I've been here a couple of times throughout the last few years and it's a solid staple spot so long as you know what you like from here. Some items can be bit of a hit and miss but if you find your dish then you're set.
Got the curry beef noodles on a cold Friday afternoon and although the broth is on the lighter end, it warms and nurtures you through the coldest of days. The spring rolls here are also pretty good.
Came here with my partner, since she got a coupon online for a 3 course meal.
We had the summer rolls and beef satay skewers for starters. For mains we had grilled pork on rice and the grilled pork on noodles. We also had a drink each which was traffic light and the grass jelly with coconut milk.
The portion size was quite large, but the taste was quite good also. Even without the coupons the price was quite fair for dinner with mains costing around $15 to $17 and starters around $6-8.
It was very comfortable to dine, ambiance was great. We will most likely be back again.

Came here a few days ago and using the voucher from Groupon. Food was delicious as always, service is really fast. Big portion as well. We got so full and happy. Really worth the money.

I went during a busy lunch time but the service was still really nice and quick. I got a Panfried Chicken with Lemongrass & Rice Noodle Soup with some wontons added into it. The dish was delicious and the panfried chicken is even more tasty with the hoisin sauce.
Been here for lunch and dinner, both very enjoyable , their lunch menu is very good value!

, it comes in almost double the size of other Korean restaurants! And the most important thing is it taste amazing! The perfect balance of spicy and sweet and the seafood flavour.... I want it now as I am writing this ...
However the pork belly dish we had wasnāt impressive, it was over cooked and there is no fat at all on that cut , so it was chewy and dry.
Service was great and most dishes we had was great , so we will be back!
Always a āYesā if someone asked me go there for lunch or dinner. Their rice and noodle selection both suit my appetite and I can have them every single day. The order sometimes take longer to serve during peak hour. But they often come out quite quickly. One day Hansan! Forever Hansan!
It was a cold rainy day, as soon as we walked in we were seated by the staff and soon after bought a hot pot of tea. Our food arrived very fast compared to how busy it was. The portion sizes were huge. Totally worth it ;)
First time trying Hansen and wow how has it taken me this long to try it out. Their portions are huge and the quality of food is not bad!

Prawn stir fry on rice 10/10
The prawn was cooked perfectly, flavourful and tender. I loved how they covered the prawns with pepper and onion sauce. It reminds me of Pepper Lunch from Sydney. An amazing comfort dish, definitely come back during cold seasons for this again.

Seafood rice noodles 6/10
This dish wasnt as good. The broth was average with not too much flavour, quite monotone. The fish balls were bland but the fish cake were flavourful.
Good food. Large portions. Service was fast especially on that Friday night that I made my visit here. Not disappointed but not that pleasantly surprised or impressed. I would recommend if youāre just keen to grab dinner.
I love here, it's the best pho i can bought in newmarket. I always order the raw beef pho, it's really deliciousļ¼ service is quite friendly and polite.

Had lunch here a week ago, and the food was amazing. Very fresh, tasty, and was served very quickly! Decently priced for the serving sizes, and something for everyone. Will definitely be back.
Been going to Hansan for 15+ years, back when it was in the weird hall venue in Mt Wellington. I get P10 (pork spare ribs on rice) with 2 fried eggs every time and it blows me away every time. Always reliable, one of my go-to's when I'm too lazy to make dinner.
We ordered the Beef with black pepper sauce on rice (B19) and pork spare ribs with rice noodles (P08) to share.
Size of the P08 noodle and soup in the New Market branch seems to be a bit smaller than the Panmure or city branch.
I enjoyed B19, has the yummy peppery taste that I wanted with pretty good portions of beef, with pickled vegetables on the side to add a sour flavour. But when I bit into the rice that had less sauce on it the rice was hard, almost as if it hasnt been cooked enough. I told the manager and they took the dish back to the kitchen and got the rice replaced to a new one that tasted like it was freshly made.
Entering the restraunt gave of a beautiful environment, especially dining next to the water fountain .

