Dined here on a Wednesday evening, wasn't too busy with three other occupied tables, but plenty of take away orders.
I feel like it's a hidden gem/secret.
Food was authentic. Tasty. Flavoursome.
Ordered the mixed entree, the prawns, pad Thai chicken and the cashew nut duck, roti and rice.
I highly recommend these dishes.
Visited this place on Saturday (15/Feb), both the food and the customer service were very good, will definitely eat at this place again.
Had prawn pad Thai and the spring rolls with prawn. Great service and food, the pad Thai was balanced and had a good amount of prawns in it
Loved the service and the food. Had Vegetarian Green Curry with tofu & Jasmine rice and also Pad Thai Vegetarian. Would recommend this place highly to all the Vegan & Vegetarian eaters out there.
We went for a family dinner with young children. Delicious food! Very nice service, friendly and patience to children. Especially the crab curry “Poo Kari” is just unique and super tasty!
Discovered this little takeaway/dine-in restaurant a few months ago with my partner and have to say, we're constantly in a state of '... skip cooking tonight and let's go to Thai Silver??' The place is addictive especially when living so close by!
What's great is the amazing tasty food topped off with very attentive service from the lovely ladies working there. The restaurant itself doesn't usually get too busy from what I've observed but at the same time is pretty occupied with takeaway orders, so clearly people are on to how top-notch the quality of their food really is, particularly with generous portions.
Highly recommend the green curry and pad Thai! So simple but so good.
Love this place for a cheap and cheerful BYO. Always has great food and service. Special mention to the red duck curry it is to die for. Always leave happy :)
I feel this place should get more recognition. It has beautiful food, the currys are to die for!! The staff are lovely, we always leave satisfied and happy. Thanks guys ☺️
We started with mixed entrées, fish cakes & coco prawns skewers. Fish cakes were nice, but prawns were bland. For the mains, we had deep-fried whole snapper with sweet chilli & garlic sauce, a basil tofu & pineapple fried rice. Fish was good; rice was a bit sweet but OK; tofu was disappointing - hardly any tofu was visible & dried basil couldn't bring out the flavour. Banana sticky rice & dragon ball (deep-fried ice-cream) were special. (Food - 3.5/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)

Love this place! The staff are always so lovely and friendly and the food is always great! The green chicken curry is particularly nice. Perfect sized portions, the only reason I wouldn't give it five stars is that the entrees are a little overpriced for what you get. However still my favourite Thai place in the area
All I can say Is we have Excellent Service, an Excellent meal to top it off the wine was great as well. The Green Chicken Curry was fantastic, tender chicken with fresh vegetables. The starters we had were also very tasty and definitely worth a try. Homemade Fish cakes - Yes prepared on site not bought in, is a change and the chicken satay were succulent and very tender. Well done Judy - Fantastic.
Wow! I'm a big fan of Thai food and this place was amazing.
Out of the entrees I tried the Chicken Satay Skewers, the Vege Tempura and the Fish Cakes. The Satay skewers will cooked perfectly, with a generous, thick satay sauce. The Vege Tempura was perfectly cooked and crisp, and also served with some satay sauce (yum!). The Fish Cakes were so flavoursome, not overly greasy like you can get sometimes, and had a tinge of spice to them. They were great and I would definitely recommend them to any Fish Cake aficionados.
For mains I tried the Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Massaman Curry, Sizzling Pepper Beef & The Angry Bull.
The Chicken Pad Thai was delicious - note, the serving size here was not as generous as you get at other Thai restaurants, but it was Delicious (capital D intentional) - full of flavour, with big chunks of chicken throughout it.
The Beef Massaman Curry was great - I'm a very very big fan of this curry at restaurants and I am normally quite a harsh judge, but the big chunks of beef were so tender and fell apart in my mouth, and the curry sauce was fantastic, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is after a great curry!
The Sizzling Pepper Beef was full of onion and peppers (capsicum) and was very good. Possibly my least favourite dish of the night, but by no means bad or disappointing. My partner always loves the sizzling beef dishes, and for him this was great.
My favourite dish of the night: Angry Bull. This is listed as Hot on the menu (and I love hot and spicy food), so I was excited to try it. More of a hot Medium than a hot dish, it was amazing. Full of flavour and depth, with a pile of curried beef on a plate (no veges), I was truly impressed. I will be returning just for this dish, because even now writing about it, I want more. If you can handle some spice, I strongly recommend this dish.
The service was fantastic, with friendly and attentive staff I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Like the other reviewers, are we all going to discuss the number of times we've visited Thailand (quite a few times) or the different number of Thai restaurants we've visited in NZ (also quite a few), or even the different number of countries where we've eaten Thai (again a few), or are we just going to review this restaurant?
I've always been a fan of Thai food, and in the spirit of regaling the readers of this site with some more Thai tales, I do remember the time I had a transcendental Thai red curry on the iconic Ko Phi Phi island in the middle of the azure Andaman Sea (for about $2), and then the following day or so flying to Zurich and that evening going to dinner at one of Zurich's top Thai restaurants (Blue Monkey - google it), and ordering the same dish :-) BUT this time for Fr40 (converts to $60.....) and even though it tasted great, it was an thought provoking contradiction...
Getting back to this review, the spring and prawn rolls weren't great (too stodgy), but the chicken fried rice and cashew nut chicken tasted fantastic. We used to go to Erawan all the time, but maybe we need to come here more often (order through website if you want delivery).
I've been here a couple of times now and always have a fantastic experience.
The food is delicious with a wide variety of options for vegetarians and meat eaters. The meals are quite big, my meal turns into 2. Providing me lunch for the following day which is a huge plus.
Really friendly staff and great service.
