Such a beautiful restaurant! The food was great and plated beautifully. The price is affordable and totally recommend it. The staff were great!
Great restaurant with a beautiful interior. They have lunch specials that run in the weekend too. These are perfect for one and also good for sharing! We ordered the pork karekare, chicken adobo bowl and the beef rice. They were all full of flavour. My chicken adobo was crunchy (kind of like Korean fried chicken)? But I loved the curry-like sauce in the pork karekare as well as the slow cooker eggplant in that dish!
I heard a lot about this restra so thought to give it a try. The menu is not very big and it a mix of spanish and pinoy food. Chicken adobo was quite tasty however a little bit overwhelmed with soy sauce. I might return here with a bunch of people to try the dinner.
had a business function there. Apart from, sometime sunshine can be too strong, everything else is very good. Sometimes they have live music show.
Came in for lunch today with a friend.
Ordered twice cooked pork belly and cuapao.
Pork belly was ridiculously soft although sauce was not really that strong. When biting into it, the crust comes off easily. Be sure to add the additional sauces onto the pork belly. Eggplant was mushy and tasted great with the sauce. Steamed black sesame buns (cuapao)were squishy on the outside but firm in the inside. Fried chicken inside was crispy on the outside but tender in the inside. Sauces and vegetables combined really well in the cuapao. Pino Colada proved to be a good match when having the pork belly and sauces as it made the dish seem less dry and spicy. Was a good experience and would come again.
Beautiful interiors, HUGE portions and lovely service. First time trying Filipino (fusion) cuisine - IMO Azon's interpretation of Filipink food resembles Chinese to a large extent. (It's very greasy). Will definitely come back to try the soft shell crabs again.
There was a miscommunication with our reservation, that they didn’t quite have enough tables when we arrived. However, instead of just turning us away, the staffs were really patient, invited us to sit down, worked really hard to solve the issue. We were eventually given a table, which we were very grateful of.
This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, with all the chandeliers, greenery, and attention to details. Makes for beautiful photos.
The service was a bit slow, but they did have a full house. And the food made it totally worth the wait. Husband and I enjoyed the soft shell crabs the most - they were crunchy and succulent, served with this rich and creamy curry sauce. Although it was an entree, the second size was big enough to be a main on its own. The chicken abodo & stir-fried spicy chicken were both delicious, although slightly more on the salty side for us. The garlic rich went very well with everything.
We were grateful for the complimentary dessert - it was as pretty as a picture, and the meringue rose was stunning. I did find the chocolate brownie a bit lacking in flavour and I quite dry. Would love to come back to try their other more authentic desserts.
All in all it was a fabulous experience, I really appreciated that there is now a Philipino restaurant in Auckland, and we would certainly love to return for those soft shell crabs.

One of the best Filipino restaurants in Auckland... We came here last month for our Christmas Party... The food was really great, affordable... Staff were very accomodating... Highly recommended...
Highly recommended. I was really impressed with my whole dining experience. The interior design is so effective and unique (traditional Filipino decor). The waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. Great place to take a date/friends/family.
We ordered the soft shell crab, pork sisig as starters. Both were tasty and unique.
For mains we had the chop suey and pulled lamb which again very tasty and lamb was quite exotic. Order a side of garlic rice, you will not regret this
But most notably, my fav was the dessert recommends by the waitress which is the ube purple yam flan , it's not overly sweet. Kind of reminded me of a taro dessert but wayyy better. I could've ordered two dishes for myself, I loved it that much
Overall I'd definitely return and show my mates what Filipino cuisine is like!!
We had an amazing experience at Azon for our small Xmas lunch. The lunch menu is very good value for fine dining essentially. I loved the modern twist on Filipino cuisine, being Filipino myself. My eggplant omelette was delish. But the ube halaya flan was the winner for me! We will definitely be returning.
Loved our meal here. The pork belly..twice cooked (and could've eaten two of them!!) was melt in your mouth goodness. The squid was great but found the sauce a little too sweet but tasty all the same and perfectly cooked. The eggplant and halo halo also hit the spot. Nice decor, friendly service. Chef Leo has done well, deservedly so.

The place reminds me of ‘old Manila’ (i.e. Ilustrados) restaurants with the interiors and colours. The fusion concept gives Filipino cuisine a revived look and an international appeal. However, it kept the authentic taste which i was hoping, being a Filipino. Time is a bit of a challenge, a bigger group (we were 5 then) should prepare for some waiting time. We went there lunch time and requested to pre-order as we have limited time, however staff said they don’t do pre-order for quality purposes.
