This is a great place and amazing food. It has one of the best baos in town. Fresh and delicious. Staff and ambience are cool too.
First time going. Service was spot on. Did order the popcorn chicken but never came. Was ok though as we had ordered plenty. The bao buns were delicious. Would definitely go back again for one of those.
I loved the look of Love Exposure & always wanted to go. We got the Vietnamese salad, it was good but not anything amazing, the vegan dumplings were amazing & the beef bao was good too, also got the tofu bao and the crust around the tofu was too hard and had a horrible burnt taste. Quite disappointed by that as it was my first Bao Bun.
Large generous portions, though the squid rings I found strange with the coconut coating. Some of the best bao, but chicken slightly overcooked
Love Exposure is situated on the corner of Dominion and Onslow road, the city end.
Doors open@ 1700 til late and there’s no missing this vibrant gem. The fit out is as delicious as the food, featuring an electric colour scheme of purple pink and teal hues, it’s a foodtastic wonderland!
Take a moment and imagine Austin Powers meets Shanghai Noon... it really does scream out,”Hey Baby you feeling groovy!”🕺🏽💕 above are beautiful over sized Chinese Dragons guarding you from the ceiling above.
So to my surprise I found out that Love Exposure is From the brilliant minds behind Kiss Kiss and Happy Boy, serving up some of the best Vietnamese food in town.
The drool-worthy menu features traditional Vietnamese classics done right, from banh mi to wicked bao buns, OML (oh my life) tofu dishes, vege dishes also amazing... I promise you one taste and i guarantee you’ll be hooked!
Bursting with delicious flavours this is truly a orgasmic culinary explosion in your mouth.
The Staff and Service is great, always on hand to take drink orders and give advice on what’s great.
The beverage drinks menu is playful & vibrant a nice selection to choose from.
The only negative is that the Rest Rooms is next door... so you have to walk out of the Venue to get to it... sucks if it’s a rainy day... oh yeah it’s raining lol 🤣😂🤣 beside this fact it doesn’t damper the dining experience.
Summary:
Great Venue for small or large Groups as they cater for all sizes.
Great for kids, family, celebrations or a last minute decision to dine out.
Great for sharing as they have a wide variety of small large dishes.
Ask on arrival for Happy Hour times as they have specific beverages on discount.
Bill payment options: can pay individually for large groups YES!!!
Parking: limited spaces outside venue and off street parking ample check out signs and times.
Casual fun Affordable dining at best.
4/5
Thank you for your friendly service. It was a nice and relaxed place to come for a midweek dinner date. Cool atmosphere and delicious eats. The spicy fried tofu was my favourite!
It’s hard finding somewhere reasonably priced with generous portions. Love Exposure definitely delivered on both. The food & service were both amazing.
Absolutely awesome place, great service, knowledgeable staff, and absolutely fantastic food. Food was delivered quickly after order and the quality of everything was very nice 👍🏼
Highly recommended!!!!!😊
We went last weekend love exposure Mt Eden I love this place my friend recommended this restaurant thanks mi8 very yummy food and so colourful decorations definitely recommend this place visit once....!!!!! Thanks
Last week went there with some friends. Excellent service and food. Lots of vegan options available. Cozy atmosphere in a hidden gem. Recommend 😄😄
I came here to meet a friend for dinner, we are both vegan, and wow - the options! We ordered four vegan baos, salad and deep fried tofu. The photos speak for themselves, I think - gorgeous, delicious food. I will leave the atmosphere of the restaurant itself as a surprise. P.s. We were so sure the jellyfish were real!
Amazing and tasty food. We ordered beef guo bao, fries, ribs, edamame, chicken nibbles, sago pudding and everything was delicious. The drinks were lovely as well.Love the colourful fun decor, the jellyfish with the pineapples is the top😁
Loved the quirky decor! Fast, efficient and friendly service.
We had the coconut dusted squid, definitely try this. It wasnt a heavy deepfried dish, big cuts of squid, and a decent portion size. 😍
The Bao buns, both pork and beef were cooked to perfection. Just enough sauce amd filling, just delicious. 😍
The vietnamese salad was fresh and tasty. The mint just made it for me. Something light to add to our table to accompany all the other meat dishes.
And of course we had the ribs. Sadly, for us, these were quite dry. Def precooked and then maybe re heated in the oven, so sadly thats dropped a star for this review. The marinade was yummy though, and a decent portion size too. Just a real shame they really were quite dry is all. ☹
As mentioned above, the staff were lovely, and the meals came out within 15 minutes of us being seated.
