Today I tried a salted caramel cream donut - without a doubt but the most delectable, decadent amazing donut I’ve ever had anywhere! I consider myself a cream donut aficionado and these guys do the best!
The food here is so fresh and delicious, one of the best bakeries around.
I visited from Australia. The food is delicious and the pies are the best. This bakery makes me want to make a trip back just for the food. Yum yum yum!

Worth very penny. If you want the best pie and pastries thats the place go.
Best bakery ive been to. Spend at least $30 even arriving 2pm when my favourite cabinet of food was wiped out if not i would have cleared it out. Friendly staff Best Food
Amazing!!! I had a cake made for my mother’s birthday and it was decorated perfectly, tasted amazing!!!!
Love the selection here, cakes are great too. Just getting served is a hassle if your there at lunchtime!
An amazing range of quality food. Good coffee too :)
Fabulous food! Thank you. Will visit again.
Absolute favourite bakery in Auckland. My usual is the cranberry chicken roll and a carrot cake cupcake. Their carrot cake is amazing! With big chunks of walnuts, pineapple and generous cream cheese icing, it’s one of my favourites for sure.
This place is an institution for a reason. Every time I drive past this place, there is a crowd and for food reason. The food is good. Real good.
Grabbed a pepper steak pie and satay chicken roll and honestly couldn't fault it. The pastry here is prob one of the better pie pastrys you can get in Auckland. Super flaky and buttery. The filling was also on point.
Great local bakery, so many options to try.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
This place is soooo good. The pork belly potato top pie was delicious. The Vietnamese bahn Mi was so delicious ! Custard donut and chicken Satay roll also do good! Everythinf was just yum!
Have been to bakers cottage a few times now so can finally review. This is one of the best bakeries in Auckland and I love coming here.
The standard pies are around $6.30 and specials $6.80 and they are definitely worth the money. The pies are packed with filling and flavour and the pastry is done really well. I’ve tried all the chicken pies and they are all really good - especially the special chicken mushroom and bacon potato top. In the morning there’s a lot of roll and sandwich options which usually run out by the end of the day.
The slices are very reasonably priced and sized as well (most around $3.50 for a slice) . I ordered a lemon cupcake last time which was nice but slightly dry. I’ve also bought last minute cakes from them which have been amazing and priced super well compared to other cakeries.
Delicious local to get a decent pie & cream donut. This pl has a massive selection of salads, rolls, sweet treats & more. Must check this pl out when In Kingsland 🔥
They have a good selection of salads and filled rolls as well as the usual bakery food such as pies, cakes and pastries. It’s a good option if you are wanting a cheap lunch for under $10. I get the vegetarian filled roll which comes with egg and Camembert and a variety of salad veges. It’s as good as a bakery filled roll gets.
This place is dangerous (ly good!) it has a huge array and variety of baked treats, breads, salads, sandwiches, rolls, cakes - you can take items away for lunch, etc or sit down - they have maybe about 15 tables? They make a good coffee too.
Bakers cottage sets the tone for how all bakeries should be.
One tiny downside, their prices are starting to get a little high. Other than that, 10/10
I have visited this outlet and have been enjoying there baked goods since the days when it was named Connors bakery.
Even tho a lot has changed over the years the cute lil owner Karen has done a great job in all aspects of the shop from the food that is available to the interior of the bakery. What is great is the bread has not changed. Still has the Connors bakery flavour. There is a wide range of foods from fresh salads, tasty filled rolls, a pie range that is better than the usual average bakery choices, deliciously fat filled donuts and a awesome range of beautifully decorated cakes.
Prices are slightly on the pricey side but everything is high quality and serving sizes a match prices.
Service from the staff is always friendly and helpful. This outlet can get super busy with lines regularly out the door but the wait is well worth it no matter what you purchase.

Best bakery in town! I’ve been coming here for years, have often travelled across Auckland to seek their bakery delights. Some of my favourites are their pies, sandwiches/rolls and donuts :D
If you're looking for a good old fashioned bakery serving up the traditional savoury and sweet pastries/cakes at a very reasonable price with great taste then look no further. This is not a fancy dessert place serving cakes that look like "art work", but certainly do the basics exceptionally well. Slices, doughnuts, cakes and pies still look great and taste even better. The sausage rolls are as good as any I've had anywhere else. The place is pretty unassuming, with old fashioned decor, but service is friendly and they have on site parking. We'll be back.
