This muffin was soo gooey and chocolatey
My go-to place for coffee and lunch if I’m at uni or work. Outdoor seating is great but there are so many little bugs flying around.
Indoor seating is much tidier. Food and coffee is pretty decent. Cold brew with lemon wedge is 👌 💯 portions are decent too.
One of the more classy coffee places to visit in the city. Although the level of service varies, the menu choice never disappoints, as is the case with the coffee itself. I would struggle to recall another place offering such comfortable seating.
I used to come here to drink coffee and read poetry with a friend! Great mornings~ The ambience is very peaceful and cosy - the environment itself is very large and warm! Perfect for a rainy day or just a wanting a little place to escape. Their coffees are soothing and their staff is very friendly! A relaxing place to enjoy some good drinks and to chill out! Would love to come here again, but we’ll see when university lets me :((((
I really like their ice coffee. I don't normally drink coffee coz i don't like bitter.... Even mocha i still need to add sugar... But this ice coffee was super nice and full of milk, creamy sweet but still have coffee flavour. Decor pretty nice and modern, jusr too many flies at outside seat area.
The ice coffee here is sooooooo good.
I use to order all sorts of coffee but if you’re here get the ice coffee! Tastes delicious and creamy.

Iced creme brûlée and cookies&creme fraps. So nice and cooling. Reasonable price about $8 for large size. We usually use the Entertainment Book vouchers so even cheaper as buy 1 get 1 free. Fast service. Lots of place to sit, full of students.
A nice cafe to hang out in, especially as a student. Free wifi, and plenty of seats.
I got the iced mocha with crossaint. Just overall nice cafe food and drinks. Nothing amazing, nothing bad.
Good calm atmosphere, good for studying which is what a lot of people do already. Service is good. They close really late which is something I like
One of my go to spots for coffee! Drinks are quite expensive, however, its worth it for the ambience and the quality of service that is provided! The staff are super friendly and I always come here with my friends at least once a week. It is located in a really convenient place, close to the universities and queen street. I give this a 5 because im quite biased, but here is my take on the place:
PROS:
- Very tasty drinks
- Friendly service
- Good ambiance
- Convenient
- Typical cafe food
CONS:
- Expensive (they offer a 10% discount to students)
- Can get crowded and busy during peak hours
- You have to ask for the toilet key since it IS a public toilet which can be a nuisance, but its necessary
I love their hot chocolates and their eggs benedict with bacon! They also have a nice range of cabinet food like croissants and slices. They have a huge seating area and you can always see students studying away on their benches.
I order ice chocolate and this guy service was friendly and the drink he made was very yum even though how can you go wrong with ice chocolate lol but yeah I would recommend here as there is WiFi and comfortable seatings for a chill date or a quiet study place.
Polite staff, good setting. Lots of students seem to come here to study. There are comfortable couches as well. One of the bigger cafes around. They have large tables outside for smokers as well. Accessible and convenient location.
Peach and mango iced tea was pretty good.
The interior is spacious and eye-catching. Service is fast and the staff are super friendly. The coffee from the Lorne Street branch is amazing! Definitely doesn't taste like your standard franchise coffee. This is definitely my go-to for coffee in the city
One of my favorite cafe chains around the world. The coffee blend never ceases to impress and the baristas here are really cheerful giving you a prompt yet pleasant service.
Great location, coffee is average with expensive price tag. Iced coffee $7-8 which is outrageous. Food is very average as well, something to be expected in very cafe really. Clean individual toilets.
I love coming here to study! The music is played quite softly and there is usually just a quiet chatter around the store. It's also very spacious and I love their frappacinos. Staff are very kind and I love how they open late - giving me great cramming opportunities!
This place is a really good place to study if you have noise cancelling headphones. There’s free WiFi and nice tables too. Gloria Jeans coffees like all other coffees are pretty pricy. The ones I get usually range around the $6 mark.
I love their fruit chillers and their mocha chillers. My partner always gets a boring Americano. So together we spend around $12 just on drinks. I haven’t had food here so I can’t rate on that. The staff are pretty friendly too. Plus they have to unlock the bathrooms for you.
I love the little corner with the fluffy rug and the chairs. Has a really nice look to it.
Great coffee. I love the iced latte, strong enough to wake you and not making you hyper active. Lovely vibe. Fast wifi. The decor is eye catching. Suitable for working/ studying. The location is great. Nice staff. We always opt for this cafe when it comes to studying for tests.