After hearing that Leo Fernandez whips up his magic here, I finally managed to pop by to try the dishes!
Cozy meets classy in terms of interior; it’s a mix of vintage, urban and sophistication.
We got the Soft Shell Crab, Chicken Adobo and Prawn Curry with 2 sides of Garlic Rice.
The soft shell crab was beautifully golden, nestled in a bed of creamy coconut curry paste. The curry was the perfect balance of spices, creaminess and saltiness. The spring onion garnish tied it up amazingly well; it added that extra wow-factor to the punch of the curry. The delicate addition of the fish eggs that can be almost overlooked proves Leo’s standards and attention to detail. Probably my favourite dish of the night.
The Prawn Curry was very similar to the soft shell crab; but the curry had a extra spicy kick to it this time. It was kind of hard to eat the prawns with the shells; maybe consider skinless prawns? The portion of the curry was also a bit smaller than what you would expect for a Main, being the same portion as the entree.
The chicken adobo was very interesting! I liked the sauce of soy and honey and the crushed peanut coating. It’s probably a little on the sweeter side; I think a little pinch of salt would have won me over. However, the texture of the chicken was a little odd; almost didn’t taste like chicken! It’s a positive kind of odd though—just didn’t expect it. Texture seemed to be a recurring theme in the chicken adobo; potato crisps blanketed gingerly over the chicken completed the package, whilst adding that extra hint of salt to the flavours.
The garlic rice, wow! I must say I probably enjoyed the garlic rice over the two mains! It’s a new concept to me, but what a genius one it is! It’s essentially rice marinated with a garlic butter—to die for, I could have it on its own.
Service wise, our plates and cutlery was set up by a guy who seemed fairly new because he was not that swift, was a little awkward and seemed a little unconfident.
I would be back to try their other stuff!
Food: 9/10
Price: 8/10
Ambience: 10/10
Service: 6/10
Decided to try this place for dinner last night with a friend. We ordered the entree platter to start, which was not what we were expecting. The squid was beyond over cooked and we couldn't even swallow them. The deep fried veges were ok and the quail eggs were probably the highlight of the platter.
For mains I ordered the double cooked pork belly and my friend ordered the prawn curry. The pork belly was an impressive amount however the double cooking had dried out some of the meat which made it not as enjoyable. Prawn curry was a standout dish, with lots of prawns cooked in an amazing curry sauce. Only downside was wishing there was more sauce.
The staff on the other hand were amazing, very friendly and loved telling the story behind the restaurant. Their passion for the place was lovely to see.
amazing environment and great food!!!!! Staff and service are excellent! forgot to take some photos of my dishes...as they look fancy and yum, can't wait to taste them! ! I am looking forward to visiting again❤
I came here wanting to try some Filipino food after watching video on YouTube ! I came in during the lunch time, and the deco was fresh and fancy like ur up scale establishment in Parnell. The food was well presented and portion was good for its price (under $20).
The food was nice and simple and not overwhelming in taste like Chinese food. If I worked around here I would def come around here for a bit of fancy lunch with colleagues or even a get bit of self time cos the deco is very relaxing.
Would def come back and try their dinner menu as the photos on here looked amazing!
Food: 3.8/5
Service: 3.8/5. Good overall service, But didn’t manage to answer what the dishes were like. So I guess just order and try it.
Instagramworthy 5/5
Twice cooked pork kare kare and beef bistek tagalog is awesome. Price is very reasonable for the serving size and quality of food. Great service and for me it's the best filipino themed ambiance in Auckland. I will definitely come back and bring my kiwi friends to experience the filipino culture in this restaurant.
Had lunch with my friend to used my Groupon voucher. We started with lettuce cup sisig, BBQ pork. Main we decided to have fish escabeche, winning dish from Masterchef, and green beans. For dessert, a must have, ube halaya with ice cream.
We even got to meet chef, Leo Fernandez and had a really great time.
Their customer service is excellent.
Highly recommended.
Will definitely be coming back.
I had lunch with 7 colleagues here today and we had a blast 😊
The staffs were warm and friendly. The atmosphere was also superb ( not to mention they've got a nice lavatory).
We ordered most of their lunch offerings:
Tortang talong
Adobo
Twice Cooked Kare kare ( surprisingly my Kiwi colleagues loved this)
Grilled seafood & veggie salad ( so yum!)
