Have Been Following The Instagram Page For A While Now And Had To Come In For The PieFee. Lived Up To All Expectations. Coffee Was Great Also And They Offer A Variety Of Milk Alternatives. The Pies are Well Made With Quality Ingredients. My New Favourite Food Place . 👅🔥
Finally tried the famous #piefee from @tastefulbakehouse ~ it definitely lived up to its name ~
I ordered Oreo based cup with flat white, of course ~ I was afraid that it would too sweet at first, but actually it was just perfectly sweet and chocolatey ~ which I finished easily~ Really worth a try ~
I was surprised by how good the coffee and my cupcake was because it looked like a generic cafe along Kroad. My friend took me here to have a catch up before I go for lunch. We decided since we didnt have much to do on a public holiday it was a perfect day to come here. The staffs are friendly and nice. The coffee was one of the best I had. The cupcake looked so yummy and tasted yummy as well. Definitely recommending this to all my friends. You can tell they had frequent customers by how busy it got arpund 11am.
I stop here all the time before work early in the morning around 6.30am, and to my surprise (due to the time) it is always so busy with a range of people having a delicious breakfast. This is a gem of a place with a busy and comfortable little vibe presenting delicious food and coffee.
They are known for their famous "PieFee", which is coffee in an edible tart casing. Although I haven't tried it, it is definitely on my list and I think everyone should try one as I have heard only good things, and plus who doesn't like the sound of that concept?
I have had various food items at this place and continue to try more and more things as everything sounds and looks so delicious. As I try more I will definitely add my top recommendations to this review. The best part for me however is the coffee. The coffee is awesome and you can't ask for much more than that at 6am. So if you are ever passing by make sure to grab a coffee as you won't regret it.
The staff are all very friendly and the service is prompt, and I would recommend this place to anyone. My only observation that I would like to see change is the lack of gluten free options, with my partner having an intolerance this is always something I look out for.
This review is definitely going to be updated as time goes on to add the true winners in the food department here, but I wanted to get this review out there as it is a fantastic little place. Not only is one of the only places open so early it also has such good food and coffee. This place has quickly become a regular for me and it is time to start fully exploring that menu.
I keep coming back every time im in the area. I have been smashing through nearly everything that they have to offer in the hot and cold cabinets. Its very hard to fault this outlet.
Great coffee and great food. All the pies are delicious, breakfast pie is a winner for sure. Piefie is a must try at least once. Coffee in a edible cup, yes please. This outlet also makes the best scones ever. Date or cheese you will not be disappointed, just be sure to get more than one.
The premises is a lil small and can get a lil busy at times but is well worth the wait. There is a lil seating area inside and out the front.
Prices are reasonably cheap and staff are friendly and helpful.
Got a sausage roll from here a while ago and it was really yum! The filling had lots of flavour and the pastry was flakey:)
The staff here are always nice and they have a great selection of things to choose from their cabinet
Where have all the good old kiwi bakeries gone? Well here's one... luckily this place exists! Their breakfast pies are boss and their coffees are all good too...latte art on point! and the staff are super duper friendly. Their piefee (coffee in like a dessert pie) is quite unique and worth just trying. I would give this place 10 stars if I could
Am great friends with the owner. Yummy food an delicious hot an cold drinks. I enjoy coming for a coffee during the cold season an during summer I enjoy their cold drinks. Enjoy their yummy sandwiches.
I visited the cafe because my hostel is near here.
The Creme donuts is yummy and cheap:)
The one and only piefee is also good to try.
The owner created it and he told that it’s very difficult to make the pie strong enough to pour coffee.
It is nice cafe that I recommend you to go there!
Came here during the week and I had ordered a chicken avocado roll and a piefee. Both were delicious. With the piefee, you get to choose what sort of coffee you would like and also the pie base flavour e.g. oreo, gingernut e.t.c. Great coffee here and a wide variety of foods to choose from. The people were also friendly. Would go again.
Oreo piefee was on point, and some great cakes and slices. But the winner was the lemon meringue tart! Phenomenal. Yet to try their pies but the top pastry looks thin and layered, above and beyond for a savoury pie!
Wouldn‘t have come to this cafe if I hadn‘t heard about it before because you would just stop there while walking by as the place looks pretty average. But staff was very friendly and the coffee is obviously amazing! It is served inside a sweet pie (you can choose the flavor) and just tastes delicious!
Oreo Piefee base tasted amazing when put together with hot chocolate. Their hot chocolate was also
very flavourful and is one of the best I've tasted. I would definitely go again to try their sprinkles and red velvet piefee base. Steak in steak and mushroom pie tasted tender and was a good homemade pie to try.