Food is yummy, reasonably priced, good variety of sweets and savory and staff there is always friendly. The place is abit old and tired, but acceptable for the price.
my partner and I love coming here for lunch, the spinach and feta muffins are great and the "chargrilled vege roll is really something spectacular" so says, my partner. Staff are lovely and helpful despite long queues. Cakes are well worth the price. Great affordable meals.
Huge selection and variety of all kinds of food and sweet desserts. They offer a few vegan salads and wraps however none of the sweet treats are vegan. They do offer vegan coffee though with almond or soy milk.
Value for money. Would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty rosemary ham sandwich. Coffee on point too! Love the food spread.
Went on a Saturday morning, was busy but service was great.
I work just round the corner from this place, and it always has a vegan salad that is filling and delicious. This is one of the few places I know that actually does an almond milk coffee right too. However, I have worked around the corner for 4 years and I always ask if they could get just one vegan sweet treat in (out of the 60+ they have on display). And they haven't. It's been 4 years! Anyway get a good vegan salad and complain about the lack of vegan sweet treats for ya pal Mary vegan Poppins.
Great homemade food, excellent coffee and fast service. Donuts sells out quickly so be sure to come in early - they are well worth the compromise. Great value for $$
One of the best bakeries in Auckland. They have such a massive range but I'm a huge fan of the Orzo pasta salad and the Feta and Spinach Muffins! Friendly staff and a clean, tidy place. Only downside to going here is the horrendous ordeal that is the parking situation! LOL
The best bakery in Auckland! It is always super difficult to choose what to get, the selection is amazing. My favourites are their chicken and aioli roll, pasta salads, and their cupcakes. Everything is of big size and always tastes fresh. No wonder this bakery is always busy. The highlight for me is actually their selection of cakes, they're all beautiful. I've come here a few times to get cakes for my birthday etc, and everyone is always amazed when I tell them its just from the bakery! I can't wait to try more of their sweet food!
An unpretentious cafe with a great selection of fresh food. This is one of our favourite spots on a lazy/rainy/slow weekend morning for a fulfilling breakfast/brunch/lunch.
The decor is not like the modern hip cafes but that's what we love. It's not filled with a sensory overload of chatter, music, glazed tiles and industrial looking light fittings.
The dilemma every time is the choice of what to eat as there is just so many! The portions are extremely generous and the prices are very reasonable. The staff always have a smile on and we never have to wait for long for our order.
This will keep being our go to whenever we feel like having a laid back weekend morning!
This place has been a favorite of mine for about 10 years now and it's awesome still.
Coffees are not bad too, I love the pizza bread, vegan salad and the chicken and aioli roll. But really everything is amazing. They have a crazy selection of sweet treats too. The most consistent bakery in Auckland I feel and good value too.
I love the food there. I forgot to take pictures but next time I'll add it. Trust me it's good!
Wide variety of good quality food at affordable prices. Can get quite busy so finding a park can be difficult during peak hours, but the wait is worth it if you have the time
Amazing selection! Love their filled rolls :) They definitely have something for everyone. great service. Gets very busy at peak times but they churn through the line quick.
What a fantastic find! Having a nearby bakehouse with such a wide range of delicious sandwiches, pies, sweet-treats, cakes, and beverages is very lucky! Personally, I crave their irresistible cupcakes!
I was doing research here this morning, i found that lots of people come to there and enjoy their brunch, that made me curious and order a smoked bagel after research
it looks colorful and serve with huge portion i can't believe it only $6 ea😱
Every bite taste amazing with different texture and flavour. The first bite waked me up with spicy, sour, and fresh flavour from salmon and herb, the mayo blend those flavour perfectly. The other ingredients such as basil and capsicum provide a complexed texture which made my tongue has different feeling during chunk.
I have to say the bagel i have ordered just like a tiny vault of flavour and texture 👏
I finished it too fast and forgot to take a photo😂 well next time i have to control myself and take photo first whatever how yummy it is😂
Mrs had a pie craving and the good reviews had bought us here. We had a steak and pepper and a creamy chicken n mushroom pie. Pastry was nice n flaky (but Mangere bridge Hong Kong bakery pie skin is still what I consider the best pie pastry). Filling had good flavours with decadent chunks of beef and chicken and the gravy or sauce is good and not like some others that's just all glutenous clumps of gravy.
Price is mid range at 5 dollar each. I also had a sausage roll that was too dry and over price for its size $3.