Great food, affordable and extremely quick service. Taste better then a lot of more expensive places. The curry chicken with rice is a solid recommendation. More home cooked feel then Selera in Newmarket.
I used to come here so often and I would literally only get 1 dish: P12 which is the pork spare ribs with prawns on rice which is such a well rounded meal overall. Itās got soup, pickled veggies, meat and seafood all in one (soup is only included if you eat there, not takeaway). I suspect the pickled vegetables and maybe the rice are pre-made days before because the meal usually comes out very quickly, however, I donāt really mind.
Have been here many times with different friends, service and food always consistently good. My only complaint is that the spring rolls seem to be a little bit overpriced, which is a shame because the main dishes are all priced very reasonably.
Been to most of the other branches around Auckland and this one is always consistant with their taste.
Ordering A01 (Deep fried vietnamese spring rolls) has almost become a ritual when I go as itās so tasty!
Sometimes the noodle soups arenāt hot enough, but thatās just my preference :p

This place is my go to for quick and easy Vietnamese food. They are incredibly fast and the food is tasty. The price has increased slightly recently, but the quality and portion size is good so its understandable. They also have an amazing coconut shake!
The best Hansan I have been to flavour wise. Was relatively busy which must mean itās good! We were provided tea in a grubby jug which tasted a little diluted so I ordered a bubble tea instead with out a straw woo! I ordered pork rice noodles which was really tasty, my partner also loved his meal. We love that this place hasnāt put their prices up like New Lynn has and they taste better so definitely a favourite now. Will be back!

Delicious and extremely quick! Great value for money. Pity I donāt live in Auckland! The bowls of pho at the tables nearby were MASSIVE!!! Iāve never seen anything like it.

Itās been 3 months since Iāve had Vietnamese food in. Although itās not as authentic as the food Iāve tried in Vietnam, I reckon the Phoās here are still pretty good in terms of taste. Due to power outage because of the storm in Auckland, the family decided to come here for a taste. Between 5 we got all the spring rolls from the appetizers, raw beef rice noodle soup, raw & cooked beef rice noodle soup, and beef balls rice noodle soup. As it was a very windy and cold night, these dishes really helped to warm us up.
Phos - the rice noodle soup were good in terms of taste and served very hot. The noodles were soft and the beef, together with the soup, tastes very warming and nice. The beef broth wasnāt too oily so you wonāt get too sick of it. The addition of bean sprouts gives a crunchy texture to the dish and the lemon adds some citric taste. You have the option to top it with seafood/oyster sauce on the table as well.
Spring rolls - the deep fried spring roll with lettuce was crunchy and hot. Although a bit hard to chew because of over frying on the outside, it still delivered the good taste of fried pork. The fresh spring rolls (pork and pork & shrimp) were my favorite because of the sweet and sour dipping sauce that came with it as it just adds the extra flavor on top.
The service was spot on and the waitresses were really nice. Although I know both waitresses, they treated other customers the same as well.
The price came to around $72 at the end which was reasonable as the size of the Phos really filled me up.

Always come here when I canāt decide where to go- youāve got a wide selection of noodles and rice dishes and the portions are very decent. Though they did increase their price to $15 for some dishes and there arenāt many vegetarian dishes available. Aside from that, service is very speedy and staff seems to know what theyāre doing. Overall great place if youāre hungry and looking for a good Vietnamese feed.
Standard flavour and taste when compared to Panmure branch. The staff was not personable but service was fast. Had the Barbecue Pork Skewered with vermicelli and Pearl Milk Tea. The pork was tasty and very tender.

Located at Nuffield St. Newmarket further end of the strip of the other cafes and restaurant. Ridiculously affordable price, good serving and great vibe from other customers. Staff is ok, a bit of language barrier. Unlimited tea and my fave chilli vinegar sauce to go with any meal. I ordered Chicken on rice and they were so delish.......menu is a wide selection of meal. Highly recommended for affordability and quality of food! Would definitely come back!!!
Our favourite local place to go for a family catch up. We always get the prawn & pork omelette pancake. The meal is so big itās big enough to share for 2-3 people. We also got the fried pork & rice noodle soup. Quite nice though family member did mention that there was a lot of soup and not as much noddles. Another favourite of mine that I always order is the banana sago. Service is quick even though itās quite busy whenever weāve visited. Overall yum!!

