Went here for lunch with my friend, hands down the most fresh and lovely chicken and mixed kebabs we had served to us. Tucked away gem with humble setting. Service was great, and most importantly the food was cooked beautifully for us. Had a great lunch meal that exceeded expectations for sure. Will surely be back here!
Great service and good laughs! Good vege and vegan options. Best spot in Grafton, always good authentic coffee and turkish food.
Had falafel, hummus and another time mousaka. Everything was tasty and presentable. The best option in that area of Grafton.
We were out nearby and fancied this cuisine. Love this app for saying what's nearby! This popped up so we went. Really pleased we did. Great menu. Great looking dishes on the tables inside. Really good value. We will definately be back!
nice cozy place for lunch....food is good, served fast.we went their on a team lunch from office and we were pleased by the food and service. overall it was a good exp and would rate them 4
One of the better cafes around Grafton. The food they serve is quite nice and does have nice flavour. They also serve a really tasty moussaka. Generally happy with the meals here. It is pricier than the other cafes around and the portions are ok.
Really friendly service and nice food.
A small Turkish cafe located in Park Rd. I have been here for a cope of time. Both their pita bread and salads tasted pretty good. Will try their main dishes at some points.
Great find in Grafton! Tucked away towards the end of the string of Grafton shops, offers a great range of Turkish dishes including all the usual favourites.
I had the chicken iskender which was delicious and presented very nicely with perfect portion sizes. My friends tried the kebab and the spicy lamb salads which they both really enjoyed as well. It really is a shame it's hidden away!
A really nice little local place that does simple Turkish food well. No pretenses, it is not trying to be fancy or upmarket. A decent meal, a Turkish beer or two, or a glass or red or white. Great for the local student and hospital population. We frequented this place when we lived in Grafton until 7 years ago, and happy to find it still here now we have moved back!
I think this cafe ought to be a better rate. I didnt try other options but the pita is really nice. if you want to a quick and healthy lunch this cafe is worth a try.
Gorgeous food and heaps of vegetarian options. It's a shame grafton is so student-ridden as it appears a bit too good for the student budget- but in actual fact the food is so well priced for the quality and amount. Hopefully grafton sharpens up a bit and this place can get the recognition it deserves.
Great food and the portion sizes are good.
It's decently priced so ideal for a Student budget.
Very authentic and fresh Turkish food.
Would definitely recommend
Karadeniz is a Grafton institution! There is a reason why it's been around forever and there's a reason why it's busy on a midweek or inclement evening. The food and Semih's warm hospitality are consistently wonderful. Whether you go for the healthy, yummy food and/or the ambience of a catch up with friends you won't be disappointed.
The food at Cafe Karadeniz appears simple, but the flavours have remarkable depth. Karadeniz is known best for its range of Turkish Cuisines and the reputation is well deserved. A host of other goodies, including delicious Entrees, salads, and remarkable Turkish coffee, line the shelves, offering something for the whole family and everyone. The shop is both clean and tidy—despite having limited space and all the staff members there greeted my companions and me with smiles as warm as the heart-warming meals they serve there. I would highly recommend Cafe Karadeniz to everyone especially ones who would like to explore the world of Turkish Cusines. I know I'll certainly be returning soon.
I have dine on a Friday night at Cafe Kardeniz twice while my father has been in Auckland Hospital and each time the food and service has been absolutely surperb! I wish we had a Turkish Cafe of the quality in Tauranga!!!
We live nearby, and often drop by when cooking is too much...
Karadeniz is a low key, friendly place for decent Turkish food at decent prices. There's usually just one or two staff, so be prepared to be patient if there's a few people in. Great pictures to look at while you're waiting, too!
Can't fault them on what they do
Simple, casual venue with fresh and well presented food. A step up from the average kebab shop, with a more varied menu and accordingly slightly higher price. The mezze platter is a good way to try a bit of everything, and I enjoyed the mantar dolma in particular. Friendly service, and extra brownie points for providing a candle for free once I mentioned the slice of cake I was buying was for the birthday boy. However, there were a couple of items on the menu that were not available, such as the lentil soup and raki (aniseed spirit). Also towards the end of the evening, the room began to smell like Dettol as the staff were obviously cleaning.
Nice little place to come to. Good tasty food matched with good service. Would suit me if they opened on Sundays but I guess people have to take a break from it all as well.
Have eaten here a bunch of times! Fantastic food! Well priced! Great friendly staff. Our favourite place to eat out.. Can't wait to go back!
Had a lamb & mixed pita with meze for two and my partner and I loved everything. The meze was absolutely fantastic the pitas were jam packed with tasty fillings we could'nt fault it. We will definitely be back.
