It was my first time buying sushi from here today since it’s usually quite busy when I come past. It’s located by the civic on queens st close to the metro and is a small store with little seating (better for take away). The sushi selection is honestly superior to other places in Auckland I wish I had come here sooner. The staff are very friendly, they do a loyalty card, presentation is very nice and the sushi itself is delicious. A little pricier than other sushi places but definitely worth it!

In a hurry? Want to pick up sushi without giving much thought (I take a v long time to pick so)? YB sushi is the place to be. I’m a vegetarian so I’ve tried pretty much all their veggie options and they’re all so good!

visited this place on a whim as I was rushing for the bus home and I'm so glad I did
I've been past this place for years dismissing it as yet another sushi place
Went in a little past 7:30pm because I wasn't sure if my usual sushi place was still open
They have a closing special and the sushi rolls I bought were discounted (day price $4.60 each but then 2 rolls for $5) I tried a salmon California roll and the chicken katsu roll. First impression (when eating the salmon roll) was sushi rice was seasoned just right. And then I tried the chicken katsu. By far the best chicken katsu I've ever had, the outer crust was still very crispy and the actual chicken was so flavourful.
Will be back
Only complaint is awkward seating this place is better suited for a takeaway order to eat elsewhere

The sushi here is always so fresh and tasty. I feel like they don't skimp on ingredients e.g. a good amount of meat and filling. Nice selection of red/brown and white rice sushi too. Quality ingredients and very yummy. I really like the peri peri chicken which is very spicy!

Bit interesting way to order sushi compared to the other pick your own places around town. Here you tell them what you want and they pick the piece and put it in the box scanning a bar code along the way to help with pricing you up correctly. I think this is great because no risk of over charging. I had the lobster inari pocket which was really good. The salmon rice roll was ok. And the tuna one was the most disappointing. The other two salmon nigri were nice also. But cooked salmon cooled down is not as nice as when cooked fresh or raw. Overall a nice place to go every once in a while for a change from the other sushi places nearby

Love their black sushi Fridays! Personal fav is the avocado chicken rolls. Tried their salmon avocado roll too, super generous with their filling.

Their Black Rice Chicken Avocado roll is literally the best sushi I had bought from this store. And also knowing that it is Black Rice Fridays, I was not disappointed.

This place was in the best location, outside the bus stop and on my way to work. The sushi chefs were working away creating some pretty some good looking pieces! The staff were welcoming and not in your face. Thank you for good service and good food!

Really clean and tidy display. There are bar code on every sushi which is very organised. Sushi there is a bit pricy but with many options and the taste is pretty good.

YB sushi is among one of the places that sell uncut sushi rolls, 2 of which make a fantastic meal.

Their raw salmon sushi is fresh and smooth. Unfortunately they do use tin tuna for their tuna sushi.

ps: Black rice salmon avocado has got to be among the best I've had

I thought that this would taste like any other convenience store sushi but the sushi from YB actually tastes quite good. However, there is a lack of variety and they use canned tuna.

Yay for cheap but good sushi! When this place first opened and I visited, I was slightly confused. Instead of having the individual sushi pieces for $1.00 or $1.20 or whatnot, they actually had rolls of sushi. I love that - biting into one piece of sushi just isn't as satisfying as munching down a Salmon or Teriyaki Chicken Roll. I'm sure if you cut the roll into standard sushi pieces, you'll understand jut how worth the rolls are. Especially if you're enjoying the special offers that change daily (hint: Monday is Salmon Day).
The showcase of sushi makes it exceptionally easy to pick and choose what you want to eat, and the staff are really efficient and friendly. Just make sure you don't come here with the mindset of dining in - there's only one table outside, and I'm sure you don't want to sit around in a fairly loud and tiny place. Take away your sushi, and enjoy the mouthfuls of deliciousness.

Queen St used to be respectable and clean. Now trying to find a food place on the original main strip is an exercise in trying to avoid obese semi-naked homeless people sleeping along the footpath.. the perfect appetite suppressant :-)  In any case after a bit of wandering, I did come across this cute sushi place, and for once it had an original selection of sushi, definitely some interesting stuff you are not going to find anywhere else. Two tables out front for those hardy enough to sit and eat close to the heaving melee of the Q St crowds. Don't expect any peace and quiet. Can definitely recommend the sushi!

Cute little sushi store! I love the setting and how they greet their customers with a huge smile. They always have fresh sushi and have a  wide range of different types. Their daily deals are quite wallet friendly :) Highly recommend this place.

You get in, order, pick your stuff and get out..all within less than 5 minutes.. That's one of the best part of eating sushi..YB certainly has a large variety of sushi rolls, right from veg tempura to tuna, salmon, chicken teriyaki, grilled crab to spicy prawns..they have everything stocked and made fresh each day..not only you can choose from sushi of the day but in the evenings you get a box of sushi for just 5 dollars..
The staff is pretty helpful and always serve with a smile..

YB Sushi occupies the vacated space Yogorino once was and transformed the small store into a sushi joint that isn’t shy of telling you why you should give them a try. The shop’s name, YB, stands for ‘Your Best’ and whilst it may seem like a bold statement, the ladies in the store do seem to believe in it whole heartedly. I’ve been to the eatery a couple of times now and have always been warmly welcomed with the bubbly energy of the server and the variety of sushi on offer.

YB Sushi seems to know that it is entering a fiercely rivalled market too and specialises on 2 types of sushi – rice rolls and grilled nigiri. They probably have the most varied types of rice rolls anywhere in the city, from the healthy black rice salmon and avocado to the slightly higher calories soft-shell crab roll, the selection is pretty impressive. If you aren’t too keen on raw fish then fear not, the grilled range here is sure to please. I really like their mixed grilled box – at $8.90 you get about 5 pieces of really yummy seafood (scallops, salmon, prawn, crab stick and something else that I can’t remember) nigiris chargrilled to perfection and topped with mayonnaise. They also serve a simple Udon soup, it’s quite basic with only noodles and broth, but at $4, I can’t really complain. All in all, its worth a try and see for yourself if it really is de 'best' :D
