Atmosphere (warm and welcoming, relaxed seating and nice subtle music) 5/5
location and parking 4/5
seating arrangement- traditional-very clean and tidy 5/5
the food and menu- Superb 5/5 service is great and our Chicken Karahi platter and Charcoal platter arrived a few minutes after we had ordered.
The only improvement I would make is to add a dessert menu and drinks menu.
Awesome!!.Great place.Great food.Great service. I recommend this place to family and friends. Love it.
Great place amazing food and excellent service. Will definitely go there again and will recommend it to my friends
Great place with yummy food and excellent service just loved the place and the Mediterranean food.
Had dinner with the family a few days ago. Friendly service and good food. My advice, get the big platter, feed four or five people, thank me later
We’ll be back.
Went here for dinner on Friday night and had the most amazing food and service - great to see other people enjoying it as well.
The food is tasty and is plentiful
The platters are good to share and get a good selection
The baklava’s are really good too
Will be back to try further items on the menu
Very recommended
9/10 and I don't dish those out lightly. Highly recommend.
Love the Food and the Service is Excellent. Good place for familiesMust Recommended
Good and tasty food! Very friendly staff.
Best hummus and rice I’ve had in a while!
Amazing place and great service by the whole team. Food is very well prepared and tasty. A must for anyone wanting Middle Eastern.
I was meaning to take photos of the dishes we got but the food was so exceptionally good I immediately forgot once it got served. Love this place! So delicious and the people are so lovely too!
Have been dining here regularly for a year, the food and service is AMAZING! Highly recommend if you are after traditional authentic middle eastern food. The charcoal platter is a must have, perfect for 3. The king platter is perfect for larger groups.
Authentic middle eastern food - perfectly cooked, generous portions, fresh, tasty and nicely presented.
The shock of experiencing how bad Rumi had become gave me that push to finally come here all the way from Albany in a desperate search for a good Middle Eastern fix.
We ordered the tabbouleh salad and babaganoush with bread to start. The bread was soft and warm and perfect for me to smoosh the creamy and super tasty babaganoush onto. The tabbouleh salad was packed with gloriously fresh parsley and tomatoes and seasoned beautifully with just the right amount of zest to really get my tastebuds going.
When the charcoal chicken hit our table, I could immediately see that the chicken was cooked to perfection - big plump pieces of succulent chicken glistening with a subtle charring from the charcoal. The dish came with a salad dressed with something like hummus and two amazing sauces. The rice took me back to the rice I used to have at Desert Rose in Palmerston North (which is now closed). It was so authentic and tasty, my mind has officially been blown.
The baklava was exploding with generous serving of fillings and pistachio nuts and it was the perfect finish to a gorgeous meal.
Highly recommend this place!! Arabic tea and coffee are great as well as the charcoal sheesh kebab!
closer to 4.5
came here under recommendation from friend of friend and we were not disappointed
love their meat platter, really decent portion (their salad are not bad either)
the lamb cutlets are my favourite (although all the meat are good and i wouldn’t mind eating any) - i have not tasted better, it really was perfectly cooked
if i have to take any points away, the ambience could be better, and the meat dishes could be accompanied by more vegetables
We ordered the charcoal platter for 3 yesterday to takeaway and hands down this was the best food I have ever ordered! The charcoal chicken, shish kebab and lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection, super moist. The rice was amzing, full of flavour, and the sauces and salad, omg to die for!! The taste and flavours are expertly done. Definitely will be returning over and over again in the future and can not recommend this place enough. Thank you
Been here several times. Lovely light meals , friendly staff and nice atmosphere. If you looking for something char grilled , this is the place to be
I came here a year ago (I know late review) but anyway.. the food was so delicious! I had fish and my friend had the chicken dish. Both dishes were full of flavors! Would come back 100% and also recommend to others.
This place serves the best French fries!😍 I tried the sheekh kebab and chicken with their special rice and it was cooked perfectly. Their sauces are too good especially the one with tomatoes.
Tried Khanz for the first time today and it was awesome. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was really nice. Would recommend getting entrees if your dining in just to snack on something while you wait for your mains. The environment was really nice quite appropriate for the cuisine creates a really nice Arab feel. Would definitely go back and try some of their other dishes out.
