this is a must try Malaysian food. Ordered 3 dishes laksa, nasi lemak and crispy noodle.
The food is surely above average compared to other Malaysia food around auckland. The nasi lemak will taste better if the rice is drier, it's a little soggy. The chicken and prawn taste great and the chilli is authentic. Crispy noodle is quite average, standard taste. Laksa gravy is thick and authentic. I am not a laksa fan though. We also had ice kachiang with ice cream. Recommended

Came here with a few friends. We arrived around 8.30 so there were seats available but during early dinner hours it is packed and you would be lucky to get a seat.

The food tasted delicious, very flavourful and the portions were decent sized, although PappaRich is slightly expensive.

I like their way of ordering - you write down everyones order and hand it to a staff member. Easier and much more organised and no need to rush.

I'm definitely coming back to try their laksa as it is one of my favourite malaysian dishes :)

Great place to stop by for a quick dinner! we had a movie to watch so was fairly in a rush as it was, but the food came out really quick, given how nicely presented each dish was.  I had the tandoori chicken with Roti and it was delicious, tasted great.  The customer service was also on point, the waitress kindly explained to us how the menu works and whether they could get us anything else.  I had a pleasant experience, and will definitely recommend this to family and friends.  Also hoping to make another visit to try out new dishes.  Hope they maintain this level of quality in terms of food and service for a very long time! this restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away in the corner of IMAX.

Papparich has been highly anticipated in Auckland for quite some time.  Well-known amongst Malaysians, we knew that this place gets busy so decided to go along for an early lunch on Sunday.

We didn't have to wait, but the place definitely filled up over the course of our meal.  The service was efficient and friendly, even offering to replace a meal I had ordered incorrectly, even though it was my fault!

The menu is huge and there are plenty of options for everyone.  We enjoyed their char kuay teow which was tasty and had the right 'wok hei' (smoky) flavour (although I was hoping for little crispy pork fat 'croutons' that you often get in the Malaysian hawker versions but was disappointed at their omission here).  Hubby had the biryani rice with sambal eggplant, sambal prawn, fried chicken and poppadum.  He enjoyed this.

We also got a small bowl of the chicken rice for the little one, and this was lovely and fragrant, as it should be.  We tried the fried chicken skins which were salty and crispy, and came in a generous serving.  A bit too much for the two of us to share though!

The drinks selection is also huge.  I got the Milo dinosaur which was a taste of my childhood.  It was great to be able to see into the kitchen so that you could see them pouring the teh tarik from great heights too!

Overall, we enjoyed our meal here, and I'm keen to try more dishes.  We will be back!

The variety in their menu is amazing. The hainanese chicken rice tasted very flavoursome and the drinks are very impressive. I also tried the roti, which i think had a nice sweet buttery taste and a very fluffy texture. Overall, a good place for a casual dinner.

Heaps of variety in noodles, rice and roti  along with a nice presentation in the every dish served here. Food can be spicy for some people who love Thai, Korean or Chinese meal. The price are average considering there are very few malay restra in the CBD. One good point is the seating arrangement which is extremely sober but well planned so that 80-100 people can be accommodated without much hassle. Lunch and dinner times are busiest on weekdays also so i preferred arriving late :).

I absolutely loved my experience at PappaRich!! I've wanted to try it for a while but every time im to looking for a place to eat, the line for PappaRich is always a little too long.

Coming here for dinner (to celebrate our last exam), we were seated straight away, and luckily my friend knew what she was doing so as happy was the waiter was to explain he didnt need to waste his time!! I love the ordering system at PappaRich, it think its a smart, neat and cool idea thats very efficient!! especially because you can order at your own leisure, so if you want to order super quick you can but if you need a lot of time to just look through the menu you can do this too!

For drinks I ordered the Milo Dinosaur, which is pretty much just iced milo and something i really needed at the time!! while my friend ordered the Lychee iced soda and omg that soda was amazing! its not something i could drink massive amounts of but the flavour of the lychee was incredible!!

My friend ordered the N13 (something she orders a lot at Malaysian places) and she it was ok, not what she was use to and something she probably wouldnt order at PappaRich again. I ordered the N15 which is dry noodles with curry chicken and i thought it was amazing!!! I wish the noodles for thicker noodles (but thats just personal preference), the chicken wasn't dry inside at all and all the flavours came together in the best way possible! (something i recommend trying!). Together we ordered the deep fried chicken skin (which sounds a little gross but lets be honest, the best thing about fried chicken is the crispy skin!) and it was amazing, something i will be ordering again when i come back! what i loved about it was it has all the flavours you'd want in fried chicken BUT it wasn't overly oily so you dont feel sick after eating it!

Overall, I had the best experience and I will 100% be returning!

The atmosphere was a buzz; plates transported back and forth as quick as you could blink even though they tell you it could be 20 mins it's actually not that long to wait. Simple but effective concept where you're sat with menu, pencil, order sheet and a buzzer to press when you've selected your meal (s). Once collected and punched into the system you chat and wait.
I ordered the biryani mutton dish and a matcha ice cream and red bean concoction while my friend went for the curry which included the roti, a sweet roti to finish with and fresh iced green tea.
As you are in control of when you order this is an excellent idea especially as its an extremely busy restaurant. Service was polite and with a smile. Presentation simple but nice. Portions slightly on the small side however not badly priced and probably my eyes are bigger than my puku...I wasn't too fussed with my dish. I've had better tasting biryani as this one wasn't an impact flavour buzz for my tastebuds and it tasted old. The mutton was tender and flavoured well though. My choice of drink not to my liking tbh...it wasn't horrible I just wasn't used to drinking red beans.
I'd come back to try other dishes on the menu.