They also have full range of desserts and sandwiches which looks absolutely mouth watering. I will be back to try other food!
Amazing chocolate cheese cake. . Savories are also too good to resist. The only thing the buns are a little hard at times but otherwise its an awesome place to dine
I drive past this place daily located not in the most obvious location. We went there on a saturday afternoon. Bought the spinach and feta triangle which were filling and the pastry was crisp, needed a bit more salt though. We also got the lemon meringue which was lemony and zesty. Also got the salted caramel and the wicked dessert. The wicked chocolate dessert was particularly rich and delicious. Will be back for more yummy treats:)
This little gem is truly the ducks nuts of bakeries! Best food selection, salad selection, rolls, cakes and price....sheeeet I want to go there now!
My advice is avoid the place between 12-1pm, it's like lining up to get into Spy Bar!
Simply one of the longest standing most exciting bakeries around.
I always get stunned by all the delicious choices I'm facing and knowing each one of them are equally yummy, l always end up walking out with multiple boxes of goodies.
My favourite are the lemons meringue , the Java slice, the...
This place is outstanding. Every time I go there I'm never disappointed. Great selection to chose from everything I have tried has been amazing
I think this place is my favourite bakery in Auckland. They have a massive selection & everything I've tried has been great. I love the Vietnamese pork roll & their pizza slice.
Well I don 't go too often but know they have great food albeit pricier than most. I normally get their chicken n mushroom pie, one of the best I've ever had. Today I went in and got the usual pie and also got what was possibly the best chicken sandwich I've ever tasted also. The Vietnamese chicken roll was exceptionally flavoured, spicy with hints of garlic and lemon grass and just the right combination of the right kind of salad vegetables and dressing to go with it. The baguette it was all made in was also exceptional, dense, soft and chewy with a great crusty exterior and I normally never eat white bread. Awesome!
Love this place, my local when it comes to birthday cakes and work shouts etc. Huge selection and everything is very nice.
The cakes are moist and oozing with goodness, brilliant pies (beef Guinness and such) and a nice salad selection too for a healthier option!.
Highly recommended!
The Baker's Cottage has such a wide selection of goodies that I'm always spoiled for choice whenever I'm there. I have never seen this place empty..it's always buzzing with customers and staff don't seem at all phased by the demand. They're friendly and helpful and manage the queue of customers well. I can't resist their cream donuts or their fresh sandwiches and paninis. They also have delicious cakes, sweets, savouries, salads on offer and plenty of room to sit and relax with a cup of coffee before you're on your way again.
The Baker's cottage is a bakery hiding in front of the big Gull/Subway on new north road.
You may not even notice this place in the busy traffic hours but once you know how good the quality of good out here is - I'm sure you will be a regular here.
Apparently they've been importing Connon's bread since 1907 and everything here is fresh, filling and worth the price. Even their coffees would easily compete any other bakeries or cafe's.
Ideal for taking salads or light meals on your way to work although their cakes and pies are yum too.
Staff are not extremely courteous but are decent enough to not turn you off from coming back.
Will I come back here - Yes.
This place is great. They make the most delicious salads and rolls, their slices and cakes are a very good size and all of the food is very well priced. Unfortunately it is so good that there are always lines out the door every time I visit!
Grabbed a quick lunch here today, being a pie fanatic thought I'd check it out based on the good reviews. Well the Moroccan lamb pie had good flavour but I thought the pastry was average and disappointed that it was luke warm (?), what's with that? The cabinet was bursting with a huge range of paninis and other tasty looking food, couldn't resist trying a (standard) cream donut which went down well without being unforgettable..thought the food was priced ok for what you got, the place was certainly getting busy so they're obviously doing something right here. Well worth a visit and I'd certainly check it out again to try something different.
Hidden treasure! Never new about this place until now and its officially my favorite bakery!!
Great selection of sandwiches which are all fresh/delicious. I didn't like the salads/pastas. Stick with the basics - pies/sandwiches and sweet treats are all amazing.