Tidy and clean. Definitely get here to try the Bao buns!
Food 5/5
Service 4/5
Ambiance 5/5
I have to say the food was really good!
Stand out for me was the Tofu and Eggplant dish which was coated in a sweet and tangy sauce with chopped peanuts. The Eggplant was insanely crispy and that being coated in the sauce was spot on 🙆🏻♀️
Every dish had a yummy sauce and portion sizes were generous for the price.
Service was good and the lady who served us etc was attentive.
So much better than the time I went before, I’m definitely coming back again for sure.
We got totally fried at Love Exposure.
It may be a miserable grey day outside, but it’s like a neon explosion inside. We’ve finally digested Burger Wisconsin’s dense buns and are keen to eat some quality fried chicken. And if you’re a sucker for a bargain, @loveexposureeatery are exposing value for money at its very finest by slinging Baos for only $6 each at the moment. Shit the bed!
-
The “sides” are massive and more like mains. The chicken nibbles are so tender and the crispy shallots are like shards of crispy chicken skin sprinkled on top. The steamed buns are fat pillows overflowing with crispy chicken, salad and a slathering of sriracha mayo. The last time we spent $6 this wisely was the Primary School tuck shop in the 90’s.
-
It’s no secrets a good sauce can save even the shittest burger - except Burger Wisconsin’s chicken burger, those burgers are lost forever. We’d drink Love Exposure’s yum yum sauce like water if they sold it by the bottle. Give your popcorn chicken a generous sauce bath before devouring.
-
Love Exposure and their sister restaurants @kisskisseatery and @happyboyeatery are running promos all over @groupon at the moment so no excuses really. If the fried chicken is the standard, the rest of the menu will be fire also.
-
Overall: 5/5 - can’t fault it.
-
What we had:
Fried Chicken Steamed Bun
Popcorn Chicken with Yum Yum
Sriracha Chicken Nibbles
$42 ($22 with Groupon Voucher) - bargain!
The crispy chicken bao is hands down the best chicken bao I have eaten! So crispy and succulent with the best sauce! Also tried the pork and beef baos which were absolutely lovely and the cocktails paired really well.
Slight let down was the fried tofu and eggplant - the tofu itself was very dry and overall the dish just lacked a depth of flavour.
Awesome service and ambience! A great place to visit for a quirky vibe + awesome baos which are value for money
Super sad to see them gone on #zomatogold and they no longer do vermicelli salads, phos and bahn mi :( 2019 they welcomes a new menu that is bao based much like Happy Boy but not in a burger form. My favourite tofu bao is there which I'm happy about.
•
Tofu bao - (8.5/10) -
Yummy, love how creative they got in covering the tofu with a sesame crust and lots of fillings. However it's not as juicy as the one from Happy Boy.
•
Deep fried tofu and eggplant - (9/10) -
The tofu and eggplant was cooked well, saucy and succulent with a spicy kick. Wish I had this with rice though as it was too salty (the inner Chinese speaking)
•
Vietnamese salad - (8.5/10) -
This salad reminds me of something I had in Japan with all the cabbage and vinaigrette dressing. It's very refreshing but on the sour side.
•
Coconut crusted squid rings - (9/10) -
I loved this, it's something new I have tried. The shredded coconut adds texture to the batter and that creamy nutty fragrance.
•
This is my third time here and the first since the recent menu change. Very flavoursome food! Great service. A drinks menu for every mood and occasion. And two very decadent desserts! Even the deep fried squid, something you'd expect to be on the plain side, had that little extra twist (coconut in this case). Still cannot decide if the pandan dessert or sago was my favourite. Will have to go back and try again.......
After a weekend of excessive bao consumption I can say that the chicken bao here was my fave . I had happy boy and kiss kiss’s but the peanut sauce in his one was ze best. Cool set up and dj on sundays too
The staff were very attentive from the minute you walk through the door. The place has a great vibe. Prawns are amazing as is the tofu. I was inspired after drinking the pina colada to make them for friends. Reasonably priced.