Spicy Chicken (ordered Medium hot...and so good!)
Longganisa burger ( the kumara fries was yum!)
Bistek Tagalog
Siomai ( my workmates loved this)
Plus we enjoyed their complementary coffee which is a good pair with churros.
Overall...this place is a MUST to try and will visit again to try their dinner menu.
Kudos to Team Azon!
We tried Azon for the first time and booked for lunch today. We felt the warm welcome by the staff and pleasantly surprised with the lovely interior of the restaurant. Tried their lunch specials - Twice-cooked Pork Kare-Kare, Spicy Fried Chicken Express that comes with coffee of your choice and Sans Rival for dessert. The food was well-presented, delicious and cooked perfectly. Great dining experience and will definitely come back to try their dinner menu as well.
The first thing we noticed as we entered Azon Filipino Restaurant is its imposing interior, which could be a perfect backdrop for both casual and formal dining. The calm music perfectly compliments the ambiance and the food aroma from the kitchen is enticing (actually, you can already smell it far across the road).
The staff are accomodating and exemplified the genuine Filipino hospitality.
Food presentation is exceptional - well we didn't expect less from chef Leo Fernandez, who was a runner up of Masterchef New Zealand.
I enjoyed most the Filipino Food Street Platter for our starter, not just because of the taste, but it did bring back a lot of childhood memories.
The Soft Shell Crab is something unique to taste and the coconut buntaa sauce that comes with it is perfection. This is a starter dish you won't find elsewhere in NZ.
For the main, I had their In-house Caldereta, which had all the flavours that you should expect from this dish. I must say that the goat meat needs to be a little bit more tender, but over-all it was nice 👍.
Yes, I am expecting a second time, or maybe a third, to enjoy the rest of the menu. We had dessert elsewhere, which was a wrong decision that night, as Azon also offer a variety of sweet selection such as the Purple yam cake and Sans rival.
Definitely a 10/10. Azon lives up to its Masterchef standards. Decor, ambience, food quality, service, price - They're all top notch. Food are amazingly witty and oh so delicious but not losing touch of its heritage. We always have an amazing fine dining experience on every visit and will absolutely keep coming back.
We came here on a group on voucher and boy did we have treat. We were greeted by a very cheerful lady Cecille and led us to our reserved table
The menu list wasn't very long but my husband and I had a short discussion on what we wanted, mostly what I wanted. We started with Lettuce cup sisig, I thought the diced pork was a bit too big for sisig. Nonetheless it was good. Next was the soft shell crab. I drooled, it was really good. It had a creamy coconut sauce and a little spicy taste just enough to tease the palate.
For mains we had the lamb shank kulma and spicy green beans gising gising. The lamb was fine melts in the mouth. The vegetable dish spicy green beans gising gising was the best surprise of all. It was spicy, tasty and my husband was picking every morsel in the plate. He said he'd be happy with just this one dish alone and rice.
We had halo halo for dessert, there's nothing more to say it's halo halo. A Filipino all time favourite.
Service is exceptional special mention to Cecille who was hopping from one table to another checking on customers if everything's ok. Very personal. No long wait for food to come out. I think I got a glimpse of Chef Leo in the kitchen.
We left the place very happy. Thank you for the wonderful eating experience.
Came here on a Groupon voucher and it was soooo good! My partner and I have ever had Filipino food before so this was definitely a place to try!
It's a really stunning looking restaurant with gorgeous decor and looks like it would be really expensive, but actually prices are rather affordable. The service was absolutely amazing! The girl serving us was sooo friendly and attentive and made our experience so enjoyable. She also gave us a bit of a background story on the restaurant and Filipino food.
We ended up ordering the soft shell crab and lettuce cups for starters and then the prawn curry and Singapore noodles for mains and then the amazing desert platter to finish (would totally recommend!)
The lettuce cups I felt could have done with a bit of sauce on them as they were a little bit dry. The soft shell crab was yummy, sauce was delicious but felt like it was a bit of a shame to deep fry such beautiful meat. The prawn curry had absolutely delicious flavours, but there was not quite enough sauce at all to even call it a curry I think. And the noodles were good but nothing special. The flavours in the sauces were absolutely amazing though!
Overall we had a really great experience and probably the service and atmosphere is what made it for us. We will definitely be coming back to try more!