I've always wanted to come here and today was the day! My friend and I came here during lunch hour, and suprising there wasn't really a long line, which was good since I've heard that there's always a long queue. So we were escorted to a table right away. There was so many dishes on the menu, I was absolutely flustered since they all looked so good! After about 10 minutes trying to choose what to order, I decided to go for the Oriental Chicken Chop. We waited for less than 10 minutes for our food to arrive. I was so surprised by that big piece of crispy chicken in that sauce. Portion wise, it's enough to make a big eater like me very full! It was just so good, no words to describe but, DELICIOUS. Even though the price is quite exspensive, today was my first time trying authentic Malaysian food. I usually don't eat spicy food, so the Oriental Chicken Chop was fantastic! I like how efficient the staff are and I like the ordering method. I will come back here when I'm in desperate need of Malaysian food! Very pleased.

Classic chain Malaysian that taste pretty authentic. Love the chicken curry. There is depth and playfulness to it and goes well with the buttery tasting roti prata. The egg roti prata is also pretty yummy and less crispy than the plain one depending on what you are in the mood for. The chicken rice was yummy too but the rice is what's outstanding best one I've tasted in NZ. The char Kuay teow is pretty good too but could do with just a bit more of a spicy kick but all the right texture and flavour. Wash down with sweet condensed milk based ice Milo. I was full, satisfied and happy.

I'm really torn with Papparich. My first experience was average, so I waited until my second visit to see if it would be different before writing a review. On one hand, it's a place I can see myself returning to as it's a really convenient place for a catch up/ group dinner with friends but on the other hand, there's a strong line of contenders in the Malaysian eatery business that it sadly doesn't quite match up to.

First up, the Wat Tan Hor- quite different to any I've had before with a subtle fish sauce aroma to it. Love the wok charred taste to the noodles and how there's plenty of gravy!

Red Chicken with Biryani and Sambal prawns- The first time, it was delicious! The red chicken is really unique and the sauce on the prawns and chicken mixes in well with the rice. However, the second time I ordered it, the biryani was WAY too strong on the spices, it felt like we were eating a chai tea bag with all the cardomom and aniseeds so consistency is a bit of a problem.

Seafood Laksa- Quite a nice seafood range in there, but it was really creamy and salty so it would be nicer if it were diluted more as it was like a seafood chowder consistency which is too thick to be slurp-able with the noodles. Sadly doesn't quite compare with places like Selera and Mamak in this regard as there was little bean sprouts and less toppings too.

Roti with vegetarian mutton- roti was crispy and fluffy!

Soybean milk with longan- Amazing soy milk!! Yes even better than my mum's homemade one (sorry mum). Super creamy and very soy bean-y, it took me right back to childhood. The longan added the right amount of sweetness too.

Soy bean ice blend with pudding and grass jelly- i wanted soy milk again after the brilliant one the first time but this was strangely bland. Waiter was kind enough to add in sugar for me which saved it whew. Would stick to the normal soybean milk though.

Overall, there are strong and weak points which I was sad about because I really wanted Papparich to do well! On both visits, the food came out at really different times too, I was about halfway through my dish when my dining companions' dish came out. Staff are super friendly and efficient, especially with the writing your own order down on the menu and the table buzzer, and there's a huge range for any large groups of people. I would come back for the great atmosphere and drinks for a good catch up!

It's a very flash Malaysian place! Went for lunch on a Friday with my friends (six of us). There were seats for us (as we arrived just before 12) and it became so packed once it hit lunch time.
Food: The good was great! Everyone was happy about their meals. Their spicy is quite spicy for me (I think I'm more used to korean spicy) but my Malaysian friend said it wasn't spicy enough and he had to ask for more chili.

Service: The waiter explained to us how to order and stuff, once ordered the food came very soon! It was perfect as we were all hungry.

Atmosphere: The place is clean and flash (prob Bcoz it's still new), the design of the place looks surprisingly modern, if I walk pass here I might of thought its European restaurant not Asian haha.

I came here with really high hopes, having read so many good reviews. I was equal parts impressed and disappointed. The portions are decent and the prices excellent, and the service was efficient. But I can't say I was that impressed with the food. The roti was waaay too deep fried, the dipping sauces were lacking in much flavour, and the chicken was dry. Maybe we ordered wrong. I'll likely be back , as I'm on a mission to find the best roti in Auckland and I have high hopes that this place CAN deliver!

When you see a resto wth 30 or so tables - each one full... you know they are doing something right!

Flavourful, vibrant Malaysian food with very fair prices. Fantastic menu with something to suit everyone. Definitley one of the nicer Malaysian restos in Auckland. All this tucked away under Imax. More often than not Malaysian food can be unnecessarily oily however here is not the case, the meals are light and healthy.

Highly recommend this place. Can't wait to return and try more of the menu.

Finally - an international chain that's executed with a bit of class. PappaRich was surprisingly delicious, and, a special mention to the way the establishment is set up; the Sky Metro or whatever you call it (the complex with TimeOut and Event Cinemas) is old and tattered, but PappaRich seems to have it bustling with youth again.

My girlfriend and I had the Biryani Rice Red Chicken and Ipoh Kuay Teow Soup. My tip is to skip the biryani rice, as chicken and prawns have enough flavour for you to crave the soft texture of Jasmine rice. The flavours are rich, and beautifully seasoned. Unlike some restaurants, the sauces for the chicken and the prawn (both served on the same dish) are very distinctive and definitely isn't one of those 'once sauce for all' type of dishes.