Un-friggen-believable food. Best viet food I have ever had. The Bun is on a whole new level. The interior is really cool too. Would highly recommend
This place takes yummy to the next level. If you're a fan of kiss kiss this place is owned by the same people and is the vietnamese food inspired version. We both got iced coffees for drinks which were ridiculously good. We shared a plate of fried tofu and aubergine and then I had tofu noodle salad (with the vegan sauce instead of fish sauce) and gf got the beef pho. Everything was really tasty, the deep fried tofu was definitely the best tofu I've had in Auckland. The pho had a real chilli hit and great depth of flavour. The price point is very competitive and the service was excellent and friendly. It's a hard call to make but I think we actually liked this place more than kiss kiss - which is a huge compliment.
Young and energetic staff greeted us and took our order. We had pork banh mi and lemon grass vermicelli salad.
Both dishes are flavourful and portion size was decent. We went there using a groupon voucher and it's well worth the $20 for both dishes.
Would definitely go back again to try other dishes!
Seated immediately even though it was busy busy at 7pm Saturday night. Once we ordered, there was hardly any waiting until we had our 3 dishes.
Deep fried prawns were delicious. Great crunch.
Pork meatballs ...amazing flavour and sauce.
And the crispy chicken vermicelli salad was perfect.
I love this place! the food here was tasty af. The fried tofu and chicken nibbles was rich in flavour and the spring roll was light as well as healthy. A good combination of great food, good service and cool looking place.
Food- 9/10
Service- 8.5/10
Aesthetics- 9.5/10
Went for a late lunch Saturday around 2.30pm. The restaurant was obviously very empty, so service and food wait time was extremely quick.
Between two of us we shared the pork belly lettuce cups, prawns with green rice and the tofu and eggplant shared dishes. All came out super quickly, and were amazing!
The dishes were large in size and 3 dishes between 2 were more than substantial for us. The highlight was the tofu and eggplant which was in a spicy tangy sauce and cooked super well, very flavoursome. The pork belly was good, slightly chewy but the sauce that accompanied it was really tasty as well. The prawns 🍤 were good too, Nothing I found too special but were a safe choice.
Probably not the best place to take a vegetarian friend, as most of the choices were meat related dishes. Otherwise really good food done well and quickly.
Great lunch here. Really enjoyed both the beef and chicken pho. Pork belly was delicious - our favourite! Pork spring rolls were tasty and the fried rice was okay, but amazing when eaten with a beautiful satay sauce. Friendly, quick service. Three and a half year old was fascinated by the jelly fish tank. Cool decor!
After hearing great things about this new spot, I was excited to try it out! Happy to report, I was not disappointed. Nice location in Mt Eden with easy parking. The food is your classic Vietnamese dishes, all super fresh and full of flavour, really decent portion sizes too. The ambience was great with a "street" kind of vibe and lots of little quirky bits and bobs around. I would recommend for a quick lunch or a cheap and cheerful dinner, I'll be back to try the Bahn Mi!
The decor to this place is vibrant and contemporary. They have a fish tank full of jellyfish! I ordered a vermicelli lemongrass chicken salad which was sooo good. The chicken was so crispy I loved it. I could enjoy it on its own. The coconut shake was refreshing. I’m planning on returning to try the other items on the menu but the portion for the salad was decent, very filling. 💯
Came in over the weekend and had a wonderful meal, everything was fresh and delicious with lots of herbs. The saigo pudding is awesome. Also the staff and atmosphere were on point
Excellent. Great food, great vibe, great price. Will definately be back to try the rest of the menu. We had the pork banh mi and beef pho. Both were great.
I loved Love Exposure. Just a warning that it gets really busy! I went on a Friday night and shared a few plates. Stand out for me was the chicken nibbles 😍 the service was good, the decor is quirky, there was a long line to pay at the end - I think they'll need to come up with a better system for that as it was packed. Can't wait to go back!
We arrived early for dinner, around 6.30pm, after reading the reviews where it was mentioned that there is often a wait. We only waited 5 or 10 minutes. Quite a lot of people arrived not long after us and had to wait quite a bit longer. Decor is fun, but it’s quite noisy. Not the place to come for a relaxed conversation. The crispy fried prawns were the highlight of our meal. The deep fried tofu was well cooked with a nice texture, but the sauce was a bit overpowering, which spoiled the dish a little. Overall a nice experience. I would come back to try the other dishes.
Great environment! Waiters come all the time to the table, which can be a bit annoying. The food was good. We had the chicken and beef pho. Both lack some flavour. The pork spring rolls are just superb. Dessert was awesome too.