Used to come here very regularly at one time and never left me disappointed regarding all aspects..be it service, quality of food, standard of coffee or price etc. And now sitting still in the cafe as I write this I can honestly say it's good to see nothing has changed. Service was quick and with a smile, the cost is as I would expect , the place is kept clean and good atmosphere. I ordered what I always had here which is the Mocha Caramel Latte and it came with the nice little design on top and tasted just as good as I remember. I have had something's to eat here in the past and all was good. Only downside as I have found before here is as it was today, that the area with all the nice comfy soft seating was packed out. Ah well...
Great place for lunch time coffee catch ups and for your expected cafe dishes.
The chefs here go out of their way to ensure the dishes are served with quality.
For me, This Gloria Jeans eliminates the "franchise" aspect of the brand.
Great place
Came here on a Saturday when we had a BYE for rugby. I was with mum showing her around the city and explaining to her what the student life was actually life. We came here to not to get a Hot Chocolate but we got something else, we ended up getting a small espresso. And from what I recall this was the third time I tried an espresso. Needless to say it was quite strong, despite being a lightweight coffee drinker.
The service was quite busy for a Saturday morning, but we managed to get our order in under at least 4 mins. Which was quick coming from a busy cafe.
Looking from the outside, it's quite hidden coming from Wellesley St, turn to the corner and there it is with its doors wide open for easy access. Their decor, tables, chairs even flooring are quite flash like you're entering some sort of office building even though you'll be seeing a coffee machine and a lot of people, they also have an extra dining area in the inside which is pretty legit for those busy days.

Nice coffee shop tucked into one of the by lanes of Auckland city.
Aroma of coffee welcomes you to the shop which is quite spacious and has adequate seating inside as well as outside. There was a huge array of deserts available in their showcase which can make those on a diet change their mind.
1) Caramel latte : Nice refined coffee which was smooth and had that lovely flavour of caramel in it. Also u can specify to them if you would like your coffee strong or normal whichever suits you.
2) Caramel slice : Being a caramel lover I had to try this. It had a nice base at the bottom which I think was made with a mix of oats, grains, coconut and some breadcrumbs. On top u had the had that heavy layer of caramel with another layer in between of coconut I think. On a whole it tasted really nice.
Nice place to hang out and chill with some friends when time permits.
Would recommend Cocoa Loco!
It was awesome! I could still remember the taste on my tongue. I would always stay here to wait for my friends. My favorite rendezvous as I loved staying here. The ambience is the best among all the coffee shops in CBD.
This Gloria Jean's is attracting people with its spacious& bright ambience. And stuff are always being happy, energetic and welcoming.
In terms of food and coffee, I would say they are not bad, yet not outstanding. I tried the Mocha Truffle today and it was a normal Mocha to me. Couldn't feel anything different from a standard Mocha.
This Gloria Jeans is so fancy. It doesn't even have the same feel and ambience as its chain store counterparts.
It's such a lovely space to catch up with friends or read a book with your favourite beverage.
Staff are friendly and service is pretty quick. The place is really clean and tidy.
Got a white hot chocolate here, not the best white chocolate I've had but it was good. Creamy but a bit on the sweet side for me.
The much much better Gloria Jeans. The staff are friendly, the lighting and atmosphere is great, the coffee is decent and best of all, free wifi! The wide open doors and large windows are perfect for a relaxed but refreshing indoor experience. Compared to the High St branch, this place actually functions well.
Opens into the evening with a relaxing atmosphere, the chocolate was one of the best in Auckland. The staff were prompt. General excellent all round.
I've walked past several times and thought that the location is great with big doors opening out onto Khartoum Place and that the cafe itself looks really interesting with the unusual light fittings, the glamorous perspex chairs in one corner, and a large area to one side with comfortable couches. What held me back was that it's a franchise.
Today I took the plunge and went there for breakfast. I wanted porridge but the menu behind the counter only offered muesli. When I ordered the muesli, I was told they now did granola and then I found on their printed menu the porridge option, so was happy to be able to order that, though somewhat confused as the two menus hardly match up. Currently there is a 15% discount on breakfast orders so that was an added bonus.
My medium latte was very average. The porridge was good though such a huge helping that I left half. The service was friendly. It was quiet while I was there and is a lovely space to spend time in, not sure what it's like when it gets busy though. The customers on the couches in the next room looked settled in for the day with their laptops, I didn't see any movement from there the entire time I was in the cafe.
Nice atmosphere and decor. The place was
Not too busy so it did not take long for my order. My mocha was good but not amazing and slightly more expensive than other coffee shops .
Best Gloria Jean chain I've tried yet. The coffee tastes good unlike other Gloria Jeans stores I've tried. The food is naturally over priced but I must say it does taste good. They have a really large open space where uni students tend to flock to and study/chill out between lecture breaks. Really nice atmosphere but outside is full of smokers so major down side there for the non-smokers like myself
That's definitely the best Gloria Jeans I've been to. I actually wish they could keep this level in other places, so they would a good chain.