The Ipoh Kuay Teow is milder, but that's not to say it's bland. If you prefer your bowl to be calm rather than a sandstorm then this is the dish for you. PappaRich's steamed chicken is cooked to perfection - the overall impression for this dish is 'sit down, and relax'.

The menu is extensive, and by the quality of the good I experienced, this is a must-return. Thanks to our waiters on the night, whom were very very pleasant to deal with.

Had dry noodles fried chicken skin, lychee soda for myself and my friend had chicken roti and hot milk tea.

Highlights: speed, service and environment, all excellent standard.

Food:
roti :was the best one I had in NZ, super tasty!

Lychee soda: too much ice

Dry spicy noodles: I thought was egg noodles but turned out to be rice noodles, good sauce but could be better if using egg noodles.

Fried chicken skin: bad quality and too much for two, should reduce the size.

Malaysian milk tea: nice but too small.

Spicy chicken drum: nice one.

Nice choice for Lunch and easy dinner in CBD.

I love Malaysian food, and was so happy to see abother addition in Auckland.
We came here on a Friday for lunch. We waited in line for a while longer than I would have wanted to, not because they were crazy busy yet but because the group of people in front of us couldn't decide where they wanted to sit, they ask you if you want to sit inside or outside - the thing is, what they call "outside" is inside anyway so I don't know why they even ask - anyway- we sat outside.
We ordered Teh Tarik and Milo with coffee in it. Both delicious. For our meals we ordered Nasi Lemak with beef rendang and Roti with chicken curry.
The Nasi Lemak came out very fast but the roti took ages.... it was ok because we were sharing, but it shouldn't happen if the meals aren't shared plates.
Both were absolutely delicious. The roti was the best, comparable to roti I had in Malaysia, crispy flakey and tasty. The curries were full of flavour and the meat tender.
Will be back to try other dishes and the chicken skins.

A large wide of food to choose from and the menu is divided into sections to make it easier to order. We had quite a big group so we pretty much went with one from each section.

The food was hit and miss. Some items were really good like the wan tan hor and fried lai fun, while some were disappointing particularly the char kuay teow. The roti was good. Freshly made and it was both crispy and soft. The byriani chicken rice was ok. Rice was tasty. papadam was stale but the sabmal eggplant was really nice. I ordered a milo dinosaur and it was pretty much just a normal milo (not enough milo piled on top). The desserts were nice, both the roti desserts and the sago one.

Food and service was ok.

Went for dinner last night. Set amongst a new block of restaurants at the back of the Imax food court, this busy restaurant has a bustling diner feel to it. The staff, although seeming slightly rushed, are very friendly and catering, and seated us quickly.

Orders are written down by the patrons on a piece of paper that is taken to the kitchen. Useful, for allowing you to spend time deciding on your meal.. Dangerous, because you end up ordering everything you want plus more.

Food was brought out promptly. We ordered a variety of sides, one of the memorable ones being condensed milk on toast hainan bread- sweet and tasty. I ordered a chicken, prawn, noodle dish ($15.50 for a main) which was slightly too spicy for my standards of "mild", but tasty nonetheless. Friends ordered roti, fried rice, curried chicken, fried chicken skins. All tasty enough for a take away/restaurant, perhaps not as fresh as a fine dining establishment as to be expected.

Overall, well priced, good tasting Malaysian food, with a very large variety on the menu. Perfect for a casual meal out or on the go.

Tried out this place with my family yesterday and promptly learned that they don't take bookings. The place was packed, but we didn't wait too long for seats. The rushed but friendly staff quickly explained the menu ordering system and off we went. Pages and pages of roti, laksa, noodles, curry, drinks, dessert, plus one section devoted to bread! With so much choice, it was ages before we could pick! We spied some crispy chicken skin at one table and knew we had to order those to share. I ended up ordering a plate with chicken, sambal prawn, and eggplant. Couldn't resist and ordered roti with kaya. Also sampled black sesame drink and the sago with egg custard. Everything was nice and the service great. We loved the crispy skin and the rotis. The desserts were great too, but the mains lagged a little behind. "Dear, let's go back to Malaysia!" "Dear, I want to eat Nasi Lemak!" "Dear, why don't you learn to cook nice Malaysian food for me? You don't love me? "   At least one of these sentence comes out from my gf's mouth each day. It makes me feel bad sometimes as we are at overseas and I can't cook good food, the food in some Malaysian cuisine is not authentic enough! . I would like to say thanks to Papparich and would want to congratulate Papparich for their grand opening in NZ, the original Malaysian restaurant franchise .  I brought my girlfriend there last night. We were served well by a waitress.  It was a very interesting experience as we were brought to a table and this made us feel like we were in a fine-dining restaurant. I got myself a Chilli Pan Mee and of course, my wild girlfriend got herself a plate of Nasi Lemak with curry chicken that she has been craving for years.Big portion though! Food came quick, the taste was good.  It would be better if the waiters and waitresses could attend to us right away after we pressed the button once instead of 3 times. But I presumed it was because they were busy. However, the staff were friendly, we enjoyed it very much. We were asked for feedbacks as well when we were paying in front of the cashier which I think Papparich has efficient process in terms of "after sales service". Just to mention one point here that I felt really uncomfortable queueing up in that narrow pathway that everybody just slid through me every single minute. Overall, we enjoyed the food and service very much and it solved my gf's desire on Malaysian food. Now , I don't have to learn cooking anymore!. I definitely will come back again

First impressions of PappaRich were good. Bright and well lit, the restaurant was still full despite it being 9pm on a Wednesday!! The restaurant is a lot bigger than I had imagined with plenty of seating. Staff were really good too!!

