The best burger I have ever had. Fresh ingredients and tasty. Big Squeaky burger at Ponsonby Road branch.
Their Davy Jones burger is so delicious that you need to eat it to believe it!! The fish fillets are cooked to perfection! The service is also very quick.. This place offers value-for-money indeed..
Pros: Crisp lettuce, fresh ingredients. Nice staff.
I asked the cook if he could cook my burger with a utensil that doesn’t have bacon and to remove any bacon residue off the grill , he gladly did. Thanks for that.
Cons: $4.5 for fries is ridiculous, they are not the good gourmet fries just typical frozen chips that you could buy from the supermarket.
Lacked vibe.
This was my first time here and this place stunned me with their simple yet elegent varity of burgers.. and sure it did keep up to my expectation and even way more high than that.. lovely music, interior, and honest trading of food. Huge respect and enouragement.
As a vegetarian I am so sick of having very limited, mundane options when visiting burger bars. This was not the case here, they have delicious burgers with a variety of options and staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again.
I've been coming here for most of my life and loving it, and I after seeing how terrible some recent reviews were I thought I'd visit again to see if it had gone downhill. I had the vege burger with a gluten free bun, and as I would have expected, the burger was absolutely delicious. The bun, despite being gluten free, tasted nothing like cardboard, which was a wonderful surprise. The only problem was that even though I had the grand size, I was still so hungry afterwards. The service could have been better, but I've had a lot worse. I love the different options you can have for sauces to go with your chips, and I like how unique their burgers are compared to other gourmet burger places. Will definitely continue to frequent this place!
This place is often overlooked but for me they have the tastiest and best burgers in Auckland and have long before any of the trendy places turned up. Everything is so fresh and the food looks like how it does in the posters etc.
Its an honest place making honest food and your not being bombed by any adverts on big LCD screens or fake friendly service. My favorite is THE BIG SQUEAKY! Ive been coming here for years, find myself going to other burger places but always wished I had a Burger Wisconsin instead.
Amazing burgers here. Freshly made, carefully put together and served to you on a plate. Always leave this place feeling satisfied.
My favourate so far is probably the Big Island. A scrumptious combination of chicken, pinapple and bacon. The kiwi classic is great too.
This ain't a bad place to dine in either. You get a magnificent view of Auckland City over Anglesea Street while munching away at your burgers.
My partner bought a grab one deal for burger Wisconsin, two burgers for the price of one..and wow was it amazing..and not to mention massive! It was one of the best burgers I had tasted in a long time...if you are all about the cranny, then you need to hit up the triple c you will not be disappointed
After tried Burger Wisconsin's burgers, I totally understood that "nothing for nothing and very little for a half penny" They offers dine in service but there is no toilet.
Would recommend! A nice selection of burgers, some that are quite unique, great staff. Some I feel are little expensive for just a burger though.
I ordered the Kiwi Classic which I think may be a little over priced but it was good! Nice and fresh, with a wonderfully cooked, juicy beef patty.
One of the best burger joints in Auckland for decades and it's iconic spot at Ponsonby is perfect for the weekend lunch or brunch ! I've always had the beef chilli salsa burger but it's recently been scrapped off the new menu so the closest alternative is the Wisconsin burger with cheese and added chilli sauce which does the trick and still tasty ! The chicken and cranberry burger does the trick too in petite size if not too hungry, nice friendly staff too which is a plus
Had a Grabone voucher for our visit last night. We ordered the Cabbie (chicken) burger and the Beef and Blue Cheese burger. To compliment our meal, we also ordered a chocolate shake and some chicken nibbles with garlic mayo.
There are plenty of seating indoors and a few tables outside, together with a great view of the city.
The burgers were huge and conveniently cut in half and served on a plate. I loved how they did not shy on the veges in the burgers and the meat patty were thick and generous. The burgers would be on my top 5 in Auckland!
The chicken nibbles were also very tender and juicy, however the garlic mayo tasted more like tartare sauce.
Ponsonby has it's fair share of burger joints. I can't speak for the other Burger Wisconsin's because sometimes these boutique chains vary a bit in quality store to store, so this rating is for Ponsonby.
Here, I usually go for the chicken/bacon/avocado, although I have ventured a bit through the menu and enjoy it all.
Wisconsin stands out to me for the following reasons:
1) The chicken fillet is wide, thick and delicious. No skimping there!
2) The veges are always fresh and crunchy. Again, no skimping on the quantity.
3) Because of 1&2, they don't rely on disguising the burger with shi*loads of sauce like some of the other places, who drench theirs. I've had some burgers from other joints which have a measly piece of lettuce, SOAKED in sauce til it's soggy with the meat underneath also drenched and had to scrape sauce out to make it edible. Never that prob at BW. Well balanced burgers/meals IMO!
The burgers aren't super fancy, but definitely fancy enough, and the large servings are a generous size, so although I might pay $13 for a burger, I'm always satisfied.
I was actually wanting Mexican tonight but as we walked past Wisconsin I saw someone eating a burger that actually had salad and real meat so we had to try it. I ordered a lamb, mozzarella, caramelized onion and mint yogurt dressing with a side of kumera fries with sour cream. The fries arrived first..well cooked a lil crisp on the edges just the way I like them and then the bigger. . Wow Yes I'm impressed a whole piece of real lettuce and the lamb was melt in your mouth..if you took the bread off this burger the filling would have been enough for my meal. Hence to say with the good service, food and great place to sit with great view of city.. we'll be back.