My coffee was very good, as well as my food. Service was very friendly, and the place itself is quite nice, contemporary and cozy.
One thing that is also great is that they are open til late, what is not very common for this kind of places.
Service - 5/5
Food - 4/5

Ambiance - 5/5
Overall value - 10/5
Cost - so reasonable.
This place is a sweet spot! Either on my way to Uni or from, I always find something here.
I may have an emotional attachment to this café!! We literally spend hours over coffee and food as a spot for catchups, meetings, or just to study. I really appreciate their service given providing for loud, crazy students most of the time. And their hygiene level - I don't think I have ever seen a dirty table, like magic it's always clean.
They aren't fussy.. once we had a pancake from the shop next door with us and we came to get frappes and food for the rest of us here, they did not get all anal about us sitting in their premises.
Love the decor inside and outside.
And THANK YOU for letting us sit in one place for 3-4 hours at a time just to catchup and study.
Like always, will be back.
Coffee is good and the clerks are all very nice, because they will remain me to show the Vip card when I forgot it. I do recommend the passion fruit cheesecake, sooooo delicious!! And the red velvet cake is really hard to eat. So awful ''
I love the space and the ambience of this place unless it's raining coz it gets too cold. I had an Eggs Benedict with salmon. The home made hollandaise wasn't that special but it was nice I think the English muffin should've been toasted more or something coz it was too chewy and soft. I love the sauce used for dressing and garnish though. The service was great from the counter to the waiters serving.
I usually try avoid big chain coffee stores because coffee is generally sh*t like the coffee club and starbucks so I go for iced drinks instead.
Gloria jeans iced drinks like the iced mocha chiller are definitely drinks that hit the spot. Every time I've come here your drinks have always been a hit and for that you deserve a great 10/10 from me.
Cabinet foods however look way too overpriced and don't appear fresh but I'm sure it appeals to other people who enjoy cabinet foods. It can get busy and the tables right in front of the counter are always in the way especially when there are people in groups congested at the counter.
The interior and furniture is bloody fantastic. The lounge is huge and is the only cafe I know around with big spaces and hang out spots. Many students come here, this is a great place to wind out and relax especially with exams and such.
Drinks are the way here! I would avoid the food. I've had a few panini's from here. Not great.

I tend to shy away from big coffee establishments but I like Gloria Jean’s Coffees. I think it has a lot to do with how nice the Gloria Jean’s cafe is in Lorne Street. My sister and I love going here to have coffee, catch up and chat. The interior design of this place is great and I want the furniture.
Second to Starbucks on the corner of Queen Street and Victoria Street, this is my favourite place to grab a coffee or two, sit down with friends, and chat for hours. Literally hours.
My favourite drink is the choc macadamia latte (I order it EVERY time!) and my friend that I frequent with is IN LOVE with the caramelatte. He says it is his favourite coffee drink, ever.
Large place, but could do with more of those super comfy seats. However, every time we are here, we tend to find quite some good seats for ourselves regardless.
If you are after a nice chill area, where you can sit forever and not get kicked out, then this is where it's at!
I haven't actually ordered menu food from this Gloria Jeans branch before, but I used to come here every week to catch up with the same group of friends. I enjoy the iced drinks here! The creme brulee chiller is one of my favourites, as well as the cookies and cream mocha chiller and the iced chocolate with biscuit! I also used to get food from the cabinet quite often, and they're at decent prices for a good sized portion! The location is super close to uni — about a two minute walk down Albert Park, which means I'll definitely be back! Service is usually friendly as well :)
As a chain coffee shop, Gloria Jeans is a bit of a hit or miss for me. This particular one definitely gains more brownie points for it's beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere. They have fluffy rugs, gorgeous hanging lamps and big lofty windows that make the whole place so light and inviting. The cabinet food is standard, and coffee is reasonably good. Not my first choice of cafe, but fine for a quick bite to eat if you're around.

First of all, the decor of this cafe is beautiful. It is what attracted me in the first place. I love the lighting, the ghost chairs and the overall interior design of this place. This is my favourite meeting place in the city to have coffee with.
It is quite close to the universities so it can get busy but if you get here at a good time, it's a great place to chill. The service is good and I like their coffees.
I usually order the mocha truffle, mocha caramel latte or choc macadamia latte. I've ordered their panini here too and it was huge so my sister and I shared it. I think their coffees are well-prices and are a decent size.
One of my fav gloria jeans branches. It's really close to uni so its a really nice place to study at. I would say 6:30-10 is the best place to study just because it's really quiet and you'll be able to choose tables, it does get quite busy afterwards but it's not too bad. ZomatoStudents
The nicest Gloria Jeans in town both in atmosphere and quality. The Lorne St branch has been decorated like a modern cafe and is quite a pleasure to sit and relax at compared to the others.