I will now be a regular visitor :)
first time i come to the baker's cottage a few weeks ago and Loved it! the range is so impressive and each piece is to die for. i stood back just admiring all the glorious selections. in the end i ordered a chicken mushroom pie and a apple sugar donut, pretty classic choice but my gosh so delicious. look forward to my next visit.
honestly the best bakery ya girl has gone too.
i had just gone for a walk wearing 4 layers and i was all sweaty and famished by the end and needed a good ol' steak n mushroom pie to keep me going so my friend took me here and MY GOD GUYS
its a bloody hidden treasure. i would be WILLING to drive from mission bay to kingsland just for one of those national treasures
i also got a cream donut AND FAAAARKKKK m8888 bloody divine eh. washed it down with a mango and orange sparkling juice and m8 what a masterchef dish.
i wanna go back and hoon the salads and sammies and EVEEYTHING tbh eh. i'll like to invest in this place i love it so much
The only reason why we as a family give them a solid 4, is because of the chocolate filled donuts. They have been a favourite of mined and my family for years and many more. In our own opinion it is the reason what made this bakery famous for years and put them in the map, especially in Kingsland Auckland.
I recently moved to Kingsland and this place from the outside didn't catch my attention until I decide to explore it. Good I did. Service is randomly ok as when they are busy they rush you and kick yout @$$ to move 🙈. Food is available to take away, great selection of food, cakes, wraps and bread. Coffees are fine and the place have a good vibe. My mum will love to visit this place as she is a Bakery Lover 💕
Car park 🚘🚗🚘 available.
Child friendly
Will be back
Awesome prices, options here! Love love love their recent additions esp the Bahn MI viet baguette. Ridiculous amount of cakes etc, sausage rolls are the best in town and good range of well priced salads too! Don't go changing BC.
We have been coming here for a long time as it's worth the drive .... The selection of goodies is mouthwatering, it makes it hard to choose. The salads during the week for lunch are really fresh... And the rolls are full of fillings and flavour...Definitely worth popping in with or without the family!
The company I work for is a regular customer with regards to buying morning tea for birthdays and going away occassions. Love the salads here! Such a variety on offer! And always tasty! The orange cake simply divine!!

I've been to The Baker's Cottage many times and they have a great range of food. Great prices, great if you're starting a road trip or need something quickly after a night out. They are more of a cafe than a bakery and they don't have much of a range when it comes to loaves of bread, though they will slice their loaves (sandwich style) for free. I've tried their pies, cakes, salads and wraps, all decent. A great option if you need a birthday cake in a hurry. It's great they have parking, as not many Kingsland places have parking. We usually get take away and eat in the park down the road.
Got a caramel slice however the 'caramel' was more like custard. Still tasted good but was a bit disappointed. Im still keen to go back and try all their other sweets
I never knew this place existed - so much amazing looking food it was so hard to choose. They could do with a queuing system. The prices are very reasonable. Definitely hope to return.
Nice place to sit outside and have lunch, great that it has parking and a fantastic selection of food and cakes. The service was good and the place is very busy.the only downside is the way how you queue up to order, it's a bit chaotic
Updated: Apr 2016
(Still spoilt with choices 👍) it's great that they change the chair and tables now they look and feels great!
The service have improves. Well done to the team!
The Place: They have customer carpark so you got one less to worry and the concept is very laid back/cottage feel. I love that they have outdoor seating.
The Food: Galore!...You will be spoilt with choices especially with the dessert. They not only pretty to look at but taste really good too.
Love their food and come here all the time, have tried most of their salads and a few other things, all fantastic. They are always very busy at lunchtime and sometimes the service is not great and / or could take ages, and considering this is not a takeaway-only establishment (they have ample seating actually) the fact that you have to pay extra to buy a tiny packaged bit of sauce with your pie when dining in is a bit ridiculous! Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars
We come here all the time, they have really really nice sandwiches, pies and coffee. The sweet stuff is not as good as the savoury but they do have a huge selection on offer.
Some of the staff could lighten up a bit, no smiles/friendly greetings.
Been going here for 5 years. Their selection of pasta's and salads is huge it's always hard to decide what to have. Their pies are to die for on a cold winters day. Coffee - great. Service - excellent (they always have at least three or four people serving). I wish they had more parking though, it's always a challenge to park and I know two people who have had accidents coming in/out of that carpark. Be careful backing out on to the road!
Coffee always perfect and all of the baking is always great. Go there and you will see I clearly have not tried everything but I have tried a random selection of things and its all been super good. Always have my freezer stocked with the fresh bread also. Toasties are a definite must try too, they are huge! A fantastic local.
The food here is amazing and the variety is mindboggling. I always have trouble deciding what I want to eat. If you haven't been here, do try it, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
Their peperoni sub is the best but it always seems to sell out quick
Located on the main road with its own little parking bay. The Baker's Cottage is a popular bakery for the locals.
