best fish n chips shop in Auckland been a customer since the 1970's and still the same great food and service with friendly staff and management
I have regularly bought the most amazing smoked fish here. Most recently smoked hapuka. Their smoked salmon is amazing too. There is a regular stream of people coming for fish and chips so they must be pretty good too.
Awesome service and the best fish around.
Recommend to anyone in the area.
They also do fantastic lunches and the fish is always fresh. Will be back!
Very very good. I've been coming here for years and it's safe to say they are EXPERTS in smoking Seafood... tremendous!! And you dont have the fishy smell like you do when you go to other sea food shops .
The very best fish and chips I have ever eaten, and it isn't even close. Their standard fish fillets are delicious, but they will fry any fresh fish they have in the case and let you pick the pieces you want. It's also a fish market of sorts, but the finished product is why you come. I love the cross-section of people you meet there as well, both GI tangata whenua and visitors from the more affluent adjacent suburbs. Everyone knows Marsic's; it's an institution, rightfully feared and respected by the competition and beloved of its many devotees. So glad friends clued us in when we moved to town.
Let me repeat myself: the best fish and chips I have ever had.
The best fish & chips and fresh fish in all of Auckland! Marsic's are an Auckland institution, with everyone knowing them and their fantastic reputation for fresh and delicious fish. You can't go past their in-house smoked salmon, it is incomparable to any other around, and their fish and chips are always fresh and delicious. Once you start going here it'll ruin all other fish & chips shops for you! Family run and owned, the staff are always so friendly and helpful. The best fish shop around!
Wow wow wow! This has to be THE BEST FISH&CHIPS I have ever had! I got the $5.50 pack which included 1 fish, 1 sausage and chips. The chips were crispy and had a handcut look to them. The fish was delicious. Clean tasting and really fresh! Sausage was good too. The batter was not to thick and I really appreciated the fact that the meal was not overly salted. Another great thing to point out is that when you walk in you get a great sense of community. These guys really seem know their customers and are really friendly and welcoming. They've created a great atmosphere. Meal left me feeling full and satisfied. When I normally eat Fish&Chips i usually cant finish it and feel sick with all the grease. This place was simple and clean. They are really good at what they do and really know what they're doing. I will absolutely be back!
Amazing fresh fish. Ever since we tried their fish we stopped buying it from anywhere else. Great smoked salmon and snapper. Very busy fish shop in Glen Innes with many regulars.
Marsic Bros
Dare I say the best Fish and Chip store in the Mt Wellington and possibly Auckland?
Located in Mayfair Square, Glen Innes. A family run establishment with seasoned veterans in the Kitchen, Marsic is a part of a dying breed of traditional Fish and Chip stores, where you can buy fresh seafood, smoked salmon and also fish and chips.
As a first-time visitor to the store, a few things stood out to me. A constant stream of customers, many would probably be regulars as they were greeted by the staff by name and a very clean feeling towards the store.
A range of different other extra condiments to order along with your classic Fish and Chips, I decided to get a batch of fried mussels.
In total I ordered 3 Fish, 2 Potato Fritters, $2 Fries and 5 Fried Mussels. I’ll admit I’m not a seasoned and cultured Fish and Chip consumer, my basic criteria for a good batch of Fish and Chips revolves solely around two factors; portion and value.
It was surprising therefore that I released how amazing the taste was, crispy crunch, fresh flavor made for absolutely delightful meal.
Me and partner absolutely adored the Fried Mussels and the fish wasn’t flimsy like other takeaway places.
In essence Marisc Bro’s is my go to Fish and Chip store and it should be yours too.
Showstopper: Fritters, Mussel and Fish! Authentic Fish and Chips done correctly
Overall Grade: A
Takeaway ⏰
The fish burger and egg is just so yummy. I really love it. The friend mussel and fish are just delicious. My least favorite is the fries simply because I prefer it less salty 🙈🙊
Definitely go back for the yummy n cheap burger again.
Love this place! Great food every time. No longer work out G.I way but find myself wanting to go there often, which to me is a great indication for my love of this place as I don't live close. GIGANTIC SCALLOPS, and very well priced.
Highly recommend!!
I haven't had fish&chips for like a year or two so I had high expectations. I was really pleased with their food! The service was slightly slow but the food made up for it. I got $2.50 fish and $2.50 chips (1 of each) and it came out in around 10 minutes. The food wasn't oily at all. It didn't come out dripping in oil plus there was a decent amount of chips as well. The portions are pretty good and the staff are efficient. I heard that they also cook the fish they sell here too so you can also request for that. Delicious freshly cooked fish and chips. For $4.50, you can get fish&chips enough for 2 people. Would love to come back in the future.
I've had fish and chips from this place a couple of times and I must say its one of the best I've had in NZ! The fish is fresh as well as the potatoes and they're not drenched in oil!Haven't tried the other items on the menu yet as I've only ever been interested in their fresh fish!