We had the most perfect dinner and had the grandiest time tonight 💕 Food and service was perfect! Highly recommended to all even the most fussiest palate. The taste, texture and presentation was excellent! Price is reasonable 😊 Thank you chef Leo, Cecille, and all the ladies for the excellent and warm reception! You are on the top of our list and we're definitely looking forward to our next dining experience! Love it!
My second time to eat here. Love the food and the ambiance. My favorite on-tray is the Filipino Food Platter, It feels home. Tried Sizzling Stuffed Squid, Spring rolls, Gising gising and Adobong Pusit. We also ate Lechon Kawali, Calderera, Pansit and their platter Kwek-Kwek, Okoy, Chicken Skin & Chicharap :) Azon's dessert Ube & Buko Pandan was the bomb!!!
I celebrated my birthday with my mum and dad in this restaurant. Right away we were welcomed warmly by the staff. The food was well presented and very good. Dad enjoyed the ube halaya because it was not soo sweet and was well balanced. I myself enjoyed the rellenong squid. Mum totally loves it all and the idea of knowing that all the food were cooked without msg. To top it off, they gave me a complementary birthday cake. We love how the staff expressed Azon's vision of introducing fine dining Filipino cuisine to Kiwis. Definitely a good and happy fine dining experience. ♡♡♡
Azon is a Filipino restaurant with a twist. We were in a group of ten and decided to share orders. Selections from their menu are popular dishes from the Philippines but I can say that their recipes are altered to a healthier option. Don't expect same flavour of dish from a traditional Filipino restaurant, but dishes are generally good! Some say that my husband has a taste like the critics, and he liked all the dishes we ordered... Fiipino street food (kwek kwek, okoy), pork bbq, chopseuy. However the standouts for us were the pork belly sisig, green beans, squid adobo, and lechon kawali(pork belly). The biggest difference was that we felt an absence of vinegar in their chicken adobo as it is a must have. We did not have dessert as our group prefered coffee after dinner. We will definitely come back as our group often dine out on weekends. The service is definitely good, thanks Cecil👍.
Our experience at Azon located in parnell was absolutely wonderful. Despite us being first timer to try this restaurant. From the moment we were seated, Our lovely servers both ladies were incredibly attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu and describing what each dish consisted of. We opted for the fillo street food platter which was made up of veges, coated quill egg and cracklings all fried. The mains we ordered pork belly melts in your mouth and chopsuey consist of mixed vegetables was great.
Overall very good. we loved the service, food and the lovely ambiance!
Main Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very exciting twist to my favorite dish, Lechon Kawali. I usually have this in the Philippines and it was very comforting to find it in Auckland as well.
Dessert: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Halo-Halo hit home and more. The chef has put together amazing ingredients to create an exciting flavor.
Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This place makes me want to stay and relax longer. Top-shelf design and ambience set in the main streets of Parnell.
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The people are very friendly and always took care of us, customers when we were there. The chef was also very kind enough to meet us on our table to say hi to fellow filipino diners. Kudos!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Too many reasons to love this place. Already been telling friends and family about Azon. Definitely coming back when ever i get the chance to.
Its my first time to make a review here in zomato just to give credits to Azon and my friends who made my bday memorable. We got our groupon voucher its really good value for money. We ordered crab buntaa the sauce of buntaa made my day if im not mistaken its made with pumpkin sauce, street platter was good too. the mains we had adobo, lechon kawali forgot the name of other and we also enjoyed our desserts.
We went here today to celebrate my birthday and it turns out so perfect, wanted to end my review and say thanks to the 2 pinay staffs they are jolly and accomodating and i was surprised they gave me a piece of bday cake and they even sung happy birthday to me hehehe the chef also say hi to us. Very approachable!
Hoping to come back here again soon.
Service was good and the staffs are superb. The ambience was splendid and on top of that is the pleasant music playlist. Had a wonderful experience and i can its a must restaurant.
Loved the ambiance. Service and food was excellent. Unique take on Filipino food. My friends loved the lechon kawali. There were also vegetarian and vegan options, which is a plus. Will definitely come back!
One of the most beautiful and decent Filipino Restaurant to dine and relax here in Auckland. Filipino staff are very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet Chef Leo. Will definitely come back and support this Filipino Restaurant 100%.
Looking for something new? Well, Azon in Parnell is one of the youngest in that area. Introducing Filipino cuisine to Kiwi palate and its all organic. Yup, organic and from scratch. From Crab Buntaa, a fried soft crab shell, and Filipino Street Food Platter, I am craving for kwek kwek, for our appetiser is flavourful.
