Came here for lunch, and as i'm not a regular here i tried their best pho soup in takapuna as sign outside reads.
How one judge vietnamese dishes is via the flagship national dish. Noodles were of the thin gauge of 1mm not my favorite 3mm width and was quite small than average serving, like half a bowl. Guess i'm use to the generous servings from their Otahuhu rivals such as Sam Woo.
But the entree i had, the sweet|sour deep fry tofu was a generous serving for 6 bucks, see pic.
Keen to return to try the other dishes next in area.
Food was very well done :). Although my rare beef noodle soup seemed to lack actual beef, the flavour was very good. Waitress was very happy and smiled all the time :) great customer service .
Probably the best dumplings around. If you haven't tried these fresh hand made daily dumplings you're missing out. Friendly service, good price.
Ambiance: Modern Decor with a clean streak of luxury and homeliness all in one. Warm, inviting, spacious. Comfortable.
Service: Slightly below average with speed but above average with friendliness. Meals were served in a timely fashion, drinks were chilled and cutlery provided.
Food: I tried the Hot and Sour soup as well as the Beef Pho. The soup was served hot and quickly. The flavours are rich and the serving is perfect as an appetizer as it gets the appetite ready for the main meal. Great development of broth flavour, not overwhelming to the palette. Lovely. Only negative is utilising canned pineapple, fresh pineapple may round this out perfectly.
The Pho was served hot with accompanying lemon wedge and alfalfa sprouts. The broth was nice but could've used a lot more sourness from lime. The beef was tender but slightly confusing as I had pieces of brisket and other round pieces of what I believe was some form of processed beef, as it had a slightly spongy texture to it.
Love this place! They have a great lunchtime menu for $12 which is amazing value for the amount of food you get! The Singapore noodles in particular are fantastic, a nice spice without being too spicy. Been a few times to eat in and takeaway, and never disappointed with the food. Not open on a Tuesday though for a heads up.
Place is clean, service of ordering and food to the table was quick. Had won ton for starters but have to say it was oiler than normal fried won tons. Crispy and hot but oily.
Rare beef noodle soup (pho) was delicious, amount for two people or lunch the next day. Noodles were soft and soup was tasty, perfect. Bbq fried rice was yummy and not oily at all and very meaty with lots of peas and corn. Overall yummy place for a quick meal.
Absolutely amazing, favourite place to go. Such good food, everything I've tried so far has been great and I love coming here. The staff are also super friendly and it's very cheap.
Very good experience! We tried their double cooked pork and we liked it! Also their summer rolls. The serving is big and is affordable! I would love to come back here and try their other food. Very big place and clean. Well maintained and accommodating staff!
Nice little place for a quick bite to eat in the middle of Takapuna. Lots of to choose from on the Lunch menu and the place was full of people including Asians which I thought was a good sign. I ordered the Spicy Squid and it came out quickly and piping hot and nice big pieces. The squid was nice and tender with a nice crunchy/crisp batter not to thick. The only issue I would say it could do with a bit of a fresh spicy dressing as the fried batter does get a bit much after a while but other than that it was great. Nice atmosphere and staff and would go back again to see what the other dishes are like.
A great cheap and cheerful in Takapuna. A mix of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. Food always good and fresh, service great. Very popular and can be busy.
The Pho is great, good flavours, lots of herbs. One of my regular dishes is the Char Sui (bbq pork) on rice. Pork is very tasty and a good helping of it. Am still working my way through the extensive menu, daily specials always good.
Love that they have chilis on the table for condiments.
One of my regular lunch spots. An easy 4 on value for money, possibly a 4.5.....
A massive lunch menu, that is great value at $12. Items can be hit or miss, but work your way through the menu and there are some excellent dishes. Quick wait times also make this a great spot for lunch. Environment is casual and low-key.
Not sure what happened to the Old Vietnam Cafe, or even the Vietnam Cafe, but we decided to check out the New Vietnam Cafe for a healthy dose of culinary reality... I had the prawns in lemon sauce which was sensational. There didn't seem to be any prawns on the lunch menu, but the team there were happy to make up a dish for me based on one of the myriad photos plastered over the windows... Even though it was empty when we arrived, it filled up quickly, and soon the bare interior was buzzing with patrons admiring the many signs and photos posted haphazardly everywhere. Great spot for a quick lunch bite, and where else do you get a menu with 73 lunch specials :-)
I came here with my mum as we were craving vietnamese soup!
