I really loved our dinner here, we had a jug of Panhead, Calamari and Onion rings. The food was just amazing! Other tables food looked great too! Service was really good too, and ambience and decor great. I can't wait to go back 😀 10/10

Came here on a Sunday, after checking Zomato before going and seeing a number of negative reviews my expectations weren't high however I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too busy but there was a nice scattering of people around, something on the telly, everyone looked happy and cosy. I had the ribs which were beautifully tender and my boyfriend had the duck and hoisin pizza which he said was incredible but didn't like the pineapple on it, he asked for no pineapple but I guess they didn't hear. Would return!
There were four of us dining here, I had received a personal recommendation to try it. I like the way the bar had kept the decor theme inline with the buildings previous usage. It was nice and warm for a cool winter's evening. We had a nice selection of menu options, I chose the Grilled Peri-Peri Chicken Burger, a couple of the other had the Union Cheese Burger. We did not have to wait too long for our meals, everybody enjoyed their food, a couple even managed to squeeze in dessert as well.
Just as a note, you do need place your order for food and drinks at the bar.

Each surburb lies a best bar to hang out. Union Post is definitely the one for Ellerslie.
Renovated from the previous post office, you still touch the mark of the old merging the new. Tin post drawers still keep alive as a symbol.However, mostly act as an icon for this bar.
Entering on a cold winter afternoon, greeted by the warm gas fire, with piles of logs by the side, something warm lights up the mood, and also the appetite.
Take a glimpse of the environment around, art deco ceiling lamps, vintage mirror walls, rustic chairs all flow in space, making the whole atmosphere with quite a character.
Yes, it is named brewery&bar, so beer is essential. Non-alcohol drink also made by the Mac's, try lemon splash, or ginger beer. Wine list is average. But hey, go for beer!
As for someone who is not a beer-holic, Latte is not too bad. They put it right in the transparent glass which is such a relief.
As for food, nothing more proper with a pizza pairing a draught, or go with the Nacho. Beef mince with melting cheese and chili sauce to match the nacho, you wouldn't seek more. Nice waiter will ask you considerately, how much can you handle the hotness, we have rate 5, 8 and 10 here:)

PS: Every Tuesday try the Quiz night. It would be crowded but fun.
Come here regularly to chill out and relax. Great hang out for catch ups of all sorts. The service is always great -prompt and friendly, and the food never disappoints :)

I normally come here for a couple of cheeky drinks and maybe some bar snacks but that's all.
Consumed was onion rings, garlic pizza, chicken burger and a beef burger.
Onion rings were good but had to much batter on them. The side of relish was also pretty good but for me not quite enough (I like a lot of sauce when dipping). Garlic pizza was pretty good. Can't really go wrong on that one!
Chicken burger was pretty good. You can definitely taste the blue cheese sauce, however it's not overpowering. The spicy sauce was definitely there as well. The chicken itself was chicken thigh and pretty well cooked and flavorful. Next time I think I would order the beef burger though.
Everything on the beef burger looked super fresh and the patties were very flavorful. Definitely recommend.
Oh and the steak cut chips were piping hot and crispy - yummy!
Hadn't eaten here for a while, but it was the perfect central location to meet a friend for dinner.
They had a 2 for 1 pizza special so we decided to go for that. We chose the Prosciutto & Tandoori - both had a good amount of topping & all ingredients were fresh. There was a slight mix up with the pizzas but this was quickly remedied.
We decided to try a couple of the desserts - the chocolate tart was well presented & full of flavour. It was very rich though so good to have the berries to balance the richness.
The banana fritter was huge! Never seen such a big serving before. It was a little salty which was unusual but overall had good flavour. Needless to say we couldn't finish it. They did offer for us to take it away which we declined.
They had a good wine & beer list - we chose the Roaring Meg Pinot. Quite reasonable at $14.00
Service was good - friendly enough & efficient.
Will visit again when in the area.
Went there for a mid afternoon snack, and i was pleasantly surprised. I was super hungry after having to fast for a hospital visit, and i needed something more than a pie or a sandwich.
We ordered curly fries with aioli and tomato sauce, charred broccolini with garlic and lemon, and their salt and pepper squid. Our orders came very promptly and they were delicious! The curly fries were a little too salty but other than that everything else were nice! The squids were soft and juicy, and the charred broccolini was just to die for! I don't know what sort of magic they did to the broccolini but it worked!
Will definitely go back to try other things in the menu.
A nice trip to the Post Office :) April 2012 on a Grab One voucher, I had the angus eye fillet and a cold one to match. Food was awesome for pub style fair and do like Macs beers, love there wheat beer in the summer. Been to the Takapuna one too.
We came here for a catch up with friends. We had drinks and a few bites. The food was really good, especially the arancini. Staff were friendly and service was retry good if a bit slow at times.
We were here less than a year ago. Decided to come back for the burgers and shoestring fries. The beef burger and the chicken burgers didn't quite look the same. A bit more greasy than I remember. But hey, the taste was still pretty good. that's all that matters.
Best ribs in Auckland thus far.
After being in America 2 years and coming back to NZ with mostly lack-lustre ribs available here, to find a place with meaty, juicy and fall off the bone ribs was very dangerous.
Popcorn chicken there is also amazing.