Going to our mains, we had Pusit Relleno, grilled stuffed calamari; Green Bean Gising Gising and the must try, Lechon Kawali, pork belly is a perfect combination with beer.
Have you guys tried this beer? San Miguel Pale Pilsen is not available anywhere and they have it there. You should try Red Horse! Looking for something in the middle, go for San Mig Light.
No room for dessert, but you must try it too! I will be back with more friends with me there. Two thumbs up, menu is great. Not to mention, excellent service by their server, Cecil. She can give you a vivid picture of what you are having when she goes through the menu. Very personalised and entertaining, showcases the over-all Filipino hospitality in one when dining there!
The menu is broadly appealing and offers something for everyone. A mix of filipino food with western touch that makes all the food appealing not only to Filipinos but to locals as well. Rellenong pusit is to die for and service was outsatanding. (Cecille) provides an exceptional service. She is an asset!
Great food and a nice cosy atmosphere. We had the pork BBQ, prawn curry, grilled squid and the green beans.
The pork BBQ were devoured by our two kids, so I didn't get a chance to have a taste, but it sure smelled and looked tasty.
The prawn sauce was delicious and it packed just the right amount of spice. The beans were also quite spicy which we also really enjoyed, but you can opt to have it not spicy - just ask the staff and they'll be happy to make it to your preference.
Grilled squid was pretty tasty too and was cooked just right. It was a whole squid so was a nice sized portion to share between 4 adults.
I'm not much of sweet tooth but the desserts that we ordered were very nicely presented and tasted great too. The kids loved it.
Great to see Filipino food starting to make a name here in NZ - about time!
So if you're looking for something different to the regular Asian cuisines kiwis have been accustomed to, definitely give Azon a try.
This is my 5th visit to Azon and i would highly recommend this restaurant, service is amazing and food is exceptional. Well done Chef Leo for creating this beautiful dishes and for introducing Filipino food. Looking forward to going back again😃
Definitely a great place for best (fusion) flipino food.
Very satisfying. Me and my wife enjoyed their shrimp curry, crispy adobo squid, sisig, lechon kawali, taste fantastic! and for dessert brazo de mercedes and ube halaya. A must try!
The staff named Cecil was very polite and accommodating, we also met the Chefs behind the great food, Chef mark and Chef Leo. Very humble guys.
Definitely coming back for more great food
Super sulit!! I already miss the Philippines dahil sa sarap ng food nila, especially the Prawn Curry! 👌🏻
You also need to try the halo-halo..kahit winter go lang! with ube on top 😍 we would definitely visit the Azon again 👍🏻
Very delicious autentic filipino foods, presented in a modern way. 10/10 in deliciousness! Cosy and lovely ambience. Very friendly crews. Even the chef came out of his busy kitchen to say hello! Fine dining in affordable price! Will definitely comeback again and will tag my friends with me.
I love the ambience. The food is excellent. Cooked by a MasterChef finalist! The staff are friendly and very professional. Azon is a must-go restaurant if you're craving for an excellent food. Great value for money!
This is the first review I'm doing here and I'm glad its a good one. Great actually. Ive been meaning to check out this restaurant and I finally got the chance to do so. I love the ambiance, very classic and chic yet still got the traditional Filipino vibe. The staff were friendly too. The food was impressive. Its just not aesthetically presented but taste's great as well. It's filipino food but made with healthier options that meets the palate of young, old and of course the so called millennials. I highly recommend this place. Compliments to the chef and staff of Azon.
Looking forward on this day that we would be able to try this Filipino restaurant in Parnell.
First impression, setting and ambience are just wow! Felt like I've been back into the Spanish era with a true Philippines vibe. 😍
My partner and I ordered straight to the mains, we had the popular lechon kawali which you cannot fault! It was just cooked into perfection! We also had the Chicken and pork adobo and prawn curry. Both of the dishes are just divine! I never thought that a curry would taste that good! We had the tablea cake for our dessert! First bite, it reminded me of my childhood when I was eating champorado with my siblings! It's just soooo good!
What made our dinner night is the Filipina lady who served us. She was very helpful, jolly and very accommodating. She made sure that we are well taken care of. Thank you, Cecil for one unforgettable night!
Kudos to the team and we will surely be back sooooooonnnnn! 😍
We planned an abrupt dinner date to this new dig in Parnell. Loved the service and distinct Filipino food flavours in affordable price. Beautiful ambience and decor .