The charcoal king platter served 4 people, it was perfect ! The only downside for me was the ratio of the meat and compared to the rice. There was plenty of chicken and sheesh kebab we managed to have a share but the lamb and beef it was first on first serve. For the amount we paid I think that was the only let down. Besides that the food was delicious and it took around 20-25 minutes for the order to come out. Nice place to take families and friends as there is ample of space.
I was recommended by my colleague at this place. Hearing that they live at North Shore and still come to this suburb for food, must mean this place is something extraordinary. With that mindset, I decide to come with my friends to try it out.
The interior of the restaurant was spacious, not elegant but comfortable. We sat down and was served by some very friendly staffs.
Anyway we ordered the vine leafs and bread with baba ganoush as starters.
The flavour for the vine leaves were unique, which reminded me of this Romanian dish I had before but better.
The baba ganoush was very nice, it was chunky and the vinegar and the onion was a good mix with the near perfect flat bread.
The main we ordered was the Khanz charcoal platter. From the moment that arrived and until the very last bite, it was a full on mouth orgasmic experience. The meat was cooked perfectly. The lamb sheesh was juicy and the cutlet was full of flavour. The chicken was not any inferior than the other 2 meats. The only bad thing was that this experience will have to end eventually. 😢
Pricing was very good for this quality of food.
Will definitely recommend the entire Auckland population to eat here.
Taste 5/5
Service 3.5/5
Ambience 3/5
Got the charcoal platter for 3. Food is really enjoyable although at an awkward spot in highland park. Always come out full but mainly due to the over generous supply of rice.
What an unexpectedly wonderful dinner. I was a bit skeptical at first when we arrived as the place was empty and quiet. I learned once again that you should never judge a book by its cover. Very impressed with the service (by Kaye) and the food was amazing! Will definitely be back with some recruits as the menu offers large platters for groups.
This place has some amazing food. I've been here a couple of times, and today I had the mixed charcoal platter for 3. No complaints at all, everything tastes amazing and clean as well. The various meats and rice are delicious and especially the condiments that accompany the platter. You have to go here.
For starter, got the hummus with meat, was great, thick creamy hummus and juicy meat full of flavour, and the bread was obviously fresh made and beautiful.
Then I got the musakhan (bottom of second pic) and my brother got the lamb cutlets dish (top of second pic).
If you know your middle eastern food then you know the musakhan needed way more sumac, nonetheless it was a delicious dish anyways and the chicken was so tender and there was heaps of flavour. My brother enjoyed his dish and I tried the lamb and it was soft and delicious.
Good food, good service, and the had some basbousa slices free to grab on your way out.👌🏼
Took a while for the food to come out but that’s the price of freshly cooked tasty food so we didn’t mind.
Came here with a group of friends on a Tuesday. The restaurant wasn't too busy. I felt the service was quite slow though. It was also strange that the drinks were only bought out with the food not beforehand. I ordered the lamb kofta. The meat was very juicy, cooked well and had nice flavours and the tahini sauce was delicious. The bread was nice but seemed store bought. and I got some extra sauce on the side to dip it into. I didn't get why the chips were with it but they were still nice.I would have prefered something traditional.
Quite a large restaurant with quite a large number of tables. The menu looks like they are quite good for larger groups to share platters.
I had the Khanz Mixed Charcoal main. The food was amazing. The meats were cooked perfectly so they were tender and juicy. The sauces that came with it were also really tasty. The rice had the right amount of bite and was quite tasty itself. Definitely a really delicious meal. Had the baklava for dessert and it was ok. I thought that it wasn't sweet enough. They did have three different types though.
Not a bad place to come to if you're in the area. They also have a three-course weekend lunch special for $15.90.
First time been there. Spacious environment, friendly staff. Good quality of food. It's tasty and appetizing. We prefer seafood so we ordered snapper and prawn.
Awesome taste and one of best dinning place in town. Taste is authentic and classic. Highly recommended. Charcoal platter is special and must be tried.
We went there last night - pre fathers day dinner. From the place to food to customer service...AMAZING!! Will def go back. The staff are super friendly to kids and adults equally.