The food cane out really fast and the staff were really nice and friendly. I did feel that the food seemed rather bland and no flavour. I had the satay chicken lemon grass chicken and fried chicken. The won tons did taste amazing.
L8 lunch here today,haven't been to this branch before but have been a Hansan customer for many years from their early days in Panmure so knowledge of their food "in side out"...thou knew it has been open here for some time now,ordered the pork and vermicelli noodles ,fresh spring rolls and fried spring rolls,lychee shake...the noodle dish typical of what Hasan are well known for(nice)the fresh spring rolls ok but the fried spring rolls were very small in size and over price for what they worth ,otherwise a nice lunch here today

Love the ambience, it's a great place to meet up and have a chat with friends. Food is just average - portion sizes are less than other Hansan branches. Pho is mostly soup now. Prices have also gone up.
The atmosphere is is a lot cleaner and cosier than the other branches- especially with the glass waterfall. The food is always great and it comes within ten minutes of ordering. Staff are kind and friendly.
A great restaurant in Newmarket. I really like their atmosphere. It's really organised well with a glass waterfall. The customer service is good. Their food is tasty. They also provide chilly pickles which is really good to bring in the hot flavour.
The customer service here is good, food are great and the portion is ok. Price has just gone up by $2 for each meal on the menu. Will comeback here though.
This was my first time at Hansan in New Market and I can say I enjoyed my time here better than the Panmure branch! Mainly I prefer the modern ambience and it's a little cosier, staff looked relaxed and not stressed. The food is delicious as always, and great value for money. My go to is the Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli, but after reading good reviews I will try the beef one next time. I absolutely love the Coconut Shake, it's the perfect balance of creaminess and iciness.

When I saw the menu at first glance I had no idea what i wanted to order nothing seemed to tickle my fancy. I went with (what I thought) would be something basic but it blew me away! The lemongrass chicken and lemon grass beef on rice.
Both were so full of flavour and service was fast. If you aren't sure about the menu these are going to be my new go to āŗļø
Generous Porton sizes, delicious food, I have great pork omelette with enough for takeaway's for lunch. Free oolong tea on each table, Which was keep warm in a vacuum pouring flask
Hansan is a well decorated Vietnamese restaurant. It is one of my favourite Asian restaurants in Auckland. The food is not expensive. Alcoholic drinks are also available here.
would recommend the lemongrass pork with rice and the chicken curry with Ā rice. the soups are good too but nothing like the real "pho" that you get in Vietnam
Cheap and cheerful! I eat here reasonably frequently and the food is consistently good, and fast! Service is average but what do you expect for $10 a dish!
This place is always a cheap and cheerful go to for me. Can never fault your choices for food options here. Always delicious and quick to deliver as well! Usually get the bun vermicelli and it's always a winner!
For a chain restaurant, they serve pretty good food! They're another one of Auckland's great cheap eats. I can't comment for their other outlets, but I've heard this is one of their best.
They serve large meal portions that are typically too big to finish, so make sure you bring a reusable container so you can take away the rest to have for lunch the next day.
I quite enjoy their Pan Fried Pork with Lemon Grass on Rice; my partner loves their soups.
Great value - but don't go here for service. The waiting staff are not very personable and they kind of throw the dishes at you when they bring them out...
Always loved this place! Family favourite for years... highly recommend the lemon grass pork on vermicelli and you definitely can't dine here unless you order the fried spring rolls! Wrap them in lettuce, dip it in sauce, and enjoy! They're the best!!!