We had N17 - Pappa fried rice noodle, R09 - Pappa special jasmine rice which included jasmine rice, sambal eggplant, sambal prawns and a piece of fried chicken and I also had a coconut paradise.

The food was served super quickly, literally 5 minutes after we ordered and it was hot, fresh and yummy. I absolutely loved the sambal eggplant. It was delicious. Pricing wise is a tad pricier than other malaysian joints but for CBD and a good solid meal I think it's definitely reasonable.

I'd be happy to keep coming back 😄

We've tried the ones in Malaysia and Melbourne, why not give Auckland a try?

So we gave it a go:

Papparich always seems to be busy, especially during peak hours. Their ordering system is one where you write the code of the meal you like onto a piece of paper which gives you time to think without the presence of a waiter. There's still the chance to ask for recommendations if you can't decide what to order by pressing the button on the table to call for service. I ordered the wat dan hor and a soy milk with pudding and grass jelly. The portion size was very decent and drink not too sweet.

I have been wanting to do one of these colour by the numbers for ages. Just one. I know all these colouring in books for adults are all the rage right now, and I see so many different ones in bookshops and art shops - the secret garden, the patterns, etc. - but I wonder if anyone ever finishes a volume from start to finish. The colouring by the number is tiny, so my neck is definitely feeling the strain at the moment. It's not as easy as it looks, and while you are focusing on not messing it up on that tiny corner, you sometimes forget to see the big picture of what it is you're painting. Is that grey a bit of the fur, the rocks, or the river? Then at the end of a session you sit back and see how much progress you had made - and allow a sigh of contentment. It's not yet finished, but soon! Then it will be admired before going onto another project.

We went there the first time and it was not open, and we ended up going there for dinner instead. There were a lot of people, but it was not hard to get seats. Their food are very tasty and authentic. Fast and good service even though there were a lot of customers at the time. I ordered the Chicken with black pepper sauce, the chicken was a bit burnt but overall the experience was good.

I wanted to try more tea that they offer and also sides such as the Chicken skin. They offer quite a lot of varieties for their food which is good for the different and the range of target market they have in Auckland CBD

Pappa Rich has finally reached New Zealand! The official launch was on October 3rd, and a few food bloggers and myself got to sample a range of the signature dishes on the menu. I was so excited to try out Pappa Rich! With many Malaysian friends raving about how good the food is, it took a lot for me to wait until the launch day. I did it, and it was well worth the wait.

Located inside the IMAX building, PappaRich opened their first store in NZ. They are quite popular in Australia, even with the Malaysian community, and that's when you know they are serious about their Malaysian flavours..
They have a huge drinks menu, so definitely try one. I had the Teh Tarik with coffee jelly and it was very nice, strong tea flavours similar to the ones I had in Singapore. My friend had the soy milk with grass jelly and he has it was good too. We shared the chicken laksa and the beef rendang. The laksa had bold flavours and quite tasty, the soup was on the thinner side but still satisfying. The beef rendang is delicious as well, although the beef needed a bit more cooking to break it down further, I still prefer the one from Selera in Newmarket.. All in all, a nice and clean addition to the city scene for south-east Asian cuisine.

If you've ever chatted with a Malaysian about their countries cuisine, the conversation has likely bought up their love for what I think is possibly their national dish 'chicken rice'.
It's one of those dishes that on first description and even appearance doesn't seem too interesting... Poached or steamed chicken served with a bowl of the cooking broth and some rice which is also cooked in chicken stock. But they have every right to get passionate about it because when executed to perfection it's so good. The soft chicken skin that melts.. The background depth of flavour from the fried garlic, ginger and onion. The fresh soy based sauce accompanying the sliced chicken and how restorative that chic broth is with a slight oiliness. Papparich was the best I've had so far. And not just for chicken rice.. Lovely buttery and crunchy roti Chanai... Just a smidgen of sweetness. Perfect on its own or for lapping up the rich flavoursome chicken laksa curry. Laksa laden with egg hokien noodles, rich fried shallot and shrimp paste giving a thick 'value for money' texture.

After working with a Malaysian Indian chef many years ago who taught me to make a pretty decent Rendang.. And eating countless renditions around nz I think I'm qualified to say that these guys got it down to a fine art. Which it is.. The balance of spices, sweatness, richness.. Tender meat that is still moist despite the sauce being 'dry' A certain "Malaysian" chain that recently opened on the north shore could take some lessons from big daddy PappaRich.
So I've been three days in a row now 😁.
And I might just keep coming..
Note: only reason for less than perfect score would be for a slightly less personal service than the food deserves. But I'll live with it.

The papa Cham coffee and tea blend was interesting and very sweet! I don't usually have sugar in my coffee but there is a time for it. Usually when your too full for dessert and need a caffeine hit to hold off the food coma. And coffee mixed with tea.. Sounds bizarre but seems to work. Maybe it's the thicker texture you get from the robusta coffee bean that's so much more appreciated in south east Asia.
I look forward to trying the fried chicken skin, tandoori chicken and pretty much everything else here.

PappaRich has hit Auckland! A highly raved about Malaysian family eatery almost reminiscent of Denny’s. A few days ago at a blogger’s lunch, I was lucky to sample most of the menu.

Ordering is easy. The menu is massive because every dish has an accompanying photo. Even kids can point and order exactly what they feel like. You fill the order yourself and push a button to get the attention of the wait staff. Excellent. As a fast paced almost ADHD person, there’s no need for me to jiggle my leg while I try to flag down someone. There is a HUGE list of drinks. Knowing that I would pig out soon, I opted out from my normal milk based favourites and ordered the Coconut Paradise. Icy and refreshing, it was topped with real coconut flesh!