Had heard about the Piefee and had to try it. Plenty of crusts to choose from. I settled on a latte in a gingerbread crust.
After a short time, the latte started to taste like a gingerbread latte taking on the flavours of the pie crust.
I can't wait to try them all eventually. Great strong coffee and lovely crusts, not too sweet which is great. Great selection of cabinet foods and pies aswell
Tasteful Bakehouse, easily one of my favourite spots in New Zealand. My favourite order is a Sprinkles PieFee (coffee made barista style inside of a biscuit shell pastry/edible cup), a delicious experience like no other! The donuts, lemon meringue treats, cakes and savoury pies are also super top notch! And of course, the friendiest staff :)
Went last weekend to try out the piefee after reading about it on urbanlist! great combo of a coffee in a cookie! both cookie and coffee tasted amazing, + worth the instagram photo. Friendly staff :)
Piefees are amazing! Tried chocolate chip but keen to try cinnamon chip next time 😊 I had my first SampIfee which is the result of serving Piefee at Serato for the release of Sample!
My friend an I heard about the Piefee and had to try it out. Coffee in a biscuit cup. We went here on Thursday.
There's great service. The couple are friendly and attentive. There's a good amount of seating outside. But the bakehouse is cramped withone small table inside.
My friend and I both ordered a Piefee. She ordered a flat white whilst I went for a chai latte. You get to choose your biscuit base as well, between a plain or chocolate chip biscuit. We both went for the chocolate chip base.
But with my chai latte. After the first sip it tasted nice. But it was verging on warm, it could have been hotter. And as the drink went on, it got overly sweet as the chocolate layer melted. The biscuit was sturdy but tasted slightly overbaked. With the chocolate coating recommend a less sweet coffee such as a flat white
The Piefee is something novel to try, but I wouldn't order another.
Quaint little shop on K Rd. Nice for something on the go.
This bakery is right next to my work place, and is definitely our colleagues' go-to place for lunch.
They make beautiful pies and coffee. There is also a good selection of hot food (e.g. Chips and fried chicken), sandwiches, and sweet things. I especially recommend their white loafs - so big and fluffy, and lasts really well. They make delicious cream-filled donuts too.
They are constantly coming up with new products - my current favourite is the Oreo lava pie!
If you have a special occasion coming up, their cupcakes, which are gorgeously iced and presented in a box are sure to please.
All in all, this is one of my favorite bakery. The owners are the loveliest people, and give really good recommendations. The perfect place to grab a sweet bite.
Unofficially known as "Strip Club Bakery", this place has a chicken avocado sandwich that you would probably sell your kidneys for, knowing you.
The Best homemade pie on K rd for under $4!
Friendly Service
Fresh sandwiches with homemade bread
Delicious Chicken and Chip
No nonsense pie and coffee place. They have the best potato top and steak and cheese pies, imo. Really good coffee too. I always come here when I visit Auckland.
Been meaning to visit Piefee for a while. Their Piefee coffee is an interesting concept, worth trying but make sure you read their instructions (on the menuboard) before doing the wrong thing lol. Their supreme pie award listing - chicken spinach feta pie was good. The pastry was nice and flaky, the filling was good however not up my alley as i would pair with a good hot sauce. Their spicy prawn and donuts seem to be a hit with others - overheard most ordering those, something for next time. Staff is super friendly.
I and my family love their breads and pies! One of our loved places. The pies are nicely crispy and the fillings are just so delicious! We especially like their almond croissant, chicken pies, and spicy seafood pies. Highly recommended.
Had breakfast here while on business trip in Auckland Sep 2022. The weather was nice during this transition period between winter and aping and it wasn’t raining though it was forecasted to. Walked here from hotel on Queen St. it’s along the main road and hard to miss. Place was busy (mostly take out) while I was there.
Good variety of hot food (pies but also sandwiches) and the usual breakfast fare of croissants and donuts. Had the curry lamb pie with hot chocolate - both were very good. Woman before the counter is super nice.
Recommended for breakfast. Was here at 730 am and not many places were open.
I used to think East Auckland pies were the best (apart from north shore) but these pies top every bakery in east Auckland especially for only $6. I’ve had some very bad pies for $7 this was a really yummy stop I had to stop myself from getting 3pies in the time span of one week 😂
Amazing steak and pepper pie. The crust was very flaky and the sauce was delicious but not overly rich. The meat chunks were well spread and cooked to a medium well level
Friendly stuffs, great coffee and reasonable prices for food. In love the amazing PieFee which is the perfect combination of coffee and chocolate cookie. What a brilliant idea and highly recommend to give a try! Cant wait to head back to try out their homemade pies too!
