Chef Rob, sort after chef for his verity and knowledge he brings together on the table in form of Pizza, fresh bread, dips etc. had a wonderful evening with our family friends.
Pizza and pasta was amazing. The server was very very helpful with helping me choose a wine to my liking. My girlfriend and I had a great time and we are definitely coming back here again.
Fantastic service....really surpasses most high end restaurants in Auckland. The pizza is to die for and we have arrived for the Tues night buy 1 pizza get 1 free special which you cannot beat the value. A must try for foodie lovers Yum!!
This place is local to me, but they never have many people in. Despite this, my family was in the mood for some pizzas so we decided to try it out on a Saturday night.
The pizza is very nice, and the price is amazingly cheap compared with other places that do the same thing even though it could warrant higher prices for the quality/location. Tried a pasta dish and the meatballs. All pretty decent, nothing to complain about.
The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. Faultlessly professional.
The only problem was the lack of ambience. That's really the only reason why I can't give it a higher rating. There was only one other table. I don't know why this place isn't more popular!? Seriously, come and keep this alive. Herne Bay deserves this.
Stumbled across this place thanks to the Entertainment Guide (digital version). We were welcomed in without a booking and treated like important customers. They proudly told us about their recent review in Viva magazine which was well deserved!
We enjoyed the complimentary homemade bread and shared the prawn ravioli and gnocchi dishes. We have never tasted pasta and gnocchi this good anywhere!
The deserts: Tiramisu and Panna cotta were exceptional!
Friendly and welcoming, we will definitely come again and bring friends!
Don't be put off by the bland decor, the food and service ( and very reasonable prices) more than make up for it!
If you are more about taste than Auckland-latest-restaurant-dash, you will be happy you went to Pane!
We ordered the prosciutto and the mushroom pizzas. Seriously delicious! Perfect balance of flavours. I thought it was exceptionally good value for money and far better than competitors
The atmosphere of the restaurant was so lovely, the background music and lighting fit the restaurant perfectly. There was so much detail with the decor, it felt like home.
Food was really tasty. We ordered the polenta fries- the aioli is to die for. A great starter with friends.
We ordered the prawn ravioli- you could tell every ingredient was freshly made.
The two pizzas were delicious- all hand made and the portions were huge. They really gave us a lot of toppings which made the pizza really worth it.
Overall, our dining experience was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.
The food here is amazing. The pasta is fresh and served so nicely - generous portions and lovely flavours. The service was very efficient and friendly. Bonus being a public holiday there was no surcharge. We will often go out to try new restaurants and leave feeling disappointed. This is certainly not the case here!! Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu.
I would have to agree with the review below that the Owner was a bit pushy. They didn't really seem to care about making genuine connections with the customer. On our way out, I was asking her more about the restaurant - ahh I see you guys have just opened, compliments to the chef for the pasta etc. But they didn't seem to absorb any of this. Was more concerned in trying to sell us breads sitting on the counter and told us to tell all our friends about this place, review it etc. They didn't do this while we were dining thankfully.
The food. Is. Delicious. Warm pane, perfectly flavoured broccolini and pasta and the dessert was to die for.
Great new restaurant in Herne Bay. Loved the food and the service. Will be back to try more of the menu, there special of the week kumera nocchi was delicious.
Delicious Italian food for a great price in your local neighbourhood! We had a delicious meal tonight. Classic Italian food with attentive service. So to start we had arrancini balls served with tomato sauce...one of my favourites so hard to fault. Only recommendation would be some melty cheese in the middle of the arrancini for that little surprise. Mains were classic and delicious. Fennel sausage homemade pasta with creamy tomato vodka sauce and a Prosciutto pizza. All washed down with a nice red wine and lemon tart for dessert. Perfecto! Go visit this restaurant please!!.Beautiful Italian food for a great price, right in your own neighbourhood :-)
The food: We had a lovely dinner here last night. Polenta chips as a starter, it's divine. You wouldn't tell they're made from polenta. I had the casarecce, I thought fennel& sausage sounds like a strange combination but gave it a try and to my surprise it was very delicious. You can tell the pasta is made from real stuff, it is of high quality. The bread they make is a must try.