Great service, good value. Nice quality ingredients without the McDonalds feel that unfortunately Burger Fuel has these days.
A nice touch that they use plates if you eat in and cut the burger in half. Kumara chips nice and crisp.
We went along to this store after buying a coupon. We tried 2 different burgers. They were great! Juicy flavorful and fresh. Very nice burgers. Nice relish and patties and chicken were moist and very tasty.
Within all the burgers you can have in Auckland, from the creepy and ugly to the best one, I would place Burger Wisconsin not far from the top! Excellent ingredients, huge burgers and innovative recipes. The Chicken is fantastic.
A bit expensive when you compare to the others (Americain) chain restaurants but defin'tly worth it! And still cheaper than in a fashion bar or restaurant...
Only one negative point: it takes time to make a burger on-the-order, so be patient. You can order by phone by the way!
There are plenty of burger places to choose from on Ponsonby Road, but this one's my favourite. Deliciously succulent burgers made to order. And a selection of magazines to browse while you wait. Great for a evening snack before/after a few drinks at a nearby bar.
I came here with about 7 other people last week for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner because he felt like burgers. The staff were lovely and patient as we took our time choosing from their menu; there were so many delicious sounding options. We got a drink each (they had a wide range of Phoenix and Charlies to pick from), and also ended up ordering a few sides of chips, wedges and kumura fries to share. They each came with a dip, and were decent sized portions as well. My favourite would have to be the kumura fries; cooked to perfection!
The burgers came out in the order that we ordered them, and rather quickly considering there were quite a few of us as well as other people at the restaurant. I ordered the grand beef mushroom & blue cheese burger; I couldn't really taste the blue cheese at all, but it was packed full of mushrooms & beef and still tasted great. The burgers were also very big; most of us struggled to finish both halves (they cut them in half to make it easier to eat I assume, which is good since sometimes it can be such a mission to eat a big burger without everything falling out). Overall, it was a great dining experience with friends; I definitely want to revisit this place to try out some of the other burgers on their menu.
Burgers are to die for the most enormous burgers juicy cheesy goodness milkshakes are just the right amount of thickness you cannot go wrong onion rings are amazing cooked to perfection along with the garlic mayo so mouthwatering and worth every penny and the staff are super lovely and friendly and it’s very kid friendly
Bought from the ponsonby branch today. Great shop, very friendly staff, excellent food and a great view of the skytower from the shop.
Was able to park right outside the door but I doubt that's possible most days due to how busy the area is.
Excellent burger and sweet potato fries. The addition of homemade cheese curds would top it off!
Fresh, juicy and satisfying. Well worth a detour from the Burger Fuel long queue up the road. Wisconsin burgers have a balanced carno v veg menu designed to satisfy every picky eater. I have enjoyed their burgers which taste great and yet don't leave me feeling like I need a lie down afterwards.
Amazing handmade burger. Yes they are not fast food, but well worth the 10-15 minutes wait. If you're in a rush, pre order and pick up!
The kids burger are amazing value and come with fries and a juice pouch! The normal burgers are substantial and if you're very hungry, just get extra fries and your surely satisfied!!!
Pretty speedy service, tasty burgers and an amazing view of Auckland city and the Tower, especially at sunset.
The girlfriend and I decided to check this burger joint out after a cohort's recommendation. We cruised pass on a Sunday afternoon to the place eerily deserted while the bar/restaurant across the street is bursting at the seams with patrons. Alas, we still checked it out.
The menu is straightforward and simple - they have burgers with different types of protein and some sides with a variety of dipping sauces. My litmus test for overall quality of a burger establishment would be a double cheeseburger BUT I was with the gf so we decided to split a grand sized Vege Deluxe Burger with a side of Potatoe fries and Garlic Mayo dipping sauce.
The falafel patty was slightly crispy and packed full of flavor (chickpeas, red kidney beans, rice, peanuts, sesame seeds and some spices). The toasted sourdough bun was light and soft and complimented the garlic mayo sauce perfectly. I can't find any fault in the burger, fries or dipping sauce.
My only negative would be the price... $20 for a burger and fries is a bit much in my book but I might update this review once I get my double bacon cheeseburger next time.
Oh! And sitting outside and having a view of the tower is pretty cool too!
Had an amazing burger here with an organic cola was amazing!!
Holy hecking hamburgers. I’ve never had such a complete burger experience. As a gluten free citizen, I was blessed with a delicious bun to complement by Bronx burger. Ooft. A burger to please the gods, that one.
Also the aesthetic of the shop tickled my inner minimalist, which is only let out on the rare occasion of tidying my desk because HR are coming to visit and are potentially looking for someone to make redundant. And apparently Judy hates untidiness.
So yeah. Go get yourself a burger. Tell them I sent you.
Staff at the Ponsonby store are really awesome! Especially one of your staff called Gino, he was great. A very drunk customer came into the store just after us and proved to be a handful. Gino kept calm and friendly even though the whole situation was very frustrating - a hospo nightmare! Good job guys keep it up :)
The best burger I have ever had. Fresh ingredients and tasty. Big Squeaky burger at Ponsonby Road branch.
Centrally located, open late. Burgers are fresh and delicious, service is quick and efficiently. Definitely my go to place on Ponsonby Rd. A+.
One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. All cooked to order with a brilliantly fresh bun.