Excelente Massaman. Atención simple pero cordial y preocupada. Además aproveché la oferta de almuerzo, resultando barato.
El plato muy buen presentado, y de excelente sabor.
Wonderful food at affordable prices, staff are super friendly. Great for takeaways and also the perfect place for a BYO. Cheap and cheerful Thai that never disappoints! The pad Thai and seafood red curry are delicious.
We live down the road and have been meaning to try this place for a while! Saw a voucher online and grabbed it and it is the best decision i made. Food was amazing sooo much flavour and great portion size. The service was very warm and inviting. I had the Chicken with ginger and pepper and it was WOW! The hubby tried the Drunken Duck and we were presently surprised by how good it was. SUPER IMPRESSED and will certainly be visiting again!
My wife and I dined there last night with our 2 daughters after movies, my wife is Thai and often very critical of Thai cooking in NZ, so I was a little surprised that she said it was very good, I thought mine was excellent and very tasty as well. The staff/owners are very welcoming and friendly and the meals well priced. We will certainly be returning.
I went to this restaurant with a friend last week and it was very enjoyable night. The restaurant staff was excellent and friendly. Food was fantastic at reasonable price for both food and drink. Great food , good service, new , clean and warn welcoming. Easy to find the car park is just off the street in front of the restaurant. We will definitely return to this restaurant again.
I have been to Thailand 3 times and have eaten Thai food every week more than once for 14 years with all different varieties, home cooked, take away and 5 star.
The quality of Thai Silver is good, very friendly people.
We had a very nice Thai meal with the family.
I would recommend you trying this out if you want a nice meal and good service.
Thanks guys.
Tried this restaurant after reading reviews. Lovely staff, very friendly and not in your face. Nice, relaxed atmosphere that may have had something to do with why the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to my husband, when the owner got wind of it and brought out an 'on the house' dessert with birthday candle. A definite 5 for the experience!
All the entrees of our table of 6 were excellent! My only comment would be that I found some of the thai flavours in the mains to be a touch too sweet, but that is probably a matter of taste.
Definitely worth trying out and hope the business is a great success!
Excellent service, and amazingly good value. We enjoyed the quiet friendly ambience of Thai Silver.
Service and staff and value: 5 stars
Convenient parking: 5 stars (right outside!)
Cozy, clean, comfortable and quiet atmosphere: 4 stars.
Probably, I would genuinely give my food choices a 3.5 star. That said, this is probably a personal taste issue, because I ordered the tofu version of green curry as well as deep fried tofu entrée with peanut sauce. I did like it, and ate almost every bit of it... though I prefer my tofu to be a bit silkier and moister inside, while crispier and less dry on the outside. Personal taste, I guess.
My favourite dish was the spring roll appetizer. Also, the vegetables that came with the green curry were extremely delicious, in that classic green-curry kind of a way, with lots of yummy bamboo.
Wine was incredibly good value for Herne Bay, at only $6.50 for a glass (although they made this complimentary tonight - bonus!).
It's a good little Thai place which made a great mid-way meeting point for dinner out with my friend who travelled over from the North Shore :)
I was told about this new restaurant by a colleague and went along with 3 work friends for dinner. The meal was superb and the service was excellent. I love Thai food and would highly recommend this restaurant.
This lovely little restaurant opened at the top of our street a couple of months ago. We've been three times now (twice plus takeaways this evening) and have found the food and service consistently excellent. We were pleasantly surprised with the portion size with our takeaways this evening -- another great meal. Excellent value, lots of fresh veggies in the curries, will be back.
Went there a couple of weekends ago to celebrate my sisters birthday before heading off to a show and what an amazing find!!! Experience overall was fantastic, food was amazing, portions were excellent, service was super, told the waitress we wanted to take the chef home and she said unfortunately she couldn't allow as chef is her husband :) Will definitely be going back.
Having recently opened this was a new discovery me in Herne Bay. This is a small warm and welcoming restaurant with simple decor and deliciously cooked food from an excellent chef and it's the excellent quality of the dishes that gives this new establishment its point of difference.
Best Thai we have eaten in a long time. Have tried dine in and take away and we were super impressed by the food and service.
Nice spot in town. Service was good, slightly forgetful at times. Very delicious food and they serve you quite quickly too. Will definitely be back here at some point as I was struggling what to decide to order as it all sounded so good.
We just can't speak highly enough of Judy, the Co-owner, and the staff at Thai Silver. We have been going here for years for our anniversary and tonight the service and food was excellent, tasty and authentic. Thank you again.
Visited with friends and food was exceptional as always.
Good Thai restaurant, excellent services well priced menu.
Four Stars
Great service, very polite and accommodating. The food is fresh and has a nice flavour. A neat little find.
Really delicious food! Our local go to restaurant for a late night takeaway. The Pad Thai is too yummy! I also love the satay chicken. Always so friendly and welcoming staff. Good prices and big portions.
Lazy Monday called for takeout Pad Thai, and it was delicious! The best I have had in ages. Ordering was easy with Menulog, staff were friendly on pickup. Prices standard for Herne Bay. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Nice and authentic Thai food. Very polite staff.
Ordered massaman curry, pad thai, roti and chicken wings. Yummmmmm! I could drink the massaman curry sauce on its own or have it as a dipping for the delicious roti. Sah good. Wings were tender. Pad thai was good. Would DEFINITELY order from there again.
Food is always delicious and service is prompt and courteous :)
A wonderful experience tonight for my group of ten. The most important thing for me was that the service was polite and friendly. The girl serving us was really sweet and helpful. I felt grateful to the owners/staff for allowing me to bring my birthday cake. Aside from that the food was delicious, well portioned and reasonably priced. A gem of a place that we will certainly return to again.