Don't get me started on this place! My friends and I have an absolute ball of a time every time we come here. The food is brilliant - I'm afraid to admit that for most of my life I would stay away from pork belly, but ever since my friends forced me to try the Lechon Kawali at Azon, I haven't been able to go back without ordering it (it's just amazing with the sauce). Great service and an amazing place, although sometimes we get a bit too comfortable and loud (especially after a few cocktails). Have recommended Azon to all my friends and hope it gets the recognition it deserves!!
With a come back of fresh new menu, once again Chef Leo surprise my palate with bursting flavor of Filipino cuisine with a twist. From appetizer to mains are to die for. Add up with the laid back ambiance of the place to the food and how it has been presented was really an experience. Will definitely coming back here again in the future.

food was yum and price was reasonable. service was prompt and waiter was friendly. decor and ambience were also nice. we will be coming back.
Azon is a new Filipino restaurant conveniently located in the Parnell strip. We stopped here for lunch after a busy morning in the CBD. The ambience drew us in, it was very appealing and neatly presented.
The service we received was welcoming, we were promptly taken to our seats and presented with the lunch special menu.
I ordered the pork belly and my fiancé ordered the turmeric chicken. My pork belly was superb, the consistency was just right from the crackling through to the base. I seldom get a pork belly cooked this well.
I tasted the tumeric chicken which was also well seasoned and packed a punch.
The ambience here is lovely and so is the food, I'm sure I'll be back for more.
Amazing and friendly staff. The food is super good and it felt like home! The interior design reminds me of the old fashion classy filipino vibe. If you go, for your own benefit please try the ube flan. I've never ever tasted anything like it. Its so beautiful!
Also had the pleasure of meeting Chef Leo. Very humble and very caring for the food he makes. This place really made me feel proud to be a Filipino, and to just add on that I don't get all patriotic for anything or ever write food reviews. But this experience made me really want to write one and make the rating go higher coz Leo's team deserves every love they get!
There were five of us . My first visit was about two weeks ago with my wife and our youngest son based in Sydney .
With the recommendation by the waitress we ordered two entrees and three mains .
First time for our Japanese friends eating Filipino cuisine in a proper set up with nice ambience .
We enjoyed the food and still had the capacity for dessert that was pleasantly good .
Leo , the chef and part owner came over to have a good chat with us and gave us a good insight about Filipino cuisine .
Overall we had an a very enjoyable evening and catch up .
My wife and I look forward to inviting our other friends to patronise Azon again in the not too distant future .
Being a first timer at this restaurant I didnt expect that Filipino food would be raised to a different level. The place is cozy and elegant. The staff are friendly and can speak bilingually. The food is excellent! Serving seems small but its totally worth it! A must try!
Filipino food with a twist. The ambience is very cozy. You wouldnt think that its a Filipino resto from the outside. The service is superb. Highly recommended. Filipino food with world-class twist.
What a great venue! The interior and seating arrangement is so thoughtful. It is a shame that the seats are slightly too low for those of us not gifted with height. Trying to eat and the table was a small uphill battle.
The meals were delicious - although not tapas food (to share) we ordered two of the main lunch dishes ($16 each such a bargain) and shared the dishes between the two of us. The meat was delicious and we ordered a side of rice to go with the pork belly (at the suggestion of the waitstaff). However felt it was an unnecessary purchase and the pork belly did not have enough sauce to warrant getting the rice.
Overall we were very very satisfied with out $16 mains in central Parnell and I will be going back to eat here in the future. Great work!
Dine here last night and the food is not only amazing, and beautifully presented but the staff are super friendly and helpful. Love the decor and a you'll feel the warmth of Filipino hospitality.
Food: perfect harmony of Filipino and International flavours that would bring you back to your childhood. Simply good food that's meant to be shared.
Ambience: Perfectly lit and cozy space. Exuding a fine dining vibe you'll be positively amazed on their price point.
Waiting Time: Is superb! Waited around 20 minutes for our food to arrive and take note we ordered a feast!
What to Order: Out of all the selections we ordered I really enjoyed the Lechon Kawali! God that sauce is just awesome! All hail Chef Leo! So guys better order it while it lasts!
Verdict: Azon is an experience that truely Filipino and at the same time a cuisine that would introduce what Filipinos food has to offer to the locals and internationals alike. Will definitely come back!
Just been for lunch and it was lovely. I liked the decor. The service was good, there were only three tables used so not too crowded and the food was lovely would definitely return to try the dinner menu.