We started off with fried chicken skin. Holy crap. On other days I would have steered right away from this heart attack, but I’m so glad the foodie in me won. We all know chicken skin is the best part of KFC chicken and it always irks me when people tear it right off. These were super addictive – crunchy and not greasy at all. The fat under the skin must have melted right off. Follow my mantra: Gym furiously, eat furiously.

One of the highlights is their

Came here twice in two days. I absolutely love this restaurant! I remember always eating there in Malaysia, and really enjoyed the food. Now that the resturant is in nz it is surely bliss! And the food is very authentic just as you would have it overseas. The service here is amazing and great atmosphere, the staff do help you with whatever you need and so friendly. Highly recommend the nasi lamaks, which they have sooooo many to choose from. I tried the curry chicken which was very tasty. Although most these dishes indicate that it is spicy, do not be discourages for those that don't and cant handle spicy food as it is usually just the chilli which comes on a side that is spicy. The prawn in the noodle dish which I got was also lovely, and th prawns were cooked to perfection. And they make a great kaya jam :) which comes with the bread dishes that you order. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, definitely will be coming here too often!

Really authentic Malaysian food, a great atmosphere and amazing service. It's best avoid rush hours as it can get crowded. But the interior is so nice and it has a really chill vibe to it. I've been there twice and I'm absolutely in love! The food is great, the Hainan chicken is my personal favourite. It's only $15 and you get a huge plate that is more than enough to fill you up. Their roti is also really tasty, and always freshly made. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. It's definitely worth a try, amazing food at affordable prices. You would not expect that meals only cost around $15 just because the restaurant itself looks really classy. Will definitely go back

Located inside the queenstreet movie theatre which is handy when catching a quick meal before a film. Clean modern layout and spacious with open kitchen, usually very packed and busy in the weekends (expect a que) but okay on weekdays.

Lot of malaysian friends had recommended this place; they said it was authentic to what they had at home so took their word for it and checked it out.

We had the briyani with red chicken and eggplant, dry koay teow noodles with steamed chicken and the canai with beef rendang. The best out of our selection was the red chicken and the canai.

The Good;
- fast efficient service and delivery of food
- good portions and wide range of different types of food eg fried or soupy noodles, rice dishes, assortment of bread snacks, canai with various sides, and beverages etc

The Meh;
- price was about $15-16 per meal which was a bit much for what it was (a fastfood type asian chain enterprise)
- felt the flavours were a bit of a ht and miss, like although the red chicken and canai were great, the briyani and noodles were pretty bland.

Overall a 3.5 Yums kinda place

Malaysia's finally arrived in Auckland!!! The Malaysian taste that I missed so much, I can now taste them again at Paparich.

Everything from the deco to the cups saucers they use to the food!! Truly authentic!! Without a doubt the best Malaysian place in town!

We really love their Laksa, rich and fragrance and sooo full of flavour ! The roti is also one of the highlights , crispy from the outside but still nice and chewy at the middle ! Beef rendang simply just melt your mouth leaving you the beautiful coconut lemongrass and all sort of beautiful flavours afterwards.

Highly recommend their Coconut Paradise drink ! The best !!!

Their menu is massive and full of exciting goodies.. You need to either get there before 6pm or be prepared to wait for a table .

Well it has been a while since reviews.

It's the laziness bug i tells you. Keep procrastinating saying one day I will write a review about all the places I've dined with the mrs or mates. But never ever got around to it. Orrrrrr is it because no place has ever forced my slender piano musician like fingers from typing away at them keys demanding the words be written for all to read, to understand, to contemplate with a slight rumble of their tum tums.

I am from the asian region where the delights of paparich have spread their vast wings from and now they have landed here on our shores. Sad for the rest of Nz but lucky us Aucklanders because this be the bees knees of malaysian/singaporean food in Auckland. Simple straight forward good ol amazing memories from my youth on a plate or bowl. Which ever way you may swing the food, the drinks , the ambience its all worth that trip to imax in town for a lil taste.

We ordered a variety of dishes and drinks. All were amaze balls mateys.

I'm not going to get into details because after the first taste i was sold and just believe that if the management keep up with that good thing that is proper customer skills and food service. Then this place will stand the test of time.

Ahhh yesss. Why 4.5 stars then you may be thinking. Or saying. Some people do talk their thoughts out. You may just be one of them. Well my leanered reader of good written reviews. They don't do bookings. That needs to change because a trip to town takes time to then having to wait around if the place is packed. That is a lil red flag. But the tiniest of red flags i might add. Like the flag you would find on a miniature army soldiers hand extended out for further effect.

Now time for you to go try it out.
No big endings here. I'll let that big ending be the smile of content on your face after you've had a good lil taste of that fine fine food they serve up in there.

The menu is comprehensive and they have obviously put the effort and money in having these nice menus with professional photos - well done.

The food is great in most cases, but not exceptional, and the price is a bit high for the serving size and type of dishes.

I would still recommend trying this place at least once.

I love Malaysian food, so as soon as I heard this place was opening I of course had to come and check it out!

We ordered the roti with curry chicken - this was pretty good however I didn't like the egg through the roti. I prefer plain, fluffy roti. The curry chicken was tasty along with the sambal dipping sauce.

We also ordered the char keow teow. It was a bit frustrating as we dont eat seafood, it took 3 waiters to finally confirm if its possible to do this without seafood and with chicken instead. So service was lacking slightly. Char keow teow was very average - ive had better at places like selera, KK, bunga raya etc.

