I love the City Works Depot area, a concentrated number of restaurant/cafes with good amount of parking.
&Sushi is my favorite spot for a quick sushi bite. Their sushi and nigiri are fresh, flavorful and pretty.
A decent range of selections displayed at the counter, quick and easy to takeaway.
Prices are quite dear, but you do get what you pay for.

I love the sushi in here, their look beautiful and yummy to eat. Taste really good too. I had katsu donburi and some sushi, it’s nice especially the unagi 🤤🤤
Came here a while back with a friend to grab the chicken salad for lunch and was left quite satisfied. The service here is very friendly, there is quite a lot of seating around and isn't to much of a mish to get to. The wait took quite a while but was happy with my salad and sushi. The only thing I wasn't too much of a fan of was that the outdoor seating was mostly in the shade. Will most likely be back here soon :)).
Popped in for lunch with a friend in the weekend and the staff here were so lovely and made us feel so welcome. It was a sunny day so it was really nice to sit outside. My friend got a few pieces of sushi which she said were good and we both had the kaarage chicken salad and they were so fresh and tasty. I had a really good experience here and I will definitely be back :))
Went here on a Sunday afternoon(lunch) with the entire family. We called to book expecting the place to be fully packed but surprisingly it wasn't busy so we were told that walking in was fine since there weren't much people at all.
My family and I ordered a few sushi from the cabinet and they were delicious! I was pleased to find scallop and grilled eel sushi-- my faves. We also ordered our own main meals. I had the karaage don, it was good however, there were more rice than meat.
Overall, I would definitely come back esp for their scallop and grilled eel sushi. 😊
&Sushi has their delicious and high reputation for a good reason! Staff are super friendly and can accomodate to what you’re wanting to eat. Their sushi are aesthetically pleasing, fresh and comes in a huge variety. But I would recommend trying their meals if you’re going for the first time.
My go to is the Chicken Donburi and you can choose from White, Brown or Red Rice. I think there are now extra charges for Red Rice but when I went in the past, it was the same price regardless of what Rice you wanted.
During my cutting phase; I asked to swap out my rice for more vegetables and accommodated my request - couldn’t ask for anything more. Good service, yummy food and great ambience!
As I have repetitively said, I love love love the sushi here!! Would highly recommend that beef sushi and the chicken summer rolls because the flavours are spot on.
Really happy to see my favourite sushi place expanding their stores.
I have teriyaki chicken donburi most of the times I have been here and its really good. The quantity is good enough but place is usually crowded during lunch. They have a wide range of sushi and is a veg friendly option.
Amazing service, a sense of fresh and healthy vibes when you walk into the store! Ordered the Chicken Katsu Don and friend ordered the Teriyaki Salmon Don. Great portions, very filling. The chicken katsu was crispy and tender; loved the sauce they used too! The sushi rice they used was cooked nicely. The side of salad in the don, was mixed with mayo/dressing; super tasty! Their miso soup is so refreshing, because it wasn't overdosed with salt! It's so hard to find Japanese eateries that make their miso soup just right! Y'all need to come to their City Works Depot store. You won't regret it!
I come here all the time with my friends and the sushi is absolutely to die for! The presentation is beautiful and there is a wide selection of sushi. All the staff are very hospitable and friendly. I would absolutely recommend!
&Sushi is probably one of the best looking sushi joints in town! We had a selection including the grilled salmon, scallops, Vietnamese summer rolls as well as the standard round slices of sushi. All of them are well seasoned and I loved the hint of sweet tastes from ingredients such as coconut, fruits and vegetables (beetroot)!
We got friendly polite service even tho the little place was very busy. We ordered one salmon and one chicken donburi and they were fantastic! The miso was on point too and the waitress also poured us water which is always appreciated.
Awesome service at &sushi, everyone was very friendly. The sushi tastes amazing and looks so pretty as well. Will definitely be back here again soon.
The prettiest sushi, fast service and so yummy! I had the sashimi don with black rice - very similar to a poke bowl which I’m obsessed with so I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can’t wait to go back and try some of the sushi too!