We pre ordered because we know that it will take a while for serving. When we arrived, table was ready and in few minutes food was served. Place was massive and very tidy. We ordered Charcoal King Platter for 5. It was so delicious! Chicken, beef and lamb all were so tender. Rice was fresh and not oily. Tomato and garlic sauce was a hit! We had baklava and Arabic tea and was really good too! Price is definitely affordable for such platter. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.
If you feel like having something different and authentic related to medittarenean cuisine this is the place to be. The food is mildly spiced and it reflects the true essence of the cuisine. Loved the interiors, hummus, kabsa and the kebabs. Yummy and subtle flavours with mouthwatering side dishes.

Delicious food, flavours were fantastic. We ordered their biggest platter it says for 5 people but to be honest 3 hungry guys devoured the platter no problems. Hummus was interesting definately not what I was expecting in terms of taste but very smooth and nice. Overall we will be back again. Recommend you try the mixed selection to get a. Taste of the food :)
Really, really nice food. Meat was tender and tasty. Staff were kind, ambience was chill and spacious. Only thing was it took a little while for the food to.come but when it did the food was worth the wait have to say :)

Tried their Charcoal Chicken and Karahi Chicken. The food was delicious! The rice tasted so fresh and tasty!! I took one star because they took too long even though I had asked for takeaway. Took them 45 minutes. :/ will go there again but I advise calling them at least 1 hr before.
Huge, clean interiors with tasteful design. The food is fresh and delicious. We ordered the king charcoal platter and fried fish and we walked out from our birthday dinner happy. The service was great too! Can't wait to come back and eat more of their fresh bread and hummus. Oh my, that was a real treat!
After reading several reviews in Zomato, we decided to try out this restaurant. Indeed the place is massive. We were the only diners there initially but nevertheless, we enjoyed the clean and decorative settings. This restaurant seemed to be created out of love and passion for their country, the Middle East. The food too felt like it was cooked with love. We were in no hurry and after 30mins wait, our food came and they tasted so fresh. We ordered a chicken dish and a mixed platter. The rice was a bit dry so perhaps it would be nicer if the dish was drizzled with some yoghurt or similar dressing. This restaurant isn’t yet licensed but they are in the processed of applying and I am sure once licensed, the business will certainly pick up. The food is brilliant. We will be back for more. Highly recommended.
I have eaten in and take aways. Excellent food. Dolmades to die for. Goat was delicious and tender. Amazing flavours and good size meals. They were happy to swap rice for bread. I recommend them.
We had a great experience with Khanz.Ordered the charcoal king platter.Huge portion size!
Delicately flavored ,well cooked food..Finally! ordering in was far from greasy ,overly sweet (in the name of 'mild') food.
Will definitely go back for more.Cant wait to try the rest of the menu!
Also..silently praying the quality stays consistent.
Loved the food. Great service staffs were really nice and welcoming. Would love to go out again. Great place for family dinner out. Had a fun night
Yum! Was celebrating my birthday at Khanz. Got to know this place by my friend.
Pretty good food and /friendly restaurant waiter. We ordered the mixed platter with rice. The rice is real gem with full of flavour. Love it!
Clean and comfortable.
Recommended!
Been here a few times now. The food is beautiful and the service is good. We had a Korean girl serve us and she was so polite and accommodating to all of us since we were a big table of 11 guests. Very comfy spacious setting as well especially for kids,
Staff were friendly enough. Did not need to boom for a party of two on Saturday night. Arabic tea was really nice. Vine leaves for starters were lovely. We then had mixed meat platter with rice and salad and this was very Nice, the lamb chops were superb. Very good value for money. No alcohol available nor byo. Really nicely laid out but I think the white walls lacked some colour, maybe a few rugs? Definitely go back.
Amazing food with very good service thoroughly enjoyed from our starters till desserts. Highly recommended. Will definitely go in future Thanks to all staff for an amazing experience
This place is huge n beautifully presented.
You can have a full reception in here..such a massive space.
I been here more than 3 times and i really love the food n consistency. Dishes are simply beautiful and just delicious.
The portion is generous and you can have take away if u want.
No alcohol but you will leave this restaurant feeling satisfied.
I do love to see some wall display or a splash of colour such as a feature wall to add more life/dimension to this place 🤔😉
A must go. I highly recommend.