I don't know what authentic Vietnamese food is supposed to taste like, but Hansan's food is quite tasty. My favourite is the lemongrass chicken with noodles, and their deep fried wonton (although that's kinda oily). If you're just after a decent meal, you can't really go wrong here.
Attended here with my partner and her mum for a casual Wednesday night dinner. We ordered the fried wonton entree, shrimp salad, pork and prawn pancake and lemon grass steak. We found the meal to be very enjoyable and tasted great. We also ordered a beer and 2 glasses of wine and were pleasantly surprised at the bill only being $72. Seevice was good and the waitstaff were friendly, the restaurant was also nice and clean.
Have only been here around three times and always get their lemon grass and rice noodles!! They are really filling and I came here for my friends birthday! Their pearl milk tea was rather expensive but it was nice to see it was filled to the max and I spilt it a bit. There is a lot of tables and was pretty empty on Friday evening! Nice restaurant!!!!

It had been a while since I'd been to Hansan, but I must say it has improved greatly since my last visit. Better service, fresher food & cleaner restaurant. So great to see as it had been a fave spot, but had hit a bad patch which it has obviously passed by now.
Tonight we had the crispy Spring rolls which are always a fave & the chicken satay skewers. Also the mixed platter & lemongrass chicken with vermicelli. Their lemongrass chicken or pork are some of the best I've tried.
Looking forward to coming back again.
Big seating space, large menu and decent service. I think their soups and drinks are the best. Portions can be big, but taste is good. Fools is authentic but not very great in quality. Could do so much better with decor and cleanliness. But over all I like this place.

Good local Vietnamese. Lemongrass chicken on rice /pancake are our favourites. Moneybags are a little over done and very greasy. Preferred tea in older style teapots and not the jugs š³
Really delicious food, had the stir fry chicken with vermicelli noodles, big portions, and just really tasty. Nice added extra is the lovely free pot of Jasmine Green Tea. Will definitely eat here again.

I've been coming here for ages and I always have the lemongrass chicken with vermicelli noodles. So tasty with their special Vietnamese sauce drizzled over the chicken and noodles. It's also extremely healthy with freshly grated lettuce, carrots and cucumber. Good source of protein, vegetables and carbs. My friend always has their soup noodles with pork ribs. .her fav so must be good too! Prices are do decent that it won't break your wallet.
Place is nothing fancy just good food. However it's located in the heart of Newmarket hidden right the end of Nuffield street. Good place to come after your shopping. Always packed for lunch and dinner.
Every time I come here I have a gratifying experience. Good vietnamese food is somewhat difficult to come by in Auckland and Hansan has yet to disappoint. Staff know the menu well and can offer recommendations, the complementary tea is also a nice touch. Food portions are exceptional, great prices for the amount of food put in a bowl. Everything taste real fresh too. Try C13, the pan fried chicken with lemon grass on vermicelli or C06 curry chicken with rice.

I came here for lunch with my friend today, the staff were really friendly. It took a while for them to take our order, but it was understandable as they were really busy. The food was really good, I thought I had a soup but it was actually a sauce for the my noodles and I only realised when I tried the "soup" what it was for. As soon as I added it to my noodles it took the dish from being average to really good! I'll definitely be coming back soon as it was a very enjoyable experience.
Quick service, nice-ish staff, however the best part of our dinner was the air conditioning blasting in the restaurant.
The meat in both dishes were flavoursome lightly combined with cucumber, pickled carrots and bean sprouts .
We both enjoyed our light summer meal but the drink (forgot to take a photo) was very disappointing .
The Traffic Light drink delivered to us did not resemble the one in the picture of the menu. It was lacking red and yellow bean filling, the ice was not shaven enough to be eating a whole cup of. We asked the manager to add more of the fillings that were lacking but what he returned with was less than impressive.
Won't be ordering any drinks there from now on.