The prettiest sushi place I’ve ever been to. Super unique and very tasty sushi and donburi. The place itself is very modern simplistic, warm and located in such a good location! Just such gorgeous looking sushi that looks almost too good to eat

Such a unique and beautiful Sushi spot! Very busy but service is super quick which is awesome. I ordered the Karaage Chicken don and I loved it, the chicken was fresh and juicy with a lovely crunch and the salad was crisp. Also love the garlic sauce that came with it!
The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. They had a full understanding of everything being served which was great for people with allergies and specific dietary requirements, the lady even knew every ingredient within the sauces, marinades etc so she could tell what was not suitable. The vegan tofu donburi was delicious, and contained a wide selection of different vegetables. The chicken yakasoba was really good, it also had a varied selection of veg and the chicken was really nicely cooked. All of the food was lovely quality, clean and fresh.
We arrived fairly late so there was only limited sushi left, but what we all tried was beautiful. very delicate and beautifully crafted. It was also good to see the vegan GF selection on a totally separate plate.
This was a lovely meal, fresh and pure. It was quite pricey, but thats to be expected based on where it is, and it was worth it because the ingredients were clearly good quality.
Only downside was there is no toilet, just a public one in a nearby road, so that wasn't so pleasant.
I will definitely go back, (just make sure you use the bathroom else where before you do, because the public one wasn't so great! :/ )
Gorgeous cabinet with heaps of choices for all diets. Staff are really lovely and attentive, making sure to highlight to my friend that some of the sauce on the sushi wasn't vegan. Prices are quite high for the portion sizes, but I guess you do pay for the beautiful craftsmanship. They're not stingy with their use of lush microherbs and bright flowers, which really transformed sushi for me.
This place gets busy all the time, especially during lunch time. So you can either try to find a place to sit and eat or just have your food for takeaway. The food is great, the ambience is nice, also staff are very nice and helpful.
This little box of sushi shown below cost me a mega $14.50.
BUT it’s also one of the best tasting sushi and most beautifully presented sushi in Auckland. The grilled eel is to die for.
Highly recommend for a (not cheap) lunch if you work in city.
I loved the fact that there was more than one vegan option and there was a range of different flavours all packed into one bite size piece of sushi. Very very well done !!
Amazing place! Very tasty food. Lots of vegetarian options! Eggplant yakisoba is my favourite!!! The food is not just tastes well but also looks beautiful! Great experience.
Best sushi ever! The food from the menu is also excellent. My favourite is the salmon soba noodle salad. I eat here as much as possible! It can get very busy, but you can takeaway and eat in the small park area near Odettes.
was awesome!! great food (both presentations and taste) with an awesome staff service. defo recommend :) Also, love the open and airy vibe of the place compared to other cramped up sushi places
A modern take on traditional Japanese cuisine with a wholesome twist. We ordered the Teriyaki Tofu Yakisoba, Edamame, Karaage Chicken, Tempura Prawn Soba, Quinoa Chicken Salad. My meal was vegan and full of streetfood flavour. Click the link to read my full review.
Foods, atmosphere and staff are all good but they don't have any Nigiri sushi or roll for dinner. Only the one reason I wanted to try here was sushi and roll.. that's quite disappointed. If they do have assorted sushi platter for dinner, would like to go again
What a surprise to find & Sushi in the city. Tim had the Bulgogi yaki sorba which had 'lots of flavour, the beef was not too chewy but very delicious.' I had the tofu sorba noodle. It was a more subtle taste but the flavourings were notable. Tofu was fried and submerged in the broth. Very delicious with beautifully made sushi.
My favourite take away food is the Teriyaki Tofu Donburi 😍 I'm vegan and gluten intolerant so i struggle to find a good meal but this always tastes delicious!
So happy an &Sushi branched out to the city! Sushi is always beautifully presented and colourful. Bit pricier compared to other sushi outlets but better quality and more range of ingredients, not your average salmon avo, teriyaki chicken etc. On this occasion, we ordered off the menu, teriyaki chicken and bulgogi beef. Nom!