I went on a late Saturday afternoon due to it's long opening hours (till 5ish everyday!) the decor was simple but WHOA! The food counters were stacked with delicious looking cakes,muffins,slices,buns,rolls... Everything you can imagine! The salads, pastas, savouries and hot meals all looked appetising but what really topped it off was the very affordable but rustic looking whole cakes display counter. (Photos attached)
We ordered almond bites, a banana cupcake, hot chocolate and mango smoothie. They were all yummy and the right amount of sweetness. The banana muffin was dense more like a cake texture, a tad on the dry side for my liking - but the icing helped balance that out. The smoothie was spot on! I love mango and it was thick and creamy with an occasional 'tang' from the mango swirl.
Overall, this little treasure is a great place for a snack/treat/lunch on the go.
Best pulled pork sandwich, sausage roll, and pie I have ever tried in my life. I don't usually leave reviews, but I gotta have to do this one as a dough boy. Crispy pastry & creamy mash with hot meaty filling was on point for the pie. the sandwich was too generous as $9.90 with top quality. Great salad. Sausage roll? Game over.
Highly recommend this Bakery! I’ve been on a mission to find a great pie in the area and I was so impressed! I ordered a steak and pepper pie and a sneaky little mince pie, topped with an ice cold Pepsi. All amounted to $13.08.
My diet took the back seat today..
Keep up the fantastic work! I’ll be back!
Surely everyone loves the Bakers Cottage! Great cakes, incredible counter food. And massive toasted sandwiches
Have you ever seen the award-winning Disney+ show “The Bear”? Do you want a taste of it in real life? The Baker’s Cottage, on New North Road is the place to go. They have a variety of delicious baked goods. Personally, my favourite is the corned beef sandwich. My partner’s is the plum and almond tart. Very much worth the effort finding the parking for. Hopefully, once the new Auckland light-rail is built, Baker’s Cottage is a stop!
Excellent Coffee and very delicious pastry variations! I just can recommend this lovely bakery.
Everything looks delish here! Pies are pretty good. The chicken bacon potato top pie was really good, and the Cronut was soo good, I felt it go straight to my hips! The salads look really yummy, I’ll be trying those out next. Iv been here 4 times and it is always busy. Coffee could be better.
Yummy potato top pies! Carrot cake was good too!
Amazing selection at Bakers Cottage with a good mix of sweet and savoury treats. I've been looking for a bakery that still sells cronuts and was recommended this place! It was fantastic! Delicious buttery layers with a custard filling.
Pies are really good, would like to come back and try other options another day

All the food here is delicious, amazing pastries, pies, sausage rolls, cupcakes, muffins, bread, slices, salads, rolls, sandwiches, coffee and cakes! Consistently high standards, presentation and fresh tasty goodness, my go to bakery for yummy things! Absolutely recommend this place and their cakes are to die for!
Coffee is always amazing and consistent. Sandwiches and Pies are lovely. I really enjoy some of the tarts as well! this is also an extremely busy place especially during lunch time but the staff are always amazingly friendly and will always give you smile eventhough you can clearly see they are tired from running around non-stop! Oh they also do cakes and the kids love it! 💗 Will definitely recommend this place with a 10/10!
Huge selection of pies, cakes, pastries and more available and they were all very affordably priced. The potato top pies were delicious! Visited during lunch time and service was great.
Great selection of bakery goods, pies, salads & cakes.
Don't really want to give this place a good review because it's already crowded and popular. But, they have a good range. From diabetes cakes to pioneer biscuits, salads, bread, pies, donuts.
This place is hidden off New North Rd which means it is not easily visible from the road.
That might be for the best because this place is the best bakery between Auckland and Mount Albert and it's is always busy.
Food amazing.
Coffee amazing.
Service amazing.
You can't go wrong with any of the pies here. Great coffee too, would recommend as a weekend lunch spot or to takeaway to a local park.
Put this place on your bucket list. Awesome food and I've got to say, some of the best service north of the Bombays.
For a few months now, this place and there excellent coffee have been our shining beacon towards the end of a very long work night, after this it's time to start heading south again back towards the Bombays. Highly recommend everything.
Thank you to Ken and the test of the staff....Flat white with 3 and Cappuccino with 2
Sweet & delicious 🤤💯💯 must try it out.