This is our first time to try out Chef Leo's resto. The place looks very appealing with the excellent interior. The menu is simple and only a few items were listed; however, it's understandable since they just opened recently and I would think Chef did not want to compromise the quality of the food over quantity. We tried Sisig at Pandesal for starters which I liked and I ate the greens on top (although I am not a fan of veggies, well done Chef Leo 😊 for making me it them). Then we had garlic rice, Adobong Pusit and Pininyahang Manok; I loved the Pininyahang Manok coz the chicken was perfectly cooked. The Adobong Pusit is nice as well but didn't finish it coz we underestimated the meal sizes and our tummy capacity so got the leftover in a takeaway. I loved my drink, the frozen mango Daiquiri 😊😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. We ordered Bilo-Bilong Ube and Taho. I am still imagining the taho back home maybe that's why I am not a fan of the taho. Overall, I loved my dining experience in Azon, will definitely be back again especially since they will be doing a lunch menu and other items will be added to the menu.😊 I would have given them a 5.0 however, there was one wait staff that barely smiled, being a Filipino myself, I expected that she will be approachable at least as a gesture of Filipino hospitality which is famous all over the world.
Came here early on a Monday and most tables were reserved so could be a good idea to make reservations.
We were very pleased that it was a friendly place to dine in with a one year old on a stroller. Staff were very accommodating and courteous.
As for the food, we were very pleased with the taste of the dishes we ordered. Being a FIlipino, I know that this is a type of Filipino restaurant which you will not find in the Philippines basically because of its concept serving modern Filipino cuisine. The dishes are non-traditional versions on Filipino food and my husband-who is Italian but has lived in the Philippines- and I, both appreciate the creativity and skill that was showcased.
We ordered entrees, mains and a dessert and my favorite was the sisig on pandesal because of its rich and classic Filipino flavour. Though I enjoyed the chicken in coconut broth, my husband also liked the beef brisket which was more "international" in flavours. The bilu-bilo dessert was a bit heavy after having that much food so a lighter dessert would have probably been a better option for us.
So if you are looking for traditional Filipino food, then you would be better off travelling to the Philippines or eating with a local Filipino family in their home. This place is to enjoy a different Asian flavour which is not so unfamiliar and in a cosmopolitan setting in the relaxed yet trendy area of Parnell.
The food here is amazing! I'm Filipino and I definitely love the traditional Filipino food. However, I love how Azon has turned Filipino dishes into something modern and more sophisticated yet still capturing the exact taste. Their sisig, lumpiang hubad and lechon kawali are the starters I would recommend. For the mains, I personally recommend the kulmang karnero (lamb). This, for me, is the main dish to die for. Other mains such as pinalkang (clams) and pininyahang manok (chicken) are really good as well. The dessert I had was the churros made of purple yam, which was delicious. I also love that they have a wide variety of wines and cocktails. The staff as well as the owners are really nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place. I suggest that if Filipinos will give this a try, you should be openminded and set your expectations. Because this is not your average Filipino restaurant. 😊
We had a party of 9 so we ordered all the mains plus desserts and most of the starters. Good that we did as every dish was superb and will be back again. Can't wait for the lunch menu. Hat off to the chef and waiting staff.
Have driven past this place almost everyday but never tried it till last night. Our 1st impression was good. Decor was quite modern, with Asian touch.
We ordered Jerbitini (cocktail) and Monetto Prosecco (Sparkling Wine) as our drinks. Very lovely drinks indeed! Foodwise we had Buntaa and Sisig as our starter, Pinyang Manok, Kulmang Karnero, Garlic Rice, and Pandan Rice as our Main, and Taho as dessert. Taste wise they are very tasty and full of flavour BUT I wonder how authentic the food would be.
Servicewise. When we were there, only about 5 tables. Not busy at all. The servers were very slack. Staying around the counter area, not checking the tables very often especially those tables at the front. Several times, we had to wave to get their attention before they came to us. Maybe they were at "Island Time".
In general, I ain't sure whether I should classify this outlet as "Asian" restaurant or "European" restaurant (with an Asian twist). :-)
We went back again and will look forward to dining again
Janine was very friendly and took wonderful care of us !
The food was amazingly rightly flavored and the presentation was superb.
Impeccable ambience and good drink selection.
Fabian and Coni were really very very friendly informative and had a good approach. They served us on our last visit
But see you real soon
Hats off the chef manager owner and great staff.