Came here for a late lunch around 3pm, it was very empty. We were seated immediately and we're given menus to order from as well as given green tea to drink. We had the chicken satay skewers which were very tasty and the peanut sauce was divine. We also ordered the fried wonton as entree which melt in your mouth but needed a sauce to accompany it. For mains I had the chicken stir fry on vermecelli which was very healthy and had a good sauce to go with it. The chicken noodle soup was a slight let down as there was not much in it and lacked flavour. The cost of the meal overall was inexpensive and I would recommend to get something with more flavour like a stir fry with veges
The staff are really nice. I've been to three Hansan restaurants so far. One in Auckland CBD, Mt Wellington and now in Newmarket. They all have the same 'theme', or I'd rather say ambience and environment. It's very nice and 'Asiany'. They offer really good authentic Vietnamese dishes. The taste are sooo good and you get them quite fast and their food are still hot. Once you get there, they offer tea but they also offer water and iced tea or milk tea. I really love their pork ribs either on rice or noodles.
Always go here to get pho. Very tasty!
Portion is quite big and price is very reasonable. Place is clean and quick service. Don't sit close to door when it's cold weather but other than that, very good place to get cheap food ;)
Hidden away from the main strip in Newmarket, Hansans is popular for those who love Vietnamese. The decor is simple, the main feature is the large water wall at the front of the restaurant. Don't have too high expectations for the service as it generally quite minimal.Ā
They have a lot to offer on their menu, those familiar with Vietnamese food will find all the usual classics. If your after a light and refreshing meal I'd recommend the Pan fried chicken with lemongrass on vermicelli.

The service is fairly good, though the servers are not from Vietnam but from Mainland China. I don't know if the Chef is from Vietnam or China. But it's worth going to this restaurant, not very pricey.
Ambience: Very Spacious and ample space to walk and enjoy your meal while looking at the beautiful photos of Vietnam hanging on the wall.
I love Hansan for tasty, cheap, authentic Vietnamese food. Recently Vietnamese has become really popular in NZ and there's now so many more Vietnamese restaurants opening which is awesome. However Hansan will always be my favourite Vietnamese place for cheap good food!
I usually order the pork spare ribs with the vermicelli noodle salad OR in winter I'll have the egg noodle soup with lemon grass chicken. All meals are huge and tasty - extremely good value for $12 a meal.Ā
If you want to try something different I would highly recommend the grass jelly with coconut cream which is a desert drink! Its my favourite and I always have to get it when I'm here. The jackfruit shake is also AMAZING and was a childhood favourite growing up :)
Hansan is a great family friendly place tucked next to Faro in Newmarket's Nufield Street. As soon as you slide the glass doors open, you are greeted by a lush peace palm in front of a glass pane waterfall. We were quickly seated and promptly offered menus and green tea. Looking around the place, we observed a good mix of family groups, many with toddlers in tow. The friendly staff were obviously seasoned with dealing with enthusiastic screeching, hullabaloo, and the usual calamity that comes with the territory of extended family dining. The dishes are large enough to share since portions are quite generous. We ordered a mix of chicken curry, lemongrass chicken, a grilled pork combo, fried rice, grilled beef skewers, and spring rolls. We had plenty left to takeaway. Great place to feed a crowd.
Hansan is perfect for a cheap and filling meal. The portions are huge and you are definitely left ready to food coma. The Newmarket branch is pretty consistent in terms of service. The staff are pretty friendly and the food comes quickly!
My favourite dishes are the fried spring rolls, wonton rice noodle soup and the chicken rice noodle soup! I prefer the city branch over this one in terms of the decor though.
Hansan has been a place where my family have always gone to whenever we can't decide where to eat. I normally order the rice noodles but this time round I ordered the rice. It was amazing and they never fail to impress me. Great restaurant to dine at if you're looking for something cultural and Asian. :)
Hansan Newmarket is different compares to the other hansan as they seem to be much busier compared to the city outlet. I frequent at this restaurant as it is affordable and filling. Their egg noodle soups are great and their curry chicken is amazing. The staff can sometimes forget you are there and the service can get slow during peak hours but when not busy they are very attentive to you and very welcoming. The atmosphere is casual and the decor is great with the fountain as you walk in to the restaurant.
Very impressed with the efficient service. The food arrived at the table a lot sooner than I expected. A good variety of dishes avaliable, which made choosing difficult. Each of the dishes was very tasty, and very reasonably priced. Well worth going back to enjoy again.
I've dined here multiple times over the last couple of years. This branch in particular is probably my favourite out of all the branches (the other two are located in the city and Mt Wellington).
I like the waterfall feature they have at the restaurant - mount wellington upped their game after their renovation and have installed something similar.
The staff here are more friendly than other branches and their English is quite good which is nice for a change lol. The food always arrives promptly once the order has been placed and the food always tastes consistently good.