Beautifully presented. Rice cooked properly which is soft yet not too watery. The vinegar& sugar seasoning in the rice makes the taste quite authentic.
But I would say the taste was weak then the appearance.
Maybe I had over-high expectation due to the beautiful look.
Finally found vegan sushi and donburi! With white, brown and black rice options! EEEEEEE so happy xD
Best sushi shop I've visited in the city. Great price considering the presentation and volume of each piece. Wonderful staff and beauuuutiful decor.
Perfect for health-conscious people. You won't feel sick after having their long avocado cucumber rolls especially (no vinegar, sugar or salt in I'm guessing all of their sushi rice).
been to this place month ago was a random visit but i have to say best sushi so far i had in auckland bit expensive but you won't mind paying for the value you get well done guys
Just been here on the weekends. The sushi here looks quite pretty, the price is quite reasonable too (I think). The price of the sushi range from $2-$4 a piece, with most costing around the $2-3 mark,so is price is probably just a little more than your average sushi from the food court. The taste of the sushi, I will say is probably average to slightly above average. The owner there do tends to try to push you order more than you could eat, but overall the service is still quite good. This is a place which is worth a try if you happens to be around the city.
They are also opening sunday too :)
We always walk pass on Sunday and it was close but now since they are so busy they open on sundays too! Love their food. So healthy and beautiful decoration. Foods are quiet pricey but i can see that they use fresh ingredients.
Only downside is that this place is too small, hardy any space to sit and eat.

One of my favourite sushi place. They serve really beautiful sushi! Price is not cheap but definitely worth trying and returning. Their salmon with cream cheese maki, beef sushi and tuna sushi are the bomb. These two plates of sushi cost $30+ btw.
Not enough seats for demand!
But we got some in the end :)
At first I doubted the tastefulness as they were way too beautiful
Suprisingly, they were super delicious !
A bit more $ than your average sushi but the quality explains why
Nice service, would definitely come back!
Their sushi are too pretty to be eaten ! I think this is a cafe concept with sushi as their cabinet foods and hearty japanese style a la carte. Might be not the best sushi in Auckland CBD, but the taste is not bad and their sushi innovation is in the next level. There are some fillings combination that are not usual I think, but turns out to be tasty. (Like they have strawberry as their sushi toppings).
The place itself is located in a nice area, the staffs are friendly too and the price in a reasonable range.
Will come again for their pretty sushi.
This is sushi at its most artistic and fanciful. Amazing sushi of the likes never before seen in Auckland, being imbibed by the divine denizens of the City Works ecosphere. This uber cool sushi venue resides in the venue that has been several different food incarnations in the last year, the last two of which I was disappointed to see go, but my salmon teriyaki donburi more than made up for that.
Best sushi in Auckland. Beautifully presented and delicious flavour combos (kimchi pork is my fav so far)
The yakisoba and donburi's are also delicious
Nice to find sushi with a difference. Sushi is beautifully presented and very unique flavours not your average run of the mill flavours.
The sushi you pick yourself and yhe also have other menu options such as donburi. I have tried the kimchi pork which was very tasty.
My only criticism is that the rice in the sushi is a bit too compact/dry to my preference. And it is a bit pricey, not pricey enough to not go there but it is not somewhere I would go on a weekly basis for lunch.
It was my second time going to this place for some awesome sushi. Do you know why? It's not like any other sushi that you've tasted in Auckland. It's different and healthy. You can hardly see any white rice. They use brown and purple rice which is good for you. It definitely shows that other sushi shops got a lot of catching up to do. My favourite sushi is the strawberry which pumpkin puree and cream cheese. Yummy! The sushi cabinet is full of colour and makes you want to try all of them. I will definitely go back for more!
I already consider myself a sushi addict - I can’t possibly go a full week without it but seriously, It feels as though I have died and gone to Sushi Heaven. First of all, obviously this is the cutest and prettiest sushi I have ever seen in my life (those cute flowers!). Secondly, this is the tastiest sushi I have ever eaten. Thirdly, FINALLY a nice sit down sushi spot - THIS PLACE IS SO COOL YOU HAVE TO GO!