Service: I was really happy with the service as well, as a hospo person myself I always pay attention how staff handle the work. We met the happiest german waiter :) very friendly and attentive.
The restaurant: very comfortable and inviting. The interior is simple but beautiful. Clean&tidy toilets.
This is not the kind of overdesigned place with uncomfortable furniture but a well designed space in a nice warm environment. They also have a separate room that is for functions.
Great service, value for money and fresh pasta....mmmm. We will make this our local Italian. The wine list could be a little more extensive but, hey the sauvignon was lovely. They freshly bake their bread as well.
Attentive staff, delicious food and affordable prices. Seems like a great spot. I had an excellent mushroom pizza. Zucchini capacio was interesting too.
Happy to see that a restaurant has finally opened here, it was a much needed change from the previous Indian incarnation. I was hoping for something a bit more original but hey if people want Italian then why not. There is already a good pizzeria around the corner, but nice to have some competition! I would've like to see a bit more of an exciting fitout than just tables in a room, and I felt the team seemed a little overwhelmed, but the food that came out looked and tasted delicious, so we will definitely be trying out a few of the other menu items!
The best Italian restaurant I've been to in Auckland. Truly authentic flavours brought back childhood memories. The smell of the freshly baked bread took me to Venice, the taste of the REAL olive oil (not that fugezi you can find in the shops) made me forget that I'm the other side of the word.
After finishing the last drops of oil and hoovering the last crumbs from my plate I indulged in the feather light archini balls. So divine!
I went for the gnocchi as main course and I was so happy for my choice. Those puffy little pillows were covered with fresh pesto and crowded with shaved parmesan. And to finish my dinner I had the must have Tiramisu. Oh, something to die for.
I will definitely return to try another gem from the menu.
I had meatballs and gnocchi and both were divine;)not to mention that the service was fast and the staff was very nice!
Highly recommend this very nice restaurant and we will be definitely back!
Well, to start with we tasted grilled asparagus, which was lovely, then bread with olive oil. Yummy! For main, Carpricciosa Pizza - I really love the pizza base, crispy outside, soft inside, no too thin, not too thick. Just as I like it.
We also tried the meatballs which was really soft and just melted in my mouth. We couldn`t manage any dessert as we were full by dessert time. Next time we will make sure we try the Chocolate Walnut torte ;)
The atmosphere is lovely. Staff is helpful and positive.
We had a good experience and will definitely be back soon!
Our first experience at Pane was perfect.
The food was a 10/10 and we can’t wait to return.
It is exactly what Herne bay needed
Last night I had my best pizza ever!!!!!! it's perfect, light crust, very well raised, soft inside and crispy outside. I used to run an Italian cooking school (WWW.italiancooking.co.nz), I have taught in evening classes for 3 years, beside I'm an Italian chef, so my review is professional.: if you want to eat a pizza like that, you have to go to the south of Italy and maybe, you can't find it so good! The bread with the olive oil was outstanding, like the fritters with caponata! I'll come back to taste other dishes! Thanks!
I had to return to this great new place to see if the bread really was a good as I remembered, and it was. My friend and I would of happily munched on this dipped in the olive oil all night ! However, we ordered and were not disapointed. We started with the asparagus and the panzanella, both were excellent, light and summery with great flavour. I was transported back to holidays in Europe. The mains were equally as good and the wine a great compliment. Food wise it's a 5+++ but the staff were new (I went on the second night) and showed some understandable nerves. I will certainly be back, and soon.
You have to try this restaurant if you folks like traditional Italian food. I Highly recommend Gnocchi and all the deserts on offer - keep up the good work
Dropped in here after a quick meal before a performance, so friendly and lovely food and quick service, as we were on a short time frame. Was a little chilly, but it was a cold night too.
Food and price was good. Portion was small but enough when you are not to hungry. Service was really good. The Ambiente was cold. I would recommend this place
Nice Italian food at a good price. Portions look small but are very filling.
Very welcoming for a family. Excellent service to cater for this and delicious food.