The beef rendang/nasi lemak was tasty but not enough curry on the plate for the large amount of rice you get.

This place was ok - I prefer other malaysian places in auckland.

Excellent teh tarik. My personal favourite!
Similiar to what you would expect in Malaysian Kopitiam level.
Food overall is above average with wide range of Malaysian dishes that you wouldn't usually see elsewhere.
Char kuey toew is not bad. However their chili pan mee still have a lot of room for improvement.
The pan mee is overcook and they dont provide the typical chili flakes you would see in Malaysia's chili pan mee.
Honey french toast is far from Malaysian standard
Anyway still worth going if you are craving for Malaysian food and dont mind the wait.

Gone here twice since it was opened. First time I tried their fried vermicelli with vegetarian mutton it was not too bad. Service was great they gave my table 10% off as we said the mutton was a little hard. Then the second time I got to try their chicken with hor fun which was pretty good just a little bit sweet. Service is 4.5/5. Food is 4/5. Environment 4/5 because inside it's a little too noisy during lunch hour. Roti was good tho however the sambal given is varied depends on batch I think. They first time was good but second time gone a little too sweet where it's not spicy at all.

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was quite busy as there were only two available tables at the time.

They have quite an extensive menu for a Malaysian restaurant, but we were disappointed that despite the range they had, they did not offer the deep fried tofu with sweet chilli sauce!

Our meals came out quickly, good quantity and value for money. The food was very good, especially the tofu fa dessert with palm sugar.

I would say it was a nice dining experience except for the part when the waiter spilled sauce on my pants, table and floor when he was collecting the plates, and didn't know what to do, so just stood there for a few minutes looking confused...

Excellent Malaysian food! Our orders of Hainan chicken and chicken & prawn curry was fantastic! The taste was very flavoursome and punchy, which is exactly what we expected from Malaysian food. The service was fast and efficient, not overly friendly but that's ok considering the food was so amazing. The only negative I have to say about Pappa Rich is the price. It's definitely more expensive than other equally good Malaysian places around Auckland. Amazing Malaysian food! Super quick service and lots of menu options and yummy drinks!

Partner and I came around just before midday on a Sunday, the place was slowly filling up but we luckily got a seat straight away. By the time we finished with it our meals, there were lines of people waiting outside so be prepared to wait if you come here during peak dining hours.

Food was amazing, everything came quickly and service was great! The only thing was that they didn't explain the ordering process with us as we came in so we were completely lost as to what to do for a while.

Always great to see a new Malaysian chain popping up in good ol Auckland.
Menu variety and quality was top notch (as expected).

Only gripe is the pricing - while I thought the pricing for other mains were fair - charging $5.90 for 1 slice of bread with butter and kaya is a bit steep, don't you think? Somwhere in the $3 range would have been more reasonable. Paying $5,90 for a slice of bread stopped us from giving it a go and recommending the hainan bread to our friends.

It's here it's here! PappaRich has landed in Auckland and have set up shop at the Skycity Metro on Queen street!

Why am I so excited? Well the first time I ever tried food from PappaRich I was in Melbourne and oh boy was it awesome! It's now one of the places that I have to eat at every time I visit Melbourne!

Now that PappaRich has opened up here, if you've not been to the restaurant chain in Australia then you must stop in and indulge at the Auckland establishment.

So.....I've probably wasted a minute of your time with my rather 'emotional' or 'fanatical' spiel.....let me talk about the food and service.

We got to PappaRich in time to beat any queuing. The staff seated us (myself, my wife and toddler).

We were handed menus and were explained how the ordering process works. There are some pencils and a ordering pad at your table. Once you've selected your dishes you write down the dish numbers on the pad and press a caller but that is attached to your table. (A little bit like an attendant button on an aeroplane).

The service is quick, courteous and incredibly friendly.

The food, well......it's amazing and flavourful. The menu offers a range of dishes from their trade mark roti canai to laksa's, noodle and rice dishes.

There is also a selection of juices and other drinks to choose from.

PappaRich is child friendly.

This is the new Malaysian place on the block and with all the hype going on I think it definitely met expectation. Get here at 6pm and there is plenty of space but if you come later than that, be ready to queue up!!

Friendly staff, orderly queues. To order, you look through the menu and write down your order in a paper provided. Lots of choices in the menu with also plenty of dessert and drink choices. So it is a good place to eat or just have drinks and a chat.

Must tries
- curry laksa. Comes with shredded chicken, eggplant and crispy tofu skin. Nowhere else makes it like this! Also tried the Assam laksa which wasn't too bad.

- roti. So many types here and all made fresh. There are savory ones or sweet ones. Heard the roti banana was good :)

Having only just recently opened, the place was busy. So popular that a group of nine of us had to wait for 30 minutes outside, which is absolutely understandable.

There was a variety of options on the menu and it was great that the person at the door gave us menus so that we could pick in advance what we wanted. It would have been nice to have seats outside, but that's completely understandable given the walkway isn't leased by the restaurant.

I ordered the Roti Canai with Tandoori Chicken ($16.50). It was delicious, the chicken curry my favourite. However the portions could have been a little bigger though. I also tried the deep fried chicken skin ($8.90) a tad pricey but still yummy. For a drink I regrettably ordered the Ice Milo ($4.20) which was exactly that, later thinking to myself I could have just made this at home.

There is no doubt that the staff are still finding their feet. Simple things like forgetting to offer us water and not asking us how our meals were, are things over time the staff should hopefully be able to pick up. One thing I noticed is that there were quite a lot of staff serving us. Perhaps it would have been better to have staff stick to one table or one area, that way over the night customers are accustomed to being served by a familiar face making the experience that much better.