I have eaten at 'Cafe Karadeniz' on many occasions as my boyfriend lives nearby, we often pop down there when he can't be bothered cooking. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. (Girls, the owner is very easy on the eye.) ; )
The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. I recommend you leave enough room for the Citrus and Coconut cake, *with cream* it's divinely indulgent.
I love this place! Caught up with some girlfriends, one from Christchurch, who used to be a regular there with me and they delivered, again. The food is fresh and delicious with unobtrusive but friendly and familiar staff.
I highly recommend Cafe Karadeniz and can't wait to get back there!
Wonderful spot for a relaxed meal. The food is fresh and delicious (and reasonably priced). The décor is delightful but not pretentious. I'll definitely be going back!
Neat little Turkish cafe that's a cut above the usual kebab shop. You might get given the same assortment of salads for practically every dish, but they are colourful and fresh.
Nice option if you can't be bothered cooking dinner - the place is friendly and casual, and the dishes are healthy with protein, and a good contribution towards your daily 5+ serving of vegetables.
Not much in the way of desserts, which might be a good thing too. You can choose from baklava or Turkish delight.
One of the better cafes around Grafton. The food they serve is quite nice and does have nice flavour. They also serve a really tasty moussaka. Generally happy with the meals here. It is pricier than the other cafes around and the portions are ok.
Really friendly service and nice food.
The photos says it all. We took a before and after pictures to show that we cleaned the plate. Prices matches quality and quantity. The owner was very welcoming and certainly know about hospitality in these times when not many customers are around. Thank you sir for serving us delicious food.
I only found this place because I stepped out from the hospital for a moment. Was looking for a kebab but didnt expect to find such a deliciously authentic dining experience just down the street. The service was great and the food was a real highlight of the day, on a day that my neice was born. 🤷🏼♂️ I had the vegetarian combination. 😙👌🏻
I have been a regular customer of Cafe Karadeniz since the doors opened two decades ago - their food, service and surroundings have always been stellar, but I had to place a special review after our beyond-outstanding experience on Friday night. There were 21 of us in our group, PLUS the rest of the restaurant was full - as always, the food and the service was amazing, but the best part of our experience was that owners Monica and Sehmi were gracious hosts and laughing with us the entire night, and they didn't miss a beat! They deserve six stars ******. There you go! Thank you so much, Sue (Warning: you eat too much because the food is so good, so wear stretchy pants :-) - that's a good thing).
Wonderfully simple and fresh. Spices were not overpowered, just right for me. His red cabbage salad is to die for,and I've tasted many. I had a mixed meat dish- lamb, chicken and mini beef patties with yoghurt dressing and humus with tomato paste just beautifully balanced. Wonderful experience
Have been eating here for almost 20 years. Best Turkish I know of in Auckland. Side salads that are super fresh, excellent Moussaka and Iskenders. Really good vegetarian option. Pleasant atmosphere, and owner Semih is a gem. Wonderful !
It is consistently great, and has been a welcome feature in Grafton for over 20 years. Have been a regular customer & I love how humble and excellent this café is. Serves excellent Turkish cuisine, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, staying open until 10 p.m. weeknights.
Have been here several times and the service is simple and no fuss. The food is good, prepared well and tastes good. Its a bustling busy place and the din can be an issue for some. However if you're wanting great service and your meal promptly try them out.
The coffee here is ALWAYS great. I've only had the food a couple of times but it has been good too. Service with a smile, friendly staff who care to remember regulars.
Terrific salmon salad!!! And lamb moussaka was delicious, too!
What a fantastic cafe! The food is really made with love. Each component is obviously made from scratch. Best falafel I have ever tasted. The place looks humble but the food will surprise you!
The friendly owner of cafe Karadeniz offers up some of the tastiest and most authentic Turkish food in town. The lamb moussaka is moorish and the lentil soup has a mouthwatering level of acidity plus the addition of grilled capsicum gives the broth a subtle smokiness and sweetness that rounds it off beautifully. The cafe is licensed and has a good selection of beer and wine, and their coffee is among the best in the area. The location is handy for those visiting Auckland hospital, just 200m down the road, and the seating and atmosphere are ideal for families, couples and large groups. The cafe also offers take away.
Lovely restaurant, delish food! Friendly service. Felt like I was transported to another land. Will definitely go back.
The food is consistently good. I have been eating here for years. Casual and friendly atmosphere.
Great food and lovely family own & operated eatery, go support this local establishment and enjoy their Falafel Pita and Baklava!
The standards have not slipped in 10 plus years. My favourite is the falafel main....beautiful salad with perfect falafel & humous. I would suggest the efes dark as a drink match. German black lager brewed in Turkey. These guys are the bench mark for perfect turkish food...the real deal.