Lamb was beautiful and so tasty. Had baba ganosh(sp) for starters which was also very good. Not the best location but food made up for it. Had a drink at apple Jacks before and walked over just in case no booze turns anyone off😉
Came here a month ago.great quality yummy food with big portions. Loved the flavours.ideal place to be with kids as it's very spacey.loved the sauces.a must place.
Had such a great dining experience here.
The waiter who served us was extremely polite and very attentive. He even served us another plain bread served fresh and hot because he noticed our one got cold during eating.
Ordered the sheesh kebab which was delicious! The lamb was flavoured so well and tasted even better with the flavoured rice.
Also ordered the tandoori chicken which had zero faults.
Definately recommend
This place serves really delicious food. The balance of flavour in their rice is perfect. I’ve never come across anything like this before. Quite a hidden place so I hope more people will hear about it. The decor is nice too - maybe the owner should consider holding events there like wedding parties etc.
Tried them for dinner last night and I would say WOW. For starters, Falafel with Bread which was kind of Ok, in mains we had their charcoal platter, which was amazing... chicken and shish kebabs were very well cooked, they simply melt in your mouth, lamb chops were similar as well.. delicious, very well cocked. Last but not the least.. Flavoured Rice.. well cooked, blended with meat and sauces... Then came the best of the lot.. Kunafa.. well made cheesecake kind of desert.. meleted in your mouth and had all the flavours you could ask for.. I am there one happy customer who would find reasons now and then to visit them more often...
Located in Highland park and not in the most prominent area, this wouldn’t be a place that I would normally entertain. Being a neophyte to middle eastern cuisine it was through the constant badgering from my friend that I gave this place a go, gosh was my friend right.
Khanz certainly doesent disappoint in terms of delivering authentic and flavoursome middle eastern dishes.
The Khanz mix is more than enough for one person and the charcoal lamb with its smoky sweet flavour is the standout.
A great takeaway options here you get 20% on your orders.
Showstopper: Quality food, the seasoned and herb rice and attention to detail here is fantastic.
Overall Grade: A-
Tried tonight based on reviews. I was a bit worried because the place was empty on a Friday night. But the food was delicious. Tried hummus with meat, and babaganush. Delicious. Mains we tried a mix grill and chicken Kaur. The mains were also delicious. Tender and tasty. All in all great meal. Well price. Easy parking. Shame it's not busier. I will absolutely return.
This is such a nice and unique restaurant. It is quite hard to find proper middle eastern cuisine apart from the usual kebabs. I came her on Thursday evening to get the mixed charcoal grill to take away. It was freshly prepared and was piping hot when given to me. The ride home was really difficult because the food was smelling soooo good. I opened up the container and started eating straight away as soon as I got home. The flavours were delicious. The tomato and yogurt sauces that accompanied the meal were amazing. The meat was tender and the rice was fuffy and well seasoned. I truly enjoyed this meal and will be back with my family for my birthday dinner. Really nice to see an authentic middle eastern restaurant so close to home. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Good ambience, excellent service and good food makes eating dinner memorable! We ordered for Khanz mixed charcoal and Lamb kabsa, and it was beautifully served. We also liked the middle eastern set up of the restaurant with the lanterns and colour glass lighting, the swing and other tiny things set up around the entire place.
Regulars here, Karahi Platter and Flavored Rice just cant beat it. Nawab is a great host and makes sure you have a good experience right throughout.
Came here for dinner on a Sunday night, very quiet but good in a way because felt like having whole restaurant to ourselves haha the service was superb, real friendly staff. The food came quickly and was hot and yum!! Love the bread so much it was nice and crunchy. I had the chicken and friend had lamb. I would recommend chicken heheheh also had hummus and bread for starters. Afterwards, we had shisha just outside, again, staff is very nice and keep checking up to see how we are doing. Great atmosphere, love the decorations. Will definitely come back next time. :) thank you
Attended a family lunch. Great place with very authentic decor. Friendly staff & great location. The food is delicious & well prepared & presented. The air-conditioning needs to be better positioned & enhanced for cooling the huge size of the lavish hall. Very nice & most authentic seating & furniture. Tastefully decorated. Must try the starters platter & their lamb is just melt in the mouth. I am going again to try more of their yummy food. Only a small sacrifice is, its an alcohol free premise. But let that not detract us from the superb quality of their food menu. Very happy to see a spacious, clean & most tidy efficiently run restaurant. A word of praise & full credit to all their Chefs & wonderful wait staff. Indeed a pleasure to recommend to all good well spiced food lovers. Experience of good hospitality always leaves a good taste. So happy to see & experience a great place.