Coffee has always been consistent, it's not amazing coffee, but a touch above Starbucks. A decent place for a catchup.
Friendly staff. Although it was a busy day, u could see how flustered they were. Sat at the art gallery seatings where there's couches. Very comfy for our catch up. Ordered our lunch. To our surprise how amazed we were with the presentation and how real and big portion it was. I had fish n chips with extra salad. This is a winner. Chips was crunchy but abit dry. Overall yum. See images. I would go back and order this meal for a takeaway. Lunches are 11-3pm
My absolute favourite Gloria jeans in town. Almost don't want to write a review to keep it a close hidden secret! Ha ha. This GJ was a regular hangout on a Sunday when we lived closer by. While I'm a coffee snob and don't rate chain coffee highly, what makes this GJ is the decor and ambience. Inside you'll find plush chairs and well decorated lounge areas, they have so much space inside and out that you won't have trouble finding a cosy spot. Close by to a lot of other eateries isn't a downside either! Will be back soon.
A great place to meet up with friends or to do some individual study. cozy, relaxing and friendly environment. Love the coffee and free wifi here.
Love this space. Gloria Jeans seem to be on trend with updating their decor as homey as possible and this particular branch is a feast for the eyes. There are so many different seating to choose from, each corner with its own personality. The huge chairs are comfy. However, this isn't a quiet place. Coffee and cabinet food are very good.
Recently I have been on a campaign to support the small Independent coffee shops but I couldn't help but be impressed by the ambiance and setting of this particular Gloria Jeans. The coffee itself was $4.10 (for a small flat white - one raw sugar) so not the cheapest but it was velvety smooth and professionally prepared.

Can see this being a great place to work from in the warmer months.
This coffee place has several seating options to choose from which is great if you get in before the students and can find a spot where you don't get the evil eye of the lap toppers hogging a communal table so they can charge them or sleeping students - damn rude when they have their feet up where people come to eat and drink coffee. If you choose to sit outside when the weather is brilliant be prepared to inhale and become a passive smoker or endure the spitting of the spitters 😝. So the best time when I was going regularly is first thing in the morning perched in the corner near the kitchen so you can people watch while you wait for your order. The first chef knew my order really well to the point he would bring it out to me himself. The waitress knew my coffee order and always got it right and perfect too. Sadly I wouldn't come any other time unless it's for a takeaway coffee and she is making it. The chef has changed now and they must have over ordered on the red onions as that is what smothered over my grain toast. Also the tomatoes aren't cooked long enough and the plating of my food is horrid: soggy toast, smothering and layers of red onion, some mushrooms and small poached eggs drowned in sauce. By the time I've dismantled thw tower of inedible ingredients the toast is soggy and I'm quite angry I've paid for the slop. The waitress refunded my entire meal and apologised profusely. The pic attached is how it used to come out with the first chef who I miss. Coffee is still good and the decor so comfy but to have brekkie there is probably a negative. As I really like the service and coffee of the main waitress and the decor really hip and comfy go and try it for yourself but my last few ventures render this food experience 2.5
UPDATE: I had a proposal to read and within a certain time so I decided to go back. I hope the new chef is there to stay and he seems to get the simplest of food right without crap coming out. Service always impeccable. Food much much better...almost like the first original chef ☝👍 for the chefs brekkie food it pushes my opinion (paying customer to all the Pro critics who hate Zomato - but many others like myself love!) goes up! I have been back thrice both food and service were consistently good!
With high ceilings, bright lights, large opened spaces that are wonderfully decorated, free wifi and trading hours that lead till 10pm on weekdays, it's no wonder i often find myself here with a cuppa. Settled in between the university district, this leads to lorne st's gloria jeans patrons being a hangout spot for a majority of students. The challenge only happens when the toilet is needed, we have to request for one of the staff to open the door that leads to the loo and if they're busy... Oh you'll rather hold it in than get an look that signifies death in their eyes. As crowded as it gets after the school bell rings, it's a place set for convenience and relaxation.
It was actually quite nice, which surprised me because I usually hate the chains.
I tried the french toast with bacon and caramelized banana which costed way too much ($16.80) so I halved it with my friend, which was convenient because there were two banana slices, two bacons and two french toasts. Very nice presentation, and the taste was good too, but still, overly-priced.
Staff were cheerful and nice, however one of them forgot who ordered the french toast, and we had to call out that it was us.
Overall, a nice, stylish shop with high quality foods despite being a chain shop. A perfect place to meet with friends and catch up.
