Came on a Sunday night at 6.30pm and the restaurant was starting to get full. It pays to order early, as we waited more than 30 mins for the first dish to be served. They do provide you with an entre soup and dessert after dinner. The portions are massive, hence the price. Great taste but service could be faster
We decided to try this place out for yum cha as none of us had tried it before. The place was quite big but it was also quite full. We came at 1200 and didn't have to wait too long for a table.
They roll around the different carts with the different goodies on them. What I quite liked was a combination dumpling basket which had seven different dumplings on it. I also quite liked the stir fried glutinous rice. They had a decent selection of items and there was quite a nice variety. I did find the taro puff to have more taro than other places. Out of all the dishes we tried, I think only the fried squid wasn't as good as other places.
It was a great place for yum cha. There is plenty of parking, but the area right outside the restaurant did get full. Definitely a good place to go if you are in the area or not.
The dim sum variety and options were great. Nice plump dumplings. The char kuey teow was clumpy and cold so would not recommend. The service was great, fast and efficient. All the trolleys come to you straight away. You basically get a table of food as soon as you sit down.
Very nice food and service. Price is reasonable and affordable. Highly recommended.
Update; Excellent customer service, the staff are all super kind and helpful! Even though we waited a little while to be seated at our own table, the turnover rate was pretty quick and we were seated within minutes! The food quality was amazing, could not fault any dish, and the variety has increased, there are now dry versions of the popular steamed bbq buns and runny egg yolk buns (for people who want to take away hehe aka me)!! Also had their pork intestines which were super tender yet chewy, and full of flavour.
All the classics were fabulous, no faults, and all the dry bun/pastries were really good quality, tried a new thing for me-the almond taro wrap which had a amazing portion of taro filling topped with crunchy almond flakes! Also tried their sao mai which was so succulent and tender, made so well! And their glutinous rice chicken which was tasty with a good amount of filling and even a chunk of Chinese sausage! What an awesome surprise!
I'll definitely be back, and I can't wait to venture out and try most if not all of their yum cha menu!!!
Next step is to come for dinner!
9/2 Extremely fast service during the busy hours of noon. We were seated as soon as although had to share a table.
Classics were served very quickly within minutes of being seated and were tasty and authentic, especially the black bean ribs which were served with taro, an original recipe!
Was quite happy with that and all the quality of the foods, tender meat and well seasoned. However soon after there
wasn't much variety in terms of the dishes being served, only dumplings seemed to be carted around. That was unfortunate as I definitely did not feel like I had enough to eat!
The food it was delicious but the ladies that goes around the tables to offer you the food are too angry it was my first time trying these food and they were quite rude, this is the first time I had this type of experience not everyone knows about this food if we ask it's because we want to try
Good yum cha. Large portions. Can get quite busy during weekend lunches.
Dinner time can be busy. Again large portions aimed for large groups. Nice food.
Enjoyed a nice dinner here a couple of nights ago. We ordered the Peking duck, as a comparison. Duck was great, wrappers not so much.
If you want great yumcha in Auckland, New Zealand then this is the place to go. The food is authentic, excellent taste and great value. Food is served quickly and of great variety. How do you know if a Chinese restaurant is good? By the number of Asians that go there. We came early (close to opening time) so we were able to be seated quickly. If you plan to arrive after after 11:30 AM, I suggest you make a booking.
Have been to this restaurant many times for yum cha and dinner. It's a big restaurant, spacious and comfortable sittings. It's pleasantly decorated and the service is friendly and prompt. The food is tasty and the portion is reasonable. There are plenty of parking. If you like yum cha and fancy Cantonese dishes don't miss this place. Recommended
Pork intestines and prawn toast were the highlights for sure, great flavour/texture and size respectively!
Beef tendons and egg tarts weren't bad but maybe a little bit below average?
All other dishes were fine~
Unfortunately we didn't see any sesame balls :(
But that might have just been on the day.
This place is popular for a reason? Luckily we booked for lunch on a Sunday...
Prices were slightly cheaper than most places in Auckland which is a plus!