Visited last week after a long long time and felt as though nothing has changed - in a good way of course. The menus seem to have changed slightly but we stuck with pizzas - both were very yum and served very quickly.
I absolutely love the decor inside and the seating area is pretty cool outside. It's such a cool little place to have a drink too.
Probably one of my fave brew bars!
Had a drink here while waiting for a table at a nearby eatery. We would have eaten here but got a call to leave shortly after ordering drinks.

Went here for dinner the other night for my birthday with a few friends. They were really busy for a Wednesday night. Service was great up until once we had finished our meals, the table got cleared very quickly and there was no offer for another round of drinks. We very much felt pushed to leave which was disappointing as we were all quite keen for another drink and dessert. That being our only complaint though we'll be sure to go back and try the desserts!
The food here is really good and the portions are huge!
I don't like the seating though - Inside: too dark and gloomy. Outside: sunny, bright and nice but people smoke there which is disgusting when you're trying to eat.

Been here twice also apart from coming drinking here with mates.
Although I am a passionate Guinness drinker I think I prefer Union Post/the post establishments more than the Doolans chain when it comes to nonliquid foods.
Todays visit hit a busy crowd nearly all but a few tables had had drinkers at 2pm. Quite a few large groups so trade was good.
Sadly looked like the bar were caught on the hop and insufficient staff were rostered on. Just one bar man and one waitress. This reflected in the slow service front of house. The kitchen however were fully loaded and on fire. The food was outstanding! ! Our party rated 4.5s and i rated 5.
Angus beef burger large fresh ingredients great bun and patty that was 15 mm thick! ! Came with a decent portion of beer battered chips. 5/5
Dish of sliders. We asked for chicken. Good size says for a snack 4/5
The pork ribs with salad and chips. These were prepared perfectly. Meat was so soft you could almost scrap it off the bones. Plenty of fleshy meat and you get three layers. The sauce was kinda barbecue flavoured and could have been less. Great if you want it on your beer battered chips though. Really good food. 5/5.
Mondays are 2 for 1 pizza nights, and it is so worth it!
We ordered one of the pulled lamb pizzas and the ocean. Both medium size. The ocean was slightly more favourable for me as I love seafood, but both pizzas were really good.
We also snagged some beer battered fries off the menu with no regrets.
So good! A very good dinner option, especially if you're too lazy to cook!
Came for lunch on a Saturday. Was not very busy so food came out quick. Great service, staff were friendly. Had the fish and chips and the beef burger. Both dishes were big portions which we loved! Burger was flavorsome and the giant onion rings were amazing. The fish and chips were good and the l and p batter on the chips were a nice touch. Would come again. Cost about $25 per dish.
We go over to the UPBB whenever we've been @ Mexico and we held my b'day there, last year, we were able to use the main private room and then moved out into the courtyard, @ no cost, we just ordered some food from their kitchen for our crowd of 30.
The staff there are always great to deal with and I like the layout of the Brewbar. I like the set up of all the Mac type bars, however this one has a fantastic large courtyard and also another outdoor area through their main function room. The pub serves the usual pub grub and has some great ales on tap too. It's a great pl for a bite and a drink and even a boogie if it's later in the night.
Me and my partner decided to cone here for a spot of lunch yesterday and couldnt fault it! The 2 guys working there were lovely and chatty and made us laugh a few tines! We had the $14 lunch menu and i had the steak samdwich which was really nice! Steak wasnt chewy so a good bonus! My partner had fish and chips and said he enjoyed it! Nice atmosphere and big fire to keep you warm! See you again soon!
Food is much better than pub fare. My partner loves the XL pizzas, which are exactly as the name states XL!. No favorite flavor in particular we usually do half n half what ever we feel like that night. I have had almost all the food on the menu. My go toos are the squid, popcorn chicken and pizza. For dessert I LOOOOVE the battered banana split. There's also loads of beverages to choose from, I like the fact they are served in mason jars. Great service each time I have been, awesome laid back atmosphere and setting. Keep an eye out on grab one for their well worth vouchers and buy one get one free pizza nights! ( excludes XL pizzas)
We regularly eat here as the food is a step up from pub fare. The meat pizza is exquisite and we always order it. The caesar salad is another favourite and a generous size. The Sunday kids sessions are the best invention of 2014 and long may they continue. We wish more venues offered this service - thank you to The Union Post for being so family friendly. On Sunday the 15th Feb we experienced pretty average service, not what we are used to but it did look like the owner / manager was off that day. We had to ask staff for menus, water, to order drinks, to order food and to order drinks again. They weren't even that busy. We will be back again soon and hopefully they have sorted out their staffing issues. THE FOOD SCRIBBLER
I went with a friend on a Wednesday night. It was my first time at this particular Macs bar, having previously frequented many of the others in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. I was blown away by the service; the staff went above and beyond at every opportunity. The food was good and the drinks were better. I will definitely be back to try their regular menu.
Loved the food. The presentation also ticks all the right boxes. Quite a happening place on a Friday evening.