Excellent value for very nice sushi. Place is a bit crowded and cold, and menu food was a little slow to arrive but they are so popular that's understandable.
Lovely green interior designs and beautifully decorated sushi.
This time I got the karaage donburi and it was one of the most freshly made and tasty karaage I’ve tried in Auckland!! I also had a bite of the teriyaki tofu donburi and the flavour just melted in my mouth. 100% recommend if you’re looking for a Japanese food spot with nice vibes, especially if you’re stuck on where to visit or order ubereats after a long day. Will come again!
Nice spot for a quick bite at city works depot. I really like their tofu yakisoba pictured below. Very nice fried tofu! I haven’t tried the sushi but they all look beautiful and tasty.
June 2022: Still tasty and recommended. Not the cheapest sushi you can find in town.
2021: Well this is not the cheapest sushi in town but it is one of the tastiest one. The variety is impressive as well
Beautiful-looking and tasty sushi! Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Definitely not authentic as well but that’s not what I was here for. The combinations of non-conventional ingredients work well. I love the inari and the purple rice one that has cream cheese in it (can’t remember exactly what it was but it was really nice).
As there are covid restrictions we weren’t able to pick the sushi individually but the readily made boxes offered good options so I didn’t mind.
Would definitely come back to try other items on the menu and also to have these beautiful sushi again!
tldr: 10/10 highly rate it!
So basically I ordered a teriyaki donburi with cauliflower rice (mean) on ubeats at about 5pm on a Wednesday (my mistake re-traffic). When the app drivers position in app hadn’t updated at 6:30 I called the store, they’d finished prepping the meal long ago and were waiting on the driver too. They suggested I cancel my order and reorder the same. After 20 mins tinkering in app this eventuated at about 7.
What happened next is the business the bees knees the keys that dj khalid don’t need.
The food arrived at my house super fresh and piping hot within 25 mins and the textures were superb, I enjoyed every bite.
(One less lonely don)
The don came with a selection of gorgeous sushi and a note apologizing on behalf of ubes. These peeps weren’t responsible for the problem but they generously solved it for me! Respect gained, big up &sushi
I was um'ing and uh'ing about where to eat, and choice this place. It turned out to be an excellent decision! Amazing portions, very friendly service, incredibly fast food preparation, very reasonable price, and of course, wonderfully delicious - the best donburi I've had in Auckland!
Food was fine. Its a shame they don't offer the sushi options there anymore. Atmosphere was very quiet, and feels a bit dead. I hope the spot perks back up to the way it was back pre covid days.
Best and prettiest sushi in Auckland. Best known for their aesthetic sushi but hotfoods like donburi, yakisoba, udon or soba options available. Open 7 days!
Great spot to eat at CWD! Wide range of beautiful sushi bites and simple Japanese dishes. Pictured are the delicious tofu noodles. Would recommend
Sadly it feels like something has changed.
Sushi used to taste and look better.
Sticky and dirty table
I used to love this place.
Now I know I won't t be back 😩
The best sushi in Auckland in my opinion. On the pricier side but had a great range of sushi. They also offer hot dishes and ramen. Food is presented well. There are only a handful of tables but you can get take-out from here too. Busy at lunchtimes and on the weekend.
The food was very filling and tasted very good! The salmon and karaage chicken was very crispy and cooked well.
Delicious and beautiful sushi! It’s a little spendy, but you get what you pay for! High quality and fresh!
Good vegan sushi options and donburi bowl. Sushi could be a little more flavorful, but they are super fresh which is nice for lunch!
Next to the Core Collective. Perfect for a guilt-free lunch after exercise. Teriyaki chicken was very good.
Beautiful and delicious food. The sushi is so pretty and dreamy.
A+++++++++++
Sushi and plates always freshly made. Really, really nice.
Consistently good sushi, make sure to go early as past 1.30pm the sushi can be very limited