Overall, the food was great and the service was good but not great, understandable given the restaurant is just finding its feet. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something different on the menu 😊

As we got seated the interior design of the restaurant is amazing. They have super cool lights and all the chefs are at viewing distance. After we ordered, it didn't take long for our food to come out and the presentation was great. I got the Matcha tea drink and my friend got the Seseme drinks. I thought they were delicious. The only downside was I got the rice - the Indian one and it had lemon seeds and strange herbs in it which didn't like. I had the red chicken and not enough meat but other that service was awesome. Came here for lunch on friday.. even tho it was lunch hour rush we were seated immediately. Once you are seated at your table you will be given your menu and the ordering system is something diff and I quite liked it. On your table there a order chit which you fill out with your chosen options and once your are done you press the bell which is located on the table and the service people will come over to collect your order chit.
This works best for me because I'm indecisive and I take lot of time to order.
Good - Roti's! Oh my sooo many options
Bad - even though we requested our food to be made spicy it was very mild and when we asked for chilli / sambal we were quoted an extra $1.50 which is usually free at all Asian restaurants.
Must try - I have been here just once and there are so many things on the menu i want to try like the iced kopi and char kow teyow but I do recommend their roti.

The nasi lemak is awesome. Taste just like home with chicken curry. The laksa had depth to it. The chicken rice was good. Chicken is tender. My son loved it and ate most of it. Hes only 3. The portion is generous too.

The food came very quickly. Just like what you will expect from this franchise.
Will look forward to coming back to try other things on menu

this is my first time here. I had curry laksa while my wife had hainanese chicken rice. I have to say the food was awesome, feel like I was in Malaysia. The authenticity of food was there. Definitely will come again to try other meals. The price for me was a little bit expensive for some meals.

I think Malaysian food might be on it's way in as the latest food trend. PappaRich is already well established overseas and has just made its way to NZ and as a big lover of Malaysian food I had to go check it out.

I admit I was very sceptical of the quality, being a somewhat westernised franchise. However came into it with open expectations and tried to not compare too hard to the authentic Hawkers stalls in Kuala Lumpur.

Ordered the Prawn Mee, a Biriyani set with chicken curry & sambal prawns and a Iced Kopi. Overall very impressed with the Prawn Mee, very good broth (tasted exactly like you were sucking the juices from a prawns head!). It can be hard to get that level of depth, so I enjoyed it. Generous amount of noodles and sambal (chilli) on the side.

Kopi was perfect, no complaints there. Biriyani was just ok, average chicken curry but nice sambal prawns. Biriyani itself was not outstanding but as a whole dish I think most people would like it especially if you've never had it before.

The prices are on the higher end and quality not as good as some of the other great Malaysian eats around town, however I think it's justified given the atmosphere and location. The interior has been well designed and lifts the dining experience, so for that I think the prices are suitable. It doesn't feel like food court or a cheap eat dining experience. They have a big menu which I think alone is worth going to visit, especially with a group (something for everyone!). Love that they do Kaya toast and half boiled eggs as well as some traditional desserts, would go back just for that.

I love the service concept, they have a buzzer that you press when ready to order (see pic), and you fill out a form with your order details, similar to ordering Dim Sum. I think it's great, you don't feel rushed to pick something and don't have to wait to flag someone down when you're finally ready!

It's not the best Malaysian food but I had a lot of fun and would gladly go back. The service was on point, you could tell there was extra effort put in for opening week. With its central location, I see it being a very popular eatery :-)

Very nice environment to dine in. Just opened recently, quite a lot of staff inside. I ordered Hainanese chicken, the chicken was very soft, taste very nice. And the chicken soup was flavourful too. I like the store decoration.

Tried PappaRich for the first tonight with a group of friends just shortly after 7pm. Was expecting a long waiting list, but surprisingly we were able to be seated almost immediately.

We ordered the crispy chicken skin, biryani with red chicken & fried eggplant, chicken rice with steamed chicken, nasi goreng with fried chicken, roti with egg & onion with beef rendang, and the Assam laksa for takeaway.

Service was very swift, with everything except the roti arriving 5-10min after ordering, the roti taking maybe 15min.

Crispy chicken skin is as its named, crispy, as well as being well balanced, not too salty.

The biryani was full of spices, able to see the cardamon pods & cloves throughout. I would describe the red chicken as a spicy sweet and sour style, with the chicken being deep fried. The eggplant that came with the dish was delicious and crisp.

The steamed chicken and chicken rice was one of my favourites, with the chicken being cooked perfectly and well seasoned, better than the ones served at the Chicken Rice Shop franchise in Malaysia.

The nasi goreng and fried chicken were tasty, not being too greasy, with the chicken being lovely and tender.

The roti was fairly good, not as crispy as preferred, and a bit more towards the sweet side, however with the texture and taste a roti should have. The beef rendang was a bit tough, maybe needing a bit longer to tenderise.

The Assam laksa was fairly good. Glad that PappaRich serve it as not many Malaysian places in Auckland serve this. The amount of chilli and mint was perfect, as well as the balance of sweet, sour, spicy. Just wished there were bigger pieces of fish.

Overall, PappaRich is refreshing, especially after the quality of Malaysian Foods found in Auckland having dropped recently. For the speed, portion and quality of service, I would say that the pricing is okay, considering it being similar to Denny's but with better food and service quality.

Am very pleased that this place has opened after the long wait, can't wait to go back and try more. *apologies for the long review*
(Did I mention the menu is halal?)