My mum said her vietnamese friend showed her this place, which I love to hear. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue noodle soup and the chicken, glass noodle soup. The broth of the soup was so flavourful!! The bon bo hue was a really rich beefy broth with large chunks of tender, beef brisket and flavours of lemongrass and fish sauce coming through. The chicken glass noodle soup was exactly what i wanted, not too rich like the beef soup, yet light and still full of flavour.
Casual place to dine, very clean and tidy inside and staff were friendly, i'll definately be back!
Every time I tried this restaurant, I feel full when I leave here because the dish size is too big for a lady-anyway, it's a good news for guys!
I tried beef meatball noodle soup and my friend chose seafood which is alright. We shared shredded chicken- the chicken is not shredded as thin as what we expected, but sauce and cucumber at the bottom is OK.
For the drink, I tried taro milk tea which I asked for half sugar. That's just perfect for half sugar otherwise will be too sweet.
You can not really go wrong with this place. Vietnamese and Cantonese food. Free tea. Either a la carte, or cheaper option at about $12-14 for meal on a plate. Their soups are very nice; Either won tons, or the rare beef thin slice Viet style. Only thing is the booths which are a bit small if you have long legs.
Love this restaurant is one of our usuals!. The food is good but the serving speed is a tiny bit to slow. My favorite is the beef or chicken fried rice.
The service is friendly and food is served quickly. The deep fried spring rolls and shrimp rolls are really tasty. The Chicken and veges are also really nice with plenty of veges. The chicken and pork dish is also good.
Friendly staff, great food and good prices!!! 100% recommended. You should try the seafood fried egg noodles, omg it was so tasty. They also have BYO so come and visit this place in the heart of Takapuna!!!
Discovered my love for spring roll on vermicelli salad here! Delicious food and quick service. Friendly staff. One quirk is that they once served my partner with chopsticks and me with a fork and spoon. A bit of a laugh but generally cutlery should be kept the same on a table unless alternately requested :)
Great viatnamese, quite cheap and authentic. Middle of Takapuna, parking just 5 meters away, and the beach not fat either. Try the rare beef noodle soup of course.
We had our staff Christmas lunch here and we were very pleased. We gave them a few dishes we wanted and asked them to include more to make it a banquet. The food was fantastic, especially a yummy fish dish. Salads and soups great too. Very affordable and highly recommended
We went there for a cheap and tasty dinner and were not disappointed. The waiter was very helpful and convinced us to order the deep-fried tofu for entree. I now get this take-away at least twice a week, for $5 you get a stack of silky tofu, sweet-chili sauce, a side of finely sliced cucumber and carrots with a sprinkling of crushed nuts. AMAZING. I also recommend the vege and mushroom dish. The tea kept flowing and we left very satisfied, great for vegetarians too.
Nice to be able to go to a restaurant in Takapuna that serves great food at good price and is also BYO. Healthy food full of fresh herbs and good quality meat and vegetables, cooked by a great chef. This will now be our preferred restaurant, a once a weeker for either lunch or dinner.
Nice Beef soup Just only $9.80
Yummy lemon Grass chicken .Beef .Pork on Rice $9.80
Incredible authentic food. Great value and fantastic service !
Found this restaurant hidden in the middle of takapuna. The lady came out to greet me while I was reading the menu. She was very cheery and sat me down and gave great recommendations. The food was awesome and very authentic. Great value for money. Each main was enough for two. Very good customer service.
Nice little Vietnamese restaurant tucked away in the heart of Takapuna. When I arrived I was greeted by a really friendly and cheery woman who helped me take a seat and let me know of all of their lunch specials and chef picks. The prices are very good, with lunches only costing around $10-$15. The portions are also quite large despite the low price and the dishes are definitely flavorsome. I wouldn't say it is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Auckland but it definitely is worth a try if you're in Takapuna. Woof.
This place serves a wide variety of delicious and very reasonably priced meals. The vermicelli meals are a favourite of mine, and the staff are wonderfully friendly.
Awesome food, great quantity! Make sure you try their vegetarian Laksa.
Great portions for the price. Nice staff.
Great authentic flavour at affordable prices