One of the best middle eastern restaurants in Auckland and a must try for everyone. Excellent service and superb food. The final busbusa dessert was excellent.
Best middle eastern food in Auckland. Nice and tidy with good menu and service. At last we have a good middle eastern restaurant in Auckland!!!
Great place here, bery spacious. The waitress was not knlowedgeable about the menu at all, sais she is new "3 weeks on the job"?!!
Food, however, was great. Flavoursome and plentiful and reasonably priced.
Excellent restaurant in all aspects from the delicious complementary tea to the marvelous service to the food never tested in all auckland. The prices are very reasonable. Nice place with the oriental touch decoration. Ample free parking. Highly recommended to anyone looking for tasty food.
Went here a couple of days ago, still very new but our waiter was excellent! He was very helpfull and accomodating. The food was very nice and really well priced, we had a mixed grill, jahlfrezie (i think thats how its spelt lol) chicken, and a kebab on rice type dish. The meat was all well cooked and tender and the portions were really good, the ambiance was nice and the place really clean including the bathroom facility. Happy to go back :)
Khanz started business about a month ago. We were offered complimentary Kahwah (a black tea) - a nice drink. We tried a combination of charcoal chicken, lamb fillet & Seekh kebabs with salad, and goat Nihari (a stew with slow-cooked meat) with 2 naans. Meats were tender & tasted amazingly well. Good food; good service; good experience. (Food - 4/5; Service - 4/5; Ambience - 4/5)
We had a table booked for our Christmas party and it was honestly the most beautiful place with yummy food. Great service top notch!!!! Definitely will be recommending to my family and friends! Well done Khanz! Thank you for the food and service
Such an affordable place to dine, the food is delicious and made to perfection. The lamb was cooked so succulent and the chicken was not dry and full of flavour (unfortunately I did not take photos of these dishes. I’ve come the second time around and ordered vegetarian meals; photos show the eggplant dish, lentil soup and the mezze platter it came with about 4 naan breads and we ordered rice on the side which was very tasty on its own - all vegetarian. For the price of food, it was good value! The outdoor area for shisha is so classy, best spot in south Auckland if you want to chill with mates. It’s covered and mellow, such a good vibe! Atmosphere is overall good, the aesthetics matched the cuisine and the customer service is so polite and welcoming! Thank you!
The ambience of this place is really good. There's indoor and outdoor seating... Food was great in terms of taste and flavour. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. We asked for a chilli sauce when we got the food and never got it. Also had to keep reminding them about our drinks...
Absolutely amazing vibe. The friendly staff were easy to deal with the food platters we ordered were absolutely delicious. The place was booked out, but they had an extended area at the back which made you feel like you were in a different country. Again the vibes were awesome the food was great the atmosphere had our table of five buzzing. Would definitely recommend to try this place out. We are definitely going there again
It was recommended by a friend. We had our work lunch there and it was delicious. Fresh and flavourful and fabulous service.
Generous food portions and very affordable. We were a big group so it was a 45 mins wait. Really enjoyed the tandoori chicken.
Great food. Always on point. Everything was perfect. Nihari was the best I have had in NZ. Will be back again.
Big plates and really nice food, super friendly staff! only downside was a bit of dirt on the cutlery and on our can, don’t think they deserve any less than 5 stars because everything else was awesome and there’s no other location like this unless you’re willing to travel far, 5/5 cheap for the amount you get
Love the colorful plates and unique cutlery. We shared the king charcoal platter. Was amazing. Very good price too 👍 try the Turkish coffee!
Khanz restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with a diverse menu showcasing authentic flavors. The ambiance is inviting, and the service is attentive. Standouts include their flavorful biryanis and well-executed kebabs. While prices are slightly on the higher side, the overall dining experience justifies the cost. A must-visit for those seeking a taste of exquisite Indian cuisine.