They're crazy fast with their noodle soups. So fast, that they came out before our entrees. Didn't bother me as it meant I got to have a breather from slurping soup n nibble on some wings. Yeah boi! Whilst it is not authentic Vietnamese food, it IS generous and it IS tasty.
HANSAN hits the hunger hard, and is sure to keep your wallet happy.
Hansan is an easy destination for a quick and easy meal. The place has a good amount of seating, with tidy decor.
It may not have the best Vietnamese food around (personally I love Vietnamese food that are full of fresh herbs which Hansan seems to lack) but it does quite a good selection of food pretty well. I would recommend the curry chicken with vermicelli, the pan fried lemongrass chicken or beef on rice or with rice noodles and the beef stew with tomato paste and rice noodles. The drinks are definitely worth a try, in particular the lychee shake and any of the dessert drinks with coconut cream. Finally the desserts - my goto would be the taro and sticky rice.
Hansan Newmarket is what seems like the more sophisticated of all the Hansan branches. Ā However, even though it is located on the super fashionable Nuffield Street the food is consistent with the other branches around Auckland. Ā Same menu, prices and service. Ā Always a reliable option for quick and filling Vietnamese food. It really is one of the best cheap eats around town.
Definitely prefer this restaurant over the Mt Wellington/ Panmure as the food tasted nicer. However because it was quite busy my friend and I felt a little rushed to order and eat. I had the lemon grass chicken and banana sago for dessert they were both very tasty and I would return.
I went to Hansan last weekend and ordered a fried shrimp with black pepper sauce on rice, I love the black pepper sauce, not very spicy, having some fried onions and bean sprouts in it, also served with some traditional Vietnamese corned cabbages and carrots.
Came here after jot trying vietmanese before so didnt know what to expect! Me and my partner ordered a variety of food and the portions were good size! We found the food abit bland and tasted all the same really! It was a busy friday night and we had called to book but still was waiting 10/15mins when we arrived. Not sure i would go back as didnt really enjoy the food that much.

Lemon grass chicken is my favourite - fairly good priced so if youre looking for a place to ear rice noodles this is the place!
CHEAP EATS - If you are a lover of quick, fresh & delicious vietnamese food - you've come to the right spot. My pics are fried spring rolls, summer rolls, the combination beef Pho, oh and lemon grass chicken rice noodle soup. Not impressed with the wonton soup - I cant tell what type of meat or ingredients are in the wontons, but Im not a fan. I heard there could be MSG in their food too, so I will ask next time we are there, since I hate that stuff. Anyways pressing on, the staff are nice & attentive. The decor is typical of what you might find a your local mall foodcourt. But hey, if the food is good who cares about the decor right? ITS A CHEAP NIGHT OUT!
This is a great go-to place for noodle soup. Love their "raw & cooked beef rice noodles soup" although this time was a disappointment cos there was not a single piece of raw beef in there. But the flavours are nice. And I love their coconut water too.

The decor is dated and akin to a food court, but the meals served at this Vietnamese gem are anything but bland! What I love about Hansan is that the meals are reliable, hearty and good value for money. The menu is big and they serve a range of exotic beverages including pearl drinks and lychee smoothies. This time around I had the lemongrass beef on rice and it went down well with the jasmine tea. I also like how the tables have an assortment of accompaniments and sauces (be brave with the chilli!). Hansan is great for a quick bite or for a pre and post movie meal. Oh how I wish there was a Hansan in my neighbourhood.
I come here for tasty cheap eats. Big fan of the coconut shake and the taro dessert (small, but good and very sweet so you dont need much.) Curries are good, ribs are yum and pretty much anything that ends in lemongrass. Some dishes are packed with onion, so just be prepared if you're not in to that
Great place, and great prices. Good place to go in those cold winter nights, especially with there wide variety of noodle soups. C13 is my personal favourite, with a sprinkle of chillie. It does get quite busy here. So there may be a wait, but it's all good.