Great food and awesome staff...i went there with high expectations and wasn' t disappointed. Fancy place to start with, friendly and attentive staff..and wow, food was yum! A must try for everyone!
Pinoy fusion at its best. Went hereon a stormy night with my lovely colleagues and was worried we can't get a table. Their phone number is not yet listed so my friends and I just tried our luck and presto...we got a table good for 8 people altho' there were just three of us!😊
The place is cozy and inviting if you want to enjoy a quiet dinner with family and friends. The wait staff are very attentive and helpful as we requested a smaller table when available already. Finally settled and ordered our pick for the night. We were awed by the intricate and creative presentation of each dish. Final verdict...tastes superb! Our group's favourite, lechon kawali wrapped in betel leaves and lumpiang hubad. Just a little disappointed some dishes in the menu were not available but sure is one reason to be back for the next experience. Thank you for the warm reception from the owners, Lloyd and masterchef runner up, Leo Fernandez and the complimentary drinks! Proud of what you have given our own community and the NZ community. More power TeamAzon. See u again.😊
Thoroughly enjoyed having lunch at this place (although I must say it is perfect for dinner). Traditional Filipino dishes served with a twist whilst keeping the essential elements of the dish intact. The main meals are good to share with a bowl or platter of rice.
This is an upscale Filipino restaurant with a modern take on traditional dishes using freshest ingredients. Prepare to be surprised in a good way. Love the fish escabeche and of course the halo halo with pandan ice cream. Fast and friendly service with acoustic music in the background. Chef Leo is amazing. The place is elegant with the comfy chairs, rustic tables and chandeliers. Having a bar is a bonus. But if you are after the traditional Filipino food, this is not the place to be.
We went here on valentine's day and we love it. During this the they serve a set menu for which we really enjoyed. They also have us chocolates before leaving. The staff are also friendly and accommodating. The only reason why i did not give five stars is because i didn't like the gap between tables in the area we were sitted as it gave me a some uneasiness as we are almost sitting next to someone we don't know during a romantic dinner.
Wow what a great experience of fusion Filipino food. I always check the bath room when I eat in the restaurant and it reflect how clean the kitchen. In this case yes it's clean. The food is truly an experience of how good Filipino cook are and truly to be proud of. I heard so many comment about this restaurant how good the good is but the downside is the pricey . So when I saw they have groupon special I did not hesitate to purchase it with out thinking twice, my wife was not impress as we have purchase a few Thai restaurant end up in disappointment as the Thai restaurant end us ripping us off by making the dish so small that we end up paying for more to make it enough for our guess. But last night my wife actually thank me for having a good time in the restaurant and she truly enjoy the food and atmosphere. The quality of goof is truly a 5 star experience. Hope your business last long and you may consider lowering your price but I know it's hard to cover your overhead expenses.
Great first visit here, great first impression. Would definitely come back here again. The food is tasty, original and while I'm also a huge Filipino food fan, this is a great take on some classics, plus a few others that you wouldn't normally make at home. Highly recommend and will be back for sure! Bonus points for awesome staff.
My first taste of Filipino food.. and I will be coming back for more! The pork belly and grilled squid salad need to be tried! Crispy and bursting with flavour. Really liked the chic decorations! Very cosy booths. See you again!
I went here with my husband, mother and brother in law. Was pleasantly surprised with the food here. My favourite was the sisig lettuce cups for the entree, Lechon Kawali along with the garlic rice for the main and Halo Halo and Ube Hayala Flan for dessert. I am known to be a fussy eater, however I tried everything we ordered and was amazed with each bite. The food is based on the original tastes but the chef created his own unique flavours to make it better. Compliments to the chef, we will definitely be back!

Excellent food and very attentive and helpful staff!! the squid adobo was cooked to perfection and ginger rice is my new favourite side! Definitely coming back to try the other dishes!
this one you shouldn't miss in Auckland. a must see and experience. the food falls nothing short in terms of its flavors and texture. a true blend of asian taste with a tinge of modern feel to it which exudes the character of what a modern Filipino dish should be.
First taste of Filipino food. Very impressed with menu selection. Friendly staff, good service. Ideally for sharing small dishes.
First review I've ever done. Food and service was superb. Try the meringue dessert and the crab main. Marvellous evening discovering a new cuisine.
Delicious Filipino cuisine with a modern twist! Very difficult to decide what to eat! Congrats to Leo! Will come back!