I had Assam Laksa with soya milk and jelly and it was really authentic, almost could compare to Penangs Assam Laksa. If you like something sweet and sour definitely try it. Portions were decent but char kuet teow was on the smaller side. Roti canai was a bit dry but overall a good experience as the staff were friendly and reminded me of being back in Malaysia. Food came out very fast considering it was a full house. Will come back to try others.

Had Char Kuay Teow, Roti Canai and the Teh Tarik.
Reminded me of the genuine food back home in Malaysian. The customer service was on point with the waiters servicing with a smile and quick to respond to any request you may have.
Definitely coming back

I literally stumbled across this place, whilst looking for an Asian eatery to satisfy my noodle soup craving. So this ended up being my second Laksa for the week (check out my review on Selera).

Despite being newly opened, the service was super-efficient and friendly, and the food came out super-fast too.
The menu selection is HUGE and I would say, for those unfamiliar with Malaysian, would seem a little overwhelming (thank god for pictures).

The seafood laksa was good, but I my personal view was it lacked a little punch (more salt/shrimp paste). The seafood was on more of the reserved side of portions, although the mussels and prawns were of good quality, the grilled eggplant was a nice touch and it was nice to have the additional crackling pieces (although I must admit, I’m not sure if they were bits of pork crackling or shallots – or both).

The lime and Lychee drink was lovely. It was really complimentary to the soup. Will definitely head back, but will likely try something a bit different.

In a stroke of good fortune, Pappa Rich’s opening this weekend coincided perfectly with our recent trip to Auckland. :D Of course, it was a must-do item on my foodie list.

First impressions were stunning. As opposed to many Malaysian eateries which prioritize function over form, this restaurant is beautifully decked out. Traditional marble tabletops, lovely decor, snazzy glass walls. We arrived late in the afternoon, and the place was still bustling. The waitress at the front door welcomed us and gave us a waitlist number, and we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Menus were instantly brought to us and we were asked if we had been here before and if we knew the ordering system (we did).

Had to wait awhile to get a table which was understandable as its only their 2nd day since opening. The service was really good and prompt. The chicken Laksa was fabulous as was the Nasi Goreng. All were authentically made. Definitely coming back again!

11/09 Went back again on the following Friday to try the other dishes and wasn't disappointed. The Char Kway Teow and ABC (ice Kacang) were beautifully made. The portion of the Char Kway Teow was a little small compared to other Malaysian eateries but the quality is certainly higher. Still highly recommended.

So impressed with the customer service. I did not have to pay for my nasi lemak as the rice wasn't cooked well which I do believe can be forgiven what with the opening night rush. Otherwise the food was great, the tau fu fa put a smile on my face, reminded me of home. Great to be amongst Malaysians enjoying Malaysian food.

Food was yummy and authentic. Always a great atmosphere for diners with a resemblance of Malaysia. However we've picked a really busy time for our visit and the mains weren't served at the same time where the second main was served about 10 mins after the first main arrived. Also the char kuay teow wasn't spicy as requested. All in all good food and we will be back again :-)

Good quality food and good servings. The way they take orders is a little odd but not an issue. Gets pretty full on weekends being in such a central location. Had no issues with any service or food, was all pretty tasty.

The laksa is okay, the soup didn't have much flavor except coconut and wasn't as spicy as expected which allowed all the other flavors to be heard. The roti was good by itself and had some unusual sauces with it which was okay. The Hainan chicken on rice was excellent. Had a good aromatic flavor and was pleasant

We stopped by for dinner and they only had the express menu, which had very limited vegetarian options. You order by writing down the menu items on the order slip and then hand it to the server once you're ready. There is a button on each table to call the servers when you need them. I ended up going with the roti canai. The roti was really nicely cooked and the sambal that came with it was quite tasty, along with the dhal. We also had the kaya toast and mantou for dessert and they were both quite tasty. I really enjoy their kaya since it has such a nice pandan flavour to it.

Nice place to experience some good Malaysian food, but service was quite awful as there were only three waiters for almost 30 tables but they compensate it by providing us free ice cream for coming on Valentines Day ❤️

Food came out super fast and was of good quality. Food portions are good and it's great value for money. Tried the N11 Dry Curried Egg Noodles and had a PD02 Mango Mania. Both fast great and met my expectations. They also have an interesting ordering system, you write the numbers of the dish you want on an ordering slip proved at the table. And when ready, you press the button on the table to bring over the waiter. No communication with the waiters are necessary. Interesting system, which speeds things up nicely.

Well managed and clean restaurant. The food is fast and well prepared. The dishes are big enough even for big guys. The only think I don't like there is no knifes in the boxes with cutlery so I had to call the waitress and ask for some. Prices are more than suitable for this kind of restaurants.

This restaurant is good, especially if you want to avoid the junk food ! I enjoyed my dinner here. They have a different special deal for dinner everynight for about $18 including a drink. The only thing is about the staff... They need to learn how to smile... Also, nothing arrive at the same time so it's not convenient if we want to be polite and wait for our friends plate before starting to eat...

Authentic Malaysian cuisine, they do a pretty good Laksa and Char Kway Teow. This outlet is no different. Plenty of seats, average service, and clean environment. I was told to get my own water and extra sambal cost $2. I'd come back because of the food, not for everything else.

Nice Malaysian restaurant now with branches in Sylvia Park as well. Traditional Malaysian cuisine offers different variety of foods to choose from. Luch special in the CBD branch which is quite nicely priced. Also comes with a free drink when you order this. Not as busy as it used to be but none the less, good place to go to if you feel like some Asian food.