Went to try, as love Kiss Kiss.
very quick with drinks service, and good with meals too.
Had the Vermicelli lemon grass chicken, the chicken Pho , deep fried spring rolls and the tofu.
All was good, the Pho was nice, but lacking a bit in flavour and not a lot of chicken. Vermicelli was a shredded mixed up plate, normally prefer it as separate ingredients, but good though, tofu was real good, and my favourite of the night. spring rolls good although we thought we had ordered pork ones, maybe out mistake but was vegetable version.
all in all was nice food, would go back and try other things again.
The food was amazing. We had the pho soup, dumplings, chicken bao, beef bao, and pork belly bao & popcorn chicken to share between two of us. You get one bao bun. Pork belly was the yummiest but they were all great. Popcorn chicken had a yummy sauce. Would definitely recommend. Atmosphere was really cool as well.
I really liked the atmosphere of this place and the food was pretty good on top of that. Managed to get a decent number of dishes between two of us and enjoyed them all thoroughly.
Lovely stuff, came with a couple mates, food was great, good portions to share for sides with one bao each. I am a vegetarian, the Tofu dishes were really good. Atmosphere was nice, staff also very friendly. Manager Jason at the time was attentive and took care of our needs! 10/10
Amazing atmosphere and customer service, the tofu and the bao bun were amazing but the chicken and chips were average, I think the oil in the fryer needed to be changed because the chips looked very yellow and the chicken was a bit dry
Other than that it was an awesome experience!
This place is awesome if you’re keen to share some plates with a big group in a fun atmosphere.
The plastic chairs and tablecloth, paper dragon and bright colours just add to the experience.
Everything we had was delicious and so full of flavour, the ribs and chicken were my favourites though.
Someone in the reviews said they didn’t like “2016 pop” playlist but I was so there for it - it’s called character!
I would say skip the cocktail bucket though because it didn’t quite pack an alcohol punch (more of a sugar rush) so I felt there wasn’t value for money there. Maybe a spirit or two added to the recipe might be an idea?
Lovely service, can’t wait to go back.
YOU NEED TO TRY THIS PLACE… best tofu bao bun & fries I’ve ever had!!
The service was fast, staff were lovely, the restaurant is real funky, there’s parking, great price. Went there on a Monday night & we had a great time. Thank you!!
Best food especially short ribs & popcorn chic and buns pork belly
My partner and I had a wonderful experience at love exposure.
The atmosphere was unique and our waiter was lovely!
Food and drink were well priced with healthy portions for what you pay.
I can recommend the cocktail bucket if you want something refreshing and worth it!
We got the dumplings to share, great sauce and textures but flavour could have been more prominent.
If your in the area and want to try somewhere unique then Love Exposure is the place to go.
Great little place, service was awesome and food was top notch. Cocktail bucket packs a punch too...
Lovely food and cocktails!!!
Jess and Jessie were so kind and friendly!
Definitely recommend for a date night or even a catch-up with friends! I’m so fricken full but like a satisfied full LMAO
Love Exposure was a must try restaurant for me as I have tried Kiss Kiss, Happy Boy and Chinoiserie. Their service was great and the continued neon dimmed mood lighting continued in the theme of this Vietnamese fusion restaurant.
We tried the lemongrass Bahn mi, salt & pepper squid, Vietnamese spring rolls, satay chicken, bun cha along with some coconut mock tails. Some of the dishes were hits like the Bahn mi, satay chicken and bun cha, however some weren’t. Our beverages were exquisite, creamy and refreshing!
For dessert we tried the lavender tapioca pudding and mango coconut dessert and these were disappointing.
Overall, dinner was delicious and next time awareness of what to not order will resonate.
Enjoyed my first time here so much with my friends that I went back with my partner, who also loved it. The food is just soooo good and they do Bottomless tea. I was hesitant to buy the tea as it was green tea, which isn't my fave, but the waiter let me try it first before I ordered it. For bar snacks, drinks, mains and dessert it cost about $80. Super cheap!!
The decor and lighting puts you in a cost vibe. And you couldn't help but look around and appreciate the work they put into all the little details.
High chairs and bathrooms are available. Parking right outside and they do great Happy Hour specials for drinks AND food.
Until I see you again.
Honestly the manager and working staff took such great and personal care of myself and my friend. It was a wonderful experience. 10/10 would reccomend. Food was great, ice coffee is bomb. Service is epic. Yum.