Hansan is great! It's cheap and cheerful and always yum. I've visited a few times and will keep coming back! Loved the black pepper chicken last time :)
Hansan is a decent place for cheap eats and guarantees to be full (unless you eat more than normal people). Is a good place to hangout with friends, good, relaxing environment. I come here quite a few times every year when I want fast, good, cheap food. Service is fast and good. My favourite are the spring rolls, lots of fillings and dont break easy. I have tried spring rolls in many other restaurants, and they all either break easy or stingy about their ingredients.
We've been twice. The food is excellent. Well priced. Fast service and friendly staff.
Within 30 mins of us arriving, the restaurant was at capacity seating. Good food feedback spreads I guess.

I love this place and regularly eat in. Big portions and the meat is beautifully flavoured. Just wish they would add fresh herbs to their dish like you would find in Vietnam or at least serve them at the table! Otherwise its delicious every time
Great for the family or a casual dinner with friends. Delicious desserts and drinks! They're quite hard to find elsewhere. The food is so cheap and it's worth every cent. Portions are large and delicious and very generous. Flavour is lovely and service is perfect. The location is great and not to mention, this place is decorated very well and looks quite expensive :) I love it here!! For lunch or dinner... I'm a regular customer
Honestly, service is not their forte, as a number of other reviews have suggested. But the food is really great value for money; the noodle dishes are definitely the ones worth getting, and you get served pretty fast. It's definitely a go-to when I'm taking friends somewhere casual.
Great value for money, with fresh produce used. The food is very good with a great selection to choose from. The restaurant itself gets very busy so getting the waiters attention can be a challenge, though we were served as soon as we walked in. I also like how you are served green tea and you can get the pot topped up, brilliant for a colder winters night.

Don't even bother going if you plan to critique this place in terms of excellent service. It is OK but the star is the food. If it's pho noodle soup you are after, you have come to the right place.
The quintessential Restaurant, everything was just as you would want it to be and considering the prices represents all you could ask for, it is far superior to it's Mt Wellington parent and is in my opinion the best value in Newmarket. I have been several times both for lunch and dinner and have found the experience consistently good.
Very first time, we had expectations for hansan to match our fave vietnmese joint back home in Canada but soon realized, it's one of its own kind. Hansan always has that same level of quality. The meats are noticeably cooked perfectly with the best blend of flavors. You can't order something wrong on the menu. Everything I've ever ordered has been fantastic. We love knowing its just around the corner from us for a lazy night meal. Love this place!!!!!

Good environment as the setting in the restaurant was quite cosy. The service was very good and accommodating but the food was quite average though very generous with the portion size for mains. Can get a very filling meal for $9.50 and still have leftovers.
Went last night finally after wanting to go for a while. The food is fast and cheap. The place is clean and modern. Filled up fast. Some dishes seem better than others but I had the grilled lemongrass chicken and a soup of rice noodles - was filling, clean tasting and very enjoyable. Plus the place is BYO too. Would recommend.

Have been coming here for about four years now and I have never had a bad experience. Yes, the food may not be the best quality, but it is cheap and perfect for those nights when you don't feel like cooking. I also love that the menu has a wide variety of dishes, which makes it perfect for having something different each time.
A usual night at Hansan would include starting with the Shrimp & Pork Summer Rolls ($5.70) - they're fresh, tasty and they'll be gone in a second! For a main, I either order the Pan Fried Steak with Lemon Grass on Rice ($12.80), the Pan Fried Chicken with Lemon Grass Egg Noodles Soup ($12.80) or the Pan Fried Pork with Lemon Grass on Vermicelli (also $12.80) - all are absolutely delicious and very filling!
I think the service is great, although there are times when I have had to wave at a waiter to get us some more water etc. but having been there on many different nights, they do get very busy... even on a Tuesday! The food comes out relatively quick and you always leave feeling very satisfied, which is why I love coming back to Hansan!