Great Hapuka Fish and Chips today during my annual **Pt England Wonder** - Marsic's was and still is my favourite Fish place - BEST be Onward Together with Elohim - Jim
Best fish and chips I've had in Auckland! The fish is caught fresh daily so if you don't get in early you sometimes miss out! The chips are fresh not frozen, hard to find these days. If I'm going to treat myself to fish and chips this is the only place I would go!
Best fish and chips in Auckland! Fresh fish and REAL chips, not frozen!
There are different ranges of fish you can choose, raw or cooked. The fish & chips portion is not very big, but really good to try and have it if you feel hungry.
The best fish mongers in Auckland. The fish and chips here are top quality every time. People travel from all over Auckland to Glen Innes for the takeaways and the fresh fish. Service is top notch too.
These guys are awesome!
The team at Marsic Brothers do a fantastic job of processing fresh caught fish when you don't have time to do it yourdelf, and produce the best smoked fish I've ever had.
I regularly drop off some fish caught over the weekend for smoking and collect on a wednesday, freshly smoked and chilled - ready to eat.
My team at work are always happy ehen I'm off to pick up the smoked kingfish in time for lunch.
Reasonably priced service, fast and they make a point of remembering your name for great personalised customer service.
The guys out the back do a fantastic job of filleting your catch and not only dispose of the scraps for you, but will even clean out your chilly bin to save you the hassle later.
I highly recommend Marsic Brothers to all fisho's looking for high quality smoking and processing service.
I believe it's the best fish and chips in Auckland - despite its humble Glen Innes location! The fish tends to be smaller than your average place, but it's amazing quality and the thin/twice fried batter means you don't get a mouth full of grease (it's even good eaten cold - crazy i know!). The only limiting factor is the early 6:30pm closing time. Try it and you'll understand.
marsic fish n chips yummy since I can ever remember, would go there as a child with family. Now I take my family. I want some now. In fact I am going to call and see if they are open
Marsics (brothers and Sanka) have maintained a high degree of excellence since I first bought a feed there in the early 1970s. The only slight disappointment to me, is the lack of smoked eel. They used to have it regularly but it became rare.
However, making up for that, was their recent introduction of Mosquito-Balls,(Patagonian) presented in many forms: smoked, marinated, Rarotongan-style, etc. Also, ask Ivan to do his "Dance of the Twin Flounders". He isn't as agile as before but can still manage that one OK. I believe this traditional dancing is a wonderful addition to the ambience of this establishment. Well done, Marsics!
Well done Marsic Brothers who (Most deservedly !) Won the "People's Choice" competition amongst all the other shops in their shopping center. Their certificate proudly displayed where it belongs.... next to their "A" Rating Hygiene Certificate. Great food, great service, great value. I think I will go back there now for my lunch & maybe grab some fresh fish for my dinner also :-)
Best fish and chips I have had in a very long time. Can't believe I didn't know about these guys sooner.
Has to be the best in New Zealand. Hand cut, not frozen homemade chips. Had to stand in a que the other night as they were so busy. Fish is fresh and the best I have ever tasted.
I have also tried the scallops, they were massive and juicy.
I stopped by to grab something for lunch since I was in the area. They do sell fish as well, both fresh and smoked. The fish shop is what you see from the street but once you head in you can see the takeaway counter. The menu is right on the wall and hard to miss. It is a fairly basic menu with mostly fried items. You are also able to get something from the window cooked there. I ended up going for the fish burger with egg. The burger bun was toasted and the fish was really nicely cooked. Great crispy batter with tender fish. It was very easy to eat even though it was hot. The fish n chips here is probably really good based off the fish in the burger.
Best cleanest shop in tamaki makaurau fish is always cooked to perfection underdone the only way to eat it i never go anywhere else for a amazing feed thanks Daniel your the best, been using your shop since 1976 when my family came here from Rotorua.
Cool spot recommended by friends, and they did not disappoint.
Great customer service also and the Maori bro in there adds to this Cool experience.
Thankyou
This is a really great Fish Shop. I used to go the fish market in the city to get fresh fish. Marsic seems even better to me. Always really fresh fish. Great service. They also cook fish and chips. this service always seems very busy.
Haven't been here for over 15 years & they still never disappoint me, delicious hapuka & reasonable amount of chips.
Our number 1 stop for our hit of greesies when we come to town
Our absolute go too! The BEST fresh seafood & fish & chips ever! Even better is the cleanliness of this place, they've been around forever but you would never think as they maintain their store incredibly well. We highly, highly recommend.
I often visit this place when I over that way, and sometimes I make special trips, being a fishergirl myself I love fresh fish, and these guys are hard to beat. I cant always go fishing unfortunately, some of us just gotta work. I usually always choose my fish, fresh, smoked etc and I always get them to cook me a piece of Hapuka or bluenose or something that is in season. The fish and chips shop is the best ever in NZ, especially when you cannot get out fishing yourself.
Best Fish & Chips in Auckland. Must have when we're out East.
No pix - demolished without them.