3 of us went for an early lunch on Saturday. I like what they have done to the place, great outdoor area. Was fairly quiet when we arrived. Very friendly service from waitress and the bar manager. They had a 2 for 1 brunch deal on but we decided to order from the lunch menu. We ordered salmon & prawn linguine which was very nice. Terakihi & chips and a small pizza all of which were good. Prices are moderate. Nice place for lunch. Will go back.

Back again exactly one year later, Feb 2014. Staff were friendly and efficient, menu has something for everyone and the ribs were as good as we remembered them and still a HUGE portion so we shared these between two people with a side of beer battered fries! This place has a nice atmosphere, prices are reasonable and there is easy parking a short walk away.
Came here early Tuesday evening (Feb 2013)and were given menus promptly. Before the food arrived we were approached by the duty manager who advised that quiz night would be starting in approx 30 mins, and would we like to move to a quieter part of the bar before it started ? How thoughtful of him, lovely friendly guy who also checked how our meals were once we had started eating. The ribs here are to die for and the portion size is HUGE. I helped out with a couple of them but couldn't finish my chicken burger either(tender chicken breast, lots of bacon, aioli and salad with avocado)and we ended up with a doggie bag. Great atmosphere, great staff and great food.
Had a really nice meal here this evening. We had vouchers to use so it was extra good value & the food was excellent. Delicious chicken burger, yummy chips, delicious chicken tandoori pizza, extra delicious chocolate tart & coffee. A nice pub with varied ages. Friendly staff & nice atmosphere. Ate too much. WILL be back! :-)
Awesome relaxed atmosphere and service. We have been to this place a multiple of times and every time we have had really great service and not to mention really tasty food. The squid was plentiful and really yummy; the pizza was awesome - base not too thick with generous toppings. I would totally recommend this place and we will be back soon.

The S & P prawns are delicious, the hot pork and buffalo wing small plates are spicy but finger lickin good. Havent had the pizzas here but they look nice with plenty of toppings and a good selection of flavours. They do a Monday special on 2 for 1 pizzas which look great value for a quick lunch. Obviously cant use a voucher on that deal but a good option if you dont have one. Thanks heaps guys. Keep up the good work and thanks for the deal. Regards.
Yum! Been here a few times now & this is a fantastic addition to Ellerslie. I'm quite a ravioli fan - and the rav here was amazing. Hot new place to meet friends for a quick drink or have a meal.
A good spot for an after-work drink and shared pizza. The staff are friendly and the pizzas are all right. The outdoor space is quite pleasant and well-maintained - a fun place to hang out in summer!
We had our work function here, lovely venue, food was delicious, my only complaint, they could have brought the food out earlier and circulated a little more. Other than that staff were helpful and food was a great variety of too many delicious items to list. I would highly recommend their food.

We had a great experience here for a team lunch. A great menu which has great healthy options like bun-less burgers and some great salad options.

Busy on a Friday, but lively and fun. Fantastic music, and atmosphere. Grabbed some truffle fries and shared the 'Prawnstar' pizza which is my favourite and definitely suggest you try this pizza too! Prawn, and Sriracha hot sauce-Yummy ❤️ These guys have an awesome 2for1 pizza night on Mondays, and a very fun quiz night on Tuesdays.

The Union Post Brew Bar is a great place for a drink with friends and or to watch the rugby. Seating is couches and a couple of booths with varied tables, chairs and bar stools. Their is a area out the back you can book out, some times for free, or a minimum spend and minimum number of people as well. There is an outside area but if you don't like the smell of cigarettes you won't be able to go out there, shame as its a nice area outside rather than being inside all the time. Off their menu we have mainly tried their pizza's. They are pretty good with a variety of flavors to choose from and you can get small or large. On Mondays nights they have two for one deals.
Had a lovely meal with workmates on Sunday night. It was a great vibe and we all enjoyed our meals.
I was pleasantly surprised with the food we had here recently. It has been a long time between meals as we had a few fairly average experiences and decided to avoid the place for a while.
This time we ordered the Charcoal Bao with pulled pork and hoisin sauce, crispy fried chicken and of course hot chips.
We thoroughly enjoyed it all, the presentation was good and everything tasted fresh.
We washed it down with a cheeky Pilsner and were very happy we decided to give the place another go!

A wide selection of Macs craft beer on tap. I love a good craft beer and like their Great White beer. Definitely a good place to chill and chat after work or to meet up on the weekends. Plenty of seats both indoor and outdoor. Comfy cushions and decor indoor. Staff are friendly.
Sweet spot in Ellerslie! Lots of great beers on tap, friendly service. But mainly seriously AMAZING burgers!
Try the double beef, it is like Big Mac gone to heaven! And the fried chicken is made out your hangover's dreams! Great spot for lowkey catch ups.

A fantastic pub. Friendly staff who have always accomodated us, whether we were holding an event, popping in for a couple of casual drinks, or rocking up for a group dinner. Always a good spot to hang out with friends.