First up, don't expect Hansan to be an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Once you get around the fact that you are not going to receive piles of herbs or flavourful soups, having a meal there can actually be quite pleasant.
For a cheap Asian eatery, the decor is surprisingly clean and modern, with a kitschy cascading flow of water by the sheet of glass near the front door. The many food options are in a fabric-covered menu. The service is efficient.
The food itself is inexpensive, light and refreshing, with accompanying fish sauce, lemon wedge, or fresh mung bean spouts depending on what you are ordering.
There are no vegetarian options on the menu (unless you count the desserts), but the chefs are happy to oblige on request, for instance cooking stir-fried vegies on rice (optionally with a fried egg or egg gravy). If you are less strict with your diet, they will also make a vegetable noodle soup (though you will get asked multiple times with this to confirm you are okay with meaty ingredients in the soup base).
Good value meals at a good location. If you don't compare with food you've eaten in Vietnam, they can hit the spot.

I went in here one evening with some colleagues to have a quick meal and opted for the wonton fine egg noodles, which were served with some complimentary spring rolls and a plate of bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were great, both crisp and fresh, but the spring rolls were disappointing. Usually I find Vietnamese cuisine restaurants do really well with spring rolls, but the skins were kind of hard and stale (think deep fried cardboard kind of texture, which wasn't so appealing) and the filling rather sparse so the meal was kind of off to a bad start. The wontons and noodles, however, made up for everything. Delicious and for just over $10 extremely filling, I was impressed with the noodles especially. The texture was great and the soup delicious enough for me to polish off at the end. The wontons themselves weren't much to write home about, and indeed the skins were a bit too thin or poorly wrapped because a significant number of the wontons had broken and spilled their contents into the soup. Still, they were delicious without any strange bitter taste even though it was a bit disheartening to see so few had remained whole (mainly the ones that were at the top of the bowl when it was served, hmmmm). A good under $20 cheap eat with friends in a restaurant with lots of roomy tables, but perhaps politely decline the spring rolls?
Paid NZ$22 for 1 pan fried chicken with lemongrass and rice noodles, and NZ$21 for 1 pan fried pork with lemongrass and egg noodles. The pork was soft, tender and flavourful, tasted just like Singapore pork satay. The chicken was soft and tender but not as tasty as the pork. The lemongrass was not cooked with the chicken but left on top. The egg noodles were springy. The soup was nicely flavoured, not overpowering like miso soup. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambience was relaxing with soft background music.
This place has been around for 10+ years. I haven't been back for such a long time but but quality essentially stays the same. It's always a solid quick meal with a Vietnamese inspired cuisine.
The Food is always tasty, come fast. Sometimes not easy to find parking on the street.
Almost empty when we arrived and then bam, in came the people. Loved it and next time in Auckland will be back. Do you do takeaways to Christchurch lol. Delicious food, lovely staff.

Old time favourite, cheap and cheerful, just donāt sit in front of the toilet area, the smell do travel, not a nice experience.
My favourite dish of all time is the hainanese chicken, big portion, actually a good enough sharing meal for two small ladies.
Their deep fried wonton was also good, crispy and taste just on the spot.
Their thin noodles was also a great meal, not too much noodle that a person cannot handle, just right size portion.
Iād also recommend their prawn wonton soup, another old time favourite dish.
It was my first time trying out Hansan Nuffield Street, since Iām a fan of their Panmure restaurant. The interior was lovely and stylish in comparison and I was excited to try a few things. In the end, I decided on Vietnamese Spring Rolls which were the beet Iāve ever had, Chicken Satay and Curry Chicken Vermicelli soup with a jackfruit smoothie.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dishes and was impressed by the service. My order was promptly taken and food delivered efficiently and it was a lovely dining experience.
The quantity of the food has definitely increased but this time the taste has changed, not sure why is my soup base changed the raw beef noodle soup base but not too bad overall. Lovely environment āŗļø
always get good value meal here, just $15 for the chicken rice and soup. the other one is around the price too. however the taste and portion was even better if u go to the city branch. anyway, it's a good cheapeat place to go.
Hansan, easily my favourite viet places. Nice and large(ish) serving size which I think is worth it for its price. I think their vermicelli options are the best. Soups are also good but I don't think packs as much flavour. Place was kept nice and clean