Thank you for the amazing experience!
Pies have become more "gourmet" in the last decade, and Piefee does it well at a reasonable price. On the savoury side, I've tried the vegetarian pie and vegetarian quiche, both of which are incredible - literally among the best pies I've ever had, and I don't usually like pies.
They also do incredibly good custard pies (which are a personal guilty pleasure) and I suspect their other sweet treats are also great.
Their signature food/drink and namesake is the "Piefee" (pie + coffee). A novel idea (and nice to try at least once), it consists of a coffee that uses a pie crust base as a "cup". The crust has a caramel-like liner, preventing the coffee from seeping through, and sweetening the coffee as you drink it.
Overall, highly recommend trying a pie here
We stopped by to grab some drinks and snacks for morning tea. I was wanting to try their piefee (but chocolate) but they weren't serving them until they were open for sit down service again. The piefee is a coffee served in a sweet pie crust.
I ended up getting an iced chocolate and the custard doughnut. Both were tasty but the chocolate cover of the doughnut was mostly in the paper bag after bringing it back. I also tried the cheese scone and the caramel slice and both were tasty.
I am keen to try the chocolate piefee once they are back.
When I heard there were coffees inside pie shells I had to give it a go.
PieFees are mini pie shells lined with caramel and chocolate, then filled with the drink of your choice! I opted for a flat white and my partner got a mocha. That was a hot chocolate heavy but he learned his lesson and got a regular flat white in it next time.
I’m able to get decaf and non dairy milk too.
The coffees are excellent even if you don’t get a PieFee and the staff are so nice. We came in once after they had put the chairs up and we’re going to get our coffees to go, but they offered right away we could sit in there to have our drinks if we wanted and chucked a few chairs back down. We didn’t even ask, they just offered.
The cabinet food selection is good too and I usually get the spinach feta quiche. Sweet and savory both available.
Fresh bread is available and very soft, not overly hard crust like a lot of places.
Perfect spot to sit in the morning on a weekend or lazy afternoon during the week for a break.
Make sure to sip a PieFee over your plate or with your plate. Don’t be like my partner and eat the shell while the coffee is still in it 🙃
Went for the French toast pie and although it was my favorite it's definitely worth a try. Spicy prawn pie was everything and the piefee took a while to eat afterwards but delicious (Highly recommend).
Great clean store. Friendly helpful staff. The pies and piefee are a Auckland must experience.
I highly suggest the French toast pie the smell as you cut or bite it open is heavenly divine.
Pour maple syrup over it and the taste is just as it's smells.
I had the choc chip piefee with mocha and you get warm melted chocolate from the edge of crust as you drink it which is extra yummyness.
Once you've drunk it all the crust is still nice and firm to crunch on.
Coffee was delicious, breads were great prawn piè was very interesting.
Staffs were very kind and coffee had just as same drawing as photo on the wall.
I just found this cafe today morning because of that biscuit coffee bowl but everything made my day waem and wonderful^^ thanks
But just little tip, when you order that biscuit coffee, make sure to drink most of coffee first then eat that base.. haha
Amazing!
What a genius idea to combine pie & coffee.
An eatable pastry cup + nicely make coffee.
Eating crunchy delicious pastry cup while enjoying a nice cup of coffee.
Love it!

2.5 stars for the pie only because I’m on an everlasting pie rating journey across New Zealand and am comparing it to every pie I’ve ever eaten on said journey so my criteria is harsh. Polite people. Simple straightforward service, nice spot to sit in outside.
I realised I'm in here alot. I love the pies. Mince and cheese, steak and cheese and potato top are really good.
Buy a coffee get a donut for $1.
If you come in close to closing they have some really good bargains on sandwiches.
Lovely staff/owners.
No plastic here too!
The pastry indeed very flacky and buttery. Must try the unique coffee in biscuss base, fun way of drinking coffee.
Congratulations to PieFee for being a Bakels Supreme Pie winner for 2021! I make sure to get my fix at least once every weekend. The staff are so friendly and feel like family.
I think I've tried each of their pies by now including the limited Mie goreng pie last year. My favourite is the spicy prawn as it is actually spicy for my taste. The rest of my family enjoys the BLAT on sourdough bread, chicken avocado roll, and double happy sausage roll. It is on my list for cheap eats, but definitely not cheap in quality.
